Hello and welcome to the Girl I Slept in My Makeup podcast by three sisters who are at three different life stages and have three different perspectives. They're excited to learn and grow alongside of you.
00:00:10
Speaker
This is a space full of love and acceptance. No judgment because let's face it, sleeping in your makeup is more than a podcast title. It's a reminder that we all mess up. So give yourself and others lots of grace.
00:00:22
Speaker
Please welcome my three little sisters, Lauren, Megan, and Kristen.
00:00:32
Speaker
Hey sisters. fine Hi. How are y'all? Good. little sick, but good. Yeah. It's cold outside. feel like we're having like an actual winter right now.
00:00:43
Speaker
I know. That's nice. So nice.

Texas Tech and Spirit Wear Fashion

00:00:46
Speaker
I was actually just talking to a girlfriend about, this is random, but about spirit wear. Cause y'all know Texas tech. I live in Lubbock has made it to the big 12 championship. wo breham And my husband is a mega fan and he's like, Lauren,
00:01:03
Speaker
This is like when the Texas Rangers went to the world series. It's a bit, it's like a once in a lifetime thing. Okay. Like I need you to get excited. So oh my god actually I'm trying to meet his level, but it's not quite working. But anyways, my girlfriend was just talking about how much cuter spirit wear is these days from back when we were in college, it was just like t-shirt and tennis shoes, you know? That's so funny. What are you wearing for the game? I actually have no idea I'm really bad about procrastinating, but i have, I'm sure I have something that I can just wear. I'm not going to buy anything now.
00:01:38
Speaker
Love it. So who are they playing? I don't even know. We're playing BYU again. We've already played them in the season and we beat them, but both of them made it to the big 12. And so after that, they will get a buy Texas Tech. Well, I think as of, as of last night, the guys were saying that I think we're ranked number four And so they'll get a bye week and then they'll go to the quarterfinals, which twi will be back in Dallas again for the Cotton Bowl on New

Thanksgiving Reflections and Family Time

00:02:10
Speaker
Year's Eve. Are you serious?
00:02:12
Speaker
Yes. And then they, and then the semis and then the national championship is in January and it's in Florida. Oh, wow. So if they make it, are y'all going to go? Oh yeah. Chris is like, we're going to everything.
00:02:26
Speaker
And I told him, I was like, are you sure you want to do like a guy's thing for one of them? And he's like, no, Lauren, get excited. oh my gosh. Is Kai going to all of them too? i guess we'll see. i don't know. I mean, I would assume so. Cause the one on New York, he'll be on Christmas break. So, and he's going this weekend with us to the big 12. So. Nice. Yeah. Crazy. well and y'all were just, we were all here for Thanksgiving. i feel like we got a good amount of quality time together, which was nice.
00:02:54
Speaker
Yes. I feel like it was full on for a handful of days. we We were worn out. Everybody was worn out at the end, but it was so much fun. Yeah. Yeah. I was so tired. I'm still kind of tired. Still ah recovering. Yeah. Listeners, if you haven't checked it out, go to our Instagram page because Kristen posted some funny videos. Anytime we get together, it's like we revert back to teenagers basically. Yeah. And make really silly videos. But some of them were really funny. And yeah. But yeah, it's fun. I was like state.
00:03:28
Speaker
Our friend Stacy was saying, y'all are so funny when you get together. And I was like, I know we're going to be 80 year olds and still acting like teenagers when we get together making crazy videos. yeah Yeah. So fun. There's no pride over here. We're just like willing to put whatever out. Goof balls. Yeah. ball But I mean, right.
00:03:47
Speaker
What is life without being goofball? Yeah. I know the guys were like, yeah, the halftime show wasn't very good. And we're like, well, we put on a great halftime show. so Yeah.
00:03:59
Speaker
I know. One of my friends was like, had you all been drinking? And I was like, actually, no. We hadn't. We were all completely sober. Yeah. I'm like, that's just us when we get together. yeah I'm telling you, it's like we're 12 again.
00:04:13
Speaker
i know. and Yeah. It's funny. ah Many people think we're like tipsy on alcohol or something. Oh my God. Yeah. I didn't even think about that. That didn't even cross my mind. It's so funny. i know Is that really what people thought? Oh no.
00:04:28
Speaker
I don't know, but that's what somebody asked me. I was like, actually, no. That's so funny. But yeah, it was so good seeing y'all. And I know had i know kai had A really good time bonding with his cousins. And yeah, it was great. I did. I was like a hair salon on, was that on Thanksgiving day? I don't, one of the days. Yeah. I think I read giving day and did everybody's hair.
00:04:55
Speaker
No, it was those on Saturday because that's when were watching the tech game. Yeah. Oh, yeah, that's

Emotional Aftermath of Holidays

00:05:01
Speaker
right. I do feel like there was a sense of like, I don't know if y'all felt like this, obviously the exhaustion from just like all the social and staying up later and stuff. But, and I feel like, you know, this is, is a our fifth Thanksgiving without mom or is it the sixth technically? always get confused on the timing.
00:05:17
Speaker
It'd be the fifth, right? It would be the fifth. Yeah. Yeah. Cause she died in October. Obviously the holidays are just different without her. And i feel like over time it gets easier, sadly, but also I felt like kind of like an emotional, like let down on Monday. Like, i don't know how to explain it. Like a hangover of emotions, if that makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. You've mentioned that before that you get that after hanging out with the family.
00:05:44
Speaker
because you, you said that after you came to Lubbock and we had a sister weekend too. Yeah. Yeah. It's weird. I think maybe it's, uh, maybe you're holding it together when we're together and then it's like, you're releasing it maybe of just that void of, as she's supposed to be here with us during all those times, or she would be here with us for all of these things. Yeah.
00:06:06
Speaker
And I mean, there's definitely void there. It's just, it's just weird being together without her there. i know it's wild. Still so crazy. Yeah. Still so crazy. Yeah. I was talking to somebody about grief.
00:06:21
Speaker
When was that? Yesterday we were texting about it and i don't, you know, everybody grieves differently, but I think sometimes it's like your, i my head has to catch up with my feelings. So I don't think I like recognize that I'm having emotions about it in the moment, you know, until later I look back and I'm like, Ooh, yeah, I'm sad. Yeah. Yeah.
00:06:42
Speaker
Mom used to actually say she processed that way. She was like in the moment, like if there was ever a crisis this or, you know, something happened, she, it was like, she was super strong and would just push through and do it when needed to be done in the moment. And then she would have days after where it was like all, all the floods came. Yeah, I guess I'm like her in that way then. It's crazy. Yeah. Yeah.

Family Movie Outing and Traditions

00:07:06
Speaker
I do too. Crazy, but I had so much fun. All the cousins, all nine of them got together and so watched ah Kinder's very first movie in a theater. That was so cute. oh but
00:07:20
Speaker
Aw. That was fun. i was i glad I'm glad I got Breeland there because I didn't think it was going to happen. Yeah. I know way to go. Got all of them there. Most of them made it through. I was glad the big ones, big cousins came. I wasn't expecting them to come. So that was cool too. Yeah.
00:07:36
Speaker
It's crazy. That's the first utopia came out like 10 years ago. I know. We did such a long time. It's one of my favorites. I can't wait to watch it again. Cause I feel like I was distracted during with all the kids there. Yeah.
00:07:50
Speaker
Yeah. Also, we introduced Kinder's very first elf on the shelf. Oh, y'all got one. Yeah. We're calling him Elfie. That's one of ours.
00:08:01
Speaker
Yeah. And Kinder at first was like terrified of it. Like, what the heck is that? Really? yeah And then we read the book and now he's like, okay, like all excited. And then he will be like, where's Elfie today? And he gets like, oh oh, we got to find him, you know, hide and seek. So I think it's like a part, you know, acting like he's playing hide and seek. But it's so cute to watch. It's like the cutest thing. i know.
00:08:26
Speaker
Kendra is so cute. And he's so good at talking. And he just seems so much older than he is. It's weird. I know. I know. His teachers say that. They're like, he's really mature for his age. I'm like, really? That's cool. Yeah. yeah He can talk pretty good for two-year-old. I'm always like, oh, wow.
00:08:45
Speaker
Yeah. He like breath it going on. Braylon was like that too. do yeah Hers was almost weird. Like it, because it was so good. Yeah. i was like, I didn't know if it was the youngest of four or what, but she always just spoke. So you're like, wait, you're like 18 months and you're having a conversation, like an adult you're freaking me out.
00:09:07
Speaker
So funny. Yeah. Like full sentences. so yeah. Yeah. yeah Yes. So good. it's So cute. Oh my goodness. I can't believe it. And then I'd like looking at the calendar. We just have a few more weeks and it's Christmas. am so excited for it, but I also just can't believe it. I feel like this year, feel like it was just January.
00:09:28
Speaker
i know. Crazy. The months get faster and faster. And now Joe's halfway through fifth grade. I'm going on the sky ranch field trip with them. It's like an overnight to night next week. And I'm hoping it's not like freezing.
00:09:45
Speaker
And I really didn't know what I signed up for. She like asked me to, to chaperone. And I was like, Oh yeah, sure. Like I'll put my name in. Cause it was supposed to be like a lottery where not everybody would get it. And I got it. And now I have to sleep in a cabin on like, a bunk bed. I'm like, what was I thinking?
00:10:03
Speaker
I would never do that. I cannot believe I'm going to this. I went to the teach parent meeting on Monday and left like so overwhelmed because the parents are we are the counselors. Like we are in charge. The teachers are there, but I mean, we're the ones in the cabins. We're the ones taking them to all the activities. i was actually like really shocked. I had no idea how intense it was going to be. So do y'all have to do a background check?
00:10:31
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. Yep. That's good. Yeah. I don't know why I randomly thought of that. Yeah. Yeah. We have to have a background check even to be volunteer at the school. Yeah.
00:10:42
Speaker
To be like at the Christmas party and all of it. No. Yeah. yeah It's probably good. I mean, especially, I don't know if y'all heard about that whole Salina thing. The school teacher at Salina, was it middle school? I don't remember what happened. I didn't hear about it.
00:10:57
Speaker
Oh, it's so crazy how much this happens where a middle school teacher, I think it was the Salina middle school where he was arrested and not, it was not good. It was a lot of not good stuff. So yeah, I know.
00:11:12
Speaker
I hate that. I know. You just never know. Yeah. People are, it's shocking. Shocking, shocking. speaking shocking, should I share what happened in our hotel?

Hotel Experience and Safety Concerns

00:11:25
Speaker
Oh my God. Yeah. That was horrible.
00:11:28
Speaker
Long story short, I won't go into all the details, but on Thanksgiving morning, i was woken up by, we had one of those hotel rooms that had a connecting door and I was woken up by really, really loud music next door. Nobody was talking. It was just really loud music. And so,
00:11:44
Speaker
We, I just went ahead and got up and luckily Kai slept through it because the night before that we had a, we got zero sleep the night before. So, so, but we got dressed. I called the front desk and was like, is our neighbor checking out today by chance? And they said, no, he's here till Saturday. So we were going to move rooms, but we said, we'll do it when we get back later.
00:12:03
Speaker
We did, we got back late at night. Chris was too tired to move rooms. So we went to sleep. Luckily Kai spent the night with his cousins. So it was just k Chris and I will 5am the next morning, same thing, blaring music. So we called down to the front desk and they were like, we'll send security up. that did not end well in all part is you F you, F mother effer, blah, blah, blah. And, uh,
00:12:27
Speaker
So this went on for a while and then we would hear the door shut and it get quiet and then go again. Anyways, so we called back down because he was like banging on our wall saying F you. And then the chair in the room had rollers or wheels on it and he threw that against the wall and it dropped and you could hear that it kind of crashed and broke.
00:12:47
Speaker
And then it got quiet, but anyway, I haven't been that I was kind of shaking. it was so crazy. Cause in my mind, you know, when you're woken up from a dead sleep, of course, my brain went to worst case scenario. And I'm just thinking about too many dateline preparing for bullets to come through the wall. You know, anyways, it was fine. They moved 10 rooms.
00:13:08
Speaker
And then we packed up and we moved rooms. We were shocked they didn't kick him out. But anyways, that's the story. But it was just mind blowing because we were just like, wait, what? Like this person must be psycho.
00:13:22
Speaker
Always something with his family. I know. I know. It was funny. So I felt like we got we were like sleep deprived on this trip, especially, but it's fine. We've recovered. Like usually the fire alarm goes off in every hotel y'all stay at. So I know, I know one time with y'all with us.
00:13:42
Speaker
I know. It's crazy. Yeah. it's hilarious. oh where were we? Oh yeah. That was last summer when we got, uh, we weren't even supposed to go to Spain and we got stuck in Madrid and that was crazy. Cause we really thought there was a real fire and we were outside in our pajamas. It was hilarious.
00:14:00
Speaker
yes Yeah. Y'all always have crazy hotel stories. I mean, but I guess y'all have to stay at a hotel every time you come here. So maybe it's bound to happen. Yeah. Yeah. I'm so glad. It ended there and nothing else happened. But yeah, that was horrible. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Yeah.
00:14:17
Speaker
Poor guy. I honestly, like, I remember when you told me all that, I like said a prayer for him. Cause like, gosh, something must be like really wrong in his life, you know, for him to act so crazy.
00:14:28
Speaker
Yeah. It's interesting. You said that. Cause I told the same thing to Chris. I was like, isn't it weird that out of all the hotel rooms in that hotel, he was right next to us. And, and and then I said, i was laying in bed when I was shaking and I just started praying for him. And so I was like, what if, what if God put him there just so that he could have a prayer? And then you're telling me now you prayed for him. So like, maybe that was the purpose. Yeah.
00:14:56
Speaker
Maybe never know. It's going to be so cool to get to heaven and like everything, you know, just things that we don't even think about, you know, be shown to us probably where we're like, Oh, Oh, so that was going on.
00:15:13
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. That makes sense. Sorry, God. oh my gosh. Crazy. i love it. Well, listeners, we're going to take a small break, not like about a month for Christmas off the podcast. So this is our last episode before the new year, which I cannot believe that it's going to be 2026.

Devotional on Joy and Patience

00:15:36
Speaker
And we are just praying for you as you walk into the holidays and as you go into the new year for just so many blessings and Lauren's going to read, i guess, our last revive devotional of the year, which I've been enjoying so much. I hope you all have too. Yes. And as you guys know we are in Advent and I have personally never done like an organized Advent devotional, but I did order one. And i highly recommend if you don't do it this year considering it next year, because it's been really cool so far. And this is the season of waiting. And so of course, God would have this week be titled joy while you wait. Okay.
00:16:22
Speaker
When I was starting to write and create products, I remember feeling silly and vulnerable. And I found myself asking, am I crazy for thinking this will work? Then after years of digging, plowing and showing up, when the harvest felt distant, began to increase and people began to share my content.
00:16:41
Speaker
My motivation really was to share the kindness of God and expand his family. However, it's only human nature to wonder if we are driving in the right direction when there aren't many side signs on the journey.
00:16:53
Speaker
Now I see the weight was the preparation. No matter the outcome, I learned that God is trustworthy. Do you find it hard to remain joyful when you are waiting for something you really, really want?
00:17:06
Speaker
When God's timeline seems delayed, do you feel discouraged about moving forward? As believers, we understand that true joy is not dependent on circumstances or answered prayers. Joy comes when we know the heart of the controller of all circumstances and the hearer of all of our prayers.
00:17:26
Speaker
This means that no matter the situation, joy is possible. Cultivating joy isn't automatic or easy. It is a discipline rooted in the belief that God is good. He is for us and his timeline can be trusted.
00:17:40
Speaker
This week, you will come up against your own internal clock and wonder, where is God? Does he see me? In each of those moments, you will have the opportunity to walk in faith and cultivate a joy that isn't dependent on his answering your prayers or delivering your desires. Rather, this joy is possible because you believe that he is who he says he is. Make him the cornerstone of your life and you will be comforted by his faithfulness no matter how intensely the waves crash around you.
00:18:09
Speaker
When your belief feels shaky, go back to his word. Dig deep into what he has already promised you. Chances are the very thing you are waiting for will not be transformation you are hoping for, but how you wait right now will become the highway to the holiness your soul has been craving.
00:18:29
Speaker
God is a loving God and he would never withhold a good thing from you. As you surrender your own preference and realign with your heavenly father's perspective, patience refuels your soul.
00:18:41
Speaker
Be encouraged and remember his timeline is the one you would always pick if you knew what he knows and could see what he sees. Don't forget this life is simply a short moment on your way to forever.
00:18:54
Speaker
Don't be frustrated with the weight commit to choosing joy. Wow. That was good. So good. i love that patience refuels your soul. and I think it's almost like waiting needs a rebrand in our society. Yeah.
00:19:08
Speaker
Yeah. Well, the, I'm going to read the five declarations of the week. Okay. Number one, if I have to wait, I will do so with patience and trust, knowing that God never withholds his best from me.
00:19:20
Speaker
Number two, i will remember that God's timeline is perfect. Number three, because God's faithfulness of my celebration, i will choose joy every day. Number four, I will keep my heart encouraged in word of God. It is relevant to every situation. Remarkable kindness, lavish grace, and radical faith will be my goals this week. It's kind of funny because this does correspond with my Advent devotional where I was reminded this morning that a lot of times in the waiting,
00:19:54
Speaker
What we learn in the waiting is just as important, if not more important than whatever we're waiting for. And I thought that that was such a good reminder that it's really in the waiting that we can be transformed if we're open to it.
00:20:09
Speaker
Yep. And I feel like our culture and myself have been brainwashed to think waiting is not a good thing, you know? Yeah. Yeah. well And I think sometimes too, it's something that never comes is maybe for the best, you know? yeah It wasn't meant to be like, that wasn't your plan or your purpose. So.
00:20:29
Speaker
Yeah. And it's like conceptually makes sense. But when it's, I guess I can empathize with when you want something so bad. I mean, I just, what comes to mind for me personally is just since I was a little bitty girl, you know, pictured myself, I just knew I was going to have four or five kids, you know, and that was my life dream.
00:20:49
Speaker
And so when it's something that's rooted that deep, It can be hard to remind yourself that his plan is better, but it's a choice. And so I think that there is blessings in consciously making that choice to believe that his plan is better always.
00:21:09
Speaker
Yeah. Like I, there's things I've wanted in life that I didn't fully get. And i when I think on it, I'm like, I feel like I wasn't supposed to get that. Cause I feel like if I did really bad things could have happened, you know? And I feel like was being protected almost. So yeah, hope that sounds crazy or not, but no, I totally believe that. Yeah, I do too. And kind of like we were saying earlier, like when we get to heaven, i don't know if we will get to see those things, but I think maybe we will be like, Oh, okay. That's why God,
00:21:38
Speaker
moved me in this direction, you know? Yeah. And even how this today said, i think it's easy for us little humans to forget sometimes that this life here is truly just a blink in

Eternal Life vs. Temporal Concerns

00:21:52
Speaker
time. It's the forever that we really should be focusing on because yeah That's what really matters. That's forever. This is just a quick little blip, you know, temporary home. Yep. Yes. Indeed. I love it. I, it's so funny how every time we read one of those revives, it's like right on point.
00:22:11
Speaker
It's crazy. And it is crazy. it's I love God. I'm reading for the third time. Lauren, didn't you read this too? a Long Obedience in the Same Direction. Oh, yeah. It's been a long time. Yeah.
00:22:24
Speaker
Well, I saw you posted a quote earlier and it's by this author. Oh, really? Yeah, Eugene Peterson. So anyways, I'm reading it for a third time just because every time. Oh, I read it for a second time last year and I was just like, oh, my gosh, it was even more.
00:22:39
Speaker
It's like as you grow in your own learning, kind of similar to reading the Bible. It's like you'll read a verse and you'll see it totally different. And he basically is going through the Song of Ascents in the Psalms and he's breaking them all down. But it's just about discipleship. It's discipleship in an instant society. So there's a lot of talk about waiting too. So anyways, it's just funny because it all coincides. And I highly recommend this book. My pastor recommended it to me like years ago. I'm reading it again, which sounds crazy, but I'm loving it. Just reading like a chapter a night.
00:23:15
Speaker
Yeah. Highly recommend. But do y'all have, since this is our last like meeting of the year and then we can kind of close out, i was trying to think about, you know, I feel like everybody talks about January goals and I feel like over the last, you know, since 2019, we've been doing this podcast and we've talked about how we're always

Goals for the Upcoming Year

00:23:34
Speaker
setting goals. So we're don't just do like New Year's resolutions, but is there anything, ah you know, it's only December 3rd when we're recording this, but I kind of like to start thinking about my goals now. Is there anything y'all want to accomplish in 2026? Or like, how are you feeling about that whole concept?
00:23:53
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I want to continue my health goals. That's, you know, I really started focusing on it actually this summer. And i just want to continue that. And, you know, living a better lifestyle. And then, yeah, just spending time with family. And I would like to have another baby at some point. So, yeah.
00:24:14
Speaker
Yay. love it. Make it, make it 10 baby, 10 grandkids. Yeah. I was like 10 babies. he crush fine No. Yeah. Megan, I wasn't expecting this question, but the first thing that kind of popped to my head is I feel like God's been putting it on my heart a lot the past couple of months to just more serving. And so i think that can look so different for a lot of people, but there's a couple of things that specifically that have been, ah that I've been looking into. And so I think next year I'd like to get organized with that and just implement a consistency with it.
00:24:56
Speaker
love it. I was thinking at about, I don't know if it's cause like five years feels like a long time full circle in a way. Like I'm speaking at the ceremony of remembrance this Friday and like giving my testimony And speaking to all these people that are probably grieving and thinking about how in 2020, like God really was like, I felt like screaming at me to read my Bible. This was before mom died. And I was like, okay, I will read my Bible. Like, I'm sorry. And I went on a journey of like doing all of these Bible studies, like for the last five years,
00:25:28
Speaker
And then at the end of this year, i will have completed the Bible recap, which is means I read a couple of books of the Bible every single day this year. And I don't say that as like I'm i'm bragging or something. I just can't believe I did it.
00:25:42
Speaker
Kind of crazy where I feel like it took five years really, truly read my Bible. You know what I mean? And so I just want to encourage people. if you feel like the Bible is super overwhelming and it doesn't make sense to you you don't really want to read it. Like that's how I used to feel, but how it talks about it being daily bread, like it is, that's what it's become to me. And i understand it. And it started with just taking like really small steps and So I feel like I'm just going into 2026, continuing that journey. Like I'm never going to stop. Like it I don't want to stop reading the Bible. Like I think I want to do it again, the Bible recap, like a second time and just keep listening to God, like for his daily promptings and,
00:26:26
Speaker
Not really make as many like goals, if that makes sense. But just, I mean, I'm going to make goals, but make him more with him. Like I've been trying to do that. I feel like where I'm like, okay, I want to have your goals be my goals. God, like, I don't want to lead my life. I want you to lead my life. And so I'm just now starting to think about this, but i think I really, when I sit down to do anything, like I just want to that full surrender of, I have no idea what is ahead, like, I trust you, you know, and just continuing to take steps towards what he wants for me every single day. And it's been a journey of that for five years, but going deeper and deeper into it.
00:27:08
Speaker
Yeah, no, I think that's so good. And another reminder too, is I think that just back to like the waiting thing too, it's like when we, we start to get anxious about decisions that we have to make and just about life. And then because we want control and sometimes just to remind yourself that like, it's our anxiety that causes us to make Decisions, I think, too fast because we're so uncomfortable with the and the the lack of control. Yeah. And kind of what you're saying, Megan, is like, how about we all take a step back and just kind of sit where we're at, even in the uncomfortable, because we don't want to go before

Trusting God's Work in Unseen Circumstances

00:27:48
Speaker
God. We want we want to allow God to go before us. Yeah. And to see what that looks like. And so i think that, and the thing I was reminded yesterday is that there's so many examples in the Bible where God works really well in the dark and does really major things up in the dark. And so, um,
00:28:06
Speaker
to just try to get a little bit more comfortable with trusting and knowing that he's working in the dark on our behalf. Yeah, for sure. so when we go through hard times and i mean, we can take that literally too, even when we're sleeping, yeah he's still, he's always at work for us. So.
00:28:25
Speaker
Exactly. And I feel like my soul's finally like settled in that where I think I was fighting that for a long time. Like I wanted to, and I knew in my logic that that was like what God was calling me to live like, but I didn't really know how to actually live that out. And it's just taken a lot of like,
00:28:43
Speaker
repetition of like replacing old lies with truth. And yeah it's a journey. I didn't tie it with a bow. What I was getting at is what you were saying about being in the word daily is I think that's how you do it well is just continuing to implement that and replacing your thoughts with the truth. And i think opening the word is the best resource for that.
00:29:07
Speaker
Yes. Agreed. Well, listeners, we hope that you guys all have great holidays and just get quality time and can really focus on resting and just the company that's in front of you, not getting lost in the chaos and the to-dos and the presents, all of the questions that we've made Christmas be about, but instead take some time to just remember what it's truly about and what we're waiting for and to just have peace and

Prioritizing Spiritual Connection During Busy Seasons

choose.
00:29:42
Speaker
Yes. And I really just challenging myself every single day to continue to get in God's presence and my secret place. I think during busy seasons, we put that as like a last resort. yeah,
00:29:56
Speaker
We all have time for it. Even when we say we don't, um it doesn't have to look special. It can be instead of five minutes of scrolling on social media or five minutes of watching a show, like just take that five minutes and get still in God's presence and build that as a habit. You might as well start now because it'll pay off.
00:30:16
Speaker
Amen. Awesome. Okay. Do you want, I can pray. Okay. Father God, thank you so much for loving us and sanctifying us continuously.
00:30:26
Speaker
speaking to our hearts and you just do it with such grace where we we're just reminded that there's no need for shame, that we're just human beings doing our best. We live in a fallen world. And just that reminder that you meet us right where we're at. And all that means is that you don't judge us for where we're at, that you fully accept us and also challenge us to the be who you made us to be and to set higher standards for ourselves and walk in the light. So I just pray for anybody listening as they're going through the Christmas season, that they seek you every single day in their quiet place and really get still and ask you to guide their days and their steps every single day. And I just pray that as you, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, that we really are just in such awe, like it hits us on a deeper level of like,

Jesus's sacrifice and what that means for our life. And i love that song by Josiah queen, where he says, um basically says, watch your mouth. Like, don't talk bad to yourself because the holes in Jesus's hands are proof of how much he loves us. And so I just hope everybody feels that on such a deep, deep level, just how loved they are. And then that they spread that love and joy, like a ripple effect in their life and circle And thank you, God. We love you. and Jesus name. Amen.
