"That spin cycle that the just tells you, you're not good enough. The shame, thoughts, the guilt. And that started when I was a kid. And again, when I talk about my family and how I grew up, stuff like that, like my family did the best they could. And I love them so much. But my parents went through so much that they brought onto my life and I just never knew what it was like to tell myself I love myself and those thoughts of shame and never telling my family that I loved them."
Derrick Deidel is a native of Colorado. He's grown up here his whole life. Right now in his life he works in recovery, sober livings. He's a recovery coach, helping other recovering addicts, walk their journey in life. And he works in a residential treatment. He is a recovering addict. He's over two years sober. He's been through trauma. He's been through addiction. He's been through a lot of mental health and got the help he needed. Here he stands today, a living testimony to what getting help and opening up can do.
