Good morning, everybody. Just let me just give a shout out to everybody. I've got ah i've got dozens and dozens of messages from people that have been at CMPX. It looks like it was successful. Today is the final day of that. I hope everybody has a good time and and gets what they wanted out of it, whether you were simply walking through the aisles or you were one of the contributors to that show.

I did get a couple things wrong. I did didn't realize that it was every other year And so um I do intend, I mean this sincerely, that I will be at one of either ah the next one in Toronto in a couple years, i am going to go to AHR,

um As I've mentioned before, I'm just sort of in the midst of empire building, if you will, and setting things up for the next and fourth generation of baker plumbing, which is a very exciting prospect for me. But if you know anything about the trades, ah nothing happens without the work.

And that is my contention. I've had lots of people reach out and say, you know, some of the people that I have been critical of um in the past, they're very nice people. And I don't think I've other than one or two, have I suggested that they're not nice people. In fact, I think I've said that they're engaging and um probably well-meaning and well-spoken, blah, blah, blah, but they are not what they claim to be. And that is my only contention.
Avoiding Inauthentic People

is ah that no matter where you are in this life, no matter what you do in this life, that you ought to be aware of people that purport to be something that they're not.

And if you can avoid those people the best you can, which is unavoidable, but if you know how to deal with those people, then your life can be much smoother and and less stressful than it needs to be if those people sort of infiltrate your life.
The Role of Social Media in Trades Community

That said, I am a supporter of the trades. I'm an advocate of the trades. I love being part of it. I do feel a sense of camaraderie that the social media ah platforms have provided for me. I've talked to people that I would not in any way in any world have talked to without access to these types of technology and media, which I am incredibly grateful for.

Earning in Trades: Promotion vs. Hands-on Work

you will If you're in the trades and you're sincere about it, you will earn every nickel that you make. You absolutely will. And I don't want to take that away from anybody. If you have to earn those nickels by, you know, standing in a booth for eight hours talking about a product that you may or may not use, I guess that's up to you. If you want to do it in a ditch or you want to be up at, like I was at 2 o'clock in the morning last night to go deal with a...

sump pump on the fifth level of a parking garage then you will earn those nickels it's a wonderful engaging um environment you must take care of your body you must take care of your finances that's the bottom line of this whole thing i wish everybody all the best in whatever you do life is a difficult place i don't even know. I'm sort of rambling here.
Focusing on Positive Influences in Trades

I do want to focus a bit more on the business side of things and some of the stories that have affected me for better and for worse and focus on some of the people that I think are doing a great job in. the trade world and so maybe I'll highlight that I know I sort of got to four or five on the people that I think are not doing a good job and obviously lots of the comments I got back from CPX CMPX was listen matt these they're not bad people I'm like I don't think I said they were bad people I just said they aren't who they say they are and I still don't think I'm wrong when I say that and time will tell

I literally had two discussions this afternoon, one on WhatsApp and one on Instagram. I'm like, listen, people, ah time will always reveal the truth. And I've been in this long enough to sort of see those cycles repeat themselves many times. I'm not always right, but I can certainly recognize patterns.
