Speaker: I can't believe are your faces finally. we are here with the savage boston podcast we've got a special guest tonight we got zach gb who's been on the radio a long time and has currently featured w ei on normally saturday mornings zach what's up what's going on how are you i can't believe you guys are showing your faces finally ah You know, I feel like it's been, I don't know, we'll probably get the exact same amount of viewers, but I don't think anyone actually cares what we look like, but you never know on the internet. But we got, i did want to introduce, we got a big live show coming out on um the second,

Speaker: Second joint practice, Pat's Eagles. We're going at the Harp, and it's going to be like a big live show. We're going have ah a huge megapod. We're going have a bunch of guys there. think Fitzy's coming.

Speaker: We're going to be doing a ton of giveaways. It's not – I don't know if I can announce. The only thing we have confirmed is an A.J. Brown jersey giveaway, I believe. i don't want to speak ahead too much, but I think we're going to be able to do a giveaway for like a signed football. Oh, cool. Cool.

Speaker: um We're gonna be able to do, we're gonna you know kind of we're going to be partnered with the Fanatics Fan Advisory, so they're kinda helping us out with a lot of like giveaways and stuff like that. so Should be pretty neat. So mark your calendars. 8.20, second, Pats-Eagles joint practice.

Speaker: Come on out. Hang out. um So, yeah, but we got a lot going on. Anything else new you have going on, Zach? Any projects, anything you got, you know, in the works that you want to tell people about before we get going? I don't think anything crazy. I'll be on EI this Saturday from 8 to 11, so we'll talk a bunch of Pats and then, ah you know, the Red Sox. What an unbelievable turnaround this has been.

Speaker: i know i i feel like obviously we want to talk want to talk pats but i feel i feel like we should like we have to talk red sox only because it's been such ridiculous story before we go pats into why don't one we weigh in we'll just shift completely at the beginning how do you feel about the trade deadline and adley rutschman do you feel about that that i didn't see that coming i thought that they would maybe get like a ryan jeffers or somebody like that so they're going out there they get adley that's a big move and it's funny when i first got to ei It was like all negativity with the Red Sox and Breslow, and they call him Bresbot on the morning show and how much of a disaster he was. And you had Alex Cora on the way out, Chad Tracy coming in. I never thought that they would have not only a successful second half where confidence has been restored with Breslow and Chad Tracy's looking like he's going to be the manager next year. But now this is a team that could legitimately go to the World Series, which if you would have told me that,

Speaker: A month and a half ago, two months ago, I probably would say that you're either a homer or you need to be tested for like sniffing glue or something like that. It's been, it's been unbelievable. It's like actually like truly unbelievable. Cause it's never actually happened before. What are they? 28 and five and 33 games. And now they're about, they're up six to one right now. So, you know, again, they're going be potentially 29 and five and 34 games, which is truly unprecedented. Again, never happened before ever. And we've seen some teams go on some crazy second half runs, but that team was so unlikable for the majority of the first half of the season.

Speaker: And then to go into the all-star break on a positive note and for them to continue this momentum, this is now a likable baseball team where there was no doubt about it. The first two months of the season, it was the easiest rate I've ever done. You just get on the air and you go, oh, this team has no life. This team has no balls. are lethargic. John Henry doesn't speak to anybody.

Speaker: And then the next thing you know, everyone's like, oh, this team's actually good and they're and they're fun. You know i made this point about three weeks ago. I'm not comparing the talent because the talent in the 0-4 team was just out of this world.

Speaker: But that idiot kind of persona and like the misfit of characters is kind of what this team is starting to feel like a little bit. I mean, even someone like Caleb Durbin had another Grand Slam tonight. Tonight, yeah. where You know, I feel like he's become an incredibly likable player. So it's pretty it's pretty crazy. He couldn't hit water if he thought of ah but of a boat for the first, like, 40 games of the season. There was the Mendoza line, and there's being, like, buried under the Mendoza line. And he couldn't do anything. And his glove was always good at third base, but now his bat, I would say that's probably the player it's most refreshing. And if you would have told me they would have this much success...

Speaker: You know, forget about the the lack of start, but with no Crochet and and no Roman Anthony, I would have never believed that either. Yeah, that's crazy. Brett, give me your thoughts. Well, and the crazy thing is, is now we're getting more reports about Roman Anthony. And at first he's setting off the tee. Now he's taking softballs. Now you're also seeing reports of Crochet is throwing pitches ah from like 50 feet out. And, you know,

Speaker: Who knows if these guys are going to come back and what it's going to look like. I couldn't agree more. I've been one of those guys over the last few years where I've just written the socks off and I've been in the, you know, hashtag sell the team Henry type camp just because I can't watch the product. I can't support – the approach that they've had. But I also can't be surprised that this is what they're doing now where they're starting to be aggressive and make some acquisitions at the trade deadline. Cause this is the way the team has historically run. They bomb out and then all of a sudden they go sell out and they,

Speaker: push out all their prospects, they push all their chips and they try to bring in assets to make a run for it. And who knows? I mean, the AL is pretty wide open. We can make a run at it and see what happens. You never know with baseball and, you know, how things could throw out. And at the end of the day, our pitching is still elite and that's going to really carry you well in the playoffs. So,

Speaker: I'm glad they're making a push. I hate saying the fact that I'm buying back in, but I'm totally back into it now and I'm following it every single time. And it's just not been my MO for the last probably five years just because of the way Henry and the whole organization is run. But,

Speaker: As you said, it's a likable team. It's hard not to get behind this bunch of misfits and look at and say, i'm not I can't root for them. They're not likable. Like, they are. And anyone that was not likable, like a Marcelo Meyer, gone.

Speaker: So it's one of those areas where you look at the team, you just like the vibes, you like the feel. They're clearly just tearing the laces off the ball. It's insane. So it's fun to watch. It's good to get into baseball, especially during the dead time of the summer where we were expecting to have nothing.

Speaker: Like we were just like, oh, great. The Celtics have some kind of meat on the bone while we're waiting for the Patriots to get into camp. And then next thing you know, the Red Sox have a historic month of July and the ball keep rolling. So awesome to see. I'm glad to see it's happening. We're up 7-1 right now against Chicago. So, hey, let's just keep rolling.

Speaker: And I think that this team, i I do radio in New York and in Boston, so I get the perspective of both. Like, I'm more confident right now in the Red Sox than I would be in the New York Yankees. And that line for me for the Red Sox all year to buy in was, can they get to 500?

Speaker: Because they would go on like these little mini runs and you're like, all right, the AL stinks. They're like three and a half back of that third wild card spot. But once they got to 500 and then clearly blew past that, that's like the line for me right at 500 is when i when I needed to get back in on this team. And and they've been able to do it.

Speaker: Yeah, that's crazy. John Henry still won't speak to anybody, though, by the way. Like, I had one conversation with him this year. i was at the sport. John Henry. Oh, yeah. I was at the Sports Business Journal Awards. I talked to Big Papi, and David Ortiz tried to tell me that, like, believe in this team. It's too early. Like, they've gone on runs in the past. And I'm like, all right, like, he's just being the the team PR guy. And he was a little annoyed about the whole Veritech thing, I could tell. But John Henry was there, and I just walked up to him, and I go, you know, John, i have to do my job here. I've never talked to you in my life. My name is Zach Galba. I just got hired by EEI. Like, any chance could get a few minutes? And he laughed at me, and he was like, you know I can't do that. I was like, yeah, I'd take a swing. You know, nice to talk to you. yeah

Speaker: Dude, I mean, well, there was that one press conference. That was when, i think it was when they fired Cora and like, you know, they they send out Breslow and whoever else to speak to the media, right? But like John Henry, he was like down the hall, dude.

Speaker: He was down the hall. And so I think I messaged one of the beat guys. I forget which one. I think it was maybe Tim Healy. But I was messaging to one of them. I was like, you guys like just, you just go down the hall. Like can can someone, can you just go get a quote, anything from him? And obviously that was when everything was going really poorly. Yeah.

Speaker: i just I even saw the the local one of the local TV anchors. He was like walking out of the stadium with like a minute left on on the deadline the other day. And they're like, hey, John, I'm just trying to do my job. Can I get a comment? He's like, like yeah, there's still a minute to go and just walked away. So, you know, he's reveling in this because he he knows that everyone's against him. And hey, you come to Boston and you win one World Series. I think his line was that night. You think you you would be able to drink for free the rest of your life and look how many World Series he's won. But. This is definitely a patriot town now, but when the Red Sox get back in it, it just kind of shows everyone's love for the team again. Like the atmosphere in the ballpark, what I've been seeing the last two, three weeks, I would have never thought would have been possible with the way that we've been talking about this team for the majority of the season, but like the tarps off and just, any but Like a few weeks ago, they were down in a – oh, no, they they were up 4-0. Then they they gave the lead back. And, like, as the games in the eighth inning, I was confident that this team was going to find a way to get the job done where, and let's be real, April and May, once they went down three nothing or 4-0, you knew the night was over with.

Speaker: Yeah, and it's it's weird. Henry did have only one comment with the media recently and it was in an email exchange. I forget, I think it was with Fangraphs, extremely random, where he just replied to the email saying that he doesn't talk to the media and explained that it's unproductive. So he rep replied to the media about not speaking to the media. And that's the only comments that we've gotten from John. Yeah, he did one canned interview with the Sports Business Journal that night. They had some like gal there who was doing like these interviews, which like no one really cares about. Like, oh, like what does this award mean to you at the Sports Business Journal? And then Ortiz kind of crashed it. But there was no hard-hitting questions at the time about the state of the Boston Red Sox. yeah

Speaker: I mean, let's be real. we Honestly, the guy's kind of a dud to begin with. There's probably not much you're going get out of him. You're gonna get the spiel from Sam Kennedy when he comes out there. He's gonna give you whatever the PR spin is.

Speaker: I think they just gotta keep putting Chad Tracy in front of the mic as much as you can, because you're getting some good comments from him. And he's a he's another likable guy. And he's one of those guys that's relatable. He's just kind of speaks what's on his mind. i don't think he's trying to fabricate anything or say anything off. So ah whatever they're doing is working. And i don't blame Henry for not putting himself in front of the mic. Every time he does, he gets ripped apart, which he should, but I don't blame him for sitting the way and be like, Hey, as an owner, I don't want my owner that talkative. I just want to let the smart baseball guys do the baseball.

Speaker: And let's be real. real No one gives a shit. yeah If you win win, if you win, don't speak. You know, if you win, like if you're losing, that's when it looks bad. But when you're winning, no one really needs to hear him speak anyway.

Speaker: And again, I don't want to go too deep into this, but as we know, it's it's primarily because they changed their entire philosophy with how they approached the baseball team. I mean, like 2018, they weren't penny pinching and and considering the farm. They were selling the farm and and selling out for a championship, right? So, and then you have this like a clear change in general philosophy to be the Boston Rays, right? And we know how that how that's went. Now they've kind of, it's taken this absurd run to now- Swing big for Adler. Boston Red Sox again.

Speaker: Yeah. Right? Like think about like they they take this big run and now they're like, oh, actually like fuck the farm. Like, fuck the fun. know what I mean? Like, so it's taking a while. Again, it's all gravy, man. Like, this is good. We got, you know, it's August now for, for again, like kind of like Patriots sickos, like guys that are going to camp, following camp, following battles. For us, I'm i'm just stoked that the Patriots are back. But like, yeah icing on the cake, man. Like, I'm i'm happy. If you want get some good Sox baseball, like,

Speaker: I'm down, you know? Yeah, I didn't think we spent the first 10 minutes of this talking Red Sox. I know. I honest i didn't mean to, but then there's a lot to talk about. You know what i mean? like It's totally my fault, too. Apologize apologize to everyone who who's turning in or listening right now that wanted some Pat's talk. So anyway, anyway, let's. You know what? They finally see your face, and now you guys are just Red Sox homers. You know, when you guys were mysterious, it was all past. did out. Now we're like, let's do full Red Sox podcast. We've had a full pivot. We're actually new people completely.

Speaker: We're just full, full pivoting. um But yeah, so again, what I do want to get in, I guess first and foremost, the biggest story today, I thought today coming out of of camp was Kayshawn Booty by all accounts had a massive day, right? Has a massive day. Number it was like five five catches, seven targets, something of that from, um you know, Doug Kyde was saying how he had he looked like a monster a huge day. So again, like the the number one thing is Zach, can give me your opinion. Like, how do you, how do you get rid of booty?

Speaker: Can you get rid of booty? Because clearly like they have seven wide receivers and, by all accounts, they're still looking to get rid of the player and, or do right by the player is a better quote. So, um, you know, give me your thoughts, Zach, how do you feel about the booty situation and what are they going to do there?

Speaker: I want him on the team because I think this is a team that could go to the Super Bowl this year. So if they lose him at the end of the year and he gets some contract that they're not willing to to meet, all right, if he produced for this team, so be it, and and away you go.

Speaker: And he has ah a good chemistry with Drake May. Like, I was at that playoff game up against the Texans. We all remember that unbelievable catch. And we've seen in the last year and a half, Kayshawn Booty have a really good chemistry with with Drake May. So do they need him? No.

Speaker: But I'm not just giving him away for nothing. Like, if if there's not a great market for him if they don't like the return, i don't have an appetite to get back like a fifth-round pick for this guy and then it be some right guard that they draft that plays in the league for a year before he he flames out. So I'm fine with losing the player for nothing um at the end of the year, but I don't want traded right now.

Speaker: I mean, that's fair. I think that's, I would say that's probably the majority of people's opinions. You know, I think a lot of people don't want to. my The only concern is that apparently he's expressed interest and and, you know, he's requested a trade dating back to April. So I don't know if he still has like some sort of trade request out per se, or he's clearly, he's pulled it back and said like, I wanna make the roster. I don't know like where they're at, but I just can't, looking at the roster and how they like everybody, like it's almost everybody fits, fits their role, you know? And even like F'd in Chisholm, like they love Chisholm. yeah And I know like the the fans maybe say like, fuck Chisholm, like we want booty. I get it, but they like Chisholm.

Speaker: They want Chisholm on the roster. And so I find it really interesting how it's going to play out. I think, again, personally, I think they're going end up trading booty. Although i would agree.

Speaker: Go on record. i actually, I don't want them to trade booty. I, again, on record. Well, there's a difference in what should happen and what will happen. right right like what should happen is they shouldn't trade him what will happen is they probably will trade him because there is just a ah log jam at this position which the first year and a half for drake may the wide receivers weren't good now you got aj brown as a top 10 wide receiver you got romeo dobbs as a solid number two option you got matt collins who is a clutch reliable receiver going back to his time with the Buffalo Bills. It's like there's questions if Kyle Williams is even going to make this roster. So that's what, like, I'll be honest, and I do a ton of college football doing the national show for years. When Drake May was a draft prospect, I'm like, eh, there's a lot of potential. It seems like people are saying, like,

Speaker: if he he's like 30 40 percent of josh allen i'm like i've seen these guys when people say oh uh zach wilson's 20 of patrick mahomes or trey lance is 30 of patrick mahomes and i'm just like like those guys didn't amount to anything in the league so i was skeptical of drake but the thing that i'm most optimistic about in the last year and a half before the mvp season even in the in the year uh the half year that he played his first year like that tennessee game he had nothing absolutely nothing the line stunk the wide receivers you couldn't pick them if they were like right in front of you in a lineup you had no clue who was who and this was a team a quarterback that just found a way to turn garbage into gold and last year had stefan digs coming off an acl it's not like this wide receiver room was great and the offensive line wasn't phenomenal so to see what drake has done and this is why i'm like it's so stupid that people go oh the patriots are gonna regress and and they think that they're going fall flat on their faces. Like, yeah, they're probably not going to win 14 games this year. They're probably not going to to the Super Bowl. But this idea that they're just going bottom out is ridiculous when they got better this offseason.

Speaker: Yeah. How do you feel, Brett? oh They 100% got better. I think ultimately Booty's gone just because you can't shop a guy this long and not expect him to eventually move. And there's going to be buyers. It's just worsening around saying, we don't need to move the guy. He's not a problem.

Speaker: I keep saying the biggest way I look at Booty where it becomes something where you have to make a move is if he affects the locker room and becomes disgruntled. Yeah. which In all accounts, it's not the case, both publicly and what you're seeing from guys internally. Like he's a true professional.

Speaker: He's coming to work every single day. He's clearly showing up at camp. So the guys like him on the team, they're going want to keep him around. But at the same time, they're trying to do right by him, right? They want to get him in a good situation because they recognize the fact that long term, he's probably not going to fit the plan because he does work. kind of fit in the same mold as what they're trying to do with AJ Brown. So they got to find a way to move on from a guy like that to put him in the right situation.

Speaker: But I agree with you. If at the end of the year we have him and he walks for free, I'm okay with that too. As long as he doesn't become disgruntled. The minute he starts to become disgruntled, that's when I say, okay, we got to move on him, which is fine because it doesn't hurt us. If that starts happening, we can just move pretty quickly and wash away. At the end of the day, the guy who was a sixth round draft pick.

Speaker: That was a total prototypical, low risk, high reward type guy had flash in his first years out of LSU, had some injuries, gambling problems, yeah like really bad attitude coming out early on. And then he figured it out. He matured. He did that whole piece in the player's tribune. And like, it was one of those things you read it and you're like, wow, it's really great guy. I want to get behind him. And you're right. He's got a great connection with me. It's hard not to like the guy.

Speaker: But he's still like a third, fourth best option on the team, which is fine if he wants to be a good soldier and stay along with it. But if he becomes disgruntled, you move on. Those guys are expendable, especially when you're at the team that we have now where we have more of a depth of talent than we did two years ago when we're trying to figure out what the heck we're going to do with Drake May.

Speaker: I also am curious if A.J. Brown will bring that book over from Philadelphia because I was at that playoff game in the locker room and I had to ask him about the book, Inner Excellence. And I said to him, are you upset? Are you disgruntled? He goes, I know you guys would spin it that way, but how else should I have to think please broad when you have a book in the sideline? Like, i wouldn't I wouldn't read a book ever, you know? Like, I was in college, I didn't even read books. You're on an NFL playoff game, an asylum, and your team's winning, reading a book? So that was one of those crazy things. but But I will say, with this team, the two players that I'm most curious about, because, like, the wide receivers, I feel good.

Speaker: It's rare to the tight end from Notre Dame, who everyone's slobbering over, including yours truly, even I'm fanboying. But also... Like like ah Henderson. i We saw flashes of Henderson last year. I want to see the total package of Travion Henderson. Those are two guys that like I'm kind of circling and just saying, all right, if they pop off this year, then this could be a really special season.

Speaker: So I want to just express my concern with Travion Henderson. um And not I'm not trying to be like negative Nelly here. I'm not trying to just pull the the Greg Bedard, who hates me, by the way. I'm not trying to pull the Bedard. Why do you guys hate each other?

Speaker: but Just bath. Just bath. Oh, is that going back to the gonzo thing? Oh, is that going back? gono thing Yeah, i was one that did that. That's right. I was talking about that. I think I mentioned you in that actually. i mentioned you Oh, you did. You know what? I almost i almost clipped that and put that online because I thought it'd be really funny. So I just want to explain that again for an for for you. That was like an incredibly, feel like it was not a crazy situation. Like i literally listened to Greg's podcast. Like I'm listening, I'm like walking my dog. I'm like, all right, Bedard, here we go. And then he says something, he's like, they don't think Gonzo's physical. And I was like, he's like said it as if it was happening in the present. So i was like, oh all right. Well, that feels like a big deal. If like, if he's talking to the team now, they're trying to give him a contract. But if they don't feel he's physical, well, they're not going to give him a huge contract. Right. So, um so then i just tweeted out, not knowing that Christian Gonzalez himself was going to have his first tweet in four months and like come after Bedard, who then had a,

Speaker: 25 minute uh apology to our video on youtube where he called me like a scumbag for like two minutes and i was like i didn't make it up and it was within your perfect within context like that was not me making shit i was like what you said brother yeah and then he clarified it like afterwards and and he said something along he's like oh well that's not the opinion that they share now but it was like that it was still something that was said i know i i like i didn't know that i Yeah, it was crazy.

Speaker: Like, I'm good. I'm not trying to beef. I've actually never met Greg. I've met a lot of his colleagues. Everyone's been very nice. what Who I've met out has very nice. Maybe Greg's really nice in person. I don't i don't know. All i know is that, like... Yeah, but here's the problem. And I don't know, Greg, so I can't formulate an opinion on that. But it's just, like, people get very sensitive with aggregators. Like, I always think it's good if your content gets pumped out in more places. So, like, I don't have an an issue with that. But, like, I do understand when someone has, like, a site... and they're trying to get as much money possible to them, and then it's like, oh, you amplify it. I think it attracts more eyeballs to them, but they want that amplification on their own.

Speaker: Yeah, well, I mean, it's it's as you know, it's complicated. So, like, the way I designed or or tried to design our brand, so to speak, was that I want to do kind of everything, like a news site would. I want to aggregate news. I want to talk about news, just like a radio station would. That's how I picture it. Like a radio station would. takes news like Felger and Mass and they go berserk about the news and they yell about it and people tune in and like that's that was kind of my idea it's like a place where people want to talk about Boston sports or the Patriots and so part of that is sharing the news then you discuss the news you talk about the news and then you wait for new news And like that's the process of obviously how the media works. And so um that's what I enjoy and everyone does it differently. I try my best to give everybody and we try it at the website and stuff, give everyone full credit, full deserve. Anyone tells me, hey, that's my clip, my story, my whatever, you have whatever credit you want, man. Like oh I share small creators account. Like that's the goal is to like,

Speaker: just be in the mix and and have fun with it. It's not like, um I'm not trying to get like a gotcha moment on somebody. You know what I mean? so Yeah. And I think you guys do a really good job. Like that's, I'm a fan of the Patriots came across your account. It gives good information. There's not stuff that I always see right away when it happens. And then I see it and I go, all right, let me just check in and make sure everything's good. And nine times 0.9 out of 10, I'm sure it's probably good information.

Speaker: It's only if I really blow it and screw up the story or get like a bad source or something, which has absolutely happened. you see like a scam Sharani or one of those accounts. Yeah. Yeah. That's it's harder to like mess it up, but, but it can definitely still happen. But anyway, like obviously don't have to go on about our, our, our thing, but, um, yes, that was a weird aggregation event. And, um, I suppose, in relation, there was a, there was an odd, just to pivot slightly, there was an odd aggregation event that happened the other day that I was not involved with. which was John, i think it's John Cariales, who does like Celtics.

Speaker: And he had something. John Cariales. He's like, he's like i bet the Celtics of Brad Stevens have called in on Steph Curry. Oh, yeah. Like he said something along the lines of like, I'm willing to bet and they've called in.

Speaker: And so people ran with the quote, like a ton of massive like million like and NBA Central, like massive accounts run with it. And then he gets mad, but it's like,

Speaker: I don't know, like it still brings him attention. Maybe it's not the exact emotion he wanted to be felt when he said those words. Was he it was just opinion, you know, and it's all a little mixed up. So I get why people get a little touchy feeling. about You know what it is? It's people get sensitive to the responses where it's like eventually you just got to ignore them like. I could tweet out like the sky is blue and 10 people will be like, yeah, I agree. The other 10 will be like, you're a moron. How does your family even love you? Like you just can't win online. yeah

Speaker: That happens all the time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Again, the vast majority of people actually like sports and I think want to like engage and talk about sports. And we got a lot of great people on there. And then there's some people that just make, just check the account. Normally if they they opened it like one month ago and they have like three followers and they're just like screaming at everyone and everyone- Or they like a lot of porn. Usually like like some guy will write some crazy thing, I'll go in his replies like, ah, should I respond to this person? And it's like every sexual video. And I'm like, yeah, I'm good on that.

Speaker: yeah Yeah, no, you don't need to be going after the porn guys. Um, all right, cool. All right. Let's pivot on that note. Um, so I do want to mention again, this is back back to our guy, uh, Bedard again, who, who is going after Lomu a lot, uh, this morning.

Speaker: And, I was on the radio again this afternoon, just talking how he feels like he's having his stocks pretty down and he's actually, you know, he's kind of, I forget that he's saying he's really struggling, but he's like his arrows pointed downwards. And I just, you guys, give me your thoughts on how you, how you picture Lomo, Lomo developing. And is this a normal, normal kind of entry, entry to the league, you know? Yeah. I think ideally if it goes according to plan this year, he's a swing tackle that doesn't have to start. Now that also predicates on Will Campbell ah having a bounce back season and not being needed to move to guard. It also counts on, Elijah Vera Tucker staying healthy. and then on the right side, Morgan Moses staying healthy as well. So I think Loma will have a role on this team, but this is like my PSA.

Speaker: I've attended enough training camps. I understand all these beat writers have a job to do. these training camps are so monotonous like i've been to them before i've been in multiple teams they're monotonous and people sit there they'll hype up this guy that you'll never end up see playing in the league and then they'll trash a guy that will end up going on to be a great player so i put zero stock right now and i i guess it's it's fun fodder and they have to go there and they need to do their job like i get it they have to observe something but a few practices in we're about to say caleb loma is a bust right

Speaker: Well, and that's just it We've only had like a handful of padded practices. So you can't even count more practices. You can't even count the practices where they're not padded to say like how they're doing on their reps and one on one-on-ones. It's like, guys, they're not even in pads. They can't even like hit each other. Like, what are we talking about? And then we get a handful of padded practices for a guy coming in as a rookie who they're moving around to different positions. Like you said, I mean, he was he was doing some lineup on guard today. Like, it's just one of those situations where,

Speaker: He's figuring out the system, figuring out the organization, the coaches, et cetera, zero stock. I get to your point, beat writers have to write about today. They have to give their opinion on what they see, and they're kind of nitpicking through and giving some hyperbolic takes just because it creates engagement.

Speaker: But at the end of the day, I'm not concerned. I don't think anyone should be concerned about it. Just like I think everyone should pump the brakes when they start looking at how some people are going – you know, jumping out of their seats. Like you said, like booty had a great day. Well, great. But like it is still we're going through camp and tryouts and he's putting them together. It was like there was a lot of talk about Kyle Williams and the first few days like he was just not doing well, not doing well. Then he has one day where he's got just two touchdowns. So like huge day for Kyle Williams. He's back on the map, all this stuff. And it's like, guys, we'll see.

Speaker: Right. Well, how about AJ Brown? We sat here we at it for multiple months advocating, imploring, that AJ Brown would be a member of the New England Patriots, the biggest slam dunk. gets in the practice field the first day. Oh, the separation doesn't look great. Like, oh, he he looks a little slow. And then the next day he lights it up. You know, I was talking to Channing Crowder, who used to play for the Dolphins.

Speaker: And he told me, he goes, yeah, the defense always looks good against the offense. Leroy Hoyt said this too. in in training camp because the offense is trying all these things out and the defense kind of knows what's coming so of course the defense is going to look good and i don't know christian gonzalez is a damn good player so when he goes up against aj brown is it crazy that aj brown uh doesn't have the most success against a top three corner in the league so it's just all dumb jackassery uh that we really do have with these training camp updates the patriots as long as the quarterback stays healthy and they do a decent job blocking this year they're going to go win 10 11 games

Speaker: yeah I've said it time and time again too, people aren't giving full credit to what kind of player AJ Brown is. like I want people to envision, like you're talking about a Super Bowl winning multi-time like first team All-Pro. Like, this this is a different level of player at wide receiver than they've that they've had since said who?

Speaker: Randy. randy You know, like, Randy, maybe. You know, 2009 before he ships out. You know what i mean? Like, but this is this is, or maybe just in level of elite eliteness. Josh McDaniels alluded to this. Maybe Rob Gronkowski. Yeah. Right? That level of, like, you have an elite athlete. Like, again, keep bringing this up because it's important.

Speaker: Every time you line up against AJ Brown or Gronk or Randy Moss, you sit there and you're like, oh oh shit. Like I have to deal with fucking AJ Brown. Like it's a different monster or a hype, whatever the kids want to say. We're not young. You know what i mean? Like whatever you want to call it, it's a different type of player.

Speaker: So And then also what it does is like you look at when Randy Moss was here. here It opened up Wes Welker and Dante Stallworth. You look at when Rob Gronkowski was here. It opened up Edelman and then also Danny Amendola like Chris Hogan. Like having a presence like that where all the attention is going.

Speaker: It's going to make Romeo Dobbs a better player. It's going to make Kyle Williams a better player. It's going make Matt Collins a better player. It's going to allow ah a dump off to go to Travion Henderson and he's jetting down the right sideline. for 30, for 35 yards. Like, just having that presence he's always accounted for. And I've seen him a lot the four years he was in Philly.

Speaker: And the first two, he was awesome. Then the last two, he didn't want to be there. Now he's on a team that's his childhood team. The coach he absolutely loves and has so much respect for and Mike Vrabel. Like, I would be shocked, as long as he's healthy, if A.J. Brown's on a 1,300, 1,400-yard receiver this year with, like, 8 to 10 touchdowns. I'd be shocked.

Speaker: Yeah. That'd be a monster year. And and he's he's that kind of guy. And I think you're right, though. it's too like they're go They're also going to just run the shit out of the football. And I think people got to consider that. like The type of players they've been getting, again,

Speaker: a j Brown at wide receiver. They Matt Collins, who they love. They have Romeo Dobbs, who they love. like these are These are big, big-body physical players. And they bring in... They try to bring in Julian Hill who got hurt. Now we have Tanner Arkin who's probably going to make the 53. And you got Reggie Gilliam at fullback. like Think of who they brought in. What team do they want to be, right? Think of who they want to be. Yeah, Mike Rodnick with the comment, loving the signing of Gilliam.

Speaker: Absolutely love it, Mike. and ah Mike's a great fan and and you know and he came to training camp this year. and like like these are They want to be a big-bodied, physical, red zone, tough football team.

Speaker: ah Mike Vrabel football team. That's who they want to be. And then guess what? When all that's said and done, you got whatever personnel, you got that three wide receiver set, you got your 11 personnel, right? And you got all the big boys in.

Speaker: What are they going to do? They're going to fucking run the shit out of play action. Drake Mays is going all over the place, throwing bombs. Like, they're going to be a good fucking ah offense. Yeah, just don't do that delayed run. There was too much of that delayed run in the playoffs, and I'm sitting there, I'm like, McDaniels, like, what are we doing? But it goes back to what the, even when you had the GOAT Brady, it's like, look how many running backs came in here and had success. Corey Dillon, Antoine Smith, Kevin Falk,

Speaker: um You could go to Shane Vereen, James White. Like, you don't need a stud Belcal back, but, like, I do walk into this season hoping to see more from Travion Henderson, but I go back into this year feeling confident with Mondray because after that game against Buffalo in the first half where he he fumbled the football, like, as much as I love Bill Belichick, Belichick would have put his ass on the bench. Mike Vrabel said, no, we need you. And he ended up having a really good rest of the season and he was reliable. So can those fumbling problems pop back up? Absolutely. But like I go into the season, not concerned about them.

Speaker: Yeah, and just to touch on Henderson, because I know you mentioned like expecting a big year, taking a leap year or two, and talking about how do we use a weapon like that. Because he's a weapon. like You put that guy into space, he's dynamic. He's super fast compared to other guys in the league. like He can create options and and really flash.

Speaker: And one of the big things I'm looking to see is is, can we redevelop a screen game to all of those guys you just mentioned? Good point. We ran our offense last year. I felt like that was a huge miss. Like for whatever reason, we just could not develop a screen game. And you look at a guy like Henderson, that he should really fill that gap.

Speaker: And for whatever reason, we weren't doing it. We didn't build it into the offense. I know our boy Snooty was at the camp this past Saturday, and he was talking about how he felt like a lot of the reps that they were doing for the running backs – was leading into screen game type throws, screen game type, you know, reps. So we'll see. I'm looking forward to that happening this year because I think it just opens up the playbook more. And it's going to help not only because you have a weapon like KJ Brown, but we've bolstered the offensive line. We should be able to run the rock with Gillum, helping with the fullback. When you're able to run the rock, able to open up with big right receivers, it opens up a lot more things like doing some play action, being creative to get a guy like Henderson out in the action. So I'm expecting a good year to leap.

Speaker: My biggest thing with Henderson is can he understand how to find the right gap in the line? Stop running the lineman's asses every time you get the ball because you're sped up. If he could improve on that this year, I think that would be huge. But McDaniels also has to find ways to put him into space and be a threat.

Speaker: But I think to your guys' point, you're right. That was a point of emphasis you hear this year to get more physical. Because they didn't expect to go to the Super Bowl last year. They didn't expect to absolutely be a playoff team. They thought they'd be competitive. But they even tried to temper expectations last year. And and last year was better than what anyone could have imagined. Now we the unfortunate ending. But I remember watching that AFC Championship game.

Speaker: with my uncle. He's from Framingham and actually his like closest friend as a kid, Rhonda ended up marrying Andre Tippett and the families are are very close. So like Andre's kind of like a pseudo uncle to us. ah we We converted him to Judaism is is what we like to say with... with Andre, who's in the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, by the way. But, like, my uncle would sit there, and he still calls every running back Sam Bam Cunningham.

Speaker: But he would even say that day, he's like, they need to get more physical. Like, this line is weak. They need a fullback. Like, they need a little toughness. And that was surprising because we all watched Mike Vrabel as a player. He was, like, the best open field tackler that you would see. He would always be clutch, and then you throw him out.

Speaker: on the line and he would be eligible then go catch touchdowns so that physicality I think they're trying to bring back but but to your point it's just like like the screen game is an extension of the run game and Henderson a guy with that speed and that motor if you could dump him off and like line up Brown and like Collins on the left where there's going to be more attention just because their size, and then you could just dump off and and hit a block on a wide receiver, and then the next thing you know, Henderson's going to be going down the sidelines. i thought

Speaker: I really thought Henderson would actually be better in the screen game last year. thought he'd have a lot more receiving yards. and It just didn't pan out the way I thought it would go. But again, he was more productive than then people give him credit for. you know i know That Tampa Bay game, he was really good. it was awesome. I mean, ton of, like, home run hits, right? So, like, but again, he was, he had 900 yards rushing, 200 yards receiving, right? Like, that's a pretty productive rookie season. But again, when you watched him on, like, a game-to-game basis, you can't just have all home run hits and then, like, have 10 runs that get sucked at the line. You know, like, you don't build that momentum. and and And, again, he was not playable in the postseason. Like, I want people to remember that. Like, he he could not...

Speaker: block well enough. And I guess I read a report today that he's kind of having somewhat of a continuation of that in the preseason. So I like him as a player. I think he's going to really good, really explosive, definitely concerned about his pass blocking ability for for certain.

Speaker: The guy in the comments here says terrible echo. Hopefully that's not throughout the entire podcast. So I don't i don't hear it. But again, hopefully the echo in the comments, let us know if we're still having an echo. Hopefully that's not. ah It doesn't stay horrible. But but yeah, um again, like.

Speaker: I think Henderson can be great. He can be explosive. He should be a really talented player out of the backfield, but he has to be able to block. He has to be able to block. And if he can't, again, Stevenson is just going to play. They do say, Zach, you're the one having the echo. I don't know how to fix that. Which is interesting because I got my mic plugged in and everything.

Speaker: I know. I literally can't even hear it at all, so I'm not sure how that's playing out. It's hard it's all good. I'm sure yeah yeah the podcast or Spotify will will well fix it in real time or whatever. But ah but yeah, so anyway, that's that's my thoughts on Travion. I just watching him, it it felt like last year again as a rookie, he didn't really he couldn't really piece it together just running like off tackle, duo, even zone reads. like He just wasn't... hitting it in the right timing. Like he wasn't hitting the window. He's either like too fast, too slow. Something was off versus like Stevenson was actually a really great running back towards the end of last year. He's really, really productive. and Yeah. And let's also remember he was a rookie too. too Yeah. Yep.

Speaker: hundred percent. And so I hope he gets better. i assume he will. Going back to year two players. um I think people are, are sleeping a little bit on Will Campbell right now.

Speaker: And I think Will Campbell, for all the shit talking we've all done and everyone's done about arms and blah, blah, blah, Campbell looks like he's beefed up. He looks really good. He's winning almost every single rep he has. Some questionable hand motions though. What, me?

Speaker: No, no, Campbell, what he did the other day. You didn't see that video? he's Oh, yes. Yeah, dude. Okay. Yeah. Yes, yes. I get the reference. Yeah. By the way, they put that in the high def clip on YouTube because May was speaking in the background. So that was on high def as well, which leads you to believe that someone behind the scenes there is like, that's a little purposeful there. That was a little like an old Disney movie, you know, like Yeah, and here's the thing with Campbell, too.

Speaker: like Like, he was good for a rookie before the injury. like And I i blame my my girlfriend, actually, because her parents and family, they all made us go to Mexico, and it was like the one Patriot game i I couldn't watch. And then I get back, and I find out that Will Campbell goes down with that injury on that Sunday. But when he came back, he just clearly couldn't plant, him that and that ended up affecting him greatly in the postseason run. I think this year it's going to be more mental than physical with Will Campbell, and I'm curious if he's going to be able to flush what did transpire in the postseason, because it was ugly, and now he's become a meme, and and like everyone's trying to poke fun at him.

Speaker: Yeah. I think he's going to be a pretty good player. Again, small arms or whatnot, I think he's going to be a pretty good player this year. And again, like we can but go back to the argument between um whether he should have even been playing in the postseason, and I think that's a whole different argument altogether. I've been arguing for a while that if he If he couldn't plant, you he you had a better option. And even though Vidarian Lowe is not a good option, it's better than a guy who actually can't plant in the postseason. And we saw how that played out. Clearly it played out extremely poorly for the offensive line.

Speaker: um And again, I don't think that's a crazy take. Like, you just can't play an injured player. He's just an injured rookie. Like, you can't play him and and and have him get destroyed. I feel bad. I feel bad for for his psyche, for what it looked like, man. Like, you got a kid who's 21 years old getting his ass kicked on front of, like, whatever, 80 million people, whatever. it was but ah So, it was even the Texans game. Like, I was 10 or 15 rows off the field, and the fans, our own fans, they were just crushing him. Like, Campbell, learn how to F and block and everything. And I'm just like...

Speaker: right, like he's a rookie. Like, let's relax. I didn't think it was that big of an issue, but clearly in the Super Bowl, it ended up being a massive one. Well, and then you see him going into the locker room during the playoffs, and Brable's trying to tell him, like, pick your chin up type thing just as a gesture to make sure the kid doesn't beat himself up.

Speaker: I will say, based on the like the kid's attitude, he still has that makeup, and he's just been a bulldog his whole approach. So I'm not concerned about where this is going to rub off on him. And then he got a lot of good like And he commented about how he's gotten a lot of like current tackles.

Speaker: Former players reach out to him, talk to him about what he you know could do or what he has to do going forward. He's got a great mentality on his shoulder. A lot of this was technique, and I know we went into it last year at that time, as well as being injured, but it's all fixable items.

Speaker: And the other big thing, i i remember Cerrone Battle was talking about this, where he was going through like the matchups he had. And you think about all the top-end DNs that he had to go against on his rookie year, where they're going to have an advantage on him because he just doesn't know how they're going to attack him with stunts, et cetera. And he's on top of that dealing with Wilson to his right side, who also is a rookie kind of going through and trying to figure it out.

Speaker: Like that's a lot of pressure to put on a kid. So I look at it and say, I'm looking forward to how he approaches this going in. I have optimism. I'm not down on the guy at all. I think he's going to come out strong. I think he's going to be a stout left tackle for us.

Speaker: Now, do I think he's all pro top 10 left tackles? No, I don't think he's there at all. ah But I think he's going to be a serviceable, solid guy for us that's going to allow us to be able to do a lot of things offensively that we're able to do earlier in the year because he was able to do his job and effectively lock people up. I get people talk about season and schedules and matchups, but like Saron was pointing out, like, yeah, maybe you didn't have that, but he's still going against like elite talent, his position that he has to go for his assignment and he's doing his job. So,

Speaker: You're going to have games like the Miles Garrett where you're talking about all world, like best of the best, maybe the one of the best to ever do it type guys. Like, okay.

Speaker: But there's a number of other guys he had to go against, and he locked them in. Like, he made it it happen. So I'm not concerned. I'm looking forward to how he approaches it. And, again, I think it's another year. You just kind of listen to him talk and how he's approaching it.

Speaker: He's still a confident guy. i think that has a lot to do how Rabel has approached him. He is definitely Rabel's guy, and it's it's shown. And here's the other thing, too. If he ends up being a guard for 10 years, you need a guard for 10 years. So if it doesn't work a tackle they have to move him, I know the fan base is going to lose ah their mind, but I'm fine if he ends up being a guard for 10 years. It ends up being a really high-level guard in this league.

Speaker: I've read some some really hyperbolic takes the last couple days about whether it's ah like people saying like you know Campbell should be a guard now Lomo should start a tackle now.

Speaker: Like too early. How do you think those two would perform this year? Cause again, in my opinion, Will Campbell would be a better offensive tackle this year than Caleb Lomu would at this point. We're talking about a full year of experience.

Speaker: And I think a kid, a really, really motivated Will Campbell. Again, his body type shirt, we can go back to body type. Yeah. His body type would be a perfect guard. He's almost built identically to Elijah Vera Tucker. Like they're very, very similar, whether it's arm length, Narrow shoulders right and I think just because he's built like that it doesn't i mean he can't play tackle similar to Joe Tooney like Joe Tooney was a phenomenal interior offensive lineman but he can still play tackle He's a pretty good tackle. Was he good enough to hold up in the Super Bowl? No He wasn't good enough to hold up for Mahomes right he got beat in Super Bowl bunch of times so again kind of bringing it back like

Speaker: Yes, I think Campbell is going to be a very, very talented football football player wherever he plays. He's talented, he's mean, he's tough, he's a good player. um I think this year he's going to be your left tackle the entire year.

Speaker: And then um if there's for some reason extreme problems, then we can talk about it then. I don't think there's going to be. I think he's going to be very serviceable, probably top half of the league offensive tackle, left tackle, and people are mostly going to be just fine with his level of play.

Speaker: Yeah, I think it's a premature conversation. I really do. And them drafting Loma, I know people go, oh, that's setting them themselves up if Campbell stinks. No, it's because Morgan Moses is old. You know, they're going to need a right tackle as well.

Speaker: Yeah, there's no doubt. I don't know. Well, i don't know. least there's juice happening. at least there's Patriots football. There's stuff going on, which is which is great. Again, it's great that there's shit happening. Do you guys have a jersey of an active player, by the way?

Speaker: You know, i feel like this is like, this is a conversation to deeper conversation. Yeah, open in a can of worms, Zach. Okay? Because I feel like there's, i I don't think I do, but my children...

Speaker: do like they have drake made jerseys i have two two sons right um i don't i am considering like if i'm gonna go so i'm a season ticket holder like if i'm gonna go to bunch more games like i should probably maybe get a modern jersey whether it's a mayor or gonzo or milton williams or something just to uh fit in at the games but i know i don't have i have all old brady era right i have a mcginnis i have a harrison brady gronk uh wolf fork andre tippett matthew slater like those are the ones that i have later and i'm thinking to myself like who would i get if i need a current in jersey and as much as i love may it's like all right i watched tom brady i can't get a may jersey yet um but i mentioned closer to that gonzo the number on a big guy it just doesn't look good i'm thinking milton williams

Speaker: That's the guy. I love Milton Williams. That's a guy New Jersey I would want. Well, it's like you'd have to – if you ever ran into that guy in the street, right? It's something like this. It's like a machismo thing. It's like an ego thing. If you ever ran into that guy in the street, you'd have to be like – Yeah, I'll wear that guy's jersey. That's a tough guy.

Speaker: You know what I mean? like I would wear that guy's jersey. like But if I see, like I don't know, some guy I don't think is that tough or something, I'd be like, you know like I'm also 39-year-old man. like you know It's different. like These are young young men. You're wearing in their jersey. you know I think it's cooler. like I'll buy the jerseys for my kids. yeah and And that's fun for them to... you know that That'll be their their new thing. you know I want to have them...

Speaker: at the games and enjoying the games and stuff like that so so you like to just spend your money and give things to your children rather get to enjoy your hard-earned money is what you're saying yeah nor that's my whole life that's like the story of my life no no no i i'm gonna call you out on that no what it really is is you're an old man and it's kind of odd to buy a young kid's jersey and then put it on because you're an old man you're like no back to ego It's just ego. You know what i mean? You got to sit there and like wear a young man's jersey and you're like, I'm like, you know, I'm not young anymore. Like if I was 21, I'd be like absolutely buying like a gonzo jersey. You know what I mean? yeah buy I have a Ty Law jersey.

Speaker: I have a, you know, i have Ty Law. I got my favorite player. One of my favorite players ever is Richard Seymour. Ever. Like just the the peak. I was playing D-Tackle, like the peak of D-Tackle.

Speaker: in in the NFL is Richard Seymour. So like I had to get his jersey. Do you know what i mean? so Yeah, let me ask you this. We'll pivot off. When's the last time you bought a professional jersey for yourself?

Speaker: um I'd rather spend money and save up buy a fucking Rolex something. Well, that's what I mean. Like, when's the last time you bought a... Not to act like a huge feedback, but let's scratch that one. The prices of jerseys are just too damn high these days. Oh, I know. I mean, you're like, jersey, Rolex, you know?

Speaker: Yeah, come on. I miss Modell's, and then there was also Bob's, I remember, used to always have great Patriots. Oh, yeah, Bob's had a good knock-off. That was good. It was funny, he's like, you would no problem go out to dinner and go buy, like...

Speaker: like a $200, $300 dinner probably if you want like a fancy dinner with you and your girlfriend, your wife, no problem. But if you told me to buy a $200 jersey, I'd be like, ah, dude, like, you know.

Speaker: but But you know what? the That website, what was it from China, EC Seller, their jerseys were so good. And now like the jersey qualities aren't that great. So it's like, I ordered a Vrabel jersey. so It's 150 bucks. I got the Vrabel jersey and I sent it back. I'm like, eh, it didn't look that good. I go, used to get better jerseys from China. better Yeah. Well, we got to talk. This is a good point to bring up to our guy, Babs, who's working with the Fanatics advisory, who's taking feedback from fans. It's literally his job. Like, take, you know, build a community and take feedback. And I think that's good feedback for Fanatics. Is he alive, that guy? I saw he met with Michael Rubin, who I like. like yeah And then I just feel like I've never seen Babs ever again. Is he alive and well? No, Babs, he like dropped off the mat for like a week as he was like signing a deal with with Michael Rubin. But Babs works for Fanatics now. Oh, how about that? um again But again, like their their whole shtick is trying to build the community up of people and and fan community. And again, someone's saying that Echo is insane again. You know, let me try this. Let me log out and log back in. I think they said it was maybe like your headphones or something. Yeah, I don't know. I'm connected how I do this every day StreamYro. Let me just log out, log back in real quickly, all right? Yeah, sure. Hopefully it's not too bad with the echo. Like I said, I had a little bit of echo. I was hearing it too. Yeah, you did. Can you still hear the echo or no?

Speaker: No. No. It was it was only only color from Zach. Oh, that's so weird. Hopefully it doesn't like mess up the the whole thing. mean, whatever. People want to listen. I'm sure they'll listen. You don't have a New Jersey, Brett? You you didn't buy a New Jersey? was going to say.

Speaker: I don't think I've gotten a new jersey in like 15 years at least. Yeah. At least. last jersey you bought? It's probably – let's see. And it's not going to be a Patriots. It would be a Celtics.

Speaker: So I would probably say back in like 08. I don't think I've had a Sox jersey in forever. Yeah, now I hear it on Brett. it might be brett what if it could just be sneaky because now i don't hear an echo with me but i heard it on brett when i was sitting there and i heard brett be the echo let's see how so oh someone says andrew stewart here in the comments says nope it's brett so bret now i feel vindicated i'm like the new guy everyone's like what an asshole this guy is he's just echoing the whole time and i heard it in my headsets and i log out now i have no echo and then it's i log in and it's uh it's brett what the heck brett

Speaker: That's a sneaky Brett echo. It's not good. It's because you don't have two T's in your name. So this so odd how many games are you going to a bunch of games this year? You, what what are you doing? Yeah. So I, I tailgate, uh, with this, with a great crew and I like to try to get to a game or two a season. i do a bunch of, um games for Compass Media Network studio hosting. So I do like pre-half and post. So I got like 14 games this year. So that that takes me out of the mix. But I like to try to get up to it to a game or two a year, definitely, and go to Gillette, which I've been doing since...

Speaker: The first year Gillette opened, you know i remember my, my uncle would drive us to the games and and we would go and he had season tickets. They don't have them anymore, but he used to have season tickets. And he would tell me the stories that they would go into the stadium, like the same toy story that Robert Kraft says where they would have like four tickets and they would get like 10 fans. And he goes, that would be, ah you know, their family growing up where they'd have four tickets to get like 10 to 12 people. And,

Speaker: Yeah, no, I'm stoked, man. The tailgate I do, and I shout them out, we'll keep shouting them out, is Tailgater 2000. um close Close buddy helps run it, and they're a big, in the bus lot, RV lot, they have a huge thing, and and welcome a lot of people, and they they run an awesome tailgate every year. So, I mean, people that go to the game, it's it's ah it's usually pretty killer. We'll have to meet for a beer at the stadium.

Speaker: What's up? i said we'll have to meet up for a beer at the stadium. Dude, anytime, man. I'm there. I got my tickets are are great. I'm so stoked, man. Last year was my first year in season tickets, and I got... Where are your seats? So, I'm in the the hundreds, so I got 122. So, i' um I'm a lucky guy, man. what yeah What yard line is? Is that the end zone? we are about the i'd say about like the 10. okay and they're they're guys talking about season tickets his rolex hey roll she pretending i'm i'm pretending i'm a highbrow or or whatnot yeah it's all pretend it's all at illusions

Speaker: Yeah, so, but no man, I got very lucky with the tickets. We got inherited them from a family friend who had them for 50 years. I tell the story, so, and then because we have all this seniority, they allow you to upgrade your tickets. So they were in the threes, but 50 years of seniority, so we got to upgrade them to the hundreds, so. I kind of like watching in football, though, more up top because you can see everything develop.

Speaker: Yeah. Like, don't get me wrong. When you're like right smack in the middle, 20 rows off the field, at the 50, it's it's insane. But I do kind of like that, like 300 level with the real fans in the first like five rows, like right at the 50, you know, 40 ish yard line.

Speaker: i would say it's it's premier for when you're down in that end zone side like like when you're they're down here there's no better scene on earth because we're about halfway up and like you're you're on it but when they're down the other end zone you know you might be watching the screen watching the screen yeah right yeah you're like we're turning the other way you know what i mean watching the screen so so for like for like frame of reference we were basically When the Buffalo Bills game where you had the Hollins catch, not catch, where he caught the ball, then they said it was a pick, that was dead straight in front us. Oh, wow.

Speaker: Yeah, the worst end zone seed. Well, my my buddy Ray, he has season tickets 10 rows off the end zone. But this was before the renovations happened. So Brady would run out right to us with the fist pump.

Speaker: And there are some videos that it's like disgusting, like the amount of screaming and and the the pitches. My voice are are just going in for that video. But the worst end zone seed I ever was in.

Speaker: It was the second Super Bowl up against the Giants. I was like 20 rows off of that end zone. And that was just ah a painful night. Like this is my hot Patriot take.

Speaker: The second loss to the Giants is more painful than the first. And I get the historical significance of what would happen with the first. They would have been undefeated. Obviously, that goes without being said.

Speaker: But the first one, they just got beat. Like they got destroyed in the trenches. The second one, when Patrick Chung lays out that Giants player early in the second half and they're up like nine or ten points or whatever it was, I thought that game was over. Like that second one, they just blew.

Speaker: So that's always my my hot take that Patriot fans think I'm crazy about, that I'm actually more upset about the second one than the first one. I mean, I would not agree, but I understand. And I think, um yeah, they should have won that. I mean, Wes Welker dropping that ball that you'd catch 100 out of 100. I know he was turning. Wes Welker was an amazing wide receiver. You know, you catch that ball every time. So, yeah, that was painful. I would say last last question, then we'll wrap it up. um What do you feel like post-career Tom Brady? What's going on there? What's up with him?

Speaker: I am the biggest Tom Brady defender. I'm getting to a point, though. And I've said this before on the radio. Like, if Tom Brady came to my family barbecue, punched my dad, my mom, and my sister in the face, I'd be like, Tom, sit down, let's have a beer, and let's talk about, like, the golden days. Let's talk about 2001.

Speaker: But, yeah, let's talk about that ah that touchdown pass against the Dolphins to Troy Brown that run the game. Like, that would be, like, things like that. But... like the whole Paul brother thing.

Speaker: I'm just kind of lost in it. Like, what are you doing? And like, it'd be one thing if his kids were like eight and seven and they were like into the WWE, wwe but his kids are are getting older right now.

Speaker: he he's like, his dad said at once that he's afraid what Tom's going to be like without football and like the minority ownership. Great. Like broadcasting on Fox. Great. You know, the clothes that he likes to wear. right. Yeah. He's rich. Like, of course he's going to dress that way.

Speaker: But like this one is is where I'm really losing it of whatever happened at that Fanatics Fest. I just I didn't really understand it. I'm like, OK, is the end goal to have Brady and Gronk at what WrestleMania and go up against the Paul brothers? Like, do I care about that? No. Are there people out there that will? Sure. But yeah yeah that's a tough one to defend.

Speaker: I think he's just think he's just chasing chasing the dragon. You know what I mean? like you're just He's pursuing the next dopamine high, like the next achievement. you know're like He's bought in a franchise, wins Super Bowls. so he's You know, i don't know what's going in his personal life. see the Florio take?

Speaker: Florio's like he's trying to appeal to so many different audiences because he has political aspirations. Like I have, you know what? I found this shirt. was at my parents' house. And you know how you go through like boxes after your parents move and I'm going through it. It's a Brady Moss 08 president shirt. Like i if Brady's running for president, I think I got the the first Brady political shirt.

Speaker: I don't know what his ultimate achievement will maybe in 10 years he's running for, for Congress. I have no, I don't know what he wants to do, but, uh, governor of some sort, but like clearly chasing some sort of popularity or wants to be loved or like, ah you know what I mean? Like he just really wants to be loved and then get accepted, but. you know I hate to do too much analysis, but like I think the divorce, and I was never a Zell person, but that divorce when your wife is cheating on you with the jujitsu guy, like it's Tom F. and Brady.

Speaker: like I'll tell you this story. um I was an intern at WIP in Philadelphia. i went to college at Temple University. And Dan Klecko um is was a part of that radio show with Angelo Cataldi.

Speaker: And Angelo is like, this Tom Brady guy, he has it all. Like, wouldn't you love to be Tom Brady? He's like, and he says to Dan Clackle, like, tell me something about Tom Brady that like is, is just like embarrassing or what? And he couldn't get anything. And then he goes, Angela, the guy also has a big hog too. And Angela is sitting there and he goes, he's got a big penis as well. He's like, he lives the perfect life. But the first thing to really go wrong in Brady's life Is is this divorce?

Speaker: And now it's like, OK, you're this successful, like you're good looking dude. You could sleep with anybody in the world that you want. And you're kind of living that midlife crisis, like bachelor life where everyone has that like.

Speaker: family friend that's like 45 50 and you're like okay he's still living like he's 25 26 when is he gonna settle down that's what tom is doing you just didn't anticipate it to be the greatest quarterback of all time living this way because the guy had it all for all those years

Speaker: Yeah, you can always see that family friend or like you said, somebody you know who is behaving. I don't want to use the word behaving like child, but behaving in a really immature way, like a bachelor would do in their mid-20s, going out, drinking, partying. He's behaving like I did in college or how I dreamt of doing in college, honestly. Yeah, if you millions and millions of dollars. You know what I mean? All cool. Any last thoughts, guys, before we shut it down? Anything you guys want to get out?

Speaker: How many wins this year for the Patriots? You had to take a guess. Like life on the line, how many wins do you say this team has? 12. 11. I'll echo Brett. I'll go 11 as well.

Speaker: If they go, put it this way. if they go 11 and 6, they go 11 and 6, you know, they should be in the postseason and let's roll. You know, I think 12 and 5, are they going to be the one seed?

Speaker: They're going to be close. I think it's going to be like ah a mick a big mush kind of at the top. Yeah, the Texans could end up being in the one seed if Stroud is just average because that division, like I think Jacksonville will regress. It's funny. Everyone talks about the Patriots regressing. No one talks about Jacksonville taking a step back. Yeah, well, I think the Broncos are are a phenomenal football team. oh What about the Chiefs?

Speaker: Well, there is no team that I hope misses the postseason more this year than the Kansas City Chiefs. I'm not high on the Chiefs and the homes. And I've said that for a little while now. People think I'm trolling rage baiting, whatever you want to call it. I'm not. think he's declined for three consecutive seasons and missed the playoffs last year and coming off an ACL. And his weapons are limited. I don't actually know what to expect there. But...

Speaker: If he's in the postseason, he's the most feared quarterback. there's There's no doubt about it. But will they get to the postseason? I don't know. But even like with Brady, it's like when Brady came back from the ACL, the next year, like he was good, but he wasn't Tom Brady until another year after. I think it does take like a full year physically for you to get back to what you were.

Speaker: Yeah, I honestly, I'm not, I'm not a million percent sold on where they're going to be. I know people hate that. and And and again, if you'd rather have a player Mahomes or Drake May right now, right now for their respective teams, who would you rather have?

Speaker: And id I would confidently say I'd rather have Drake May right now. Yeah, I would love to say that I would agree with you, but I got to see it for another season with Drake. I would say Patrick Mahomes. One more? Yeah. like like give me Give me another year. you know i I like i like where where the take is. it's It's a good, like, let me buy stock now when most people aren't there.

Speaker: But, yeah, I would still have to go with Patrick Mahomes. I got you. All right, guys. Well, thanks for tuning in. I'm going to end the stream now. we will catch you guys next time. Peace. Peace. Peace.
