Chad Decker: Well, hey, welcome back to Decker and Dicks. Here we are after, what, a seven -month break, Nolan? Is that where we were at?
N Dix: Yeah, we... Yeah, a little bit of hiatus from the podcast business, but. Yeah, we're back.
Chad Decker: Yep.
N Dix: we've
Chad Decker: Oui. We've made a lot of enemies, I think, on X. but Well, you you have anyways. but
N Dix: No, I'm just performing civil conversations.
Chad Decker: oh I don't know.
N Dix: through Act.
Chad Decker: you told some You told some guy to watch his bleeping language.
N Dix: I've got.
Chad Decker: It's like, dude. you just
N Dix: No, I didn't say I'd said watch your language and then he got upset with me.
Chad Decker: thank you
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: know yeah Well, you tend to make people upset. It's kind of funny.
N Dix: it's all good it's all good nope i i figured it was it's a little bit different last year because
Chad Decker: Yeah, it's kind of funny.
N Dix: When we were on X, all they saw was Viking stuff. All I saw was Detroit stuff.
Chad Decker: right Yep.
N Dix: Then all of a sudden, now I'm just getting... bombarded with green bay stuff and the other day i typed in something and then i got all my Viking stuff back.
Chad Decker: Yeah. Yeah.
N Dix: Now I'm back to all my Packers stuff. so
Chad Decker: Well, if you want Bears news, you got to tell you. It's called Algorithm.
N Dix: I know.
Chad Decker: No.
N Dix: I know.
Chad Decker: You got it.
N Dix: Yep. Oh, I get plenty of bear stuff, but all the bear stuff that I get...
Chad Decker: Yep.
N Dix: is retweeted by the Packer fans saying they suck. Now you got lucky.
Chad Decker: Bueno. Yeah.
N Dix: Oh.
Chad Decker: eat it up I think every fan has those people that they just, on every Bears post or every Vikings post or every Packers post. They just... ah They go crazy on it.
Chad Decker: Like, oh, this is going to be the greatest one ever. Well, I'm really going to send them home. you know
N Dix: yeah and there's a lot of people that just put stuff out there just to get the rage bait and all that stuff and I get that
Chad Decker: Oh yeah! oh for sure for sure i've tried it a couple times i haven't been successful with the rage bait Yeah.
N Dix: Oh, neither have I, but... You know, I look at.
Chad Decker: But.
N Dix: I look at the Bears last year. Was it a lucky season? Yeah. Did they win a lot of games? Yeah did they win the first round playoff game against the Packers yes
Chad Decker: So all that matters is they beat the Packers.
N Dix: Oh. That's. That's all that matters is they won a game in the playoffs and they were the division champs.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: I know there was one year when the Vikings were like 13 and three and I think didn't they win like 10 of their 13, they won by one score games.
Chad Decker: Right, that was...
N Dix: Now that's luck.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: I mean, it's all the the bounce of the football or the miss of a field goal.
Chad Decker: Right, right.
N Dix: so
Chad Decker: Oh, I think that was Kirk's last year, wasn't it? Or was it? i don't remember I don't know. That's been so long ago.
N Dix: ah Kirk should still be there, but you know he's he's getting in fights with Crosby now.
Chad Decker: Well, we'll talk about. Yeah, we'll talk about Kirk here in a little bit when we do our quarterback rankings.
N Dix: Yeah, I guess.
N Dix: Will we, though?
Chad Decker: Okay. Well. I... Maybe, just on how far he's fallen. in my eyes you know i mean but
N Dix: Oh yeah. Yeah.
Chad Decker: But age caught up to him, I think. But anyways, anyways.
N Dix: Well, the Achilles did too.
Chad Decker: stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah so
N Dix: I mean, Aaron Rodgers hasn't really realistically been the same since his Achilles either, so.
Chad Decker: That's true. It's true. but So big summer for the Dix family there, though, right?
N Dix: Yeah, we've had the we've had quite the ride. so
Chad Decker: you have Just back.
N Dix: Still dealing. Still dealing with the... The fire still haven't got back into the house, but hopefully that's... sooner than later, but I think it's gonna be later.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: Um, We've got two boys that are engaged.
Chad Decker: You're going to be gaining two new daughters.
N Dix: We've got a good... college.
Chad Decker: That's pretty awesome.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: Yeah. so And then we still have one in high school that just started volleyball season yesterday. so
Chad Decker: you are You are in.
N Dix: And I'm flipping through and I see this, another graduate from Rochester.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: I'm like. All right, here we go. Decker's gonna be a graduating their last one, so.
Chad Decker: their last one she's she's done this year so yeah yeah yeah yeah
N Dix: She's the same age as Izzy, but she's great. ah
Chad Decker: Well, no, she's 17 now, old Zizzy.
N Dix: I know. She's 15. Going to be 16 in December, yeah.
Chad Decker: Yeah. Yeah, well, you know, you know the difference between Minnesota and North Dakota.
N Dix: I know.
Chad Decker: So anyways, let's move on.
N Dix: but We do.
Chad Decker: so
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: So we're going to... So. Nolan, I've been talking the past few months about getting back on. Kind of sounds like we've got a good Green Bay Packer fan that's going to join us once in a while.
N Dix: We do.
Chad Decker: Okay?
N Dix: his His code name or his handle is Angry Mike. So I don't don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing to bring him on. but
Chad Decker: Yeah, I think he'll be okay because you and him kind of built a little relationship, didn't you?
N Dix: I... I think. We have, yeah, we've kind of shot back and forth and he put stuff on, I put stuff on and we've kind of.
Chad Decker: even Yeah.
N Dix: um off to the side he's chatted with me so I think he's one of those guys that. I think we all have that. Good side of us as a fan.
Chad Decker: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
N Dix: And there's always that bad side that creeps in occasionally.
Chad Decker: ah Well, yeah.
N Dix: That's it.
Chad Decker: oh I mean, that's...
N Dix: you know.
Chad Decker: that's whats That's what makes sports fun. so um
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: But we decided that maybe we would just kind of stick with the NFC North. you know We'll talk a little bit about other teams, but I think... ah where our Where our true passion is, is just the NFC North because we both have.
Chad Decker: teams that are in there. And we're still trying to find a good Detroit fan, but I just don't think they're out there. I mean I just don't think they are.
N Dix: Yeah, and then then we're also... cut on the brink of I think for the last two months I've heard, okay, Detroit's going to go back to where they were. Now all of a sudden. You've got Vegas picking them up.
N Dix: win in the division or finishing second.
Chad Decker: Yeah!
N Dix: I'm like, so I don't know what happened in the last month and a half that. Now all of a sudden, they're back. I know Gibbs signed. Um, you know They're healthy. But...
Chad Decker: Well, and we'll we'll we'll do we'll talk about all that stuff at a later time but uh
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: but you gave me an interesting topic to look up and so we both did our Our favorite, is it our favorite or who we think's the best?
N Dix: I think... Tell you what we can do we can do who's your favorite and then who's your best? who's who the best
Chad Decker: I think they're probably. it's tough for me to pick a favorite quarterback from another team. if that You know, I mean, I could say I like like, well, OK, so let's start off in the NFC or the AFC East.
N Dix: ASC East, yeah.
Chad Decker: You got Jared Allen. You got Drake May. You got Geno Smith and you got Malik Willis, you know.
N Dix: I think we got Josh Allen. Jared Allen, I think, retired from the Vikings a few years ago.
Chad Decker: Oh, yeah, sorry sorry yeah Yeah. He's in the Hall of Fame now.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: josh and so on.
N Dix: Yeah. Josh Allen would be obviously. my standout in the AFC East. um
Chad Decker: Well that's the same for me um
N Dix: But it's ah it's a very interesting AFC East because you've got Drake May, who is... You never know.
Chad Decker: Up and coming.
N Dix: I mean, yeah, up and coming. He's got some good receivers this year.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: and Then you've got this guy that I was i had high hopes for.
Chad Decker: Yep.
N Dix: Every time they came in against the bears, he. all of a sudden he became a superstar was malik willis and I don't know. He's been looking pretty decent down in Miami so far in preseason. I know it's preseason.
Chad Decker: Yeah. It's...
N Dix: But...
Chad Decker: It's preseason. But, yeah, no, I'm with you on that. i'm with So what about Gino?
N Dix: They're not going to win the division, but I'll go Josh Allen as probably my favorite quarterback in the division.
Chad Decker: Right.
N Dix: and I think is the best. in the division
Chad Decker: I would say that, too. The the cool thing is Geno Smith going back to the Jets after being drafted by them, and now all of a sudden he's back with the worst team in the NFL.
N Dix: Was that?
Chad Decker: So.
N Dix: Do you know who?
Chad Decker: Gino, yeah. Gino's pizza
N Dix: Gino's Gino's jets
Chad Decker: Right. Yeah.
N Dix: at
Chad Decker: There you go.
N Dix: Yeah, no, I Jets are the Jets. um Just like the Browns of the Browns.
Chad Decker: I'm going to keep on browning. thank
N Dix: They're gonna yeah, they're that's where you know look justin fields went there he got out of there real quick there's a lot of guys
Chad Decker: yeah
N Dix: Sam Darnold was a jet. Put together a pretty decent season, but not even enough to...
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: you know, sniff the division. so
Chad Decker: Right, right. Well, you're playing against Brady then, so who was? you know I don't believe it.
N Dix: that's true yeah Yep.
Chad Decker: AFC North, pretty loaded division, I think. Burrow. Jackson, Rogers. you know, maybe the Rogers of five years ago, but, and then whoever the Browns start, I think it's going to be Watson.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: um I'm going to go Burrow. I just think he's... It is. I don't know. And maybe I'm buying the hype, but if he's healthy, he's a pretty darn good quarterback. So.
N Dix: Yeah, my my favorite would be Joe Burrow. um He always has been. when When he started Home Alone, that was kind of a cool start to his career.
Chad Decker: okay
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: And then. Probably the... Best quarterback, I think, in that division, I think is Lamar Jackson. Nice.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: Peace.
Chad Decker: I...
N Dix: I mean, he's he's getting old.
Chad Decker: ah you
N Dix: I get it. he's Those running quarterbacks don't continue to run as much as they did in the past. but
Chad Decker: wow And it seems like when they try to keep Lamar in the pocket, he does crap.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: Just like me. but i When I'm in the pocket, I don't do much anyways.
N Dix: Yep. Well, you only got a couple dimes in the pocket, so.
Chad Decker: own.
Chad Decker: Right, right. pretty stacked division, right? Would you say?
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: I mean, Rodgers can still go, I think. I think.
N Dix: Well, he was I heard an interview the other day that he was 100%.
Chad Decker: Definitely.
N Dix: ready to retire. Until Mike McCarthy was... was uh brought on board. which Kinda.
Chad Decker: See you by then.
N Dix: threw me for a loop i'm like was is that a little sarcasm or but he's going to go a couple more years with Mike McCarthy and see what they can do. and
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: It's a winnable division. so
Chad Decker: Yeah, yeah, well, yeah, it could be. Could be. here's a tough one for you the afc south we got trevor lawrence uh stroud Cam Ward and Daniel Jones. so I've always been a Trevor Lawrence fan.
Chad Decker: I know you haven't been, but I think he's better than Stroud, and I think he's my favorite as well.
N Dix: Yeah, I'm going to go Stroud for both. CJ Stroud.
Chad Decker: Oh yeah? Okay.
N Dix: Yep. And I just picked up Nico Collins in my fantasy keeper league.
Chad Decker: I did.
N Dix: So odds are he's going to have a. Injury ridden season. though
Chad Decker: Okay. All right.
N Dix: But no, CJ Stroud, I think Houston wins that division, but we'll talk about.
Chad Decker: All right.
N Dix: Obviously that.
Chad Decker: i Yeah, at some point.
N Dix: Down.
Chad Decker: I think they got a defensive -minded coach, and I think they'll be a good team. So I'm not saying Stroud's a bad quarterback.
N Dix: No.
Chad Decker: I just think Trevor Lawrence has more of the... I don't know, he just... won I don't know
N Dix: the
Chad Decker: I don't know.
N Dix: The interesting division... I think in the AFC. is this.
Chad Decker: Is it the last?
N Dix: Is this AFC West? I mean.
Chad Decker: That's crazy.
N Dix: You could pick out your favorite.
Chad Decker: Yep.
N Dix: But as far as being who the best is, I'm going to go with my my favorite.
Chad Decker: Okay.
N Dix: I like bow necks.
Chad Decker: Okay.
N Dix: I really do And. I like Knicks. um Just the fact that. Hey, I... Can he lead him back to the AFC Championship? I don't know But.
N Dix: I really liked watching him play. I like watching him and Drake may play a lot last year. so
Chad Decker: Yeah, no, i' I'm with you, so. If I had to pick a favorite... And it would be, it's a toss -up between Cousins and Herbert.
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: And I just... I hope cousins has a good year.
N Dix: But you wouldn't pick a backup though, so.
Chad Decker: what's I hope Cousins has like a year to where they can't play that guy. You you just hope he gets one last shot at something.
N Dix: So is is Cousins considered the starter there?
Chad Decker: he is right now yeah they said he's starting and he's gonna you know but
N Dix: Okay. Okay.
Chad Decker: The thing about old Kirko is when he's kind of got pressure behind him, look how he handled it in Atlanta. He didn't do very well.
N Dix: That's true.
Chad Decker: And he knows he's got the first round Mendoza behind him. So we'll go there. Obviously, talent -wise, I'm going to go Mahomes. I mean, the guy's a winner.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: let's We'll see how he comes back from his from his injury, but I don't think he'll be. I don't think he'll be... too far gone from where he was.
N Dix: I thought we'd be different on that one. I i thought I'd surprise you with my homes. Cause like you said, Yeah. Kind of took the year off last year. They weren't the chiefs of old.
Chad Decker: Well, it got heard, no you know, it just...
N Dix: Yep. i I think they're going to turn things around here. and i don't be surprised if they become the the AFC West champions this year.
Chad Decker: okay so would you say that is the best well we haven't been through all the divisions yet but I think that that that division, the AFC West, has the best quarterback group.
Chad Decker: Is that? is that in
N Dix: Possibly. Yeah. Yeah.
Chad Decker: Who's better? like the only other that I could see as close would be Burrow and Jackson and Rogers.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: you know
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: But all four of these guys here that are in the West have won. some games you know what i mean
N Dix: They have
Chad Decker: The Browns, Watson, what Watson are you going to get if he starts, you know?
N Dix: Yep.
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: He's got the talent. but i don't know So, but yeah.
N Dix: so
Chad Decker: it's not go ahead
N Dix: No, I just could say, so the next division we're going to do, I think I'm going to pull up that NFC North. because You've got four pretty good quarterbacks there. Um,
Chad Decker: you want to Do you want to talk NFC North first or do you want to do the East?
N Dix: Okay, let's do the NFC East.
Chad Decker: Okay. So, and then you got Hertz.
N Dix: All right
Chad Decker: Daniels, Prescott and Dart. okay and What I saw from DART
N Dix: My favorite it is One Guy.
Chad Decker: Huh?
N Dix: My favorite and the best is One Guy.
Chad Decker: So you're going to say Daniels.
N Dix: No.
Chad Decker: No, who?
N Dix: Oh. Dak Prescott.
Chad Decker: Really? Oh yeah.
N Dix: Yep. Dak Prescott will lead them back to a division title. I'll be see.
Chad Decker: wow
N Dix: They'll get knocked out first round by. One of the NFC North wildcard teams. But... I think. ah No, I like Dak Prescott. I think he's got he's got some major weapons.
N Dix: In Dallas. Yeah.
Chad Decker: The dude could stay healthy, man.
N Dix: It beat ya.
Chad Decker: That's all.
N Dix: If he stays healthy, that offensive line.
Chad Decker: That's all I do.
N Dix: I'm totally sold 100%. I'm all in on Dak Prescott. For favorite and best quarterback in that division
Chad Decker: I would say my Favorite is probably Daniels because I like those young guys that come in and and play hard. And I would have to say Prescott.
N Dix: It's because he was up Viking.
Chad Decker: Huh? huh
N Dix: Probably because he was a Viking.
Chad Decker: No, he was not a Viking.
N Dix: Oh, Daniels. I thought you meant Daniel. Sorry. I was thinking somebody else.
Chad Decker: but the
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: but But winning -wise, Prescott is your go -to.
N Dix: Yes.
Chad Decker: Yep, so.
N Dix: Daniels, yes.
Chad Decker: All right.
N Dix: Jaden.
Chad Decker: alright So, yes. So.
N Dix: I'm not so... on david that I mean the first year, yeah. Will the Bears become the Washington Redskins from the year before?
Chad Decker: o o Could that be... something to that are you foreshadowing my nfc north quarterback pick
N Dix: I am not.
Chad Decker: Did you see my notes?
N Dix: No, I never where's your notes at?
Chad Decker: They're right here. Can't you see them?
N Dix: No, yeah, on the moon.
Chad Decker: Oh, that's right. We were in different studios today.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: so So let's let's move to the NFC South. We'll save the best for last, I think. Um, Got Baker Mayfield. Tua or Penix, who's going to start there? You got Bryce Young and you got Tyler Slough.
Chad Decker: or sloop How do they say his name?
N Dix: you Salute, probably. I don't know.
Chad Decker: Slew. Yeah, so. um Man, that was a tough one for me. I just said it's Baker just because of... I like how he he's fun. He's kind of not afraid to say stuff, and I think he's probably the best quarterback out of all of them.
N Dix: Yep, I agree Mayfield's best and favorite.
Chad Decker: Okay. So then we'll go to the west, another pretty pretty good staff division you got stafford donald purdy Prasad. Um, My favorite. It's Purdy because he was drafted so low and he's done well, but I think the best QB there is Stafford.
N Dix: Yeah, I'm going to go Stafford, Stafford for my.
Chad Decker: Okay. Okay. Now, your NSC North. No one.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: What do you want to talk about?
N Dix: Well, I think there's...
Chad Decker: What?
N Dix: Okay, there's... for a good quarterbacks in this division.
Chad Decker: Okay, so you're gonna put Jordan love in the good category
N Dix: I'm putting... Do we need to rank them 1, 2, 3, 4?
Chad Decker: no No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
N Dix: Okay.
Chad Decker: But you've always said the guy's trash. Everything you said on X, you said he's trash.
N Dix: that's That's my ex talking.
Chad Decker: Okay. So I would...
N Dix: Um, I'm...
Chad Decker: I would say the weakest quarterback right now is Kyler Murray.
N Dix: Yes, agreed.
Chad Decker: in that division.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: But he could be the best quarterback in that division if things go right.
N Dix: Well, so could Jordan love.
Chad Decker: Oh, I know that. i i
N Dix: So could, yeah.
Chad Decker: So honestly, I could not pick. Kyler's not my favorite yet. No NFC North quarterback is my favorite yet.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: Um, so i can't pick if i had to pick who would Just because of... Howie's, you know, go off and you made fun of me earlier when I told you this, but I just, I don't know.
Chad Decker: I i think that division is going to be wide open, buddy. I really, really do.
N Dix: Yep. I just think the leap that... Caleb Williams took from the year one to year two because of coaching.
Chad Decker: Yes.
N Dix: I think if he plays. anywhere near what he did. I think he's the best quarterback in that division And my favorite, obviously.
Chad Decker: All right. Right.
N Dix: Jared Goff, I think is his he's hit his prime. i i I don't know if he's gonna have enough. left in him in the tank i think
Chad Decker: But he doesn't throw those long bombs, dude. and He throws it like 10 yards to Brown, 10 yards to Williams, hands it to Gibbs, hands it to...
N Dix: Night, all.
Chad Decker: you know
N Dix: And so will Williams. williams ah Murray's going to have to do that. Murray's going to have to throw. passes to his running backs and his tight ends because
Chad Decker: and
N Dix: If he's looking downfield. Hate to say it, Chad. But he's not going to see Justin Jefferson unless he has one of those concussion helmets on. That raises them up six inches.
Chad Decker: You are such a tool when you say stuff. like that Drew Brees is shorter than Kyler Murray. And look what he did. Let's see the second. Second most yardage in the NFL.
Chad Decker: Hello?
N Dix: Yeah, I'm still here. I'm letting you rant. That's fine.
Chad Decker: No, I'm just saying. um I'm just saying, the Vikings line is solid this year if they don't get anybody injured. but Yeah. you know. Ciao. So there's that. Could the could the NFC North rival...
Chad Decker: the AFC West and quarterbacks. So who do you think's better?
N Dix: I don't know, but Drew Brees was six foot. Kylo Marie is 5 '10".
Chad Decker: He is not.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: Did you just look that up?
N Dix: I just looked it up real quick
Chad Decker: They smile at it than that.
N Dix: Drew Brees is, I know.
Chad Decker: it you
N Dix: Murray's shorter than that.
Chad Decker: well
N Dix: Breeze is six foot.
Chad Decker: Okay. That's not what I heard on the news. or Maybe they lied to me. I guess if you hear it on the news, they probably can lie to you.
N Dix: They probably. They probably said, hey, let's save this just for Chad Decker. hey
Chad Decker: Yeah. because
N Dix: Six foot.
Chad Decker: Because he's gonna talk about it.
N Dix: He's five foot.
Chad Decker: He's gonna talk about it on it podcast his This guy.
N Dix: I think the thing about Kyler Murray, I think Kyler Murray is going to struggle here for the first few. the month, first month. Um... They've got a pretty decent schedule, I think, right out of the gates, don't they? They've got the Packers to start.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: I think that's going to be. a That's going to be a huge game for both. If the Packers lose.
Chad Decker: Right.
N Dix: that That hurts the season considerably for...
Chad Decker: but
N Dix: Dream big.
Chad Decker: like yeah No, I know.
N Dix: Seriously, I mean... They're coming in when Green Bay is coming in. and maybe i just have different followers now on x than i did last year but I have never went into a season.
N Dix: where Packer fans were like, we're going to the Super Bowl. We're going to this we're gonna win the Super Bowl. This year has been... i i don' And I don't know if it's because they got beat out by the Bears. They're just trying to poke. But.
N Dix: I have a lot of... on my On my timeline that says... They are going to win the NFC and win the Super Bowl with Jordan Love, and he will be MVP.
Chad Decker: yeah i've i've seen a lot of that but i've seen others too and i've seen the ones that are worried about there's like the real packer fans that know that their offensive line is swiss cheese no No offense to the cheesemakers in Green Bay, but and their secondary is terrible.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: I mean, and you don't have Micah Parsons right now. So you're like. He's gone for the first, what, seven games?
N Dix: Yeah, five or seven.
Chad Decker: five or so I mean, you know, so I just.
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: I don't know I don't know, I think, and and Green Bay. Last year, they just couldn't close games out. Weren't they beating the Bears? huge in the playoffs, and then they lost, right?
N Dix: Yeah.
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: So in... I don't know. I don't know. don' And I don't think they have the best receivers in the in the land either. But if you if you if you look at the...
Chad Decker: the ex reporter You know, everyone's a reporter on X. And so while I watched Jordan Love, he went 11 for 12 in practice. And he was like, shut the hell up, man.
N Dix: Yeah. Yeah.
Chad Decker: Come on.
N Dix: Well. And they're saying they've got... All these. they got christian watson's their w R1. You've got... They got Reed.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: you know the
Chad Decker: they got golden who's a bust
N Dix: They got Golden, who's... had one touchdown and that took him until. what, 18 weeks into the season to get.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: Um... You've got craft coming back. Yeah But if your concerns are on the offensive line.
Chad Decker: Right.
N Dix: That's not going to bode well for...
Chad Decker: Right.
N Dix: For Jordan Love.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: Um... I don't know. I look at Green Bay. I mean. I've heard a lot of people that were like. They're trashing their D backs. Now they're trashing their kicker. And then all of a sudden he goes three for three.
N Dix: And now they've fixed their kicking problem.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: with this kick.
Chad Decker: well
N Dix: And I'm.
Chad Decker: You got to admit, smack is a pretty good name for a kicker.
N Dix: that's yeah smacked it right smacked it left i get it I get it.
Chad Decker: Yeah. Smacked it right down the center. so but
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: Yeah, I don't know. I look at Green Bay and their team always looks good on paper. Bye.
N Dix: I don't think this year does. I really don't
Chad Decker: I think they're injury prone.
N Dix: Two of their top three wide receivers. got outperformed by Odunze and Burden.
Chad Decker: Well, I think Odunze is better than any receiver on the Packers.
N Dix: Oh yeah.
Chad Decker: Period.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: Easily. Easily.
N Dix: yeahp And I think Burden was close to that because, but now with his injury, I don't know if he'll be able to, I don't know.
Chad Decker: I just love...
N Dix: It'll be interesting, that's for sure.
Chad Decker: That's right. That's why they play the games, right, buddy?
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: No.
N Dix: And we've got a few weeks to talk about it. First week of the... Preseason is in the books.
Chad Decker: and Okay. So I thought, well, what you want to. Can you pull a weakness on the Bears for you? what's your what's your What are you worried about? And I'll tell you what I think about the Bears, what I'm worried about.
Chad Decker: and i could like the Packers.
N Dix: I am worried about the defensive line. but they look good in the preseason, but that's not your first ringers.
Chad Decker: Oh, yeah? Okay.
N Dix: um
Chad Decker: Right, right
N Dix: We have some D backs that are if defensively, I think that's where. I'm a little concerned Um... But then on the other hand, Ben Johnson comes out and says he wants to average 39 points a game and be the best.
N Dix: offens So here I have confidence going. Alright.
Chad Decker: Here we go.
N Dix: Bye now.
Chad Decker: man
N Dix: Let's just give up 30. We'll score 39.
Chad Decker: Yeah, yeah.
N Dix: We win. Right?
Chad Decker: That's the thing.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: That's the thing. So i'm I'm going to go back to year one for Caleb and he got pounded year one, right? I mean,
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: He just got hit every which way. who's Who's their left tackle now? Who does his blind side?
Chad Decker: do they have somebody that can protect his blind side is is what i would well i mean
N Dix: Yeah, that's true Hold on just a second. you you Go on that. I got somebody watching.
Chad Decker: Okay.
N Dix: Would you keep?
Chad Decker: Okay. Wow.
N Dix: Okay, sorry.
Chad Decker: I thought you locked the door. So... Well we'll have some dead space here. But anyways... you know the bears are kind of terrible team anyways i think they're going to lose every game but we won't say that out loud when nolan gets back but he's got somebody on that came to his office.
Chad Decker: So. It's kind of funny. That's the way it goes sometimes when you're doing when you're doing the cast pod.
Chad Decker: So. There's that. For the Vikings, for me, I think the the biggest weakness is the quarterback certainty. you know, Talking about.
Chad Decker: you know, Murray versus McCarthy. I don't think it was ever a battle. I think it was always Murray's. to lose which I didn't think he was going to do and so that's why I think he's there and I think actually J .J.
Chad Decker: McCarthy is closer to Max Brosmer than he is to Carson Wentz and I think Mr. Wentz will be the number two quarterback going into the season. not saying it'll be there all year but that's where i think it'll happen so i was just saying Kyler Murray's the number one quarterback, and I think Carson Wentz becomes the number two quarterback, and Murray becomes the number three quarterback.
N Dix: write in
N Dix: So.
Chad Decker: but I'm not saying that's going to happen all year, Nolan, but I think that's i think that's how it starts.
N Dix: No.
Chad Decker: Ed.
N Dix: where Where did the Vikings go wrong with McCarthy? is the Did O 'Connell the... Quarterback whisper, is he not what people thought he was? Or...
N Dix: Where did they go wrong with McCarthy? Because when they drafted him. They said this is the best situation for McCarthy to come into. is with Kevin O 'Connell and the quarterback whisperer.
Chad Decker: Yep. Yep.
N Dix: And now... Is O 'Connell kind of on the hot seat now, knowing that...
Chad Decker: oh So...
N Dix: Or...
Chad Decker: It, it... Quezzy drafted. JJ.
N Dix: Kwesi, I remember that guy.
Chad Decker: Yeah, yeah, so i think I think O 'Connell wanted... Rodgers to come in, but I you know i don't know. i you've heard we've heard things you hear things you read things you see all this you see all that I go back to McCarthy and what you said when we first drafted him. You said, Chad?
Chad Decker: He came from a running offense. You know?
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: And that's it. and boom and that's and it's done and all that stuff so i I mean, so I don't think he was all that they said he was going to be.
N Dix: Right.
Chad Decker: you know
N Dix: Well, I think if you look back at our...
Chad Decker: um Getting hurt his first season didn't help. Didn't help. Right. I mean, getting hurt.
N Dix: Right.
Chad Decker: and then Darnold having like the the best season he's ever had until the next season when he wins the Super Bowl. And then last year I think he was just – he got put into a situation where he just – He wasn't ready.
Chad Decker: He just wasn't ready. You know? And so. And... I, I don't know. I don't know what i don't think it's O 'Connell's fault. I think it's McCarthy's fault and just not ready to play.
N Dix: So do you have full confidence in Kevin O 'Connell this year?
Chad Decker: Oh, yeah, I do.
N Dix: Okay.
Chad Decker: I think he's a pretty good coach. I think he's a pretty good coach.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: i think the quarterback play is what's going to drive that team. and i i think flores is gonna That defense is going to be you know top ten again. um If they get any sort of production out of Kyler Murray, Nolan, it's going to be a pretty good season for Vikings fans.
Chad Decker: I don't know
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: I don't know I think they're the playoff caliber.
N Dix: But I...
Chad Decker: I couldn't talk today. A playoff caliber team. but it all depends on what kind of play they get from the QB, just like every other team. You know? is
N Dix: Well, and it has to start quickly because you have the Packers at home.
Chad Decker: Yep.
N Dix: You're at the bears. And then you travel to Tampa Bay, which I don't think is going to be a pushover.
Chad Decker: Yep.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: And then you have a little. Leniency with dolphins, saints, and then... Colts and Lions back -to -back. bills. Packers. 49ers so it's gonna be There's a stretch run in there where they could be two and two.
N Dix: And then obviously go to two and seven, or they could be. five and three or whatever.
Chad Decker: right right and And we'll talk about that next week.
N Dix: I mean... And it's all on injuries too, so.
Chad Decker: Yeah. So, all right. So what do you think Minnesota's weakness is? Talked about the Bears in their secondary. so
N Dix: Yep. I think. i I agree with you on the quarterback. The quarterback spot is a weakness. um I don't know Aaron Jones. um I don't know I'm not 100 % with Aaron Jones this year.
N Dix: as
Chad Decker: Yeah. There you go.
N Dix: He's getting older.
Chad Decker: I was surprised they re -signed him
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: Mason had a couple good runs on sunday or Saturday. I watched a little bit of the game in their new little rookie, Claiborne. That guy can get outside, man. He's gone, dude.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: he He's gone. He's gone, so... Packers -wise, I think their weaknesses, their offensive line. Ah. Well, i got I don't know. Is it their offensive line? Is it the receivers not being able to catch balls? Or is it there they just can't close out a game?
N Dix: I think ah the edges get in so quickly that...
Chad Decker: What?
N Dix: The D backs are like in the first preseason game. They struggled.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: Um, Nixon has struggled in practice. And... But... I don't know, one minute they want to cut him, the next minute he's a pro bowler.
Chad Decker: oh it's, Frickin, yeah.
N Dix: You know
Chad Decker: Well, that's the Packer way.
N Dix: Yeah.
Chad Decker: That's the back of it.
N Dix: and And I'm not a hundred percent. I'm not, so I've never been sold on Matt LaFleur. I never have been.
Chad Decker: Yeah. Okay.
N Dix: Um... So i'm I'm not a big fan of him, especially after he can't. handle a hard hard handshake after ah after a loss.
Chad Decker: Right.
N Dix: i mean
Chad Decker: Oh yeah. right
N Dix: It is what it is, but...
Chad Decker: Right. Right.
N Dix: I don't think La... floor. is a good court but or a good coach for the Green Bay Packers. ah
Chad Decker: Okay.
N Dix: I kind of like the...
Chad Decker: Alright.
N Dix: the Mike McCarthy, the, you know, those type of guys that were. And I don't think the floor has the... Has the gonads to...
Chad Decker: to to tell his prayers.
N Dix: to cut somebody or bench somebody.
Chad Decker: to shut up or be quiet or yeah all that stuff and
N Dix: Yeah, i mean I mean... guy plays like crap and they're like oh yeah well you know he he'll be okay he'll be okay and i'm like Yeah.
Chad Decker: No playthrough. He'll play through it. they'll play through it so all right so the lions I think we'll both have the the biggest weakness on the Lions, and I'll let you go first, and I'll tell you if that's what I'm thinking.
N Dix: Yeah, that's right. I know.
N Dix: The biggest weakness on the Lions?
Chad Decker: Yep.
N Dix: It's going to be their defense.
Chad Decker: Well, I thought it was their head coach.
N Dix: Well, their head coach has always been their weakness.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: I think defense, I mean, they've got some playmakers, obviously, but. defensively, I think they're going to have to kind of do what. The Bears may have to do. They're going to have to outscore teams. Can they do it?
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: Yes. Um, Does Jared Goff have the same type of season he has the last couple of years? Like you said, he's one of those dink and dunk type of quarterbacks that. Gibbs is going to get you 70 catches on the year.
Chad Decker: Yeah.
N Dix: um The tight ends are going to feast. so Yeah, I i i just
Chad Decker: I would have to say In the last two years, the Lions have been hit heaviest by the injury bug.
N Dix: Yep.
Chad Decker: I mean, they've had a lot of players go down. and And I can't stand the Lions because they think they've won everything for the last three, four years.
N Dix: yeah
Chad Decker: It's just like.
N Dix: Well, now they're saying that's how the Bears fans are reacting, Sensei.
Chad Decker: Bye now. It's... Well, and that there's nothing wrong with that.
N Dix: I tell you what. With all the wins that they got last year. how many games you probably don't remember because you didn't watch every game probably but Every game that we had.
N Dix: Five to seven different players starting on defense. And still. Had lights out defense. It was.
Chad Decker: but I think, yeah.
N Dix: it was crazy i mean there was injuries all over the place and all of a sudden it's like Four more interceptions or four turnovers. and So it was kind of like the next man up mentality and it worked for Chicago. Will it work this year? They let two of the.
N Dix: Pretty good guys go, so. I don't know it'll It'll be interesting.
Chad Decker: It'll be a fun season for sure.
N Dix: Yeah, well.
Chad Decker: it'll be a tough one too so
N Dix: Week two of preseason coming up, so Packers are at the Broncos. Commanders at the Lions. Ravens at the Vikings. And they have the Bears at the Bengals.
Chad Decker: Yeah, so the actually the Ravens are in town right now, and they're doing – uh the practice with them right now.
N Dix: All the practices, yep.
Chad Decker: Yeah, the two days of that, and then they play.
N Dix: any Any brawls or anything yet?
Chad Decker: Not that I've heard. They just got here today. so
N Dix: Okay.
Chad Decker: I haven't seen anything yet.
N Dix: well you Figure with your favorite quarterback in town in that division, you'd probably run down there and get some interviews for us.
Chad Decker: so
N Dix: but
Chad Decker: well I got some things going on at work that I gotta take care of, number one. you know
N Dix: Gotcha.
Chad Decker: Since we haven't done one in a while, their paychecks stopped coming in here. So we got to get them up and rolling again.
N Dix: They did. Yeah. Yeah.
Chad Decker: So.
N Dix: Well, we're going to try to.
Chad Decker: All right.
N Dix: We're going to try to do this every week.
Chad Decker: and Yep.
N Dix: Right?
Chad Decker: Yep. focus more on the NFC North teams and we'll uh and then we'll talk a little bit more but um
N Dix: And if something big comes up in the other part of the sports world, say that the Dodgers win the World Series or something like that, we'll talk about that.
Chad Decker: if the Dodgers win the World Series.
N Dix: or the or the Twins win the division.
Chad Decker: If the Dodgers win the World Series. again um We might.
N Dix: and be a three -peat.
Chad Decker: We might put something out there, but you never know So.
N Dix: We might want to talk salary cap. Who knows?
Chad Decker: I don't know about that. i about that I don't think salary cap is where we where we belong. so
N Dix: No, no
Chad Decker: Maybe.
N Dix: Alright. Well, we'll talk to you next week.
Chad Decker: Alright, my man.
N Dix: Good luck this weekend. with your Ravens Vikings.
Chad Decker: We die. now I'm not doing anything.
N Dix: Yeah, me either.
Chad Decker: All right. Later, buddy.
N Dix: See ya.
