Greg: Hello and welcome back once again to the Daily Saints Pod, episode number 501. after a big 500th episode yesterday.

Greg: My name is Greg. Once again today, joined by my good friend... Wonderful co -host, Zak. How are you doing, mate? You're good?

DailySaintsPod: Hello mate. Yeah, not too bad. just plodding along, as per usual, to be honest. a Bit weird that there's just no midweek football, to be honest.

Greg: Yeah, strange, but lack of football is something we're going to have to get used to after this weekend, right? When there is a an infinitely long international break for about three and a half years.

Greg: That's what it's gonna feel like.

DailySaintsPod: Good love.

Greg: Uh...

DailySaintsPod: the international breaks they're so was. the time.

Greg: Woo! But look. Just because the football... takes a little break and a pause, doesn't mean the news does. so Plenty going on around the club.

Greg: uh at the moment mate and i thought we'd just have a little episode where we caught up on some of the goings on some of the news and just have a bit of a chit chat about it really and and see uh how it goes

DailySaintsPod: We asked for.

Greg: So... So I think the... maybe the best place to start. team photo day today that's the the news on all of the social spread right i don't know if you've seen any of that

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, I've seen a little bit of it. More that somebody pointed out that Ramsdale looks like the happiest of the bunch. And again, I think that, you know...

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: I'll keep playing.

Greg: i mean I'd be happy earning that much money doing that little. Two. Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, like I think that he probably realistically would like to have been playing football more.

Greg: To be fair.

Greg: Yes, of course he would.

DailySaintsPod: by the sounds of it but you have to deal with that. that you know uh I noticed those in the background looking... absolutely miserable like he doesn't want to be there that could just be the fact that he's in his early 20s though that that feels like

Greg: Mm hmm.

DailySaintsPod: most people in their 20s when they're asked to take group photos so

Greg: just Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.

DailySaintsPod: I don't want to read too much into that Some people looking very stoic. it was just It was just funny. It's like first day of school vibes.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: It's when it really truly reminds me that like... these people like essentially leave school, walk straight into this job that they have essentially forever and has like similar dynamics right up until they leave.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: It's just just always fun to always fun to see the little photos.

Greg: Yeah. It's good. look I enjoy it. I think it's... good fun it's always interesting to see uh there's always someone that gets caught out pulling a daft face and uh What more could you ask for? But nice to see...

Greg: yanda back in a saint's kit as well right like I know we saw all the socials caught him at St Mary's watching the game on saturday but Good to see that back and coming into play. and and Maybe closer to on the pitch stuff. That's good, right?

DailySaintsPod: I don't really know if that's the case. I feel like being if you're able to stand in a field, that doesn't mean you can then do a full 90 minutes of football. But yeah, I agree with you. that like I think it's just nice to see him about, right?

DailySaintsPod: And it's nice that, you know...

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: I don't know what's going on there. I don't think we're ever going to get properly told, but it does feel... like a bit of an escalation, right? Like I just.

Greg: Mm.

DailySaintsPod: it was it was a small thing that meant he was out for like one game that seems to have dragged on forever. And we still don't really know. why but we keep being told oh just a little bit more time a little bit more time i get like medical stuff but it just You wonder.

DailySaintsPod: All right. That's what I say.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: That's what I mean. It's like the more.

Greg: Mm.

DailySaintsPod: More it goes on, the more people's minds are going to begin to get into wander.

Greg: Okay.

DailySaintsPod: And I'm already seeing sort of opinions of people thinking that he's gone in January and that he doesn't really. He is sort of more of a... No. moving on in the summer that's caused an issue which i don't to be clear entirely up to subject rumors right this isn't anything that

Greg: Meh. I don't know. I don't read too much into it, but I do know that actually at the moment we're in a position where... you know, hoping that the medical team can work their magic on Flynn Downs groin area.

Greg: Look, we we have a pretty strong midfield that actually Yanda might find it tough to... get back to a pace and get back to a level of fitness quickly enough to actually make an impact into so be I mean, what a nice headache that could be for Tonda to have at some point. but But yeah.

Greg: Good stuff.

DailySaintsPod: I agree.

Greg: Other news out of the club today that... is worth mentioning, but I mean, it is not exactly a discussion point or a surprise. South Coast Derby is a sellout game.

Greg: I wrote here on my notes also, water is wet.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah. but How? i'm i'm I'm so surprised.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: yeah It's not good.

Greg: Damn.

DailySaintsPod: To be honest, mate, it'd be more of a news story if it didn't. uh then i think we'd have some problems uh right but no the the south coast rb selling out is exactly as expected I'm sure it'll be an excellent day.

Greg: Yeah. No, no, generally.

DailySaintsPod: we'll see if it's

Greg: Maybe a good day, normally not a great game of football as to how these things tend to play out, but with the way current form's going...

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, but...

Greg: I'm excited for it Uh...

DailySaintsPod: I don't know. it's so way it's all we We say it out of all current form.

Greg: I don't know if we

DailySaintsPod: you know I think it's...

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: I think the... the The fascinating thing for me will be... Are they just going to police it and do it exactly the same? Is it going to be changed? Are they going to let things off a little bit?

Greg: it's bubbles it's all bubbles and stuff yeah i think it's going to be exactly the same

DailySaintsPod: So like... But like. yeah you know are they going to try and do anything more for the atmospheres because you know that's been a

Greg: No they don't care.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah.

Greg: Let's see. is not the concern of Hampshire constabulary mate i don't know what to tell you

DailySaintsPod: to To be clear, it didn't say Hampshire Constabulary.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Like, you know. are they you know are Are people picking things up? Who knows? but

Greg: No. Bleh. Without... trying to take too skeptical of an approach on it mate they got the 50 pound ticket money so that's the bit that matters Uh... As grim and dystopian as that is, it's hot cold hard facts, you know?

Greg: Uh...

DailySaintsPod: he Yeah, I guess so.

Greg: I don't know if we've talked about it on the show at all, but my household is very excited for the South Coast Derby because this is the year that my wife's given the green light for me to take both kids.

DailySaintsPod: Oops, sorry.

Greg: where she didn't let them go last year. So. so there is definitely some excitement but rampant uh in our household about what may or may not happen on Derby Day.

DailySaintsPod: It'll be fascinating to see. what they make of it and if they see it. as like if they understand how much more of an importance that is because obviously you can tell them but until you experience it

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: very different kind of fish right

Greg: Yeah. different. Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Okay. Fuss.

Greg: It's like Mimei, isn't it? Where you like you grow up and you know that you don't like Pompey, but you can't really put into words why that. that disdain exists it's just kind of bred into you isn't it like you can't help it

DailySaintsPod: I just feel like the i feel like the amount of time you spend in both South Sea and Portsmouth begs to differ on that one.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: But yeah, no, I i agree.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: is a There is a very... I feel like most people can't explain now, right? Like the history of it is fascinating, don't get me wrong, but it's incredible to watch watch the interviews.

Greg: Yeah. We did a whole episode if you remember last year.

DailySaintsPod: yeah it's incredible to like watch the interviews and it's sort of just you know Wow, that was the Dock Strike. something to do with fish and then someone crossed a line. that we've hated each other ever since, forever.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: And ever and ever and ever. And sport the became a catalyst for it, essentially.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: but you know Either way. It's not a shocking piece of news to me, Greg. that the South Coast Derby. So about.

Greg: No. not Not shocking at all. what next what next well maybe some i don't know if it counts as shocking news or not i mean you would maybe hold some officials in higher regard on the night.

Greg: uh about this new story that came out earlier in the week i think actually at the weekend of when EFL officials visited the Birmingham game and...

Greg: seemingly deliberately ignored. all of the Southampton executives for the entirety of the game. And then after the game just came out. and were like, oh no, we just didn't see them.

Greg: just despite being sat like in the same director's box. Uh...

DailySaintsPod: it It doesn't suck. Prize me.

Greg: No love lost, right?

DailySaintsPod: I just don't think that... I don't. yeah there There are members of you know that board that have ties to other parts of other clubs.

DailySaintsPod: they probably aren't. what they're going to chat about. Oh, this Birmingham City game is great.

Greg: Yeah. Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: I just, for me. you know there's still There's still the ongoing issue. still have Spygate because you've got, you know, the fact they haven't got on with what's potentially, what potential punishment Tonda's going to get. If any, we still haven't heard about it yet. Obviously, I'm... sure that's going to be a talking point either today or at some point because we still have yet to hear.

DailySaintsPod: basically anything.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: And. It just sort of... I'm not really surprised that a bunch of people that got mad at each other over a big thing

Greg: No.

DailySaintsPod: that cost a company tons of money. meant that all of the executives for both organizations were in a room. and decided to not have a conversation.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Because as much as it's like all the EFL people snubbed Southampton people. Like equally, it takes. Like if I saw you in a room, Greg, and you decided to try and look away. And then I actively come over to you and go. Hey Greg, how you doing?

DailySaintsPod: yeah and then you decide to ignore me that's that's snubbing if you if if two sets of people don't have a conversation That's two sets of people who don't want to have a conversation.

Greg: Yeah. Goes both ways, I suppose.

DailySaintsPod: I find it really weird that it's like, oh, we just.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: We just didn't see them. Whereas what actually they did is probably look over, realize it was the Southampton lot and probably shouldn't have that discussion.

Greg: Ugh.

DailySaintsPod: And equally.

Greg: This is not a chat I would like to have today.

DailySaintsPod: Equally excellent. But equally, our exec team were like, nah, I just want to watch our team play football, really. That's kind of why we're here.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: uh Also...

Greg: That said, right? We've talked a lot about Sports Republic and the image they want to create. Uh... I just feel like there's an easy win.

Greg: Maybe not. from a purely business perspective but definitely from a pure fan perspective of Dragan Solak gets caught joining in on some of the particular chants about the EFL that go around the stadium.

Greg: Like that's going on the wall next to Marcus Liebher right? Like that's...

DailySaintsPod: Well, yeah, but but ultimately as well. Like, in the nicest possible way, our goal isn't to... be sat in the EFL for a really long time the e official EFL officials aren't people we want to get so pally pally with because the idea is that by next season

Greg: Yeah.

Greg: Good night.

Greg: go get angry at an entirely different board of useless people.

DailySaintsPod: we shouldn't really have to have Yeah, just like when we got really angry at all of the entirety of the refereeing body for most of the Premier League season.

Greg: the

DailySaintsPod: Still think about that Wolves game where it was like, oh, Adam Armstrong might have tried to score. So that means that that goal. was technically offside, even though the ball didn't go to him at all and wasn't actually passed to him.

DailySaintsPod: whatever If yeah you know, which they immediately afterwards went, yeah, it was an incorrect decision or bad. i don't Actually, I don't know if that was the game before. I think the Wolves won, they doubled down on, but...

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, it's I just... I see it as a... as aimed on story. quite frankly, because I feel like neither party wanted to have a conversation. and Why would they? They're currently in active, you know, they've had active. legal litigation against one another recently.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: And... Yeah, it's just. You know, I'm i'm sure the EFL officials will come to St Mary's at some point to watch a match. Are we going to? Are we going to be so like paying that attention to that there?

DailySaintsPod: I think that people see there's just a level of pettiness there.

Greg: Yeah, we'll stick them in the away end and charge them £43 .50 for a point, mate. That's the way we're going to do it. Treat them like... Treat him like... real fans and see how they like that.

DailySaintsPod: I don't don't think that that's that they just wouldn't go at that point, mate. They'll watch it on their fire sticks.

Greg: Yeah. Oh, dear. Right. Next on my list of things to talk about. as well as firing well at the front line with obviously Kyle Lahren, currently the top scorer in the league. I think I saw earlier that...

Greg: And Finnazaz is the top assist in the league as well. but Didn't check it. Not verified. Just just saying it here. but Don't cite me on it. Buh.

Greg: Also... Uh... New signing Kevin Schlotterbeck is currently the highest -rated centre -back in the Championship by... uh i think fort mob match ratings which is uh

DailySaintsPod: Doesn't hugely surprise me. with how good he's been since he's come in.

Greg: Pretty nuts.

Greg: It's been sensational right?

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, for sure. like Again, there's been a few mistakes that he's managed to recover from, but I don't think we were expecting... the impact from him back quickly.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: and to be so substantial and you know we were so worried about losing. I... you know, Howard Bellis and what the impact that could have on the team. And now he is one of the ones where like.

DailySaintsPod: we're all kind of worried he won't be on the team sheet because of minutes, but seems to be able to get on it. every time without much of an issue. and has now created a problem for everyone else to try and get in right like

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: If anything. Jack Stevens has to play alongside him. He doesn't get replaced at this point.

Greg: Yeah. I agree with that.

DailySaintsPod: I think it was, again, like... a fantastic signing that i think that when we talk about our window both me and you kind of forgot about. uh

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: if i'm totally honest you know there was so much focus

Greg: Well, that's the crazy thing, right? Because we talked a lot about the insane value of Kyle Lahren. And the... ridiculous deal we got for James Ward -Prowse, both Like, it absolutely incredible in their own right, especially for how little we paid for them. But Kevin Schlottbeck. Three million. the initial fee right so Also... you know,

Greg: one of those low value purchases with a high... reward back already. And long may it continue into the season.

Greg: what uh

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, but I have no, you know, I think that we're doing, we've done been very, very shrewd in our transfer business. and We did a whole episode and multiple episodes discussing. all of our transfers both in and out.

DailySaintsPod: And... you know, Although we might have one. not so great. you know, transfer and in the midst the vast majority of them have been very successful and I think this is a perfect example of another one that has been.

DailySaintsPod: especially where it shows you you have the quality of our scouting department, because there were a number of targets that clearly...

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: were put ahead. of Schlotterbeck as we as we' like sort of discussed a little bit. I can't remember the name of the guy that went to the Fulham. That's a perfect example.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: So to be able to sort of... managed to pick someone like that. I think I might have even been the case of Laren, right? I don't know if Laren was always on the on the cards or...

Greg: I think we had a couple of other potential strikers on the line and then Larum was the one that came through and that was why it felt at the time like a fairly underwhelming January window.

DailySaintsPod: Well, I think it was an underwhelming window because we a vast majority of the time these new players come in, we don't really know much about them.

Greg: but

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: and at their previous clubs that, that you know, the... the stats don't like them on fire. Schlotterbeck's a bit different. But yeah, Laron is an example. Like, you know, it was... was over in uh you know the dutch league hadn't really managed to do anything all we saw were compilations of misses and bits and pieces like that Obviously, then we did I did like my my episode into his profile and started to think maybe there could be a player in there.

DailySaintsPod: It was just about unlocking it.

Greg: Mm.

DailySaintsPod: with it and that's the majority of our transfers and sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't and But yeah, I think that, you know, having him as... You know. the best. Defender, best centre -back.

DailySaintsPod: The highest rated at least. shows you how good that our window has been.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: And the fact that we rated it a B plus shows you the the level of expectation that they have now. raised whereas you know if you compare it to the window when we went into the premier league

Greg: Absolutely.

DailySaintsPod: We had one transfer. maybe two if you count Fernandes. That worked out. And, you know, Ramsdale, who long -term has not worked out for us, right? That was useful that that season to an extent.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: But pretty much everything else was a bit of a disaster. Whereas now. you know the expectation is but we would we expect perfection because we've you know, being pretty close to it.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: two two or two three seat Two seasons in a row.

Greg: It's kind of crazy. It feels a lot like we are... Almost back to where we were at. Right? Because there was a period of time where we had Really good.

Greg: Players coming up through the academy. and like huge prospects and Really good. business and suddenly we were discovering talents like Virgil Van Dijk and like Sadio Mane and like Graziano Pelle and like Dusan Tadic and we were getting these players in who then went on to do such incredible things both with and after saints and Then it kind of...

Greg: really dropped off and then there were a few windows where it was it felt like panic stations and no idea I think you alluded to it, right? in that We probably really didn't have an idea because it was just...

Greg: Russell Martin in a room talking to himself like well we need these transfers obviously and how can that be successful but it really feels like We've settled in you know, spores are settled in and set up his team to really keep delivering. and That's not to say that every single player...

Greg: that he signs is gonna you know have that kind of intact and be a win right like you can still get it wrong once or twice but man, the the average hit rate is real good at the moment in it.

DailySaintsPod: what would you i think that Yeah. I think if you... If you make more positive than negative. uh and you make you know and especially if it's like 75 to 25 or any higher than that ratio it's considered a success and that's exactly what we are after and that's exactly what we seem to have gotten

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: uh and like you know you don't be wrong there's still lots of things to criticize the overall strategy of Sports Republic. has and you know there is a worry that What happens if someone turns around and decides to pay?

DailySaintsPod: Spores a significantly large more amount of money to go somewhere else right?

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: retention is always a thing that I worry about. I think with the goal of going back to the Premier League, that seems to be, you know, something that he's bought into. So I wouldn't be surprised if you know he does stay longer term.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: But yeah, it should be, you know. it should be lauded the fact that you know we've got some really really strong. transfers that have happened in this recent reign. and hopefully long may continue.

Greg: Hmm. Indeed. Maybe... Building on that point of going back and youth prospects and all of that stuff, did you see...

Greg: The other news today that... 14 year old George Kift from our academy is moving to Manchester City's academy, which means that the clubs have until December to agree.

Greg: compensation, remuneration. something like that. whatever there they have to call it for it to not be considered a transfer fee Uh... George played in the under -18 squad last season. and scored nine goals.

Greg: Which is nuts for a 14 year old, right? That is... a huge step up. clearly a name to look out for in the future.

Greg: but

DailySaintsPod: It's... It's not just us though, right? it's This is a problem of academies across the board. getting pilfered, things happening.

Greg: Mm hmm.

DailySaintsPod: you know, what the the currently current most read. story. It's about JJ Gabriel. who became was supposed to become Manchester United's youngest player in history.

DailySaintsPod: And now they're trying to stop him from potentially leaving to Man City. right you've got these ridiculously high fees you've got all of this all centered around

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: children like let's not forget that like they're under 18 they're kids

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: you've got massive amounts of financial compensation moving back and forth. You've got bigger clubs with bigger... you know ability to pay massive wages to kids.

DailySaintsPod: that are essentially almost like hoarding, right? Where you've, you've got people, you've got all this, like, like we have made, we bought a load of Manchester city prospects, but you know, to be clear, we've, we've also been guilty of it as well.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Like there's no, I don't think, and I think that.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: quite frankly the whole system needs a little bit of an overhaul or at least looking into you because there's some insane stuff going on around. yeah what is essentially like payments for children and to call it you know they can't call it a transfer fee but there's a lot of pressure you're going to have.

DailySaintsPod: parents making massive career decisions for their kids as well. there's been a lot of, and I will, clarify rumors and speculation. that I've seen online. around JJ Gaybrews.

DailySaintsPod: like dad and and his influence into why he keeps moving around which It reminds me a lot of... Why have I forgotten his name? Arsenal captain. Greg, place for Norway.

Greg: Holy God.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah. Sorry, it's Odegaard when he first signed for Real Madrid, right?

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Remember, and it was there was a big emphasis.

Greg: He was linked with us, right? That was kind of a crazy period of time. Like there was a choice between.

DailySaintsPod: True, but...

Greg: I think it was genuinely a choice between us and Real Madrid were, I think at the time, the options, which is... I mean insane that our academy was at a point where that was even an option.

DailySaintsPod: But that was that was a huge thing, right? It was like only ever going to be Real Madrid. And there was a huge emphasis on like his dad making a lot of decisions. And that was a lot of criticism. And then he kind of started in a really young age in Real Madrid.

DailySaintsPod: and And obviously, like it's it's worked out for him to an extent in the end, but there was a long period of his career where you know essentially he wasn't playing because of bits and pieces that... have gone on and that was like very much the start of it and and now again you're seeing sort of massive decisions and career decisions being made.

DailySaintsPod: by, like... parents for their kids before they're even like 18. before they're even you know able to kind of really...

Greg: It's crazy It really is mad.

DailySaintsPod: And. And yeah, like, obviously...

Greg: that that kind of money being banded around and like contracts at that age like Like, when I was a full teammate, if I could scrounge together a few kids for... quid for as create a strong bow, I was happy. you know like

DailySaintsPod: 14, mate. Okay. Anyway, it's it's more like you did a whole episode. And if you look back, I'm sure that... people can find it if they can't find it on youtube it's definitely be available on all podcasting platforms.

DailySaintsPod: on sort of the impact of sort of money on youth and sort of talking about player mentality and it was originally off the back of Tyler Dibling and that's that's a perfect example because although he's a couple years older

Greg: Hmm.

Greg: Mm.

DailySaintsPod: amazing hot academy prospect comes into the first team starts getting linked with you know after we played against Manchester United I remember when we we did a crossover of the Manchester United podcast, and they were like, oh, it's fine, we'll pick up Diblin off you at the end of the year.

DailySaintsPod: you know Then sort of all of that. And then obviously we did sell him for a substantially large amount of money. And then so far. It hasn't really worked out for him. Jimmy J. Morgan, another example of an academy prospect that was poached by you know back to chil or to Chelsea's academy where he then never got a look in and now he's showing the whatever quality he has playing for West Brom and scoring for fun there.

DailySaintsPod: But it just... yeah i just think there's there's a lot of i just think that needs to be like a bit more of sensible heads prevail and a lot of a lot more regulation around that kind of stuff but i don't think i think it's going to get better before it gets worse and this whole you know whilst The story is ignored because this is a massive big club that potentially the youngster wants to switch to another massive big club.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: It's not the first time that we've had a like Academy prospect disappear to City. or alternatively there's probably not the first time that you know an academy prospect from somewhere else has ended up coming to us and Yeah, it's i don't know about you it just it just it all feels very weird Right.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: It feels like there's a lot there's too much money.

Greg: it's It is weird. It is a concern. But... Look. On the other hand, I hope that it really plays out for him and he goes and learns from...

Greg: you know undisputably one of the best set of resources and best academies in the world and goes on to be an absolute superstar and still at some point has

DailySaintsPod: Yeah. Subic.

Greg: Saints Academy prospect. on his resume when he goes on to to do that.

DailySaintsPod: To be clear, like nowhere well against these people.

Greg: But...

DailySaintsPod: I just think that, I just think it could do with, yeah, I just think it could do with being looked at.

Greg: slippery slope in it.

Greg: For sure.

DailySaintsPod: Like, I think that it's it's people, this it's going. people are getting younger and younger. This is happening to you.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: You're going to get like, sort of, you're going to get people battling for the signatures of like eight, nine year olds. And it's then it's going to get. just get getting a little bit bit crazy and andre you're putting that much pressure on people when they're that young to do well like you know what happens if something happens and And then.

DailySaintsPod: There's just a lot. It's just a lot of pressure to put on to put on kids. And I understand that academies are important. I just think that there should be a bit more of a sensible approach. That's all. But.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah, as you said.

Greg: That's it.

DailySaintsPod: Power to him, hopefully. you know, it works out for everybody in the end.

Greg: That's it. And speaking of young, hot prospects and having their eye caught by potentially massive clubs. Youngster Jay Robinson, who, of course, is out on loan in Italy. uh with Uh,

Greg: Bonza. The... Sorry.

DailySaintsPod: Definitely didn't need to Google that and have it to be fair.

Greg: No, I genuinely have it in front of me and still forgot the name. It's because I was... trying to allude to the fact obviously working with our former boss, Ivan Juric, is part of it.

DailySaintsPod: That's what I was going to say.

Greg: Really?

DailySaintsPod: I'd i'd have said even Juric's club, because, you know, Juric's club, because that's...

Greg: Yes.

Greg: He is... catching the eye in his time in Italy of giants into Milan. Uh, In his... time out there. He's played three matches. and scored one goal.

Greg: Uh, three league matches. He also had 76 minutes in the cup. and has done enough. with that time and it lead to capture the eye of inter Inter Milan who are said to be monitoring his performances.

DailySaintsPod: Okay, so so that that to me screams Shea Charles is being monitored by Manchester United.

Greg: to be even out.

DailySaintsPod: exactly like I talked about previously.

Greg: Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: Tyler Dibbling is being monitored by all clubs. uh yeah if the the headline here is young player on loan in country does well

Greg: Yeah.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: countries top clubs look at young player and go, Maybe he's worth looking into long term. like It doesn't hugely surprise me. It depends, right? The entire reason that Jay's gone out there.

DailySaintsPod: is that he he wanted first team football. if he does really really well and comes back and we get promoted he might get that in the premier league If not, he might now have an opportunity to be in you know some of the top teams in Italy.

DailySaintsPod: Fair play, it's exactly what we expected, exactly what we wanted.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: I don't know how he plays in that's in their system. I don't know what role he plays. I don't know, you know, the ins and outs.

Greg: Some sort of attacking midfielder if you believe transfer marked, but take that with a grain of salt.

DailySaintsPod: but But yeah, click clearly you know he wasn't going to get the time in our squad just because of... the nature of it at the moment and the quality we have.

Greg: Hmm.

DailySaintsPod: So it's exactly as expected. And if he is already getting eyed up by sort of... into Milan, it just means that he is doing exactly the right things and exactly what we sent him out on loan for.

Greg: Yeah. It's a win -win, right? He either does well enough to come straight back in and kick on with us and stake his claim to a place in the first team next year, or we just make a shedload of money off of sending him...

Greg: to someone else, but I personally would rather see that his success as being a Saints shirt, but obviously it's just not always the way it plays out.

DailySaintsPod: Yeah.

Greg: But that's it, mate.

DailySaintsPod: Bye.

Greg: That's our little news roundup for the day. We've caught up with... All the goings on around the club. Been some really good talking points. I enjoyed it. Good stuff.

DailySaintsPod: yeah same i think it's just a bit bizarre more than anything that we haven't heard anything That's from Tonda, yeah. or anything on Thunder yet. We've still got...

Greg: I just don't think it's bizarre at all. I think that These things, the bureaucracy. lives to serve the bureaucracy and those things mean that they take time. Just asked Eastleigh Borough Council about collecting my bins this week about that. so but that That is a rant for not on the air.

DailySaintsPod: No, it's also... the don't Don't worry, mate. That's every council across the country. And I think it's the...

Greg: system

DailySaintsPod: eb it's Specifically... irritates people because it's like the one thing that they look at their council tax they look at where it goes and they want it to go specifically into that's when it doesn't happen

Greg: Hmm.

Greg: properly visible. Yeah.

DailySaintsPod: it's really frustrating you know it's at least when we pay our money into going to watch the football we get to watch the football.

Greg: Yeah. Very much so.

DailySaintsPod: Sometimes they even play well. In fact, at the moment, a majority of the time.

Greg: Yeah.

Greg: And long may that continue. But look, that is all we have got time for today.

DailySaintsPod: Hehe.

Greg: So thank you so much for joining us. and listening today. Let us know your thoughts on opinions. Do we just need to...

Greg: join them and not beat them and start scouting under eights and under sevens teams just get ahead of the game? Or what implementations would you bring in to improve that?

Greg: slightly crazy. uh let us know we'd love to hear from you we are Daily Saints pod, absolutely everywhere. X, Blue Sky, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube. Hit us up.

Greg: and let us know your thoughts, your opinions. We love hearing and from you. While you're there, why not drop us a like if you've enjoyed the show and a subscribe. It really goes a long way to helping us out. and pushes us to motivate us to keep doing another 500 episodes of this daily show

Greg: But look, mate, we don't have to wait long for the football to return. This break doesn't last as long as the next one will. We'll be back tomorrow to talk about our upcoming game a away to Wrexham.

Greg: But until then... Have. A wonderful day wherever you are, and we will see you then.
