Hello and welcome back to the Daily Manchester City Podcast on the Global Sports Podcast Network. I'm Jules Jordan-Probert and today I'm joined by Lewis Royal. Hi Lewis.
00:00:19
Lewis
Hi Jules, it's good to be here and hopefully a win on the weekend over here.
00:00:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I'm good. I'm looking forward to, there should be a good game between City and Newcastle. And so off the back of the Epic Champions League playoff, first leg defeat to Real Madrid, which was exhilarated and heartbreaking in equal measures. City turn their attention back to the Premier League and welcome Eddie Howe's Carabao Cup finalist to be Newcastle United to the Etihad.
00:00:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
and in today's episode we'll be getting into all things preview in that match. It has the potential to be a real blockbuster game between two iconic Premier League sides that cannot be separated by points or even goal difference after 24 matches in the Premier League season. City are in 5th on 41 points narrowly ahead of the Magpies on account of goals scored, City's 48 to Newcastle's 42. Regardless, City will be hoping to channel their imperious record over the visitors over the past 20 years, especially in the Premier League. City haven't lost to Newcastle at home since the turn of the millennium, September 2000. That was of course at main road, both teams were not owned by Middle Eastern billionaire regimes and Lewis wasn't even born.

Since 2006, City have only lost three times to Newcastle in a total of 39 matches, two of which were in the league cap, including the one that lost at St James's Park last season.
00:01:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
That means the Sky Blues have dominated Newcastle in the Premier League in the 34 games played since 2006, City have won 27, drawn six and lost just once, scoring 89 and conceding just 21 in that period, which must be some sort of record.
00:01:50
Lewis
No.
00:01:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
So with that devastating late defeat in mind, Lewis, and the return leg of the Burnabout imminent, how important is a good performance here to regain some momentum?
00:02:03
Lewis
Yeah, it's it's massive, like we said before, after our after another loss, how big it is to bounce back. And it's like, I'm sounding like a broken record the amount of times that we've had to have this discussion after after such a an annoying defeat, if it's not a draw against Fenebache, after being 3-0, then it's it's a loss. And ultimately, we've seen it against Real Madrid before, where where they scored two late goals to win it in in the Champions League semi-final before. Now it's not even at the round of 16 yet, and and we're suffering like that. And I think that it's just silly mistakes at the back, which is what we've seen all season. It's not our season this year. And I mean, Edison is is not on form. He's not.
00:02:48
Lewis
He's nowhere near his best and it's just, yeah, I don't really know. I don't really have much words to say. I don't really have many positives. All I'm going to say is that a win on the weekend is massive, especially for our top four hopes. If we're going to recover, be revitalized for next season, going into the Champions League and hopefully deal a bit better with it better with the new table format.
00:03:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Just on City's defence, City have the third best attack in the league this season, only scoring one goal less than Arsenal and a few less than Liverpool, of course, but City have the 10th best defensive record in the league, which isn't a good number at all. It's simply not good enough at this stage of the campaign, is it?
00:03:33
Lewis
No, it's simply not. i mean the clean sheet The difference in clean sheets over the last of the last season compared to the last well five or six seasons is it's ridiculous, especially at this stage. We're now nearing March and we're not seeing any changes. and yeah Like you said, we've always been in an attacking side. We've always flourished in the final third.
00:03:52
Lewis
And obviously we've got players who do know where the net is with Erwin Haaland being the main one. Even with De Bruyne out for most of the season, Foden picking up injuries, not at his best. It obviously is the defence, the structure in the midfield. And obviously Roger being in a massive absence that has caused us to lead goals. But again, that all comes from confidence and team morale. positivity from Pep and yeah, ultimately the vibe in the change agreement.
00:04:19
Lewis
It's all the most negative momentum once we've lost a few and it's it's just carried on and we've ended up like like teams that we used to batter going through a torrid time. So yeah, hopefully there hopefully we can finish the season as strongly as possible with Roger coming back as soon as possible.
00:04:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and considering the difficulty of the challenge awaiting Pep's side and the preservation of their status in the Champions League in Madrid next week, would it be fair to say that a Premier League has taken on even more importance now? It seems finishing in the top four or five is the only way City are going to play in Europe next season.
00:04:56
Lewis
Yeah, it it does. I mean, top five should be enough. But if we lose on Saturday, then what we're now doing, we're then down to six with Newcastle. It's basically a six pointer. Like you said, we're on the same point, same goal difference. So I think it is really vital. Because if if we don't get top four, then it's just the FA Cup to hope for.
00:05:17
Lewis
But yeah, we need to be playing Champions League football with treble holders two years ago. it It would be devastating and it would be a massive fall from Greece. We do need to keep competing above the best because the players we've got and and the standards that we've set as a club, as now a massive club, it's is is of great importance, definitely.
00:05:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
And, um, like, like you say, travel winners only 18, maybe 19 months ago. I think drawing rail Madrid is incredibly unlucky. Like, let's be honest, it doesn't get much worse than that, but city put themselves in the position to do it with, um, collapsing against final, like you said, and losing away to Juventus and the toothless performance and.
00:05:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
PSG capitulation as well. But I think it could be forgiven to get knocked out by Real Madrid, right, by the fanbase. What would be unforgivable is not being in the competition at all next season.
00:06:11
Lewis
Yeah, no, definitely. ah ah yeah can't complain but You complain when you bottle a 2-1 lead in the 86 minute and it's it's Englishman Bellingham and former City player Raheem Diaz to score the goals, which is obviously typical. But yeah, you you can't complain with the mentality and obviously how giant Real Madrid are as a club but and how prolific they've been in in European competitions. I mean, if they win it 14 times, is it in total the most ever?
00:06:38
Lewis
so Yeah, you can't really complain about that, but it wouldn't be, it wouldn't be forgivable to not make top four after, after winning the league four times in a row. it It would be quite bad. I mean, we're still with the quality on the pitch. It's not like, <unk> it's not like we're a mid table side on paper. were so We still should be challenging for the titles. Yeah.
00:07:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, definitely. And just back ah back to Newcastle, and the last two meetings between the two teams have been quite close. Obviously, this there the reverse fixture ah towards the start of the season was one all, with City's best attacker, Jasko Gvadi, scoring in that one.
00:07:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Anthony Gordon's penalty, counselling it out. And in this fixture last season, it was a narrow 1-0 win with Julian Alvarez with a solitary goal. Do you see it being similar this time around? And Newcastle have definitely improved a lot over the past couple of years, haven't they?
00:07:36
Lewis
Yeah, they definitely are with the investment like like we did with our investment. And I think Eddie Howe's a great manager. you He knows what he's doing. He's organized. And I think the plays he's brought in have not been world beaters, but they're slowly becoming that. I mean, the transformation of Joel Linton, for example, from being a lackluster striker with with no end product to being a a solid midfielder. I know he's injured for Saturday, which is good for City, but yeah. And I do think that it,
00:08:05
Lewis
In terms of a score prediction, I think that I'd like to say we'd win. I think there's there's a few goals in it unlike unlike recent times. Hopefully Gordon doesn't cheat again and dive and earn Newcastle a penalty, which wasn't great.
00:08:21
Lewis
But I'd have to say, I would have to say it' two on that.
00:08:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
cake I was just going to say keep it to the end, but it's fine.
00:08:25
Lewis
Gone.
00:08:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's fine. Go on.
00:08:29
Lewis
Yeah, it's fine. I couldn't hold it, sorry. I would have to say 2-1, or maybe even a 1-1, it depends, but yeah. No matter what happens, we can guarantee we'll concede later on.
00:08:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that's that's a pretty solid bet these days. and Well, if you can't decide between between them them two, over the course of the next 20 minutes, I'll get you to specifically pick one and stand on business.
00:08:52
Lewis
no
00:08:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're just going to take a short break. When we come back, we'll get into Newcastle a little bit more and about Pep Guardiola's thoughts about this game.
00:09:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome back to the Daily Manchester City Podcast on the Global Sports Podcast Network. We're reviewing City versus Newcastle on Saturday. we just talked a little bit about how Newcastle have improved over the last couple of years. They lost 2-1 at home to follow them last time out, and but in general have been an excellent team, especially over the last few months. Of course, buoyed by Alexander Izak's outstanding goal scoring form.
00:10:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
hitting eight consecutive Premier League matches in a row during that time. Newcastle, of course, recently bested Arsenal in both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-finals, reaching the final of the competition for the second time in three seasons and giving Newcastle the opportunity to win their first major trophy since 1955. That's a criminal amount of time for a club that size. So where do you see the strengths and danger to City in that team?
00:10:37
Lewis
I think, just first of all, it's definitely the midfield, like I mentioned with Joel. And even if he's not playing, the introduction of Longstaff or Joe Willock is still good enough to contend with Howard midfield this season.
00:10:50
Lewis
Tenali as well, I think has been a great sign in for from AC Milan. Obviously after his after his betting scandal, I think he's he's come back and he's...
00:10:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
He felt like a new sign in, didn't he? He feels like a new sign in after coming back after that long.
00:10:59
Lewis
Yeah. It does, yeah, it definitely does. And I think that he's he's so solid in midfield. And then obviously, were je one of our January targets, Bruno Guimaraes, I think, is obviously superb. He's so passionate about his game as well. You can see he just he just loves playing football. He loves being out there. And I think that he's definitely in danger, not just defending and and tracking back. I think also going forward, especially especially on the counter, which Newcastle do.
00:11:27
Lewis
do do so well as we saw against Arsenal and I mean to beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates is is huge so i wouldn't I wouldn't put it past them to do it here. It would be the first time in 25 years like you said but if if there's a season to do it it would be this season.
00:11:43
Lewis
In terms of fullbacks as well this year I think that Lewis Hall and Liberamento have been superb, Liberamento specifically I think to take the place of Trippier I know he eka you played against Arsenal in the League Cup and he did superb
00:11:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Agreed.
00:11:56
Lewis
We know how good Trippie his career has been, but I think for the future and for England as well, that Livrimento is definitely one to to keep an eye on. Obviously with Walker now out as well, him and Trent really will be battling for that spot. And yeah, Lewis Hall I think has been superb in left back. and Obviously still on the young again, another Englishman. I think it's great that I've seen English manager and Eddie Hart is producing the these english these English talents. I mean, look at Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon.
00:12:26
Lewis
revitalization of Jacob Murphy. He's actually been scoring i mean a couple of seasons ago because fans might not have even had him in the squad. so
00:12:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
i thought he was i thought i thought I thought he was rubbish, but he is he is he's been absolutely electric this season.
00:12:35
Lewis
yeah
00:12:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:12:41
Lewis
yeah it' some Sometimes his brother was taking the headlines for Oxford and things like that. um Cardiff so yeah I mean and then Isak the main man up top there's nothing more needs to be said really he had a bit of a rough start but then he's just been scoring goals for fun especially since the turn of of the Christmas break and I definitely fear him running at our defense for sure
00:13:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, um want to pick up on a few things you said there. Firstly, on Lewis Hall and Liv Remento. Yeah, definitely. I think they've both exceeded and maybe the what people expected of their but development, right? They're both still very young players, but they were playing Trippier right back and Dan Boon at laugh back.
00:13:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now that they've got these players in the full back positions, they feel like they've got so much more energy and there's so much more dangerous on the counter attack, aren't they? Because Lewis Hall and especially Livro Mento, they're very direct players, and Livro Mento loves getting forward, bombing on down that right-hand side, know where Trippie obviously has good delivery, but you're quite limited in what you can do with him, aren't you?
00:13:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
And he looks like, as most full backs do at that age, you know, just look at Kyle Walker, the legs start to go, and it's hard to compete in the Premier League at that point.
00:13:45
Lewis
yeah
00:13:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
But yeah. Eddie Howe has done a great job, as we both mentioned. there He's probably the best English manager in the game today. and Where do you think he can take this team? Or do you see him personally moving on to greater heights in his career, perhaps?
00:14:04
Lewis
i am In terms of the Newcastle team, I think the with a few more signs to come, I think that it's all of about consistency for him and his squad. We know how good they are at home, but they also have been quite good away this season.
00:14:18
Lewis
I think if they can secure the second Champions League qualification this year in what, three years, three, four years, and and do well, they competed against the likes of PSG and Dortmund and the groups. And I think that there's definitely definitely trophies to come.
00:14:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
A group of death.
00:14:32
Lewis
Whether it's a league cup this year, who knows if that's going to be the start. But in terms of Eddie Howe, specifically as a manager in his career, I'd love to see him at England when when two shuls reigns over. However long that will be, we will see him. Only time will tell, but yeah, I'd love to see him managing England and winning trophies for us. I think that to have an English manager do that, Eddie Howe, he's been in the Premier League for so long. I mean, just look at what he did with Bournemouth from league two. It's astounding. It's it's a miraculous story. And yeah, I do love him as a manager. I think he's brilliant. and
00:15:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, definitely. That Bournemouth achievement is unprecedented, really. Swansea did it a couple of years before that, but Eddie Howe oversaw a new stadium and all sorts. they couldn't eat They didn't even have a legal stadium to get in the Premier League when they first got in.
00:15:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
So yeah where where they are now is all down to him here I always obviously kicked them on sense, but yeah, Eddie Howard's got a really really good CV. This just getting better. So yeah after two cool has had a few years. We'll see what he does. But yeah, Eddie how especially if he starts winning trophies in Newcastle has got to be the next man for the job. I would agree.
00:15:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
You talked about Bruno Gimmarais. He is definitely someone that have improved City's team this season, that's for sure, in that holding position. and He's been playing a little bit more advanced over the last month or so, and but it just shows how versatile he is.
00:15:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Like you say, he can defend, he can go forward, he can control games.
00:15:55
Lewis
Yes.
00:15:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's got that killer pass in the final third. And this is what Pep has had to say about this game as well and about Bruno. So, Pep said, they have a lot of threats and a lot of positive things. Bruno Gimmarais is one of them, not just this season. For two or three seasons, he's playing at a high level since he arrived from France, and now he's more advanced. Tenali makes more happen in the central role, but both can do it all. The physicality, speed, long balls, set pieces. It's an experienced and solid team already. Of course, congratulations for reach reaching the Carabao Cup final, but playing one game a week, it can be unbelievably dangerous.
00:16:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
without the Champions League so I think he means because they don't have Europe they're always going to be more dangerous.
00:16:40
Lewis
Yeah,
00:16:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Pep went on he said they qualified for it then had it and and didn't qualify with a lot of injuries but they will still be a top four and five contender until the end. So what do you make of those comments by the boss Lewis?
00:16:51
Lewis
I think I do agree with him. Europe can be, it can either Hindi or it can help you. You can either gain momentum from it ah ah in the week or you can lose momentum like we have clearly and then It can also help you with injuries. It can obviously fresh fit our legs. I mean, just look at Newcastle's team. They've had, even with the league cup, they're still looking fresh in the Premier League. And like I just said, it's that it's the lack of consistency. But yeah, I think Pep, we know how much Pep loves a midfielder and how much he he likes to develop midfielders careers. And I think that Bruno would have been a great signing for us in January. It's not.
00:17:30
Lewis
out of out of question for the future yet who knows anything could happen realistically in going into summer and into the the next season but yeah like you said is his ability going forward with Tenali now was sitting deeper I think it works so well six assists this season, a couple of goals for Guimaraes and I also think it's his discipline in midfield. Last season I think he was one of the most m carded players, both yellow and red and this season he's he's not even like near the top of the list. I think that shows his maturity as a player is getting better as as he does get older because he is still quite young and I think that yeah easy yeah his ceiling is is very high wherever he goes. I don't think he'll stay at Newcastle, I think he will
00:18:13
Lewis
achieve greater things, but yeah. and The fact Pep speaks so highly of him must mean a lot, so yeah.
00:18:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
and probably validate a lot of the rumors that City were looking at him as well, right? Because I think they must have been.
00:18:26
Lewis
Yeah.
00:18:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Probably, well, before Rodry got injured, of course, a hundred million was the quoted price. And that felt like a lot for someone you couldn't guarantee first-team football for. Since then, he would have started every single game with how the season has panned out for City.
00:18:40
Lewis
Yeah.
00:18:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think it was just before you joined the pod that me, Keelan and Jack, did like and kind of transfer episodes August and me and Jack both said the number one player we think City should sign.
00:18:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
They were both from Newcastle. I said Isaac and he said Guimarraj and you can only imagine how different the city the season would have been for City if those two signs had been made.
00:18:59
Lewis
Mm.
00:19:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
They would improve any team in the world I'm sure. That will do for our preview of Newcastle versus City. When we come back we're going to have a look at some of the other Premier League fixtures from this weekend.
00:19:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome back to the Daily Manchester City Podcast on the Global Sports Podcast Network. I asked you earlier, Lewis, to do a score prediction. You said maybe one all or two one city of the last 15 minutes made you any clearer to a decision.
00:20:02
Lewis
they've made me less confident talking about new castles and a strengthen in depth but no I'll go with to one I'll stick with it I think that it's a solid prediction and exactly
00:20:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Back the boys. Back the boys to bounce back. A lovely little alliteration for you all.
00:20:17
Lewis
so
00:20:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
So we're going to have a look at some of the other Premier League fixtures. You won't go through them all. Just a couple of the standout ones. So firstly, Friday night's game, Brighton versus Chelsea. Normally goals in that one.
00:20:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Palmer had four in the reverse fixture, of course. Another player that could have been playing for City. But I digress. How do you see that one going? Brighton have been in a bit of sticky form of late.
00:20:41
Lewis
Yeah, well, we've just seen Brighton defeat Chelsea in the FA Cup, haven't we? 2-1. Also at Brighton, which is like the game tonight. I do see, like I predicted when we did the last predictions for the FA Cup, I didn't think Chelsea would win. Maybe the leagueup isn't the biggest their FA sorry, isn't their biggest aim this season. i mean Realistically, it should be. They do need a trophy back to the club, like many London clubs do, not naming any names apart from Arsenal. But yeah, I think that Chelsea will get the job done at Brighton. Like with Newcastle, Brighton are quite inconsistent. Like we mentioned before, this season not been up to their strengths of what we've known of of the last two or three seasons, because I i did really like them and how they were playing. They do sit 10th this season. Chelsea is massive for them.
00:21:30
Lewis
in their bid to try and get Champions League after a torrid couple of seasons. They are on the comeback. Palmer being the main instigator of that, obviously was it four goals in one half? The the record he set against Brighton at Stamford Bridge, which is stupid.
00:21:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joke.
00:21:43
Lewis
so So yeah, if I had to give a score prediction, I'd probably say 3-1 to Chelsea.
00:21:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
three one And yeah, Chelsea are probably the team that you'd think that City are going to be competing with come the end of the season, right?
00:21:55
Lewis
Yeah.
00:21:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hopefully both get in so it doesn't come to that, but it feels like that's kind of City's level this season. Chelsea have been very good at parts and also not very good at parts, same as same as City, I guess.
00:22:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
So yeah, that that Champions League qualification race will probably go right down to the wire. And you mentioned ah ah other London clubs that could do with a trophy and and one that was mentioned was Arsenal and they travel to Leicester and they're still in the hunt chasing Liverpool down. Claude a bit of distance back after Liverpool dropping points in the Goodison. Merseyside Derby, my bad, the last one at Goodison. Do you think Arsenal will have too much for Leicester?
00:22:36
Lewis
yeah i think so i mean lester when we when they play city i thought they they were superb and obviously city did come away with all three points but i thought that if if they did have better quality going forward obviously jamie vardy we know how good he's been but he is getting on a bit then they would have punished city and i think that they would have took something from that game so who says they can't do it against arsenal i mean arsenal i know that as in city so uh even though the premier league table says different However, I do think Arsenal will get the job done. If I had to give a prediction, I'd maybe say 2-0. I don't think it'll be a batter-in, because Leicester are fighting for the lives down there in, what, are the 18th at the minute. So I think that every point is obviously going to matter. And and at the king power, who knows what could happen.
00:23:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and they deserved to probably beat Man United in the FA Cup recently as well, didn't they? So they're competing better, but they're still not ultimately getting those results.
00:23:26
Lewis
Yeah.
00:23:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yeah, like you said, the 18th, only two points away from Wolves. But it probably will be a very tough end to the season for them.
00:23:41
Lewis
It's a shame VAR is back for the prem because Leicester could have scored an offside goal to beat Arsenal like United did.
00:23:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Speak. Go on.
00:23:50
Lewis
That would have been nice, wouldn't it? But unfortunately not.
00:23:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that that was a travesty of a decision. Just to add to the many travesty of decisions that have been throughout the last few years, VAR has been fantastic for the game, absolutely.
00:24:06
Lewis
no fluff
00:24:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
speaking of wolves they host oh no sorry Liverpool host wolves Liverpool is still still at the top of the table seven points clear of Arsenal in second only ten clear of forest in third I keep forgetting about them and talking about Champions League qualification and they are ah ah well they've been a brilliant team this year six points ahead of city as things stand You'd think it would be more, I guess, right?
00:24:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, like the way that everyone's talking about the two teams, but City were only a handful of points away from Liverpool in November.
00:24:35
Lewis
Yeah.
00:24:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that's how long it took for the cards to fall. But back to Liverpool versus Wolves, Liverpool obviously going to be reeling from Everton's last gasp, last gasp equaliser in that Merseyside derby.

Obviously, Arnus slotted a lot to say about it. Too much to say that you think Liverpool will get back to winning ways here.
00:25:02
Lewis
Yeah, I think they definitely will, yeah. it They're obviously going to want to bounce back, but the mentality that they they've had this season in the Premier League, I think it's It's with no doubt that they'll beat Wolves. Wolves again struggling, fighting for their lives, but I don't think they're going to get anything from the game at Anfield. I think that in transition they're not good enough. Obviously losing a few of their main players. Pedro Neto, Mateus Nuno as he was, very good for Wolves. and Score prediction would probably even go 5-0, something like that. I think that Annie Slott and Liverpool will be very annoyed after the
00:25:35
Lewis
theatrical limbs of Tarkovsky's amazing volley I mean the security guard on one of the videos I've seen just going mental is is fantastic it's great to see and so yeah it's helped Arsenal's title hooks out again as well but I do think that this weekend Liverpool will extend that lead again

and It goes to show that the Premier League, you can never take anything for granted, especially in like a big game, a big derby like that. But Wolves, they did win 2-0 in in a Midlands derby against Villa in their last game in the Premier League. Wolves fans will hope that will be a turning point, but yeah, it's ah ah going to be a big old task keeping Liverpool an angry, a vengeful Liverpool out all game.

So yeah, take a brave man to bat against on a slot side there and finally we're gonna look at Spurs Hosting Manchester United a game that in previous years might have had a lot more on the line than it does now Maybe it still has a lot of the line relegation context, but very different to what we expect from these two teams Surely there's gonna be goals and mistakes in this one.
00:26:23
Lewis
know
00:26:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Surely it's gonna be a good game It normally is between these two Lewis
00:26:46
Lewis
Yeah, it's it's a very scrappy game. it's It's not got much quality throughout the game. I do think that It'll be a good watch for the neutral because hopefully there'll be quite a few mistakes.
00:26:58
Lewis
Hopefully no offside goals and hopefully they will be given offside. But yeah, I mean, King Charles spoke to Sam about how he thinks the game would go. He had no idea what was happening, but Sam was quite confident.
00:27:09
Lewis
He was saying, he was hopeful.
00:27:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh no, elaborate on that. I didn't see that. Elaborate on that.
00:27:13
Lewis
That he was, don't know where it was, but King Charles was talking to Sam and saying, who are you playing this weekend? And he was, yeah.
00:27:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Who are you playing? How are you playing this? We can't draw her.
00:27:23
Lewis
Yeah, basically. There was something like that, yeah. I just about made out what he said.
00:27:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
And the son was just smiling at him, was he?
00:27:28
Lewis
But yeah. Yeah, just there grinning. No, but he did seem hopeful, to be fair. Why wouldn't you at home see United? I mean, yeah, you've got to be hopeful with it.
00:27:38
Lewis
But yeah, you literally never know. I wouldn't bet on it. I wouldn't tell anyone to bet on it because who knows? It could be six all. It could be nil-nil. We don't know.
00:27:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I mean, both teams have been really bad this season. Like, but you know, like you could say and unfortunate lack for Spurs, but then that's happened for so many teams. I mean, matter I'm not going to let Spurs fans complain about injuries, seeing what have happened to City this season.
00:28:06
Lewis
so know There's terrible.
00:28:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
But yeah, Man United have not had injury problems. They're just not very good. They haven't been good for a couple of years. They were overachieving, really, um under 10 hogs, to be honest. If you look at their expected goals and expected points and stuff, they were just above relegation zone for about 18 months. So yeah, there's a lot of work to do there before the noisy neighbours or anywhere in the city.
