Introduction and Hosts
00:00:06
Speaker
Thanks for tuning into the Loser Kid Pinball Podcast.
00:00:09
Speaker
You are on episode number seven.
00:00:11
Speaker
I am your host, Josh Roop, here with my co-host... Scott Larson.
00:00:17
Speaker
How is it going today, Scott?
Weather and Personal Updates
00:00:18
Speaker
You know, it's been really cold.
00:00:22
Speaker
Spring is my favorite time of the year, and we have a lot of trees that have some nice blossoms that kind of wakes you up from the winter.
00:00:31
Speaker
Winter's great here.
00:00:32
Speaker
I love living in Utah.
00:00:33
Speaker
I love being able to ski.
00:00:35
Speaker
But I really do look forward to spring and kind of that changing of the season and when things warm up.
00:00:40
Speaker
It warmed up last week and I was down near in St.
00:00:44
Speaker
George, which is about two hours outside of Vegas.
00:00:46
Speaker
And it was feeling warm.
00:00:47
Speaker
It was feeling like it was time to wake up.
00:00:50
Speaker
And we got back here and it was nice for one day.
00:00:53
Speaker
And we have been hit with a rain slash snowstorm for the last two days.
00:01:00
Speaker
How has it been out by you?
00:01:01
Speaker
Because you're about three hours away farther east, but you guys get a lot of howling winds.
00:01:09
Speaker
The interesting part was it was not bad this morning.
00:01:12
Speaker
I had a job actually out in Vineyard, which is Orem area.
00:01:16
Speaker
Oh, you should have called me.
00:01:17
Speaker
I should have, but I was in such a time crunch today.
00:01:21
Speaker
But no, it was insane going through Daniels.
00:01:23
Speaker
That's like our big cliff area.
00:01:25
Speaker
And it just, or our big
00:01:29
Speaker
not cliff area what do you call a canyon area and there was just so much snow and the wind was blowing it you couldn't see the roads it just was gnarly and it's weird like you said last week it was nice and warm and and this week it's it's sadly just back to winter for some odd reason so yeah well and it's it's typical this is this is how utah is so yeah
00:01:52
Speaker
Well, what have you been up the last, it's been, it feels like forever since we last recorded, we kind of were off a little bit and then we recorded on a weekend and put it out on a Monday because of the black night.
00:02:04
Speaker
And yeah, we've, we did so much in the last couple of weeks.
00:02:08
Speaker
Yeah, no, it's, it's, it's been good.
Pinball Industry Strategies
00:02:11
Speaker
We well, let's jump right into it.
00:02:14
Speaker
So we actually recorded, we record after Texas and we were able to talk about different things and I may actually have some different takes on
00:02:22
Speaker
on some perspectives that I, I may have ranted a little bit that Stern didn't release anything and really kind of neglected the Texas pinball festival show.
00:02:34
Speaker
However, I've kind of thought about it more and I thought, you know, maybe they really wanted to at least give Munsters kind of the spotlight.
00:02:42
Speaker
They had a big, a big event with, with two of the original cast members.
00:02:49
Speaker
And I think they were trying to,
00:02:52
Speaker
sell as many of those as they can before they moved on to the new one.
00:02:55
Speaker
I think it's kind of sad that it, uh, black night didn't get the big reveal at the festival, but I also understand why they did what they did.
00:03:04
Speaker
Um, and I, I also, I think there's a little bit of strategic planning between Stern and JJP with JJP.
00:03:16
Speaker
They obviously, both of them know what the other is doing.
00:03:23
Speaker
with Expo when J.J.P.
00:03:27
Speaker
And they really impressed everybody and blew them away.
00:03:30
Speaker
And then a week later or so, Stern released Guardians of the Galaxy.
00:03:36
Speaker
And I think in some ways kind of eroded what J.J.P.
00:03:43
Speaker
Now, of course, J.J.P.
00:03:44
Speaker
didn't have Pirates available to sell.
00:03:47
Speaker
So I think that certainly didn't help.
00:03:49
Speaker
But I think that JJP is trying to do a little bit of that with what they are likely releasing on Friday, which to all signs shows it to be Willy Wonka.
00:04:02
Speaker
So it'll be interesting to see how that works.
00:04:04
Speaker
strategic planning plays out.
00:04:07
Speaker
I know as the fan base, it's difficult, but I understand why they do it.
00:04:14
Speaker
Movies do the same thing, right?
00:04:16
Speaker
If you're a big movie and you're trying to figure out when to release, you're not going to release it against Star Wars.
00:04:23
Speaker
You're not going to release it against Avengers Endgame.
00:04:26
Speaker
You're going to try to position yourself so you're the only game in town.
00:04:32
Speaker
So I understand why they did it.
00:04:34
Speaker
I think it did disappoint a lot of people who were planning on going to the Texas Pinball Festival expecting more news.
00:04:41
Speaker
In many ways, that's why I didn't end up pulling the trigger, and I was anticipating going to the Texas Pinball Festival this year.
00:04:48
Speaker
Well, and I think also it comes down to โ I don't know if JJP and Sturduno they're โ
00:04:54
Speaker
the way that they're doing their reveals together.
00:04:59
Speaker
But it does look like there was some predictability on what Stern was going to do.
00:05:03
Speaker
And so JJ kind of capitalized on it.
00:05:06
Speaker
So I think they do.
00:05:07
Speaker
I obviously, if, if random, if random podcasters who have no money in the game, have enough information on what's going on, being fed to them by either side, then I guarantee that they have,
00:05:23
Speaker
You know, it's basically espionage.
00:05:26
Speaker
I mean, that's what they do.
00:05:27
Speaker
It's company espionage.
00:05:30
Speaker
So I'm sure that JJP has people at Stern who work for them and they know who to talk to.
00:05:37
Speaker
And I'm sure that Stern has the same thing at JJP.
00:05:40
Speaker
And whether or not it's a worker on the line or something, I doubt it's any high-level intrigue.
00:05:46
Speaker
I mean, this is not a Cold War situation.
00:05:49
Speaker
But there's enough information floating around that comes...
00:05:52
Speaker
That would be fantastic if it were a Cold War situation, though.
00:05:56
Speaker
But I think it's just more of a, hey, there's so many people who work at Stern and work at J.J.P.
00:06:03
Speaker
Somebody's going to be able to tell you what's going on.
00:06:07
Speaker
Yeah, I know what you mean.
00:06:10
Speaker
But it would be fantastic if it were like a James Bond situation where he dressed up in like a tuxedo and snuck into Stern so he could see what's going on.
00:06:19
Speaker
That would be hilarious.
00:06:22
Speaker
Well, no, and I'm looking forward to both of
Challenges of Podcasting
00:06:25
Speaker
But before we get moving on to those, I was going to say we got to meet with Martin from head to head.
00:06:29
Speaker
And it's funny because, like I said, it feels like it's been so long since we last recorded that when I texted you, I'm like, did we ever talk about Martin?
00:06:37
Speaker
You're like, dude, we didn't even record after we met with Martin.
00:06:41
Speaker
I'm like, dang, that's how long it's been.
00:06:43
Speaker
It's just been, it's been too long.
00:06:45
Speaker
Well, it's challenging.
00:06:46
Speaker
I mean, we both have real, I, um, I know it's shocking to say that none of us get paid for this.
00:06:51
Speaker
And so this is just, Hey, this is what we do in our spare time when we're trying to have fun and enjoy our hobby.
00:06:58
Speaker
And this is one way of enjoying the hobby is actually being a podcaster.
00:07:02
Speaker
Um, so yeah, it's, uh, it, it certainly, and since we have more of a casual schedule, um,
00:07:10
Speaker
But you and I talked about this.
00:07:11
Speaker
My feeling is if you have more of a casual schedule, then it allows you to not take the podcasting as much of a job and more of a hobby.
00:07:22
Speaker
And so I think it's easier to sustain some excitement about it.
00:07:26
Speaker
So hopefully it comes across.
00:07:30
Speaker
And it's kind of nice.
00:07:31
Speaker
That's what's nice about this is, like I said, it feels so long that I'm actually excited to get back behind the microphone.
00:07:37
Speaker
I'm not saying I haven't been excited, but I know some of the guys that we talk to that are other podcasts that we get ideas and we, we talk to, uh, just about different stuff that happens behind the scenes and whatnot.
00:07:49
Speaker
You can tell that if you're doing it week to week, they kind of get burned out.
00:07:54
Speaker
It starts out as something fun and enjoy joyous or whatever joyful.
00:07:59
Speaker
It kind of goes down quick because the people are really good at their jobs like head to head and special and lit.
00:08:06
Speaker
And those guys are are on a weekly basis and they have all this content and whatnot.
00:08:11
Speaker
It seems like they get a lot more listeners, but they also get a lot more critics.
00:08:17
Speaker
That's one of the things we were talking to with Martin is it's hard.
00:08:21
Speaker
You get a lot of critics behind the scenes because they don't think you're doing it right or they want you to do it a certain way.
00:08:28
Speaker
And that's kind of the nice part.
00:08:29
Speaker
We haven't hit that point.
00:08:32
Speaker
The only critic we get dance creasel of like the collective gamers.
00:08:36
Speaker
And he's not even a critic, man.
00:08:37
Speaker
He just comes here.
00:08:39
Speaker
It's so funny because we'll do an episode.
00:08:42
Speaker
And the next day or the day after, we'll get like a page worth of.
00:08:46
Speaker
comments and i would just i love talking to dennis he's a great guy so dennis is so great dennis actually probably listens to the podcast more than you or i do so that that's it's always good to have someone who who gives you a good summary of what we talked about as opposed to a hey you guys are idiots don't do your podcast yeah it is kind of embarrassing when you're like i don't remember talking about that and you have to go back and listen through your own episode yeah to respond to what he said yeah but no it's great yeah
00:09:14
Speaker
What were we saying there?
00:09:17
Speaker
But no, it's great.
00:09:20
Speaker
I love what the other podcasts are doing.
00:09:23
Speaker
And speaking what the other podcasts are doing, I thought the burnout issue was happening with...
00:09:30
Speaker
Oh, this week in pinball podcast.
00:09:32
Speaker
It, it does happen.
00:09:34
Speaker
I think it's just, it's hard.
00:09:35
Speaker
It's hard to maintain momentum.
00:09:37
Speaker
And it's, um, one of my favorite podcasts, if you guys haven't listened to it, it's, uh, it's Tony Kornheiser.
00:09:43
Speaker
He's actually the guy on a part, pardon the interruption on ESPN.
00:09:47
Speaker
And I've been listening to him for years, but his podcast is really, it's marginally about sports, but really just more of like a morning talk show.
00:09:57
Speaker
And he's always talked about this when people come up to talk to him and he says, well, I want your job.
00:10:03
Speaker
And he's like, okay, great.
00:10:05
Speaker
So you've got your Monday show.
00:10:06
Speaker
You talk about sports, Tuesday show, Wednesday show.
00:10:09
Speaker
What are you going to talk about Thursdays?
00:10:11
Speaker
And I always think about that with our podcast or with any podcast that, yes, it's always great to get that big adrenaline surge when you talk because you're excited to talk about what you're passionate about.
00:10:23
Speaker
But eventually, you kind of have to maintain your momentum.
00:10:28
Speaker
And it's really โ I'm just looking at it personally.
00:10:30
Speaker
I think it would be really hard for me to maintain that momentum every week if โ you and I both have young kids.
00:10:39
Speaker
And we're married.
00:10:40
Speaker
We have real jobs, not pinball-related.
00:10:44
Speaker
Hey, pinball-related job would be fantastic, but I don't have that, well, basically any ability to contribute to the pinball industry.
00:10:54
Speaker
Stern, if you're listening, Scott wants a job.
00:10:57
Speaker
I'll just move to Chicago right now.
00:11:00
Speaker
Or Kara, his wife wants you at JJP, so Jersey Jack, if you're listening.
00:11:05
Speaker
Hey, I'd be open to DeepRate.
00:11:08
Speaker
San Antonio sounds pretty nice this time of year.
00:11:12
Speaker
But yeah, I think it makes a big difference if it's more of a passion project than a job.
00:11:20
Speaker
And this is not taking away from anything from all the podcasters because you and I have listened to so many podcasts and that's what basically got us to where we are today.
00:11:29
Speaker
I think that the ones that I've listened to most, I've listened to this flipping podcast, I've listened to the pinball podcast, I've listened to Slam Tilt, I've listened to Coast to Coast, and certainly others.
00:11:47
Speaker
Like all of those, it's so great to take everybody's take because it reinforces how many different ways there are to contribute to this hobby.
00:11:58
Speaker
And it's a good way to contribute to the hobby as well.
00:12:01
Speaker
But going back to what you were saying, man, no one does get paid for this.
00:12:04
Speaker
When I did radio DJ, I was just the night DJ.
00:12:07
Speaker
I was a teenager in high school.
00:12:09
Speaker
I was stoked to even have a job.
00:12:10
Speaker
And now I was the cool kid in school because I was on the radio.
00:12:14
Speaker
Well, one morning, my boss, who was the morning DJ along with another gentleman, they invited me in to see what their show was all about.
00:12:22
Speaker
And their show started about 6 o'clock in the morning.
00:12:24
Speaker
So I thought that meant, oh, we'll get in at 6.
00:12:28
Speaker
BS and on the microphone.
00:12:31
Speaker
He they were there before me and I got there at four in the morning.
00:12:35
Speaker
They were printing off papers.
00:12:37
Speaker
They were highlighting stuff.
00:12:39
Speaker
They were talking about this, talking about that.
00:12:40
Speaker
They want to know what they should be covering, what they shouldn't be covering.
00:12:43
Speaker
This was just a typical Tuesday morning.
00:12:45
Speaker
And this does go back to that's their daytime job.
00:12:48
Speaker
That's what they have to do.
00:12:50
Speaker
And so they're getting paid to do it.
00:12:51
Speaker
So it's not as hard to do when you're actually making money at.
00:12:54
Speaker
Now these guys like Head to Head, Special One Lit, just your weekly podcast This Week in Pinball, they don't get paid to do this.
00:13:03
Speaker
And a lot of them spend most of their free time looking for information to bring to the forefront.
00:13:08
Speaker
And it's very impressive.
00:13:09
Speaker
I really take my hat off to those guys.
00:13:12
Speaker
But going back to what I was talking about with This Week in Pinball, I know you didn't listen to this episode, but I was listening to This Week in Pinball.
00:13:19
Speaker
Well, I haven't listened to it.
00:13:20
Speaker
I've been out of town, so I've been a little busy.
00:13:22
Speaker
I need to catch up.
00:13:24
Speaker
So last week, April 1st, I put on the episode.
00:13:27
Speaker
It says that Dennis Creasel and Ken Cromwell for Session 1 Lit is on the episode.
00:13:33
Speaker
And I figured they're just with Zach.
00:13:34
Speaker
And they started off, and they're like, by the way, Jeff Patterson said that โ
00:13:39
Speaker
Zach's not as dedicated to this job as he should be because he's got other commitments.
00:13:44
Speaker
So they've kicked him off.
00:13:45
Speaker
And now Dennis and Ken are now the official hosts.
00:13:50
Speaker
They're quitting Eclectic Gamers.
00:13:52
Speaker
They're quitting Special One Lit.
00:13:54
Speaker
And I'm kind of mind blown at this point because it kind of made sense because Dennis and Ken, they were kind of one of the staple co-hosts with Zach.
00:14:01
Speaker
So I'm like, okay, that makes sense.
00:14:03
Speaker
The thing, though, the thing, though, that threw it
00:14:05
Speaker
that I knew it was a joke by time I got to the end of the episode was the fact that Dennis was laying it on so thick.
00:14:14
Speaker
He was just on the hate for Zach.
00:14:17
Speaker
Not that he was hating Zach, but just like Dennis does not like the market trend segment and he's just going off about it.
00:14:24
Speaker
And he's going off by like so long sucker.
00:14:27
Speaker
You know what I'm saying?
00:14:27
Speaker
It just was like it was so too much that it was like, right, this can't be real.
00:14:33
Speaker
Well, the awesome part is... You texted me, and I told you, I said, you know this is April 1st, right?
00:14:38
Speaker
Is this really what's going on?
00:14:42
Speaker
Well, and what was crazy, though, too, is that they incorporate two other podcasts.
00:14:46
Speaker
They actually, Special One Lit released an episode that day with Ken Cromwell and the gentleman from Slap Save, if I remember correctly.
Pinball Enthusiast Community
00:14:56
Speaker
And they said they were going to do their new podcast.
00:14:58
Speaker
And then Zach Many ended up going to Slap Save
00:15:02
Speaker
along with Jason Fowler, if I remember correctly.
00:15:04
Speaker
And they did their own episode too.
00:15:06
Speaker
So it was really impressive.
00:15:08
Speaker
I mean, step back for a second.
00:15:10
Speaker
These guys are all doing this as a hobby and they coordinate.
00:15:14
Speaker
It's hard to get two guys together, but they coordinated six guys for a joke.
00:15:20
Speaker
And it was fantastic.
00:15:21
Speaker
It was, I knew it was a joke, but I just thought it was wonderful.
00:15:24
Speaker
It's crazy to see someone do that.
00:15:26
Speaker
And I really appreciate the amount of work that went into that.
00:15:29
Speaker
If you guys haven't checked it out, I highly recommend you go check out all three episodes because it was just great.
00:15:35
Speaker
It kind of boggles the mind how much energy that they did for their passion project.
00:15:39
Speaker
And certainly it's great that in this small little corner hobby, we have such motivated people to really bring great content for free.
00:15:52
Speaker
Also, since we've last recorded, we listened to Head to Head and Jeff Riviera, our good friend from the Pinball Podcast, was down there.
00:16:02
Speaker
Riviera sounds like he's part of a Vegas show, a strip show.
00:16:08
Speaker
No, he's actually part of a mariachi band.
00:16:12
Speaker
I've got a kid on my team, and that's how he pronounces it.
00:16:16
Speaker
Sorry, I'm a soccer coach on top.
00:16:20
Speaker
His last name, he said it's spelled just the same way as Jeff.
00:16:24
Speaker
He adds an I in there, huh?
00:16:26
Speaker
The way that, well, they're Hispanic, I guess.
00:16:29
Speaker
So he says they say it that way.
00:16:33
Speaker
I'm sure Jeff, I'm sure that's the origin of Jeff's name too.
00:16:37
Speaker
You know, so Jeff Rivera of the pinball podcast went on with Martin and I thought it was a really good episode.
00:16:44
Speaker
Yeah, it was great.
00:16:44
Speaker
Those guys did great.
00:16:46
Speaker
Jeff's a great podcaster.
00:16:47
Speaker
I've always loved listening to him and, and meeting him in person.
00:16:50
Speaker
He's just as genuine in person.
00:16:52
Speaker
And just like you said, we, well, I got a text from someone who was at the Texas Pinball Festival, one of our Utah friends, and he sent a picture with him and Martin and said Martin was going to be in town in Utah for business right after the Texas Pinball Festival.
00:17:13
Speaker
And so you got a hold of him and I, you know, I messaged him too and you messaged him and I said, hey,
00:17:18
Speaker
We love to get together.
00:17:20
Speaker
You can work it into your schedule.
00:17:22
Speaker
And we actually were able to coordinate and go to one of the local pubs out here that run pinball.
00:17:31
Speaker
It's kind of a hipster pub that's run by one of the main guys, actually the guy who was on our podcast, I think episode three or four, Dan.
00:17:41
Speaker
And he has games there with Mike Lund, who was our state champ.
00:17:46
Speaker
And it was really great to meet up with Martin and actually meet with him and just talk to him about basically what he does and what he does in pinball for the land down under.
00:17:58
Speaker
So that was great.
00:18:00
Speaker
Well, and the funny part about all that, too, is when I was texting Martin, I said, where are you located at?
00:18:04
Speaker
Because I just automatically assume it's Salt Lake because with business venture, the biggest business
00:18:10
Speaker
business capital is between Provo, Utah and Salt Lake.
00:18:14
Speaker
It's going to be in that area.
00:18:16
Speaker
So when he said Ogden, Utah, and I said, well, if you'll commit, I will drive up there.
00:18:21
Speaker
And he's like, okay, whatever.
00:18:22
Speaker
And I'm like, but you have to meet me in Salt Lake because Ogden is four hours from here.
00:18:29
Speaker
If I can get him to come down to Salt Lake, I'll do it.
00:18:31
Speaker
So he's like, sure, whatever.
00:18:32
Speaker
So it was funny because I showed up there that night.
00:18:35
Speaker
We were having fun.
00:18:37
Speaker
And at the end of the thing, I'm like, I got to get going.
00:18:39
Speaker
And Martin's like, why, dude?
00:18:40
Speaker
It's like 9 o'clock, 930.
00:18:41
Speaker
I said, I got to make the travel home.
00:18:44
Speaker
And he's like, you seriously drove three hours out here for me?
00:18:46
Speaker
And I'm like, yeah, dude.
00:18:48
Speaker
Like, I wanted to meet you.
00:18:50
Speaker
I'm fanboying a little bit.
00:18:52
Speaker
I mean, that's the reason we got into this is because I really appreciate what Head to Head did for the podcasting scene.
00:18:58
Speaker
I think they really elevated to a higher level when it came to their product.
00:19:02
Speaker
And so it's funny because everyone always teases the like,
00:19:05
Speaker
give Martin a hug at Texas pinball festival.
00:19:08
Speaker
Cause he hates them.
00:19:09
Speaker
And when Martin's like, you seriously drove three hours that deserves a hug.
00:19:13
Speaker
So I thought it was really funny that Martin had to hug me because he didn't hug you.
00:19:18
Speaker
He gave you a kiss on the cheek.
00:19:21
Speaker
He did give me, I, yeah, it says it in the Bible.
00:19:24
Speaker
Greet everyone with a kiss.
00:19:28
Speaker
Any, it was hilarious.
00:19:32
Speaker
Yeah, he was great.
00:19:33
Speaker
He was, it was great to talk to him.
00:19:35
Speaker
So, yeah, and it was, it was really great talking to him and he, he literally is genuine, is as genuine in person as he comes across in the podcast.
00:19:43
Speaker
I mean, he's just a fun guy that he's a guy that you want to hang out with.
00:19:48
Speaker
And there's a reason why, uh, since, uh, Ryan C has pulled back a little bit from the podcast that he's had no problem getting other people on the podcast.
00:19:57
Speaker
And by the way, we are going to be special guests on the podcast this Friday night.
00:20:03
Speaker
But for the Monday night episode.
00:20:05
Speaker
And so and the last episode that he did, I messaged him after and I said, that was hilarious.
00:20:12
Speaker
I said, you know, crazy Levi from New York, I said, is my my new spirit animal.
00:20:18
Speaker
He's a guy I'd love to just hang out with.
00:20:20
Speaker
And he laughed and he said, yeah, it took me four hours to edit that episode.
00:20:24
Speaker
And again, mind blown.
00:20:26
Speaker
I said, wow, four hours.
00:20:28
Speaker
You're putting that much effort into putting a quality product for free.
00:20:35
Speaker
Again, just think about that.
00:20:38
Speaker
That's why in my book, Head to Head, Hands Down, and then every other podcast.
00:20:45
Speaker
And then there's a few other levels and there's us.
00:20:50
Speaker
But they're not doing it for free.
00:20:51
Speaker
They're doing it out of the money of their own.
00:20:54
Speaker
They're not doing it for free.
00:20:56
Speaker
They are actually paying to do this.
00:20:59
Speaker
I didn't know that until we got two, three episodes in and we, we've been able to do it on the free for that long.
00:21:04
Speaker
The thing is, is I'm on the side.
00:21:07
Speaker
So I have a mixing board.
00:21:08
Speaker
I have a microphone.
00:21:09
Speaker
It's just something I own.
00:21:11
Speaker
So it wasn't an expense for me to actually have a set up.
00:21:15
Speaker
But the thing is, is I totally space.
00:21:19
Speaker
Music files or sound files, whatever you want to call these take up space and you've got to pay for a place to host those.
Market Competition and Pricing
00:21:27
Speaker
And so it just it's funny because like Jeff with pinball podcast, I'm like, how much do you spend on your podcast stuff?
00:21:34
Speaker
And he's like, dude, I stopped keeping.
00:21:36
Speaker
He's like, it's, you do it for the love of it.
00:21:38
Speaker
So it's just something else.
00:21:40
Speaker
So, and us pinball people are all used to spending good money.
00:21:46
Speaker
Oh, Hey, speaking of that, Hey, I didn't even tell you.
00:21:48
Speaker
So I, um, on my wizard of Oz, I, I ordered the, uh, the flying monkey mod.
00:21:55
Speaker
Did I tell you about this?
00:21:58
Speaker
Yeah, I remember messaging you to get it.
00:22:01
Speaker
Yeah, no, so I just barely got it, and I looked at it, and I said, wow, this is amazing, and it's really cool, and I need to put it in.
00:22:10
Speaker
By the way, it is fantastic.
00:22:13
Speaker
If you have a Wizard of Oz and you can get a hold of it, that and the Red Smok Witch mod, which, by the way, I have both of them, and I haven't got around to putting them in just because I have not had time, and I'm not the most tech-savvy person.
00:22:25
Speaker
Of course, I also looked at that and I said, huh, not even thinking about this, but that cost me $200.
00:22:31
Speaker
Yes, in the grand scheme of things for the entire machine, that's really not much.
00:22:35
Speaker
But I thought, wow, that is really a passion project to be able to say, yes, I want a flying monkey that takes the ball up as opposed to the screenshot plastic monkey that's taking it up.
00:22:44
Speaker
And that was worth it to me.
00:22:45
Speaker
And I don't regret paying it one bit, but absolutely.
00:22:50
Speaker
You just find ways of spending money and enjoying it in this hobby.
00:22:54
Speaker
Well, at least your machine can do that because, you know, Yellowbrook Road, we got rid of the monkey.
00:23:00
Speaker
Anywho, let's go on that.
00:23:02
Speaker
Okay, by the way, that being said, I have heard the Yellow Brick Road is fantastic in person.
00:23:13
Speaker
And I'm sure they'll find at least 200 buyers for that.
00:23:16
Speaker
And I hope they sell 1,000 of them because I really like having at least a plausible competition for Stern.
00:23:28
Speaker
The numbers don't really generate that.
00:23:31
Speaker
And I actually put a little post up for the few people that are following us right now.
00:23:36
Speaker
But I did say, hey, sounds like they're releasing Wonka this Friday.
00:23:42
Speaker
Is this really the time when JJP can compete with Stern for a release?
00:23:51
Speaker
And what I'm saying is that if they release Wonka,
00:23:54
Speaker
are they going to be able to sell the three to 4,000 that Stern is selling?
00:23:58
Speaker
Because, you know, when, when you add all the Stern stuff together, I mean, having in Stern's releasing for a year, if they release one a year and be able to do those numbers, at least you have some sort of a competition.
00:24:12
Speaker
Like right now we have a theoretical competition because JJP people forget they've only released four games.
00:24:20
Speaker
And they've been out since 2012, if I remember correctly.
00:24:23
Speaker
So in seven years, they've released four games.
00:24:25
Speaker
And again, I love it.
00:24:27
Speaker
I love that they have elevated the game.
00:24:30
Speaker
You look at once JJP jumped into the market and how much Stern has really elevated their game from World Poker Tour to
00:24:41
Speaker
That is, it is light years ahead of that.
00:24:44
Speaker
Well, what I find interesting about this whole situation is I got thinking about this today because you hear Wonka, you start asking what's the price going to be.
00:24:54
Speaker
Okay, well, you kind of jumped, you kind of, you actually, you buried the lead.
00:25:02
Speaker
So we haven't even talked about, well, we haven't even talked about that Wonka is likely the title that's going to be released.
00:25:08
Speaker
Like all signs point to it.
00:25:14
Speaker
Well, let me, let me roll this back just two seconds.
00:25:16
Speaker
So I'm like, how much is this going to cost?
00:25:18
Speaker
And he said, if we follow pirates, it'll be 8,500.
00:25:22
Speaker
The, that's the standard.
00:25:24
Speaker
The LE will be the 95%.
00:25:26
Speaker
And then the collector's edition is 12, 12, five, but those aren't set in stone.
00:25:30
Speaker
He cannot confirm nor deny.
00:25:32
Speaker
That's what it's going to be.
00:25:33
Speaker
Cause you know how it is.
00:25:35
Speaker
Well, if you get thinking about it, how much is an LA through Stern?
00:25:39
Speaker
Yeah, no, an LA through Stern is 9,000.
00:25:43
Speaker
Which is crazy to me because pretty much JJP's base model is the price of Stern's high end model.
00:25:51
Speaker
Granted, you take a couple out like Beatles and Batman 66, but yeah,
00:25:55
Speaker
It's crazy to me that you can tell JJP is going for the home market.
00:26:01
Speaker
There's not very many JJP games here in Utah.
00:26:04
Speaker
I don't know outside of Utah if there are.
00:26:06
Speaker
I know of a dialed in on location, if it's still there, and I know of, I think, maybe two Pirates on location, and that's it.
00:26:13
Speaker
Yeah, I know some, and I think there are some enthusiasts.
00:26:16
Speaker
Now, okay, let's be honest, at least even in Utah and other markets, I guess you can take out some of the hot markets like Seattle and Portland and New York and maybe Chicago.
00:26:31
Speaker
you probably have one to two pinball locations.
00:26:37
Speaker
And even when you're talking about like the biggest tournament in the year, you're talking about Pinbird.
00:26:41
Speaker
Yes, it's sold out.
00:26:42
Speaker
It's sold out in seconds, right?
00:26:45
Speaker
That's still, you know, that's still only a thousand spots nationwide.
00:26:52
Speaker
And so it does provide kind of a wake-up call as to how niche the sport really is.
00:26:57
Speaker
And well, okay, if you want to call it a sport, the gaming, the hobby, it really is.
00:27:03
Speaker
And that even in some of these hotbeds like New York and Seattle where the population is so much higher, they still kind of know each other.
00:27:14
Speaker
So... Well, and here's the other thing, though, too.
00:27:16
Speaker
Look at the IFPA numbers.
00:27:19
Speaker
There are almost 70,000 people registered for tournament.
00:27:22
Speaker
Not everyone plays tournament.
00:27:24
Speaker
Not everyone is in tournaments.
00:27:25
Speaker
It's how many people have actually played in a tournament.
00:27:28
Speaker
But really when you start taking out the people who have played one to two, I would bet when you talk about the people who have played five or more tournaments โ
00:27:37
Speaker
that number is going to start contracting seriously.
00:27:40
Speaker
Now, I still think that's a good thing because what it's showing is that how many casual people have actually played in an IFPA event.
00:27:50
Speaker
You can look at it both ways, right?
00:27:52
Speaker
Who's going to be coming weekly to all these things?
00:27:55
Speaker
But who's even come at all?
00:27:58
Speaker
That's still pretty impressive, but it's still pretty a niche hobby.
00:28:06
Speaker
Well, sure, we talk about the two hot topics then since we've already kind of been dancing around anyway.
00:28:12
Speaker
What do you want to talk about first?
Black Knight Game Analysis
00:28:14
Speaker
Let's talk about Black Knight first.
00:28:17
Speaker
So it was teased April 2nd, so the day after April Fool's.
00:28:22
Speaker
And then they said that they were going to show it off.
00:28:26
Speaker
Today's Wednesday.
00:28:27
Speaker
We'll probably put this out on Friday or something.
00:28:29
Speaker
They showed it off last night, Tuesday.
00:28:31
Speaker
Jack was fantastic on getting it up online into YouTube pretty quick.
00:28:36
Speaker
It was like six minutes or seven minutes after they actually aired it, if I remember correctly.
00:28:42
Speaker
Anywho, in perfect stern fashion, we were in the factory.
00:28:48
Speaker
I don't know whose Black Knights those were.
00:28:50
Speaker
I don't know if the Black Knight and the Black Knight 2000, they might be Steve's personal ones.
00:28:55
Speaker
I thought that was cool.
00:28:56
Speaker
Cool is their backdrop.
00:28:58
Speaker
And they started off on the Pro.
00:29:00
Speaker
You know, the artwork looks fantastic.
00:29:02
Speaker
I know that we've really talked about Zombie Yeti and Christopher Franchi these last couple of games, but it's good to see that there's still other talent that is available as well that can do just as good as those.
00:29:16
Speaker
Joshua Clay helped out a lot, and I'm trying to think who the main guy was.
00:29:20
Speaker
Because Joshua Clay is actually a fairly young, newer artist.
00:29:24
Speaker
He was originally a tattoo artist and is now...
00:29:29
Speaker
working at Stern doing their artwork.
00:29:31
Speaker
Um, and I'm, he was actually on the stream last night.
00:29:35
Speaker
Um, but let me, if you give me a second, I'll look up who the other artist is.
00:29:40
Speaker
Cause I haven't a clue.
00:29:43
Speaker
This is live, live baby live.
00:29:48
Speaker
So Kevin O'Connor, who's done, um, kiss walking dead Avengers.
00:29:53
Speaker
He's, he's been around for a while, but, um,
00:29:57
Speaker
Yeah, and I think the artwork looks fantastic.
00:30:00
Speaker
The cut scenes and the stuff on the actual LCD look really good.
00:30:06
Speaker
They almost remind me of a video game between defeating the lynch lords, the sandworms, the stuff like that.
00:30:14
Speaker
I actually like that direction.
00:30:16
Speaker
I was kind of confused.
00:30:18
Speaker
I don't know if they did explain it.
00:30:19
Speaker
I was kind of in and out, and I've replayed it a couple times.
00:30:22
Speaker
But on the side of the LCD, it's kind of got the same thing as Iron Maiden had with its Super Pops, Super Ramps, stuff like that.
00:30:30
Speaker
But it was kind of all grayed out, and I didn't see anything really going on with it.
00:30:38
Speaker
My only complaint is it is a Black Knight game, and I thought they would kind of steer away from this.
00:30:43
Speaker
But on the premium and on the LE, it is a very right flipper dominated game.
00:30:51
Speaker
All those shots to get up on the upper play field are on the left side of the play field.
00:30:56
Speaker
And even when you start off a shot on the LE, it goes directly onto that upper play field, just like any of the Black Knight.
00:31:03
Speaker
But Keith Allen was playing on the premium, and he had two balls cradled or a ball cradled on the left, and he was just destroying it with the right flipper.
00:31:13
Speaker
He'd fall off the top play field and shoot it right back up there.
00:31:17
Speaker
And it kind of got boring to watch for a little bit.
00:31:19
Speaker
Okay, well, it's your key though when you can boss any game around.
00:31:25
Speaker
I know Raymond Davidson's great.
00:31:26
Speaker
He's, he's amazing.
00:31:27
Speaker
He's the, he's the best active player.
00:31:30
Speaker
Um, Keith is kind of in that, Hey, I've been there, done that, but he can still come in and crush it when he wants to.
00:31:37
Speaker
And so I think overall the game looks fantastic.
00:31:40
Speaker
Uh, I love the music.
00:31:42
Speaker
The problem is, is when you've got four people playing the same game, the music started to loop a lot.
00:31:47
Speaker
You were hearing the same intro, which is fine.
00:31:51
Speaker
the music did change up as you got into different modes.
00:31:54
Speaker
But I think the problem is, is I've heard that song so many times now with it being a remake, it's already kind of starting to get a little bit old.
00:32:02
Speaker
So I don't know if they will add more music on, but I, the funny part to me is, is everyone's like, this is the most metal pin ever.
00:32:10
Speaker
This is more metal than iron maiden.
00:32:12
Speaker
And I grew, I grew up through the two thousands.
00:32:14
Speaker
I graduated in 05 and,
00:32:18
Speaker
This metal music is my punk rock music.
00:32:22
Speaker
It's funny because like my favorite band is some 41.
00:32:25
Speaker
And if you've never listened to them, check out, check out their album Chuck, because it sounds a lot like music.
00:32:33
Speaker
Well, Anthrax is very, it is Scott Ian from Anthrax who does all the guitar riffs, but yeah, it's yeah.
00:32:40
Speaker
And it's, it certainly feels like a guy who,
00:32:43
Speaker
you know, ramping on a guitar and just putting a whole bunch of licks down.
00:32:47
Speaker
Oh, and I love it.
00:32:48
Speaker
I love the flamethrowing, whatever he is, like a skeleton zombie soldier, whatever guy.
00:32:54
Speaker
Robertson did the voice for him and it's just hilarious every time it pops up just you know we're cooking with gas now just I don't know the game looks fantastic actually Keto's here in Utah is getting theirs on Monday or Tuesday so we should be seeing the pro very much yeah I'm actually really excited to see that I think it'll be really great I am too I might be one of the only people because this is one of the one games where they said that the premium
00:33:20
Speaker
And the LE are outselling the Pro.
00:33:23
Speaker
They're having no problem selling the Premium.
00:33:26
Speaker
But in my opinion, I actually enjoy the Pro more than the Premium.
00:33:29
Speaker
I haven't had my hands on them.
00:33:30
Speaker
I'm really curious.
00:33:31
Speaker
I'm really curious because I'm relatively new to pinball.
00:33:38
Speaker
I bought First Game Simpsons Pinball Party.
00:33:41
Speaker
I bought it in 2013 or 2014.
00:33:46
Speaker
And just kind of on a whim, I really had no idea about pinball.
00:33:49
Speaker
Again, I grew up in the 80s.
00:33:53
Speaker
born in the 70s, grew up in the 80s, where you'd go to the arcade and basically, just like in Special When Lit, it talks about the pinballs were just in the corner and nobody was playing because that was the era of Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, all those things that were, wow, you can do this on a computer screen or a TV screen?
00:34:17
Speaker
But the people who have that connection with the Black Knight,
00:34:21
Speaker
I think are the ones who, you know, it's their grail pin.
00:34:24
Speaker
They want the Black Knight or they want the Black Knight 2000 because that's the pin they have the emotional connection with.
00:34:31
Speaker
I don't really have that.
00:34:32
Speaker
And so when I look at it, I always thought, okay, well, this is a historical pin, but really it was before the glory days of the 90s.
00:34:41
Speaker
There was the first renaissance in the 90s, and then there's the nouveau renaissance now that is just blowing up.
00:34:51
Speaker
It doesn't have the same feel that Black Knight does.
00:34:55
Speaker
It's a very specific feel type of game.
00:34:59
Speaker
And so the people who really have that connection, I think you have to have the premium, like there's no, or the premium play field or the LE.
00:35:08
Speaker
There's no other question because that is what it is.
00:35:11
Speaker
You're channeling that.
00:35:12
Speaker
However, when I look at it, it's the same way.
00:35:15
Speaker
I kind of look at it and say, man, it's,
00:35:19
Speaker
It's kind of samey as the Black Knight, which is why I don't get much of a feel for it.
00:35:25
Speaker
Yeah, you get up to the upper playfield, which is cool, and there's the right upper flipper that is really dominated by it.
00:35:34
Speaker
But then, I don't know, it just doesn't seem as much as a full playfield type game.
00:35:42
Speaker
It seems like it's an upper third play field type game.
00:35:45
Speaker
And so I'm really interested to see how that pro is going to play because I kind of suspect that I'm going to enjoy the pro more.
00:35:54
Speaker
See, that's the thing I was really liking about the video.
00:35:56
Speaker
I watched both of them.
00:35:59
Speaker
I've watched the pro more than I have the premium, but the pro almost seemed more flowing.
00:36:03
Speaker
More Steve Ritchie.
00:36:06
Speaker
More of a Spider-Man type feel.
00:36:08
Speaker
More of a Star Trek type feel.
00:36:11
Speaker
But I think he's less constrained by that upper play field.
00:36:16
Speaker
Now, I will say the one thing I do love about this is the upper play field
00:36:21
Speaker
it's kind of brilliant for them to put that translucent playfield on there because it still allows them to use the whole playfield.
00:36:32
Speaker
Because that's always been the big complaint with some of these upper playfields, right?
00:36:37
Speaker
The upper playfield in Game of Thrones is that it, man, it really dominates the field and it really detracts from the entire lower playfield anyway.
00:36:47
Speaker
And I always felt that way with...
00:36:49
Speaker
with the Black Knight or the Black Knight 2000, I always felt like, okay, great, but it basically makes the lower playfield feel fairly useless.
00:36:58
Speaker
That all you were trying to do was get it back up to the upper playfield.
00:37:02
Speaker
And so the fact that they made the translucent playfield, it allows them to use much more of it.
00:37:09
Speaker
Well, that's what's funny to me is like, I felt like it's now vice versa.
00:37:13
Speaker
I feel like the upper play field.
00:37:15
Speaker
It's cool that you got the physical ball locks, but in other words, I feel like it's kind of, it feels redundant.
00:37:21
Speaker
It feels, but, but I do feel it's, it feels very samey with black night and black night 2000.
00:37:30
Speaker
And I think if you have that emotional connection, then that's the way to go.
00:37:33
Speaker
Oh, I totally agree.
00:37:35
Speaker
Well, and it brings a lot more strategy into the game.
00:37:42
Speaker
The other thing they were talking about was the lower play field.
00:37:45
Speaker
If you can get the multi-ball started there and then go to the upper play field and get the multi-ball started there, you can get a six-ball multi-ball going.
00:37:56
Speaker
So you've got the lower upper play field multi-ball all of a sudden going crazy.
00:38:00
Speaker
So that could be really cool to see.
00:38:03
Speaker
There was one other thing on there that really impressed me because it was funny as I was watching it, I was thinking, how cool would it be that you do a throwback inside the game to the old games?
00:38:14
Speaker
And apparently if you spell knight and then you shoot the left, it's not the far left shot, which goes into a vertical up kicker.
00:38:23
Speaker
It starts a mode that is retro mode.
00:38:27
Speaker
It's just Black Knight screen and it plays the music.
00:38:30
Speaker
It almost sounds like a mesh up between the original Black Knight and the 2000.
00:38:34
Speaker
And you can just blow up the score that way.
00:38:37
Speaker
And that's perfect because that's exactly what this game needs.
00:38:42
Speaker
It needs to be kind of a modern take on a retro game with a throwback to the retro feel.
00:38:50
Speaker
And I think Tim Balls is killing it.
00:38:53
Speaker
And here's the thing.
00:38:55
Speaker
When you first start, when they first rebuild these, it always worries me because everyone always bashes the code.
Innovations in Game Design
00:39:02
Speaker
Dude, Guardians of the Galaxy sucked when it first came out, but now everyone's ranting or raving about it.
00:39:07
Speaker
Yeah, it's a year later, year and a half later, but the code's in such a nice place now.
00:39:12
Speaker
I actually love Guardians.
00:39:13
Speaker
If I didn't have an Iron Man, I would buy a Guardians because it's the perfect game for me.
00:39:19
Speaker
Yeah, it's a perfect game for me.
00:39:20
Speaker
I have young kids, and so it's very similar to Metallica, and
00:39:24
Speaker
Really, my kids are eight, five, and four.
00:39:27
Speaker
And so I just, it's not something, it's not a game that I would personally have.
00:39:32
Speaker
It's a great game.
00:39:34
Speaker
But it's just not for my home market.
00:39:38
Speaker
But Guardians has a very similar feel to, you know, it's been said halfway between Metallica and Iron Man.
00:39:45
Speaker
And I have a great Iron Man.
00:39:47
Speaker
I love playing my Iron Man.
00:39:48
Speaker
So if I didn't have my Iron Man,
00:39:50
Speaker
I would absolutely go buy Guardians of the Galaxy.
00:39:53
Speaker
Well, and that's the thing with Black Knight.
00:39:55
Speaker
I'm just really loving what the code's.
00:39:56
Speaker
Like, even though the code's probably not complete at this point, Tim Ball's vision for this game is looking really, really good.
00:40:04
Speaker
I love Tim's passion.
00:40:06
Speaker
When he talks about it, it's exactly what you want in a hobby like this, is you want a high-level... Okay, it's really embarrassing...
00:40:19
Speaker
what Stern has right now.
00:40:20
Speaker
And they have Keith Elwin, basically the best player of his generation and likely all time right now, just being able to make Iron Maiden and being able to say, okay, this is fun, but this is also what tournament players want.
00:40:39
Speaker
And then you have Tim Sexton, who is young, he's 25, and he's coming into the scene with a fresh perspective.
00:40:46
Speaker
So you have all these legacy designers with Steve Ritchie, and you have all these great, I guess, legacy programmers.
00:40:59
Speaker
You have Lonnie Ropp, and obviously Lyman Sheets, and I'm blanking on the other guy's name.
00:41:06
Speaker
Oh, he just did Monsters.
00:41:15
Speaker
And so it's, you know, it's 10 o'clock here.
00:41:17
Speaker
So I'm getting tired.
00:41:19
Speaker
But yes, all of them are great, but they've all been in the industry for 30 years.
00:41:25
Speaker
And so it's great to see a new take of, of what Tim Saxon's doing.
00:41:29
Speaker
And also with, with what Keith Elwin's doing.
00:41:33
Speaker
I mean, it just, it freshens things up.
00:41:37
Speaker
It just, you know, it, it, it, obviously it,
00:41:40
Speaker
The Beatles and the Rolling Stones are great bands, but you need those newer bands that are coming out to kind of keep things pushing forward so they don't just keep repeating.
00:41:50
Speaker
Well, and let's rewind the clocks a year and a half ago before Iron Maiden.
00:41:54
Speaker
I mean, the biggest complaint I was hearing, you had Guardians had just come out.
00:42:00
Speaker
Aerosmith was out.
00:42:03
Speaker
The Ghostbusters, which was the dumpster fire at that point, everyone was throwing a fit about the code on that one, which they still are.
00:42:09
Speaker
Sorry, don't know what to tell you.
00:42:12
Speaker
And I'm in Batman 66 Batman 66 came out and there was no code to it.
00:42:18
Speaker
And everyone's complaining that they need to start buying up coders.
00:42:22
Speaker
The only guy that knows who's doing this job down there is Lyman Sheets.
00:42:25
Speaker
You can tell the difference between a Lyman Sheets game like Walking Dead.
00:42:28
Speaker
versus whatever the other game it was.
00:42:31
Speaker
And sorry, it just hit me.
00:42:39
Speaker
I was actually, while you were talking, I was trying to look it up to figure out who it was.
00:42:41
Speaker
So a year and a half ago, people were complaining, yeah, the artwork's caught up.
00:42:46
Speaker
The design's caught up.
00:42:48
Speaker
the code now needs to catch up.
00:42:50
Speaker
Well, here we are, year and a half later, Tim Ball's 25 years old, killing it.
00:42:55
Speaker
And you can see the vision he has.
00:42:58
Speaker
And Lyman's killing it with, I mean, Batman 66, the code on that is fantastic now.
00:43:03
Speaker
Dwight, I think, did good on monsters.
00:43:05
Speaker
I don't know why everyone's bashing as hard as they are, because we're buying Monster Bash.
00:43:10
Speaker
It's pretty much the same code.
00:43:13
Speaker
And maybe that's a problem.
00:43:14
Speaker
It's been 20 years.
00:43:16
Speaker
You know, here's the challenge.
00:43:19
Speaker
The one thing Dwight does, which I do love, is that people always say, hey, we want innovation in pinball.
00:43:26
Speaker
Well, he's trying that.
00:43:27
Speaker
He's trying to say he has he comes out with a super complicated game with Star Wars, which I'll admit is more complicated than my brain can handle.
00:43:36
Speaker
I thought Star Wars was a fun game.
00:43:39
Speaker
But it wasn't my favorite.
00:43:41
Speaker
I didn't want to buy it in the end.
00:43:44
Speaker
But I thought that he certainly was trying to push beyond what he knew.
00:43:50
Speaker
everybody normally does.
00:43:51
Speaker
And he's like, Hey, well, let's try it this way.
00:43:53
Speaker
And so if you can fault for fault, anybody, then you can say, Hey, he tried too hard for something or he tried to do something.
00:44:01
Speaker
And it, it wasn't a, it wasn't a home run.
00:44:05
Speaker
But he, he hasn't struck out on anything.
00:44:08
Speaker
I would say that he still does a solid game.
00:44:10
Speaker
Here's the other thing too.
00:44:11
Speaker
Munsters has been out for three months.
00:44:13
Speaker
Why are we crucifying the man for three months worth of code?
00:44:17
Speaker
When Guardians came out and there was pretty much no code or Batman 66 and there was no code.
00:44:22
Speaker
I mean, give it a year.
00:44:24
Speaker
I mean, well, there's always a there's always a once people start playing the game, there tends to be a reevaluation of what was going on.
00:44:35
Speaker
I mean, Iron Man was panned when it first came out.
00:44:40
Speaker
The Iron Man code isn't that deep.
00:44:43
Speaker
I'll put it this way.
00:44:44
Speaker
If I can get to the wizard mode, I guarantee it is either that I put the rubber bands of the outlines or straight down the middle or the code's not that deep.
00:44:55
Speaker
And really, the code's not that deep.
00:44:57
Speaker
It's still a fun game.
00:44:58
Speaker
It doesn't matter if there ends up being somewhere over the rainbow mode or
00:45:02
Speaker
There's no Valinor.
00:45:04
Speaker
It doesn't matter as long as it's still fun and you can still compete with it.
00:45:08
Speaker
And look at how deep something like Total Nuclear Annihilation is.
00:45:14
Speaker
It's the same thing.
00:45:15
Speaker
It's destroy nine reactors.
00:45:17
Speaker
But we all think it's fun.
00:45:20
Speaker
And so what are you shooting for?
00:45:22
Speaker
As long as it can be a tournament game, it can be a casual game, it can be a home game, it can be a location game.
00:45:30
Speaker
It seems impossible for someone to universally love something, unless, of course, it's Lyman Sheets because they're just going to say, oh, well, it's Lyman.
00:45:38
Speaker
He does amazing stuff.
00:45:40
Speaker
But when Walking Dead came out, no one liked it either.
00:45:45
Speaker
It just seems that there seems to be so much negativity toward a game when people just kind of forget that the whole point of this is to have a good time.
00:45:57
Speaker
So, well, now Walking Dead is now considered one of the best games because Lyman's Sheets has gotten the code where it is to nowadays.
00:46:06
Speaker
So I was going to say, yeah, let's move on because we're running out of time.
00:46:11
Speaker
I'm rambling tonight.
00:46:12
Speaker
But I will say, can I tell you one thing?
00:46:16
Speaker
So I was at work the other day and a guy comes up to me and he says, hey, you're into pinball, right?
00:46:24
Speaker
And I'm like, yeah.
00:46:26
Speaker
And he said, yeah.
00:46:27
Speaker
okay, because I'm looking at getting a pinball machine for my room.
00:46:31
Speaker
I'm like, okay, so tell me about your interest in pinball.
00:46:35
Speaker
He's like, well, I grew up and we had a Black Knight and a Black Knight 2000.
00:46:40
Speaker
And I said, have I had the game for you?
00:46:47
Speaker
I said, they just barely announced Black Knight and
00:46:50
Speaker
And I've been texting back and forth with him and he's really excited.
00:46:54
Speaker
I did caution him.
00:46:55
Speaker
I said, now, by the way, the rule number one, and this is what I learned from the Buffalo pinball guys, never buy a game you haven't played.
00:47:02
Speaker
So make sure you buy it, you play the game and see, okay, is this what I really want?
00:47:07
Speaker
But he is super excited for this, and I'm going to take him up to Kido's when they have the Black Knight and he can look at it.
00:47:13
Speaker
But, of course, he's a legacy guy.
00:47:15
Speaker
And so he's watched the streams, a nerd at heart like me, and he said, you've got to have the upper play field.
00:47:22
Speaker
I'm like, yeah, for someone like you, absolutely.
00:47:26
Speaker
Well, and he can get hooked up at Game & Con, so.
00:47:29
Speaker
Well, trust me, I've already talked to him about it, but I think that he still needs to play the game.
00:47:35
Speaker
It's his first purchase, but he was all for buying the LE and I told him about the topper.
00:47:42
Speaker
He's like, oh, you've got to have the topper.
00:47:45
Speaker
So let's talk about the next bombshell.
00:47:48
Speaker
Last Friday, it was revealed that Wonka โ it was revealed by a couple different sources that Wonka is coming out.
Willy Wonka Pinball Speculations
00:47:58
Speaker
I know that people are still saying โ
00:48:00
Speaker
Oh, who knows who the next, it's Wonka.
00:48:04
Speaker
They put out a golden tip.
00:48:06
Speaker
When distributors are now making official statements saying that they cannot take money for Wonka.
00:48:11
Speaker
We haven't confirmed, yeah.
00:48:12
Speaker
But we have an interest list for Wonka.
00:48:15
Speaker
Yeah, Wonka's coming.
00:48:16
Speaker
And by the way, this isn't just one distributor.
00:48:18
Speaker
This is all distributors are saying this.
00:48:21
Speaker
Like there was a, it's the same thing that happened when, um, star Wars came out.
00:48:26
Speaker
There was a super secret list where they said, Hey, by the way, the next Steve Ritchie game is coming out and everybody knew it was star Wars.
00:48:34
Speaker
And they said, if you want to be in the LE, then put your name on this list.
00:48:37
Speaker
We can't take money, but if you want the name of the list, then can I make an, can I extend an invitation for all the distributors out there right now, by the way?
00:48:49
Speaker
Jersey Jack, Stern, Spooky, I don't care who you are.
00:48:52
Speaker
If you want a second opinion, Scott and I are willing to come out and test these things.
00:48:57
Speaker
We don't care if I just sign an NDA.
00:48:59
Speaker
I'm like, you know, I have, seriously, I will adhere to the NDA.
00:49:04
Speaker
Just go, you know, I will be a test location for you.
00:49:07
Speaker
So if you want to send a pin to Highland, Utah, I am here for you.
00:49:11
Speaker
Yeah, I would love to get to put my hands on it first and then be like, yeah, I'll give you the check right now.
00:49:18
Speaker
and say, hey, I'm a buyer.
00:49:19
Speaker
I will absolutely be your advocate out here in the West.
00:49:26
Speaker
I am no respecter of pinball companies.
00:49:28
Speaker
I will take any pinball company.
00:49:30
Speaker
You can send me a test game and I will love it up.
00:49:36
Speaker
We're not shilling for anyone.
00:49:38
Speaker
We don't put one other company higher than the other.
00:49:41
Speaker
But hey, if you're looking for another opinion,
00:49:44
Speaker
I know Chicago Gaming has their warehouse in Reno.
00:49:47
Speaker
We're not that far away.
00:49:51
Speaker
Hey, you know what?
00:49:51
Speaker
I'll even go pick it up.
00:49:54
Speaker
But anywho, so Wonka gets unofficial, officially announced.
00:49:59
Speaker
Everyone's blowing their lids on this.
00:50:02
Speaker
This is still one thing I don't fully understand.
00:50:05
Speaker
I get if the theme is what you've always wanted.
00:50:09
Speaker
But I can't fathom the idea of saying, hey, here's my $12,500 based off of the title of a game.
00:50:19
Speaker
I can't fathom it.
00:50:22
Speaker
But rumors start flying left and right.
00:50:26
Speaker
Here's a question, though.
00:50:27
Speaker
Here's a question.
00:50:28
Speaker
So you have a couple things going for it.
00:50:31
Speaker
Would you be as excited about Wonka...
00:50:36
Speaker
if it were going to be a Kapow title or a Stern title or a JJP title?
00:50:47
Speaker
Willy Wonka I grew up on, weirdly enough.
00:50:49
Speaker
It came out in 1971.
00:50:51
Speaker
And my mom loved it, so we always watched it because that was her show growing up.
00:50:56
Speaker
So I think with it being โ I don't know.
00:50:59
Speaker
Me and you both think the alike, though.
00:51:00
Speaker
I have to have my hands on the game before I say yes.
00:51:04
Speaker
Okay, I will say though, so for me, it's theme specific.
00:51:10
Speaker
So when they say Wonka, who do you want it?
00:51:13
Speaker
I'm like, that seems like a JGP type game.
00:51:17
Speaker
When they say, when the rumors are flying out that they're going to do a Guns N' Roses game.
00:51:24
Speaker
I'm thinking, who should do this?
00:51:27
Speaker
And my attitude is, hands down, Stern.
00:51:29
Speaker
That should be a hands down Stern game.
00:51:32
Speaker
So I just don't see it being in JJP's wheelhouse.
00:51:37
Speaker
Maybe I'll be wrong.
00:51:39
Speaker
But I think that that feels more like their game.
00:51:42
Speaker
It's the same thing with a monster theme.
00:51:44
Speaker
That's a spooky theme.
00:51:46
Speaker
Rob Zombie coming out, and it's like, yeah, that's a spooky game.
00:51:50
Speaker
So I think that...
00:51:53
Speaker
At least the rumors are that Wonka with Pat Lawler, because again, Pat Lawler is kind of like Lime and Sheets where
00:52:02
Speaker
regardless of what he does as long as he's not too constrained by design.
00:52:08
Speaker
Then he'll put out an amazing game.
00:52:10
Speaker
And really his last game is his best game.
00:52:14
Speaker
One game of the year.
00:52:16
Speaker
People can talk about, you know, Adam's family and twilight zone.
00:52:20
Speaker
And I have a twilight zone.
00:52:21
Speaker
I have a great twilight zone.
00:52:23
Speaker
I still look at dialed in and say, no, that's better.
00:52:27
Speaker
It's a better game.
00:52:28
Speaker
Like people have an emotional connection.
00:52:30
Speaker
Just like I said about black night, people have an emotional connection with twilight zone and Adam's family because it's one of their games of their childhood.
00:52:39
Speaker
Uh, but dialed in is the best game he's done so far and it's not even close.
00:52:44
Speaker
And so what is he going to do for this one?
00:52:47
Speaker
Well, I think he'll do something pretty amazing.
00:52:50
Speaker
Have you heard any of the rumors out for this game yet?
00:52:55
Speaker
I've heard that it's basically... There's nothing crazy in it.
00:53:02
Speaker
I was going to say, spoiler alert, if you don't want to hear anything about...
00:53:06
Speaker
the possible spoilers of a game that hasn't even been officially confirmed yet skip the next minute or two and by the way this is josh and i speculating because we we are not at head-to-head level so we actually don't have people texting us and saying hey you want to see a picture of the field that is not us this is us two buddies talking about hey what do you think is going to happen i did get a message
00:53:30
Speaker
So here is the rumor.
00:53:33
Speaker
So see, that's the host, not the co-host.
00:53:35
Speaker
The co-host gets nothing but the host.
00:53:37
Speaker
The host is where it is.
00:53:39
Speaker
So here's the rumor.
00:53:39
Speaker
If you don't want to be spoiled because this comes out Friday morning and you'll see it Friday night, then skip a minute.
00:53:47
Speaker
Fast forward a minute.
00:53:48
Speaker
So here's the deal.
00:53:50
Speaker
Supposedly, the silver balls will be multicolored balls, and the game can recognize the different color of balls and will associate to different modes in the game.
00:54:01
Speaker
It will soften certain balls in certain areas of the game.
00:54:04
Speaker
Don't know how much truth there is to it, but the gentleman swears he has on good authority.
00:54:11
Speaker
That would be the everlasting gobstopper option.
00:54:15
Speaker
That's actually pretty cool.
00:54:18
Speaker
The one thing I wonder about that is...
00:54:22
Speaker
Okay, are they proprietary balls?
00:54:23
Speaker
Is this... You know, because people like shiny new balls they put in games.
00:54:28
Speaker
Are they going to be able to swap them out?
00:54:30
Speaker
Is this like the Powerball?
00:54:31
Speaker
Like, if you get the official Powerball and have to swap it out in your Twilight Zone, it's expensive.
00:54:38
Speaker
If you get the cheap knockoff ones, then you can do it, but...
00:54:41
Speaker
The real ceramic one, that's kind of expensive.
00:54:45
Speaker
I think it would be a metal ball just because you've got to catch the ball.
00:54:48
Speaker
Supposedly, it's going to catch these balls.
00:54:50
Speaker
Well, he loves magnets.
00:54:52
Speaker
He does love magnets.
00:54:53
Speaker
However, I mentioned Twilight Zone.
00:54:58
Speaker
Who designed Twilight Zone?
00:55:01
Speaker
Hey, I think that would be...
00:55:07
Speaker
It'd certainly be a fun gimmick.
00:55:11
Speaker
I'm really excited.
00:55:12
Speaker
I'm a huge Pat Lawler fan.
00:55:15
Speaker
I will say I tend to love games with a little more flow, which is why I have two Pat Lawler games.
00:55:22
Speaker
I have Twilight Zone, which I would say is an absolute hit.
00:55:26
Speaker
I have Shrek, which I appreciate for its difference, but that's certainly Pat Lawler being constrained by design.
00:55:33
Speaker
You can tell it's, it's, there's no bells and whistles that make it amazing.
00:55:39
Speaker
But I did hear that there are no gimmicks in this that tend to blow your mind away, but it's a, it's an amazing integration of it.
00:55:47
Speaker
And really, I think it's, you know,
00:55:51
Speaker
um jjp needs a hit they they've had i would say three great games i'd say wizard of oz is a great game i'd say dialed in is a great game i'd say uh pirates is a great game but the problem is if you're looking at the baseball analogy if you're trying to hit a grand slam every time it's hard yep
00:56:14
Speaker
You need to have a few base hits.
00:56:15
Speaker
And by the way, I do like what they tried to do with The Hobbit.
00:56:19
Speaker
I think it's so beautiful.
00:56:22
Speaker
I love the way it looks.
00:56:27
Speaker
It's not my favorite game that they have, but it's not a missed game in my opinion.
00:56:34
Speaker
I just think that would be probably more of a base hit.
00:56:39
Speaker
game that they have.
00:56:40
Speaker
It's certainly not a miss.
00:56:43
Speaker
But I think that people are hoping that this is going to be dialed in with a theme that they like.
00:56:56
Speaker
I've been singing the Pure Imagination song Wonka sings.
00:57:01
Speaker
I've been singing that all week long.
00:57:03
Speaker
I'm driving my secretary nuts down at work.
00:57:07
Speaker
But I'm excited for this game.
00:57:08
Speaker
I'm excited to see the possibilities of what it can be.
00:57:15
Speaker
Think of the time we live in pinball where these things, we don't just have to wait until we walk into the arcade and say, oh, there's a new game.
00:57:26
Speaker
I love building the anticipation of this.
00:57:28
Speaker
I love saying, hey, what are the possible things?
00:57:31
Speaker
Now, I also, I haven't seen any leaked playfield pictures.
00:57:35
Speaker
I haven't seen any leaked art.
00:57:37
Speaker
And really at this point, I'd like to avoid it because just like Martin from Head to Head, excuse me,
00:57:43
Speaker
Uh, he says, I don't want to ruin the excitement.
00:57:47
Speaker
If I know everything that I want to be wowed and I'm, I'm feeling just like him.
00:57:53
Speaker
I want to be wowed by this thing.
00:57:56
Speaker
Well, I think we're having a watch party Friday night and then we're given our, uh, given our thoughts on afterwards, but yes, well that's it.
00:58:04
Speaker
You and I are going to watch it and then we are going to be on the head to head pinball podcast and we will talk about it and see what we think.
00:58:12
Speaker
I it's man, it's so amazing.
00:58:15
Speaker
Think of all the art in pinball.
00:58:17
Speaker
When's the last time there was a bad a bad art package that was wasn't constrained due to licensing?
00:58:26
Speaker
I guess you could argue that, you know, you could certainly argue that Star Wars didn't meet expectations.
00:58:33
Speaker
But I also question, working with Lucas, that there's no chance that they did what they wanted to do.
00:58:41
Speaker
I'm a firm believer that Pirates was constrained.
00:58:45
Speaker
And not necessarily that they couldn't do what they wanted to do.
00:58:49
Speaker
But I think there were so many moving cogs with how many different people were on that game.
00:58:53
Speaker
I really believe that's where the delay came from.
00:58:56
Speaker
I think the challenge also was just trying to make the triple disc...
00:59:03
Speaker
I guess not a headache.
00:59:05
Speaker
Yeah, but that took a year to do that.
00:59:11
Speaker
So you remember my major was mechanical engineering.
00:59:13
Speaker
So I actually have a very similar background.
00:59:17
Speaker
I understand just when you're looking at something like this, you want reliability to be a must.
00:59:23
Speaker
And I look admittedly,
00:59:27
Speaker
I was disappointed when they took out the triple spinning disc, not because I think it was a huge aspect of it, but I thought it was really interesting.
00:59:37
Speaker
in that it provided some movement to the ball.
00:59:40
Speaker
But I'm one of those guys that really don't like the spinning disc on a game because it always does the same thing.
00:59:47
Speaker
It just shoots it out the outline.
00:59:49
Speaker
The left outline, it just always is a magnet for that.
00:59:54
Speaker
On X-Men, it just shoots it out.
00:59:57
Speaker
All those games, I'm just kind of rolling my eyes at all it does is just
01:00:03
Speaker
it shoots it the same way.
01:00:04
Speaker
So I thought that with the triple spinning disc, it provided a variation of movement, but it was more interesting than it was the other thing.
01:00:15
Speaker
Now, I think they recovered well by not having that disc in there.
01:00:20
Speaker
And saying that, yes, they can put that, that image on the back screen, which I thought was a really nice save.
01:00:27
Speaker
It just, it, I think it took the air out of people's sales.
01:00:30
Speaker
I think, well, just, I think everything that took that just, that was a headache.
01:00:34
Speaker
That was a train wreck.
01:00:35
Speaker
It's, it's a fantastic game.
01:00:37
Speaker
I love playing it, but between the reveal in September to almost a year before production, at least nine months before production and just the headache and the discs and the,
01:00:51
Speaker
I think that game would have done a lot better if it did not have as many hurdles as it did hit.
01:00:56
Speaker
If it came out right after... You remember the thread on Pinside where it said a dark night for Stern.
01:01:06
Speaker
And I commented on it.
01:01:07
Speaker
I said, absolutely.
01:01:10
Speaker
This was a train wreck because they had...
01:01:15
Speaker
They released nothing the year before they had the Batman 66, which was obviously pushed because Adam West wasn't in good health.
01:01:26
Speaker
And so they were trying to push that ahead, and it just looked like Stern was really floundering compared to J.J.P.
01:01:35
Speaker
came out with Pirates, that was a fantastic reveal.
01:01:39
Speaker
And then it was the Empire Strikes Back.
01:01:42
Speaker
Like, after that, Stern just cranked up the volume, and they just released good, not necessarily great game, but good game after good game after good game.
01:01:54
Speaker
And they've had some really great hits.
01:01:58
Speaker
I think Guardians has really come into its own.
01:02:01
Speaker
Iron Maiden is really coming to its own.
01:02:04
Speaker
And I've actually grown to appreciate Deadpool.
01:02:08
Speaker
And I know that people thought it was clunky at first.
01:02:10
Speaker
And I think it feels different just because, again, I'm not Keith Elpland.
01:02:15
Speaker
And it's hard for me to hit some of the shots.
01:02:17
Speaker
But it still felt like, man, this is a good game.
01:02:21
Speaker
And that's all in the time that JJP was chasing, trying to release something.
01:02:27
Speaker
You can't sell something you're not selling.
01:02:29
Speaker
You can't make any money.
01:02:31
Speaker
That's what my biggest hope is for Jersey Jack.
01:02:33
Speaker
I hope this, I hope Pat Lawler has designed something that's just blows our mind that it just plays like butter and that we love it, that this theme is perfect.
01:02:43
Speaker
And on top of all that, after everything's said and done, we get them soon.
01:02:48
Speaker
Uh, that is one of them.
01:02:49
Speaker
That's one of the things I fear for.
01:02:51
Speaker
Uh, the rumor is, is they'll show this and then it won't ship for six months.
01:02:57
Speaker
I would be shocked.
01:02:59
Speaker
I would be shocked.
01:03:00
Speaker
I think that they, the reason why they stopped pirates is because they learned from their errors with, I mean, the previous, I would say dialed in, they shipped actually relatively quickly.
01:03:12
Speaker
Um, but you remember after the dialed and dialed in was a horrible reveal because I remember watching it and watching it too.
01:03:22
Speaker
And I thought, wow, wow.
01:03:25
Speaker
And I, I even texted the distributor that I, that I know.
01:03:29
Speaker
And I said, what do you think about it?
01:03:30
Speaker
And he said, nah, I think, I think it's like, it's like your grandpa trying to appear cool.
01:03:37
Speaker
And trying to connect with a young audience.
01:03:39
Speaker
And I, I still see that I, even though I think it's a fantastic game, um, the theme I think is still a little bit of a head scratcher.
01:03:52
Speaker
So I'm really hoping that this is that perfect nexus and where they can sell 4,000 units and say, yes, we can play with the big boys.
01:04:01
Speaker
Well, and the other thing is with dialed in, really, if you just change the cabinet artwork and you could do this yourself.
01:04:07
Speaker
Oh, if you rethemed it.
01:04:09
Speaker
You wouldn't have to retheme it because it doesn't even say dialed in when you start.
01:04:13
Speaker
I think it pops up and says, well, yeah, it really should have been Quantum City.
01:04:17
Speaker
I mean, KS and Quantum City.
01:04:18
Speaker
That's really what it should have been.
01:04:20
Speaker
That's what we should do because I don't think it says dialed in on it anymore.
01:04:23
Speaker
We should just start calling it Quantum City and see how it's received.
01:04:26
Speaker
But I'm even, I'm the art I think is a little bit, it's kind of a mess.
01:04:31
Speaker
I know, no one's going to look at any of those characters and say, that's cool.
01:04:37
Speaker
I hope, I hope this goes really well for Jersey Jack.
01:04:40
Speaker
I will, I'm, I'm excited.
01:04:42
Speaker
We're, we're 48 hours away and let's do this.
01:04:46
Speaker
I just, like I said,
01:04:47
Speaker
Um, I've been working with some of the distributors for the Salt Lake gaming con that we're doing at the end of June.
01:04:53
Speaker
And I'm trying to, I'm trying to get Jersey Jack's new game that we don't know what it is.
01:04:59
Speaker
Oh, that would be fantastic.
01:05:01
Speaker
If one came out, that'd be so good.
01:05:02
Speaker
That's what I'm working on.
01:05:03
Speaker
So that's, it would be great to have it there.
01:05:07
Speaker
realistically what I've been told is we probably won't see it there because Jack probably won't have any for the next four months is what I've been told.
01:05:17
Speaker
By the way, I've been watching this Black Knight stream.
01:05:20
Speaker
Who is the dude who looks like he escaped from like an emo mortal combat with a face mask on?
01:05:27
Speaker
I was wondering that last night too.
01:05:31
Speaker
By the way, I can say that because I guarantee no one will ever accuse me of being cool.
01:05:36
Speaker
So at least the guy looks cool.
01:05:38
Speaker
I just kind of wonder about the face masking.
01:05:40
Speaker
He kind of looks like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.
01:05:43
Speaker
You know what's one of the funniest things of that stream last night?
01:05:46
Speaker
Steve Ritchie gets up there.
01:05:49
Speaker
Um, nine and 30 seconds to a minute on the pin drains the ball and his voice, the black night yells, yells at him and tells him to play better.
01:06:00
Speaker
It's kind of funny when you're telling yourself that you're sucking it up.
01:06:04
Speaker
It'd be like a JK, uh, Simon's playing a Spider-Man.
01:06:08
Speaker
I mean, that's the reason why I love the original Spider-Man way more than I like the vault edition because I, the call outs are fantastic.
01:06:17
Speaker
Well, we've been running for a little over an hour now.
01:06:19
Speaker
We should probably wrap this up.
01:06:22
Speaker
The topic we were going to talk about, I guess we'll stick it in our pocket and save it for later.
01:06:26
Speaker
We're just so excited for Black Knight and Wonka.
01:06:28
Speaker
What else are we going to do?
Community Highlights and Engagement
01:06:30
Speaker
You have to go where the hot topic is.
01:06:33
Speaker
Again, we need to save something for our Thursday show, right?
01:06:39
Speaker
Really quickly, though, before we wrap it up, I want to give a quick shout-out to Mike Lund.
01:06:43
Speaker
he is our state champion.
01:06:45
Speaker
He went on to the national finals and was in the top eight and even beat out Steve Bowden.
01:06:53
Speaker
And he, and he was taken out by the eventual second place guy.
01:06:59
Speaker
Hey, if you're going to be taken out by someone, you want them to go far.
01:07:03
Speaker
And Mike's a great player and he's a great guy.
01:07:05
Speaker
So he's a great guy.
01:07:06
Speaker
He's the one that runs most of the machines at Keto's and we're, we're pretty proud of the dude.
01:07:10
Speaker
So it was awesome to see him.
01:07:13
Speaker
take down a legend so i don't know if steve would call himself a legend but we're calling you it well steve steve steve is the best ambassador to pinball no i totally agree we said that before there's steve is one of those guys that you're like you know what i want to hang out with you
01:07:29
Speaker
We need to get him on soon.
01:07:31
Speaker
Steve would be great.
01:07:32
Speaker
I'd love to hear about, well, we didn't even talk about the deep brew stuff, but we have time.
01:07:37
Speaker
Well, we've got some good interviews coming up.
01:07:39
Speaker
So it's just, the problem is, is there's so much going on in the hobby right now.
01:07:43
Speaker
It's hard to, it's hard to pin down schedules between us and them.
01:07:47
Speaker
Well, and they're busy too.
01:07:48
Speaker
I mean, that's their job.
01:07:49
Speaker
This is our, you know, this is our hobby.
01:07:54
Speaker
So, well, awesome, man.
01:07:56
Speaker
It was great talking to you.
01:07:58
Speaker
If you want to find us, check us out on Facebook.
01:08:00
Speaker
Honestly, that's the best place to get a hold of me or Scott.
01:08:04
Speaker
Just Loser Kim Pit Mall podcast.
01:08:07
Speaker
Oh, before we wrap it up, I want to ask any of our listeners, all 13 of you, if someone has a better design,
01:08:16
Speaker
Because I seriously just scribbled with my finger on my phone and then slapped that as our logo.
01:08:21
Speaker
If you've got something way better, ship it in to us.
01:08:26
Speaker
We'll give you credit.
01:08:27
Speaker
I don't know if we can give you anything.
01:08:28
Speaker
We'll work on something.
01:08:30
Speaker
We'll give you a shout out.
01:08:31
Speaker
We'll give you a shout out.
01:08:32
Speaker
But yeah, we want to look a little more professional.
01:08:36
Speaker
We want to look like we're not doing this absolutely for free.
01:08:40
Speaker
But yeah, if you want to check us out, Facebook, SoundCloud, or if you want to contact us,
01:08:46
Speaker
Like I said, best places, Facebook, or you can contact us at loser kid pinball podcast at gmail.com.
01:08:52
Speaker
So anything else, my man?
01:08:55
Speaker
No, I think we'll, we'll see you in two weeks.
01:08:58
Speaker
Well, I'll see you on Friday night.
01:09:00
Speaker
Well, we'll, we'll talk.
01:09:00
Speaker
And, and if you haven't checked out all the other pinball podcasts that we have referenced, the pinball podcast, again, the most creative one that Jeff talks about easy, easy way to remember head to head, there's slam tilt,
01:09:15
Speaker
Uh, there's, you know, when, uh, when coast to coast pops up, uh, which ones do you, uh, do you listen to regularly?
01:09:22
Speaker
You listen to, uh, more.
01:09:24
Speaker
Uh, I listened to slap save, uh, pinball nerd, Mrs. Pin, uh, Buffalo pinball.
01:09:33
Speaker
Dude, there's so many and they're all good.
01:09:36
Speaker
I really appreciate it because my job, I work by myself.
01:09:39
Speaker
Most of the day I do heating and air conditioning.
01:09:42
Speaker
So it's really nice to be able just to put in some headphones and just,
01:09:45
Speaker
listen to the hobby.
01:09:49
Speaker
Certainly everybody in the hobby does a, does an amazing job.
01:09:52
Speaker
And I, I liked it.
01:09:54
Speaker
This is kind of a, this is a, an escape from real life.
01:10:03
Speaker
Eclectic gamers are great.
01:10:06
Speaker
It's a, it's getting close to 11 o'clock and I'm getting tired.
01:10:10
Speaker
So, all right, man, let's, let's wrap this up.
01:10:12
Speaker
Check us out and check us out on, uh, on head to head, uh, this weekend.
01:10:19
Speaker
So, all right, later, man.
