What if the key to healing trauma, addiction, depression, and other deeply rooted emotional patterns lies beyond the tools of conventional medicine? In this fascinating episode, we sit down with Dr. Jeff McNairy, Chief Medical Officer at Rythmia and a pioneer at the intersection of Western psychology and indigenous plant medicine, to explore the transformative potential of ayahuasca. Dr. Jeff explains how this powerful medicine may influence the brain, including synaptic plasticity, while emphasizing the critical importance of safety, screening, intention, and the “set and setting” surrounding the experience. He also shares insights into trauma, women’s emotional health, supporting highly sensitive people, and why some individuals may be drawn to plant medicine after conventional approaches haven’t delivered lasting results. Whether you’re curious about ayahuasca or simply interested in the future of mental and emotional healing, this conversation offers a thought-provoking look at what may be possible when we expand the definition of medicine.
