Eden & Briana: What do you know? Oh. Spit it out. Well, it's breast cancer awareness month. correct Exactly. and And what?
Eden & Briana: Pretty sure it's Blind Awareness Month too. Or is that September? I think that's September, dummy.
Eden & Briana: I think. Look it up. I didn't come across it So what I have is... breast cancer awareness. ADHD awareness. Down syndrome awareness, national bullying prevention.
Eden & Briana: Domestic violence awareness and national substance abuse prevention. It is October. I knew I wasn't. Is it? Blind? It's October. Oh.
Eden & Briana: That one didn't jump up as one of the toppy ones. for some reason. well So what is that one? Blindness awareness month? Okay, it's blindness awareness month too, which is important. because that's Leto's month.
Eden & Briana: Yeah. that's why I know it's October Hmm. I didn't know. Yeah. I'm a little slow.
Eden & Briana: But that's what we have. Oh. The big one for this month is breast cancer. Obviously. Yep. It's all the pink. Yeah, yeah What do you want for three grams of nuts?
Eden & Briana: Well, this is from last week because you know we skipped a week Well, you know, shit happened. So in Alabama, a 35 year old woman has been charged with felony murder.
Eden & Briana: in connection with the death of her 12 -year -old daughter who had cerebral palsy. The girl was malnourished, weighing only 32 pounds. 32? And it was also noted that there were live maggots in her diaper. ah Excuse me?
Eden & Briana: From what? Not being changed I suppose. I don't know Rotting flesh? I don't know. Ugh. That's just what I said. duke Sorry bro. That was enough for me.
Eden & Briana: Oh. There must be a lot of... Crap in the air. I'm having a hard time breathing My allergies have been... Bad. I can't get a good breath. yeah Sam's.
Eden & Briana: um
Eden & Briana: Waiting.
Eden & Briana: No, I don't wanna. Who are we doing today? Today we are gonna wait what? We haven't. Discussed what? Krista. Pike. Oh, my God. I i just can't with her.
Eden & Briana: It's time to just put her right back on the chopping block. Why are they getting her all healthy again? just I want to know why they didn't just give her another dose. She's going to die.
Eden & Briana: Because there was no backup protocol. Like. I don't know. Well, shouldn't that be in place regardless when it comes to execution stuff? I don't know. You would think a backup plan should be...
Eden & Briana: You'd think there'd be a backup plan, but apparently there's not a backup plan because everything is crazy. I can think of a few backup plans. They did life -saving measures when they should have just let her die. but you know If she was snoring, I think...
Eden & Briana: I don't know. They jumped the gun to give life -saving measures, maybe. Yeah, I don't know if, like, so you would consider that snoring. Maybe it's just, like, you know how in the nursing home, like, when they're on their... A death rattle? yes yes it's a death rattle not a fucking snore right Right.
Eden & Briana: Idiots! I know. but I guess they have protocol to follow and... Fire squad? I think her options are the electric chair or... Lethal. I think that's the only two. So will she still be executed?
Eden & Briana: Or is her lawyers going to fight this tooth and nail? They're fighting, trying to get it commuted to... Life in prison. Life in prison. But I... Oh my God. I...
Eden & Briana: She was already charged. She was already sent to the... She's already gone through all of her appeals. Yeah, she's done. She just but she doesn't get a second chance.
Eden & Briana: No, they just need to. one oh Figure out what went wrong.
Eden & Briana: I know maybe have more than one IV access just in case another one blows. I know. What? Think piece of asshole. To our head. Yes. Yes, let's do to her what she did to Colleen.
Eden & Briana: You know, just a chunk of asphalt. be the one to do that. but Right. Anyways. Yeah, i'm I'm so... Oh, my. Just unfreaking believable.
Eden & Briana: Colleen's mom waited 30 40 30 30 some years for this justice and this is what she gets. Is Colleen's mom still alive? She was there.
Eden & Briana: and to watch them do lifesaving. They pulled the curtain.
Eden & Briana: So anyway. Has she made any statement? I'm not sure.
Eden & Briana: Okay, so let's get into it. Oh, I cannot breathe. Oh my God.
Eden & Briana: so
Eden & Briana: Peter Woodcock was born March 5th. 1939 in Petersburg, Ontario to Wicca. Woodcock. Weaker. Wake a woodcock.
Eden & Briana: She was a 17 -year -old factory worker, and the father was either unknown or unnamed. Either way, he wasn't a part of the picture. Now Peter was not an easy baby. He had like feeding issues. And so he cried.
Eden & Briana: Non -stop. Non -stop. Wait, wait, wait. Can we pause real quick? yeah So... I had to Google it. May Martinez's.
Eden & Briana: um Oh. That's the mother of Krista Pike. Never mind. Keep going.
Eden & Briana: So... After a month of... of her trying to take care of Peter Weka made the decision to give him up for adoption.
Eden & Briana: Because you're just... She was 17 years old. This is 1939. She was a factory worker. She wasn't even in school. father was out of the picture and he all he did was Cry.
Eden & Briana: So yeah. yeah Now think of the time. It's 1939. That's a hot minute ago. I mean... I'm sure it was frowned upon, but good on her for realizing that She could she couldn't do it and she didn't take the route of.
Eden & Briana: write other people. Right. ways. So for the first couple of years, Peter was balanced around several different foster families. Okay, so anyway, he was bounced around.
Eden & Briana: We paused for a second so now I lost my spot.
Eden & Briana: Um. The first couple of years, Peter was bounced around. several different foster families and actually All the foster families really voiced similar concerns, and that was that Peter just seemed unable to form any type of bond with any of them.
Eden & Briana: He became scared of people and his speech was compared to that of ah of whining animal sounds and not coherent at all. At the age of two, Peter was hospitalized after a severe beating at the hands of his then foster father.
Eden & Briana: So by the... mm -hmm So by the age of three. Peter was placed in the home of Frank and Susan Maynard. They were stable, upper middle class people with...
Eden & Briana: one son of their own. By the age of five, Peter had become the target for local bullies. Susan and Peter developed an attachment that was quite significant.
Eden & Briana: which he was teased about and called a mama's boy.
Eden & Briana: Worried about Peter's emotional well -being, they sent Peter to a private school where again he failed to make any friends and remained isolated and just socially awkward.
Eden & Briana: A report from the Children's Aid Society read, quote, slight and build. Neat in appearance, eyes bright and wide open. Worried facial expression, sometimes screwing up of eyes, walks briskly and erect.
Eden & Briana: Moves rapidly, darts ahead, interested in questioning constantly in conversation. He attributes his wandering to feeling so nervous that he just has to get away.
Eden & Briana: In some ways, Peter has little capacity for self -control. He appears to act out almost everything he thinks and demonstrates excessive affection for his foster mother.
Eden & Briana: Although he verbalizes his resentment for other children, he has never been known to physically attack another child. Peter apparently has no friends. He plays occasionally with younger children, managing the play.
Eden & Briana: Oh. when with children his own age he is boastful and expresses determinedly ideas which are unacceptable and misunderstood. unquote.
Eden & Briana: I just cannot catch my breath Boom.
Eden & Briana: On an outing to the Canadian National Exhibition, a social worker heard Peter say, I wish a bomb would fall on the exhibition and kill all the children, unquote. Oh.
Eden & Briana: Mm hmm. That's alarming. When Frank and Susan were told about this they immediately sought help for Peter. They decided to send Peter to a special school in Kingston, Ontario for juveniles with psychological problems.
Eden & Briana: unfortunately things became worse he began acting on strong sexual urges with other children When Peter was 15 years old, he returned home to Frank and Susan. He was again enrolled in private school where once again,
Eden & Briana: he failed to connect with kids his own age.
Eden & Briana: At age 16, he transferred to public school where he was immediately recognized by the bullies who started right in on Peter again. He only lasted about six weeks and then went back to private school again.
Eden & Briana: Damn.
Eden & Briana: Yeah, so this... He's just not. Doing well. I would say not On September 15, 1956, 17 -year -old Peter was riding bike around Exhibition Place, which is an almost 200 -acre public place with parks, sport fields.
Eden & Briana: you know, sports fields like tennis courts and shit like that. and you know, different little places to grab a snack. As he was riding his bike around, Peter ran into seven -year -old Wayne Mallett.
Eden & Briana: Peter lured the boy out of people's view and strangled him. Hmm. He undressed the seven -year -old. bit him on the calf and the butt. redressed him then proceeded to take a shit right next to the body and then scattered pennies all around him.
Eden & Briana: Pennies? Why? I don't know. Hmm. Oh my goodness. I wonder how...
Eden & Briana: He would have turned out. if His stepfather didn't beat the living shit out of him at two years old. I don't know Because... That frontal lobe isn't fully developed. I know.
Eden & Briana: I know. Happens way too often. Yep. So the to Toronto Police initially interrogated 14 -year -old Ron Moffitt. who actually had a solid alibi.
Eden & Briana: But they managed to get a false confession and Ron was actually found guilty and was sentenced to youth detention. for the murder of this little seven -year -old. Who's wrong?
Eden & Briana: Huh? Who's wrong? Just another 14 year old boy. Oh. Why did he falsely confess? I would imagine just like anything else. Yep. Yep.
Eden & Briana: Oh, fuck. Even though he had a solid alibi. But anyhow. Reminds me of. I can't believe I'm forgetting. Their names. The three boys. Memphis Three. yes yeah So on on October 6th, 1956.
Eden & Briana: Peter was riding his bike when he crossed paths with nine -year -old Gary Morris. Peter took Gary to Cherry Beach where he beat and strangled the nine -year -old. He bit the boy on the throat. undressed and redressed him and threw paper kit clips all around the body this time.
Eden & Briana: What the hell? Cough cough So why is he... undressing him. biting his victims and then redressing them. don't know come on but like Were any of them sexually assaulted?
Eden & Briana: Let's fast forward. okay Let's fast forward to January 19th, 1957. Peter was out riding his bike when he came across four -year -old Carol Voice. He offered her a ride on his bike and she accepted.
Eden & Briana: He got her out of public view where he sexually assaulted the four -year -old. He choked her into unconsciousness and then assaulted her with a tree branch, resulting in internal bleeding.
Eden & Briana: that ultimately caused her death.
Eden & Briana: um gonna puke. mm -hmm
Eden & Briana: Investigators caught a break when they found a witness who said they saw a teenager fleeing the crime scene on a bicycle. From this witness, they were able to draw up a composite sketch which was then published on the front page of the Toronto Star.
Eden & Briana: and would lead to Peter's arrest on January 21, 1957.
Eden & Briana: He made a full confession to all three murders while in custody. Peter's biggest fear was that his mother would find out what he had done and the police would allow her to get to him, fearing her punishment.
Eden & Briana: Peter only went to trial for the murder of Carol Voice as there was enough evidence to support the confession to get a conviction. In the meantime, Ron Moffitt's murder charge was overturned and he was released from the detention center.
Eden & Briana: Peter's murder trial lasted only four days. On April 11, 1957, Peter was found not guilty by reason of insanity. and was sent to a maximum security mental health facility.
Eden & Briana: Psychologists diagnosed Peter as a psychopath. He underwent several forms of psychiatric treatments including LSD treatments.
Eden & Briana: personality changing drugs and dyads, which is some kind of personality breaking therapy. and Peter didn't respond well to any of the treatments.
Eden & Briana: e Peter was known to take advantage of prisoners with less intelligence. to engage in coercive sex acts. He made up a fake gang called the Brotherhood, quote unquote.
Eden & Briana: To be a part of the brotherhood, he would force fellow inmates to perform oral sex on him. Later down the road a bit, Peter was transferred to a more relaxed relaxed psychiatric hospital where he managed to win over the employees.
Eden & Briana: who would take him on outings to see trains, museums, and even a movie. They literally took him to the Hannibal Lecter movie, Signals and Lamps. Oh. Eh? um Now.
Eden & Briana: I'm not really sure why, but Peter actually legally had his name changed to David Michael Kruger. But to avoid the confusion, I'm going to continue calling in Peter wood Woodcock for the remainder of this episode.
Eden & Briana: But he did legally change his my name. i'm Not sure why. Peter rekindled a relationship with Bruce Hamill, a convicted murderer who had been released and was working as a security guard at the Ottawa Courthouse.
Eden & Briana: Peter convinced Bruce that if he helped him with a plan to murder fellow inmate Dennis Kerr, An alien brotherhood would provide him financial relief. relief and fix all of his problems.
Eden & Briana: So on July 13, 1991, Bruce went to a hardware store and bought knives, a hatchet, a plumber's wrench and a sleeping bag. Bruce then went to the psychiatric facility and signed Peter out for his first ever unsupervised day pass. Hold on.
Eden & Briana: Peter had arranged to meet Dennis in the woods and when Dennis arrived, Peter hit him in the head with the pipe wrench, beating him into unconsciousness. Peter and Bruce grabbed the hatchet and the knife and started slashing and stabbing Dennis, nearly severing off his head.
Eden & Briana: They then went on to sodomize the corpse. Peter then walked nearly two miles to the police station and turned himself in. For the murder of Dennis Kerr, Peter was transferred back to the maximum security psychiatric facility.
Eden & Briana: Peter tried several times to explain why he killed but he was never able to come up with a rational reason. And. In a 1993 interview, he said, quote I'm accused of having no morality, which is a fair assessment because my morality is whatever the system allows.
Eden & Briana: On March 5, 2010, 71 -year -old Peter Woodcock died of natural causes. Yeah. Wow.
Eden & Briana: Wow.
Eden & Briana: Dad? Was he just born bad? I think it has something to do with his stepfather beating him. to the point of hospitalization, correct? Yes.
Eden & Briana: at two. Yes.
Eden & Briana: I'm sure that has something major to do with it. But even before then, like, he wasn't. He was kind of scared of humans and... Yeah, and he he just... Couldn't.
Eden & Briana: form a bond. I mean, I just wonder if he was Born. that way.
Eden & Briana: Anyway, that's a wrap for this episode. If you enjoyed it, please go drop us a decent rate and review because I said so. If you want to get in touch, you can email us at miners of mayhem at gmail .com.
