Speaker: I'm gonna go out, I'm gonna let myself get absolutely soaking wet.
Speaker: Welcome to the...
Speaker: What's the deal? Let me try that again. It's the Down With DP podcast with Robert Dunn and Ron Prendamano in three, two,
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: Oh, hello. Oh, hi, everyone. Yeah, what's up? It's your boy. It's your boy. It's your boy, Robert. It's your It's Robert Dunn, and I'm Ron Prendamano, and we have the Down with DP podcast. Hello, hello. Yeah, that's right.
Speaker: That's right, Ron. i mean i feel like i have to insert the salutations before you start talking because you're just going to fucking go off, and I'm not to be able to do anything. Like, Ron, we have to introduce ourselves. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Slowly, slowly working on that.
Speaker: And you keep ruining it. But it's okay. Motherfucker. would You motherfucker. Oh, God. How you doing, Robert? You know i know, I'm doing a okay. Well, I'm tired. I've been working a lot, a lot. Me too.
Speaker: It's ah not been fun going from kind of not working at all to all of a sudden. Yeah, it sucks. ah Yeah, it does suck. But hey, filming tomorrow. I mean, it's not it's not like you ah you potentially had a silent heart attack or anything, right?
Speaker: No, why would I go off and do that? Oh, wait, might have Robert. Oh, whoa, calm down, buddy. Hey, hey. Yeah, no, seriously, I might have had a silent heart attack. EKG came back weird, so we're going to do more testing and make sure I'm okay.
Speaker: Yeah, so this is Down With db DP Podcast, a comedy this might be my last Down With DP Podcast. I know, I know. And then it's just going to be me and AI, Robert. yeah you know You know, it's kind of funny. I'm sure people who listen to this, it's like, oh, Ron's joking. It's like, no, no, Ron's not joking. Ron actually might have. yeah yeah um and and that's real people that's real all of a sudden he had these symptoms when he started the podcast so this is how we'll know who listens to the fucking podcast because if i start getting messages like ron are you okay get like yeah there we go yeah so if you want to send donations i'm gonna set up a link don't need donations and then i'm i don't worry i'll send it to ron but i'm gonna send it it's gonna be going to me and then i'll give it to ron guys don't worry yeah thanks yeah and i don't need donations i'm just gonna get a procedure i'll be Yeah, I don't need donations. I just need a fucking... I mean, I have health insurance. It's, you know, still going cost me thousands of dollars, but whatever. Yeah, you're like the damn tin man, man.
Speaker: You know, it problem is I feel fucking great. Like i I weigh the lowest I have in years. I am not drinking as much. Obviously, I drink a beer on the show. But, um you know, my I feel great. And they're like, hey, you might have had a heart attack. I'm like, what the fuck do you mean? I might have had a heart attack. That's how it always happens. What do they say? they're like, oh, he's walking around. He said he felt great out of nowhere.
Speaker: Yeah, that's how it happens. and It's like, and then he just died. He just died. Oh God. Now we're getting dark, getting dark. Don't die. Ron was just standing. He was doing the podcast. He was laughing. He was telling a cold joke and his cold joke was so bad. He just died. Like it was awful. He just popped down dead. I could see that happening actually. You know, anytime someone is murdered and, and, and, uh, and, uh,
Speaker: Anytime someone better on the podcast than on stage like Tiny Tim or something. um I could be so lucky if I was Tiny Tim to die when I loved and love being. okay At least he died doing what he loved.
Speaker: Singing falsetto with a ukulele. That's what what he loved doing. I know. Tiptoeing through the tulips. Tiptoeing through the tulips.
Speaker: Anyway. happy. Happy and lucky me. So what what what was I, I was about to say something really important. Oh, i was going to say, you know, it's like people in the murder documentaries. Anytime the the victim, it's always the person that's like, she was so nice. She brightened up a room.
Speaker: Her smile. It's always that. I mean, I guess it's kind of a good thing. Like when someone does die, like everyone talks about how good they were. And I'm like, There's a side of me that's like, maybe it's the German in me. i don't know. But I just, the schadenfreude. Like, I just want to hear, I just want to hear somebody go, no, you know what? Ron was a piece of shit.
Speaker: Ron was fucking asshole. There, there have been times sometimes. ever seen him get drunk where he's just a piece of shit and he starts cursing everybody out? Right. There have been like documentaries I've seen where I swear they are trying their hardest to sell them as like a fun person, but I'm like, nah, they were a bitch, weren't they?
Speaker: Gene Wilder was an asshole. No, Gene Wilder was not an asshole. No, I was going to say, really? That would break my heart. but um like like Like the John Candy documentary, I don't i don't think that was... um I think that was extremely genuine.
Speaker: Oh, absolutely. how How loved he was from everybody. I think that was extremely genuine. And are you excited for this Norm documentary? I am. i i am excited for the Norm documentary. I mean, I love Norm Macdonald.
Speaker: Yeah. like my mind My joke is a little Norm-esque today. so Oh, yeah. Usually mine's minds mine always are. And I don't mean it to be that way. It's not like I look to try to write a Norm joke, but it's just in that Weekend Update style, you know, and that Norm is great I'll be honest. If I if if i could be like any comedian... like Yeah, that's a good question, actually. If I could be like any comedian, I would love to be more of a Don Rickles.
Speaker: personal no way really don rickles just because not only was his insult comedy amazing it was like i've been watching a lot of don rickles clips and i've always liked his work but he was just so fucking good oh yeah like could he could insult everybody and everybody would laugh it didn't matter what race ethnicity it didn't fucking matter he just did it and but the thing was at the end of the day he was actually a genuinely loving human being I think that's yeah, honestly, I've been here. i actually heard this recently that I forgot what comic was talking about, it about how people that are really good at roasting behind the scenes are super genuine and nice.
Speaker: And I think that there's something to that. I think if you're a piece of shit and you're roasting, I feel like you're roasting is not going to be as good. Like there's there's a way to like, i was in a, one of my improv classes in theater school. I had to, one of the final things we had to do and it wasn't like a test or anything. it was just go up there and try to be funny.
Speaker: So I went up there and had to just basically improvise for improv class. I had to ah just blankly improvise and i was the second longest up there.
Speaker: So I did 12 minutes of just raw improvising. Yeah. And the first thing I said to was my my Jewish improv teacher, Michael Pearlstein, who was fucking man. And I said to him, I'm like, you and Jason Chayette, was my other film teacher, like, you guys are doing a showcase together. And they're both Jewish. And I looked at him went, Mazel Tov. And he started laughing his ass off. So it's like, did I? And then another guy went up there and started insulting everybody, like, great like, flat out insulting.
Speaker: And my teacher goes, there's a difference. The way Ron did it was he was insulting, but he was not. He wasn't like cruel about it. You're being fucking cruel. So there is a way to insult people and still be a decent human being.
Speaker: Like if i go up there if you go up there and just start being like, you know, racist, you're going it's not going to do well. Yeah. I've heard some horror stories. I'm sure you have too. Like I have a buddy who's a standup out here in LA and he would just see people on open mics, just kind of that crazy. Like people that yeah don't, don't know how to form a joke. And they just, like, he said, one guy just went up and just screamed the N word. And I'm like, that's the joke.
Speaker: it's you like when when you know yeah like like Think of it as like a bar of... like what's What is it called? A meter? like A meter of funny and to shock. and I feel like some guys go all in with the shock. If you are a white guy and you are going to use that word, you better be able to make it work. like i yeah like the ah like What was it? Eminem used that word. He was having a ah a rap battle with somebody.
Speaker: and um his response to the guy was this word turned, turned my facial tissue into a racial issue. Okay. Oh, wow. I mean, like the guy, the rap the other, forget who the other rapper was, but he was like, I couldn't be mad at him because it was fly. And like, if anyone else would have said that, I probably would have killed him, but he made it work.
Speaker: So right you have to be able to make it work. And as a white guy, my rap, my recommendation is don't do that. Don't even try to make it work. Yeah. i Do not even try to make that. Don't use it. Don't use it in your fucking sense. Just don't.
Speaker: Yeah. It's stupid. it's just it It almost seems like in your, I feel like someone who doesn't want to really give too much thought to their comedy. I feel like they think that's like an easy win. Oh, if I'm just shocking, it's going to eat so to laughing. And it's like, no, it just, it can, it can shock jokes can make you laugh. Some of my, some of my jokes can be shock you. Yeah. well I love shock humor.
Speaker: It's great, but it doesn't always work. Like one of my jokes that I tell about my wife used to work many years ago. Now with everybody being, you know, politically correct, it doesn't work as well, even though my wife's like, you can say the joke. So people are like afraid to laugh. And I'm like, she said, it's okay. I can use this.
Speaker: She said, it's fine. I got permission. Um, So yeah, it's kind of like, you know, but you also have to evolve with the times, I think, as well. Oh, yeah. Sometimes you do have to change your material. You can't say shit like you used to. um That just happens. Yeah.
Speaker: Nothing wrong with it. It's just people are afraid you're going to be offensive. And it's like, well, maybe I want to be a little bit. Right, right. You know, maybe I want to be a little offensive. Maybe I want you to look at both sides of the coin.
Speaker: You Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Considering the fact that I'm dying, yeah, so I just don't care boy. Yeah, just don't fucking care anymore. Here we go. don't care. take off my shirt! You should go up there and just start dropping N-bombs, Ron. No, I have more class than that, Robert. But you're dying. You have nowhere I'm trying to die! Yeah, but that's not what I'm dying.
Speaker: How did Ron die? Well, he was so upset, he just started saying the N-word on stage like it was going out of stock. He died doing what he loved. Yeah, yeah exactly. um No.
Speaker: ah that That would be like, you know, that Queen Latifah movie where she like maxes out all her credit cards because she's dying. But instead of this, this is a white rapper, white rapper, white comic who wants to drop in bummed. Did you ever hear about that per that woman that she she she diagnosed with terminal cancer?
Speaker: So she divorced her husband and then slept with a shit ton of men before she died. ah Sounds right. Yeah. i I would not do that. I would not divorce my wife and sleep with a shit ton of men or women.
Speaker: I would not do that. um I would stay with my wife. I wouldn't do that. I just think that's weird. Yeah, wouldn't change up. Because that would mean I have some kind of secret interest of going wild. That's my point. Yeah, it's like, okay, so obviously you've been wanting some dick for a while and your husband isn't doing it for you.
Speaker: Right. I'm going to live my life. Well, you're a selfish cunt. I'm sorry. i again Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if I could do that. If i would I was actually dying, I think I would ah probably travel more. i might I may quit my job because fuck it.
Speaker: Yeah. I would do the whole credit card thing. um I don't know if that would mean that like, like you would your wife inherit all that debt then? uh probably i would try to pay it off before i die i mean i don't have a lot of debt luckily i i just have one credit card that's like kind of high that but that's yeah like i have no student loans i paid those off i have nothing okay so really she would inherit too much now she were to die i'd get all the fucking that's funny now that's funny uh i didn't go to school what the fuck yeah why am i paying this shit
Speaker: But ah speaking of funny, did you hear about, um you heard about the whole news thing where all the news outlets were like banned from the White House? Yeah, that's fucking wild. It's wild. That is weird. But what I find kind of i find kind of comforting in the whole thing is that everybody's kind of banned together like, no, you don't fucking do this. Even Fox News is like, what the who are you doing?
Speaker: Yeah, so who's left? It's going to be like Newsmax. Newsmax, yeah, the ones that promote him as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Yeah, right. um i've always pretty much all i Pretty much all those like probably new ones you've never heard of that are just like stroking his dick. that's problem those are Yeah, that's what that's what he wants. He wants he wants a rim job. That's exactly what he wants. yes And it's like you're the president, dude. like The media's job is to...
Speaker: contradict you the media's job is to look at your bad points and be like what the fuck are you doing um that's the whole point of like being president every president has handled this right from george washington till now every president has handled this and that's how it's supposed to be but you have this mindset of this narcissism dictatorship that like you don't want this done but that's why george washington came out with the washington post because he didn't want anyone writing anything else about him
Speaker: that was good that was good come on come on all right all right but speaking of uh trump uh he came i i heard this like flopped right away and all the jokes you've ever made jesus christ that's not too bad it's not too bad right um i just swallowed an ice cube Yeah, better than dropping all the N-bombs on stage. That's lot Yeah, that's all right. I'm going to die of a heart attack. It's fine. Anyway. Hey, keeping the comedy rolling. Hello! So, yeah, Trump, as far as I know, was trying to launch a Trump TV. It could have just been all talk, right? No, he didn't. Well, we're supposed to get $5,000 or something like that, $500 something.
Speaker: Yeah, I thought, yeah, I don't, you know what, whatever, sure. Where's my fucking money at, Trump? Where's my money at, Trump? Where at? Yeah, we're supposed to get a doge check, we're supposed to get, remember veterans supposed to get a check for $1776, $1000? Yeah, I have to ask ah my my veteran buddies if they got, like, you get your money, bro? Oh yeah, they did they definitely didn't, they definitely didn't. they just I am in rare form today, I apologize Hey, it's okay. It's okay.
Speaker: But yeah, I don't know. what What do you think of the Trump TV thing? I heard it's just kind of like a media outlet of 24-7, I guess, stroking Trump's dick. I don't know. I mean, that sounds very North Korean.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, it does. It does, right? Trump TV. I mean, I feel i feel i think if he was still doing The Apprentice, it might have worked like before he was a politician. But now it's like, dude, you're just... why i don't want to But you're going get these fucking assholes that are going to watch it.
Speaker: yeah You're going to get these pieces of shit that like, oh, it's the greatest thing I've ever seen. I love Trump TV. I watch it in the morning, noon, and night. Except during church. I don't watch during church. Right. But here's the thing. Is it a channel? Is it going to be a streaming service? Because I feel like these old people would be like, I don't know. My son got me the Netflix on the TV. I don't know how to do. No one's going to help their elderly parents. You just voiced every millennial's parent right now. Thank you much. Yeah. No millennial is going to help their parents download Trump TV. That's not going to happen. No, I got it.
Speaker: ah That's the loophole. I mean, I don't know. It's going to be Trump TV. If it's just stroking his ego the whole fucking time, I'm not going Will I tune in to check it out? Yeah, absolutely. I'm just pure curiosity. But I'm not going to.
Speaker: No. Stroke his ego. like Everything that comes out of his mouth is bullshit to begin with. Yeah. And mind you, I'm not against, like, just for the record for the viewers, I'm not against Republicans or conservatives. I'm not. I'm against this man.
Speaker: I do not like this person. Like, he's not a Republican or a conservative. he's a He's a Trump. He's himself. Yeah, he's MAGA. MAGA is definitely its own thing. You know how we make America great again? Stop the fucking war and get the gas prices back down. ho That's how we make America great again. Oh my God. See, America great again for him was making it worse and then fixing it. So he's making it great again. was just in Marina Del Rey. Like, your gas prices were like six fucking dollars. Yeah, they are. It's insane. Like, $6.15, I think I saw. Like, that's fucking wild. Gasoline's a privilege now. God. God.
Speaker: But hey, no wonder you didn't come visit me. I'm like, how long is it? Oh, it's an hour drive. Oh, that's like $8,000 for Robert. Like, yeah, I'll be honest. I mean, yeah, one, I'm ah obviously working a lot, but two, uh, no, yeah, that yeah it's a lot. is a slap I mean, that one time was fun, but yeah, it's a fucking slap. And yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. you Um, But um here's a question I have getting back to comedy. I don't want to say this comic out loud because I ah but maybe you've heard of him. Maybe I'll say it separately. Maybe it maybe I'll put in chat. But um there is a comic who.
Speaker: And I've seen other comics where they they pretty much have made a career off of hecklers.
Speaker: So you're talking comics that specifically do crowd work. Okay. Yeah. I don't know if you do crowd work. Kind of, but like this particular comic and I've seen some other comics where a hundred percent of their content is hecklers and they post a lot so it brings up a lot of speculation of like are there plants is this person actually getting heckled do they like try to get hecklers because i've seen some ways where this comic will like kind of poke at people and and it could be to get content i get it but i don't know wanted did to get your thoughts on that if you've known if you're if you're known for heckling
Speaker: or or deal excuse me if you're known for dealing with hecklers then yes you might have plans in yeah the audience absolutely you might not if if you are known for heckling people are going to come there to heckle you and they want and they want you to attack them because people are people like that people want that little bit of attention um I do have an issue with comics who do nothing but crowd work I do have an issue with that um I think a good example of good crowd work is Jimmy Carr Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. So, you know, he posts a lot of the stuff he posts online are is his crowd work, but he does a portion of his set dedicated to specifically crowd work. Right. So it he like makes a section. Yeah. He has people send him questions and stuff like that. Yeah. So there's a point to that. um But he has a whole routine. It's not like he doesn't like he he has a whole thing of jokes. It's not just him, you know, doing crowd work, even though that's what he posts a lot online.
Speaker: But if you just do crowd work, it's like, okay, are you doing comedy? Yes. But going back to Don Rickles, even Don Rickles had a routine. Yeah. Even though he insulted people, he had a routine. He had a series of jokes that he would tell.
Speaker: So if you're just going up there doing crowd work, are you depending on people to make fun of you so you can attack them? That's a skill. Yes. yeah And it can be very funny. But are you a comedian? Yeah. And I will say there's probably a difference between like crowd work where you're kind of like, hey, where are you guys from? Kind of thing. And then like going back to this comic, it's always someone yelling stuff out to him. It's always and they seem actually upset.
Speaker: And again, it could be a plant, but it's never like, oh, hey, like, give me a good one, buddy. Like, you know, I want to get roasted. It never seems like that. It seems like actually angry people in his audience. And I'm like, come on, man. Really? This many pissed off people? And this is for years.
Speaker: I've known this comic for years. And when I say no this comic, I mean online. Like, I've seen his stuff. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's possible, Robert. It is. It's possible that people are that angry with him. But, like, why would you go? I...
Speaker: You go to a comedy show to be angry. I think you have to look at yourself in the mirror. Yeah. You know what? I'm fucking scared, like from the club, too, because when you go into the club, like if you go into the improv, you know, I went to the cellar in New York or a comedy store in l L.A. Like they're pretty on you about like, hey, don't pull off any shit.
Speaker: And I'm like, yes, sir. oh Yes, ma'am. Like, I don't want to do anything. I want to be a good little boy in the comedy club. If you submit a video to them and they see your routine, they know what that's what they have to expect.
Speaker: don't pull out any shit like like saying the N-word on stage. Don't do anything stupid. Like, okay, this is your routine. This is funny. We like this. Do this. Yeah, you don't want to piss off the clubs. Yeah, well, I mean, like, as an audience member, I don't want to piss off the clubs. Like, because they warn you not to do that. do They warn you not to yell out and use your phone and stuff. And I'm like, yeah okay. Yeah, alcohol's a hell of a drug, though. Yeah, that's true. that's And, you know, people usually get lit before going to the comedy club. So by the time they get to the comedy club, they're already drunk. Now they're drinking cocktails. And it's like,
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Because a lot of times it's like two drink minimum. It's 99% of the time a two drink minimum. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So the club I perform at QED, they do not have a two drink minimum, but they do encourage you to buy shit.
Speaker: Oh, of course. I remember I went to John Lovett's. also charge admission, so. right Oh, they do. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, that's not bad. um I went to John Lovett's Comedy Club when he had it in City Walk. And oh wow ah I was really hoping to see him because I heard he was there on like certain days. But I went there to see a friend who was performing and I got myself bowl of spaghetti and meatballs.
Speaker: At a comedy club? At comedy club, yeah. It was like two drink minimum or order something off the menu. And I'm like, I'm hungry. And this spaghetti meatballs look good. So was literally just laughing at the comics, like slurping up spaghetti. I'm like, come on. This is great.
Speaker: Your Italian heritage is showing, Robert. I know. I know. That's a funny joke. How you doing? I got marinara sauce on my collar. You stew not. Fuck. I got gravy all over the fucking place. You stew not. Yes, my family call it gravy. Fuck you.
Speaker: Yeah. Not you. Just anyone who's listening. It's like gravy. Mm-hmm. Uh, yeah, but unfortunately that club did shut down a long time ago. because they sold spaghetti and meatballs. I know. Yeah. Yeah. Instead of comedy. Oh, no were they good spaghetti and meatballs? Do you remember? if they I think so. I think I remember having a good time, you know, and, uh, guys making me laugh. I got spaghetti meatballs. That's a good fucking day. Now i need some gabagool to wash it down down. I i just talk out of the side of my mouth. Cause I'm from Staten Island. Hey, I'm from Jersey. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, that's what I did. That's what I did. um So here's another thing too. When it comes to ah like comedy specials, I was hearing a comic talk about this. Again, I always forget the name of the comic. Also, I don't want to just give, you know, I don't know. Also, no offense to Staten Island. Staten Island, and love y'all.
Speaker: yeah um yeah but But comedy specials used to be they They were trying to make this point that comedy specials specials Used to be like a huge thing yeah On HBO And now you see a lot of you know Who am I to talk but like Well this person says this not me So ah like more amateur comics Maybe comics that aren't headliners yet Just making their own special So that's a thing now yeah a lot A lot of my friends have done specials because Basically they do an hour set Yeah yeah you do You do have to be somewhat of I think you should be somewhat of a name.
Speaker: like you should at least be known throughout the the circuit in where you're performing to do a special. um I have not done a special. I've done a roast. I've been roasted. Before I went to flight attendant school, I um had a roast and I had everybody come and roast me, which is a lot of fun.
Speaker: yeah um But I've never ah done a special. Do I want to do a special? yeah someday. i mean, do I think I'm well-known throughout the comics in New York? I think there's a good group of people that know who I am. Yes. um Everyone? No, of course not. it's It's so watered down in New York, it's impossible almost, unless you're a big name. Would I do a special? Maybe one day. But yeah, most... Are they special, though?
Speaker: To the comedian? Yes, because an hour set is tough. Yes. Okay, an hour set is hard. that is a hard thing to do to have and not not crowd work i mean an actual set oh yeah yeah an hour of material that's tough as shit right and i don't know how many times you're practicing in your living room making sure i i mean i mean every time you do a set you're doing a piece of your you're doing a piece of your special to see what works and what doesn't it's a lot of fucking work yeah an hour is a long time um But yeah, like back in the day, like when George Carlin did a special, it was special.
Speaker: Right. Holy shit. George Carlin's doing an HBO special. I think of like, like Raw. Robin Williams is doing an HBO. Live at the Eddie Murphy's Raw. Eddie Murphy's Raw and Delirious. Yeah, those still stand the test of time because those were fucking great.
Speaker: Yeah. And they were special. I mean, nobody could pull off those leather suits. I know he had that. He had that like Michael Jackson, like leather. His dick and balls were doing like a division sign. You can see that. I love it. um However, one of my favorite jokes was, um everybody's all the men stand up.
Speaker: What about your dicks? Oh, the white people sat down. some are Some of them are still standing up. Must be Italian. I'm like, yeah, when we meant something in the 80s. Yes. That's so funny. ah Yeah, I would say it's like almost like an actor trying to make their own movie.
Speaker: It's like it's very special to them. Maybe a lot of people see it. Maybe maybe it will go viral. You never know. yeah And I mean, you have to try, right? yeah Unfortunately, yeah, you have to try now. It's that you don't.
Speaker: I mean, one big thing that's changed, especially with social media, is that we kind of have to create our own outlets. yeah No one's going to get, like, you know back in the day, you know, you like, if you were a musician, you can go to a DJ and get your song played. You go to a club, hopefully get discovered. You're an actor, hopefully just get discovered on a fucking elevator, whatever. Now you kind of have to make your own outlet. You have to do, you have to really put yourself out there more than before. So if doing a special gets you an hour of material and a shit ton of videos from it to put yourself out there, then yeah, do it. Yeah. And, and going back to the crowd work thing, there is something about following a trend that maybe you'd like it or don't. So maybe having crowd work clips would help you, you know, elevate your career, yeah whether you're a fan of it or not, maybe you kind of have to go with the flow, but, um, yeah, I remember, is it special?
Speaker: Not really. Yeah. I remember one time, um, I, uh, I actually got hired to shoot a comedian special who was not, I mean, as far as I knew, he he didn't have much of a following, but I think he was pretty proud of like an hour or 40 minutes. Oh, you should. Absolutely. You should be proud to do that. If you're doing an hour, if you're doing 30 minutes, you should be fucked.
Speaker: Yeah. And he invited here. Here's where I think, cause it did not go well. Here's where I think it didn't go well. He he bombed hard and he, bomb he bombed really hard and it showed he, he didn't like keep his composure.
Speaker: You can tell he was like, this fucking sucks. And, um and I, I think even after we, we finished production with it, we, I edited it all. I did everything I could to make it great. And he did not post it. He was too embarrassed.
Speaker: And, um, I remember he invited, it was like, you know, he invited a, he, I don't know if he rented like this place, but he basically invited all his friends, you know, people that have probably seen him do standup before.
Speaker: And would you do that for your special? It was like a hundred percent people he knew. so everyone's probably heard these jokes. Yeah. And you, I don't know. you i just felt like I would kind of want strangers. i don't know. so bad Getting strangers is hard, especially when nobody knows who you are. yeah And yeah, you when you your friends go, they usually have seen your sets and stuff like that. They usually know what the jokes are.
Speaker: I am very lucky. And I think but a lot of my close comedian friends are, we are very lucky to have a lot of supportive friends and they do come, they do laugh at our jokes and stuff over and over. Even though they've heard them, um especially like my wife, she's seen my set a thousand times and she still laughs.
Speaker: she's I don't think she's putting it on. um My buddy Carlos, his wife, Julie, she goes to a lot of his shows. okay They're also newlyweds. I was about to say, is that the one who got married? Yeah, yeah he just got married. Yeah, Mazel Tov girl. um So yeah, she she supports the shit out of him and she still laughs at my jokes and his jokes and she's seen them a thousand times.
Speaker: So, yeah, you want to invite people that you know are going to be supportive. ah Now, I've had a friend. i'm not going to say his name, even though I don't think he would mind if I did, but I'm not going say his name.
Speaker: He had a special one time. I was one of the opening comics for him. He bombed for a fucking hour. One hour of no laughs. And I felt bad because half the audience was my family.
Speaker: oh Half the audience were the Prendamanos. felt bad. Right. And then my drunk aunt started heckling him a little bit. Oh, no. But it was fun. It was all in gall good fun. It wasn't, like, horrible. She wasn't, like, saying you suck. She was just yeah talking at him.
Speaker: But, yeah, it's set's that's rough, man, to do, like, it's And this was like before social media was really big. This was it was like 2012, I want to say, 2013.
Speaker: It's rough, man. Yeah, and and what are you going to do at that point? you know like i I remember he- He powered through them, man. He really did. He ah he kept his jokes. And he even though he wasn't getting laughs, he just kept moving with his material. He did an hour set of like no laughs.
Speaker: Right. One of the worst things that can happen is you yeah you you have a bad set and you bomb. Okay. And somebody comes up to you and goes, Oh man, that was really funny. Then why didn't you fucking laugh?
Speaker: Yeah. Why didn't you laugh? Right. like Like that's the worst thing you could say to a comedian after they bomb. Oh, that was really funny. Why didn't you laugh? Did you, um, did you hear what like Norm Macdonald would do when he would bomb?
Speaker: No. So funny. He had, I think it was spade talking about this or, and or maybe it was a Nick. I don't remember, but, um, norm, he would go on stage and if he killed, he would just go back in the green room and they'd like play cards or something like, uh, you know, the show's over. But if he bombed, he would wait by the door and shake everyone's hand as they were leaving.
Speaker: ah Thanks for coming. thanks i remembering I remember one time, i wasn't ah I didn't bomb, but I had a rough set. had a rough set. and Oh, a rough one, I tell you. as a rough yeah was a rough one. one.
Speaker: My wife, she left me after that. And like the guy came up to my friend, and he's like, oh man, you were really great. That was fantastic. And then he looks at me and goes, okay.
Speaker: Wow. And I'm like, wow. wow and what do you do What do you do for a living? Oh, I'm a day trader. Oh, that explains it. Oh, that's so funny. I ran into someone. That's so funny. You said that I ran into someone. Really nice guy, too, though. I don't want to shit on him, but it's too too late. I'm doing it. Shit. on him Yeah, we I was at I haven't seen him in a long time. He was like an ex-co-worker. it's not like a friend or anything. i was and I was just like, don't care about him, too. Yeah, I don't care about him. And I was like, oh what are you been up to? And he's like, oh, yeah, man. we You know, we've just been day trading now.
Speaker: And I'm like, in my head, I'm like, could have just said unemployed. It's fine. Anytime I hear someone hey diso it says day trading, I'm like, yeah, okay. So you're not making any money. Gotcha. youre Yeah. he I mean, he but he was just like a douche. This guy. Yeah. He was just a douche.
Speaker: Like, okay. You didn't think I was funny. You don't have to You're not. Fuck you. Funny. How am I fucking funny to you? Funny like a clown? Funny. I amuse Who's you? um Oh, did you ever see that caption? It was like a meme of a goose.
Speaker: um It was a goose in Goodfellas doing that scene, and it was just like, silly, silly how. My fucking silly how. yeah, I have seen that. Yeah, I've seen that, yeah. Silly, silly how. Silly good.
Speaker: Yeah. that's Anyway, but I mean, I love telling jokes, though, Ron. I do, too. Oh, no. Wait, no, I don't. No, I don't like telling jokes. We're not doing jokes. We're not. Wait, no, no, no. We're doing, we're, we're, we're getting angry. Oh yeah.
Speaker: Wrong intro. Wrong intro. Now I'm mad, Robert. That was the joke. How funny am I? All right. You're not funny at all. I'm not.
Speaker: Actually, cold jokes probably would have been better transition into. No, it's okay. This is Robert's section where he rants. This is where he's got his panties in a bunch. And this is where he talks about it. Robert, what do you want to rant about today, buddy? And there's sand in my vajayjay. Sand in vagina.
Speaker: Yeah. That's got to be uncomfortable. Go on. Yeah. Oh, it is. So. What? up Wait. Wait. ah So something that kind of happened recently, and this is happens in any kind of entertainment business. I'm sure i don't know if you've dealt with this, too, where you tell a story or you share something and there's a celebrity involved and there's always that person that has to let you know that they've either worked with them or they know them. And it's like, I don't give a fuck. And so I shared this thing. I've done that before.
Speaker: Yeah, I've shared this thing. It's okay if it's a close friend, but here's the thing. I shared this. Someone did an edit of the new Zelda game, but they did it with the old Robin Williams commercial.
Speaker: And oh I shared that. And then this guy that I don't really know too, too well, he just messaged me like, oh, yeah, I were. ah Or he's like, I got to work with him once.
Speaker: rob Actually, yeah, let me let actually know. Let me let me look it up. Let me look it up. let Let's get this accurate. Instead of I'm just making I need you to be angrier. This is a rant. I need you to be angrier, Robert. I know. I am angry. But you know what? I'm also confused. So all right. Here we go. all right. It's all right if you like. it was about Norm. It was about Norm. i put It was Norm MacDonald. He passed on September 14th. And so I did this. 2021? 2022? 2022. Or wait. No, no.
Speaker: 2021. Yeah, you're right. And then he commented on my story. I worked with him once and I just hearted it. And he's like, LOL, thanks. And I'm like, for what?
Speaker: And he's like, you like my message. I'm like, what did you want me to do? Like, oh my God, you worked with Norm MacDonald. Holy shit. And this is someone that's kind of like he brings the drama. So I wasn't like about it. And then South Carolina, Los Angeles brings the drama. Yeah. what Who knew? And then literally, i want to say two days later, if not the next day, i posted that Robin Williams thing. And they're like, oh, yeah, i also worked with Zelda, his daughter.
Speaker: And I'm just like, OK, like, I don't give a fuck, dude. I don't know. It rubbed me the wrong way. It just rubbed me the wrong way. Sometimes people drop it, you know, that they that they've worked with someone. But sometimes I just want to share something nice. I don't know.
Speaker: am i am i Am I overreacting? I maybe a little, maybe a little bit, maybe a little bit. I think it was because of this person. I think the guy, if if it's the person and he has no context other than like, yeah, I worked with Zelda Williams before. I did. I also worked with Norm Macdonald and Oprah. I worked with all these people. i don't,
Speaker: so fucking what If I don't talk you on a regular basis, I really don't give a shit. And I think it was a lack of, ah because all I did, I hearted the comment. And I was like, oh, that's, you know, which is like, oh cool. I'm acknowledging you. Cool. and But then he kind of gave that like little ah l LOL thanks. I'm like, what the fuck do you want me to do? Like jump off a cliff because you worked with Norm MacDonald? I think that's cool as shit. Oh god, you worked with Norm MacDonald?
Speaker: Yeah, like please tell me more. Tell me every single detail. Was he really a dick in real life or is he just like that on stage? ah Was he nice? That's always another thing too when someone says they met a celebrity. What do they say at the end? They were really nice. I do ask that question because sometimes celebrities are fucking dicks for no reason. yeah So I do ask that question. I'm like, also it's me wanting, like, please be nice. I'm a fan of them. I hope they're decent human beings.
Speaker: That's my thinking. Yeah. yeah I don't know. i think I think it was the person that triggered me. That's what I think Because if you did that, obviously obviously wouldn't I wouldn't get upset. No, i mean I think you've mentioned to me before, like i I think I mentioned something about Robin. You're like, yeah, i worked with him before. i was like, oh shit, really? When he passed, when he passed you and I had a ah long phone call because you and I were both like in fucking shock and mourning and crying our fucking eyes out. yeah And um you were like, ah yeah, I worked with him before. I'm like, oh my god, that's fucking amazing.
Speaker: Yeah. and so yeah you You worked with him on the crazy ones, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Which was a decent show, actually. I never watched it, I'll be honest. I'm a true actor. No, i never watch I never watch my work. I just i just yeah do it and go on. i don't I don't even know what I look like when I'm acting anymore. Oh, God.
Speaker: um But I kind of get that, though. So, yeah, you will hear me say that I've worked with some people. And I think you're right, Ron. I think it depends on the person because there I've had other friends that told me that like I was talking about Ron Perlman once and a friend ah with him. And I was like, cool. Like, I genuinely was like, oh, wow, that's awesome. What was he like? But I think it depends where who it's coming from where I'm like, i don't give a fuck. Like, shut up. But then if it's someone I know, I'm like, oh, that's so cool. Tell me more. if i would if i were to work with like let's say know just saw her on uh instagram ah if i were to work with gwyneth paltrow i would tell you that and that would be kind of fun right yeah i would how was she oh man great great she's fantastic um yeah my wife's leaving me now because we had an affair but uh yeah hey yeah no but i got it yeah you'd probably be one of the first people i tell if i worked with an actor a famous actor yeah the first that'd be cool
Speaker: Well, yeah, it's kind of work with all the time, so... but I'm sure you tell all your friends. All your friends. My friends love One of my flight attendant friends, he thinks you're hot as fuck.
Speaker: Oh, no, he's he's like, that's your host, your co-host. He's like, oh, my God, that's your. I swear to God, he did the exact thing. He's like, oh, my God, just like stared at you. I'm like, calm down, buddy. It's OK. Yeah. You got to stop showing him headshots from 2008. So what you got to do? it was It was it was our it was our podcast. ah Our sticker. I showed it. Oh, yeah.
Speaker: He was like, oh, God. but robert Ooh, well, here's the thing. If we want to, you know, that, that, that was kind of a very specific Robert rants. Yeah. That was, that was, that was uniquely you.
Speaker: That was uniquely me, but Hey, basically you comes down to like, I don't like this person. Shut the fuck up. Yeah. You're annoying. And if this person, and if this person listens to the podcast, you probably just lost a friend or a follower. Oh no, they don't. I, if it's not about them, they're not going listen. Nobody listens. Well, this is about them. So maybe they'll listen. oh Oh, man, make a little clippy clip. You know what? You that wants to brag to Robert, I don't fucking like you.
Speaker: If Robert doesn't like I don't like you. End of story. Oh, shit. Oh, shit. So many good clips for the intro. i don't going to happen. might have had a heart attack and my life has completely changed. I don't fucking care anymore because apparently you take care of yourself, you die.
Speaker: Yeah, but you do care about the sports world, don't you, Ron? I fucking do, Robert. That's what's going to put me in the fucking grave, the sports. This is Ron with Sports.
Speaker: Well, Robin, we got some great news here tonight, buddy. We got some great news. The Tampa Bay Rays. That's right. The Tampa Bay Rays the American League East champions. They have clinched the division. That's right. After beating the Yankees tonight, last night, 6-2.
Speaker: The Tampa Bay Rays are the American League East champions. We got hockey preseason starting up. Looking forward to that. And that's it. That's all have.
Speaker: All right. Well, there you go, guys. Now you're all updated on sports from week That's the thing that really fucking matters. Preseason hockey and baseball clinching. That's all that matters right Oh, I love clinching baseballs. You know what saying? In your ass? I bet you hey I bet you fucking do. It's all about that base. You know i'm saying? Robert's like, hey, come look at me.
Speaker: Come look at me on my butt. Slide into home plate. I'm going to shoot a curveball. Boop. Boop. o i don't I don't know what to do. I don't want any little short stops. I want the grand slams. You know what I'm saying? Calm down. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa. We don't tell we don't tell jokes here, okay? Or do we?
Speaker: We do. Oh, man. Look at this. Back to back, back to back. Oh, my God. Just little specials, which aren't even specials anymore. But this going be cold jokes, everybody. Let's do it.
Speaker: Cold jokes. Dying from your cold jokes. So what is what what are cold jokes, Ron? So, Robert, I write a joke. You write a joke or maybe two or three. And I've never read yours. You've never read mine. And we just kind of read them. And hopefully they're funny.
Speaker: Cool. They're probably not. No, I want you to go first today, buddy. Oh, wow. Okay. I want you to go first. Oh, like you read mine? Yeah. Oh, okay. yeah ya Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah okay yeah here we go My joke to Ron. It's a big one.
Speaker: With major news outlets being banned from covering the president of the White House, President Trump has announced plans to launch Trump TV. I, for one, am looking at this as an incredible opportunity to pitch my new TV pilot, Love Island Epstein Edition.
Speaker: you think they'll green light you didn't have to do the but uh i hope they can green light that uh but uh yeah i'm ready for you i'm ready for you ah calm down all right here we go martha stewart launched an anti-aging skincare routine in her 80s maybe at her age she should launch an anti-dying skincare routine Like said, it's like Norm Macdonald desk. That's very Norm Macdonald because I remember that. Maybe she's looking at an anti-dyeing skincare routine, huh? That is so Norm. That is Norm. You've been doing it. I've been loving the Norm. If you lean into Norm, Ron, you'll win over it. Imagine if I became more like a Norm Macdonald, Don Rickles comedian, I would...
Speaker: Be like Michael Richards. Well, dropping N-bombs on stage. I want to be more like a Michael Richards stand-up. You know what I mean? That's what I do now to say. The Kramer, obviously. Whoa, whoa, whoa. You know, that'd be kind of a joke. Oh, I got to take my pill because I'm dying. Okay.
Speaker: oh yeah you are dying um but yeah norm has that joke where it's like he talks about doctors trying to figure out symptoms or something and it's like you know maybe we should look into this dying thing you know maybe maybe we should figure out how to stop this dying thing i don't know get together so stupid i love it do i i cannot wait for that doc i love i love how people did not ever really get Oh, yeah. He was not loved till the end of his life. Like, for real loved. Yeah, it's like he like, he was genuinely funny. Like, I'm a closeted homosexual. Larry King's like, you're gay? Oh, yeah. I'm deeply closeted.
Speaker: ah That's one of my favorite jokes he'd say. And he's like, no, no, I'm not gay. Absolutely not. I'm deeply closeted. Oh, wait, so that that that means you're gay, but you just didn't come out about it. Yeah. Yeah. I'm deeply closeted about So you are gay? No, I ain't gay. ain't gay. I'm deeply closeted.
Speaker: Oh, it's so good. um i gotta talk It took Larry King a while to realize that he was fucking with us. Yeah. He does that same joke on Conan, too, and it's just like he talks about like his memoir book and he how he came out as a deeply closeted homosexual, and he's like, whoa, whoa, wait, what? he's like He's like, wait, are you gay? He's like, no.
Speaker: No, ain't gay. Yeah. Deeply closeted. And Conan is just like, okay, whatever. Did you ever see that time where, uh, Norm pulled a fast one on, on, um,
Speaker: on Letterman, there there it clearly was like a rehearsed joke where Letterman was asking him, you know, the joke was going to be, hey, ah you know, seeing the birth of your son was the most exciting thing that's ever happened in your life until you said something else happened.
Speaker: And his joke was going to be, oh, yeah, until I tried skydiving. And then that's the joke. But but if you watch the That's not even the joke, but that that that was what he was supposed to say. But instead, if you could watch the clip on YouTube, he's like, yeah, so the most exciting thing since the birth of your son, except for a what moment were you talking about, Norm? He's like, oh, since I tried crystal meth.
Speaker: And Letterman, you can see in his face, he's like, that's not how we rehearsed it. Like, wait minute. And he got him good. And you can see, because if for people who don't know, Letterman was Norm's like hero. Yes. And you can see. I saw something recently. Sorry to interrupt you. But Norm MacDonald apparently saw Letterman perform stand up when he was like 13 years old. Oh, I didn't know that. So Norm has like loved Letterman since day one.
Speaker: Wow. That's crazy. And, and you could see a Norm's face that like, imagine making your hero laugh. Like you can, that's the face he was giving where he was like, Oh, my hero's dead.
Speaker: Yeah. Mine too. Robin Williams. Robin Williams. Yeah. Um, John dead. Yeah. Yeah. ah I'm trying to think of like now if I made someone laugh.
Speaker: Oh man. See now after that Robert rants, I want to drop a name. i will be, I will be honest. If I can make my best friends laugh, I, I feel like that's an accomplishment. Yeah. Like our producer, Brad.
Speaker: We talk about him a lot. No, if I, I've never told him this and he's going to feel so odd when he hears it Like if I can make him genuinely laugh because he understands my antics, my jokes, my quips. Like he, he knows me in and out. pause So if I can make him laugh, like genuinely laugh,
Speaker: I know it's funny. Oh, I know it's funny because he also does improv. He does improv in Jacksonville. And if I can make him laugh. Yeah. i know well That's, that's interesting. You say that because I definitely have those very particular friends where if I run a joke by them, not that I'm like doing standup, but like, if I'm just talking about things that I think are funny, if they laugh at it, I feel confirmed that yes, this is a funny thing that I came up with.
Speaker: There are certain friends where like they're your filter. They're like, okay, if if they don't laugh, then maybe I got to like question this joke. Like um my friend Victor. um Also with him, I've also worked comedy with him for many, many years. If I can make him laugh, usually the stuff that makes him laugh is when I'm like,
Speaker: off the fucking rails, like, just completely different side of Ron. If I, like, insane, drop politically incorrect, not racist, but politically incorrect. And if I could make him laugh, also, yeah. But Brad is with the real test.
Speaker: Brad is the test. Okay. That's cool. but Um... um Oh, that's well, that's sweet. That's sweet. But um what was I going to say? Yeah, I even like I'm trying to think of like the kind of comic I would be like. I literally wrote a new stand up joke that is a bit like on the, i guess, edgier side. But I don't know what kind of comic I would be. I want to be full on offensive comic because even though I like even though I like I don't know what you would call that offensive comedy. I don't know, like edgy humor. I like that, but I don't think it would be my identity as a comic.
Speaker: um i feel like i'm all over the place maybe i don't know who am i will be i will be honest as a comedian like i can be afraid sometimes to take risks because of what the environment has become over the years um but since i may have had a heart attack i don't think i give a fuck anymore oh we're not gonna hear the end we're not gonna hear the end of it no you're not until i get the fucking procedure Yeah, we're you're finally going to get that heart attack and be like, Jesus, finally. My God. is scary. I mean, it is scary for real. for real scary but But like, I mean, yeah, it's like, OK, Ron, we get it. You almost fucking died.
Speaker: No, no, we won't be. nobody Nobody cares, Ron. Just why don't you just fucking die for real? Yeah. Fuck you. You know what? You need to really what you need to do. You need to drink more. Do you have a drink on you? You want to have you want to do that now? we don't have anything else to talk about.
Speaker: Oh, sorry. Jesus. Oh, um yeah. um Man, my day yesterday. We really don't have anything else to talk about. That was everything. That was it. Sorry. I got to come up with more stuff. I'm having such a good time. I don't, I know we don't have to end it. Everybody, everybody in the chat, drop some W's. If you want us to keep going. Oh wait, we're not live. We should do a live show. How would you feel about it? No, he no when I say live so ah show, I mean live streaming. Cause we can live stream on YouTube, you know, we could live stream on YouTube, but do we really want to fucking do that?
Speaker: Yes. Do you know this? You know, the shit that comes out of my mouth prior to the episode. Oh, well, yeah, but we won't show that. We'll go live when the show starts. You know i'm saying I'm saying it's rating men the moment you hit record today.
Speaker: Yeah, I think that's probably going use as a fucking clip before. Oh, I absolutely would. Because I'm deeply closeted. Yeah, yeah. he's He's not gay, though. He's not gay. No, no. he's not. Ew, he's not gay. went to theater school in Flattigton in school. Deeply closeted.
Speaker: Deeply closeted. You know? um Do I like musical theater? Yes. Yes, every chance I get. I do, actually. I actually musicals. Actually, some musicals really do suck, though. Like...
Speaker: yeah and Some of them are just too fucking pop. And I'm like, yeah I don't want to see Legally Blonde the musical. yeah You know what? I don't want to say this one either. It's a very popular one. and i Say it, Robert. Say it. No, I ain't going to say it. But I saw them perform it at an event, ah a song. And I'm like, wow, this song sounds obnoxious.
Speaker: I think this would, and if this is the song you're showcasing, I don't think I want say this show. I'll say it. I'm going to say, can I say Say it. You type it if you want. Type it. Go ahead. You better not repeat it. I might. I don't know. I have no. Don't.
Speaker: Don't. I've never seen it. Okay, cool. I've never seen sex. I have no idea. Oh my God. Ron, you son of a bitch. Okay. Time to backpedal. Backpedal Robert. I just think that one song is not my taste, but I'm sure the rest of the show is absolutely incredible. I um i saw the Lost Boys recently.
Speaker: Oh, the vampire one? Yeah, that was actually really good. I enjoyed the fuck out of it. I cried. I cried. I don't cry. I cry. Yeah. I cry. You cry on every episode. you time up I cry every time I have a heart attack. Hey-oh! Hey-oh!
Speaker: I have to make jokes. Yeah, otherwise you're... Yeah. yeah But, yeah, I mean, if we have nothing else to talk about, I guess I'll drink. Yeah, I mean, I also, I'm trying to think of a... It is Oktoberfest, though. It is Oktoberfest in Germany. Oh, should we go?
Speaker: would love to go to Oktoberfest. I could always cancel my plans with my friends and my family and just go to Oktoberfest with you in Germany. Yeah, can you cancel that? Yeah, sure. And then last minute. I'll get your buddy passed to ah Europe.
Speaker: Sweet. too It's in ah s send Munich, correct? Yeah, but we can fly to like Dublin or edinburgh or... Oh, I love Dublin. Paris or something. I fucking love Dublin. I want to go to Ireland so bad. i Oh, you haven't been? I've never been. I've only been to Spain. That's the only place in Europe I've ever been to. I've never been to anywhere else in Europe, and I really want to go to Ireland for some fucking reason. no reason Part of the reason is they have the highest concentrate of celiacs in the world. What's thats that? Is that a Pokemon? Celiac disease. Oh, okay. That a Pokemon.
Speaker: like, I know I can eat there and be happy as fuck. You're going give me potatoes and gluten-free beer? Yeah. Sign me the fuck up. Bro, I feel like you, me, our producer, Brad, you know, we should. He's been to Ireland.
Speaker: I love Ireland. It was probably my favorite overseas trip I've ever taken. I feel like I'm going to go there and not want to leave. Yeah. Yeah. and And there's so many there's, you know, it's more than just Dublin, right? Dublin is going to be their big city, you know, area, but it has so much character to it. I think it has more. Like I've been to Rome and that felt more like modern city.
Speaker: Like it had some like, you know, like some ancient stuff as you're walking by. But ah Dublin, it just the whole city, like obviously they have their modern spots, of course. Right. Of course. But um but I'm telling you, there's so many parts of Ireland that are just like I would I'd be so down to go again. No question. and I do want to have a Guinness in Ireland. I mean, I can drink Guinness. It's not wheat. Yeah. So I can drink that. I just I hear it tastes different. I want to try it.
Speaker: Yeah, I hear that Guinness doesn't travel well, meaning like it doesn't go through the tubes you know well. So it's like that's why they're very particular about how they pour it like and how they, I guess, like set it up. But we would go to the factory because you get free Guinness at the end. you get There's nothing wrong with free Guinness. um Also, what what's the other one? They have like Murphy's. That's another brand. they There's like three different Irish stouts.
Speaker: Two of them haven't really made their way over here, but the other two you can get in... Yeah. and ireland So yeah, I just want to try them all. It's like Pokemon. Gotta catch them all. Yeah, you got to. And we would go to, there's a place, I believe, I forgot the actual name, but it's it's it's famous for being the oldest pub in Ireland. Oh, okay. At first I thought, oh is this a gimmick? Because they promote it like crazy. The oldest pub in Ireland. And I'm like, or or in Dublin specifically.
Speaker: Because I'm sure the oldest pub in Ireland is probably some guy's shed, you know, that he used to sell fucking beer. that he made out of his bar. Oldest like pub in Ireland, just for the sake of it. Sean's bar.
Speaker: Yeah. So I went there. Sean's bar. It's Athlone. I probably said that wrong. Athlone County Westmeath or Westmeth. I'm sorry if I'm saying this wrong. Oldest pub in Ireland, 900 AD.
Speaker: Wow. That's crazy. Oldest pub in Dublin. Let's take a look just for the sake it. Yeah. Sean's bar is where I went. That's Sean's bar. The Brosenhead is the oldest pub in Dublin. Sorry, sorry, Bronzhead, Bronzhead, yeah, yeah. ah that's what i That's why I had correct myself. That is the oldest one in Dublin. That has been around since 1198. My goodness, we were babies. I've been to, I think, one of the oldest bars in New York, Nears Tavern. I've performed comedy there, that's in Queens. And also, Francis Tavern.
Speaker: I think it's called Francis Tavern. Apparently Washington was there, so that's one of the oldest bars. Well, the oldest pub in in Dublin that I went to, I was even asking locals, like cab drivers and stuff. And I'm like, hey, buddy, really? Is it actually the oldest or is it like a gimmicky? Because, you know, the locals will tell you, like, this is a piece of shit. You know, you know, it's like this is the best pizza in New York City. You know, they have a big old sign. It's like, no, that pizza shit. um But the guy, the the cab driver, he's like, oh, yeah, that's the oldest. I'm like, all right. So I need to know.
Speaker: And so it was, and it was good. And I had myself some Guinness beef stew. I think it was just good, man. It was good times. Francis Tavern apparently is the oldest bar in New York from 1762. Wow.
Speaker: Wow. where Where is it? Where in New York? It's in Manhattan. Okay, cool. Manhattan, like down in like the financial district over there. Okay. Yeah. Nears Tavern is one of the oldest ones. That's 1829. That place has one of the best burgers I've ever had.
Speaker: Really? Okay. There's a place. um I heard Bill Burr talking about it. Oh, did we talk? I think we talked about this on podcast. maybe The best burger he's ever had was like this place in Watts and in l LA and Cal. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. and And it's in Watts. And I looked it up and it looks like a place that would have the best burger. Like it's a building that was made fucking forever ago. Never updated kind of place. How do you spell it? W-A-T-T-S?
Speaker: I think it's W-H-A-T-S. Maybe but there's like a y I don't know. I'll tell you. It's in LA?
Speaker: Yeah. Let me see here.
Speaker: What's burger? It's called... It is called something, and I'm going to tell you what it is. Oh, God. damn I know. i'm glad I'm glad we didn't run out of stuff to talk about. No, I'm happy we didn't have it. Oh, Hawking's Burger. Hawking's? Yeah, you got it. Yeah, Watt's. W-Y-A-T-T. Hawking's House of Burgers, eh?
Speaker: Yeah, and if you look at it it, know if you Google map it or something. um No, but she looks like she don't fucking play. Yeah, it looks like a fucking place. It's in the middle of like an area you don't want to go to at night. It's it's that's where the best food is. Yeah, absolutely is.
Speaker: um I want to go there so bad. And, you know, it's a burger that I haven't had in forever that I actually i might. It does look really good, though. That looks like genuinely looks like a burger. Yeah.
Speaker: So I got to try. He was like best burger I've ever had. I'm like, all right, let's do it. I want to have, it have when's the last time you've had checkers burger? Oh God. and Forever ago.
Speaker: Right. And I, I think it was, I think it was a few years ago. I ordered a big Buford. I was drunk and ordered a big Buford. Yeah. ah So I'm out of prostitute. No, no. That was the name of the sandwich.
Speaker: Oh, the big beaver. No big Buford. Oh, they said I got the big beaver. I'm like, I think I saw that on a, on a catalog once. i got that beaver Yeah. Hey, it's my birthday. i got to go big or go home. I want the big beaver.
Speaker: um I want it. No, not my would make a damn out of it. All right. So. Fuck it out. All right. All right, guys. Come on. This is serious. This is serious podcast. serious podcast um But yeah, I'm going to try that. And I found out there's a rallies for those who don't know. That is the West Coast of Checkers. Same thing.
Speaker: Yeah. It's like Hardee's and Carl's Jr. Carl's Jr. Yeah. You know, Hollywood used to have a Carl's Jr. Jr. And it was like a mini think of like a mini Hardee's mini.
Speaker: Yeah. And and it's it's now a Chick-fil-A, but it used to be a Carl's Jr. Jr. I never went. It was just like a limited menu. carl j i think yeah you know i mean ah the the main difference between hardy's and Carl's Jr. I think, think Hardee's has fried chicken.
Speaker: And Breyers ice cream. Well, carls you guys Carl's just has burgers, right? No, I think Carl's has it all. We got it all, baby. We got the tacos too, right? yeah yeah i don't think there's tacos at Hardee's. That's Jack of the Box.
Speaker: Yeah, i honestly, Jack in the Box and Carl's, I mix up. They're the same to me. I really don't know the difference. I do not like Jack in the Box. Yeah, i honestly, if I took a bite of either one, I couldn't tell you.
Speaker: I'm sure there is a difference. I'm sure there is. but I'm sure there is. Anyway, I'm sure. Well, guys, I'm glad you stayed for the last portion where we looked up on Google Maps our but our favorite burgers. But we did talk about Dublin. We already have it planned. I think let's get Brad.
Speaker: Brad, if you can start setting up the... Brad, Brad, if you can start wrangle up some of the interns and set up a flight ah trip, get our hotel stay all good.
Speaker: um Put it on the company card, which is under Ron's name. And and yeah, if we can get that if we can get that Dublin trip started. Let me see if we got anything. No, nobody loves us. Okay.
Speaker: Okay, cool. Great. Also, guys, yeah, feel free to send in a penetrating question right now. Do it right now. Yeah, right now, because obviously you fucking didn't. Oh, my goodness. Don't have a heart attack. But so then you actually cry. But, yeah, send in a penetrating question because I want to answer them or send in your own cold joke. By the way, you can send that in through our penetrating question system. And, yeah, it'll be fun. But in the meantime, guys, I think that's going to be it. No.
Speaker: Anything going and grab on? I'm beer. Oh my goodness. Oh yeah, that's right. That's right. My bad. actually forgot. So let's get a, let's start drinking. and That was a face. All right.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. So today Last week I did a pumpkin cider from the Hudson North. to not Today is the Down East Cider Flavor Pumpkin. Tis the season. It is officially fall. This is a 5.1% cider.
Speaker: It contains cider, fresh pressed apple cider. ah So they give us hard cider and non-hard cider. Water, pumpkin puree, natural flavors. This comes all the way from Boston I'm from Boston. from boston And it says, we know what you're thinking.
Speaker: We do. But there's nothing basic about seasonal blend of apples, pumpkin, and chai. It's apple picket. It's pumpkin patch. It's all in a can. ah and then And then they write something upside down. Why what why is it upside down? Oh, shake we have to shake it.
Speaker: You do? yeah Is that a practical joke? Is this a prank, bro? No, no, We know it's upside down. Why? Because the best way to drink our unfiltered cider is to shake it up first by turning the can to read this. You're halfway there. Give it a shake. That's funny. Take 10 seconds and enjoy.
Speaker: And it's it's it's it's not carbonated, so you're good. Yeah, we'll find out. Yeah, we'll out. have to wait 10 seconds. All right. We're going wait in silence. Moment of silence for our cheap gas prices.
Speaker: Alright, let's go. Silence should have been a lot longer. I know. Oh! Oh! Ooh! Smells nice. I've had this company before and they are very good. Uh-huh.
Speaker: They are very good. People are going to chat me, you know, Ron, if you had a heart attack, you probably shouldn't be drinking. ah You know what? The show must go on. The show must go on. know, did John Belushi stop snorting Coke on SNL when they told him to stop? Prost.
Speaker: but And now he's dead.
Speaker: It's okay. All right. We got an okay. We got an okay. It's a schmeckt. It's schmeckt good. It's not a schleckt. But it's okay. I like the other one better. I mean, the way they advertise this with the seasonings, I expected more to be a little more chai-forward, as I mentioned. But, I mean, it's a good blend of apples. It's a good blend of pumpkin. But it's okay. it's I think Hudson North is better as far as pumpkin.
Speaker: Wow. Okay. Tasty. It's tasty, but it's not great. It's tasty in your mouth. Yeah. Most things are tasty in your mouth because that's taste. Hell yeah, brother. Although you can pour that in your butt and get yourself drunk.
Speaker: Allegedly. Yeah. You didn't hear about that? It's very like college kids who I don't know who the first guy was to try it. But yeah, it's dangerous. It can get it gets you drunk faster, but it doesn't go through like the filtration system of like I think your liver and stuff. So it's they don't recommend doing that.
Speaker: Do not pour beer in your butt is what we're saying. it just goes straight through your booty hole? I think so. So we'll try that on the next episode. Fire Robin, but fire Robin, but this is how Bubba the love sponge got fired. Okay. He did some weird shit online yeah on air.
Speaker: Let that tell that to your doctor next. Like how, what have you been doing to ah make sure that he you didn't give me any restrictions. He's just like, we're to test this out. Hopefully it's nothing. I'm like, I hope so too. I'm sure if you told him you wanted to drink beer at it with your butt, he would probably say no. it's like, do do you drink? I'm like, well, yeah, i've like i'm not as much, though. he's Not with my mouth. No. He's like, do do you smoke? I'm like, I haven't touched a cigarette in 12 years. I'm not allowed to smoke weed.
Speaker: haven't smoked weed in eight years. Right. So why? Why me, Robert? Why me? ah You're going to be fine. It's fine. You're fine. All right, guys. You're going to to do this by yourself.
Speaker: Oh, no. It'll be me, and I'll get some, like, AI co-host. I mean, i mean you you know what? It'd be like DB or BD because Brad would take in for me or take over for me. And it just doesn't – you can't be down with BD or Big Dick. I don't know.
Speaker: No, no. I wouldn't do that. It would – I'm too – You'd just be down with Yeah, down with ah be yeah down went r d down with Down with D. I bet you are. I bet are. Oh, you know. and It went from one wordplay to another. I don't think I could do down with D. That would be a little bit too much. That would be a little too much. Because already people were like, down with DP? What does that mean? i was like, what you I'm like, you guys. That's the whole fucking point for you not to understand until you listen.
Speaker: Yeah, we are just two deeply closeted hosts. Two deeply closeted hosts. Two white guys talking about shit. About the world and how they should do. The world should do what we suggest. That's what I say.
Speaker: Actually, yeah, that' that should be our slogan. The world should do what we suggest. And it might be a better world if you guys would just listen. Fuck off. Yeah, if you listen to everything we say. Listen to us! Can we be be the first co-president of the United States?
Speaker: Hmm. Hmm. That could be fun or terrible. One of the two, but, um, every, every, ah every, um, meeting with the, what do it was it? na Um, as we address the nation, it's always just an episode of the down and deep. Yeah. Yeah. All right, guys. So yeah, we heard America tonight. We're going to have a fire oven beer. This is how we end every one of our, as we address the nation.
Speaker: um yeah. Yeah, we we know health insurance is expensive. I get it. Can you stop? But write in, write into the show if you want me to address it. um All right, guys. I think that will be wrapping her up. And we will, ah unless we got any shout outs, I mean, got a little, I got a filmy film tomorrow.
Speaker: I have nothing. I have a show tomorrow. but By the time this airs, the show will already have happened. So i Yeah. And yeah, next week I will have wrapped.
