00:01:04
Speaker
Always awesome to connect with some of the listeners there.
00:01:08
Speaker
And I apologize to some people, was planning to do a little solar preneur meetup, but sent out the invitation, sent out the invite a little late.
00:01:17
Speaker

Solarpreneur Live Event Announcement
00:02:06
Speaker
Okay, but let's jump into the big announcement we got before getting into the recap.
00:02:11
Speaker
I want to share with you that we are doing our first ever solopreneur live event.
00:02:17
Speaker
Okay, the first announcement that I made, I've mentioned on the show, I wanted to do a live event for a while now, but decided that, hey, we just got to put it out there.
00:02:29
Speaker
and start planning it.
00:02:30
Speaker
And there's two ways to get access to this event.
00:02:34
Speaker
I don't actually have all the details released yet.
00:02:36
Speaker
So you're hearing it here in its rawest form.
00:02:40
Speaker
We don't have a final location.
00:02:43
Speaker
We don't have a final date, but it is going to happen.
00:02:46
Speaker
And the reason I'm announcing it today, because there's actually a way to get access right away.
00:02:52
Speaker
And that is you can purchase tickets to SolarCon through our exclusive Solarpreneur discount link.
00:02:58
Speaker
And you are going to get a free ticket to the first Solarpreneur live event.
00:03:04
Speaker
Second way, you can wait until we have, you know, location information.
00:03:08
Speaker
date finalized, all that.
00:03:10
Speaker
We are going to be building out the page where you can just purchase tickets alone, but just wanted to put it out.
00:03:15
Speaker
If you are thinking of going to SolarCon and want to go ahead and get the best discount available, go to solarcon.com, I think it is, and then use the coupon code Taylor at the checkout.
00:03:27
Speaker
Not only are you going to get an extra 10% off your SolarCon ticket, but you're going to get access to our first ever Solarpreneur Live events, which is going to be off the hook.
00:03:39
Speaker
So go grab your ticket.
00:03:40
Speaker
And if you want to take advantage of that before we have all the final details released, go purchase your ticket.
00:03:46
Speaker
And you can either email me, taylor at solarpreneurs.com with a screenshot that you used our coupon code, or you can send me a DM on Instagram, Facebook, whatever is obvious.
00:03:57
Speaker
Okay, so I hope you will join us at SolarCon and then also at the first Solarpreneur live event.
00:04:04
Speaker
And just a hint, most likely it's actually going to be before the day before SolarCon.
00:04:10
Speaker
Okay, and so that way...
00:04:13
Speaker
You can make it all just one huge event, one big party.
Solar Focus at Door-to-Door Con
00:04:16
Speaker
Okay, come join us.
00:04:17
Speaker
All right, so let's jump into the recap of door-to-door con.
00:04:21
Speaker
Hopefully a lot of you were able to make it there.
00:04:23
Speaker
Door-to-door con, as I've said, it's one of my favorite events in the industry.
00:04:28
Speaker
And more and more it's becoming, I would say, exclusively solar.
00:04:32
Speaker
I mean, who cares about all the other door-to-door stuff, right?
00:04:36
Speaker
There are some cool, you know, other industries are great too.
00:04:39
Speaker
I came from pest control, as many of you know.
00:04:41
Speaker
I think solar is where it's at.
00:04:43
Speaker
Like people need to realize if you're going to knock on a door, you might as well make an insanely good commission.
00:04:48
Speaker
You might as well have a product that saves people money.
00:04:52
Speaker
Like I think everyone should just sell solar, but I guess I'm biased.
00:04:56
Speaker
Hey, but solar or door to door con, it started on, they had some VIP stuff going on on the Thursdays.
00:05:03
Speaker
It actually started Friday and Saturday, though.
00:05:06
Speaker
And just to preface some of my recap and review of this is I actually did not see a ton of speakers.
00:05:12
Speaker
So if you're wanting a recap of every single speaker, every single thing that went on there, sorry to disappoint.
00:05:19
Speaker
It's not going to be this podcast, but also that would be like a five hour long podcast probably to recap all that.
00:05:25
Speaker
But what I will say is I did catch, I would say, some of the best parts of it.
00:05:31
Speaker
And then I did do some really good networking there.
00:05:35
Speaker
I like to think of these events.
00:05:36
Speaker
It's almost like a big family reunion.
00:05:39
Speaker
So it's great to catch up with people.
00:05:40
Speaker
It's great to see some of the different vendors.
00:05:43
Speaker
It's great to see how some of these companies have grown.
00:05:46
Speaker
For example, we got Ciro, which we've had Joe Jordan, the founder of Ciro on the podcast.
00:05:52
Speaker
And I mentioned it many times as one of my favorite.
00:05:55
Speaker
products in solar.
00:05:57
Speaker
But for those that don't know, it's just you record your presentations.
00:06:01
Speaker
It transcribes them.
00:06:03
Speaker
Great little tool.
00:06:04
Speaker
But they were one of the main sponsors this year at DoorDorCon.
00:06:08
Speaker
And they came from just small beginnings.
00:06:12
Speaker
I remember when I first had Joe on the show, it was just him and his co-founder.
00:06:17
Speaker
And I think that was
Professionalism from Snowboarding to Solar
00:06:19
Speaker
It's just the two of them.
00:06:20
Speaker
And now they had a whole team were one of the main sponsors.
00:06:24
Speaker
So it's great seeing the growth of some of these companies as well.
00:06:26
Speaker
Hey, but I'm going to share the two main things that I did go to that took notes on.
00:06:34
Speaker
So I'm going to go through some of my notes and share.
00:06:37
Speaker
And this year, the main the keynote speakers, you had Sean White, you had Lance Armstrong.
00:06:44
Speaker
I think I think they were the main speakers.
00:06:47
Speaker
And Sean White was just incredible.
00:06:50
Speaker
He was at the end of the event.
00:06:51
Speaker
So just to highlight a few things from Sean White, you should all know who this guy is.
00:06:55
Speaker
Olympic gold medalist.
00:06:57
Speaker
Hey, but he told his story.
00:07:01
Speaker
You know, he started doing all these competitions, went pro when I think he was 16.
00:07:07
Speaker
And so just a couple of points he made, if you don't know his story, is I thought it was cool.
00:07:13
Speaker
He had to fight to uplevel his sports.
00:07:16
Speaker
And I think this related in a lot of ways, what solar and door to door has gone through.
00:07:22
Speaker
Like sometimes we get such a bad rap.
00:07:24
Speaker
Sometimes people think door to door is just a bunch of losers, college dropouts, high school dropouts, ex-convicts, you name it, knocking on doors and just bugging people.
00:07:35
Speaker
But Sean talked about how, when he started snowboarding professionally, he
00:07:40
Speaker
is people just thought that was like what stoners did.
00:07:43
Speaker
People thought it's some California kid smoking weed all day, hitting the slopes.
00:07:47
Speaker
Yo, surf's up, dude.
00:07:49
Speaker
You know, just smoking doobies, all that.
00:07:52
Speaker
But Sean really brought professionalism to it.
00:07:55
Speaker
And he told the story of when he first started doing
00:07:57
Speaker
you know, like interviews on TV when he won his gold medal.
00:08:01
Speaker
People wanted him to like just act like this crazy person, you know, just snowboard into the interview room and just put on this whole facade of something he wasn't.
00:08:14
Speaker
And he said, you know what?
00:08:15
Speaker
No, I'm not going to do that.
00:08:16
Speaker
I'll come do an interview, but I'm going to do it professionally.
00:08:19
Speaker
I'm going to show up just in normal clothes.
00:08:23
Speaker
I'm going to show up like I just got out off the slopes.
00:08:25
Speaker
And he really had to fight to bring professionalism to his industry.
00:08:29
Speaker
So that was one of the points that they made.
00:08:31
Speaker
Sam Tiger was on stage interviewing him is that we need to fight to bring professionalism to our industry.
00:08:36
Speaker
And we need to fight to bring honor and honesty, right?
00:08:42
Speaker
maybe shady people out there that have made it tougher for us.
00:08:45
Speaker
But anyone listening to this, hopefully you are fighting to make a solar, especially an honorable career, honorable profession, and something that's not seen as it's a bunch of like liars, losers,
00:08:58
Speaker
convicts, you name it out there.
00:08:59
Speaker
So I thought that was really cool.
00:09:01
Speaker
Hey, and then another thing he talked about is just being resourceful.
00:09:07
Speaker
He when he first got in the sport, his family didn't have a lot of money.
00:09:10
Speaker
So his mom, I didn't know he grew up in San Diego, actually.
00:09:14
Speaker
His mom crossed the border.
00:09:15
Speaker
She bought like this, some old junky Mexican RV type thing.
00:09:20
Speaker
And that was what they went to every single competition in on these slopes on these different mountain resorts, because they didn't have money to buy, you know, lift tickets, hotels, all this stuff.
00:09:31
Speaker
So they had to make it as economical as possible.
00:09:33
Speaker
So sometimes that may be how we are in solar.
00:09:35
Speaker
Maybe you're just starting out.
00:09:38
Speaker
But how can you make things work?
00:09:39
Speaker
How can you get creative to maybe go on this next blitz?
00:09:43
Speaker
Or I don't know a lot of ways that can relate.
00:09:46
Speaker
But maybe you decide you need to invest in yourself to get a coach.
00:09:50
Speaker
Maybe you need to put money in something that makes you nervous.
00:09:55
Speaker
Sometimes we've got to get resourceful and just do it.
00:09:58
Speaker
And then last thing I'll highlight from Sean White is just that he recreated his ideal situations.
00:10:07
Speaker
One of his secrets to winning all these competitions is he thought, OK, what was I doing when I landed this trick?
00:10:13
Speaker
How was I practicing this?
00:10:14
Speaker
What was the situation I was in?
00:10:16
Speaker
And he would recreate that when he was in competitions.
00:10:21
Speaker
So example he gave, he would wear the same thing.
00:10:25
Speaker
He would go through the same little routine, mental routine, meditation before his competition.
00:10:30
Speaker
And the craziest thing was he actually, when he won the Olympics, he had his mattress shipped to the hotel and
00:10:39
Speaker
so he could sleep on his exact same bed at his hotel.
00:10:42
Speaker
That way he was recreating his perfect sleeping situation.
00:10:46
Speaker
He wasn't sleeping in a different environment.
00:10:48
Speaker
I mean, not so different.
00:10:50
Speaker
He had a same bed and that was one big thing that helped him win the Olympics.
00:10:56
Speaker
So for us as solar professionals, how can we recreate these situations?
00:11:01
Speaker
Hey, I've talked about it, but as you're going in for a close, whether it's virtually on the phone in person,
00:11:07
Speaker
What's your pregame routine?
00:11:09
Speaker
What are you going through before you step into that cell?
00:11:13
Speaker
So I think it's worth maybe writing out.
00:11:15
Speaker
These are the exact things that I'm going to do as a before I go into the cell.
00:11:19
Speaker
I'm going to carry the same little briefcase I got all my stuff in.
00:11:23
Speaker
I'm going to listen to the same music, get myself pumped up.
00:11:25
Speaker
I'm going to do the same meditation.
00:11:27
Speaker
I'm going to do the same affirmations.
00:11:31
Speaker
I think it's really powerful to have a little pre-selling routine that you can go through that gets you in that's hopefully right state of mind to get the sell.
00:11:41
Speaker
So those are some takeaways I got
Marketing and Personal Branding in Solar
00:11:43
Speaker
Really cool seeing him.
00:11:45
Speaker
And then one other little panel I went to, they had a bunch of different panels and it was cool to see one of them.
00:11:53
Speaker
They actually said how many people here from solar, how many from roofing, pest control,
00:11:59
Speaker
A lot of these panels I went to, even that weren't necessarily solar related, solar focused, most people in there were in solar.
00:12:08
Speaker
So I think door to door gone is becoming more and more a solar event.
00:12:12
Speaker
And you see that as well as the vendors that were there.
00:12:14
Speaker
So many vendors were like from the solar industry.
00:12:18
Speaker
That's pretty cool.
00:12:18
Speaker
Hey, but I went to a little marketing panel where they talked about how to just be more involved in marketing.
00:12:25
Speaker
And I know a lot of us may be listening to this like marketing, who cares?
00:12:30
Speaker
Where you knocking on doors, we're doing online leads, whatever.
00:12:32
Speaker
I don't need to worry about the marketing.
00:12:35
Speaker
But I thought it was cool.
00:12:38
Speaker
Just all the different benefits that can come from building a personal brand in solar.
00:12:42
Speaker
And they just talked about we need to like make sure we clean up our online profiles.
00:12:47
Speaker
We didn't make sure that we are creating a brand for recruiting.
00:12:52
Speaker
People are checking out.
00:12:54
Speaker
Do we have videos of us like partying, drinking, whatever?
00:12:57
Speaker
Is that what we want customers and potential recruits to see?
00:13:00
Speaker
So those are some of the conversations from that.
00:13:03
Speaker
And then they also just talked about how are we looking forward to using like AI in our sales?
AI's Role in Solar Sales
00:13:11
Speaker
So this got me thinking a lot.
00:13:12
Speaker
If you have not checked out like chat GPT, there's other one of this one of the speakers on the panel mentioned this website called Hey, Jen, where it can literally make like videos for you.
00:13:25
Speaker
Maybe you could use it to make like onboarding videos or videos for your customers post sale.
00:13:31
Speaker
And then, you know, chat GPT, maybe use it to just literally have a customer newsletter typed out.
00:13:38
Speaker
So it really got me thinking like this is the future, right?
00:13:41
Speaker
We need to be open to learning more about chat GPT, about AI.
00:13:46
Speaker
Because if not, hey, robots could be taken over.
00:13:49
Speaker
We need to be in the know with this stuff and know how we can use it to our advantage.
00:13:54
Speaker
Okay, so maybe some of you aren't as into that, but I thought it was cool, especially where I'm, you know, marketing the podcasts.
00:14:01
Speaker
And I'm always looking for ways to market to customers, build more referrals.
00:14:05
Speaker
It's like, how can we do these things?
00:14:08
Speaker
to, you know, maybe not have to knock as many doors if we know how to market better.
00:14:12
Speaker
Hey, so those were a couple highlights that I got just to not take all day.
00:14:15
Speaker
Okay, but it was a great event.
00:14:18
Speaker
Again, thank you to all the people who came and said hi.
00:14:21
Speaker
Super excited to release some of the podcasts we have coming.
00:14:25
Speaker
I did, I think, four or five podcasts at the events.
00:14:28
Speaker
And sometimes it's tough because you schedule something, then you start talking to other people.
00:14:35
Speaker
A little bit challenging going back and forth with some people to schedule some podcast interviews at the event.
00:14:40
Speaker
But the ones we did were absolute fire.
00:14:44
Speaker
We got some really good podcasts
Upcoming Episodes and Offers
00:14:47
Speaker
And the next one you're going to be hearing from, you know what, I'm not I'm going to leave it a surprise because we've got some interviews lined up.
00:14:57
Speaker
Not sure which one I'm going to release first, but just know that we've got some powerful guests coming.
00:15:02
Speaker
So make sure you tune into the next podcast.
00:15:04
Speaker
And again, if you want to get a jumpstart on your SolarCon tickets, go grab them.
00:15:10
Speaker
Use coupon code Taylor and shoot me that DM.
00:15:13
Speaker
Shoot me that email and we'll make sure you are added onto our first solopreneur.
00:15:19
Speaker
live events where you're going to get a free ticket.
00:15:22
Speaker
So hope to see you guys at both of those events.
00:15:24
Speaker
Thanks for supporting the show and we will see you on the next one.

00:15:31
Speaker
Before you run out and start selling more solar yourself, wanted to let you know about an exciting new cheat sheet we created specifically for you in mind.
00:15:42

00:16:42
Speaker
So go download it and we'll see you on the other side.
