Speaker: Welcome to the Solarpreneur Podcast where we teach you to take your solar business to the next level.

Speaker: My name is Taylor Armstrong.

Speaker: I went from $50 in my bank account and struggling for groceries to closing 150 deals in a year and cracking the code on why sales reps fell.

Speaker: I teach you to avoid the mistakes I made and bring in the top solar dogs of the industry to let you in on the secrets of generating more leads, falling up like a pro and closing more deals.

Speaker: What is a Solarpreneur you might ask?

Speaker: A Solarpreneur is a new breed of Solar Pro that is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve mastery and you are about to become one.

Speaker: The top solar printer podcasts from 2022.

Speaker: In case you missed out on some podcasts this year, we're going to be going through some of the top podcasts we had.

Speaker: And so don't miss out on the action today.

Speaker: We're going to be bringing the heat.

Speaker: My name's Taylor Armstrong.

Speaker: We're here to help you close more deals, generate more leads and referrals, and have a much better time in the solar industry.

Speaker: And before we get started, just wanted to thank

Speaker: Everyone that has supported the podcast this year, everyone that has shared it, that has posted on social media, that it's reached out to me and said they got something valuable from the show.

Speaker: That is what keeps the podcast going.

Speaker: And just wanted to share some numbers on the podcast.

Speaker: This year we broke, we shattered the record for most downloads, most listens on the show and really pretty impressive.

Speaker: So shout out to y'all who shared it, who supported this show.

Speaker: It's much appreciated.

Speaker: And in case you wanted to know the numbers, this year we had almost, yeah, it looks like about 220,000 downloads, which is incredible.

Speaker: Love you guys.

Speaker: Just never thought I could grow it to the lowest types of numbers.

Speaker: So appreciate the support.

Speaker: But I know probably not all of you heard every episode from past year.

Speaker: And so this episode, we want to do a little breakdown on some of the most popular episodes we had in the year of 2022.

Speaker: And I did one of these shows last year for episodes in 2021, got a lot of great feedback from it.

Speaker: So I thought, okay, the people have spoken.

Speaker: Let's do another one.

Speaker: We're going to be going through it.

Speaker: Got some of the most popular ones.

Speaker: I'm going to give you just a little recap of them.

Speaker: And hopefully it'll inspire you to go check out some of these if you have not already.

Speaker: Because they were incredible guests and incredible contents that we had this past year.

Speaker: And then one more thing before we get started on this, we did in the previous episode, we posted a little goals worksheet.

Speaker: If you don't listen to it, the previous episode was about setting your goals for the next year and really just hitting the ground running.

Speaker: And to do that, we created a little goal worksheet.

Speaker: We did have some issues getting the domain up at the time the podcast published.

Speaker: So in case you tried to go there and it wasn't working or you missed out on that, the domain is goals.solarpreneurs.com.

Speaker: We'll post that in the show notes.

Speaker: One more time, that's goals.solarpreneurs.com.

Speaker: You can go there and

Speaker: and get access to a goals worksheet that I use personally to plan my goals and make sure I maximize my efficiency for the coming year.

Speaker: So let's jump into it.

Speaker: We're going to go through the top nine podcasts.

Speaker: Everyone does top 10.

Speaker: So I thought, hey, let's do top nine.

Speaker: And part of it is because we had some issues in our reporting software too.

Speaker: That actually, for some reason was not showing a 10, but we're going to go with number nine.

Speaker: So number nine podcast of 2022 was episode 235.

Speaker: And it was how to have an edge in your solar cells with Michelle Spinach from Solar Edge.

Speaker: Great episode.

Speaker: And again, you can go search these episode 235.

Speaker: But just a little recap, she talked about a lot of things that we don't commonly talk about on the show.

Speaker: It was not as much sales related, but it was more just education on a lot of the products.

Speaker: So most of us have access to SolarEdge products, great products.

Speaker: Michelle breaks down kind of what's new in SolarEdge, what's coming.

Speaker: And a lot of things that we probably don't think about as we're selling.

Speaker: One of my favorite bits of knowledge that I gained from this show is she said if we are planning to size a system for a future electric vehicle, that we need to add an extra three kilowatts is the average.

Speaker: Three KWs onto a solar system.

Speaker: And so I did not know that.

Speaker: Usually I'm just like, okay, throw up a couple extra panels, call good.

Speaker: But she said the average is three kilowatts.

Speaker: So...

Speaker: Cool bit of knowledge.

Speaker: So if you especially if you like more of the geeky side, more of the technology, this episode is for you.

Speaker: Go check it out.

Speaker: Even if you don't, lots of great nuggets in that podcast.

Speaker: So that's number nine.

Speaker: Coming in at number eight, we had episode 239.

Speaker: And that was a live presentation I did on the doors, recorded myself, posted it, gave myself some feedback.

Speaker: Maybe I sounded like an idiot.

Speaker: Maybe that's why people listen to it.

Speaker: I don't know, but you can judge for yourself.

Speaker: So if you want to hear my live presentation on the doors, go listen to it.

Speaker: That's episode 239.

Speaker: And that comes in at number eight.

Speaker: Number seven, we had episode 265 and that was with Rich Fiola.

Speaker: He talks about Solar Legion and the episode was called How to Generate Solar Leads Like a Pro.

Speaker: If you don't know Rich, he is one of the top minds in Solar Legion right now.

Speaker: He runs Solar Exclusive, probably the top, I don't know, it can be debated, but one of the top for sure Solar Legion agencies.

Speaker: He's been doing it for a long time and knows what it takes to generate leads.

Speaker: And what I liked about this, we don't just talk about the solar legion part, but we talk about if you wanted to do this yourself, what do you need to do?

Speaker: Or if your company is giving you online leads, what are some steps you need to take to maximize contacting these people?

Speaker: to maximize the appointments you get out of them, and really just what you should look for.

Speaker: And the difference, if you want to start your own Solar Legion, if you want to start your own online ads, online Legion, or if you want to work with an agency like Rich has at Solar Exclusive,

Speaker: Really, what are the differences?

Speaker: What are the pros and the cons?

Speaker: And what the steps you need to take, whether you're doing it yourself or hiring it out.

Speaker: So definitely listen to that.

Speaker: If you're at all interested in Solar Legion or if you currently get leads that are not your typical door-to-door, I think some great content in there.

Speaker: And he shares some stuff that definitely applies to door to door too.

Speaker: So don't miss out on that one.

Speaker: That was number seven.

Speaker: Number six, we had our friend Christian Maroney and that was episode 285.

Speaker: He talks about how to sell 30 deals in 30 days.

Speaker: Christian, great friend of mine.

Speaker: I've been in the Noxstar program with him for a while and consider him one of the great influencers in solar right now.

Speaker: Just has done a ton for this space.

Speaker: And so Christian, he talks about just really what he had to do to hit 30 deals in 30 days, the commitment it takes, how he mapped out his days, how he mapped out the territories he was going to go hit.

Speaker: He jumped into all of it and he does not hold back.

Speaker: He talks about some struggles he had and talks about transitioning from...

Speaker: company to company.

Speaker: He has made some company switches.

Speaker: And actually, at the time of this podcast, he started his own solar company.

Speaker: So pretty cool what he's been doing.

Speaker: So go check out that if you want to learn how to close 30 deals in 30 days.

Speaker: At number five, we had my man Jake Hess.

Speaker: That's episode 224.

Speaker: And his podcast was titled How to Separate Yourself from Competition Without Dropping Price.

Speaker: If you don't know Jake, you might be dead or living under a rock.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: Jake, he is very well known in the solar industry.

Speaker: And he is currently organizing SolarCon coming up in April.

Speaker: Hope to see you all there.

Speaker: But Jake, he's a master at solar.

Speaker: Not only selling, but what I really like about him is he knows how to just separate himself from the competition by knowing a lot about electrical and knowing a lot about the products and really just positioning himself as an expert compared to all these new solar, you know, sales organizations or just really poorly trained reps.

Speaker: And what we need to do to separate ourselves, especially in highly competitive areas, is

Speaker: which I loved because I'm in San Diego, very highly competitive.

Speaker: I know a lot of folks out in Texas, very competitive out there.

Speaker: And so if you want to learn how to separate yourself from the competition, go check out that one.

Speaker: That's number five.

Speaker: And just to give you a little teaser, he talks about different like door knocking strategies.

Speaker: He talks about how you can know if your customers need main panel upgrades, which a lot of people didn't know.

Speaker: I didn't know that for my first four years in solar.

Speaker: Had no idea when people needed a MPU or not.

Speaker: So little things like that, little bits of knowledge that you should know to really position yourself and set yourself as the expert.

Speaker: Coming in at number four, we had Tanner Huber, episode 226, and he talks about how to dominate in solar as a summer sales program.

Speaker: Tanner is another guy that is just crushing it in solar right now.

Speaker: He definitely has my intention.

Speaker: If you do not follow this guy, I would go follow.

Speaker: Give him a follow.

Speaker: I believe he's cleared over a million this year in commissions, and it's just crazy how he's been able to bring in huge summer sales teams.

Speaker: A lot of us in solar, we're not used to solar being your typical summer sales program.

Speaker: It's not necessarily the pest control alarm thing where we go out and recruit summer reps.

Speaker: But when I heard Tanner talk about this, he definitely changed my perspective.

Speaker: And some of the things he's doing, he's going out to college campuses.

Speaker: He's bringing on dozens and dozens of reps for the summer.

Speaker: And he's frankly getting more closes on his teams in a summer than a lot of companies do in an entire year.

Speaker: So if you like the idea of...

Speaker: maybe blitzing or maybe, you know, just getting a high volume in the summer, getting guys out.

Speaker: Definitely check this out.

Speaker: He's going to share what he does to recruit all these guys in and get a high volume going during the summer.

Speaker: At number three, we had episode 230, and that is the powerful technique to take people from not interested to maybe.

Speaker: And it's cool to see.

Speaker: Typically, as I've recorded the podcast, a lot of times in my head, I thought, okay, people just love hearing the guests.

Speaker: That's the only thing they get value from.

Speaker: What do I have to share?

Speaker: And I'll be honest, there has been limiting beliefs with me just doing solo podcasts sometimes because I know there's guys that are doing crazy numbers.

Speaker: I know I'm a solid rep for sure.

Speaker: I know I got things to share.

Speaker: But when I hear some of these guys that I bring on as guests, I'm blown away.

Speaker: And sometimes I get doubts in my head like, wow, what am I doing sharing about solar when I have these incredible guests that are doing things that just shatter my expectations?

Speaker: But it's cool to see that people have gotten value from my solo episodes and not to, you know, toot my own horn.

Speaker: But number three, I did an episode on just really a principle called contrasting.

Speaker: And you can go listen to the podcast.

Speaker: But basically, I talk about it, how you can contrast bad and good in solar to really differentiate yourself and something that helped our teams out tremendously.

Speaker: And contrasting is just you've heard it all the time, but you go into a

Speaker: clothing store, people show you this $200 jacket, they're talking it up.

Speaker: And then right after they show you something that's only like $100.

Speaker: What does that do?

Speaker: $100 is still expensive, but compared to the $200 one, 100 bucks doesn't look so bad anymore, right?

Speaker: So I talk about how we can use the same principle in our solar cells in prospecting, in closing, and how it helped our teams so much throughout the year.

Speaker: And then at number two, another solo episode we did, it was a live door presentation breakdown.

Speaker: I think it was the first one I ever did on the show.

Speaker: But love doing that type of content, just breaking down people's presentations.

Speaker: So if you would like to be featured in one of those episodes, definitely shoot me a message on social media, or you can shoot me an email, taylorsolorepreneurs.com.

Speaker: But

Speaker: This episode, we featured actually a coworker of mine that's been doing great.

Speaker: He's set, I think, over 60 deals that have closed this year and had some great things that I learned from just breaking down his door presentation.

Speaker: But also, you know, a couple of things that I felt he could improve, that he could do better.

Speaker: And so that was a great episode.

Speaker: Got a ton from it.

Speaker: Go check that out.

Speaker: And then at number one, give a drumroll, give it up, because number one, we had the one, the only, Ty Segan.

Speaker: Coming in, episode 229, the episode was titled, This Guy Closed Over 100 Deals in the Same Neighborhood.

Speaker: And Ty, this...

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, this guy is on a different planet.

Speaker: He just is a different breed of solar salesperson.

Speaker: Probably definitely the top two or three work ethic I've seen coming on the show.

Speaker: Because this guy just works sun up to sun down every single day.

Speaker: I think rarely takes a day off.

Speaker: So that's probably 90% of his secret.

Speaker: But other than that, other than his incredible work ethic, I was just blown away by what he does to just work an area and milk every single deal out of an area until there's nothing left.

Speaker: I mean, he had, I think it was like less than a mile radius, a neighborhood he was working in closes over a hundred deals.

Speaker: Incredible.

Speaker: Most people don't work in area for a month, let alone an entire year.

Speaker: And so if you want to hear more about that, how he uses names, how he just leverages his contacts in an area, leverages community pages, HOAs, all that good stuff to close deals.

Speaker: Check this one out.

Speaker: You got to hear it.

Speaker: Okay, so those were the top nine podcasts of 2022.

Speaker: If you guys heard any others that you think should be on this list, send me them.

Speaker: Hey, I know people probably have their favorites, but by the numbers, these were the ones that did the best last year.

Speaker: So once again, appreciate everyone.

Speaker: And as we go into 2023, remember, set your goals, shoot for the stars.

Speaker: Let's dominate.

Speaker: Let's make more money and help more homeowners than we ever have in previous years.

Speaker: And I'm here to help you do that.

Speaker: So let me know if I can do anything for you.

Speaker: This is Taylor Armstrong signing out for 2022.

Speaker: Can't wait for you to see what's in store for 2023.

Speaker: We're kicking off 2023 with an awesome interview.

Speaker: So don't miss out.

Speaker: It's a guy in Texas, one of the top teams in Texas.

Speaker: You're going to hear.

Speaker: So we'll see you on that show.

Speaker: And here's the many more episodes to come.

Speaker: Keep crushing and peace out.

Speaker: See you next year.

Speaker: Hey, solopreneurs, are you sick and tired of spinning your wheels every month and not seeing your sales increase?

Speaker: Well, so was I, and the truth is I was never able to improve it until I figured out what was going wrong.

Speaker: So that's why I'm excited to announce for a limited time, we are doing a free sales diagnostic.

Speaker: We'll break down your sales process, figure out the holes in your business and see how we can help you improve.

Speaker: So at now we have six bucks for this month.

Speaker: So book a call now.

Speaker: Don't miss out.

Speaker: What you're going to do is send an email to taylor at solarpreneurs.com.

Speaker: That's taylor at solarpreneurs with an s dot com.

Speaker: I'll send you out a calendar link and we will figure out the time that works best.

Speaker: So shoot that email and let's increase your sales.
