Aligning how you see the world and how the world sees you In this thought‑provoking episode of Rest and Recreation, host Michael Millward explores what it really means to live a limitless life with mindset and abundance coach Natalie K. Wynn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/nataliewynnpmp/], author of Manifest Your Limitless Life [https://amzn.to/4gJK4yu] and founder of Inspire Life 365. [https://inspirelife365.com/] Drawing on neuroscience, lived experience, and her signature ATM Method — Awareness, Transformation, Movement, Natalie explains how many high‑achieving professionals unknowingly operate from subconscious scarcity patterns that shape their choices, behaviours, and ultimately their wellbeing. She says, “95% of the things that we're doing is on auto-program… coming from the subconscious mind.” Michael and Natalie unpack how burnout often stems from misalignment, living a life shaped by other people’s expectations rather than your own authentic desires. Natalie highlights the early warning signs of burnout, from over‑functioning and people‑pleasing to chronic exhaustion, and inner conflict, which she describes as being like, an internal tug‑of‑war many listeners will recognise. Their conversation ranges from subconscious programming formed in childhood, to the importance of becoming the person you want to be before trying to “do” your version of success. Michael reflects on pivotal moments in his own career, including promotions earned by stepping into the identity of the role long before the title arrived, a real‑world example of Natalie’s philosophy. This episode is rich with practical insight, gentle challenge, and moments of humour, all woven into a deeper exploration of how to create a life that feels aligned, intentional, and genuinely yours. A compelling listen for anyone navigating career crossroads, burnout, or the search for a more authentic version of success. Speaker: Where we don't tell you what to think. but we are hoping to make you think. I'm your host, Michael Millward. Today I'm going to be learning about how to have a limitless life from Natalie Wynn, who has written a book called Manifest Your Limitless Life.

Speaker: Natalie is a mindset and abundance coach. She's based in Atlanta, Georgia, and runs a company called Inspire Life 365. Atlanta, Georgia is not somewhere that I have ever been, but if I did get the opportunity to go, I would be making my travel arrangements with the Ultimate Travel Club, because that is where I get trade prices on flights, hotels, trains, holidays, all sorts of travel-related purchases. You can do the same thing by becoming a member of the Ultimate Travel Club.

Speaker: There is, as you'd expect, a link with a built-in discount in the description. Now that I have paid some bills, it is time to make an episode of Rest and Recreation that will be well worth listening to, liking, downloading and subscribing to.

Speaker: And I hope well worth sharing with friends, family and work colleagues as well. Now it is time to say hello. Hello, Natalie. Hi, Michael.

Speaker: Thanks so much for having me. We'll ask you to confirm that in half an hour.

Speaker: ah Tell me about Inspire Life 365 and the work that you do. Absolutely. So I founded Inspire Life 365 maybe about six years ago. And what I do is I help high achieving professionals really shift from survival mode to sustainable success by rewiring their mindset.

Speaker: And most importantly, releasing scarcity patterns that a lot of us carry with us. Many times we don't know that we have these scarcity paras these scarcity patterns. Right. You know, I can hear someone in the audience saying, oh, it's another one of those coaches. What is it that makes what you do different from everyone else?

Speaker: I think what makes me different and Inspire Life 365 different is that we recognize that most people are suffering from some level of burnout and that they're not doing the things that they want to do and living the life they really want to live. And we really work with the individual to find out what it is that they want, truly want, and take that time to become aware and then work on a plan that is easily integrated into their existing life so that they are eventually on the other side living

Speaker: the life or the version of themselves that they've always imagined. We operate from an intuitive heart space. We see everyone as an individual, very unique, and have their own purpose, whether you know it or not, your own identity. And we help you pull that out and allow you to be free being yourself. And that's part of also being limitless.

Speaker: When people think about coaches, they very often think about career success. And what you're saying is that the career success has to come after you've identified what is going to make you successful as a human being. Absolutely. um You can have what career success looks like on paper.

Speaker: But I think people don't understand that when they realize what it is that they truly want internally, then they will actually have the real success. that they've always wanted, but never could quite touch in their careers.

Speaker: We help you uncover that. And we have a specific framework that we use. It's very simple. It's called the ATM method. Okay. What does the ATM stand for? So glad you asked. It stands for awareness, transformation, and movement.

Speaker: Right. Before you can transform, you have to be aware that things aren't working or be aware of what is working for you. so that you can then transform and magnify that. And then that's where we start to work on the different subconscious modalities and techniques and strategies so that you can blossom and open up and then take action. And that's where your movement comes in. And it's not just any action. It's inspired action. It's intuitive action. It's the rest action. Is this what is described in your book, Manifest Your Limitless Life? Yes. It explains it and walks you through step-by-step

Speaker: um As you do the exercise, you're not just taking in information, you're actually being called to take action. As we're learning and we're actually doing, that impresses the subconscious mind even more and creates those new neural pathways. So the ATM method is infused throughout the chapters so that you're really getting it within your your core, your nervous system. This ATM approach this is science-based. Yes. Neuroscience-based, actually. Yes. Here comes the science bit.

Speaker: You know, because, you know, when people hear manifest, manifest a lot of times they go into, ooh, woo, you know, this is one of those things. This is, you know, another one telling me if I just close my eyes, everything will magically appear in front of me. And I'm not saying that that can't happen because I believe in miracles. But what I am saying is that there are scientific studies that case studies available that show that when we we wire our brain using subconscious modalities, neuroscience, we create new neural pathways in the brain. And that changes our behavior because 95% of the things that we're doing is on autoprogram. And that's coming from the subconscious mind.

Speaker: 5% is coming from the conscious mind, the things that we think we're controlling. So the science behind this framework is just amazing. And so, yeah, I would say don't get caught up on the manifest part and just get into the the real nitty gritty of things that can change life. So there's an old Jesuit saying, I think, is that if you give me the boy until the age of eight, I will give you the man.

Speaker: oh And when you say that an awful lot of our behaviors are as adults is driven by our subconscious mind. So we're not actually making a deliberate decision, it's just something that we do almost out of habit.

Speaker: Those sorts of things can be what hold us back or stop us from doing something. Absolutely. Absolutely. right So we have in our mind subconsciously, we have something saying, you can do this.

Speaker: You can't do that. Well, we're our own worst enemy in many ways because our subconscious mind puts limits on what we can do consciously.

Speaker: Would that be correct? That is absolutely correct. Another piece of that is just because you believe it doesn't make it a fact. That's true. Yeah. And that's part of limiting yourself as well. You know, we have all of these beliefs that have come from childhood, that have come from just life experiences, and and we have made them facts in our life. And that's not necessarily true.

Speaker: And you have the power to change it at any moment if you know how. And most of it starts with the subconscious mind and the programming. Right. So very often when I'm doing my HR type work, I will have, well, I will be discussing equality, diversity, inclusion.

Speaker: And very often that discussion will go around to, well, we have to demonstrate to someone who's in a minority group that it is possible for them to do something. And I will hear the expression,

Speaker: You can only do it when you can see it. I have to see it to be able to do it. And that's what we're talking about, isn't it In our subconscious mind, we have to change how we see the world in order to then be able to put that into action.

Speaker: Absolutely. That's exactly, that is a great, that's a great example because some people are so, or many people are so visual. They don't have probably all of the knowledge that you have or the knowledge that I have. And so seeing someone doing the thing that they never thought was possible is breaking that limiting belief. So now that belief that you had no one that looks like me ever does this. Well, that's not true.

Speaker: Here's someone right here. But the truth is, is that we actually don't need to see it. It's great to be able to. we don't have to see it from someone else, from an external. I'm going to finish your sentence, I think. It's that we don't have to see it, but we need to believe it. That's right.

Speaker: That's right. yeah And that's when you talk about being a mindset coach. That's what you're doing, isn't it? You're enabling the mind to see something that is the authentic person.

Speaker: That then enables... the person to move towards becoming that authentic version of themselves. Absolutely. Yes, that is exactly right. and We have a saying that there's the doing and then there's the being.

Speaker: And most people have it backwards. They think they have to do in order to be. When the, on actuality, you become first.

Speaker: So you're being, and then being, the doing comes, then you can just do because you are operating from a version of you that believes, that knows that it's already done, that has broken those limiting beliefs.

Speaker: Yes. What you said then just rolled off your tongue as very straightforward, simple words, really. But you were talking about something that is massive, aren't you? Yeah.

Speaker: And this, I get that. Yeah. And if I can so put that into HR speak for a moment. See, sometimes people will say, i deserve to be promoted. And you can see.

Speaker: they have all the figures, they have all the productivity, whatever it is, everything is there, but they're not ready for the promotion because they don't behave like someone who has that senior level of authority, of position.

Speaker: Yes. And it's it's almost like if you want to be promoted, you have to demonstrate to people that you almost... are promoted before somebody formally promotes you. That's right. The way in which you act, the way in which you speak, the way in which you behave, all of those things go towards creating for other people the expectation or the belief that you are already promoted. That's exactly right, Michael. um If I take let's say, a SVP job.

Speaker: The SVP doesn't become the SVP once. I think you're going to have to explain that. and ah that Oh, that title. So here ah here in the States, SVP stands for Senior Vice President. So want someone with a corner office and very deep, mild carpet. Yes, that's exactly in your C-suites, exactly.

Speaker: and so, you know, the SVP doesn't wait to become the SVP once he's been promoted or she's been promoted. Thank you for the she.

Speaker: Yes, that person was already the SVP way, probably way before someone else even recognized it. They had already stepped into the identity of being the SVP. So they're showing up as the SVP. They're already doing the things as an SVP before that promotion is even there. So you are exactly right.

Speaker: your Yes. I totally get what you mean because it happened to me. i was once promoted. And but several times I've been promoted to my career, but there was this one particular time where I was promoted and it was a major promotion in my career. And i was full of beans about it. And one couple of, well, about a week after I got the news and the official letter, I was walking out of the office through reception and one of the directors came up to me and said, Michael, is it true you've been promoted? And I said, yes. I am, I am now.

Speaker: so like ah quite a senior important person within the HR ah department. And he said to me, I thought that had happened last year. so Exactly. And that's exactly what you mean. It was like the year before i had decided i deserve a promotion.

Speaker: I'm going to get promoted. And everything that I did consciously and subconsciously was designed to get that promotion. yeah But it was only when that director said to me, i thought that had happened last year, that that was better. Actually, that was better than being promoted.

Speaker: I know That's amazing. That's great. You were being, you were being the person who you chose to be and who you were supposed to be. So by the time the promotion, you know, comes, yes, I'm sure there's excitement, but you're already that person. Yes. You've already stepped into the identity of that person. The job was already yours, actually. Yes. It makes it sound straight term quite straightforward, but I've worked very hard.

Speaker: Yes. And that's the thing with mindset work is that there is a lot of inner work and if people have a misunderstanding that it's it's easy. It's one of the most challenging things to do. It's very straightforward, very straightforward, but you have to be willing to sit with yourself, become aware of what's holding you back. Think about the things that you really want. Get clear on what it is you want. I find that most people, Michael, don't even know what they want.

Speaker: Oh, the number of times I've had that conversation. Yes, I totally agree with you. There are too many people who get onto a career treadmill without actually working out for themselves why it is that they are on there.

Speaker: Yeah. and And that's what causes that burnout. That's what keeps them from resting. It just spirals and bleeds into other parts of their lives as well.

Speaker: Yes, and that's when people say to me, Michael, you're very busy. i said, them I'm not quite sure that I am busy because I'm having too much fun. yes it's When you're describing that sort of burnout situation, that is almost before you can burn out, you have to be in the wrong place.

Speaker: That's right. Because if you are in the right place, then everything fits together. The burnout is almost where things aren't in balance. That's exactly right. And in our world, in my world, let me say, we would call that misalignment.

Speaker: Yeah. That would be one of your red flags. Yeah. Whatever it is that you're doing is not resonating with who you truly are, you know, the person that you really are.

Speaker: And you should, people should take that information and really sit down with it and evaluate, okay, what is it that I really want? Because this isn't it.

Speaker: I'm burned out. I'm stressed out. I'm hating everything. Right. that is a sign of misalignment. That's a a pretty miserable place to be.

Speaker: it is. Are there any signs that people might be able to identify on the route to that particular place?

Speaker: What are the signs that you're on the route to burnout rather than the identification of burnout? What's what's the situation there? So I would say some of the Red flags along the way is probably lack of sleeping, lack of sleep, feeling like you have to do more, excuse me, over-functioning in your role, over-functioning in your life.

Speaker: When you feel that conflict inside where you're saying, a part of me wants to do this, but a part of me has to do that, And then going against what it is you truly really want to do because you're in a people pleasing mode. That is also a red flag of missile or just a sign of misalignment and you're headed towards burnout. Yeah, because people pleasing is an interesting topic because that's almost like the situation where you find yourself saying yes to people because that's the nice thing to do. But saying yes to them is actually going to create more work for you. And you're not actually going to be able to fulfill what you've said yes to.

Speaker: Correct. Because you know what? You probably said yes to three other people as well, in addition to your current responsibilities. And that is definitely going to lead to burnout. I always think that people who who haven't got the confidence to say no to people or haven't got the confidence to say, I can do it for you, but if I do that, I won't be able to do this. And sort of position things in the correct sort of way. They just, yes, I'll do that. Yes, I'll do that. And then they get caught in that trap. If you want something done, then ask a busy person. You've got a reputation for saying yes to everything, but you've allowed other people to sort of pass something over to you.

Speaker: You've accepted responsibility for something that should have been theirs. Absolutely. And and you just make the situation worse and worse. The early signs of you've entered the highway to burnout are physical ones like a lack of sleep. Yes. right A bad mood in general, I suppose. And then or those things where you are trying to do more than you really should. And I suspect very often, are clients sort of coming to you after the point where they they expect themselves to say yes? they They're almost expecting themselves to be capable of more than is actually physically possible within the time that they've got available.

Speaker: Yes. When clients come to me, they are usually at their wit's end. They have recognized that something has to change.

Speaker: They can no longer operate the same way and live a decent life or the life that they imagined for themselves. Going to stop you there, the life that they imagined for themselves, because there are an awful lot of people that are living the lives that other people have imagined for them. Yes, that is so true.

Speaker: I'm so glad you said that. A lot of that, we can go back to, again, that subconscious programming, right? Like, I wonder how many people have become doctors, attorneys, or electricians or engineers, all of these different things, because someone told them that that's what they had to do in order to be successful. That's the family expectation. We are a family of doctors. We are a family of Marines or we are family of electricians. Family of XYZ. Exactly. And so that becomes the belief. And remember, beliefs doesn't necessarily make it fact.

Speaker: So now you find yourself doing something that That really isn't resonating for you. It is not aligned with who you really are, but you haven't taken time to sit down and think about what it is you really want. Now, all you know is that this is miserable.

Speaker: I am completely tired and burnt out. This isn't the life that I imagined for myself. Or on the opposite end, Michael, you have the people that go, if I'm just making six figures, you know, six figures plus, and i should that should fulfill everything.

Speaker: in my life I run across a lot of people like that and they realize they look great on paper, but their life is just miserable. Exactly. You know, they're just, they're tired.

Speaker: They're exhausted. They're not able to do the things that they thought they would be able to do or imagine they would be able to do with their life once they hit the six figures plus or whatnot. So it just goes back to, well, what is it that you want?

Speaker: I remember something that I heard up of Winfrey Selm, one of her programs. You can earn six figures, you can win the lottery. If you're miserable without the six figures, getting a six-figure salary just means you'll be miserable in a bigger house.

Speaker: Exactly. And that's exactly what a lot of my clients face. That that is exactly right. That's exactly right. So yeah, so by the time they get to me, it's um they are ready to do the inner work.

Speaker: And that is the part where most people want to skip because we'd rather do. It's just like exercising. We'd rather someone say, just go do five squats a day, do this, do that. So we run out and we get the the cute outfit. We get the protein shakes. We do do do, do, instead of figuring out, well, what is the reason why i don't want to get up and work out? or What is the reason why i don't want to go into this workplace every day?

Speaker: What is the reason why that I'm denying myself rest? Yeah. That's the inner work.

Speaker: I think in some respects, this thing to you, you don't need to be at burnout point to actually see the logic in what you are saying and getting to the point of just, am I doing what I really want to do? Mm-hmm.

Speaker: Yeah. It makes me think, are people coming along and saying, I've reached this point, I need to change. And do they try and change whilst they're still in the environment that is causing the issue? Or do we is it wrong to blame the environment for the issues? It's it's more them, isn't it?

Speaker: It is. It's more of them. And here's the truth. Well, Here's part of my truth. I'll say this is that many times once you get clear on what it is you want, you can actually find alignment where you are.

Speaker: It's really difficult to have alignment in what you're currently doing if you're not even clear on what it is you want. Or you can start to look for roles in that organization that's more aligned with who you are.

Speaker: Right. Because you've just reminded me of a conversation I had fairly early on in my career with a manager who wanted me to do something. He had a project that he needed someone to take on and he to he decided that me, I was going to do it. And he used the expression, if I was you at your age, at your stage in your career, I would be fighting to do this.

Speaker: And it's down to like, yeah, it might be. But have have you actually asked me what I want my career to be like? Right. Have you actually asked me where I want my career to go? or are you just overlapping your ambitions onto a young what you want to be a younger version of you when you are trying to pressurize me to do something which...

Speaker: if I don't want to do it, if it doesn't align with where I want my career to go, I'm not going to do it as well as the person who would want to do it to align with their career.

Speaker: Correct. Yes. that's a That is, I couldn't have said it better, honestly. That's great. Yeah. I've been listening and learning and you've, yeah like you say, manifest your limitless life is a title of a book that makes it it almost sound as if like, this is a bit manifesting. um Like you say, I'm going to sit down, close my eyes and think about it and all of a sudden it will happen.

Speaker: And it's also makes you think that, yeah, it could involve an awful lot of work. But the things that you've been saying have reminded me of incidents over my career, which have been pivotal point pivotal.

Speaker: That's a long word for someone to say. There have been key points in my career where decisions had to be made. And it's whether is this decision going to move my career forward or is it my a decision that is going to put me on a path which isn't going to take me to where the I'm going to find the authentic me.

Speaker: Right. And if we don't get clear on what it is that we want, we will forever be living someone else's dream. That's a powerful thing to say, but it's true, isn't it? You're either doing a job because it's an expectation that someone with your exam results should be doing this degree, should be going down this career, and you can find yourself in a position where you're doing things because at younger age, you're doing things that people expect you to do because you haven't worked out for yourself what you should be doing because you don't know yourself well enough so you go with what other people tell you about you as being what's right for you because you trust them and they're doing what they believe is the best thing for you Also, when you get into a career, there'll be other people who are thinking along the same sorts of lines in that yeah you have this skill, you have this talent. We can use that in this type of work. Whereas what you might want to do is a completely different type of work, but you have to get to know yourself first.

Speaker: That's right. That's right. You have to become aware. You have to become aware. And once you're aware, then you can transform. Transform. yeah Yeah. Then you can transform and then you can move. And then you can move.

Speaker: So the transforming is more of an internal type of exercise. You're transforming yourself. And then you're able to communicate with other people about where it is that you need to be going as well.

Speaker: Exactly. Right. Exactly. and doesn't that feel so much more empowering? Doesn't that feel... like a sigh of relief. Doesn't that feel more restful?

Speaker: You know, it is. Well, you know, Natalie, we have packed so much into just, you know, 30 minutes, but I have really enjoyed our conversation and the things that you have said have really made me think. So thank you.
