Introduction and Recording Challenges

00:00:01
tacklesandtinnies
You guys get a cheers today because this is our ah ah second attempt for our recording. Our lovely co-host Gary is a bit of a boomer and can't figure out his setup, but we persevere here on Tackles and Tinnies.
00:00:09
Gary
Yeah.
00:00:13
tacklesandtinnies
But again, guys, welcome back for the second time tonight. Gary, our lovely co-host is here, but more importantly, we've got our good friend Morgan. Morgan, introduce

Guest Morgan and Hosts' History

00:00:23
tacklesandtinnies
yourself, my friend.
00:00:23
Morgan
Hey guys, I'm Morgan. I have been mates with Gaz and Ryan for probably 15 to 20 years now. We went to school together, play a bit of footy together and I think since we first met in school we've been playing footy at lunchtime and living and breathing it.
00:00:43
Morgan
So yeah, decided to be on.
00:00:44
Gary
That's cool.
00:00:45
Morgan
First viral Tackles and Tinnies podcast, let's go.
00:00:47
tacklesandtinnies
yeah
00:00:50
tacklesandtinnies
We're going big.

Morgan's Rugby League Passion

00:00:51
tacklesandtinnies
But I think Morgan's trying to save his reputation because we're always slandering the South Sydney Rabbitohs here, Gazzy. So maybe he can redeem himself a little bit here.
00:01:02
Morgan
Amen, yeah. Get couple back.
00:01:04
tacklesandtinnies
Morgo, I want to hear your favourite team and I want to hear favourite player and of all time and your current favourite player of all time.
00:01:14
Morgan
Yep. So my favourite team is the Rabbitohs. I've got a few other teams that I get around, like Bronx. I get pretty excited around the Titans, Warriors, Doggies.
00:01:23
tacklesandtinnies
Thank you.
00:01:27
Morgan
Favourite player at the moment is the Trell. ah just think... He's a big moment player, great ball player, great runner, good kicking game. Can't fold him.
00:01:39
Morgan
He's a bit hot and cold, but yeah, i love him. And favourite former player, I think, would be James GI and Matty Bowen.
00:01:50
Morgan
think I'm a little fella myself, so watching Matty Bowen get that intercept in the old Origin game back in the day to win it was mind-blowing. Definitely.
00:02:00
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, 100%.
00:02:00
Morgan
opened my eyes to what can be achieved for someone that's under six foot tall. And yeah, GI, I think his reputation speaks for itself. Just a big fella, good running game, everything, like the full package.
00:02:16
Morgan
you
00:02:17
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. If you could clone 17 Greg Inglis and put him in a team, that's probably your ideal squad, I reckon. Yeah. Yeah, he arguably is one of the the best players of all time.
00:02:28
tacklesandtinnies
And yeah, obviously a few injuries there at the end of his armed career, but my Lord, he's got Clive Churchill's at five eight and at fullback, which is insane. So yeah, great choice, Morgan.
00:02:39
tacklesandtinnies
Mate, we finally got you on the show and we're more than happy to keep this going on. But Gazzy,

Gary's Technical Struggles and Life Update

00:02:45
tacklesandtinnies
how you, brother? What's happened in your life?
00:02:46
Gary
I'm good. i just want to say a long time coming. why that mor is one Yeah.
00:02:54
tacklesandtinnies
We are persevering here with the internet.
00:02:56
Gary
Yeah. me?
00:02:59
Morgan
Barry, just froze, yep.
00:03:00
Gary
Hello?
00:03:01
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, we can hear you, bro.
00:03:02
Gary
Bet the video's lagging.
00:03:02
tacklesandtinnies
You're good.
00:03:03
Gary
okay. No one needs to see this. Yeah, it's been good.
00:03:08
Morgan
you're on.
00:03:10
Gary
Are we on?
00:03:12
Gary
yeah yeah Yeah, it's been good.
00:03:12
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, mate. How's your week been?
00:03:14
Gary
It's been a big weekend and then back to footy. had a Had a game last night. we were all part of the Tyree Ferraris. Didn't get the cookies last night, but we've been doing pretty good.
00:03:29
Gary
Bit of a form slump. Maybe we need to get a bit of tips from the listeners, I reckon. So send us your
00:03:36
Morgan
I think we could have a full podcast on how shit we were last night, Gary. We could scrap the agenda and go over to that, but yeah.
00:03:45
Gary
Yeah, it's so true.
00:03:47
tacklesandtinnies
but I think the the listeners want to hear me rage over a Wednesday night social comp.
00:03:54
tacklesandtinnies
So we'll save that for another time.
00:03:54
Gary
Yeah.
00:03:58
tacklesandtinnies
Maybe the off-season.
00:03:58
Gary
That will be a tone

Injuries and Recovery Stories

00:03:59
Gary
segment.
00:04:00
tacklesandtinnies
We can do the Atari Ferrari Chronicles.
00:04:01
Gary
Yeah, 100%. But no, life's good. Work's busy. Yeah, ah can't really comp complain.
00:04:11
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. Well, Gazzy, you looked after me the other day on my shoulder and I'll tell you what i'm pretty sore today, but I've been a good boy. As you said, don't be going for your max on your bench press, but I went 10% less, so you'd be proud of me, Gaz.
00:04:22
Gary
Super proud. Super, super proud.
00:04:26
tacklesandtinnies
Talking about injuries, mate, let's go straight into physio corner. What's happening this week?
00:04:29
Gary
Yeah, so this week, a fair bit. We'll start off with the Seagulls, but coach, Anthony Seabold, he says that Jakey Turbo, he's going to be given the all clear, which is great because it's been his second concussion within a month, he's reportedly been feeling a lot better.
00:04:39
tacklesandtinnies
Thank you.
00:04:49
Gary
The hooker, Lachlan Croker, he's back after knee surgery as well. So it's his first game in so since last year's semifinals. And then over to to the Sharks, winger Hiradi, he returns from MCL injury. And then Roosters back rower Nat Butcher, he's back after niggling knee.
00:05:10
Gary
Tough break for the Dragons. Youngster Dylan Egan, he's out for the season with a torn ACL. And then Coach Shane Flanagan says that the club's going to rally around him during this process.
00:05:22
Gary
The New South Wales Blues, you can breathe a sigh of relief because Payne Haas, he's only copped a minor quad strain and he's likely good to go for Origin 1. But a quick look at the casualty ward, check in to the Broncos. We've got Silvan Cobbo. He's cleared of a wrist fracture.
00:05:40
Gary
Paddy Carrigan, he's all been stitched up, the bung lip.
00:05:43
tacklesandtinnies
great news.
00:05:44
Gary
And then over to the Dolphins, Tommy Gilbert. I think we talked about him last episode, but he's out for 12 weeks and it's that pec surgery. He's had it already, but they're thinking about 12 weeks.
00:05:57
Gary
Cowboys, we got Tulagi, his calf, just a minor strain. He's going to miss two weeks. And then to the Bulldogs, Jacob Karaz, he's also a calf injury. He's four to six weeks.
00:06:09
Gary
Knights, Bradman Best and Saifidi, both of them about three to four weeks with niggling injuries. And then Greg Marzu, he's aiming for 14 return.
00:06:20
Gary
To the Sharks, Stone Street, he's just had ankle surgery, so he'll he'll be out for about six to eight weeks. And then Nafahu White from the Roosters, he's out for about three to four weeks.
00:06:32
Gary
Sam Walker's been seen and back at full training, so that's great after his ACL tear.
00:06:39
tacklesandtinnies
Yep.
00:06:40
Gary
Raiders, Matty Nicholson, he's out for about 12 weeks after his ankle surgery. And then lastly to the Eels, Bailey Simonson, he's avoiding surgery. and But he's targeting to return between round 16 and 18.
00:06:54
Gary
But that's our injury news and wrap for round 12.
00:07:00
tacklesandtinnies
Yep. Thanks, Kazzy. I think, again, we like to take the piss here on tackles and tinnies that Physio corner turns into hamstring corner. And I think one of those guys we need a sort of talk about because you've said multiple times about reoccurrences is Bradman Best.
00:07:18
tacklesandtinnies
So he's had six hamstring strains in the past year. Gaz, if you're the physio or you're the trainer for the Knights, what would you be doing for Bradman Best?
00:07:30
tacklesandtinnies
He's always getting those reoccurring home hamstring strains.
00:07:30
Gary
Yeah.
00:07:32
Gary
Yeah.
00:07:33
tacklesandtinnies
What would you say?
00:07:34
Gary
Well, funnily enough, very similar to like Tommy Turbo. Tommy Turbo, he cops a fair bit of smack from us, but what can I say?
00:07:46
Gary
It's not like you can just say like, toughen up princess. You know what I mean? I think he needs probably a really good rehab program. And maybe sending him over. i think Tommy Turbo went over to America.
00:08:01
Gary
Same one as Tino. But going overseas and then maybe seeing like a strength and conditioning coach or like a a notable one doing some proper rehab.
00:08:13
Gary
Hello?
00:08:15
Gary
Anybody there?
00:08:15
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. it is concerning because he, again, I, I swear like these bigger boys, Gaz, we can hear brother. Hello. We can hear you. those bigger boys are always seeming to do the hamstrings, like those big wingers, big centers. All All right. Tackles

Newcastle Knights and Kalen Ponga's Future

00:08:34
tacklesandtinnies
and tennis listeners, it will sound slightly disjointed, but you can blame Gary two weeks in a row now.
00:08:40
Gary
It's a bit harder.
00:08:41
tacklesandtinnies
He's decided to come out of the yeah the Stone Age with his internet and join the real world and actually he's not lagging anymore.
00:08:47
Gary
Back.
00:08:48
tacklesandtinnies
So sorry again, guys. Hopefully we're on the highway back to to greatness. But Gary, we just talked about Bradman best and or Bradman worst, depending on how his hamstrings are going.
00:08:58
Gary
Yeah.
00:08:59
tacklesandtinnies
But I would also like to talk about Sam Stone Street.
00:09:01
Gary
Yeah.
00:09:02
tacklesandtinnies
Huge loss for Sharkies because they've got two starting wingers out now. Philist on his ankle injury a little bit.
00:09:09
Gary
Yes. With his ankle injury, it's most likely syndesmosis. and I'm not 100% sure.
00:09:19
Gary
it It's usually one of two rugby players. It's like a lateral ankle sprain or like a syndesmosis injury, which is a high ankle sprain. i think we talked about that on last week's podcast. Yeah.
00:09:31
Gary
If it's six to eight weeks, you're thinking more just a lateral natural ankle because the ah the other one, it takes a lot longer to rehab, ah misses especially post-surgery too. So this is probably just like a minor cle clean out.
00:09:45
Gary
You know, I'm thinking... if you looked at his foot and or ankle, like it'd be just a little keyhole surgery. So six to eight weeks ankle surgery, like rehab is going to be pretty straightforward. Like generally for bone, it's like you give it time, the scar tissue is going to heal, but then it's going to be stiff as a board. So heaps of like ankle dorsiflexion, plantar flexion, that type of thing.
00:10:10
Gary
If you're listening, so in street, that's some free advice. You're welcome. But, Yeah, it's it's pretty straightforward. He's going to be all right. like He'll be back better than ever six to eight weeks. And oftentimes, once he's rehabbed, the returned like the re-injury risk, feet and ankle stuff, isn't isn't too great.
00:10:31
Morgan
There's no fracture, hey.
00:10:32
tacklesandtinnies
Okay. Well, it's good to know.
00:10:34
Gary
Nah, nah. No fracture with Stone Street.
00:10:38
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. it's good to know. Gazzy, so we sort of talked about Tommy Gilbert, but I didn't realize the pec injury was only 12 weeks. That's actually pretty good news, correct?
00:10:49
Gary
Yeah, because last week we were kind of discussing how long, and I remember saying it might be even the whole season. So 12 weeks is what, quick amount of three months in terms of a recovery time, and that's pretty good.
00:10:57
tacklesandtinnies
Hmm.
00:11:02
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. Pretty much like round 25 ish.
00:11:05
Gary
Yeah. Yeah. Kind of end of season.
00:11:07
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
00:11:09
Gary
And Tommy Gilbert, he's massive for the Dolphins. So it's like, you know, hopefully by then, I think Dolphins are sitting at 14th and they're playing tonight. But yeah, if they can climb back with Gilbert's return, like who knows what could happen.
00:11:26
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, for sure. Well, Well done, Gazzy, Physio Corner, and obviously Origins around the corner. We probably can assume there's going to be some carnage post-Origin.
00:11:37
tacklesandtinnies
it's also good to note that Paddy Carrigan did see a plastic surgeon regarding his lip cut or tear, I should say. He's pretty much going to be good to go Origins.
00:11:49
Gary
Yep. Yep. He'll be good to go. and if if he does have a girlfriend, his girlfriend will be loving him even more now.
00:11:59
tacklesandtinnies
He doesn't need any more brownie points, mate. He's good-looking rooster, and that's for sure. hu So, boys, I reckon we just go straight into the news around the ground. So, this one's been circling in recent times, but Caelan Ponga's exit is rocking the Knights in particular, and potentially end of this year. So, there's contract concerns. The Newcastle Knights are reportedly worried about superstar Caelan Ponga, who could seek an early release from his contract.
00:12:23
tacklesandtinnies
which currently runs to the end of 2027. Poor form triggers exit talk. So the Knights are sitting 15th on the ladder with just 10 games out in 2025. Their poor form and lack of attacking spark has arced internal fears that Ponga may not want to stick around for a rebuild.
00:12:42
tacklesandtinnies
But there's club denial and potential smoke

NSW Players' Selection Dilemma

00:12:44
tacklesandtinnies
signals. While the club has publicly denied any exit talk, insider suggests that there's growing belief that Ponga could come knocking at the end of the year in case this happens.
00:12:54
tacklesandtinnies
There's some potential suitors obviously popping up with the Sydney Roosters reportedly interested. There's also speculation he could consider a code switch to Rugby Union with the Allbacks being a potential destination.
00:13:07
tacklesandtinnies
And obviously, guys, we can think about coaching pressure. So the night's form has put coach Adam O'Brien under the microscope. However, due to a hefty price payout clause, he's expected to be given until at least the end of the season to turn things around.
00:13:21
tacklesandtinnies
I've got some quotes from the story. So we've got Michael Chamis from SMH. He quotes, he is definitely a feeling at Newcastle that Calum Ponga, if things continue the way they're going, may come knocking at the end of the year on the exit door.
00:13:35
tacklesandtinnies
And on the club's mindset, How do they create an environment where Kalen Ponga doesn't think he's wasting his best years at Newcastle Knights? Morgo, i want to hear from you first, mate. What do you think about the Newcastle Knights and the Kalen Ponga situation?
00:13:49
Morgan
I think yeah the Knights haven't been convincing this season. Ponga is obviously a star player and seems to be running 150 plus every week, multiple try assists, but it's not contributing to any results.
00:14:04
Morgan
And for me, if I'm Ponga, I'm leaving, but I don't know. I don't like the Knights either. So what does that tell you?
00:14:12
Gary
Thank you.
00:14:15
tacklesandtinnies
Would you push for that early exit or try to stick it out?
00:14:34
tacklesandtinnies
Even with the Dylan Brown situation, him going there next year, would that change of mind at all No, you're gone.
00:14:39
Morgan
I think, like, the issue with the forwards a bit as well. and not getting that go forward against some of the other teams, which Ponga, like, players like Ponga would drive behind. And obviously the halfback situation, like, Dylan Brown's never really been tested at halfback, and when he's played the sole kind of ball player of the Eels, he hasn't really done anything spectacular. So, yeah, for me, I'm probably a bit concerned there if I'm Ponga.
00:15:12
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. They're cool. Gazzy, what are your thoughts,
00:15:14
Morgan
Yeah.
00:15:15
Gary
Yeah, very similar to Morgz, but with Kalen Ponga, he's a great player. And I feel like at the Knights, his role is too much ball playing. When he's... Like, you look back a couple of years, and when he was at his prime, he was ball running.
00:15:32
Gary
Like, he had the ball in his hand, he got good, clean ball, and he'd make breaks.
00:15:34
tacklesandtinnies
Yep.
00:15:37
Gary
So it's like... I think the team's kind of evolved and it's different now, whereas he's taking on a role that probably someone else would be better suited for, and then he would slot in at a different kind of way. So in terms of him leaving...

Dally M Leaderboard Update

00:15:58
Gary
ah ah the poor nights but yeah never like don't have any attachment to the night so it's like why not like tail and pong and go find kind of a new club that might be better suited but yeah interesting about the rugby union potential kind of switch so that'll be interesting to see because i know you played rugby union at school so yeah would be very ah ah very interesting to see what happens
00:16:24
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, and obviously Mel Meninga was pretty disappointed when he didn't want to play for the Australian team, and that's where these sort of murmurs are coming from because obviously he's keeping his he loves Queensland, he loves playing for Queensland, but he definitely has that New Zealand heritage, and at the start of the year he played for the Moldy All-Stars, so it's point proven that he still has that infinity for them.
00:16:48
tacklesandtinnies
think your boy sort of nailed in the head, and Gaz, reiterate sort of what you're saying, but Pong is playing halfback in the 30 meter zone in the attacking zone where he needs someone setting him up then to create that three on two or burn that guy on the outside himself.
00:17:05
tacklesandtinnies
yeah, they're just doing a bloody bloody of a bit of a turnstile in terms their halfback five, eight situation. Fletcher sharp. So he's a bit of a revelation, but let's be true boys. He's a, he's a fullback. He's a bloody Gold Coast Titan situation all over again, in my opinion.
00:17:20
tacklesandtinnies
But yeah, Dylan Brown, very similar player um to Ponga. I think Dylan Brown's almost a hybrid 5'8", plays more like a fullback as well. So they've literally got Gold Coast tied into 2024, ridden all over again. It's literally Brimson, JC, Keeney next year for the Knights.
00:17:37
tacklesandtinnies
That's how i'm literally seeing it, where Ponga and JC are that sort of forced halfback sort of role. which sort of mitigates their running game. And that's thing that's where the Knights are really struggling.
00:17:47
tacklesandtinnies
But so, yeah, I agree more because I'm 100%. If I'm Pong, I'm gone. A place like the Roosters who have got, again, good forward pack. They've always been had a good forward pack. Got James Sadesco at the back.
00:18:01
tacklesandtinnies
Where do you put Pong? Could you put him at I don't know if he wants to be in the front line again, but That's a tricky one, obviously. You've obviously got the the Rugby Union with the World Cup coming up in a couple of years.
00:18:13
tacklesandtinnies
That's a huge draw card for a lot of league players, especially with New Zealand heritage. So yeah, definitely one to watch. And it's definitely, I think if Queensland, him going back into Queensland camp is probably the best thing for him. I think it was just a bit over the whole situation at Newcastle. And I think if he gets into a sort of,
00:18:31
tacklesandtinnies
a winning culture, all these winning players. I think it's sort of going to rejuvenate him. So maybe i might have to hold him in Supercoach, but we will see.
00:18:39
Morgan
Could be a target for the, it could be a target for the Bears as well.
00:18:39
tacklesandtinnies
The next news story. So, yeah, sorry, mate.
00:18:45
tacklesandtinnies
True. Very true.
00:18:45
Morgan
2027, he's got some links to Perth.
00:18:46
tacklesandtinnies
Could be a Bears draw card.
00:18:47
Morgan
He might have to back check me on that one, but I'm pretty sure he lived over there for a little while too. So, another option.
00:18:53
Gary
Oh, no.
00:18:55
tacklesandtinnies
Great shout. Didn't know know that. Yep, love that, Morgz, well done. I'm thinking this one too, boys. So we got Moses and Cleary and Bracely and bracing the New's half combination, and they're quoting, egos won't get in the way.
00:19:08
tacklesandtinnies
So... Obviously for New South Wales for the first time, Mitchell Moses and Nathan Cleary will partner in the Haas for the New South Wales Blues in the 2025 State of Origin opener next week on Wednesday. we've obviously there's bit of role clarity coming to hand here. So Moses will wear the number six and play 5-8, while Cleary will retain the number seven, will act as the dominant playmaker.
00:19:28
tacklesandtinnies
Moses says he's excited to roam and pick his moments, embracing the shift from his usual halfback role. roll They've been quoting via radio that egos won't come in the way and they'll embrace the importance of complementing each other's game.
00:19:41
tacklesandtinnies
And obviously we had selection drivers in New South Wales because of Drome Luwai being the incumbent at along with Moses being the incumbent halfback. Laurie Daly obviously had a bit of a headache situation there, picking between Moses and Luwai.
00:19:55
tacklesandtinnies
Obviously you got that Luwai-Cleary connection, which we'll talk about shortly. and It's pretty hard not to leave Cleary out, but some key quotes here, Mitchell Moses, he's the seven.
00:20:07
tacklesandtinnies
excites me a fair bit. And I am keen to pick up my opportunities where Nathan Cleary is quoted. It's about complimenting each other's game and making sure we're bringing the best out of each other. Egos won't get in the way.
00:20:18
tacklesandtinnies
And New South Wales coach Laurie Daly is quoted. It was a tough call, but Moses has been superb since returning from his injury. His kicking game is elite. Dazzy. Thoughts on the whole New South Wales halves combination dilemma?
00:20:32
Gary
Yeah, it's, I wouldn't say it's a great problem to have for New South Wales because they're both such great players. A little bit of a contrast to last year where, you know, Lilloy was picked as 5'8", and then Moses slotted in for Cleary. So I think it's going to be great for I had to say it, but it's going to be great for South Wales.
00:20:58
Gary
Yeah, it's a good problem to have. And Cleary is they're both such great ballplayers. So, like, far out, they're to tough. It's going to be tough.
00:21:10
Gary
But yeah, Mitchell Moses, he brings a great passing game, kicking game, same as Cleary. So a lot of overlap there, but both amazing players.
00:21:18
Gary
They can both run ah ah real quick, speedy, and I'm sure they can put any player through a gap, like the forwards, the centers.
00:21:25
tacklesandtinnies
ye Yeah.
00:21:29
Gary
like It's going to be interesting. It's going to be interesting it's goingnna be good
00:21:35
tacklesandtinnies
are thoughts Morgan?
00:21:37
Morgan
I think it's a great call. like I think when you watch Penrith games over the last few years, probably less so this year, Cleary's really dominated on that left edge.
00:21:48
Morgan
Whereas at the Eels, Moses runs things on the right. So I can just see it working out really well for them. Moses has an awesome running game, as does Cleary, but I think Moses will jump into that sixth role pretty seamlessly and have an impact.
00:22:05
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, I 100% agree. I think Moses' running game is so underrated because obviously he does so much of the ball playing and controlling of the ruck, but it's going to be not great because I'm a Queensland supporter and as you two boys are as well.
00:22:18
tacklesandtinnies
It's going to be good to see Moses sort of more off the ball and taking his opportunities sort of like Jerome Luai. And I think obviously Moses plays more direct, which I think will actually complement guys like Luttrell and Critter more than Luai would.
00:22:32
tacklesandtinnies
yeah, it sucks for Luai. He's such a gun. And I think obviously Moses probably in better form due to the the role of the current, due to Jerome Luai's role at the cot Tigers currently with Galvin there.
00:22:45
tacklesandtinnies
However, the intangibles that Jerome Luai brings to that team, he's just that energizer bunny. He's that guy that if you're versing him, you hate him, but if he's on your team, you'll love him.
00:22:57
tacklesandtinnies
that's sort of the intangibles that, like you need in the team. He's that guy. But yeah, very hard done by not being in the squad. But yeah, huge, huge call from Lowy Dalian.
00:23:09
tacklesandtinnies
I think it was the right one, that's for sure.
00:23:12
tacklesandtinnies
So got a bit of an update on the Dalian situation, boys. So we got Warriors with Luke Metcalf surging to the top. So new leader Luke Metcalf has stormed to the top of the Dalian medal leaderboard after a commanding performance of the Warriors' gritty 16-12 win over the Dolphins last week So obviously a bit of Metcalf magic with the Warriors' halfback earned all full six Dallien points, votes for his efforts, controlling the game with poise and precision.
00:23:39
tacklesandtinnies
It was the club's fifth straight win and Metcalf's influence is continuing to grow. So boys, I'll quickly read out the current top five guys after round 11. So we've got Lukey Metcalf on 30, Will Kennedy 29, Terrell May there at 27, Jimmy Tedesco 24, and Big Payne Haas at 23.
00:23:55
tacklesandtinnies
jimmy tedesco at twenty four and big pain heart at twenty three But some other outstanding efforts from last week, we got Keon Kulamatangi. So Morgan, I know you're frothing the rabbit-o's, but he got six votes.
00:24:07
tacklesandtinnies
He got 286 run metres, 49 tackles, and a dominant display of the Tigers. Clint Gutherson, he got six points as well. He was instrumental in the Eels win over the the Broncos.
00:24:18
tacklesandtinnies
We got Adam Fanoil Blake getting six votes as well. He led the Sharks 31 to 26 over the Storm. So some key quotes here and points. Licky Metcalf's rise has come from the fringe of a first-grader Dallium leader.
00:24:32
tacklesandtinnies
He can keep it up and deliver the Warriors' first-ever Dallium medalist. Kulamitangi's origin push, so with performances like that, is Keon locking down or looking in to get to a Blues jersey in Game 2?
00:24:37
Gary
Okay.
00:24:45
tacklesandtinnies
And obviously, there's a tight race at the top at the moment with Metcalf and Kennedy, but guys like Terrell Mayer definitely in the hunt. Morgo, what's your thoughts on the current Dallium situation?
00:24:58
Morgan
I'm wondering where Jai Gray went. But, yeah, I think he's definitely well-deserved.
00:25:01
tacklesandtinnies
Ha!
00:25:05
Morgan
His running game has just been instrumental to that Warriors team. And I think he's really come a long way as a ball player as well. Yeah, I think Kane Haas, he's probably had a...
00:25:19
Morgan
He's been the victim of his first couple round performances as well. like He started so amazingly and he's been rock solid ever since. But I think the first two games are really stung him a little bit there. But yeah, he should definitely be up there as well.
00:25:35
tacklesandtinnies
Yep. What are your thoughts Keyon going to the middle with that six points? I love him in the middle, mate.
00:25:40
Morgan
Oh, 100%. I think like the the game on Sunday, it was Keyon V Terrell.
00:25:48
Morgan
a both of them had crazy run metres, amazing number of tackles for middles as well. But I think when I watched Keon, and I might be a bit biased here, that Keon's offloading and Keon seemed to be offloading for the sake of it at times.
00:26:09
Morgan
Yeah, was interesting to watch, but yeah, good game.
00:26:10
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
00:26:13
Morgan
We won, so.
00:26:15
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. And I love to see Will Kennedy up there at 29 points, like just underneath Metcalf's 30. I was giving, well, I wasn't giving personally, but Will Kennedy was definitely under the hot seat at the start of the year.
00:26:24
Gary
Okay.
00:26:30
tacklesandtinnies
Definitely wasn't guaranteed that fullback position. Guys like Cade Dykes and a couple of other fellas were pushing in. Obviously, there was smoky chat of, Nico Hines changing position at the start the year to fullback but a guy like him he's been by far their most consistent player and he's such a workhorse at the back I love to see that and a guy like Terrell May getting pushed out of the roosters which was a shocking situation at the time of the offseason but yeah Terrell's been an absolute gun and we'll talk about origin shortly but
00:27:04
tacklesandtinnies
He's been very, very hard done by. Gazzy, what are thoughts, mate?
00:27:09
Gary
And so I was not listening right because you you know why? Because my potatoes are about to explode. So it sounds like it's about to literally explode.
00:27:24
Gary
This potato is giving me errors. It's telling me that it's not going to save the audio. So give me two seconds.
00:27:34
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
00:27:35
Gary
Yeah. So interesting question, right? I reckon Lukey Metcalf, like he's like Sean Johnson, was it last year or two years ago?
00:27:43
Gary
It was him and Kalen Ponga and they were like racing to the, to the end, which is super interesting.
00:27:49
tacklesandtinnies
yeah
00:27:49
Gary
Cause then like, I think it shows that Lukey Metcalf has really taken it in like the position in his stride because he's yeah, well, after round 11, he's killing it on 30 points over like Will Kennedy.
00:28:03
Gary
Terrell Mayer, yeah, he's he's an absolute weapon. and think most people can agree, at least in Supercoach, that he's a big meter eater.
00:28:12
Gary
Heaps of points. Pretty safe with Terrell. Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure you'll cover it over like in the origin, but I feel like James Tedesco has been a little bit hard done by like the Dylan Edwards verse, you know, fullback thing. But yeah, overall, I think, you know, top five with Payne Haas at fifth, it's it's looking like a really good race to the end.
00:28:42
tacklesandtinnies
yeah and guys like Terrell, or maybe not Terrell, but guys like Tedesco who have that opportunity not being an origin. They're the type of guys who will just fly up the ladder.
00:28:53
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, and Metcalf, a huge shout to him because he played 5'8 last year, injured for at least probably half the season last year. he's taken this season in stride after I rage traded him out and...
00:29:05
tacklesandtinnies
that's That's super coach as well, boys.

Lachlan Galvin and West Tigers Controversy

00:29:07
tacklesandtinnies
That's super coach.
00:29:07
Gary
Yeah.
00:29:07
tacklesandtinnies
So we'll go straight to the next story. So Lockie Galvin, he's back. he can't He can't escape the tackles in Tinney's news cycle. But Lockie Galvin is in talks for an immediate Tigers release.
00:29:22
tacklesandtinnies
So there's an exit exit incoming. So Rising West Tigers playmaker Lachlan Galvin is reportedly in talks with the club over an immediate release from his contract, which currently runs until the end of 2026. So as we know, he's already rejected ah ah Tigers offer of $6 million. dollars He also accused the West Tigers of bullying and manipulation and other antics at the club.
00:29:46
tacklesandtinnies
yeah There's a transfer fee in condition, so the Tigers are open letting Galvin go before the June 30 deadline this year, but are reportedly seeking a transfer fee and want the legal case reconsidered as part of the deal.
00:29:59
tacklesandtinnies
And there's some potential destinations already, you've got the Bulldogs and the Parramatta Eels, who are believed to be front runs to sign Galvin if he's released early. There's some quotes here. So Foxley reported, the Tigers and Galvin management are in talks get that early release by June 30.
00:30:16
tacklesandtinnies
And the club source via SMH, there's optimism that the deal could be done as early as this week. So literally, this could be Galvin's last game this week. On NRL 360 a couple nights ago, host, Braitha Nasta, former Tiger and player agent, delivered a scathing assessment of the whole situation.
00:30:36
tacklesandtinnies
He has quoted and stated, get rid of them He argued playout yeah argue that Galvin's presence has derailed the Tigers' momentum, citing a 64-0 loss to the Storm, as well as choking a try at the very, very end of last week's game against South Sydney.
00:30:56
tacklesandtinnies
Morgan, I bet you're frothing that. And there's a quote stating here, This came from nowhere. This was a curveball from Galvin's management as his team, which has really unsettled and derailed the club that was on the rise in the past couple of weeks.
00:31:10
tacklesandtinnies
Morgo, we'll go straight to you, mate. What's happened with this next episode of the Galvin Trials?
00:31:17
Morgan
I think it's like really disappointing. As much as I loved him for his little error on Sunday night, I think his contributions at the Tigers have been pretty instrumental in them in their good performances.
00:31:31
Morgan
I think when he's on, the Tigers are on. And when he's quiet, and we see results like we've seen the last couple of weeks. I think certainly last season as well, like we noticed him a lot more, but yeah, I would agree that over the instead instead ah reports, he's been a bit quiet and hasn't been as productive with the ball in hand as he has otherwise. But yeah, I think it's a shame he's leaving the Tigers. They definitely need a good six and if he was to go, I think,
00:32:04
Morgan
We're looking at Bulldogs and Eels, I'd say 100% Eels with Dylan Brown leaving could definitely benefit from a six, so,
00:32:13
tacklesandtinnies
What are your thoughts, though, this year? You've got Brown and Moses there. Would you chuck them on the interchange? Would you try to play them somewhere else? What would your play be for Galvin this year?
00:32:20
Morgan
don't know, like, I've heard rumours about him potentially playing a lock. which is a decent shout.
00:32:28
tacklesandtinnies
Hmm.
00:32:29
Morgan
He's like a pretty big frame for a six as well. So, yeah, I don't mind him playing in that team. And I think Eels could use some skill out there as well. So, yeah, don't mind it.
00:32:41
tacklesandtinnies
Yep. Good chat. Kazzy, thoughts?
00:32:45
Gary
Yeah, he's... think the question is, is he is he worth it? I personally think... No, like, he's a great player.
00:32:59
Gary
But, like, I personally think he's probably overrated. Lockie Galvin. Like, it just depends on how much... It sounds like he... It sounds like he wants like a really high contract.
00:33:11
Gary
Like he's, what is he, 19, 20? Like he's young and he's he's wanting everything type of thing.
00:33:15
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
00:33:17
Gary
So it's like he's young so you can get a couple of years out of him, but it's like, is he worth it? And like, will a club benefit? And like, is there value to that club?
00:33:29
Gary
Because once he's there, you know, they're going to sign him for a couple of years at least. Then you're stuck with, well, you're not stuck, but you know, him and the team, like, will he gel in that team?
00:33:41
Gary
Or is it just going to be ah ah another, like, West Tigers kind of thing? You know, he wants an immediate release, etc et cetera, et cetera.
00:33:50
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, mate, I couldn't second that further. um it's I think he's actually tanked his own stocky. like He probably could have got offers if they were more amicable in the negotiation process, sort of tried to keep things things underneath the rug or behind closed doors.
00:34:05
tacklesandtinnies
But you've been so public with this. Which club is going to pay this kid nine who's 19 years old, one and a half years worth of experience, and he's literally clip me up, boys, but he's like literally a cancer at the moment.
00:34:19
tacklesandtinnies
for the club. No one's going to pay a million dollars a year and now these clubs actually have leverage back over him. So reckon best case he's going to be making 700 grand. He's literally just lost probably two million dollars over like a five-year contract because of the way he's gone about this whole situation which almost is a good lesson for him and other players that if you play hard ball and it backfires which we can probably all agree that it has backfired somewhat, the way he's going about it.
00:34:52
tacklesandtinnies
Hey, you're potentially going to lose millions and millions of dollars. And you're probably not going to be playing first grade straight away. Like, Parramatta and the Doggies aren't going to be putting him straight into the team.
00:35:03
tacklesandtinnies
Well, maybe. I'm assuming not. But he'll probably be playing reserve grade for at least a couple of weeks earn his stripes and get the boys on side. um side. um Yeah, it's a tough one because...
00:35:18
tacklesandtinnies
We're not really ripping, as I said last week, we're not really ripping into Daly Cherry Evans when he gave everyone so much notice that he wants to leave the club. we have to Galvin. But I think it's the way Cherry went about it comparatively to Galvin.
00:35:33
tacklesandtinnies
Cherry was very open and honest and still wants to do the best for the club for the year. Galvin's just literally torched it. He's like, I'm going to be throwing Molotov cocktails all throughout the locker room.
00:35:45
tacklesandtinnies
And if the club burns and I'm out of here, I don't care. sigh yeah, if i' I agree with Bretton Nasta. No player is bigger than a club. And I think it's good to see, obviously, probably about a month ago now, that Api Korosau and Jerome Luai, who were the leaders of that club, they didn't want him.
00:36:03
Morgan
oh
00:36:03
tacklesandtinnies
So think that speaks loudly and they were backing the coach and that's what you want to see. But, yeah, I think he's played his last game this weekend, personally.
00:36:12
Gary
Mm-hmm.
00:36:14
tacklesandtinnies
So next up, boys, we're wearing some merch. Gaz, you're wearing merch. It's our origin time,

Queensland Maroons Team Analysis

00:36:20
tacklesandtinnies
boys. So we're going to talk about thela the the teams a little bit. So winners and losers from the Queensland squad reveal.
00:36:27
tacklesandtinnies
So some key points here. So Robert Derby gets his Origin debut. So the biggest surprise from Billy Slater's Maroon squad announcement and was the inclusion of 20-year-old Robert Toyer, who has been only just played 10 games this year.
00:36:40
tacklesandtinnies
Despite two ACL injuries early in his career, Slater praised Toyer as a world-class centre and shifted Valentine Holmes to the wing to make room. There's a Corey Horsburgh snub.
00:36:52
tacklesandtinnies
So despite being named in the most predicted Queensland teams, fiery Raiders forward Corey Horsburgh has been left out of the 20-man squad entirely. His admission has raised eyebrows given his recent form and origin experience.
00:37:04
tacklesandtinnies
Now this one has confused me and I'm looking forward to hear your take, boys. But Trent Liero gets the nod. So after 85 games for the Storm, Trent Liero has earned his origin debut. He has moved to lock, has unlocked his potential and said has rewarded his consistency.
00:37:18
tacklesandtinnies
And we got obviously injury distributions or disruption, sorry. The squad has been coming to injury carnage, forcing Slade to make a few unexpected selections. The row in depth will be tested ahead of game one.
00:37:29
tacklesandtinnies
Guys like Murray, Talangi, Cobo, these probably were guys in front of Toya arguably, but again, looking forward to your takes, boys. I'm going to quote from Billy Slater here on Robert Toyer. I think he's a world-class centre.
00:37:41
tacklesandtinnies
Although he's not only 10 games into his NRL career, he has been through a bit of adversity. We think he's origin class. Dazzy, thoughts on the Queensland Maroons team.
00:37:51
Gary
Yeah, I'm just pulling out the team list up now again. I've just got it in front of me, but a great-looking team on paper. know i think if you compare New South Wales and Queensland, I personally think that New South Wales have a stronger team on paper, and that's coming from me, bloody Queenslander.
00:38:11
tacklesandtinnies
Thank you.
00:38:14
Gary
But I think Queensland, I do like their forward pack. With Tino, yeah they've got Ruben Cotter, Nanai at 12, Patrick Carrigan. So it's going to be a solid team.
00:38:32
Gary
I like their back line as well with Caelan Ponger at fullback. And then Xavier Coates at two.
00:38:41
Gary
I think Xavier Coates is going to bring a lot of flair. So like against the Sharks when he got that take, that Israel Folau-esque take, which was absolutely beautiful to watch.
00:38:44
Morgan
a
00:38:53
Gary
I'm hoping that you know that he can...
00:38:54
Morgan
Oh a
00:38:55
Gary
be used in the in the air like an air coats or something like that but toya like yeah uh that's that was really interesting like i'm i'm back in slater i think he knows what he's doing and toya is a world-class center so like he's great in d so very interesting to watch him up against the other center i think it might be critter
00:39:01
tacklesandtinnies
All aboard.
00:39:20
Gary
well, yeah, so yeah, tough, tough night ahead for Toya, but, yeah, it will will be, very, very interesting to watch.
00:39:21
tacklesandtinnies
Let's troll me it, mate. Troll me it.
00:39:32
tacklesandtinnies
yeah morgo thoughts mate
00:39:34
Morgan
I don't know. I think this is a really intriguing pick as well. Toya's obviously got amazing footwork. I think round one, he absolutely danced around someone.
00:39:44
Morgan
So maybe he can emulate some happy dancing on the trail on Wednesday night, but we'll see. He is a big body, which I think works in his favour.
00:39:51
Gary
Yeah.
00:39:55
Morgan
I think if you go small against the trail, you're just going to get run over. over. um I actually watched this game live, the South Spruces game down in Sydney, and I think Luttrell his number. So, yeah, it'll be really interesting to see how that goes. But I think he'll be a really interesting pick. He's really mobile, really quick, good footwork.
00:40:18
Morgan
So, whatever think you really want in a centre.
00:40:23
Morgan
So, yeah, that's where I'm sitting with that one. I think overall the squad seems pretty, like, light and mobile. really up front, which will be interesting. I know Tino's probably the biggest forward they've got at the moment, but Paddy can play a lot as well. And I think they've got a bit of depth there on the bench too to kind of turn things around if it gets real sloggy.
00:40:23
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
00:40:47
tacklesandtinnies
yeah
00:40:47
Morgan
But yeah, that blue squad is terrifying to me. I think they've got a really big pack and I think Kane Hearth is just going to give whoever's defending him nightmares all night as well.
00:41:00
tacklesandtinnies
hundredndra percent
00:41:03
tacklesandtinnies
kind of like missing Tommy Gilbert because he's that he's the Liam Martin. He's that arsehole in your team. We haven't got that now in my eyes, or at least verbally.
00:41:16
tacklesandtinnies
Billy Slayers obviously knows what he's doing, definitely knows more than a guy talking on a computer at 8 o'clock on a Thursday night. But I don't like the current forward pack in regards to who's starting.
00:41:30
tacklesandtinnies
So my eyes of a bench would be like you have your explosive guy, got your utility guy, and then you got two, like you got your out and out front rower, and then you probably got a back rower.
00:41:41
tacklesandtinnies
Trent Liero is the definition of a starting lock. Like he does not bring impact. He doesn't really change much in terms of being athletic.
00:41:54
tacklesandtinnies
I think the easy switch, Fodawaker comes off the bench. And you put Paddy Carrigan at front row pairing up with Tino. And then Liero just takes that garbage, does the hard yakka at the front.
00:42:07
tacklesandtinnies
And then you take Paddy Carrigan back to lock like he does for Broncos. And then you chuck Mowi Fodawaka or Lindsay Collins in. What your thoughts on that change instead?
00:42:16
Gary
Mm-hmm.
00:42:17
Morgan
I think Liero pretty much does the role he does at work. So I don't see what he really adds there. And um he's <unk>s got a smaller frame than Paddy too. So in terms of running game and stuff, it's just not going to match it.
00:42:34
Morgan
We're much better off having some bigger units there to have the impact and cause some havoc in the middle.
00:42:43
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
00:42:43
Morgan
But yeah, I don't know.
00:42:44
tacklesandtinnies
guys what are your thoughts, mate?
00:42:47
Gary
Yeah. we We should kind of... I'm interested to... like If we compare forward packs, right like in I don't have the New South Wales team up, but I think Queensland, at least historically, like last year, have gone for a very more mobile pack. They're a little bit faster or...
00:43:14
Gary
I wouldn't say smaller because Tino's not very small, but like, you know, like a quicker, faster forward pack, more mobile, i would say, compared to New South Wales. I think New South Wales are a bigger forward pack.
00:43:29
Gary
Like if we had to compare like kilograms, Maybe. And it'd be interesting one, actually. But New South Wales, in my mind, is like a bigger forward pack.
00:43:40
Gary
So it's like, I feel like New South new south Wales, bigger. Queensland, smaller, but maybe fitter. And then like over 80 minutes, it's like them two clashing and then like wondering, like who's going to turn out like on top.
00:43:58
tacklesandtinnies
I have no ill will of Liero getting picked. I just hate him coming off the bench. And that's not a spot on him. is like It's just the arena that it is. think it's a perfect opportunity just to get the garbage, the first 20 at least.
00:44:15
tacklesandtinnies
Just Liero takes the brute force and then you can get Mo Fodder-Waker's quick leg drive or Lindsey Collins' big motor coming off the bench. That makes way more sense to me.
00:44:28
tacklesandtinnies
And then you can go literally Barnett and Haas versus Tino and Carrigan. That makes sense. That is the, that's the collision that we will be seeing. And that goes one for one.
00:44:40
tacklesandtinnies
And I think that makes more sense, but who knows there could be a late change. It's happened many times in the past, but yeah, time will tell. Yeah, great. It's going to be, I mean, I'm keen. As we all know, boys, I'm going to the game next week, so I'm absolutely frothing at the mouth. So, yeah, that's the origin chat for a bit.
00:45:00
tacklesandtinnies
So, boys, we'll go over the game reviews from last round. So, first game, we got the ah Newcastle Knights 6 to the Parramatta Eels 28. This was at the Newcastle. So, some key points and match highlights.
00:45:12
tacklesandtinnies
So, the Eels dominated. So Parramatta out for a clinical display, running in five tries to one and controlling the game from start to finish. Zaki Lomax shined, so the Eels winger was electric scoring two tries, kicking three goals and adding a penalty goal for a personal haul of 18 points.
00:45:29
tacklesandtinnies
Mitchell Moses magic, so Moses opened the scoring in the 10th minute and steered the Eels around the park with precision. Dylan Brown and Jordan Samrani both crossed for the second half to seal the result with Samrani scoring his first NRL try.
00:45:43
tacklesandtinnies
And the Knights' lone highlight, so James Stiller scored a late consolation try in the 74th minute, which Pong Art converted. And obviously there was had Simbin, so Kai-Pierce Paul had a Simbin in the 61st minute, and the Eagles capitalized with two kick tries.
00:45:58
tacklesandtinnies
So the quick quotes from the post-match game, got Zach Lomax, we're building nicely, it's good to be back in form and helping the boys get the job done. Mitch Moses quoted, we stuck to our plan and executed well, it's always tough in Newcastle, so we're stoked with the win.
00:46:13
tacklesandtinnies
It was coach quoted, that's the kind of footy we want to play. Disciplined, fast and clinical. The boys delivered tonight. And Knights coach Adam O'Brien quoted, we were outplayed simply at that.
00:46:25
tacklesandtinnies
We've got to be better with the ball and more resilient without it. And Ponga quoted, we're disappointed. where We know we're better than that. We've got to get the bounce back real quick. Morgo, what are your thoughts on the first game of the round last week?
00:46:38
Morgan
Oh, it was a bit of a bar for the night. um um Yeah, the Eels were pretty dominant. car Had a pretty good game as well from memory. A couple of line breaks, some good metres.
00:46:50
Morgan
Still bags and Mitch pretty much controlled things through the middle too. Mitch's passing game I think is looking pretty on point, which is pretty ominous for Wednesday. But yeah, all in all, pretty...
00:47:08
Morgan
day if you're a Knights fan and don't think the press conference does Adam don't O'Brien any justice either just think such low energy every time and yeah if I'm a fan I'm wanting him out of there but oh well
00:47:26
tacklesandtinnies
Guys, what are your thoughts,
00:47:26
Gary
I love that, Morgz. Spot on with that one. I know Tim listens to this, so I'm going to say, suck shit, Tim. The Knights suck.
00:47:35
tacklesandtinnies
mate?...........................
00:47:36
Gary
Come at me, bro. Nah. Yeah. Look, the Knights, they are... I think we can understand how... Well, ryan Ryan, as Titan supporters, I don't think you can get any worse. At least come round 11...
00:47:54
Gary
where we're sitting on the ladder, you can't get any worse. So for that game, it was like, it's a, it's a tough loss and yeah, they're going to take a lot out of that.
00:48:08
Gary
And hopefully get the win next, next week.
00:48:13
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, as we've sort of talked about the Knights' condomium earlier on with Kalen Ponga wanting to leave potentially. They look shot, man. The Knights are just absolutely cooked.

NRL Game Reviews and Highlights

00:48:24
tacklesandtinnies
There's some guys really trying, like Fletcher Sharp's obviously having a real red-hot crack. But yeah. Pongers looks just disinterested. And I think Origins coming at the best time is, as as I said before, he's going to feel a bit more rejuvenated being around some winning players.
00:48:39
tacklesandtinnies
And who knows, some of those boys might be in his ear saying, Hey, come over with me to the next club. But yeah, got to give a shout out to Parramatta, mate. theyve They're absolutely looking unreal since Mitchie Moses has come back.
00:48:50
tacklesandtinnies
Look like a brand new team. Obviously that's let Dylan Brown do his natural game at five, eight. So Again, contradicts what Gil Brown's going to doing next year at halfback the the Newcastle Knights.
00:49:02
tacklesandtinnies
But yeah, as you said, Morgo, totally agree. Addo Kars looking unreal. Zachy Lomax proved that he's the yeah new south wales New South Wales winger and he had that on lock. Yeah, shout out to Parramatta. They were very, very good.
00:49:18
tacklesandtinnies
So next game, we got the Canary Bulldogs versus the Sydney Roosters. So Bulldogs are 24 to the Roosters 20. So, boys, we have a drishon on this show. I've got the got Jake and Chris to pronounce this name and you boys both can have a go.
00:49:31
Gary
ah and
00:49:33
tacklesandtinnies
Mark Nawanganissawase. Morgan, have a crack.
00:49:37
Morgan
Mark Nawaka Nikol.
00:49:40
tacklesandtinnies
All
00:49:41
Gary
We're not bad rooks.
00:49:41
Morgan
Not it.
00:49:43
Gary
I'll butcher this.
00:49:44
tacklesandtinnies
right, Gaz, have a crack, bro. All
00:49:46
Gary
Mark Nawakonikowase.
00:49:50
tacklesandtinnies
right, that's why I'm the host.
00:49:50
Gary
Nawaka? Nawakas?
00:49:52
tacklesandtinnies
At least I got somewhat closer.
00:49:54
Gary
Nawakas?
00:49:55
tacklesandtinnies
Mark Nwanganisawase. Okay, I got it. So the Roosters dominated the first half, leading 14-0 at the break. Mark Nwanganisawase scored a spectacular solid try, showing his athleticism footwork.
00:50:11
tacklesandtinnies
Boys, can't wait to hear your take on this. However, he also made five errors, including three dropped high balls, which proved costly. The Bulldogs mounted a second-half comeback with tries from Kick-Out, Sexton, Cherry, and Burden.
00:50:23
tacklesandtinnies
and Burden sealed the win with a late try and conversion. So some key points. The Bulldogs' resilience and defensive grit were full and full display in the second half. The Roosters' inability to capitalize on early dominance and handling errors shifted momentum, and the match was a turning point for the Bulldogs who had been pressured to perform.
00:50:41
tacklesandtinnies
So some key quotes here. Matty Burden quoted, one of the grittiest games I've ever played. Our boys just kept turning up. We never go away. And Roosters coach Trent Robertson,
00:50:52
tacklesandtinnies
paraphrase this, but he acknowledged the team's strong start, but laminated the lack of composure and execution in the second half. Morgo, what are your thoughts on this game?..................
00:51:02
Morgan
I think it was probably the game of the round for me. It was obviously the Roosters got off to a pretty hot start and it was just, you just knew it was coming from the dogs as well. They've always played that really tough, gritty kind of style of footy where they beat you through the middle, death by a thousand cuts, I think they call it.
00:51:21
Morgan
That try was probably the most kind of sharp thing I've seen in a long time, just to have that aware where his foot was and put that kick through.
00:51:28
tacklesandtinnies
Hmm.
00:51:31
Morgan
And then manage to stay infield for the grounding was pretty incredible. So, yeah, definitely hats off to Mark. Not going to say the second name.
00:51:41
Gary
Thank you.
00:51:44
Morgan
Yeah, I think Rooster's probably... to his Like the try was amazing, but he had a pretty similar game to I think Derby from the Cows the week before. Just crucial errors that probably let them down in really bad field position as well. So, yeah, I think pretty 50-50 game from him.
00:52:06
Morgan
But, yeah.
00:52:07
tacklesandtinnies
Yep. Gaz, thoughts?
00:52:11
Gary
I don't think words can do this any justice. Hey, right. Like the try was like spectacular and it's just going to live like I'm playing it on my computer right now. And he's just going to live like rent free in my head, but just the, the way the athleticism, like the way that he kicks it kind of circles around, goes past the, like the line and then to get it right inside the trial line, like it.
00:52:37
Gary
Yeah. Spectacular.
00:52:42
tacklesandtinnies
i I could watch that try probably 100 times and still have my jaw dropping. Like, he was literally a pogo stick. I'd like to think I'm somewhat athletic, but if I was to pull that in that position at that time with that pressure, doing a double hop, kicking it around, having the awareness to run around the outside, get back in, and then change your body to pull it back in and then put it down,
00:53:08
tacklesandtinnies
The athleticism that required was just unreal.
00:53:11
Gary
Mm-hmm.
00:53:12
tacklesandtinnies
Like shot out to Marky Mark. Absolute gun. But yeah, as we talk on this show, mate, Bulldogs, they're killing it. They're first on the ladder for a reason. They've got that pedigree.
00:53:25
tacklesandtinnies
Steven Crichton's obviously helping that cause. He's been absolutely one of the best captains 2025. I'm pretty sure he's going to get that award at the end of the year.
00:53:34
tacklesandtinnies
they've got depth throughout the new entire season. and the entire team and Queensland sort of stolen their philosophy of having that mobile forward pack boys. So, and they've got guys still out. They've got Tupanul out. Curran was out.
00:53:47
tacklesandtinnies
they've got boys coming back. It would be interesting if Gus Gould does pull the trigger on Lockie Galvin, what happens in that spine.
00:53:58
tacklesandtinnies
Do they move burden? Does Sexton get dropped? Does he come off the bench? I don't know. That'll be an interesting one. But yeah, doggies keep doing well.
00:54:08
tacklesandtinnies
Roosters, inconsistent as always, but yeah, where they expect to be, that's for sure. Next game, boys. We've got New Zealand Warriors 16 to the Dolphins 12 at Suncorp Stadium.
00:54:20
tacklesandtinnies
So some match highlights here. The Warriors scored three tries through Nia Kauray, Capewell, and Laban. Metcalf converted two of those three tries, with the Dolphins mounted a late comeback, which tries to hammer in the 72nd minute and Herbie in the 78th minute.
00:54:34
tacklesandtinnies
And Asako converted those tries accordingly. So the key points here, the Warriors' fifth straight win seems in quite a second on the ladder. JFH Fisher-Harris was sin-bin the 77th minute, which sparked a Dolphins' late surge.
00:54:47
tacklesandtinnies
Fisher-Harris also got a two-match suspension for that. The Dolphins showed resilience in attacking f flyn in the last 10 minutes, but left their run way too late. Christian Wolfe, Dolphins coach, quoted, proud of the Finns for their late comeback. We showed Hart.
00:55:01
tacklesandtinnies
but we got to get the job earlier done. And Andrew Webster, Warriors coach, we're building nicely. The boys are backing each other and playing with confidence. Our origin hopefuls are stepping up.
00:55:13
tacklesandtinnies
Gazzy, thoughts on the Waz versus the Finns?
00:55:15
Gary
up the bars. Let's go. and Yeah, I think I watched the highlights of this game. don't remember it too well, but the Warriors, they're killing it.
00:55:26
Gary
Like five straight. like five it's It's exciting for the Warriors because they historically do really well early on the season.
00:55:37
Gary
And, you know, we're not even halfway there and they're absolutely killing it. Yeah. The Dolphins, they are a little bit slower to start.
00:55:51
Gary
Yeah, I think Lukey Metcalf, we meant talked about him earlier, but he's really like taking the bull by his horns and really just controlling the game. Yeah, great kicking game.
00:56:04
Gary
I'm starting to think, right, should i so bring him in? Is it time? Yeah.
00:56:10
tacklesandtinnies
Ask Jake, mate. He's already traded him twice.
00:56:13
Gary
Yeah, I think I'm contemplating, contemplating.
00:56:20
tacklesandtinnies
What are your thoughts, Morgas?
00:56:21
Morgan
Yeah, this game got exciting at the end. I think Warriors were pretty on top of things the pretty much until that 70th minute and then Finn started to come back a bit. I think Herbie's proved again the losing side that he's a world-class centre and still dominated in that position. But, yeah, obviously he couldn't get the job done.
00:56:45
Morgan
Warriors had a bit of a funny error that didn't get blown, though. Yeah. I think RTI down in their defensive end, straight up knock on.
00:56:52
tacklesandtinnies
no
00:56:55
Morgan
but don't know.
00:57:00
tacklesandtinnies
I forgot about that one. I'm glad you brought that up. Holy shit. That was just an absolute L by the ref.
00:57:04
Gary
Yes.
00:57:04
Morgan
Yeah.
00:57:06
tacklesandtinnies
Like, if you like look at this like the video again and you zoom in, RTS literally looks forward, eyes go like this, and then he's like, it's play on, like, absolutely cooked. Oh.
00:57:20
Morgan
Yeah, shock and cold.
00:57:25
tacklesandtinnies
But yeah, Waz too good. and It's good to see, obviously, after Shawnee Johnson retired, that, yeah, Luki Metcalf's taken that mantle. So up the Waz. And yeah, Finns are currently up boys 6-2. So we'll take that.
00:57:41
tacklesandtinnies
Manly Seagulls, 24 North Queensland Cowboys 6. And they'll play at Country Bank Stadium. So as the match highlights, the Seagulls dominated the match with a gritty defensive effort and clinical execution and attack.
00:57:52
tacklesandtinnies
Homolio LaKawatu was placing a report for a Scorpion tackle, raising concerns for his New South Wales fans. Obviously, he's in that extended squad, so but he'll be fine. The Cowboys' only a try came in late into the game, unable to break through Manly's defensive wall for most of the match.
00:58:07
tacklesandtinnies
Some key points here. So Tom Deardy got shifted to halfback in a crucial audition for Queensland origin spot, but struggled to make an impact. Jackson Perdue got shifted to five eight in place of Jack Clifford.
00:58:20
tacklesandtinnies
A move that drew scrutiny from post-match. And Todd Payton, Cowboys coach, defended selection and warned he may lose five players to origin, which could further that test squad depth. Key quotes here. We've got Todd Payton quoting, we're backing Jackson.
00:58:35
tacklesandtinnies
He's got the tools. He is a part of his development. He'll wear the short-term pain. And Matty Johnson, Fox lead. The DCE thing, you can't help but think it's serving a distraction.
00:58:45
tacklesandtinnies
referring to Cherry Evans' contract situation as potential impact on form. But hey, tell you what, Matty Johns, you shoved that right back in your face because he was very, very good. Morgan, what are your thoughts on the Manly Cowboys game?
00:58:59
Gary
I think Morgz is taking intermission. might be grabbing another drink. you
00:59:05
Morgan
right.
00:59:05
tacklesandtinnies
ah Tuck in, Gaz.
00:59:06
Gary
Yeah. Another drink, Morgz. How good. um Yeah. So, Scorpion tackle for Oluwatu. Glad that it's not too bad because, yeah, he's so was most likely going still play Origin.
00:59:22
Gary
and He's an absolute weapon. And when I hear Scorpion tackle, I'm like, I think it's Jakey. Tari Ferrari Joku. He's got scorpion tackle. He's really good at that one.
00:59:36
Gary
Joku, you should trademark that, by the way.
00:59:40
tacklesandtinnies
That's your opinion. I like it.
00:59:43
Gary
Yeah, think Seagulls doing pretty well, doing pretty good. Queensland Cowboys up and down.
00:59:52
Gary
yeah the The Cowboys a couple of weeks ago i had a really close game against the Panthers. So from there, you know not winning against the Seagulls, confidence is down probably a little bit, but At least for the Sea Eagles. I reckon, what what does everyone reckon? like They might be able to stay or maintain top eight towards the end of the season. and So that'll be a really interesting one to watch.
01:00:20
Gary
But yeah, really liking the Sea Eagles and their chances for the rest of the year.
01:00:26
tacklesandtinnies
go.
01:00:27
Morgan
Yeah, 100%. I think they've got the squad to to get into the eight and stay with it. Cows, I feel like they're the same. I don't know. didn't watch this game, but did they move Purdue to six for this one?
01:00:44
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, and so when I was reading that out, yeah, Purdue 6, Deirdre into 7, Clifford got dropped.
01:00:46
Morgan
Yeah. Yeah, I feel like Clifford, his kicking game is pretty irreplaceable. It's almost up there with... This is probably an exaggeration, but pretty similar to Burton's. He's got a great long kicking game, good high ball, and Dearden doesn't quite have that. So I think they complement each other pretty well. But yeah, I wonder if this had much of an effect on the game.
01:01:09
Morgan
Obviously, Eagles have got plenty of strike and plenty of speed as well out wide and have someone like Purdue kind of sitting in the middle more. It's probably at their detriment in defence as well.
01:01:22
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, that's fair call. But I don't know if you knew this, boys, but coming through Purdue is actually a ah half. So he hasn't really had much experience at centre, which is even more kudos to him because he's been absolutely braining at centre.
01:01:36
tacklesandtinnies
I think it was worth the gamble. I think Clifford obviously pretty hard done by getting dropped. But... Yeah, Deirdre, he was so close in that origin spot. I think it was worth the chance sort of as a coach, like here's your one final crack to sort of get that Queensland starting jersey.
01:01:52
tacklesandtinnies
Don't mind that from Todd Payton back in his boy. But also Purdue getting more born, actually getting shifted back to his natural position at five eight I don't hate it. And I think obviously there probably will be some growing pains as Payton has quoted.
01:02:05
tacklesandtinnies
But I think long term, I froth that. I think it's pretty good. But also you Drinkwater there. He's a bloody great playmaker slash kicker in his own right. So i think the problem was, I think the Cowboys are just off that game.
01:02:19
tacklesandtinnies
Drinkwater's been absolutely brain in super coach, getting hundreds after a hundred for the past like month. I think he got 14 points. So he absolutely stunk it up. So when your staff fullbacks not doing anything, it's going very hard to win a game.
01:02:34
tacklesandtinnies
But that also contradicts what i'm about to say because Tommy Turbo probably had one of the worst games of his life. He had like five errors, probably two botched tries. He doesn't look too red hot and healthy and probably one of the main reasons why he didn't get picked for New South Wales.
01:02:52
tacklesandtinnies
But I actually have traded him in for Supercoat. So Tommy Turbo, ride or die, baby.
01:02:56
Gary
Thank you.
01:02:59
tacklesandtinnies
What are your thoughts on Turbo not making Origin boys? Morgo, thoughts?
01:03:03
Morgan
I think he's similar to Luttrell. They both play a roving role in the middle there and I'm sure he'll be missed in some capacity.
01:03:06
tacklesandtinnies
Kaz?
01:03:12
Morgan
I think when he's in form, he's probably the best player in the comp. So, big loss.
01:03:22
Gary
Yes. Well, very similar to Morgz.
01:03:22
tacklesandtinnies
yeah
01:03:24
Gary
Like, he's an excellent player. So, at fullback, you know, between him and Dylan Edwards, you could have gone, you could have flipped a coin and gone either way and both would have been excellent choices.
01:03:37
Gary
Yeah. Yeah.
01:03:41
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
01:03:42
Morgan
Bye.
01:03:44
tacklesandtinnies
All right, next game, boys. This was a bit of an upset here. Sharky's 31, Storm 26 at Shark Park. So some match highlights here. The match was a high-octane thriller with both teams trading blows in a fast-paced contest.
01:03:58
tacklesandtinnies
Xavier Coach scored what was many calling a try-the-year contender, showcasing incredible athleticism and finishing ability, absolutely dunking on someone. Nico Hines was instrumental for the Sharks, guiding the team with a sharp kicking game in game management.
01:04:13
tacklesandtinnies
The Sharks held off a storm late search to secure the win with a field goal, sealing the final margin. There's some key points here. The win was described as a perfect script by Coach Craig Fitzgibbon, embodying the grit and attacking flair he wants from his side.
01:04:26
tacklesandtinnies
The Storm's defense was exposed on the edges and their discipline faltered at key moments. The Sharks' resilience under pressure and ability to close out tight games continues to impress.
01:04:38
tacklesandtinnies
So Coach Fitzgibbon for the Sharks quoted, if you ask me to draw up a win that typifies what the we're building here, this would be it. Xavier Coates paraphrased but said, express pride in his try but emphasize the need for the team to tighten up defensively.
01:04:54
tacklesandtinnies
Boys, i don't know where to start but holy shit, like Xavier Coates' tries, one of the, like Marky Mark was pretty good in his own right running around but holy moly, Xavier Coates actually like dunked on someone. He got on someone's shoulder and came down slam dunked it.
01:05:09
tacklesandtinnies
What are thoughts Morgz?
01:05:11
Morgan
I think the Greek Freak did something pretty similar against the Knicks about five years ago. Definitely a highlight worth watching, just straight up cleared them to dunk it.
01:05:21
Gary
Mm-hmm.
01:05:22
Morgan
So, yeah, worth watching. But, yeah, was an amazing try. It really good game as well. This is probably one that rivals that Doggies Roosters one too. Yeah, I don't know what went wrong for the Storm, to be honest. They had pretty good possession. It was pretty even throughout the game and I guess the score kind of reflects that. But just that they were lacking polish in in parts that I thought they've had in the previous weeks and probably victim of having that really solid game against the Tigers the week before maybe came out a bit complacent and expected it to be kind of handed to them. But, yeah.
01:06:01
Morgan
Great game. Adam Fanour was outstanding as well through the middle.
01:06:04
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. could
01:06:05
Morgan
I think he had so much to that Granola team. And obviously Nico had a really good game as well, which is rare from him this year.
01:06:15
Morgan
So hopefully it's something to come.
01:06:18
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
01:06:20
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. Standard Ryan, rage trading and a player does good in super coach. Gaz, thoughts?
01:06:25
Gary
my main focus is the try of the year like with Xavier Coates shout out to Xavier Coates local Marymount boy so local talent i am I am praying to God that he comes back to the Gold Coast Titans or the Suns so you heard it first Xavier Coates to the Suns or the Titans But yeah, that what that had Israel Folau.
01:06:48
Gary
You can't even compare because they're different people. But like yeah, eat your heart out. Israel Folau. Xavier Coates getting up there. taken it was like um It was a mark. Because he he his knee, Xavier Coates' knee was on whoever's shoulder.
01:07:00
tacklesandtinnies
It was a mark.
01:07:04
Gary
That's how high up he got. So yeah, excellent try. Yeah, great game. I think the Sharkies, to me.
01:07:13
tacklesandtinnies
but Imagine jumping up there, bro. Like you're up there, you've caught the ball above your head and then you still got to come down with the ball and put it down. Like unreal.
01:07:23
Gary
Yeah, that's scary. That's like a roller coaster ride. And if you're Xavier Coates, you're that tall, you're like seven foot. It's like the giant drop at Dreamworld. You know what I'm saying?
01:07:36
Gary
But yeah, no, now great game. And Cronulla Sharks, moving forward, like they they're not losing anyone to Origin. So yeah, good couple of rounds for Cronulla Sharks.
01:07:36
tacklesandtinnies
ne vicent
01:07:47
Morgan
you
01:07:48
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, I think they're going to be climbing up the ladder and I think Storm might be dropping obviously with their, or couple of their big boys going. Storm, I think we start there boys. They're, they've been very hit and miss the past month. I think we can all agree with that.
01:08:03
tacklesandtinnies
They're sort of either pumping a team and they're not even close. Or these tight ones where they should be getting the win, they're not getting over the line, which is quite concerning because obviously it's good that you can put points on a team, but if you can't defend or you can't chase the points when needed, that would be concerning for Craig Bellamy.
01:08:23
tacklesandtinnies
You can't always just flick the switch. doesn't always work. So it's almost a loss that they needed, I think, as a as a Storm fan. but again sharks unreal they've been a top we've said it every week on the podcast gazzy they're a top 14 for like the past four years and got to give a shout out to the culture and coaching of sharks team so craig gives them big shout out to you mate well done and they had few injuries too in their outside back so sam stoner as mentioned in physio corner gaz he's out six to eight weeks
01:08:55
tacklesandtinnies
One of the centers went out. So he actually had Talakai shift to the centers and Daniel Axkinson, who's a half, went to the wing and they still won. So, yeah, awesome by them.
01:09:06
tacklesandtinnies
Good job. Sharky's killing it. And it's good to see, obviously, Nico Hines, such a good dude, getting some form back. So, yeah, well done, Sharky's. And as you said, AFB, absolutely braining it.
01:09:15
Morgan
I think I forgot to mention, Ryan, the name of Ronaldo Miletalo.
01:09:17
tacklesandtinnies
So, yeah, mate.
01:09:21
Morgan
it was and He moved over to Xavier's side in the dying minutes, and I think that might have ultimately got them over the line. Obviously, Xavier's such a threat in the air, and Ronaldo's got that extra bit of hide on him too.
01:09:36
Morgan
So, yeah, it was all to see.
01:09:38
tacklesandtinnies
yep Yeah.
01:09:38
Morgan
And, yeah, great to see the passion coming from him too. He's probably one of the most skilled wingers in the comp. So, yeah. Yeah. They have his flowers.
01:09:47
tacklesandtinnies
And... Oh, 100%. And on Morgo, like, we talked about origin eligibility probably about a month ago. don't if you're calling the episode. But Muatalu actually was an under-20s Queensland player, which is just baffling because he should be playing for Queensland probably this week.
01:10:04
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. Yeah, that's another conversation for another day. But yeah, 100%. Ronaldo Moutalo, he's very Luai-esque in terms of the energy that he brings to a team and that culture.
01:10:16
tacklesandtinnies
Unreal. He's such a good player. Yeah, great analysis there, mate. Next game, boys. So we've got Dragons 30, Broncos 26 at Suncorp Stadium.
01:10:27
tacklesandtinnies
So some match highlights. The Dragons got off to a blistering start with Lawson scoring the first minute. Lawson set up two more tries for Fainu and three more line breaks in 142 metres.
01:10:38
tacklesandtinnies
The Broncos fought back with two tries from Ezra Mann and Selwyn Cobbo, but the defence couldn't contain the Dragons' early momentum. The match remained tight until the final whistle with both teams trading tries in the second half.
01:10:50
tacklesandtinnies
Some key points here, the Dragons' fast start and attacking combinations proved decisive. We had a standout performer in both attack and defence and obviously some lapses in defence in the Broncos in the first 20 minutes, which really affected the Broncos long-term in that game.
01:11:07
tacklesandtinnies
Key quotes here, we've got Flanagan paraphrasing here, but praise the team's energy and execution late in the match, calling it the best finish we've had all year. And Coach Manbeguire, the Broncos coach, paraphrased, but acknowledged the fight back but said, we can't afford to give away leads like that.
01:11:24
tacklesandtinnies
Boys, couple of things here. Obviously, there was Ezra Mann's first game back after his suspension. So that was obviously going to be controversial as it was. But I'll tell you what, if Ezra Mann was not there, Broncos would have been shot because he absolutely carried that team.
01:11:40
tacklesandtinnies
He did a Reece Walsh-esque Tom Brady pass, which led to a try for Shibasaki. But yeah, carved him up. Really, really good. Great couple of tries there.
01:11:52
tacklesandtinnies
But Dragons, unreal. Like Clint Gutherson, fantastic leadership. The old man still got some speed in those legs, which is good to see. the passion and leadership that he was showing, fantastic.
01:12:04
tacklesandtinnies
I thought this was Damian Cook's probably best game. He was unreal. But the whole Dragons team, underdogs, and they just put it to the Broncos. So well done, Dragons. What he thoughts, Morgz?
01:12:15
Morgan
Yeah, I didn't watch this one either. I watched a couple of the replays of MAM's performance.
01:12:23
Morgan
act Great runner. That pass out to Shibasaki was pretty cool.
01:12:29
Morgan
But, yeah, I think I think it was one at halftime and, yeah, pretty shocking to see the comeback. So can't speak to the Dragons' performance, unfortunately, but obviously they've got the players there to...
01:12:29
tacklesandtinnies
and
01:12:44
Morgan
to really up front runners in this competition as well. I'm
01:12:49
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, 100%. Gaz, what are your thoughts, mate?
01:12:50
Morgan
on 10%, so I'm going to go get the charges sorted.
01:12:55
Morgan
Eric?
01:12:55
Gary
go go go um um very similar like brisbane broncos i love them because they're the team before the titans you know and sucks to see them not win but they're yeah they're they're missing something great that ezra man is back
01:12:55
tacklesandtinnies
Easy, mate. What's Gaz? What's Gaz? let's guys
01:13:19
Gary
But yeah, probably a bit more like just lapses, like what you mentioned before, like a lot of lapses in defense.
01:13:19
Morgan
Thank you.
01:13:25
Gary
And once you're once you're down and then, you know, it's it's hard to to climb back up. So it's like, yeah, I don't know what they need, but yeah, hoping them hoping they can get back up pretty pretty quickly.
01:13:42
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, well, Cobbo obviously had that injury, so he was swapping between wing and fullback. Adam Reynolds has been hit and miss. Obviously, Ben Hunt not being there at the moment, that's a bit of a loss.
01:13:51
Gary
Yeah.
01:13:53
tacklesandtinnies
But obviously, Reece Walsh too, he hasn't been there. He's obviously a dynamite X-Factor player. But there is something wrong with the Broncos, and I think, again, Origins coming at the best time for our this team and hopefully rejuvenate some of those guys.
01:14:08
tacklesandtinnies
But holy shit, Kane Haas in the last, I think, I think he was on 40 points on Supercoach or something close to, and then he jumped up to 82 points in three minutes.
01:14:15
Morgan
you but
01:14:17
tacklesandtinnies
Like literally almost single-handedly won the game in the last five minutes, which was insane.
01:14:21
Gary
Yeah, kudos.
01:14:25
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, 100%. Or scary for Queensland. ah Next Next game, guys.

Raiders' Triumph and Titans' Struggles

01:14:30
tacklesandtinnies
No, I don't want to talk about it, but Canberra Raiders 40, Gold Coast Titans 24.
01:14:31
Gary
Oh, no.
01:14:36
tacklesandtinnies
At Raiders Stadium, so G.I. Joe Stadium, So some match highlights. Xavier Savage started with a hat trick, led to the Raiders to a dominant win. The Raiders bounced back after disappointing loss in the previous week, showing sharp execution and energy from the outset.
01:14:51
tacklesandtinnies
The Titans managed to score 24 points, but were outclassed defensively, particularly in the first half. There's some key points here. The win was a statement performance for the Raiders, especially for players like Hudson Young, who was pushing for a origin selection, which he did.
01:15:06
tacklesandtinnies
And then obviously Corey Horsbaugh was very good, but actually missed out. The tightest defense was again under scrutiny with Des Hasler, reported furious frustration post-match.
01:15:16
Morgan
Thank you.
01:15:17
tacklesandtinnies
The result heaps pressure back onto Hasler despite a comeback a couple of weeks ago. Coach Des Hasler, his paraphrase here, but he quoted, slammed his team's effort defense, calling it unacceptable and warning that changes could be made if standards don't lift.
01:15:34
tacklesandtinnies
And Xavier Savage paraphrased this, but quoted, expressed pride in his performance and said that the team is focused on getting back to Raiders footy. Gazi, what are your thoughts on this game, mate?
01:15:45
Gary
Oh, goodness. I don't even know if I want to have thoughts on this game it was It was shocking. It wasn't... The Gold Coast Titans, they're they're great for 20 minutes and then they lose focus or they...
01:16:02
Gary
yeah, they just stop.
01:16:02
Morgan
you
01:16:04
Gary
And again, on the weekend is exactly what happened, like against the Raiders.
01:16:12
Gary
Yeah, just, it didn't go the the way that the fans would have thought, but like shout out to the Canberra Raiders. They're doing awesome this season.
01:16:24
Gary
So i guess in the, In the back of my mind, I knew kind of the result was going to be like this. But when the Titans play, I always have that little inkling of hope.
01:16:35
tacklesandtinnies
Thank
01:16:37
Gary
and So, yeah.
01:16:41
Gary
i think Tino's always a standout. plays with his heart on his sleeve. And then Maui Fodaweka, well, the two chosen for Origin. Like, yeah. It's... yeah Yeah, a little bit disappointing, but I don't know if the du boys, they'll play with their heart.
01:17:01
Gary
they They got them next week.
01:17:04
tacklesandtinnies
So optimistic. Morgz, are your thoughts on the Raiders, Titans?
01:17:07
Morgan
I probably don't share the same optimism you do the Titans, Gary, unfortunately. I think, yeah, Ricky's team is just on paper. Like there's there's no real kind of standout, starry, flashy players there, but they all just do a job and they do it well.
01:17:25
Morgan
You've obviously got Hudson Young there with his ball play and his offloads in the forward pack as well, which contributes so much to their offense. And, yeah,
01:17:36
Morgan
Yeah, I think Savage obviously had a blinder, but Ethan Strange there at compliments Fogarty so well. He's got such a good running game and lays on a lot of points for that team.
01:17:49
Morgan
Titans' defence is just deplorable. I think they should be relevant right now. I don't know what's going on, but they are so bad. Sorry, guys.
01:18:01
Gary
you're not wrong Wolf you're not wrong you're
01:18:03
tacklesandtinnies
oh
01:18:03
Morgan
Played right into...
01:18:05
tacklesandtinnies
is
01:18:05
Morgan
i house I think he had a team of 17 weak gutted dogs to play against.
01:18:11
Gary
not
01:18:12
Morgan
I've loved it.
01:18:15
Gary
wrong
01:18:18
tacklesandtinnies
They're just... They're infuriating to watch. Like, there's just some blokes on that team who are just... should not be there. Like they should just not be there. I think the squad balance now that I keep thinking about the squad balance just is not there for the Titans. Like they're so top heavy in one position, like we'll say the fullback, uh, five, eight position.
01:18:40
tacklesandtinnies
And then they're top heavy in their second row in regards to Tino for more, Sorry, not their second row. I'll actually rephrase that. They're stacked in their front row.
01:18:50
tacklesandtinnies
They're lacking in their second row slash lock position. And their center wings are just not it. There's Sami, who's all right. They're just mid. They're all mid. Like, we where's our dynamic outside back, who's our strike weapon?
01:19:05
tacklesandtinnies
Obviously, our fullbacks are but pretty gunned, but... Yeah, I think the squad balance is just not there. We talked a couple of weeks ago, Gazi, with Fafida potentially leaving. If he could leave so we can get two other guys on 600K who could get that squad balance a little bit better, think that'd actually be the best thing for the Titans.
01:19:23
Gary
Yeah, totally agree.
01:19:23
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. yeah Yeah, and again...
01:19:25
Gary
Like if if I was the CEO, well, if you were the CEO, right, what would you what would you do? Because I totally agree that the forward pack is good, is great. And then the the backs, like Brian Kelly and Philip Samy on on the two centers, like 100%, they're mid.
01:19:44
Gary
It's like Rabideaus. They've got Luttrell, like great center, plays fullback. We need... like a center fullback that is explosive, that can score a try from from anywhere.
01:19:57
Gary
know AJ can, but yeah, you just need ah one of those strike weapons.
01:20:03
tacklesandtinnies
Can I give you two names, Gaz?
01:20:03
Gary
Yeah.
01:20:05
tacklesandtinnies
Jermaine Asako and Greg Marju. We had them both and they're both gone. So
01:20:09
Gary
hu It's a constant nightmare.
01:20:14
Gary
Yeah.
01:20:14
tacklesandtinnies
it's just, yeah, it's infuriating. Like the squad balance is just not there. And I don't know what it is, but if you can clear some cap space, I i love RCG in a nutshell, but we did not need him.
01:20:29
tacklesandtinnies
Like we did not need another front row. We got so many forwards. definitely could have spent that $700,000 somewhere else. And obviously the intangibles that he brings, you can't pay for, but you can in the outside backs.
01:20:43
tacklesandtinnies
But yeah,

Rabideaus' Victory and Player Highlights

01:20:44
tacklesandtinnies
enough of the Titans.
01:20:45
Gary
Thank you.
01:20:45
tacklesandtinnies
We need to give some Raiders some love. The Raiders were, yeah, unreal. They're top four team. Wouldn't be surprised if they're there in the grand final. think their squad balance is actually really, really good. They've got heaps of depth throughout their pack.
01:20:58
tacklesandtinnies
Obviously, Matty Nicholson went down. Zach Hoskin goes back into second row. He absolutely brains it. You've got Tarpanay there. Fogarty's been absolutely unreal with that last season there. As you mentioned, Morgz, that straight out Ethan Strange combination is really, really good.
01:21:13
tacklesandtinnies
I think KO Weeks is coming to his own in the past couple of weeks. He's been absolutely awesome. But they're wingers like Savage, Athletic Beast, Tamale, Athletic Beast.
01:21:24
tacklesandtinnies
And then you've got Sebastian Chris, strong, powerful, good defensive center. Timoko, strong, powerful, good defensive center. and both do Both pretty athletic as well. That's what we need and that's what the Titans need. But Raiders have locked that in. They're killing it.
01:21:38
tacklesandtinnies
Well done to them. think Tom Starling's been an absolute revelation at Hooker this year. He's been awesome. I'd love to see him come to the Titans. I keep bringing back to the Titans because I've got a love for him.
01:21:49
tacklesandtinnies
But shout out to Ricky Stewart and the coaching staff of the Raiders. They're absolutely killing If you're a Raiders fan, you'd be absolutely laughing this year.
01:21:57
tacklesandtinnies
So last game the round, Morg, and I can't wait to hear your point of view because you're the yeah you're the di diehard here. But South Sydney Rabideaus, 22 to the West Tigers, 12 at Campbelltown.
01:22:09
tacklesandtinnies
So some match highlights here. The Rabideaus took control with a try either side of halftime, pushing the score to 16 to 12 11 minutes left. A late try sealed the win for South, showered ah so who showed greater composure in the closing stages.
01:22:23
tacklesandtinnies
The Tigers were competitive throughout but couldn't convert pressure into points in the second half. Some key points. The Rabideau's defensive structure held firm under sustained pressure.
01:22:34
tacklesandtinnies
The Tigers' attack lacked polish in key moments despite promising build-up play. The result keeps South in the hunt for the top eight spot while the Tigers continue to search for consistency.
01:22:45
tacklesandtinnies
Some key quotes here from Benji Marshall, the Tigers coach, who paraphrased. He acknowledged the effort but said the team needs to muster consistency and be smarter with the ball with more clinical execution.
01:22:57
tacklesandtinnies
And Latrell Mitchell, Rabidos player, paraphrased this, but praised the team's resilience and said they're building momentum at the right time. Morgo, you're the Rabidos fan.
01:23:09
tacklesandtinnies
Let's hear your thoughts.
01:23:10
Morgan
This game was a bit of a grind to watch, to be honest. I think after seeing the Tigers play the week before, I thought 70-0 wasn't outside of the realm of possibility, but wet weather and stuff played a part in this one.
01:23:27
Morgan
Yeah, I think both teams were pretty error-riddled throughout the game. No one could get some good ball,
01:23:36
Morgan
Latrell played pretty solidly throughout. I think when I look at his fullback play this year compared to the same time last year, I don't think he gets to those spots particularly defensively.
01:23:47
Morgan
was able to recover a lot of ball, break a couple of tackles early, which I think got us on the front foot, which might have been the difference in the end. And obviously Keon running for almost 300 metres, good bunch of offloads, plenty of tackles as well, really helps. So, yeah, I think Sousa really onto something with Keon and Jai playing in the middle.
01:24:11
Morgan
Tartola's probably a little way off in terms of his match fitness and confidence with that injury that came into the season with. But, yeah, stoked with the result.
01:24:22
Morgan
Yeah. But yeah, not not as polished as I would have liked.
01:24:27
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, fair call. Gaz, thoughts?
01:24:30
Gary
Yeah. Um, South Sydney kudos to the rabbitos. cause yeah, they had a great game. Uh, I remember watching this last one and, um, I remember also cheering the rabbits on do have a soft spot for them.
01:24:44
Gary
Yeah, I agree with Morgz. So like Luttrell in previous years, he looked quite lethargic or at least trying to get to the ball, he'd be a bit slow.
01:24:55
Gary
Whereas this year, he's getting to those yeah key key spots like a lot quicker and he's making the... the effort to get there as well. So it's like a change in his like physical fitness and on also his like mentality to, which which is great. So yeah, it's yeah. Good on the, good on the rabbitos.
01:25:17
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. ah Rabideaux is finally coming to bit a little bit of form here. And obviously on the back of Latrell Mitchell's expertise and legendary status, that's for sure. He's after that field goalie that he did, I think he's certainly gained some confidence after that.
01:25:34
tacklesandtinnies
As you said, Morgan, i actually loved that shout with Jai Arrow and Kulmatangi in the middle. I've never rated Jai Arrow on an edge. But those two boys in the middle, really mobile but super strong in contact and good defensively.
01:25:49
tacklesandtinnies
i think that's definitely going to unlock the team moving forward for sure. And you can have big boys like Tertola and Mowali coming off the bench and doing a role. Morgz, I want to hear from you in regards to the Jai Gray situation.
01:26:03
tacklesandtinnies
dry grey situation
01:26:05
Morgan
don't know. At times this season, I've thought maybe he is the fullback. But then when I think when they've shared a field, Jai just doesn't attract that same attention from defenders that Luttrell does. I think Luttrell's way better at creating opportunities for other players, whereas Jai is that kind of all-out ball-runner.
01:26:27
Morgan
I think even in the game we just watched, scooting out of half, hey he makes a lot of opportunities for himself. He's really quick and can get around that A defender really easily. But yeah, in terms of creating opportunities for other players on the team, I don't think he does the job quite as well.
01:26:45
Morgan
I know they've talked about him as a six, which I can see happen in the next couple of years. but Cody Walker obviously aging out and Bud Sullivan on loan but yeah I think it remains to be seen he's obviously ah ah an amazing player and I don't want to lose him but yeah at the moment I think we've got our team where we need it
01:27:04
tacklesandtinnies
So do you currently like his role, sort of that off the bench, but just play his hooker?
01:27:10
Morgan
I think he still has an impact from there like I don't think you can leave him out to be honest he He offers that point of difference on the bench as well.
01:27:17
tacklesandtinnies
Hmm.
01:27:19
Morgan
And I think we've got Havili that's doing a job at hooker at the moment. But when Mamazolas comes back, Havili will just go back into that kind of middle role, which he plays really well.
01:27:31
Morgan
But yeah, feeling that for Jai. I think he's he's got a great future ahead of him and really good footing player. So see how things go. It would be a shame to see him left out of the team.
01:27:44
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. So do reckon just utility rest of the year?
01:27:47
Morgan
Yeah, 100% utility. you
01:27:50
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
01:27:50
Morgan
Half.
01:27:52
tacklesandtinnies
I'd like to see him at another crack at five eight Like Bud Sutherland's all right, but again, he's not there next year. So you almost only want to put Bud in if there's injuries almost.
01:28:02
tacklesandtinnies
Like may as well give Jai Gray that shot and see if it actually works long-term, especially with Cody Walker with the, think it's a hamstring injury. Is that right, Morgz?
01:28:09
Morgan
Yeah.
01:28:10
tacklesandtinnies
Do you know?
01:28:11
Morgan
Hamstring.
01:28:12
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
01:28:14
Morgan
Have to double check.
01:28:15
tacklesandtinnies
Sorry?
01:28:15
Morgan
A hamstring or a calf, I forget which one.
01:28:18
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. Yeah, probably both. Oh, man. What are your thoughts on dry grey, Gaz, utility role?
01:28:25
Gary
and
01:28:27
Gary
Yeah, with Jai Gray, a great player at fullback, but putting him into utility, He's played dummy half and has an e-hooker before.
01:28:40
Gary
So like if he's done that, he can bring some, you know, at 14, attacking flair here and there.
01:28:41
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
01:28:48
Gary
bit like a Damien Cook, like a bit of a cookie.
01:28:53
Gary
But yeah, would be good.
01:28:56
Morgan
Tigers were getting lot of post-contact metres on him, I noticed.
01:28:58
tacklesandtinnies
and
01:29:00
Morgan
One other thing I picked up on, I think he was trying to defend Terrell May a bit and having a very hard time.
01:29:08
tacklesandtinnies
well a lot people do that's why he should have been an origin so so um if kion keeps playing the way he is morgues and there's a injury in the new south wales pack does kion just go straight in
01:29:21
Morgan
I don't know. I think he's he's probably in the race with, Terrell May I think watching that game he probably had more and more of an impact on the result than May did May obviously ran a lot of metres, made a lot of tackles but some of his offensive plays offloads and stuff went a bit awry whereas Keon's were really well executed but again I think Terrell is probably the if he's playing bad, Tigers don't do anything in that game so
01:29:53
tacklesandtinnies
yeah fair yeah and obviously Ola Kwatu is still in that conversation as well so it's a pretty nice luxury to have three guys like that where I think it'll almost be walk-up starts for some of those uh boys in the Queensland pack currently but
01:29:53
Morgan
Hard call.
01:30:08
tacklesandtinnies
Oh, well, that's why we're the underdogs, and we love it that way.

Upcoming Game Predictions

01:30:12
tacklesandtinnies
But, boys, that's the round 11 matches done. We're going to go straight into cap or fact. So, Morgz, I'll just give you the quick rundown.
01:30:20
tacklesandtinnies
ChatGPT has given us the yeah predictions for the game. I'm going to read out their analysis, why, and then we're going to go around the room and see if that's cap or fact. So, the round 12 currently happening right now.
01:30:33
tacklesandtinnies
And I believe the Dolphins are up 8-6. But the prediction currently is Chachidi has predicted the Bulldogs 26 to the Dolphins 16.
01:30:37
Gary
Come
01:30:43
tacklesandtinnies
Their reasoning is the Bulldogs have been dominant home, boasting a 4-1 record at a core state in the season. The Dolphins have struggled on the road, losing their first sorry losing their last three away games.
01:30:55
tacklesandtinnies
Morgan Kapilfak.
01:30:56
Morgan
Well, you've given me the spoiler, Ryan, so I'm going to say cap. Yeah, don't Bulldogs are probably missing a couple of players to origin at the moment. Obviously, King cried a big out for them, but yeah, Finns, yeah, I don't know.
01:31:09
tacklesandtinnies
Critter? Yep.
01:31:13
Morgan
i I thought they'd be pretty evenly balanced, be a close one.
01:31:18
tacklesandtinnies
Guys, cap effect.
01:31:20
Gary
Definitely cap, fins up.
01:31:24
Gary
Yeah, cap for that one. Like Morgan said, a couple of players out for the Bulldogs to origin. So, yeah, up the fins.
01:31:34
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, I think I'd tip the doggies, but obviously as a Queensland supporter, we'll just go fins up too.
01:31:39
Gary
Yeah.
01:31:39
tacklesandtinnies
So yeah, we'll call cap. Next game, we've got Eels-Sea Eagles. So Chachipideos predicted the Sea Eagles 24 to the Eels 18. Their reasoning is the Sea Eagles have won four of the last five encounters against the Eels.
01:31:53
tacklesandtinnies
The Eels' defense has been leaky of late, conceding an average of 22 points per game. Gaz, cap or fact?
01:32:00
Gary
I reckon for this one, yeah, i'mnna go I'm going to go Chachi Ruti. I'm going to Fax. reckon Seagulls in their current form. Both coming off wins, but yeah, Seagulls, I reckon they've got it in the bag.
01:32:18
tacklesandtinnies
Morgs, capital fact.
01:32:18
Morgan
I reckon fact for that one. I think our Eagles are only missing DCE for this one.
01:32:27
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, believe so. And Nolakowatu got returned back, I believe.
01:32:29
Morgan
Yeah, they've still got plenty of strike, and I think the Eels have kind of peaked at the wrong time for them.
01:32:31
Gary
Yeah. Yeah.
01:32:35
Morgan
You see a couple of players lost to Origins, so yeah, I think the Eagles maybe win even more.
01:32:37
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
01:32:44
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. I'm going to say I'm going to fact as well. Half the reason is I've got Ola Kawah to Ruben Garrick and as of this week, Tommy Turbo in my super coach team.
01:32:55
tacklesandtinnies
So I hope the Seagulls absolutely blitz in and put 80 points on, including a five-try performance by Tom Turbo.
01:33:01
Gary
Okay.
01:33:04
tacklesandtinnies
that's a bit selfish there. Next game, Chachip D is predicted. The Panthers 20 to the Knights 14. Reasons being, despite recent struggles, the Panthers have a strong record against the Knights,
01:33:15
tacklesandtinnies
winning six of the last seven matches. The Knights have been inconsistent, especially in away games. Morgz, capital fact.
01:33:21
Morgan
I reckon cap for this one. Panthers are missing a lot of players and Knights are probably only missing Ponga out of this squad. So it'll be interesting to see how they go.
01:33:30
tacklesandtinnies
Yep.
01:33:34
Morgan
They've switched up with the fullback. So it'll be interesting to see how they go there as well. Yeah, definite cap.
01:33:43
tacklesandtinnies
Gaz, capital fact.
01:33:44
Gary
I'm going to go against Morgz and say Fax. Fax. so Yeah, Panthers are going to win it only because ah the betting odds are in the Panthers' favourites.
01:34:00
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, Morgz, I think I'm going to side with you, brother. I'm going to say Cap. A pretty handy replacement with Fletcher Sharp going straight back to fullback with Gamble and Cogger in the halves. and think that's a bit more balanced of a team. And as you said, Morgz, there's like probably, what, four guys of origin and like two late scratchings with Gardner and Papalihi.
01:34:20
tacklesandtinnies
So, yeah, they're really decimated and then they'll really be testing their depth. And as as Chris likes to say on the Fantasy Files section of this show, I'm going to Casey McClough hands is back. So I don't think they'll be scoring many he tries that side of the field.
01:34:34
tacklesandtinnies
So I'm going say cap. Next game, got Roosters Sharks. so Chachipitia has predicted the Sharks 22 to the Roosters 20. twenty So the Sharks have been impressive on the road, winning their last three away games.
01:34:48
tacklesandtinnies
And the Roosters have shown vulnerabilities in close matches this season. Morgz, cap a fact.
01:34:54
Morgan
I'd probably say fact for this one. I think both of them are pretty solid in terms of squad line-up. Sharkies are pretty much unchanged from last week, so I think they'll get the job done.
01:35:07
tacklesandtinnies
yeah
01:35:10
tacklesandtinnies
Yep. 100%. Gaz? Hmm.
01:35:11
Gary
Yeah, same thing.
01:35:11
tacklesandtinnies
as
01:35:12
Gary
Facts, straight facts with this one. Unchanged lineup for the Sharks. And I think it's going to be close too. So like, it'd be interesting because Chachi BT might be right in terms of like a couple of points in it.
01:35:24
Gary
Probably like within, you know, a converted try.
01:35:28
tacklesandtinnies
I'm going to say facts as well for sure, but I think the Sharks going absolutely dominate yum the Roosters. The Roosters are missing so many book guys, and I think it's just a forward pack's comparison.
01:35:40
tacklesandtinnies
If you go through the team list, which I haven't got in front of me, but there's a lot of no-name guys in that current Roosters forward pack comparatively to... The Sharkies, AFB obviously had a huge performance. And I think losing Nafade White last week, the Roosters, huge loss, huge loss.
01:35:57
tacklesandtinnies
And obviously Gus Croydon's not there either. So yeah, they're going struggling, I reckon. Yeah, Sharkies are going to be looking to find some blood in the water. And the last game of the round with the Warriors versus the Raiders,
01:36:10
tacklesandtinnies
Chatsh Gbt has predicted the Warriors 28 to the yeah Raiders 16. Reasons being, the Warriors have been formidable at home with a 5-0 record at Go Media Stadium. And the Raiders have struggled defensively see an average of 24 points per game.
01:36:26
tacklesandtinnies
Morgz, KappaFact.
01:36:28
Morgan
reckon this is the hardest one of the round, to be honest. Warriors wins haven't been convincing. as As good as they've been and at getting the job done, I don't think they've won anything in a grind. And Raiders, I don't know, that the win they had last week was pretty spectacular. So we'll see how they go.
01:36:49
Morgan
i think i think Cap,
01:36:52
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, it's a tough one.
01:36:52
Morgan
if anything, it'll be closer.
01:36:53
tacklesandtinnies
Guys?
01:36:54
Gary
Yeah, yeah.
01:36:56
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
01:36:56
Gary
I think it's going to be closer than what Chachupiti has said. um um I'm up the wires. I'm going for the Warriors. Second versus third. So, yeah, very interesting one to to watch. And I think this one will be I'll be watching this one with a keen eye.
01:37:14
Morgan
Thank you.
01:37:15
Gary
But, yeah, yeah, up the wires.
01:37:17
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. I'm actually going to say cap. I think the Raiders haven't really been affected by Origin as to the way Warriors. But I think the Raiders are looking really, really strong.
01:37:31
tacklesandtinnies
I think their forward pack is going to be a little bit better than the Warriors. I think loser Fisher-Harris is a big loss for the Warriors. And I'm loving what the Jamal Fogarty is currently doing for the Raiders. I think, again, a tie to fair. I agree with you boys.
01:37:46
tacklesandtinnies
But I'm to cap. that's Kappa Fak for round 12 in Morgo. I'm gonna hear your tips shortly, but Gazzy, we're looking at our last week's betting.
01:37:56
tacklesandtinnies
So Knights versus Eels, Gaz, we both tipped the Knights who were wrong there. Dogs versus the Roosters, we both tipped the Dogs. Fins versus the Warriors, we both tipped the Warriors, which is correct.
01:38:07
tacklesandtinnies
Cowboys Manly, both tipped Cowboys. Manly were correct mainly the right answer, which we got the wrong. Sharks versus Storm, both tipped the Storm, which was incorrect. Broncos vs Dragons, which the Broncos, Gaz, and were both incorrect.
01:38:21
tacklesandtinnies
Raiders vs Titans, this was the controversial call because clipped myself up and put in the group chat and I said i was going to bet against the Titans because actually worked the previous week. Unfortunately, my strategy was not good, but the Raiders won, so I got that right, Gaz.
01:38:38
tacklesandtinnies
And then the Tigers vs the Rabbits, we both tipped the Rabbitohs. so Our bold predictions, guys, you got none, but you said Hamadie get a double against the Warriors, which was incorrect.
01:38:49
tacklesandtinnies
You said Tom Deere to get 80-plus points as Supercoach. That was incorrect. And you said Payne Haas get a double and the Broncos to win. That was also incorrect. However, I said three of the four Queensland teams to win.
01:39:01
tacklesandtinnies
Incorrect. I said Broncos to win and both Broncos win against the score. Incorrect. But I said one player will get a hat trick and my boy x Xavier Savage will he got a hat trick, so he got me one bonus point.
01:39:14
tacklesandtinnies
Which means, Gaz, for round 11, you scored four points and I scored six points, which means for the season, Gary, you're on 46 points and I'm on 48. So, Gary, need to get that triathlon training going again, mate, because I'm back.
01:39:32
Gary
I'm just typing to Google now. Is there a marathon in Gold Coast end of the year? No. Yeah, that's... yeah You're tipping with your head. I like it, right? I like it.
01:39:47
Gary
I'm just going to keep going Titans for the rest of the year and see how we go.
01:39:53
tacklesandtinnies
the The strategy was not working this week, but something had to change.
01:39:55
Gary
Yeah.
01:39:58
tacklesandtinnies
All right, boys, we got round 12 tips. So dogs versus fins. Gary, who have you got?
01:40:05
Gary
What did I say before? I think I went to Finn.
01:40:11
tacklesandtinnies
You went fins up, didn't you?
01:40:11
Gary
Yeah.
01:40:13
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. Morgz, who you got?
01:40:16
Morgan
I'm not watching the game right now, but I think Finn's up.
01:40:20
Gary
Finn's up.
01:40:20
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. Eels, Manly, Gaz.
01:40:23
Gary
I went mainly for that one.
01:40:27
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, I've also got Manly.
01:40:30
Morgan
But I think I'm...
01:40:31
tacklesandtinnies
And Morgz, who you got?
01:40:32
Morgan
Oh, I'd love the Eels to win, but I think I'll go Manly.
01:40:36
tacklesandtinnies
Yep. Panthers versus Knights. I've got Panthers.
01:40:40
Gary
Panthers as well.
01:40:40
tacklesandtinnies
Gaz, you got?
01:40:43
Morgan
No.
01:40:44
tacklesandtinnies
ah ah she I'm actually going Pan.
01:40:45
Gary
Oh,
01:40:46
tacklesandtinnies
I'm going to go Knights. And Morgz, you got Knights as well?
01:40:49
Gary
I like that.
01:40:51
tacklesandtinnies
Roosters versus Sharks. I've got Sharks. Gaz, you got?
01:40:55
Gary
Sharks.
01:40:56
Morgan
Sharky.
01:40:57
tacklesandtinnies
Morgz, who you got? Yep. And the final game the round, Warriors versus Raiders. I've got Raiders. Gaz, you got?
01:41:04
Gary
Abdu'Waz.
01:41:05
tacklesandtinnies
Waz?
01:41:07
tacklesandtinnies
Morgz, who you got?
01:41:08
Morgan
I got the milk Raiders.
01:41:08
tacklesandtinnies
I've got the milk.
01:41:11
Gary
Yeah.
01:41:11
tacklesandtinnies
All right. Gaz, I hope you got your bold predictions ready, mate. But my bold predictions for this week, I'm going all in on Manly. I've got Tommy Turbo who's got 100 points of Supercoach.
01:41:23
Gary
yeah
01:41:24
tacklesandtinnies
i' going This is pretty big bold prediction here. I've got Sharks to score 34 points plus on the Roosters. And I've got the Raiders to win with both wingers to score one meat pie.
01:41:35
tacklesandtinnies
Gaz, get your bold prediction in for this week.
01:41:37
Gary
I'm going to make it up as we go. hey So I'm going to what's it good Who's a good player? I'm going to Pick a team, right? Any team?
01:41:48
tacklesandtinnies
You can go
01:41:48
Gary
Eels? Eels. Not Mitchell Moses because he's not playing.
01:41:53
tacklesandtinnies
Eels.
01:41:54
Gary
sir right. The Eels winger. I reckon Eels winger is going to have a field um well eels winger to go...
01:42:01
tacklesandtinnies
Addo Car.
01:42:03
Gary
Let's plus. On Supercoach. Yeah.
01:42:07
Morgan
Either or.
01:42:08
tacklesandtinnies
Okay, Addo Car, 80 plus.
01:42:09
Gary
Yeah. um I reckon Panthers against the Knights, I'm expecting it to blow out Panthers way. So, We're going to go Panthers margin 14 plus.
01:42:23
Gary
then... fourteen plus
01:42:26
tacklesandtinnies
14 plus, yep.
01:42:27
Gary
and then
01:42:28
tacklesandtinnies
Last one.
01:42:30
Gary
let's go
01:42:33
Gary
Let's go Roosters game. Roosters, send both centers and a winger to score.
01:42:43
tacklesandtinnies
Ooh.
01:42:45
Gary
Or either team, Roosters or Sharks.
01:42:48
tacklesandtinnies
Okay, I like that.
01:42:52
tacklesandtinnies
All right, boys. So round 12.

Tinney Awards and Match Highlights

01:42:56
tacklesandtinnies
Well, sorry, I should say round 11, we've got the Tinney Awards. So their hit stick award, remember, guys, it could be a try-saving tackle. It could be an absolute bopper of a hit.
01:43:05
tacklesandtinnies
But I've decided to give it to Homolio Lekowatu from the Seagulls. He put a brutal defensive display and placed in a report for, again, that Scorpion tackle that Jakey's going to trademark after this episode.
01:43:15
Gary
Thank you.
01:43:17
tacklesandtinnies
It was the moment that find Manley's physical dominance over the Cowboys. So, again, Homolio Lekowatu, you've earned it, mate. You've got the hit stick award for this week. Hidden Gem Award. So again, that could be a rookie. It could be a non-household name.
01:43:29
tacklesandtinnies
This is someone that we want to give a bit of recognition to. So Jacob Laban from the Warriors. He's got a crucial try in the 70th minute to help seal the tight win at 16-12 over the Dolphins.
01:43:39
tacklesandtinnies
a Rising name who's delivered in pressure moments. So Laban, Leckie, and Vialga, those three boys for the Warriors, they're going household names in the coming years. But yeah, Jacob Laban, he's been absolutely unreal.
01:43:53
tacklesandtinnies
So this one was hotly contested, but the not-so-supercoach award. So this is a guy who is highly owned or really high in price and is absolutely under-delivered for the week.
01:44:04
tacklesandtinnies
Two guys here could easily be getting the award. Scotty Drinkwater, he got 14 points. He now has a break-even of 155 on Supercoach. he gets the award, but definitely an honorable mention. Goes to Tommy Turbo.
01:44:18
tacklesandtinnies
yeah he got 18 with 119 break-even for this week. So the super coach played the round. Appy Corasau from the West Tigers. He got 144 points.
01:44:28
tacklesandtinnies
Currently, he's got a negative six break even. He managed to get 60 plus points in base. Morgan, you might want to close your ears, mate, but that ankle breaker on Latrell Mitchell, wowee.
01:44:39
tacklesandtinnies
That's highlight reel for the ages. What was your thoughts when you saw that, Morgz?
01:44:42
Morgan
To be honest, I just love an ankle breaker in general. I think when we recorded the pod earlier, Gary, before you locked in, I said Sean Johnson and Benji were my favourite players as well.
01:44:55
Morgan
So, yeah, just stoked to see it.
01:44:55
Gary
Oh, yes. Yes. yeah
01:44:58
Morgan
But, yeah, Shane was my favourite player.
01:45:00
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah.
01:45:03
tacklesandtinnies
Mate, Api Corazelle absolutely took ankles. If you haven't seen it, like seriously, do yourself a favor and go watch the John Mitchell ankle break from Api Corazelle. It's also a note that Api Corazelle played 80 minutes for the first time in a while. So that could be something to watch for super coaches out there.
01:45:23
tacklesandtinnies
guys, remember, we're not doing too much Supercoach in this show. We've got a full designated show now called The Fantasy Files. We've got a rolling group of guests with Chris, Adam, Jake, Andy, and a couple other boys who want to jump on. Yeah, we just talk purely Supercoach.
01:45:39
tacklesandtinnies
Get your buy, sell, your holds, plays to watch, some smoky picks, some pod plays. Again, guys, if you want to listen to that and more your Supercoach stuff, please go to The Fantasy Files.
01:45:49
tacklesandtinnies
Again, you can watch that Instagram. YouTube, ah ah Spotify, Apple Podcasts. Again, you name it, we're on it. And that's where you see the fantasy files, guys. so The next award, we've got the bloke who needs a tinny award.
01:46:02
tacklesandtinnies
And I think Desi Hasler already had a couple of tinnies this year, but he's getting another one. So after a heavy 20, sorry, after a heavy 40 to 24 loss to the Raiders, Hasler slammed his team's defense and hinted at changes.
01:46:15
tacklesandtinnies
A tough week for the veteran coach. Desi Hasler, mate, you're going to have to give the boys a tinny because I tell you what, they're hurting. They're hurting really bad. And,
01:46:26
tacklesandtinnies
It was a hard one, the last one. so the Golden Tilling, that's our illustrious award. It's our MVP award. It's the best player of the round. You go to the highest super coach player, a guy like Appy Coruscant.
01:46:37
tacklesandtinnies
But I'm actually going to give it to a guy being Ezra Mann. Very hard week to come back. Obviously, a lot of scrutiny and controversy for him coming back. Obviously, the suspension, you could be on the fence whether or not he should have not been here. Whole entire year.
01:46:51
tacklesandtinnies
Could have been longer. But again, Ezra Mann came back at the perfect time of Ben Hunt going down. Yes, the Broncos got the loss, but he was definitely a he was their X factor and he definitely made a huge, huge difference.
01:47:03
tacklesandtinnies
But yeah, that's the Tinney Awards, guys. The

Show Conclusion and Audience Engagement

01:47:06
tacklesandtinnies
match to watch, boys. I think we can all agree. It's the Warriors Raiders. Gaz, your thoughts?
01:47:10
Gary
Yeah, 100%. Warriors, Raiders. Yep. Going to be watching that one. Yeah, can't wait for it.
01:47:18
tacklesandtinnies
Morgz, you got a different game are you the same?
01:47:19
Morgan
Nah, I think the same for that one. Maybe the Sharkies one will be good, but yeah, we'll see.
01:47:25
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah. So Warriors, Raiders, boys and girls. ah Last game of the round too. So apparently ah this might be drier than the current Sydney games that are happening. that might be the one to watch.
01:47:37
tacklesandtinnies
But boys, that's Tackles and Tinnies episode 14. Gaz, we are flying by, a mate. um mate. um Unreal. Morgan, you've been... So good. Your analysis has been unreal.
01:47:48
tacklesandtinnies
Really appreciate you coming on, mate. Definitely got better internet than Gary, so you actually might be taking his position next week.
01:47:53
Gary
yeah
01:47:54
tacklesandtinnies
True.
01:47:55
Gary
no shout out to you morgues it's it's great having you on hey yeah new co-host role morgues it's up for grabs
01:48:03
Morgan
Maybe. a
01:48:05
Gary
And also this time next week, we'll be State of Origin would have finished. So lots to chat about then.
01:48:13
tacklesandtinnies
tra
01:48:13
Gary
Yeah.
01:48:16
tacklesandtinnies
Yeah, a lot to break down next week. But yeah, guys, really appreciate you both coming on. Tackles and continues listeners. But we again, this show is community-based. We want to hear from you guys. I've been responding to you guys on social media, so keep that up.
01:48:28
tacklesandtinnies
If you have any fan questions, even not about footy, just want to have a yarn, have a chat. Whoever's on the show will be Gaz and I or a special guest like Morgo. If it's fantasy-related, obviously, you chuck it on the fantasy files as well. But again, community-driven podcast. We want to hear from you guys.
01:48:44
tacklesandtinnies
Chuck it in the comments on Instagram or it can be on YouTube or we can even chuck it on the Apple Podcasts, Spotify comments as well. Again, guys, we want to hear questions. We want to hear any suggestions for the show, um um ah just general thoughts or just a general chit-chat. Again, guys, love to hear from you.
01:49:02
tacklesandtinnies
But that's episode 14, State of Origins next week. Fantasy Files be back on Tuesday, just in time for Origin. And boys, any last comments, Gaz?
01:49:12
Gary
up there my road
01:49:18
tacklesandtinnies
And we're
01:49:19
Morgan
Nah, thanks for having us on. It's been good to be a part of it Long-time listener, first-time caller. So, nah, thanks for having us on and we'll see how we go.
01:49:26
tacklesandtinnies
and and
01:49:30
tacklesandtinnies
and we're going viral now because Morgie's on.
01:49:31
Gary
hey
01:49:32
Morgan
Yeah, I'm so rogue.
01:49:36
tacklesandtinnies
Watch out, Joe Rogan. All right, thanks, guys. Talk to you later.
