Speaker: Who is Sterling Brown? Can Boogie actually be good for the Lakers? What about the fact that Kyle Kuzma is a free agent? And will AD return just in time for a playoff run? All this and more on today's episode of Lakers, I choose you. Now before we jump off today's episode, let's address the elephant in the room.
Speaker: The Lakers haven't sucked anywhere nearly as much as people thought they would without LeBron and A .D. Reeves, Shruder, Westbrook, Walker, and even Bryant have all stepped up to not only keep the Lakers afloat, but to make sure that we win some games on these road trips. We've gotten some good offensive looks from those performers, as well as great defense. To be honest, things could be a lot worse than they already are.
Speaker: The Lakers are currently 17 and 21 and have some major opportunities to make some improvements with the roster through trades. Let's talk about it. Sterling Brown just signed a 10 -day contract. From the looks of his footage, we might be able to get some three -point range out of him as well as some offensive movement and playmaking. Adding a big guy right now is really a good idea because we don't know exactly when AD is gonna be back. It doesn't hurt that Sterling can knock down a three.
Speaker: Now word got out that Boogie is actually working out for the Lakers. And my question to you is, would he actually be good to add to the Lakers roster? My short answer is, I'm not sure. Looking at some of his past footage, it looks like he's got some defensive breakdowns. And right now, the Lakers don't need any more defensive distraction, like Patrick Beverly. We need some people who are going to play awesome defense and get us some second chance offensive looks on rebounds. We'll see how this Boogie saga goes.
Speaker: To be honest, I don't really care who gets traded, but if anybody from the Lakers organization is by chance watching this show, please can we trade Patrick Beverly? Again, his energy is very disruptive to the Lakers grit and grind. We'll be hustling to make plays and he will make a stupid foul or act like a hooligan. And now we're pushed back even farther without too much offensive contribution from Patrick Beverly.
Speaker: We've seen people like Dennis Schroeder and Austin Reeves step up before Patrick Beverly has offensively. In my opinion, respectfully, he can go. Now Kyle Kuzma is a free agent, y 'all. That really excites me because I didn't think Cuz really ever needed to leave LA. I know for sure he misses the nice weather because his girlfriend is a model and hangs out out here.
Speaker: But also, I think he misses hooping with the Lakers, to be honest. So I would love to see Cuz here. I think if Kuzma makes his way back to LA, we can absolutely forget our boogie conversation. But you know what? I would kind of be okay with that. Let's toss aside a crazy trade rumor that I saw on the internet. Kyrie to LA.
Speaker: I don't think Kyrie has any reason to make his way to LA. Brooklyn is playing really well, so I think he's going to stay put. Additionally, we kind of don't need another point guard right now. Truder is really holding it down. Westbrook is coming off the bench and doing well. We good. We need some big men and some people who can shoot. All in all, the Lakers are playing really well together, and that's all that you can ask for.
Speaker: They've been making things happen on the offense and getting us some good defensive stops. Let's see how the rest of the free agency term goes and how they attack the rest of the season.
