Every club, every day. The Global Sports Podcast Network. work Hello and welcome back to Daily Manchester City on the Global Sports Podcast Network. As I'm sure you're all aware, we're in the midst of an international break, so less Manchester City specific stuff to focus on, but all the better time in to discuss some irreverent football for this Wildcard Wednesday episode. we not We might not quite be Oasis, but I'm delighted to have the full band together today as I'm joined by Jack Ward. All right, mate, how are we?
00:00:31
Speaker
I'm good, mate. How are you? Yeah, happy to be here. Another fun Wildcard Wednesday in Bound, I hope. And Keelan McNamara. Hi, Keelan. Jules, hello, mate. I'm a very upset and letdown Ireland fan as normal, but at least I'm back with a team that does do some good.
00:00:46
Speaker
Well, we we can't we can't all be winners this week, can we? And that leads me nicely into, whilst I am tempted to completely colonize this episode by discussing Super Craig Bellamy's great start to life in the biggest job in Britain, I could perhaps be alienating some of the audience by doing so. So instead, we have a few other slightly more palatable topics to mull over.
00:01:07
Speaker
such as how the City players have got on over this international break.

International Break Recap

00:01:11
Speaker
Other interesting happenings during the week, City's EAFC 25 player ratings, which includes the biggest upgrade in the game's history, and perhaps seeing which one of us has had our spine removed. And no, we aren't live streaming surgery. We have each been given a lifeline to go back on one of our predictions for this season, and then we might even touch upon the lovely trend that's going around for the Barclays nostalgia. So stick around until the end for that.
00:01:37
Speaker
So first things first, several city players are featured for their countries. Harlan scored the winner for Norway against Austria in a National Nations League, sorry, Group B match. The Scandinavian side is carrying a 2-1 win to go top of that group. Surprisingly though, Norway have not been a team in form for a number of years really.
00:01:55
Speaker
I've got a couple of quick fire questions for you both. We'll just get through them speedy. and So I'm going to ask both questions, just both think about what the answers will be, and then we'll get back to it. So when was the last tournament Norway qualified for? And how many total tournaments have Norway qualified for? So just have five, 10 seconds.
00:02:18
Speaker
And Keelan, when was the last tournament Norway qualified for? Oh, damn, that's a Good question. I am going to say Euro 2008. And Jack? I kind of feel like you're only asking this because it may be some sort of trick question. But I'm going to say, was Euro 2008 the Greece one? Whichever one Greece won. 2004 Greece won. That's the one I'm going to say. I'm going to guess that one. And how many tournaments total? I'll start with you, Jack.
00:02:53
Speaker
three Three. Off my guess. I'm going to say two. OK, so you've both you both undercut me on that bit because, yes, you were both expecting it to be low. But the last tournament Norway qualified for was Euro 2000. And they've only ever been to four international tournaments, which I know you both said under that. But that is quite a mark. It'll be low low total. Only one ever Euros and three World Cups.
00:03:21
Speaker
so I'm the team's listed with quality now so they should be hoping to rectify that they've obviously got a big man up front but i have another big excellent big man in so long. Also is captain of the team's captain and martin oder guard doorman's julian rison and a please leo ostergaard at the back.
00:03:39
Speaker
The Premier League Sanderberg alongside FM, Jim Patrick Berg for a massive duo in the middle. Add to that exciting players like Antonio Nusa and City's own Oscar Bob when he comes back from injury. And that's quite a good squad for international level. Do you think Harlan can lead this team to the big time, Keelan?

England National Team Analysis

00:03:57
Speaker
I think he can, but as we've seen with a lot of different teams, international club, we see it with Christiana Ronaldo's Portugal.
00:04:07
Speaker
You know, one man is not a team. ah You know, you have to have a cohesive unit that makes and the individual players great. And I think you've made a very good point there, Junus, in laying out the actual pieces that Norway have. They have some banging quality players. You know, Oscar Bob Martin-Ottergaard, Alexander Sorloff, they have a really strong unit that they can put together. It's just in the last few years, they haven't shown much sign of really getting it together, which is strange.
00:04:37
Speaker
But I do think with, um, with the upgraded calendar and the more games that players are playing, missing out on the occasional tournament, it might actually help teams like Norway. But this, when you have players like Holland, Soloth, Ottergard and the other players we've mentioned, it does give them more time and more energy to perhaps target, uh, you know, a, uh, a competition run. So to answer your question, I think Holland's more than capable of it.
00:05:04
Speaker
but if he can get the rest of the pieces beside him and behind him to work, then he has a much better chance. Yeah, definitely. And, ah you know, being from the countries that me and you are from in particular, Keelan, I think any success either of ah either of our nations have ever had have been based on this cohesive team unit. yeah Speaking for for myself, Wales 2016. Yes, we had bail, but the team was completely built on defensive solidity. and yeah Just any, any excuse to go back into the glory days. I told you when you turn against Belgium. Oh my God. Oh, what a goal.
00:05:38
Speaker
That's a frame by frame of that up on my bedroom wall. I absolutely believe that. So i like I said, I'm not going to hijack this whole podcast talking about Wales. So we will talk about England a little bit. And they have Lee Carsley at the helm at the moment. And quite a lot of fans are pleasantly surprised, let's say, with his introduction into the England fold. um And for us specifically, his inclusion of Rico Lewis has been lauded.
00:06:05
Speaker
ah especially by City fans, even if it was at the expense of the unfortunate Kyle Walker, but we've seen Rico Lewis playing some fantastic football this season. And as we record this, he is starting at left back against Finland.
00:06:18
Speaker
um which is great to see. What are your thoughts on on that? And also on Grealish playing well the other day against Ireland, Jack? um So, be honest I've been impressed with Lee Casley so far. I mean, when they were talking about the replacement for Gary Southgate,
00:06:35
Speaker
he was the obvious pick, he'd spent time with kind of a lot of the elite development squad, the under 21s and stuff like that, kind of took a similar route that Gareth Southgate did and we kind of have a confidence in the way of kind of bringing these managers up through the ranks now.
00:06:50
Speaker
And I think he's a really good manager, you know, Keeling knows that he plays nice attacking fluid football, but I think that his biggest strength is going to be the fact that he spent so much time with the players that you've mentioned, Jules. Even we saw Angel Gomez in ah the squad the other day, he was a player who has been kind of his go-to man for the under 21s in that kind of deep, lying, kind of almost Perlow-esque role.
00:07:16
Speaker
And for a footballer who's like what five foot five, he's putting a lot of trust in him to play that position. But I mean, when we were talking about Rico Lewis, he's a player that Lee Casley trusts entirely. And you can kind of see that he's not bothered or not fazed whatsoever.
00:07:34
Speaker
about his age, his profile, his height. He shares the kind of same belief that Pep does that he knows he's capable of doing these things. He trusts him in that role and he also gives him all that freedom to kind of roam up the pitch. He started at right back but Rico loses a player that might start at right back but he'll end up wherever he wants to because he can play pretty much anywhere across the pitch. He'd come out and talked about that himself, how he's he loves to play quite fluidly. and I think it's exciting to be fair. It's the first time as an England fan I've been excited for our national team in a while.

Belgium's International Prospects

00:08:07
Speaker
Even when Gary Southgate had just come in and we were still in that kind of honeymoon phase, we all kind of knew that we weren't really playing very good stylistically football. It's a big flip with Lee Carsley and we've seen that. We've kind of really started to do well.
00:08:23
Speaker
you know, you're getting the best out of players who have maybe kind of not done so amazing the past couple of seasons. It's it's good signs. ah We obviously saw him playing midfield for the first time in God knows how long. So maybe that's the kind of start of a new kind of resurgence for Grealish. Pepper thought, you know, till the sun comes up about how impressed he has been.
00:08:45
Speaker
so far in training, in pre-season and in his intensity. It could be a huge season for Grealish and I'm looking forward to seeing him in a blue shirt and an England shirt. Yeah, for sure. um It definitely feels like a new era for England. And it's much of the same mold as Southgate. he had ah He did a lot of work with the Anders before he got the opportunity. um And we've even seen some of the top international teams go down this path now where we had, um Spain's manager has won tournaments with them in every age group until this point.
00:09:16
Speaker
And before that we had Joachim Lowe did the same for Germany. So this ah this is a pathway that does yield international success if all the building blocks are in place. so And it seems with England's last few performances that those things are in fact in place.
00:09:31
Speaker
But there's a team that we're going to move on to now that doesn't quite have those foundations in place and keeps falling short of why where the squad quality should lead them to be. And that is Belgium, captained and led by Kevin De Bruyne. They also have Jeremy Dokku in the squad too. And they're convinced to be Israel 3-1 at the start of the international break, but lost 2-0 to France last time out. With Courtois, publicly speaking, out against manager Domenico Tedesco during his treatment ah yet because of his treatment during the Euros and announced he won't return while the Italian is at the helm. So just quickly, Keelan, has KDV's chance of national silverware passed him by without that everything happening in the Belgium team? Yes. Definitive.
00:10:15
Speaker
that would you like to would you Go on. I mean, I could elaborate, but we all know the reason why. The problem is this Belgian team for years has been one of the most talented squads in Europe, but there's never been any cohesion. There's never been any teamwork. It's been a lot of ego-fueled drama. We've seen Courtois and De Bruyne. I'm not going to get into that. They've relied on Eden Hazard for a long time when he was in the team. And the truth is, this is a team that has always been able to attack and hurt opponents, but it's never been able to defend, you know,
00:10:45
Speaker
Jan Vertong and Toby Alderweireld, for example, were always pretty good at Tottenham. But when it came to facing top players in the international stage, they got exposed. And the truth is, and it's no slight on Kevin de Bruyne because he's carried this Belgian team for years. But they had their best chance a few years ago at the World Cup in Russia, and they they just couldn't get the job done. And they're not going to get the job done now.
00:11:11
Speaker
Yeah, I'd agree. they They were good, to be fair, in that in that tournament. And they only lost lost out to France, who eventually won it. Which is no shame at all. There's absolutely none. I agree. But it did feel like that was that was the moment that slipped past. And it's a shame because someone is amazing and wonderful and a legend such as Kevin De Bruyne.
00:11:32
Speaker
missing out on our international trophy. It won't hurt his legacy to us, but, you know, discussing it to other people, that that is kind of one of the separators people have for their all-time great, isn't it? How did you achieve with your international team? But alas, I don't think it's all his fault. um And that'll bring us nicely to

EAFC 25 Player Ratings Discussion

um Hi and welcome back to Daily Manchester City on the Global Sports Podcast Network. We're here for another Wild Card Wednesday and we're going to get stuck straight into the new release of the EAFC 25 player ratings.
00:12:53
Speaker
I personally am getting a little bit older and my FIFA slash yeah EAFC days are a bit behind me. I'm more of a football manager man myself, but it's undoubtedly still at an enormous game and a huge part of football and culture. Last season City were obviously coming off the back of the incredible travel winning season and and the player ratings reflected that. We've seen some changes to this year's edition, mostly all positive as you'd expect after ah after another trophy-laden season. Has anything in particular stood out for you Keelan?
00:13:21
Speaker
Yes, so as people may or may not know, I'm like a bad relationship, I'm kind of addicted to EA FC, you know, I hold on to the clinging memories of FIFA 14 and the hope that the game might get like that again at some point. But alas, we move. And so I'm just going to run the people through a couple of the headlines here, because obviously, ratings are important to the game. And being Man City fans are very relevant to us as well. Erling Holland 91 All right, so as I was saying, um I'm gonna run the people through a couple of the headlines here for our EA FC25 ratings for Manchester City. Being City fans, they're obviously very relevant to us and we care about them very much. Erling Holland, 91 rated, joint highest rated player in the Premier League in EA FC25. The staff speak for themselves. He's rapid, he can shoot, he's a beast physically. What more do I really need to say?
00:14:15
Speaker
Rodry Ballon d'Or contender potentially this year for City, as I think he deserves to be. 91 rated, same as Erling Holland. Again, he's not the most mobile player, but an absolute beast in midfield. The passing division, the range, it's all there. High IQ, defensive awareness goes without saying.
00:14:34
Speaker
Kevin De Bruyne, one of my favourite players of all time as I'm sure you both agree, has gone down one rating to 90 overall as opposed to 91 last year. I think the only reason for this is because of the six month injury last year so I can kind of understand it but the quality is without question. We see De Bruyne getting back to his best this year so expect an upgrade around January for Kevin De Bruyne as well.
00:14:59
Speaker
ah Phil Foden, you boys are going to like this one. 88 overall. And his card is a right wing card, not an attacking mid, so... and Higher than Sakha as well. Yeah, higher than Sakha in the same position. mar Arsenal, GSPN, get in touch, we want to see it with this.
00:15:17
Speaker
i have So Foden, we've obviously got some good stats here. 86 pace, nice to see him reflected accurately. 90 dribbling, I mean goes without saying again. 85 passing, all the works, the card looks brilliant. Bernardo Silva, 88 rated, another centre midfield card, which I like to see because he thrives in the middle, as we've talked about before. Ruben Diaz, 88. Guys are rock at the back still, really not much has changed there.
00:15:45
Speaker
Edison's 80 as well, I don't think his ratings changed much from last year either. Ilkay Gundogan, my feel-good story of the year, 87 rated. Deservedly so. Deservedly so, absolutely. Central midfield card, 62 pace. He's never been the quickest player in the world. 87 dribbling, 85 passing, 83 shooting. He's going to be a very good card for you to use in the game. And then the rest of the the rest of this isn't much home to write home about. John Stones is the same as last year, 85 rated, which again, he was in and out of the squad with injury. That's fair enough.
00:16:22
Speaker
Jack Grealish, 84 same as last year, very high dribbling, other stats could use some work. And then Kyle Walker, same as pretty much every time, 89 pace, 79 defending, 81 physical for an 84 overall rated card. And we've also seen, although I don't have them to hand at the moment, we've seen big upgrades for Oscar Bob and Rico Lewis, which is great to see. And that is your es that's your EAFC 25 ratings report brought to you by GSPM.
00:16:53
Speaker
Hey, look but look at that. I do actually have one thing to add though, and which is what I alluded to at the top of the show is and there is a Man City player you've forgotten to mention who's had the biggest upgrade in the game's short-lived history. And that is Kiara Keaton.
00:17:11
Speaker
For the women's team. Let's go. So that's off the back of her breakthrough season and in a WSL And also get in her first caller for England last year as well. And she has had a plus 20 added to her overall. She was a 62 last year, wasn't she? She was a bronze non-round. And now one of the best keepers in the game. So there you go. Although the fact that there are women keepers in the game, they are all smaller, which if you tried to save the finesse shots, Keelan, you'll know. They get peppered in that top right corner if you've got one of the women in that, just wanted to point that out. Still fantastic players. It didn't didn't stop Ika Kasyas, did it? No, it didn't. But yeah, that's about that's about everything that we could discuss, EAFC. Here's some more ads and we'll be back, all going back on our very strong worded predictions from the start of the season.

Revisiting Pre-Season Predictions

00:18:35
Speaker
Hi and welcome back to Daily Manchester City on the Global Sports Podcast Network. This is another Wild Card Wednesday and now for something a little bit different and potentially something that will make us all look like fools, which is great fun. We've each been given one lifeline to break free the shackles of the pre-season prediction we might we might have simply got all wrong.
00:18:55
Speaker
Obviously, we are all aware it's still incredibly early days this season. The sample size is too small to be conclusive, yada, yada, yada, but where's the fun in that? So, I'm going to start with you, Jack. What's been burning away at you? What early shout needs changing? I mean, I'm kind of a... I don't want to change. You want to say that all the people are thinking... No, no.
00:19:18
Speaker
but Right, I know the one that everyone wants me to say is the Fulham Shout. Currently, I have Fulham sitting in 18th in my prediction. Am I going to say steadfast on that? I mean, currently, as the table stands, Fulham are 12th. They've got four points, one draw coming against Ipswich and one win coming at home against Leicester. I'm still not convinced by Fulham. However, when I put that prediction,
00:19:46
Speaker
they hadn't done any of the business that they've done since, which has been pretty decent business since. So, I mean, I suppose I kind of do have to take form out of the relegation zone because they're not going to go down, are they? not They're not going to go down. They've done pretty decent business considering the funds that they got in for the plays that they lost and they've kind of replaced somewhat adequately, but I still don't think they're going to finish above, you know, 13th, 14th. So I'm actually going to swap. I'm going to do a swap.
00:20:16
Speaker
So I'm going to take Fulham out of the relegation zone and I'm going to put Everton in there because Everton have had a horrid start to the season. So direct swap for me, Everton finishing Fulham finishing 13th, although I'm not happy about that either, but that's the one kind of prediction that I think I'm pretty much having to go in and change.
00:20:38
Speaker
Yeah, Everton have been truly woeful at the start of this season. and I think Sean Dyche tends to have seasons that start slow until the teams come back in a more cohesive shape. um But everything about it has just been a woeful start. But they didn't they did have an equally bad start last year and a point seduction. and so yeah maybe it's not okay that They've had a really tough start in terms of games. They played Brighton on the opening day.
00:21:07
Speaker
um And they have played Tottenham at Tottenham, which is like seven of the goals that they've conceded. So it has been tough, but that that Bournemouth game yeah yeah is pretty andexally it's inexcusable.
00:21:19
Speaker
It was the and the latest ever three goal comeback in the Premier League that was. so And it was such a shame because Bournemouth, I think each of us had tipped them to be very safe, decent season, build off last year. And Everton schooled them for 80 plus minutes. yeah They looked really good. But then that that collapse when when you've already had a bad start as well, that is not a good sign for me at all. And so.
00:21:49
Speaker
Keelan, what prediction has got to go? It's funny you mention Everton, because that's mine. So for all you fine ladies and gentlemen out there who recall the Premier League table prediction episode, I had Everton in 12th, which is sounding almost as bad as Jacob. I had him in 13th, so he's not much worse.
00:22:10
Speaker
But I'm going to have to, and I love Everton, and I don't want to spoil the next segment, but I'm going to give you a hint. There's rumours David Moyse might be coming back to Everton. That's all I'm saying. Chang beer sponsoring Everton again.
00:22:25
Speaker
um Yeah, I'm going to have to walk back my effort and prediction and the reason I'm going to have to walk back my prediction is I specifically said their defense might be the reason they stay up and that collapse against Bournemouth was just unforgivable. you know I can accept if it's a close game and you can see the couple of goals. That can happen to anybody.
00:22:46
Speaker
But when you're whipping Bournemouth for 85 minutes of the game and you look comfortable and in control and that first goal goes in and you fall apart, that's just, that can't happen against a team like Bournemouth. And that's their disrespect to Bournemouth. But what that signals is, if you're that vulnerable and flimsy against Bournemouth, what's a Liverpool, what's a city, what's an Arsenal gonna do to you in that situation? So I'm gonna have to put Everett near the relegation zone because for the very reason I thought they'd stay up might be the very reason they go down. That defending was just atrocious. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Again, totally agree. And Bournemouth could have scored five or six to be honest. They finished with higher XG than Everton. And I think they only had their first shot on target in the 80 plus minute.
00:23:34
Speaker
And Everton was, Everton was smashing them as well. I think they had over two XG and Bournemouth still finished with more, with 10 minutes of play. So yeah, not good signs for Everton. Back to my own pick and we're going to go a bit higher up the table for this. So I went over my table and I think there's probably loads I've got wrong, but God knows what the right answer is yet.
00:23:56
Speaker
um ah had but I'm going to go with I had Manchester United in fifth, and that's the one I'm ready to throw fully in the bin already. I'm i'm not fully convinced by fourth plate my fourth-paste pick Spurs yet, but I've got a lot more faith they're going to come good than United this season. But below them both, I had Aston Villa. And yeah we yes, we get to see the impact of the Champions League on Villa, which was my whole basis for having them sixth.
00:24:21
Speaker
But this isn't Unai Emery's first rodeo. And i've seen I've seen enough that Villa are definitely going to finish above Manchester United this season. and um So that's my going back on myself pick. I'm glad you've come round to your senses and and put United a bit lower than you ought to initially.
00:24:38
Speaker
I just thought they'd done some good business and they've they've got some quality players and and I just thought the Champions League is going to knock Villa for six and it still might but as a team I can't sit here and say United are a better team than Villa because that's just simply not true.
00:24:55
Speaker
It's actually funny, on the topic of, I know this isn't a Man United podcast, heavens no, but on the topic of the business, I do have to point something out, because we haven't really had the chance to record since before the international break, Mateus Delect against Liverpool looked absolutely cooked. I mean, I get it. The Netherlands as well, looked really good. Yeah, exactly. awesome And look, it's his first three games in the Premier League and I get that and I have no problem with that.
00:25:22
Speaker
But boy, he struggled to adapt to the pace of the league. That was actually quite worrying to watch. And it makes you wonder if you and United are having to rely on that kind of defensive profile. They could be in real bother in some of these games this season.
00:25:39
Speaker
i I think a lot of the United team defensively got torn apart in that in that game. So I'm not ready. I'm i'm not ready to write off the left yet, because I do think he was great until Casamiro, Casamiro had a stroke. So there there is, I think there is potential, but you have to look at it as this is his third elite club now and two of them.

Barclays Era Nostalgia

00:26:02
Speaker
Well, to it, I'm drove him to the airport trying to get rid of it. Yeah. That's the one thing that always kind of gets brought up with the licks. It's like, Oh, well he's played for all of these top elite clubs, but at the same time.
00:26:15
Speaker
How come he's not staying there? That's the one thing that keep kind of keeps popping up in mind. But you think he's only 23. He is only 23. And then you look at someone like Van Dyke, his compatriot, who didn't really start playing top level football till his late 20s. So there's still plenty of time in the locker for Delette.
00:26:33
Speaker
in my opinion, but to go off Keelan's point, I do think he does look a little bit sluggish, doesn't he? His turning circle doesn't look great, and all the pace and power in the Premier League, that could be something to watch out for, but I'm not willing to throw him in the bin with my prediction quite yet.
00:26:49

um but So we're going to move on to our last last segment of Wild Card Wednesday and that is going to be discussing, I can already see Keeling grinning from ear to ear. Let's let the nostalgia flow through us guys. There's been a trend this week of prime Barclays with some nostalgic indie teams to go alongside it. So We have each got a pick for um a streetsworn forget nostalgia hitting into the veins player with some excellent tunes alongside it as if we were all going to put out our tweet, but we're going to do it via the medium of this lovely podcast. So since you I can see you can't even contain yourself, Keelan, I'll start with you. What's your prime Barclays pick?

Oh, it's so good seeing the Barclays trending again. it It makes me happy and warm inside. It really does. um there's so many I mean, obviously, we we agreed we were going to be city specific. There's so many non-city players I could have picked. But we're we're going to respect the rules and we're going to keep it city. There's so many players I love, and I'll give them a shout out when you're both done because I don't want to spoil your picks.

and June, so I'm not going to your country because that was where I was going to go. I am going to go, if I think of prime, you know, Watt House, Premier League, Barclays Heritage, I think Emmanuel Adebayor, and I think that goal against Arsenal. The slide that's getting spat up from the crowd, that was one of the best days. Watching it match the day and watching Ian Wright disgusted with what happened, it was just a heritage.

It could not have been any better. And we also agreed we'd all pick a soundtrack from our favourite era to basically go along with the player because that's the trend obviously. Claire highlights and goes and just brilliant music to go with it. And I'm going to pick Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand. Oh, that is such an heavy tune. I love that song. So good. and how How are you going to follow that one up then, Jack? Well, it's great. I mean, I completely share every sentiment and feeling instead. Seeing this trend,
00:28:55

back on Twitter or for the first time has been so refreshing because it's just so great. I mean, there are yeah it's like that thing where they say that lads could just sit in a pub with a pint and just name old football players and have ah the best time ever. And this is li literally what this trend is. and Great pick, by the way, Keelan, absolutely fantastic.
00:29:18
Speaker
I'm going to start with the soundtrack because I feel like you have to set it up with the soundtrack and then I'll bring the plays in later. So for my soundtrack it's going to be Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John. Great little indie track there. How does that go Jack? I don't care about the young folks. Can't believe you just... Top man, top man. Keelan, you said you're not going to go to Jules's Countryman. I'm actually going to kind of cheat here because I want to go to both of your countrymen because if you think about City,

we've had some great cult heroes and they try and say right that top six teams can't get involved in this trend but back in Prime Barclays we were a Prime Barclays mid-table club which is exactly why we can get involved in this team so I'm going to pick two you players and I don't care it's cheating but because they were just absolutely Prime Barclays you said him at the start of the episode Jules Craig Bellamy used to be my favorite player ever and the other one who's so underrated yeah so underrated and the other one who just completely epitomizes prime battle is for me Stephen Ireland so Stephen Ireland or Craig Bellamy over Peter ah Bjorn young folks that's my pick drinking for the soldier
00:30:29
Speaker
Drink it in, drink it in. Well, I suppose that just leaves my pick and it's ah hard to, hard to follow up those two absolutely nail on head picks. But I'm going to go with someone who I have mentioned on this podcast is probably, uh, other than De Bruyne are my favorite ever city player, and resembles a lot of the same things De Bruyne does. And I'll go with, I'll do what you did, Jack, and set up the team first. So we're going to go block party helicopter.
00:30:58

dan and in and in in on it in Yeah, that to me screams Prime Bartley's heritage. And my player is Ilano. Have to be. had to Have to be. Just so much fun. Yes, it was short lived. Yes, it wasn't like Ronaldinho levels of quality. But there were moments there where you'll just watch it him go in. Yeah. How on earth does he play for City at that time? Your you know montage has to start with that free kick against Newcastle. Absolutely. Absolutely court absolutely does. Yeah, I think that was his first goal as well, wasn't it? Might have been, yeah. I think it was, actually. Yeah, yeah. And what a way to announce yourself. And to to the back end of some block party, I think we could we could all just watch the watch that on our loop. What a month after you'd picked. Do you remember Gia Varley? Him and Alana were in that same team together, weren't they? Phenomenal. Keeling, quickly. Just rattle off a few Barclays men off the top of your head. Just outside, just regular Premier League Barclays men.

oh mom where do i even start i mean charles and zoby you know gibriel cce headers Oh, yes. I don't know. and Johan El Mander from Bolton. Yes. Oh, yeah. I like that. I like even peear from average yeah stephen fee ah that. Benny McJarthy at Blackburn. Oh, my God. We we could do this for literally a month. This is literally the manifestation of that, of what you just said, Jack. Because every player was just like, oh, oh, amazing. Oh, amazing. This is why I love this trend, right? You can keep the UF accounts and you can keep politics. Twitter, this is what Twitter for just naming random, primarily Barclays place. This is my favorite time. Maybe I've ever been a football fan. This is brilliant. Morton Gams Patterson. Do you remember that trim? Old Trafford was petrified of Morton Gams Patterson. Amazing.

Oh, he was good. He was good. I think I'm a little, I must be a little bit older than you guys because these all feel like slightly on the newer side of things. Um, my kind of prime Barclays, like maybe your kuboo era, Mark for Duke, uh, you know, those big old boys that also had amazing feet and just smooshing in gold. I mean, it's a bit of a loony now, but the tits.

Southampton days. I mean, Matt Leticia, what a fantastic player. One of the best English players of all time. usually He just doesn't have ah any opinions that are worth airing ever, so deserves to crawl back into his Guinsey hole. But there we are. um And that's a great way to end the podcast. So hopefully Matt Leticia isn't listening. But this Wildcard Wednesday has been a pleasure as always. And and thanks again to Jack Ward and Keeler McEnamara.
