Hello and

Philip Ramsey's 2026 Mantra

00:00:27
Speaker
welcome everybody to another episode of the Uncommon Wealth Podcast, where I am your host, Philip Ramsey, and today we are going to shoot a quick video about the mantra that I want my life to be like in 2026.
00:00:39
Speaker
So we're shooting this early on in January 2026, and so I like to have kind of words of the year. i know some people love that, some people have resolutions, I like to have words of the year. And mine is stemming from a i don't know if it's a rule or a law, but...

The 'Yes And' Rule in Improv

00:00:56
Speaker
It's from an improv kind of rule, and it's the yes and rule. So let me tell you what the yes and rule is, and then we'll talk about why I want it for 2026. It's kind of my mantra. So the improv rule of yes and is a rule that is fundamental principle in improvisation, comedy, and in theater. emphasizing the importance of acceptance and collaboration. It encouraged performers to accept and build upon each other's ideas, fostering a safe and creative environment for storytelling.
00:01:29
Speaker
This rule is not only about agreeing with a suggestion, but also about adding a new information and expanding the narrative. It promotes active listening, open-mindedness, and the ability to innovate and adapt in various contexts, whether in improv, business, or personal life.
00:01:46
Speaker
Okay, so if you know anything about improv, think of like, whose line is it anyway? They get on stage and they don't know exactly what's going to happen. But they're kind of like, the rule is if somebody says, hey, let's go over here, they add on top

Embodying the 'Yes And' Attitude

00:02:01
Speaker
of that. Yes, and we can do it while I give you a piggyback ride or whatever it is. And it gets goofier and goofier. But this kind of rule started when I had a good friend of mine, Libby and Greg Olson,
00:02:15
Speaker
I want to have them on the show. I actually want to have this on sooner than later because they are just amazing people. They are just magnetic. They're awesome. I can't wait to introduce these these both to you. They're married.
00:02:28
Speaker
And their whole mantra this whole past 12 months has been, yes, and. And so when I called them and reached out to them to come to a training that we were doing for Uncommon Wealth Partners, they live in Colorado.
00:02:40
Speaker
You can only imagine what they said. They said, yes. And can we bring anything? Can we help in any way? It was just an amazing thing. I didn't think they would come. One, they're from Colorado. But they came and they had the most amazing time. it was electric that they were there. The whole people that were in the room were awesome. But every room that they walk into, I feel like is blessed because they come in with this yes and attitude instead of the opposite of maybe like crossing their arms and like this is dumb or whatever, having kind of an attitude. No, they had this open mindedness of yes and how can i improve or how can I contribute instead And I was like, I want to have that attitude in 2026. I want to have this yes and attitude that is not only attractive, but it's like, it's culture, like defining. It's something that people get excited about being around me, I hope.
00:03:36
Speaker
um But again, it it takes intentionality.

Encouragement to Embrace Positivity

00:03:39
Speaker
It takes other people's attitude. and it just it just is completely um revolutionary when I think of just two people that I'm like, I just love these people. They're awesome. Everybody else that gets around them, they love. um They're yes and people. And I want to be yes and for myself for this year.
00:03:58
Speaker
So whatever that may look like, um I know there's a lot of times where you try to like put up walls and try to put like What can I say no to this year? I know I've had that for a year, but this year I want to just be yes and, and I want to try to make the best of any situation that comes my way.
00:04:13
Speaker
And I hope that you adopt this yes and rule when everything it seems to being this... I don't know, like there just seems to be an edge of people. They get frustrated. You can see this when you're driving. People are just crazy.
00:04:27
Speaker
ah They're frustrated at whatever reason, politically or work. They're just not happy or maybe finances are tight. But I want to have this ah air of how can I contribute in a positive way to people in 2026?

Conclusion and Promotion

00:04:44
Speaker
I hope you adopt that too.
00:04:46
Speaker
and just start kind of looking at a way to be uncommon in this world. So that's it. That's all I have to say. It's a good start for 2026. That's why I wanted to open the show, open the year up with this podcast. And I hope that you adopt this principle of yes and.
00:05:02
Speaker
What else can I do to contribute? so you've been listening to Uncommon Wealth Podcast. I've been your host, Philip Ramsey, and I hope that you're yes and this year. Until next time, be uncommon. Thanks for listening.
