Introduction to Bonus Episode

It's time for the Uncommonwell bonus content.

Hello, everybody. You are listening to the Uncomable Podcast, and this is the bonus episode of Tom Hayes interview with Hey Window Cleaning.

Family Business Origins

00:00:18
Speaker
What a pleasure it was to just be able to unpack kind of the history of not only his life, but kind of a history of the company. And it was really interesting for me to listen to his perspective as he was younger, watching his dad, his father start his own business.
00:00:38
Speaker
And the reasoning why it was just his dad wanted to be more present with the family.

Supportive Spouse's Role

00:00:43
Speaker
And so it's been fun to be able to, to work alongside both his Chris is his father. So Chris, his father and Tom, as they work together in this business and start seeing success and start putting goals together. But one thing that I really wanted to point out was just, uh, the fact that Margo, which is Tom's mother and Chris's wife,
00:01:04
Speaker
the sacrifice that she did and she saw a need, she saw that she could provide and help for her family in the time when Chris was gonna start his own business, his hay window cleaning, that she would go out and go be a librarian. And what a significant thing and finding that I think is more prominent in most of the cases is how much the spouse does when there is somebody who's gonna jump off
00:01:31
Speaker
and start this whole uncommon journey or start a company where they want to try to pursue their passion. And that's something that I would say is a common theme and a common thread throughout is just how much support and power having a supportive spouse is. And so that was neat for me

Father-Son Business Dynamics

00:01:52
Speaker
to see. It was also fun for me to hear how Tom kind of talked through different things in the relationship with his father.
00:02:01
Speaker
I think it's both been encouraging for Tom and I to see Chris get more and more excited about goals and setting those goals as well as achieving those goals, probably even more important. But to see his father step up and see that those goals were set for his advantage, not anybody else's. And many times I think in people are working for somebody else.
00:02:23
Speaker
They get goals thrown on them that maybe be unrealistic or that they try to put a performance on it if they don't hit their goals and how damaging goals can be.

Passion for Service

00:02:32
Speaker
But when goals are done right, it actually is unifying. And it's really unifying when you start seeing those goals and a goal that maybe is
00:02:39
Speaker
Almost unattainable but seeing that a team is pushed and then now attaining and hitting those goals is really good and powerful and so I don't know if that whole interview was positive to you, but it sure was to me I love Tom and I love his humility. I love his heart to serve other people
00:02:59
Speaker
And he does that by washing windows. And that is just another lesson for me is how many things that we can do to serve other people to make them happy. You can see and hear in Tom's voice, as soon as he can go and see a dirty window and wash this window, how excited he gets seeing his clients be happy.

Future Blessings

00:03:20
Speaker
And what a good metaphor just in life of
00:03:23
Speaker
At times, we just have to go serve people. And sometimes it's the dirtiest windows that they possibly could have. But having an encouraging spirit, knowing that that's a way that you can serve them and love on them in that way is really cool. So thank you for your time, Tom. God, I just hope that, you know, God blesses your business and, hey, window cleaning and just your future because I'm a huge fan. So thanks for listening. You've been listening to the Uncomma Wealth podcast. I'm Phillip Ramsey. Until next time, go be in common.
