Introduction and Game Setup

00:00:00
Speaker
What's going on y'all I am back back back welcome to Lakers I choose you today is game day so I am watching the Lakers game live. We are just a couple quick minutes before tip off. It is a chilly day in LA. I mean it is truthfully very cold.

Lakers' Road Challenges

00:00:17
Speaker
The Lakers are on the longest road trip of the season so they are probably much colder in Toronto.
00:00:23
Speaker
As you can see what I got on the screen is 85% chance that the Lakers lose today. They just let us know that the starting lineup is a little bit different than what we used to. There's no LeBron there's no Anthony Davis he's out with flu like symptoms I'm not sure what LeBron is out for.
00:00:40
Speaker
But this is a long road trip, to be honest. They at the end, they already lost that game yesterday. So there's no reason to really play LeBron and Anthony Davis like that. So I think Dennis Schroeder is in there. They got a bunch of short dudes in there who hopefully will just create some opportunities for the three ball and play really good defense. And maybe we'll make our way into winning today.
00:01:02
Speaker
I'm gonna be live all day. That game yesterday was harder to watch.

Defensive Struggles Without Key Players

00:01:07
Speaker
But Donovan Mitchell's a good player, y'all. Donovan Mitchell's a good player. He should've showed up in that way. And I think that once they announced that we didn't have Anthony Davis because of that first quarter leave with the flu-like symptoms, we were already in trouble.
00:01:21
Speaker
Not because of the offense that we will be missing, but because of the defense, right? Like the Lakers just don't play good defense. So when Anthony Davis is out of the game, it's like crazy turnovers, harder to get those second chances ball. So we're going to be feeling it. Hopefully we don't get blew out by a whole bunch of the team shows up in a way that's meaningful.
00:01:41
Speaker
Looking forward to that. So thank you all for joining me today. If you are on YouTube, make sure you go ahead and click the subscribe. I got a lot of stuff happening on my channel. I got a lot of different podcasts, a lot of different shows. You'll be seeing a lot more streaming from me here shortly, but I got some short steps also going up, you know?

Viewer Engagement and Platform Promotion

00:01:56
Speaker
So just check me out. I'm a good producer to follow. I got a lot of good content that I'm pushing out.
00:02:01
Speaker
little bit for everybody what's going on everybody who's joining me on twitch come on twitch support you can also check me out on facebook for anybody who's joining pretty early here it's only 430 on the west coast it's an early game for us they're playing on the east coast so non-covid illness anthony davis lebron has left ankle soreness gabriel shoulder pain right knee soreness patrick beverly
00:02:22
Speaker
You know, and I usually complain that Patrick Beverly is even in the game, but here we are and I am, why Russ? Oh, I think it's Russ in the starter. Here I am missing the fact that, dang, today is a day we really would need Pat. We got a lot of people out and it seemed like Pat is out too. You know, everybody, everybody gets them there. It's tough, it's tough.

Technical and Streaming Challenges

00:02:43
Speaker
All right, I'm gonna go ahead and put up the game cast for, I'm gonna also be searching Twitter. I just like to go back and forth.
00:02:50
Speaker
Christmas is coming. I mean, man, I just I hope you can't hear my TV, so I won't get no copyright strikes or nothing. NBA, I'm not trying to, you know, duplicate your broadcast. I'm just trying to live stream. You've got to let them know. No harm. I need a tequila sponsor. I feel like every time I get online, I would get everything set up. And then all of a sudden I'm going.
00:03:08
Speaker
But hell, you subscribe to a producer's YouTube channel. You got to know that I'm going to be producing while I'm live and looking at the results and trying to do something better. So you're really cool. So I'm streaming on one stream live for anybody who's sitting in this so I can pull up a bunch of different screens. I can pretty much create anything that I want to.
00:03:27
Speaker
And then I also have a green screen behind me that I use for another one of my podcasts, but I don't use for this show because this is more of the behind the scenes look anyway, and I cut this into a podcast.

Early Game Dynamics Against Raptors

00:03:37
Speaker
All right, starting lineup, we got Austin Reed, JT, come on, Thomas Bryant, Lonnie Walker, and Dennis Schroeder.
00:03:45
Speaker
This might not be a bad lineup. To be honest, it might get us some better shots on that three ball. Like I said, we haven't been shooting well. This might be a good chance, but it's looking like the Raptors got a got a good, good lineup. They are some taller guys. So if the Lakers can outplay them with the fast, just the pace of the game, we'll be good. What an interesting sound.
00:04:07
Speaker
Salud take a little shot. Yep. The commentators are talking about we can't handle turnovers today agree We don't have anyone who can save us. No one is coming Didn't shoot her better get his money. Come on Austin
00:04:21
Speaker
All right, y'all, this game is about to finally start here. Eight out of 11, that's right. The Lakers are on an upswing. We not doing too terrible. Look at that, three ball already. Damn, damn, first five seconds of the game. Toronto done already hit a three. It's like I picked the craziest games to go live for. Score three, zero. Come on, Lonnie Austin. Damn, that was a long ass three ball. And again, there's nobody who's getting the offensive boards. Damn.
00:04:49
Speaker
Come on, we can't, we can't get a defense. We can't get no rebounds because they short, they shorter guys. They small. Don't let him shoot. Damn. Another three. I mean, they shoot deep three six. Oh, they need to take care of the ball. Take care of the ball. Jesus.
00:05:08
Speaker
Ah, already struggling, it's 6-0. I think we knew he was gonna struggle. We don't got LeBron, we don't got AD, but Dennis Schroeder can play. He got handles,

Struggles with Turnovers and Defense

00:05:17
Speaker
Austin Reeves can play. I think they just need to pass better. You can't throw them little live balls, man, that's ridiculous. He just pushed him out the lane. This is crazy. Come on, Austin. Shoot it, Austin. Damn, he shot a air ball. Oh, oh my goodness.
00:05:34
Speaker
Oh, come on fight. Was that Russ fighting him? All these air balls. They getting blocked cause they short dudes. Oh my goodness. Oh, and one Lord. Oh, they don't. It's crazy. It's about to be 11. Oh, we stand positive though. We hoping the best for the Lakers here. We understand that we're in a tough spot defensively. Rebounding is one of the issues that we've had consistently during the sea to be honest, just rebounding.
00:06:03
Speaker
Hopefully he can't shoot these. I don't know why I will hope that because it's looking like you get crazy. Come on, Russ. You got to create something. You got to move around. Pass the ball, Russ. Come on, Austin. There we go. Stop and shoot. We got to set up much more of that. Two, three passes. Shoot the ball. Quick, quick ball. Because these guys are bigger. You need to capitalize on your quickness. That was a good ass play. Toronto looking good. 3-13. We losing by 10. Grab the ball.
00:06:31
Speaker
Brian, we don't have a minute for this. Okay, he made up for it with the layup. What makes you think we got time for that stylistic ass pass? We don't have time for that. Toronto is balling them. Five to 15 for anybody who's on Facebook and can't see numbers. Let me know if y'all need me to make the, make it bigger.
00:06:49
Speaker
Come on, shooter, 8 to 15. They start slowly digging us out this grave. So quick in the game, we already so far behind. Why are all five of y'all in the paint? I'm like, listen, if y'all standing in the paint, we need to have a rebound.
00:07:06
Speaker
Pass it out. Too long. And he got fouled. Thomas Bryant and one. That was a good pass Russ, but I cannot believe that Russ can't shoot that three. I know he maybe not believe he could shoot that three, but he was wide open and nobody was even coming for him. Nobody was coming for him. And that's not where is the Russ that would just pull up, especially non contested. Where is that Russ? Oh,
00:07:29
Speaker
Thomas Bryant has really been doing better. He's really been doing better. I think he makes a lot of goofy plays and he kind of got butterfingers, but he's really, really trying. Yo, cause the Lakers suck the Bulls is better. Kinda. I don't know that the Bulls are, are the

Speculation on Player Absences

00:07:45
Speaker
Bulls better right now? Let's look that up. Let's look, let's look that up. Uh, the Bulls are nine and 14 Lakers are 10 and 13. I think
00:07:55
Speaker
I think when we got A.D. and LeBron, the Bulls and the Lakers are pretty much even, Robert. Stop it, stop it. And I'm from, y'all know, okay, so I've actually played at the United Center a couple times. I went to Providence, St. Mel, that's right down the street from there, and we had our conference championships there, so I got to shooting it. It's real hard to play up in there. So I'm a Bulls fan. I mean, I was there for the Mike Jordan era.
00:08:20
Speaker
all of that but nah not right now but you know what i'ma start watching more bulls i don't even know why i didn't choose to be a bulls fan i was like nah something didn't just it didn't hit me right 10 to 15 all right we cut this we cut this lead down we cut this lead down LeBron probably just wanted the night off and i would too i don't even blame him for wanting the night off it's like you on this long ass road trip look at him he got that hoodie on
00:08:43
Speaker
He got his gray hat on, he like lit. This is the best I got, I feel you. A.D. is out, he would have to be working all hard and shit. Especially for this, like this is a game that's like, it matters, every game matters, but this don't matter that much. Especially at the end of this road trip where they just already lost tomorrow, I mean lost yesterday. They knew that they had to play tomorrow, so he probably decided yesterday on exhaust moth, because I'm already tired. Lonnie with the three.
00:09:06
Speaker
Cut the lead 13-17. 13-17. Get that rebound. That's right. They got a fight for this game today. Pass, pass, pass, Lonnie. That's Dennis. That was a good shot. Oh, look at Russ with the punt back.
00:09:21
Speaker
That's what I'm saying. This is where you need veterans on your team. You need veterans on your team. It ain't even got to be too crazy like that, that little bit of grit. The Lakers are on a 10 and two run in the last two minutes. That was a little bit of a, all right, Thomas Bryan kind of tipped that one in. 15-19, we good. What we're doing is we're doing better momentum. Russ quit playing. Quit playing Russ. Lonnie, he trying to get the rebound. Austin is at least hustling. He earning his money. I don't know how much he get paid, but let's look at how much Austin.
00:09:50
Speaker
He making 1.2 million dollars? You gotta be kidding. He need a raise. Got him filed. Thomas Bryant is fighting. Thomas Bryant, eight million. How you getting more than Austin? You feel me? I can't turn the game on. I'm not getting sued.
00:10:06
Speaker
I can't stream the game. This is on spectrum. I live right down the street from crypto. So we can't even, I can't even get it on NBA league pass. I'm sorry. I wish I could. I would play the whole game right next to you so you can see exactly what I'm talking about. But you just gonna have to take this score from me. You want me to hit on a game tracker? Let me try to put on a game tracker so you can see it play by play. I'm also a Purdue grad. Purdue is winning too. 54-34. All right, here you go. I'm gonna share this tab instead. Boom. There you go. That's the best I got at this game, showing you the game.
00:10:35
Speaker
Go, what do you want? Man, I really wish I could skip the commercials, but that would be too good to be true. Jack-in-the-box tacos. We ain't got half the people we need to fight for rebound, to be quite honest. The Lakers. Gabriel, he be coming through. He can rebound. At least, I'm not saying he get to put back every single time, but at least he going up there and putting his arms up, man. Lakers is short-handed. We got the C team here. Thomas Bryant doing that weird dribble.
00:11:05
Speaker
with them free throws. I'ma see if I can get a video of that.

Critique of Lakers' Performance

00:11:08
Speaker
Come on, Thomas with the two. Come on, they playing still, Dre. Toronto getting floaters, threes, pass Russ to the right. Pass, he open. Too late. Y'all don't need fast pass. One more, pass. You gotta be quick with these passes and not them flip passes that I don't know what they do when they be under the rim. They just wanna flip pass, man, please.
00:11:33
Speaker
Russ faked that foul but I'm so glad he got it and then only to miss the free throws bruh bruh bruh bruh
00:11:40
Speaker
What are we really doing here? Weird ass starting five, but it's the best we got today. Come on, none. Who is this motherfucker on Toronto? Who is he? This beard. Jesus, Toronto has 14 points in the paint because of him. Lakers only got four in the paint. We is not scoring it, but of course, smaller people. We already talked about this and that was a travel. He hitting floaters and shit.
00:12:05
Speaker
Damn, he missed that. Get the rebound. That was a nice little Euro step and it was a foul. Come on, come with it. I'm on Twitter checking out what everybody's saying. I don't even think nobody watching the damn game. I think that once they released that starting five and it was no AD, no LeBron, people was like, it's rough.
00:12:23
Speaker
All right, we had 25-21 Lakers got the lead down to four, now six with the 27-21. Toronto continues to score inside. Come on, Russ! Come on, Russ, keep that up. He gonna have to really, we might be able to at least keep up the pace, keep up with a pace. Damn, and he fouled the hell out of him.
00:12:44
Speaker
He had already hit that three. I don't even understand why you went over there. He missed the free throw though. So, bye. It's 30-23. 30-23. Come on, Russ. What kind of makeshift? Damn. Toronto can shoot. You hear me? Shoot. They are shooting the ball. This is what shooting looks like. Toronto is four for eight from the field, but it's feeling like eight for eight. There you go. Another shot. L. Ooh.
00:13:12
Speaker
But you know what Toronto does? Well, they come in to what Toronto does. Well, is they step in. They don't need to. Sometimes they be going for the three and it looked like they open and Emma come trying to swat it out. Boom. Take a step. Just come back in. Hit the two. They hitting all of the, all of the points in the paint. I wish the Lakers would take note of that. That's what I wish they would take no time. I Kendrick none loss. Damn.
00:13:36
Speaker
You ain't never lied. Fred Van Vleet. Van Vleet. Is that his name? Van Vleet? I don't know nothing about these Toronto players. I actually don't know none of these. They say Kendrick Nunn is out of his mind right now. Dude is so lost. Juke. Everybody talking about how Kendrick Nunn is G league. Talking about he should not get minutes. Man.
00:13:58
Speaker
Yo, somebody on Lakers Nation gonna post, we need this from Russ. Given Will Chamberlain's March 18, 1968 stats, 53 points, 32 rebounds, 14 assists, 24 blocks, and 11 steals. Ain't no way in hell Russ can do this. 24 blocks, please, please, but this is funny as hell. Let me go ahead and say, man, this is funny as hell.
00:14:20
Speaker
If you wanna follow me on Twitter, same, same DJ Treezy Treez on every single platform. That is funny as hell, man. Ain't no way. Cool. Fred Van Fleet got divorced. What's happening? Why do I always find out drama? I feel like every time I ain't even know this man, Van Fleet was Van Fleet. Why do I always find out where is this man from? Man, that is not divorce. People lie and say anything. They just got engaged. Shantae Neal.
00:14:45
Speaker
All right y'all, 25, 33, the Lakers still trailing here, but we shooting free throws. Come on, hit both the free throws, let's go. 33, 27, Lakers, six point deficit. Do not let them shoot from that far behind the arc. We too slow on the defense. We need some serious man to man, but really look how tall he is in comparison.
00:15:07
Speaker
I just don't know. Russ was really trying there, that was a good little shot. Lakers down by eight. Still the first quarter in Toronto. One minute and 40 seconds left in the play. Lakers can't shoot. I mean, I'm not even trying to be a hater. You know this whole podcast is about being positive about the Lakers. That's the Laker ball. That ain't no foul.
00:15:28
Speaker
Russ looks sad, boy. Boy, Russ looks sad. What kind of defense are you playing on the side of your player? If he can clearly see the basket, there is no defense being played. You just accompanying him on the ride to scoring. 37-29 Lakers. We got 49 seconds left. Raptors got the ball. He just pushed them closer to the rim. 39-29. Back up to a 10 point deficit. Russ passed the ball, bro.
00:15:56
Speaker
All right, Russ, I was worried. I was like, you can't hit. Sorry, there was a whole transition happening. Thirty nine, thirty one Lakers actually got a little score out of that. It was a turnover and went back to Russ, missed the layup, got his own offensive board, went back up. Why would you take up all our time to shoot?
00:16:15
Speaker
I just don't understand why you can't set yourself up before you shoot. You ain't even have to rush. They got the rebound and still had seconds. Lakers down by eight. We do need AD in the chat. Ryan, come on, Lakers. We need AD. We do need AD so bad. He's got flu-like symptoms though. I honestly think they just thought this was a throwaway game. They're like, all right, cool. We already lost pretty bad yesterday in Cleveland.
00:16:39
Speaker
LeBron is now saying his left foot is sore. I think he just didn't really wanna expend all of his energy when there was a high likelihood that the game was gonna be lost anyway by the Lakers today. The Toronto Raptors are a good team. I mean, not as good, I mean, not as good as the Lakers, but they can shoot. You would need to play some pretty aggressive defense. The Lakers are 10 and 13, Toronto is 12 and 12, so this'll, you know, if they can, if Toronto can clutch this game, they now are in the winnings, if you will.
00:17:08
Speaker
So thanks Ryan for checking in with us. We are on a commercial break. What's up man? It's five o'clock here. It's dark as hell. Luckily I walked my dog already. Look how dark it is in Canada. And I just remember this eight o'clock there. So it is pretty late. It's only five here. End of the work day on the West coast. No AD, no LeBron, no Pat Bev, no Gabriel, rough.
00:17:34
Speaker
We could board, the fact that we're actually keeping up with the score shows that even the C squad can play a little basketball. We got eight point deficit. Man, they playin' Toronto startin' five, they should be gettin' blew out. But they ain't, we holdin' our own. Still got a lot of positive things to say. The Lakers definitely need to pass better. They are weak passers. We've been weak passers. Doin' all that flip stuff is not real for the NBA right now no more. You seen how Jai's out here takin' balls from people? Come on, quit playin'.
00:18:04
Speaker
I was another week past shooter, another air ball. We need somebody to try to take it in flush three. Come on. It was 42 31. The Raptors taking the Lakers. He blocked the hell out of that ball, but it was a foul. Luckily, unbelievable.
00:18:20
Speaker
All right, I had to get some water. That major happened. Toronto 42 Lakers 33, nine point deficit. Set up your feet before you shoot. I cannot understand why we just get the ball and then shoot. You see how everybody else is taking a breath, setting their feet? He blocked the hell out of that ball.
00:18:39
Speaker
Only for them to get it right back. And they're probably about to score three. Come on. That was a nice little momentum shift. Don't waste it. OK, Jones. 35-42 Lakers, Trail, Toronto. They doing just anything. Toronto can rebound. 44-35 Lakers.
00:18:57
Speaker
There you go. Pass it out. Oh, oh. Pass, one more pass. They just throw the ball away. We need tighter passes. We need tighter passes. Crazy. Come on, Russell. That was a good dunk. That was a quick dunk. Rebound. He still stole the ball again. Just pass. Just turnover after turnover. That was not a foul. He just threw his body into it. Just threw his body into it. Promise. Not a foul. Absolutely not a foul.
00:19:26
Speaker
All right, Toronto is at the free throw line right now. Come on, shooter. Taking it in for easy lay in. That's what I'm talking about. Toronto just missed the three. That's what I'm saying. If we can change the pace of the game, take care of the ball.
00:19:43
Speaker
Russell with him. He's really trying to shoot. I mean Russell Reeves, Austin Reeves. He's really trying to shoot, but man I'm freaking air balls. That's a defensive breakdown. If it's three people guarding one person, it's a defensive breakdown. We are in a crisis. Three offensive rebounds Toronto has. Three times they got the ball to score the same damn basket. Crazy. Man, seven minutes left in a second.
00:20:09
Speaker
Whoo, crazy, absolutely crazy. Then it's Schroeder, man. He's really working. He got knocked the hell out. You hear me? Knocked the hell out. But we need some people to try to go in. If not, we in trouble. Come on, Schroeder. And he hit the... Count it. Count it. Whoo.
00:20:30
Speaker
All right, the Raptors, 46 Lakers, 41 because Schroeder just hit this free throw. Five point deficit, we keeping up. Even though we playing sloppy and giving the ball away, like we really can't, we gotta come back from the half and be done with that. We need every first chance and second chance look that we get, and we need to really box out on defense. That was a hell of a screen. That wasn't no foul, his big ass could have put the ball in.
00:20:56
Speaker
The refs tripping, refs tripping. The refs are absolutely, that's crazy, absolutely crazy. Let me look into the future and see who the Lakers play next. All right, Friday the Lakers play again and they play the 76ers. That'd be an interesting game. Sunday they play the Pistons away. This is the longest road trip. I don't even know how long they've been on, but I feel like it's been like almost two weeks at this by the time that's over on Sunday.
00:21:20
Speaker
Tuesday they are here on the 13th at the Crypto.com Marina. I might see if I can get some last minute tickets. Take myself to the game so I can see Tatum. Damn, that would be a good thing. I might have to see what them tickets hitting for. In the comments, drop where y'all get y'all tickets from. I heard a seat geek, but game time was another one that somebody told me about. I believe one of my father-in-laws told me about it. I got like three minutes of one person on.
00:21:49
Speaker
Here you go right here. First thing, Celtics Lakers, the game is $103. This upper corner, this upper map, I need to see the map. Let's see if I can get some tickets. I'm looking for tickets for the Celtics game on Tuesday the 13th. Flash deal, how much is that? $686. And if I want court side, it's 4,000. Let me, okay, let me look to compare. That's crazy.
00:22:12
Speaker
Come on, Westbrook. Russ is playing good basketball. Celtics Lakers, let's go. Still looking for tickets, y'all. Sort by deal. Price. Price low high. 117. 330. I might have to go late in this. I want to get my money's worth. You heard? I need to make sure LeBron going to be cool. AD ain't got the flu. That was a good fake.
00:22:34
Speaker
Only to miss the damn. We are six minutes into the second quarter. Toronto leads 47 to Lakers 41 little six point deficit. Come on, get that rebound. That's right. Shooter get a bottle. Just slow it down. Russ.
00:22:50
Speaker
Brian, I'm telling you, you got a little bit of butterfingers. He needs to be able to strong. You know, I used to train to be a five. I was real big when I was a kid. I ain't getting no bigger. I just kind of stunning my little growth a little bit, but they used to be like, you got to finish strong. And I understand why you got to finish like you got some muscle. Cause if not.
00:23:06
Speaker
Lord, that's my fire alarm. I ain't no emergency. I'm gonna turn off the mic here so you can't hear that. This is one of the most trash like why I want to move from where we live right now. The smoke detector goes off at least two times a week for no reason. Like, bro, why can't I be live at five o'clock? As soon as you get home from work, the smoke detector going off.
00:23:28
Speaker
Man, I can't wait to send him this clip. I can't wait to send him this clip. Lonnie got blocked. I'm gonna pause this again so y'all ain't gotta hear that alarm. Alright y'all, hopefully the alarm is over. Lakers with another turnover because of one of them flip passes that goes into a three ball in transition. What the hell? What the hell? Lakers throw another flip pass that
00:23:51
Speaker
is easily picked off, and now we are in transition with a deep three ball from 23 Van Fleet, whoever this man is I ain't never heard of, because we just can't take care of the, what? Ball, man, crazy, just crazy, just crazy. All these casino commercials is crazy. That's literally all they play during the game. Morongo, Jack in the Box, 7.99 wings. Unbelievable.
00:24:20
Speaker
52-41, Lakers don't trail by that much, but it's gonna be hard for us to fight coming out of this half to make it make sense. We gotta play way better defensively, take better care of the ball, and then start taking the ball in. We not shooting well, even though all the small guys are on the court, we're in a tough spot.
00:24:41
Speaker
We're in a tough spot. We're slated to lose by team, slated to lose by 10. I don't know how to, how to put that any better. Fred van Vliet pull up 28 running, pull up, jump shot. You see that? That's crazy. All because of a what max Christie bad pass. You see that?
00:24:58
Speaker
Gary Trent Jr stole it. That's the problem. Max Christie is why that 28 foot running pull up jump shot even happened. No worries, I think they just gotta come out the half with a better attitude. That's just what's happening here. You just gotta come out with a better attitude. There's nothing else better to say.
00:25:15
Speaker
Off the dribble, he running. Crazy. Lakers haven't scored in three minutes. Unbelievable. You have to be ready to catch and shoot. We don't have no time for missteps. Look at him, Van Vleet. He fast, he fast. These boys, and it's not that the Lakers is so much older. I think that they got a lot of young boys, they just gotta run and play. They tired, I think, man. They gotta play again on Friday. I would be like, damn, they off. I ain't seen my family. They got me in this cold ass tundra of Canada.
00:25:44
Speaker
Crazy. Ain't nothing you could do.

Raptors' Dominance in the Game

00:25:47
Speaker
Ain't nothing you could do. 53-41, Toronto is at the free throw line. Hit him. 54-41, Russ bringing the ball up. Toronto is on an 8-0 scoring run. 8-0.
00:26:00
Speaker
Russ is trying to create some movement in the offense by taking the ball in and doing some of these trick shots so he can at least get fouled. That's a good strategy. So what you do is you just take it in a bunch of times, they foul you, they beat you up, and then they get in foul trouble, so they stop trying. And then you can maybe get some of them little flips, little, you know, behind the back situations. It looked like the coaches, yeah, it looked like Toronto was challenging the play.
00:26:25
Speaker
I'm not sure why they already up, but you know, more power to you, waste them challenges. They need to come out of the half with a new attitude. That's just what's happening. I've been looking for some new Lakers gear too. I was on Culture Kings. That's what I'm about to look at and show y'all a little something I was looking at. Ooh, all right, the officials are still looking.
00:26:45
Speaker
He did get fouled. It's like four people hand in his mouth playing. I'm not paying $300 for North Jersey that crazy. I don't know. I'm supposed to be showing y'all this. I'm looking at Lakers gear. I'm on culture Kings. Look at this old school hat. That's kind of cute. That's kind of cute. This one for sure. For sure. With the Rose on the side.
00:27:05
Speaker
Look how clean that is. I got long ass hair, so I got to get a snap back. Ain't no way in hell I could fit it. Ain't no way in hell I could do it fitted. These hockey jerseys kind of hard, but it's like, I ain't paying $129 for no hockey jersey. I don't play hockey. It look hot, but this one is cute. I really don't like this lace part though. It's like, this green is cute too. I do like these hats with all this stuff on it. The leather boy, look at that.
00:27:30
Speaker
This is cute. This one right here. Whatever I get, I'm gonna take some pictures. I need some new thumbnails for my videos. Lakers giving the ball away as usual. Lead is up to 15. 56-41. So the Lakers seven turnovers. Again, I said it before the game even started. This is our reoccurring theme is that we do not take care of the ball. The Lakers need a pass practice.
00:27:53
Speaker
Everybody feel like they throwing dimes and they not. And ain't nobody getting no rebounds. There's no defense. There's no care for the ball. We just throwing it up. Zero points in the last four minutes. Lakers are on the scoring drought. 56 to 41. So close to the half, it's like they just want to sink all of the fighting that they've been doing. Keep sharing. Oh, damn, you probably is looking at me shopping, huh?
00:28:16
Speaker
Oh, let me just crazy, crazy, easy shots. Austin tried to throw a floater up there, but it looked like he was falling. 60 to 41, 21 point lead here. Pass it, Russ, slow down. Shit.
00:28:31
Speaker
Ooh, ooh, 62-41 Lakers getting blown out. I thought we was going to get blown out at the beginning, but we was fighting. And now we back to our usual turning the ball over self. And I'm not being negative, because this is positive. It's overwhelmingly Lakers. You feel me? But at a certain point, damn, I just became a fan, and I'm ready for some accountability here. What are we doing? Wide open layup. He missed Toronto. Mr. Wide open layup came back for the dunk.
00:28:57
Speaker
Come on, shooter shooting free throws alone. Was it a tech? I don't know what happened there. Man, it's just crazy. Toronto's on a 16 and one scoring streak in the past four minutes. Dennis Shruder finally puts LA back on the boards here. Another quick floater. In the paint, that's all we want. We want points in the paint. Cause Toronto shooting all lights out. Wasn't even coming up for the rebound there. Fight, Lonnie.
00:29:24
Speaker
If, if the team gets three offensive rebounds for every look that they get to score, they shooting all lights out on the threes. They taking it in and getting their own rebounds. They putting it up. They just bet, bet, bet. I understand that they are a lot taller than us.
00:29:39
Speaker
But man, boy are we out of this advantage today. We are completely short handed and that's okay. We're not going to throw the season away over this game and that's why I think LeBron is not playing tonight. We just want to make sure offensive rebounds. Toronto has 11 offensive rebounds and the Lakers have five. We're not even going up to get our own rebounds at this point. It's like we anti-rebound.
00:29:59
Speaker
to the baseline, boom, boom. Man, am I gonna drink on halftime. Lonnie was trying with the floater. 66 44, my God. Toronto is just having their way, having their way. I'm still looking for Lakers gear on the back. I'm shopping, I'm outraged. Give me some like this. I like the leather hat because the leather with the regular Lakers logo, cause I got a black leather jacket now so I can really like match that shit. Yeah, rough first half for the Lakers.
00:30:24
Speaker
68 to 44, the Lakers are getting blown out. I don't know what more to say here, but we are extremely short-handed, so it's tough to watch this play out. Come on, man, he was really trying. Stop trying to dunk. Sometimes you have to protect the ball and take it in. Lay it up. It's not the cutest thing, and I know you want to be on SportsCenter with your poster, but bruh, we struggling. We don't have time for that shit.
00:30:51
Speaker
Yup, they are having their way defensively with the Lakers. That's what the commentators should say, guys. 70 to 44, the Lakers are getting blown. Come on, come on, Lonnie. Try to save us. Toronto almost hit the damn half court shot. All right, y'all, we at half.
00:31:07
Speaker
halftime, the Toronto Raptors have 70 points. The Los Angeles Lakers haven't even got 50 points yet. We have 47. Honestly, this is just a defensive breakdown. We know we got short guys. We know that we are short handed today. I hope they come in with a game plan. Just you have to figure out how to use what you got to get what you want. You can't let these boys just blow you out. So hopefully they go back into the locker room over the half, decide to play some better defense, decide to make the two balls.
00:31:34
Speaker
Get some good looks on some threes and really try to resurrect this game. But I'm going to go on a quick hiatus back in like 15 minutes after the half.
00:31:45
Speaker
All right, y'all, we are back from the half. All right, cool, cool, cool. Let's get a TV a little. All right, we just opened up the third quarter, 72-47 Lakers. Dang, if I'm froze, just let me know below. Oh, I think that just started me over. We good though. Let's go ahead and share my chrome tab. Have a little technical difficulty. Let's do a side by side joint. Throw me over there.
00:32:15
Speaker
Make that a little bigger for y'all at home. How about that? All right, 72, 49. Shooter has 14 points. He four from eight. He's not having a terrible game, but we just need a lot. We just need a lot, period. Whew, boy. Crazy. The Lakers are getting blown out. I'm about to start shopping for gear while I'm on here.
00:32:37
Speaker
Damn, why would they say that? The Lakers have yet to come back when they were trailing at the half so far this year. So pretty much everybody's just giving up at this point. I think, I mean, I think they can get closer. I don't know if they can pull this off. Damn, come on, there you go. Fight for them rebounds. Come on, Thomas Bryant. Bryant is moving slow. It's like he passed the ball and he was like, please score.
00:33:01
Speaker
man, one bad pass does lead to another. And that's usually what happens here. Shooter pastor just threw the ball out of bounds. He says, I'm saying, if you are going into the paint and you don't have any intention to shoot, you just going in there to be going in there, we're in a sitch. We're in a situation, man. There we go, Lonnie. What did they get a side? They got a Rigo. Is he even that big? Good turnover. Good turnover for the Lakers.
00:33:27
Speaker
There we go, Lonnie. He really trying to lead the team. He trying to lead the team. I mess with it. Take a shoot. Come on Lakers, play a little bit better defense. Come on, shooter. You got a little score there. That's what I'm saying. We don't need nothing major. We just need a little score. Need a little score here and there. Lakers are on a seven to no score run. That's all we can ask for. Hold them off a little bit so we can make up this 20 point deficit. Come on, Russ. Cook them. Shooter.
00:33:56
Speaker
Damn, it was wide open and hit the back of the rim, hard as hell. Still hit it, man. That was some solid defense. I think we getting to the point where it's like they just play. Come on, Juan. With a three from the corner, 76-54 Lakers trail. We're in the third, seven minutes left. This is the part of the game where you kind of try to figure out how it's gonna play. Come on, Reeves! Austin, man, woo, he roast up the hell out of that. Come on, Lakers, we could chisel away.
00:34:25
Speaker
He did all that fighting to get the ball and then dropped that mug right on the line out of bounds. Laker ball. We doing pretty good. We doing pretty good coming out of the half. Honestly, got a little, got a little scoring run. All right. While we on, while we on commercial, let's look at clothes. Of course, Laker gear. I'm not just shopping on here. I just, I need some new gear. I like this hat. That mug's suede.
00:34:51
Speaker
I don't know why I like Sway, but it don't rain that much here, so. That Kobe joint is $300? 300, pre-tax? To everyone, to Shaq boy. Give me this 129.
00:35:06
Speaker
I'm not into buying vintage faded t-shirts for $40. If you gonna give me a t-shirt that's already faded, ain't no way in hell you think you about to get $40 out of me. It's just not happening. This sweatshirt is kinda cold, but $100? This is why people bootleg. Make it reachable. Be for real, this is crazy. Every jersey is 300. This is tight, this little golfer. I like little hats like this. He got neck tattoos too, so you know. Translates well.
00:35:34
Speaker
This is gonna be my new activity during the commercials. Shopping. My thing be, why when I hit back, where do it take me? Back right here.
00:35:42
Speaker
I'm gonna send this out to all of the people listening just in case y'all want to give me something. Now this brown with this basketball on it with this Lakers hat is kind of fire. I'm on CultureKings.com for people who are listening. I forget this is an overwhelmingly visual experience. So, you know, if you listen into this podcast, consider just going to the YouTube and looking at the video, you know what I mean? So you can see what's happening on screen.
00:36:05
Speaker
A lot of these hockey jerseys are tight, but I just, I don't know if I like them laces, but this is the perfect attire for LA cause this code is hell right now. Some socks, two pack for $40, $20 a sock. That's code, that's code. Okay, okay.
00:36:21
Speaker
All right, we back, we back, we back. 76-54, Lakers ball. We're in the third quarterback from commercial break. Russ took it all the way in and just got a foul, which is what I said we should have been doing, right? You need to keep hitting the inner court so that they will accumulate a large amount of fouls because you're smaller. You can get knocked around. Do whatever you need to do. Don't hurt yourself because we need you, but you know, make them be in foul trouble.
00:36:50
Speaker
Toronto for the three in the corner. Two people on them. Two people on them. Come on Lakers. Austin, man, he is really earning his money. Crazy. All right, man. Lakers are trailing Austin with both free throws. I'm sorry, just one. That was a three point play. Watch your back, Austin.
00:37:09
Speaker
Come on Austin taking it in. This is, this is the kind of grit that I'm talking about. This is the kind of grit that I'm talking about. The Lakers are on a 10 and two score run for the last two minutes, rebound, shoot, get in for easy two. Damn, he missed it. He pushed the hell out of Russell before he came through. I don't know how he didn't think, and that should be him screaming that loud should be attacked. 78, 64, the Lakers are cutting the lead, cutting the lead, staying in the game. Come on.
00:37:38
Speaker
79 64 Raptors got it out on the side. That's a good three-point look Lakers. Come on rotate that defense Brother just rolled in 81 64 Lakers. We can't we can't get a stop on every on every play I understand that I understand that totally understand that we can't get up We can't get a stop on every play can't get a stop on every play crazy
00:37:59
Speaker
All right. We got dinner shooter at the, uh, free throw line knockdown two more. So we are 8166 Toronto dinner shooters made all seven of his free throws. That's wonderful. Holding it down just on the easy points. That's, that's all you can ask for. Right. That's that leg is down there scrapping for the ball, which is like wonderful scrap for the ball, but also get it at the end. You feel me?

Break Time and Merchandise Browsing

00:38:24
Speaker
Yeah. Got a shock clock violation on Toronto.
00:38:28
Speaker
blocking file. Come on Russ, take it in. So he found you 6,681 of Russ can knock these down. We can maybe get it in an attainable range. Still four minutes left in the third. They don't have to fight like hell all the way through the fourth just to cut down his deficit, man. That's why I said at the end of that second quarter, they kind of just let it fall off the wheels. And when you get that deep into it, it's like, yeah,
00:38:51
Speaker
Russ hits the free throws. Is that Drake at the game with his son? Come on. That was a foul. He stuck his booty out so he would get hit though. Kendrick Nunn going back into the game. Again, if you can't dribble, why you in the paint dribbling on a fast break? If you know for damn sure you can't dribble, why the hell would you reach down and try to put it through your legs? That don't make no sense. It's crazy, man. Here we go again with this crap.
00:39:19
Speaker
terrible shot off the mark and now here we are again crazy it's like Lakers got everybody in everybody on the bench everybody is a star they just they really trying hard it's not it's not really our fault here it's just got some injuries some sicknesses you know Patrick Beverly being in would even help this situation in my opinion because then he could at least apply some pressure on the defense I think he would force more turnovers but hopefully there will be other people
00:39:44
Speaker
who could take care of the ball a little bit better. And then maybe he can hit the three ball. You never know. You never know. Damn Lonnie. That was a good ass. That was a good ass move, but it just couldn't finish. It was a little too hard. At least he trying to get in the, in the paint. 87 68. The Lakers are currently still getting blown out by this one. Jeez. All right. Back to my shopping. Come with me. I'll see what's happening. Check that out.
00:40:08
Speaker
This is a cute sweatshirt, world exclusive, $104. I need, okay, look, I'm gonna just go to headwear, snap back. Okay, so now we got 74 hats because really that's all I'm looking for. Okay, that's cute. I like that old school, add that to my list. This brown one is almost getting me because I got so many outfits that that's just neutral color, but I don't think people are gonna recognize that that's a Lakers hat, though I'm not doing it.
00:40:33
Speaker
And that one, I love the one with the rose on it. I wanted that one for a minute. This one is added to my list too, I thought. The cream one is on there. We got the leather one. I like that green, but it's like, oh, do I really like the green? This old school one kind of gets me, but it's that flat brim. And it's like, this white one is thick.
00:40:55
Speaker
had some other ones I was looking at. I was in the store, the NBA finals Lakers, Bulls. This a good one for me to get only because I'm from Chicago. So it's like the perfect mix and match. I saw this in person though, and it looked kind of, this good kind of wax. It's like, not really. This one's cute though. This Los Angeles Lakers one right here. Now that one is a cute ass snapback.
00:41:20
Speaker
Oh, hell yeah. Oh, hell yeah. Toronto has scored 13 points off of 10 turnovers, which means that if we hadn't had those turnovers, the lead would have only been 10. We just, we making it worse. All right, try the game back home. It's just crazy. It's just crazy. 89, 68 Toronto. Crazy.
00:41:42
Speaker
We also gotta be able to hit open shots, y'all. Good. Come on, Lonnie. Lonnie needs a raise. 70-89. Thanks, Lonnie. Got it down to a 19 point deficit. Toronto with another three. Yet another three. Unbelievable. 92-70. Lead back up. Another offensive. Just another offensive rebound on Toronto, man. They just shooting and having a way. Ugh.
00:42:08
Speaker
Oh, I could throw up 94 70 leg is getting blown out. Come on Russ with the three.
00:42:16
Speaker
Jesus, Jesus, this man, crazy. 97.73, Fred Van Vliet, crazy. Come on, Lonnie, taking it in and making smart two plays, cutting the lead with a little bit of ball time. If you can get the fast break, that's cause Lonnie ain't got no haircut. This Lonnie with the no haircut. All right, beginning of the fourth, 97.75 going into the fourth quarter. It's tough. It's honestly tough, but hey,
00:42:45
Speaker
The Lakers are getting blown out. Wow. It's just one game. It's just one game. I will say now that I have professed that I'm a Lakers fan and I'm really like just watching every game and everything, I'm becoming more emotional, more emotionally charged. Man, when the Pacers hit that last, first of all, I'm from Indiana.
00:43:06
Speaker
So when the Pacers hit that dagger to just seal the fate of the game, I turned it immediately off. My wife was like, oh, we're going to do it again. And I couldn't stomach seeing it again because we have played that game so well. And then they just gave it away and it felt like such betrayal. So now before I was like, yeah, I would just check the stats.
00:43:25
Speaker
But now I'd be really messed up, man. I'd be really messed up. If anybody was going to save us, it would have been Lonnie Westbrook Reeves. It's a tough time to be a Lakers fan. Crazy. I'm looking at Twitter. I don't think anybody has anything positive to say at this point. Most Laker fans are pretty quiet, probably. Let me see what Twitter's talking about.
00:43:48
Speaker
Somebody on here said, if you're watching the Lakers game, turn it off and hug your loved ones. So like, this is a heartbreak. Ain't really nothing you can do. This would have been a great day for sports betting. Just open, open the fourth quarter with a three, man. Would anybody be mad if I just turned this stream off and we all just went to bed? Cause what the hell? Whoo.
00:44:08
Speaker
Brian with the quick. That's what everybody on Twitter is talking about. It's defending. I can't wait to watch the real teams play Celtics versus like, uh, Celtics versus sons. Y'all is that coming on tonight? I swear to God. Look at me. I'm like, Oh, okay. Let me see. I'm going to watch that game too. It's coming on tonight. Yeah, that come on tonight. We're going to watch that game ESPN. Okay.
00:44:32
Speaker
Russ running out of his shoe, man. 104 to 77 landslide still happening over here. I mean, it ain't really nothing I could say here, but I will say that we have been doing a really good job on the road. We've been a really good job on the road. There are a lot of good wins. There was a lot of good positive things that have been happening. A.D. got the flu. LeBron had a little bit of left, uh, soreness of his left foot. I'm not sure what the hell happened to Patrick Beverly. I think Gabriel's got the same kind of injury. Um, but,
00:45:02
Speaker
I think they just beat up. They just beat up. They are just beat up and you've been on the road for so long. What is this KBL man? I'll be looking through Twitter trying to find, you know, valid things. So go to these Legos. Yo, these, uh, these lawyer commercials be giving me, I fell off a plate and my shoulder was messed up real bad.
00:45:28
Speaker
What is this, man? This called Jacob, dude. I think he sponsored the Lakers or something. He didn't make that much money as a dang-all attorney that he like, I sponsored the Lakers. Every time you get hurt, call me. Man, what a struggling, just struggling. Come on, Russ. Passing the ball, 79-104. Make a smart plays. We should've been doing this at the beginning, but should've could've woulda, should've could've woulda. 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. There we go, Russ with the rebound. He knocked his ass out. That should be a foul.
00:45:58
Speaker
It was just a common foul. They was reviewing the, the reviewing the footage cause it looked like he got knocked off. There we go. Bryant, Thomas, Brian got 10 points for rebounds.
00:46:09
Speaker
I don't know when these rainbow passes. That was the number one thing my coach told me when I was playing basketball. Don't just throw the ball up. Here we go again. 13 toner was for the Lakers. 104 to 81. That was a good block. Come on, Brian, coast to coast. Thomas Brian trying to fight. That was a good hustle. That was a good hustle. That was a great defensive play, great offensive play. Three in the corner. That should be the, that's the theme of this game. Three in the corner. And that's why the Lakers got blew out. Three in the corner. Pass it out.
00:46:38
Speaker
Not on your man. He's spraying his ankle. One eight minutes and 59 seconds left in the game. Possible injury on the Lakers side. I don't even know if they got no more players. Who next? Who next? They need to have tryouts. The Lakers need to have tryouts. Yo, man, this is a tough.
00:46:59
Speaker
I'm at a loss for words, but I'm trying to stay overwhelmingly positive again,

Game Reflection and Lakers Fan Experience

00:47:03
Speaker
man. We ain't got nothing. I'm still shopping. Lakers y'all link is broke on y'all website for shopping. That's crazy. I should be able to hit score and shop. I used to work for Fanatic Shaw. 65% off. Okay. Discount code hype. I'm telling, let's just look at these jerseys. This the NBA store? Why the hell would I buy Mitchell and Ness? I could give me a LeBron jersey for $51 today.
00:47:27
Speaker
Oh, do I want to, should I get LeBron Jersey or Anthony Davis Jersey? Three is my favorite number, but six is also, and it's LeBron of all of, I'm gonna give me a LeBron Jersey. $38 with a coat. Is this a t-shirt or this youth? Wow. I'm pretty much a kid. ZM. Y'all need to cut some of these people. Come on, Junior.
00:47:50
Speaker
Why the hell do they make women's jerseys? He's like, I'm just, he definitely travel. Kobe jersey is, oh, it's a Mitchell and Ness. I'm like, okay, what's happening here? Hey, Brody, what's happening? You hollering at the thing. Why is Russell Westbrook jersey more than LeBron's? Just letting them have them easy shots. He's three with the code, looking at all of these. How crazy would it be for me to get a youth jersey? Cause I'm tiny. Let me see if I can get it.
00:48:18
Speaker
All right, Toronto, 109.85, Lakers getting blown out, man. There is a mismatch. Every defensive matchup for this game has pretty much been a mismatch. Seven minutes and 34 seconds left in the fourth quarter. I, like many of you, am pretty much over this game. Nothing I can do. All right, Laker ball. If we can get to 100, that would be a feat. Good job taking it in.
00:48:42
Speaker
Come on Kendrick. None. Crazy. 1 12 89. That was they actually trying to catch up a little bit. The Lakers, they got six minutes left. That's what I said. They took the pressure off. Lonnie is really trying. I really can commend him. At least he trying to post up for the go for the three through it right out of bounds.
00:48:59
Speaker
112, Toronto Lakers 89, fourth quarter, we got six minutes and 33 seconds left in the game. The Lakers trying to put up at least a couple more points. That was a foul. Thomas Bryant, I think he is really trying today. Thomas showed up, Lonnie showed up. Austin, I think he showed up higher, but I mean, they was getting, they was beating him up.
00:49:19
Speaker
You know, they probably been watching that game film and giving them less shots. Thomas got 12 points, five rebounds. He should have 12 rebounds, five points. What the hell? You a big, you need to be grabbing them boards. Both free throws, Brian. 91, 112. Now I think that was a quick jump ball as well. It wasn't really no jump ball like that.
00:49:42
Speaker
You gotta give them a chance to actually like battle for the ball. Whoo, shooter. You gotta be able to stop hitting the front of the basket. 114 to 91, another hell of an offensive rebound. There we go, Max Christie. Taking it in for the two. It's like literally they can hear me speaking and the coach is telling them what I'm telling them. Cause I'm saying you gotta get them two balls.
00:50:03
Speaker
We'd be taking too many three attempts and you know you already can't shoot. You at the back, you at the bottom. You got to really play to your advantage. Five minutes and 31 seconds left in the game. Toronto Raptors with 114 and Lakers 93. Toronto is at the line. There you go. Get that rebound. 115 to 93. Toronto missed a free throw. Lakers got the rebound. Take it in. Way to go.
00:50:28
Speaker
95 115 Kendrick none turning it up at the end of the game. All right Lakers hit the free throw there 96 117. There we go. Just let them take an open three.
00:50:40
Speaker
They must've knew he couldn't shoot cause he burked that, but that looked close, too close for comfort. There we go. Legas in 100, 117. They cutting the lead, cutting the lead. At least they ain't about to go out too crazy. You know, they're going to fight to the end, get them points down. You need to be able to put your hand in the air though with the defense. Come on. All right. They filing Thomas Bryant.
00:51:02
Speaker
Crazy. Come on, Thomas Bryant. Hit the free throw, there we go. 101-117, so the Lakers officially earned triple digits. 102-117, Lakers with both free throws. Run back, we don't have time for no flashy plays. That was a good move. Come on, in the paint. Brown Jr. 106-119, Lakers not going down without a fight. Three minutes and six seconds left in the fourth quarter. Toronto has the ball, quick pull up, no dice.

The Lakers back at the line 106, one 21 and the first free throw is good. Found them from behind. So we get to, there we go. Lakers ball again, one 23 Toronto 108. We are back up in the numbers with the lead. Two minutes and 19 seconds left Lakers call a timeout. I hope they're not trying to save this game. Coach, just run off the clock. Your players are tired. Run the clock off. Crazy.

Crazy. Hopefully they just run this right off and then we can just go on about our business and wait for Friday for a better game. Dang, evidently the pace is on a 45 or 18 run. Wow. Who the hell are the paces playing right now? Who the hell are the paces playing?

Paces ain't even winning by that much. They playing the temper wolves. 80 to 16, 76. Stop trying to throw that ball across like these dudes ain't got a crazy vertical jump. What's wrong with y'all? You can't throw the ball halfway across the court with one hand. Now we back in transition. Three ball.

Just one minute and 54 seconds left for this. Stop trying to one hand pass, bro. You cannot skip pass across the court in the NBA like that. Jesus. Give you a migraine. 15 points. Kendrick. None. I feel like everybody's doing a part, but it's just these stupid as passes. Minute and 30 seconds left. One 26, one 11 Lakers.

Now we got the D squad in one 13, one 26 Lakers, just scored an easy two. It's a little lob, almost alley you tipping alley you, but now it's five Lakers getting the rebounds. They must've told them everybody's fired. If any one more offensive rebound, go to Toronto through the ball right out of bounds, but it was tipped 42 seconds left in the fourth quarter, one 26, one 13. It's obvious here that the Lakers aren't going to be able to pull out the wind, but they can at least play into the end.

Toronto got the ball with 38 seconds left. It looks like our fate is sealed here. Damn. Come on Lakers. 27 more seconds. At least score. Don't do no dumb shit. The Euro in the game with a Euro step long layup. 10 seconds left. Toronto's walking the ball.
