Starfield DLC Quick Review

00:00:22
Speaker
People. My name is Michael, and as always, I am here with Dwayne. Hey, everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying the new DLC. Michael, I cannot wait to hear your 10-cent review.
00:00:35
Speaker
Yeah, my 10-cent review. I like it.

Community Feedback and Criticism

00:00:40
Speaker
That's all I'm paying for it. There you go. for it You like it. Okay, done. And that concludes our podcast. that That's all you need to know. um Yeah, i'm I'm quite enjoying it, and it's very interesting to see some of the impressions. I don't think that it is... You can criticize certain things,
00:01:01
Speaker
Of course, you can always criticize through yeah certain things. and You always can. To be clear, we're kind of in in a bubble in our Discord of positive reviews for Shatspaw or Shattered Space. Shatspaw, yeah. you know Until you go onto YouTube and then you see kind of the people that that ah their whole their whole thing in life is... It seems to be revolving around just being negative on starfield. I don't know I guess you know looking at at at some of the views I guess that works, but it gets clicks, but I mean looks for sure we we know our audience and we know our audience Like starfield of course yeah why else would you be here? Well? I mean of course because we're awesome, but
00:01:47
Speaker
That's right. But yeah people are people in the discord um where It's it's so nice to see because like we're just having a good time and there are yeah there like there are I'll say this if someone in our discord says oh, you know what? there's something that I wish they did or there's like a Criticism they have at least then I can see it's a little bit. It's coming from ah a real place. It's coming from a yes person who I actually love Starfield and might be a little disappointed. That that is a opinion that i I value exactly because you know that they've actually put the time in or at least some time and they have a valid criticism. I can appreciate that. I was telling ah just my wife, I was telling her yesterday how
00:02:32
Speaker
I was like, yeah, it's it's like one of those times where like you see a movie and you just loved it. like You come out of the movie and you're just like, oh my my God, what a great movie. And then you you're like, what do what do other people think of this movie? And you go online and it's just like, this is crap, it's dog crap, it sucks. Yeah, I can't believe you like Ishtar. I mean, that's... That's out there. No one knows what that is. I don't even know what that is. I'm going to have to look that

Character and Bug Discussion

00:03:00
Speaker
up. You're a film guy and you don't know what each star is? Wow. You know, it's that it sounds familiar. I'll say that. um Yeah, you did stump me. i it's It is interesting though. I will say this.
00:03:12
Speaker
um There is a, I want to talk real quick about two, I want to call them valid criticisms. One of the things was people were saying they expected Andresia to have more to say. aha can Can I interrupt you because I want to set the scene.
00:03:31
Speaker
Let's rewind. I mean, today's Wednesday, the game came out Monday for us. yeah Set me up. Like you you, I think you said in the last podcast, your schedule's flexible. You took Monday morning and you played the expansion. Walk me through that. What was your very first experience without kind of too many spoilers because I haven't done it. But just kind of give me a general sense of of your experience.
00:03:55
Speaker
i you know i I do exactly what they say where I go to a star system that I i don't have a mission in. There was the space station. I decide to take Andresia with me because that makes the most sense.

Exploring the Space Station

00:04:10
Speaker
Here's the thing, like she does have good things to say. So i'm i'm there's two points I wanna make on this is that um people that are saying that she's not saying enough, apparently, number one,
00:04:23
Speaker
Apparently, there is a bug with the leadership level four perk. Apparently, it is causing her to not say things that she normally would say. So that is unfortunate. And you have that perk. I don't. I don't. so So I'm just, I'm bringing that up because anyone who might be feeling that disappointment like, wow, Andreja's saying nothing, you might have that bug.
00:04:52
Speaker
Oh, OK. First off, I feel like that's something that they'll try to patch very quickly. Yeah, like that's I think so kind of ah definitely immersion breaking. Yeah, I just wanted to bring that up because someone might be experiencing that. um but So I'm playing, and ah once I finally, like there's, ah this isn't really a spoiler, we all know there's a space station first off, and then somehow, ooh, you get to Varun Kai. Just a are you surprised by that, how that, because I don't know what it is yet. I haven't even stepped into the expansion
00:05:29
Speaker
Were you pleasantly surprised? Were you like, oh, now I'm here in Vrunkai? What was that transition like for you? the The way you actually end up getting there isn't isn't that mind blowing. You're going to be like, oh, OK. It's not that mind blowing. But I will say, the reason i'm I'm very happy with how they did the DLC is because the space station itself is such a fun time.
00:05:58
Speaker
Oh, okay. Like, it already is great. Yeah. Is it like Nanu Nanu and you step out of an egg and you're in Varun Kai or? That's a reference. I did understand that reference. Oh, you did? Okay, you got that one. Yeah, Mark and Mindy.
00:06:14
Speaker
um Yeah, it's exactly like that. Actually, they have you say the words nananana, which I found very controversial. I don't know what the legal ramifications are going to be. They got the rights to Morgan Mindy for that. I bet you could probably get them pretty cheap these days. Because, yeah, it's so, so out there.
00:06:36
Speaker
Okay, if now that we've brought this up, if there are any modders out there, um please look up Mork from Mork and Mindy, and i would love ah I would love that outfit. Can we get that outfit in the game, please? Yeah, skin-tight rainbow. It's like, ah who's the exercise guy that just passed away, Richard? Oh, Richard Simmons. Richard Simmons. Almost said Richard Gear. But yeah.

Enjoying the DLC Experience

00:07:00
Speaker
This reminds me of, like, I don't know, skin-tight outfits. But he wears shorts though, so it doesn't make sense. I don't know. Where's my brain? I also think... Didn't he have, like, rainbow suspenders? Yeah, maybe that's what it was. Like, Morke did. I think that's... Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Morke. Yeah, that's... So, anyway, I would love to run around Starfield looking like Morke.
00:07:20
Speaker
um ah Yeah, so the the space station is so fun and I've even what's nice is like there's even like a couple moments like like they didn't have to do this this was just the transition from our you know universe to the to the star system where Varun Kai is and Like I'll say like there's there's a nice couple little surprises like just during the gameplay, which is really fun So I had a good time with that today immediately dropped weapons like Like the new Gatlin laser I've been hearing so much about. Was that available in the space station? What blows my mind is is you're taking the game slow. in In my video, I even told people, don't rush. like Just enjoy the world, the atmosphere. So I'm actually not rushing through it.
00:08:14
Speaker
And it's it's like that's that's what I love about our community and our podcast and our channel is we are not reviewers. I am i feel no obligation to quickly hurry through the DLC so I can give my review. Who cares? yeah I'm enjoying it. like I'm enjoying the world and I'm not gonna rush it. And actually, I saw a comment on our YouTube channel that They actually, they quoted me as saying, I'm not gonna rush it. And they they were like, great, that's all I needed to know about this channel. Like they see that as a positive. um Yeah, and there's no reason to rush. And we said that in our last podcast too, we should you should take it organically. Like myself, I don't feel like I'm ready for the expansion because first of all, I'm only level 40, believe it or not. I have over 140 hours in the game, but I'm only level 40. Tim Monam says you're ready, man.
00:09:10
Speaker
He did say that you're ready. now So so like if i feel what's interesting is like I'm in the final battle of the pirate's quest line. right oh yeah yeah And I'm getting my butt kicked. So my spaceship either sucks or I'm terrible at space battle.
00:09:28
Speaker
I just, okay, I just did this quest line again and yet I found that final battle so freaking hard. I was gonna ask you for foot tips. yeah I was like, I wonder if Michael has any tips for me because i I specifically like I have hundreds of thousands of credits that I've just been gathering the entire time. I really haven't spent any of my money.
00:09:48
Speaker
And ae I was like, all right, i' know I'm gonna spend some money on my new ship. And actually one of the gatekeeping mechanisms of kind of that quest line I feel is that it makes you modify your ship. If you've never done any ship modifying up to that point, you have to add an equipment plate, which again, I had to go into our Discord and I was like, why am I not? yeah like guy yeah So is it is her name Jade, the ship technician on the key, whatever her name is, she doesn't actually have that equipment plate. So if you're trying to do that quest line, that's wild. I mean, yeah, you actually have to leave, go to a key or some other ship technician, get an equipment plate, start doing your ship modifications. But anyway, long story short, I spent like
00:10:39
Speaker
I don't know, four or five hours is modifying my ship. And I was like, so proud. I was like, yeah, I yeah i got the dagger from whatever quest that was. And I decided to base my modifications on the dagger. I was feeling pretty good about it. Got into that battle and just.
00:10:56
Speaker
died like 15 times. Yeah, you've got to have shields that are like way, way up. You've got to have weapons that are way up. um And then, of course, you have to have the a reactor that can handle powering all those systems. Yeah. Honestly, like it's tough because

Role-Playing and Challenges

00:11:15
Speaker
I'm level one hundred and thirty two. OK, literally but almost like 90 levels higher than me.
00:11:23
Speaker
ninety two Right, but it's still hard because every time you go to new through New Game Plus, which i'm I think I'm on six, um it will it's sort of boosts the difficulty of the world. right So um everything is definitely scaled up because I was going in there thinking I was just gonna school everyone.
00:11:47
Speaker
And it was really, really tough. Well, the reason I brought that up is because it felt like a gatekeeping mechanism, i.e. Bethesda says, right look, you need to get into the ship builder, figure some basics out before you can progress this quest line any further. yeah but I kind of feel like that with Shatspaw.
00:12:06
Speaker
like Not necessarily, I do feel like I could go start that quest line, but there's a there's a couple things like outposts. I haven't even touched outposts. um I do wanna do a little more ship building and I wanna complete a few more quest lines. Like I'm still stuck between the UC and and the pirates, right? So, yeah well, sort of. I mean, that that's another thing about that quest line is I didn't feel like there was a ah direct,
00:12:35
Speaker
Um, like stop sign that said, Hey, if you go this way, UC is going to be your enemy. Because right like they said, I opened fire at Genadine. I didn't, I snuck through that entire, whatever I'm getting on. Yeah. So then like they put try to put me in jail and then wow whatever. <unk>sh And I actually wanted to, so I wanted to be like a trader to the pirates, but now I'm like turning into a full, full pirate, but.
00:13:04
Speaker
Them's the breaks. I gotta say man. I we were I was you know, I was talking to my wife about um did you know different ways to play the game and um Because she's she's starting to get back into it and try it again and and I was just I was saying I was I would love to like really role play a character, but man like I I'll go to Sistef and be like, yes, let's let's do it. And then I go to the Crimson Fleet and I'm like, I don't know, these pirate missions sound pretty fun. And then I go to Neon and someone's like, do you wanna be in a gang? And I'm like, hell yeah, let's do it. like and So it's really tough to stick to a character. um It's funny, because when you get the extra dialogue options, I have like 10 of them.
00:13:53
Speaker
I've got like yes Bouncer, I've got like Freestar Collective, I've got the Crimson Fleet, you know, and it's it's kind of interesting with all the extra options. you're level 40. Right. I just, I get so much like, i'm pretty much a I'm pretty much a doctor and a thief and like all these different things um just from my skills.
00:14:16
Speaker
I love that you have those options though. i love I love how if you have a certain skill, it unlocks dialogue that moves the story forward. like I think that's really cool. And sometimes you don't even have to persuade. like right um Sometimes it's like the option is there to persuade, or if you're like skilled in security,
00:14:38
Speaker
yeah Like I had one of those the other day. I just I knew about security So I was able to just talk my way through that. Yeah um But yeah back to back to Shatzba Yeah, I totally understand where you're coming from like sort of like my experience like getting into Varun Kai um This is in reference to my intro at the beginning that said I'm switching religions.

Religious and Biblical Elements

00:15:01
Speaker
Mm-hmm I gotta tell you man. I I've I've been I've been wooed by Varun Kai because here's the thing, they are a closed off people and I think they handled this very well because so I'm not really, I'm not spoiling anything other than than talking about
00:15:23
Speaker
a gameplay mechanic that you would assume anyway. Everything that you know about Varun Kai, everything we know about them leading up to the DLC, you know they're secretive, right? they You can't even get to their freaking star system. Naturally,
00:15:39
Speaker
Your character, you would think, right, would not be accepted there. Probably shot on sight, can't get into the city. Well, it's handled very well. there's There's a reason that I won't say, but something happens and there's a reason where they decide to give you a chance. Okay.
00:15:59
Speaker
But again, true to form, they will not let you in unless you quote unquote become one of them. The reason I say that they handled it really well is because I'm sure there are people, I i mean, I know there are, we see it in the Discord, who are like, dude, I'm not gonna become a Varun, like, I'm not gonna become a Varun person, right? I'm not gonna join up with them. You always say that until you you know marry someone yeah in that.
00:16:29
Speaker
Religion and then like I guess I'll just go this week and then one week turns out in 10 years. That's right um So what I like is that you you have to go through the steps to be a part of them But what I like is that the dialogue options make it make it very clear that you can go in as a true believer You can go you can be little the religion the entire step of the way And what's cool is you you can just be like, no, Varun is stupid and I don't believe any of this. And they're still gonna be like,
00:17:11
Speaker
Well, the great serpent sent you here for a reason. So like, I like the way that they handled it so that you can play it however you want. And they still like believe that you're there. Like, but me personally, back to that intro, I don't know, man, I'm i'm i'm there and I'm like,
00:17:33
Speaker
All right, give me the tattoos. Let's do this. Let's jump in. Absolutely. I'm becoming, yeah what's what's cool is is I'm playing it as I will do, I even had a dialogue option that was like, I will do what it takes to help people. I'm here to help your people.
00:17:53
Speaker
And I don't like it. So that's kind of my angle right now I don't know if I believe this but I'm here to help so I I love that you can play it any way you want Yeah, you know last last podcast we talked a little bit about some of the religious influences I wanted to say like the scene where the the boy has the flashback in the temple there was like some Moses energy there and like the whole storyline with like Sarah putting, wasn't Sarah the mother of Moses? Was it Sarah? She puts Moses in the river, right, to protect him from the fire? Oh, what a great, yes. Yeah, and so, and I apologize if I got the mother's name wrong. She sends him away. It's been a while. It's been a while, but that whole scene of like the mother protecting the infant child and then the child being like wrapped fully, it just had this,
00:18:50
Speaker
like very Moses vibe to it and like this kind of that's true person who delivers his people from this uh you know evil affliction or or whatever to yeah i don't want to follow up with that her name is Joe Chabad Joe Chabad way off so you were not a way off even close i didn't even i didn't know that i i just I knew her as the mother of Moses. That's a deep cut. Jochabad. Yeah. Jochabad. We gotta bring that name back for the next daughter I have. That's it. Yeah, Jochabad. Jochabad. That should be an easy sell.
00:19:31
Speaker
Yeah, and and when you entered in... Well, first of all, give me your impression of the city. You made it to the city, no doubt. um I guess that's where you yeah come out. Yeah.
00:19:41
Speaker
um but how would you How would you rate the city as it compares to the other cities that we know in the settled systems?

Exploring Dazra and Beyond

00:19:48
Speaker
Let's say, first off, that of the three vanilla so cities, Akila,
00:19:56
Speaker
and so yeah aquila New Atlantis, and Neon, my prep my first favorite was Neon already. um this city ranks ah up there. So Dazra is, I wanna say, I don't know if it's because it's new and different, but right now it is my favorite. No. Oh really, that's not what I was expecting you to say. Maybe I would say Neon first and then Dazra as a ah second. okay So here's what I here's what i love.
00:20:36
Speaker
Uh, Dazra feels cozy like, like Neon. You know Neon is, it's all closed in, right? I was gonna say that's why I don't like Neon is because it feels a little claustrophobic with like the rain and you're kind of inside and then you got to go in the underbelly.
00:20:52
Speaker
um right I prefer Aquila City because i I live in the desert in real life and it has that very desert-y, kind of like adobe-style looking buildings and the great outdoors, big sky country, so that appealed to me. Well, I still think you'll like Dazara because Dazara is, it's open right But there's like, a there's a cozy peacefulness to it. And maybe it's because it's like, it's even when it's daytime, it's sort of dark, right? That the atmosphere is is dark. So it it has sort of like that, almost a, you know, Alaska,
00:21:34
Speaker
quiet quietness to it. Did you go off planet it and look around the solar system a little bit? I still haven't. I have i have been so far determined. um like I wanted to so badly. I was like, there's a moon. um Basically, both planets, and there's two big planets that are gas giants. And then each one has a bunch of moons.
00:22:02
Speaker
Off the top of my head, um without checking, I think the other planet, like away from DASRA, has... it's like four or five moons. So there's there's a lot to explore there and I wanted to jump over there so badly and I could if I wanted to but it's like I'm really like I like the feeling of I've landed in DASRA and I'm not leaving until This is all sorted. Mm-hmm. So gonna get to get to the bottom of this ah
00:22:34
Speaker
two-hour mystery movie that you're a part of, the storyline. Not to say it's two hours, I'm just saying. like it It feels very contained, is what I mean by that. Yep, yep. Well, and i it's almost in in a way, it's to show my appreciation for what they've done. I've i've told you in the past how um when I played Skyrim and they they added the survival mode,
00:23:01
Speaker
So survival mode lets you you know like not fast travel and like you're stuck in the cold, you have to keep yourself warm, you have to eat.
00:23:12
Speaker
and I've talked about how the original game wasn't designed that way because you you like you'll talk to a person in the city all the way in the southeast and they're like, hey, can you go tell my brother something up in the northwest? You're like, okay, be right back.
00:23:30
Speaker
um And so I love, ah you know, how even Starfield was kind of like that, right? You travel here, travel here, travel here. So the fact that they made this whole DLC, this one land area, oh man, it's like, Bethesda's not gonna know how I'm playing the game, but almost in a way to to appreciate it more, I'm like, yeah, I'm staying here. I'm staying in this area. I'm not fast traveling away.
00:24:01
Speaker
um And it's honestly, the experience has been richer for it. Yeah, absolutely. and um There's been a lot of talk about changing how players play the game in this expansion.

Complaints and Criticisms

00:24:16
Speaker
So it's a more seamless, yeah less loading screens. Again, you and I don't have a problem with the loading screens, but it seems to be a point of contention with some people. For me, i actually, every time I see a loading screen now in in Starfield, I just, I mean, i'm I'm on a PC, so it's like two to three seconds. And I'm like, people are complaining about this? Like, what's going on? ah I don't know. i Again, it's going from yeah King's Quest back in 1985, where I would wait minutes
00:24:50
Speaker
for the next loading screen. so i mean this yeah maybe Maybe it's just perspective, who knows? It's just become one of these things that um it's just a copy-paste complaint. Do you remember some of the loading times on like the original PlayStation with the CDs?
00:25:07
Speaker
they would yeah They would be like literally yeah two minutes for some some games. You would just be sitting there. ah ah Loading screens all the way up until like, so I'm a console player. People have bad memories because loading screens took a long time all the way, like on most games, all the way up until this current generation. yeah like It wasn't until the SSD drives um were that prolific that we got these fast. yeah i mean Remember Grand Theft Auto? That game is huge open world and you would wait four or five minutes sometimes for the the initial
00:25:45
Speaker
The initial load-up. Yeah, it was like you were just sitting there staring at that screen. There's Subnautica, one of my favorite games, Subnautica. On the Xbox One, the loading screen, I don't even know how. I want to say it was like ah probably like two to three minutes. like It was like you you're you have a ritual. you load up the game you let it start and then you go and make yourself a sandwich or something like like you would go that's when you would take care of things around the house is while your game is loading all the things you've been putting off I Need to go clean the clean the bathroom as you go rake up those leaves while this loads Yeah, you know the and then
00:26:36
Speaker
Yeah, it's such a non-issue. But yeah, overall, I'm really enjoying the DLC. Yeah, just exploring and they really, um I will say the other criticism um that I've seen is the lack of new ship parts. um here's the Here's the thing about that. um And this is what I said in the Discord.
00:27:05
Speaker
For all of our, like, ah genuine people that love Starfield and were hoping that that we were gonna get new ship parts, if that's you, my heart goes out to you. And i'm and that's that's unfortunate. Mine doesn't. And I will. Because I honestly, wellm seriously, because I feel like they're gonna add it. What would be, that's such a natural, obvious thing to add is, like, Varun ship parts.
00:27:34
Speaker
whatever company that may be. Apparently, there's an explanation. and okay and they they I myself haven't done this, but somebody said that if you go to the ship technician in DASRA, they will explain why. They base they mostly use like, Stroud parts.
00:27:55
Speaker
which Hey, there could be a conspiracy there. Maybe I'll make another conspiracy video about where Walter Stroud is getting his money. Mm hmm. OK. Absolutely. I think that there's something there. And if you guys haven't watched the Bobby Katz video that Michael created, I highly recommend it. It's 100 percent true, too. OK. We know what we're talking about. Like it's this legit. Yeah. Yeah. It wasn't made for comedy purposes whatsoever. We actually know not at all. Mm hmm.
00:28:27
Speaker
he's He's a spy, for reals. Basically, I sympathize if if you were hoping for that. yeah But they never said it. And that's that's when I go, okay, if you're disappointed, ah, dang, I was hoping they'd have this. Oh, well. yeah But that there are people that are like so mad and About it doesn't have this it doesn't have this these are all things that you made up in your head that you you hoped Would be in the DLC, but they never said it within and I'm like wow we're we're right back to a year ago When people were mad that starfield didn't have all the things that they imagined It would have
00:29:18
Speaker
Michael, they should fire um whoever was responsible for the thing that I made up for in my head that didn't come out in the expansion. They should fire that person. Yes. They should fire that person. That's right. Because my opinion is objective and not subjective. Always. But kudos to them. You know what? And now we enter a very exciting time.
00:29:44
Speaker
because we've known a little bit about what the DLC was going to be ever since the beginning, and now we have no idea what the next DLC is. That is very exciting. I know what it is. Starborn, remember? they trade starborne Yeah, It could be that. Could be. Speaking of the Starborn, ah I mean, Todd Howard, the original Starborn,
00:30:11
Speaker
had a BAFTA interview that I recently saw.

Bethesda's Game Design Philosophy

00:30:15
Speaker
Did that interview come out or was it an old one? I think it was a recent one. It was a new one, yeah. And he actually talked about, a little bit behind the scenes, and he had an interesting quote in there, which people took and just ran with. Yeah, for good and bad. They kind of took it out of context. Yeah, so the quip was,
00:30:37

Our games are irresponsibly large, right? They took that and they ran with it. The yeah full quote is, um actually, we cut very little from our games at Bethesda. That's why our games are so irresponsibly large. Now, me, after watching that full interview, I think he's he's just He's giving a shout out to the Bethesda team, all the creators, all the people that work on his team that are coming up with cool concepts, introducing things and trying to integrate them into the game to make it an awesome video game for all of us. Other people I think are taking the terminology irresponsibly large and
00:31:20
Speaker
turning it into- Like a mistake, right? Right, like like a mistake, like it's a bad thing, right? To me, that's a good thing. Yeah, absolutely. I see the the word irresponsibly is being, it's being said tongue in cheek. And I like how you said, you called it a shout out to his team. um Absolutely, I think he's saying this jokingly as a compliment to his team. It's irresponsible in that the game is oh it's getting so big do we want to do this to ourselves ah right as developers um I absolutely see it as as just as that it's it's a joking way to
00:32:06
Speaker
give kudos to his team for building such a huge world to play in. right Yeah, I thought about this quote a lot because ah recently I saw it posted in our Discord and I made the point that I feel like that's why certain things in Starfield or maybe other games, but um definitely Starfield. Some things feel slightly sort of like underdeveloped. But here's the thing. Do you feel that way in general? I mean, it's fine if you do. Not necessarily in a bad way. I look at it foundationally. I look like, okay, for instance, maybe I'm glass half full, but when the game first came out and you could eat stuff,
00:33:01
Speaker
and it just had like minor effects and barely gave you any health. But when I see so many food items, I see that and I go, oh, nice. They have built a foundation for survival update later on. When I see things like um like they have the the, you can build,
00:33:27
Speaker
outposts, or when I see that it tells you how much fuel you're gonna use traveling from one star system to the other, but they ah you don't have to get fuel for your ship, ever. But when I see that little marker that says, you need this much fuel, and when I hear people say, it's like I had a character say, well, it's pretty far out, so make sure your your ship is fueled up,
00:33:56
Speaker
I see that as O. they have pre-built in either an update for later or, hey modders, we actually count how much fuel this is gonna take. So if you want to take that information and create a mod for like hardcore survival mode, it's there for you. I'm actually really surprised. I mean, that mod probably exists. I haven't looked for it, truth be told, but
00:34:27
Speaker
I feel like that, because the information is displayed on screen, that was something that what came along early in the design process that was like, you need X units to get to this planet. It's marked on every planet you go to. And you can see the little bar, right? So yeah it's probably...
00:34:47
Speaker
just disabled for the fun factor, right? Flip of a switch and it's back in. Exactly. They said they said that they had it in the game, but the it made the game not as fun. And I think that that's like not as fun for most players. There's some people like me that would really get a lot out of, I can't get to that system unless I build an outpost and somewhere where I can harvest helium. Yeah, so I love that they could have cut it completely.

Community Mods and Contributions

00:35:23
Speaker
And they're like, you know what?
00:35:26
Speaker
We're not gonna require it, but just just leave it in there. Leave the information in there. I 100% see this as a good thing that um but what i what I put in there is there are opportunities, there are tools for me to role play. So before they updated the game, ah the food was there.
00:35:49
Speaker
People forget, I guess, this is a role-playing game. There's so many- That's what RPG stands for. Oh, okay. Yeah. There's so many players that are like, why is this even in the game?
00:36:03
Speaker
It's not just helldivers, you don't just like drop in and start blasting stuff. Yeah, which is like, there's nothing wrong with that. But but the thing is, like, there are different types of gamers. I am the type of gamer that will go, oh, wow, I've never been down this hallway in New Homestead. Oh, this is interesting. What's over here?
00:36:31
Speaker
There's no reason to go there except for the fact that I'm enjoying the world and the space. And so yeah, before they updated the game, you could eat food, you could do that. You didn't have to, but you could. Then they added a very simple ah food update so that every 30 minutes you had to eat something.
00:36:56
Speaker
Do I want a difference between a big cooked meal and like a single apple? Yes, I do want that eventually. I want a more robust system, but already them giving me that 30 minute you have to eat and drink every 30 minutes.
00:37:14
Speaker
it's It's already great. like it's Again, it's foundational. Here you go. This is what we've got for now. Probably there's more coming. I feel the same way. ah and For me, it's more about the expanse of the base game, the foundation of the planet system and all the places you can go and adding in layers on top of that, more POIs,
00:37:42
Speaker
other interesting things like we talked about the shipwrecks mods, stuff like that where it's just embellishing the world. This game has to be like the most mod friendly game I've ever seen. um Especially considering that it's based on creation engine which thousands of modders have been working with for decades now. So yeah that's the hard thing is If you come out with a new um software development SDK or whatever you want to call it to end users, and then they're starting from day one after the game's released, it's going to the ramp up time to create awesome mods is so much longer. We already have a group of people out there making amazing mods you know and have been for years. so
00:38:33
Speaker
Yeah, and and like mods on Starfield haven't even like the creation kits only been out for I want to say like six months or so. um It's already mind-blowing what people have put into it. Some of the overhauls that some modders are creating and like we've just barely scratched the surface of it. um I do want to get the A-Team van. The A-Team? Yep.
00:39:01
Speaker
and Did they have that? Did you see that one? I did. Wow. Wow. That that coming over of the mountain in ah low gravity. Yeah, I can see it. I pity the fool. I pity the fool. And what's... Okay, so that's what we need. We need Mr. Teeskin. Just the whole... ah You know, they they have the mod.
00:39:22
Speaker
It's like the gang's all here or something like that where you can have all your followers with you at once. Oh, right. So that'd be amazing to then get a mod that changes all the members of Constellation to different members of the A-Team. And then the final step is allowing all of them to be in the back of that van. I love it when a plan comes together.
00:39:43
Speaker
Van pulls up, everyone jumps out and starts gunning people down. The Vans just play the A-Team theme too, like whenever you stop and open the door. Yeah, shout out to Starfield, because all of that is possible. ah You could even do a Scooby-Doo mod and and turn Vasco into like Scoob. Oh yeah, yeah.
00:40:04
Speaker
then yeah Michael, you did a video on the the Xbox wrap where you could get the Starfield wrap and kind of jazz up your your Xbox. Do you still have the wrap on there? I do, yeah. ah It's still rocking it. i've i've even I've just gotten used to seeing it. It's like having a little, a white Starfield themed Series X. And you also did a video on the on the Starfield controller.
00:40:33
Speaker
Yep, the controller, the headset and even the the special edition, the constellation edition of the game. So yeah, we we we did do reviews on those. Well, that is awesome. You know, we actually had Alice from Seagate reached out to us and Seagate is going to send us two Starfield branded external hard drives so you can match your current ah Xbox that you have, which is pretty cool, as well as, ah you know, I've always had a problem with

space. You're like, right when you want to like download a new game, you're like, oh oh man, I gotta go delete some game. Minecraft takes up like 500 gigabytes. So it's it's nice. And you're like, oh no, Minecraft is one of the smallest. You must have some big Minecraft worlds.
00:41:21
Speaker
Minecraft is one of the smallest things. No, I swear. I don't know what it was. It was like a Minecraft version on my Xbox that was just below it. I don't know why or how that happened. But we're always in need of extra space. So we actually are excited to announce that we're going to make a video about these Starfield branded Seagate external hard drives. So look for that to happen pretty soon here.
00:41:49
Speaker
Yeah, really nice of them to to offer to send those and see how it ties the room together with all my other Starfield stuff. Yeah, I think it'll be nice to have ah an external drive that would actually literally match the wrap that you have. And they're actually available for PC too. So I can actually set it next to my PC right here and have a cool Starfield branded ah external hard drive. so they're ah Two terabyte external hard drives. They also have a custom RGB LED. I'm excited to have that hooked up. Yep. Speaking of exciting, we've got some exciting comments off of our Patreon. We actually forgot to read some of those comments and
00:42:35
Speaker
Michael, you keep those locked up and where I can't access them. Yeah, I don't let Dwayne look at them. That's right. that's why That's why you just get nice nice comments and not like, you know, pithy little ah smart elements comments from me. Yeah, ever since the the incident, Dwayne's not allowed anymore. The great incident of 2023.
00:42:59
Speaker
Yeah. On the, you know, we we did that video, um my conspiracy video about Bobby Katz being a secret Varoon spy. Snakes and serpents. Yeah. Snakes and serpents. I asked you, I was like, how did you get him to say that? And I forgot that he says that. I was like, dang. Snakes and serpents will eat you all. Yeah.
00:43:22
Speaker
I will say like thank you Bethesda for making him say that crazy stuff because Really really tied up the video up. Well, he's paraphrasing what the bad guys are saying to him. if our Yeah conversation He was just saying our station got attacked and this is what I heard them saying. I was like, oh, yeah We're using this for sure um But yeah, I want to shout out ah Mel archival's said well done sir only touch this once in many playthroughs and Yeah, because he Bobby sort of shows up at the beginning and then you only ever see him again If you happen to catch him walking around town, which that's funny Atlantis literally a day before you pitch the idea I ran into Bobby Katz and had the full conversation with his his step parents or with his real parents
00:44:15
Speaker
And it was just, I don't know, it's funny how life works out like that. And then the next day you were like, Hey, I want to make this video. I was like, I just ran into him. That's yeah, that's so funny. Bing, boom, bang, boom said, I effing hate that kid. So he catches a lot of ire because he's you the very kind of first conversation you have in the video game. It's your first dialogue for any new starfield player.
00:44:44
Speaker
they run up and that's, it's Bobby freaking cats. It's Bobby cats. That's why I kind of believe the conspiracy because you know, it's like when a movie has a huge reveal of who the villain is at the end. And they, they, they always want to introduce you to that twist person very early on. yeah That's why i I still felt like there's something to it. But moving on to last week's podcast episode. Now, first off, like we we talked about the mission Entangled.
00:45:22
Speaker
people are sort of divided or or people like me really liked it the first time and found it to be a chore any time after that. right So Bing Boom Bang Boom actually brought up a good point. They said Entangled reminds me of a mission from Titanfall 2 and for that reason I will blindly love it forever. ah Now this is true, I've played Titanfall 2 and there is an amazing mission in that game where you are constantly transported between past and present in this one one level. Very, very cool, and I could not agree more. You know, we're gonna have to shorten his name to B-cubed. Bing-bang. B-cubed. Yeah. I like that. It's just B-cubed. B-cubed. Kidala Hara says, okay, Dwayne,
00:46:15
Speaker
I have to say, it isn't so much as annoying as it breaks the mold of so many of the missions. I think this is a good point. Kittle Lahara goes on to say, it actually makes you stop and pay more attention to the layout and such. As you say, once you get the idea of the design, you can figure it out. Yeah, absolutely. That's the trick to it. And the the issue is, one is is they're not exact duplicates of each other, right?
00:46:44
Speaker
Right, yeah. I mean, they are and they aren't. Like, they're the same building, but one building, the lighting's all different, there's debris everywhere, there's different enemies. Doors are blocked. Doors are blocked. So, I know, but. But yeah, and then Griffin said, entangled is a key factor in deciding to skip the main story playthrough in New Game Plus. That's exactly how I feel. They're like, I'm not playing entangled again, I'm just gonna skip that entire. I'm doing that. That's funny.
00:47:12
Speaker
But i real real quick, I don't want to belabor it, but what Kittle Hara says ah reminds me of, yeah, games that are, that they always have that one level that is different from the rest of the game to sort of switch it up. It's a good thing, but then also, it's like, hey, if I've leveled up my you know grenade launcher, and I want to get through with a grenade launcher, and all of a sudden there's a level that's like,
00:47:43
Speaker
You have no grenade launcher for this. um yeah They're moving the goalposts a little bit. the The other thing is, I wonder, there was a couple doors that I saw that you could lockpick if you were the highest lockpicking, and I wasn't. I wonder if there was a little shortcut.
00:48:02
Speaker
in that level, does anyone know where you can go through a doorway and you can maybe bypass 20% of the rigmarole of wandering around and going through the bubbles? Now, I actually do have lockpicking all the way maxed. I can't say definitively. Yeah, so we would love your comment. I would say if anything, maybe you bypass like a 5% hallway or something. Or it's probably just loot.
00:48:31
Speaker
So if you could just belude, yeah. But um that's a great question. If you have played Entangled with high lockpicking and you remember it sort of giving you ah a shortcut, let us know. Michael, looking at the comments on your This Starfield character is a secret Varun spy, one that I thought was ah pretty funny was, not the kind of investigative journalism we need, but the kind we deserve.

from Willis451. Thanks for that comment. Yeah. White Wolf Chronicles said, amazing. Did you know that Helena Chambers ends up working at the terror brew in New Atlantis? That seems like a downgrade. had. downgrade What's up with that? Isn't she a doctor?
00:49:13
Speaker
Well, she was she was more of the station manager, and she she screwed up so many things that allowed people to get killed in that attack. Okay, so that makes sense. She absolutely deserves ah the the yeah the lack of responsibility. It's pretty funny, and yeah, you can go visit her after. I have to say, there was so much that I had recorded um regarding that station that I actually ended up cutting out just so that we could be really focused on Bobbycats, but... Mm-hmm. Judger Rambo says, imposter Bobby, the real Bobby is dead with the others. See, now this is a good theory too. I loved this comment because, yeah, maybe he's not even the real Bobby. It's a tangled web. It is. Well, thanks so much for leaving comments on the videos and

Not this one, obviously. like One time. Yeah, no, not this one. But um yeah, there was one podcast. um I know which one it is. It was a movie-themed podcast, right? Yeah, it's a movie-themed podcast. Yeah, yeah. But no, yes, I have given a five-star review because if you love something,
