Speaker: As Heidi walks through the planar door, closing it behind her, she, without saying a word, she turns to the right and heads back towards the tail section.

Speaker: And as she's walking, she removes the antenna, her antenna device from her arm and just drops it on the floor as she exits one of the person doors in the back.

Speaker: Okay. Odie sees that, like, he's kind like, gripping his face. Like, he got pretty fucked up. um Like, he took some kind of hit to the head. um And ah he sees you do all that, and he's like, ah Miss ID, are you alright?

Speaker: She stops as she's about to open the door. Odie, I'm not alright. Well, we can at least get you some medical help. like we can We can find somebody in the market who can who can heal you.

Speaker: I just need to rest. Okay. um i i i'm I'm here if you want to talk about what happened. I i know you want i understand you want to rest. I i need some rest, too. But i just I'm sorry today went so south.

Speaker: Me, too. And she opens the door and walks through. And when she gets to the garden, she stops by Grimley's pool.

Speaker: And she sits on the... and Does Grimley's pool have, like, an edge that she can sit on? Yeah, i mean, it's it's a ring of water. So, like, the the ground is the same. It's, like, basically level with the water.

Speaker: Oh, okay. There's no wall around his pool. It's level, so he can he's built like a sea lion. She's going to stop by Grenli's pool, and she's going to take her boots off and sit down and put her feet in.

Speaker: Okay. And you see those lights, Gremley's binaluminescent lights come up from his hole no deep in the water. And ah he pokes his little head out to see you.

Speaker: And from the way he's approaching you, like he can um so he can read emotions. that's how they communicate. um So he puts his little tentacles up to grasp your hand. she puts her She instinctively, without really looking out, just puts her hand up.

Speaker: Grimly, something happened today that really messed me up. I don't know what you know about what Odie and I do.

Speaker: i guess if... Okay, let's try this. um If you do know what we do can do three short tones, and if you don't, do two long tones. Yeah, you get three shortron short tones, I guess.

Speaker: Oh. Okay, that makes it easier. if Well, we were on an artificial world today, and do you know what ai is?

Speaker: You get... Yes. Okay. i I don't mean to sound... I don't mean to, like... I'm not trying to sound condescending. i just I literally don't know what you do and do not know, because you come from a plane of magic, so...

Speaker: and I've never been, well, I'm in there now, but like, you know what I mean. Okay, well, when we got there, AI hacked my antenna, which is very rude, and I didn't think it was possible, but it turns out that this AI...

Speaker: was someone from my past, from my home, that i had thought I left far behind. And the fact that he somehow found me is not only near inconceivable, but terrifying. And I don't want to tell Odie because you know how he is. Although he probably knows.

Speaker: but just I just thought I left that all behind, Grimly. And ah like you get the impression that he's really, like truly listening to you, but like obviously say you can't understand a word he's saying. But like through his like soft tones and like angelic singing of a voice that he has, you can tell that he feels sorry.

Speaker: And he also feels bad that you're hurt. And he actually, like, while you get that feeling that he feels that, um he wraps for one of his other tentacles ah around your left arm. That's kind of fucked up. Like, it might actually be broken. um And I know you don't like slimy shit on you, but, like, people.

Speaker: Like, it's almost like this, it's kind sound gross, but like, he puts like this mucus on you, on your arm. Okay, so and maybe I don't, but I think I.D.' 's probably fine. With Gremly. Yeah. With Gremly slime. Yeah. um But like, he pulls his tentacle back from your arm, and like, you're left with this slime in your arm. first it's like, oh. But then you see like, your scratches start to close up, and your arm feels a little better.

Speaker: you know, like, he's healed your wounds on that arm. How long can you, how long were you able to do that? He's getting a little chuff. This whole time? He's a fucking dragon. Like, how can he do?

Speaker: Well, Ivy sure has no fucking idea. You're even trying to talk to Gremly but not, like, understanding Gremly. Well, I mean, there is a language barrier.

Speaker: Well, thank you. That's simultaneously gross and sweet. He has a little purr. It almost sounds like a laugh. but Yeah, I just... For the first time since I left home, i am genuinely scared. And I don't get scared, Grinley.

Speaker: you think I should talk to Odie?

Speaker: He doesn't say anything, but he pushes his head in your chest. Kind of nuzzles you. Okay. That either means yes or no, stay here and snuggle me. I'm not... ah You get three short tones.

Speaker: Okay. We're making progress. Slow, but we're making progress. He's get yes-no answers. How are you at the written language, Gremly?

Speaker: um He ah looks around, but then he puts one of those big tentacles his in the water, and he draws out like an icicle. He actually freezes a little bit of water, and he draws it into the dirt um next to you.

Speaker: It is language you don't fucking understand. Like, it's it's it's it's almost like a... Like, you get the assumption this is maybe his written language. um But as Odi mentioned before, no one's been able to translate that. Even your translators don't work on draconic language, at least Fendrillion dragons.

Speaker: um But he writes a word into the dirt. Okay, okay. Hold Hold on. She goes and she grabs one of her journals and like copies down like verbatim, not verbatim, know what i mean? to Exactly what he. His old glyphs. Yeah. Okay.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Now, I've got to figure out what this means, but that's for later. um We'll come back to this. ah This is actually, I mean, I would be overjoyed if it was a different day.

Speaker: um Thank you, Kremlin, for listening. And he gives you a little chuff and you get a sense that he's happy. Like, he still had some sadness in there. Like, he feels bad for you. But, uh, you get the impression that he's just happy to talk to you.

Speaker: She, she continues on to her room. um and as soon as she gets in, i imagine that, like, by the door there's, like, an intercom.

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, there's, like, the old shit from when the buzzer was still operational. Like, that's kind of untouched in this area. Like, when you find your room, it's... Odie's never messed with it. So, like, everything here is, like, as if it was... God knows how long ago.

Speaker: Yeah, she's never had to, like, try and get... Like, communicate with Odie without using her antenna before, so... Ah, yeah. Actually, you know what?

Speaker: she's going She's going to pick up patches... And she's going to hold him and she's going to stare right in his face and she's going to say, i need you. Listen, listen now.

Speaker: I need you to deliver this message to Odie. Okay? Okay. and no No, I'm not waiting for a response because I know you can't respond.

Speaker: um Hold on. I'm just going to try and rig a ah ah quick and dirty like ah ah recording an audio playback system on patches really quick.

Speaker: Do a quick little tinker. Yeah. Roll for that, I guess. Seven. Okay. It's mixed. I mean, it's probably not the clearest audio. Oh, no. it it was Or clearest. Like, oh you have a video camera on there, right? But, like, it's probably not the yeah best recording yeah playback.

Speaker: Okay. Grainy, fuzzy audio. That's what this will work for now. You recording? Shit, I didn't put an indicator on. Well, let's just hope you're recording.

Speaker: This is an invitation to OD to enter my private sanctum for the purposes of having a very uncomfortable conversation.

Speaker: One time only. one time day one One day access pass. Wait. expires in twenty minutes wait Expires in an hour. Let's see how long his passion's got to take to go across the plane.

Speaker: Expires at the end of the day. And she sends him on his way. Okay. um And she's just going to like lay down on her bed. Okay. And wait.

Speaker: Just staring at the ceiling. And like you get a knock on your door like 10 minutes later. understand that was quick. Who is it? It's me. I've got your invitation.

Speaker: How do I know it's you? May I come in, Miss ID? Not until you you tell me how I know it's you. I... Tell me your biggest fear.

Speaker: What is his biggest fear? um It doesn't matter what his biggest fear is. It's what I.D. thinks his biggest fear is.

Speaker: is it Is it using the restroom, Miss I.D.? Well, only you can answer that. ah But, okay, I'm convinced that it is you who who is afraid of pooping.

Speaker: You can come in. all He opens the door and he's like, that is not my greatest fear, but we'll go with that. And he's he's holding Patches like, just like, you would a kitty.

Speaker: Don't coddle him or ho he get he'll want to be held all the time. I find him quite charming. And he puts him down. Patches just like kind of this sits there because he has nothing else to do. Yeah, and you see he like, Odie's dressed down. Like, a pee Doesn't have his lighter jacket on and his white shirt is kind of torn up.

Speaker: um And he's got those like blue stains on it. Like he's, he's had a rough day just like you. um His head's no longer bleeding, but you can tell like he's trying to fix it up. Like he was maybe in the middle of it. And ah he's like, ah to be really fair, how I got your invitation so quickly is ah I didn't necessarily follow you back here. I was back here doing something else.

Speaker: Okay. i just one to make You were back here doing something else and that something else was waiting for me? No, i I was making some repairs and getting new clothes.

Speaker: um But how are you? Is the clothes? I thought the clothes wardrobe was over by the workshop. Well, it's like halfway. Oh, okay. Yeah.

Speaker: Well, he was like, he stopped there and he was on his way back to oh you. right. That's fair enough. Listen, and you may want to sit down.

Speaker: Actually, i don't know whether you want to sit down for this or not. ah No, you better sit down. Oh, okay. The chair. All right. Yeah, sit on the chair. So, that AI who tried to kill us, I have a terrible feeling that I know who it actually was.

Speaker: it was Desmorian, wasn't it? say his real Is that his full name? Yes. ah Though he preferred to be called Des, I suppose. Mm-hmm.

Speaker: I don't remember. I got the inclination of that when you said that AI knew your name. Who else would know your name? Right. Exactly.

Speaker: Nobody. Though I'm wondering how why and how and why he's out not on his plane.

Speaker: That's unheard of. Inconceivable, I believe, is the word you're looking for. Yes, that's a better word for it. i i've I was struggling with that since we've got back.

Speaker: The only way he could have gotten off that plane is through a planar door. And we know he didn't follow me. Certainly not.

Speaker: I was wondering if maybe there was some technology that was missed on that ship that he could have messed with. I don't know. i don't think there was. I didn't take the chance when I first got to your world to explore the technology of your people your your your ancestors. It was quite impressive, but it's nothing like we have here. there's there there was there's no end There's no indication that planar travel was even something that they even thought was a thing.

Speaker: Like, there's just nothing about it. It's only the space travel. And oddly enough, only to the other planet. i just... yes Why... That is weird that they just stopped there and didn't continue.

Speaker: Well, then if they did continue, then we would never know about it if they didn't come back. Right. is this Surely there'd be some report of like a rogue. And she just she's she's getting way off track.

Speaker: A rogue ship. Miss Heidi, I must admit something to you. I feel that I am personally responsible for this. She's going to put her head in her hands. Odie, we've been over this. I know, but why else would Des be so vengeful?

Speaker: i To go after you? i know! What did I do to him? you did assail him with ah with a pin, buts or needle, but... Assail? Please.

Speaker: I poked him. Yes, but he was under the impression you were trustworthy. I'm just... ok What gave him that idea? I don't know. like We were the ones that left him in the woods. We were the ones that, I mean, I was the one that dropped a horse on him.

Speaker: I could have killed him. Maybe he's bad about that. Well, then why did he come after you? he doesn't know that was me. you he all He only knows that, I'm assuming he only knows that you were the last one who attacked him.

Speaker: Surely he doesn't think that his eye drops up cliff I a horse on him. i don't know. I mean, I'm pretty strong, but I don't know if I'm that strong. Why else would he go after you? I don't know. Just... Like, we spent a day.

Speaker: Two days. i No more than two days together. It was barely a day. i Sure, yeah. he counted that When you visited your town and you left at night, a day and a half tops.

Speaker: And the only thing I did was the exact same thing that I am for sure he was going to do to me. did you get that impression? I was traveling with Des for several days before he met you.

Speaker: He seemed like a decent person. well And to be full honest, Miss Heidi, he didn't know how to use that sword. I've seen him try to use it to defend himself, and he wasn't very good at it, but... Well, I wasn't worried.

Speaker: but I never got the impression that he was a violent person. Well, he apparently was. So, i mean, what all I did was poke him with up with a needle and get a little of his blood as insurance.

Speaker: Yes, but we did also take the map, which led him to something he's been searching for for all his life. So I'm beginning to think that that was the reason.

Speaker: Well, whatever the case, for right now, I can assure you that the Buzzard is shielded with technology from Graham Moore. He most likely i could not hack me.

Speaker: It's not possible. these i'm i'm I'm hoping it's not possible. Yeah, but we also thought it wasn't impact possible to hack my antenna either.

Speaker: Yes. Because it was based on fixer tech. Based on... this it's not It's not... It's... Hold on respect, beside it, is a cheap replica of what makes me, me.

Speaker: But the technology in here is very closely mapped to what I am. It is... It's kind of terrifying how impressive his work was to get into this.

Speaker: Yeah. Like, the dude hardly knew anything. I had to explain everything to him. Like, why else would he need me? Like, if he was super smart, he would have figured it out on his own. But no, he needed me because I'm super smart one.

Speaker: Well, it appears you're not the only super smart one. Whoa! Listen, there's no read you know's no reason to, like, insult me. no I'm not insulting you, Visite. I'm telling you what has...

Speaker: kind of become the truth here. How else would Dez know about all this? And you see him get a little nervous. Like, he's kind of twitching his fingers, and he's like, i you dropped this. And he brings out your antenna.

Speaker: I, I can't trust that anymore, Odie. If Des, this old idiot from my world, can figure out how to hack it, then literally anybody can.

Speaker: It's a liability. Yes, but you have to have some equipment if we're going to be going on on missions. I can help you make improvements to this, to make this Des-proof.

Speaker: I have. And she like. Like leans under her bed and like you can hear like there's like papers rustling and she starts like pulling things out and it's like, no, that's not it. And like it's just all it's just like sketches and notes and there's a tic-tac-toe for whatever reason. Yeah.

Speaker: She hits boards sometimes. ah Don't know who she was playing with, but... um And she's like, oh, here. And she pulls out this. It's it's rolled up.

Speaker: And she unrolls this piece of paper, and it's a blueprint for an upgraded antenna and lens.

Speaker: So I've been sort of like... Planning. Planning ahead. i guess. um If you want to help me, I'd love to help.

Speaker: I'd be more than happy to help. I but i don't want a repeat of today.

Speaker: But we might have to see I-Lab. Okay. um We can certainly see if they're home. And she rolls off the blueprint.

Speaker: I need to make sure that this is going to be 100% sure, as sure as we are, that that you can't be hacked, that it can't either.

Speaker: was kind of hoping that maybe iLeb might, since he's got that fancy new computer, you know, might be willing to program the new antenna?

Speaker: Well... Anything iLib has is far more new than anything I have here in terms of technology. So, yes, I'm i'm sure. Well, don't, don't. Listen.

Speaker: Okay, well, I guess there's no sort of nice way to say this. ah Yeah, you're right. ah Your whole shabby, chic aesthetic, you do you?

Speaker: but That's not how I roll. Why do you?

Speaker: I gotta stop reading those books. this Um... Don't take offense. Oh, no offense at all. I am... Both me and my station are far behind on upgrades. Well, that makes sense, doesn't it?

Speaker: Your mom's not very nice. Absolutely not. Well, whenever you want to go to Ilo's, I can see if they're home and see if they... Wouldn't mind us paying them a visit. I'm sure to do any kind of service will require some sort of fee. But they'll be able to help.

Speaker: Hopefully not the same price as last time. I would certainly hope not. I've had the discussion with Violet that I do not want to get anywhere close to Grey L'Amour. So no more Akumia City for doing their errands.

Speaker: um She reaches over to the antenna that I am assume Odie is still holding. yeah he kind of like put it in his lap. um And she takes out the memory card.

Speaker: Maybe he would enjoy whatever information i was able to download from weird-ass city. Information is valuable.

Speaker: And she looks like she wants to say something. She kind of like looks up and then like looks away. Like, you have the impression that like she is having a hard time looking Odie in the eye. then um I'm scared, Odie.

Speaker: i And that's not a thing that I am. i am never scared. Well, it's completely understandable to be scared. it's It's completely acceptable emotion to have. it's i mean, it's there's no shame in being scared. And it's you're right to be scared. I would be too. I am.

Speaker: Truthfully. Then she like she like you know she's like looking down for a second and just mulling over his words. And then her head snaps up and she like stares right at him.

Speaker: Wait a second. Were you able to fix the fracture? ah I did not. Okay, but is that bad then? That it didn't get fixed?

Speaker: No, it got fixed, but it wasn't by me. i As soon as I realized it was gone, i went to find you. Okay, and she like looks very concerned. Then, who fixed it? Because if you're about to tell me that Des fixed a fracture... i don't I will end it now.

Speaker: I don't know. i honestly do not know. you have any, like, maybe, like, ideas? ah Like, it had to be another fixer, right?

Speaker: Yes, uh, but... I don't... really know. I mean, as much as I hate to say it... Maybe you should mention that to Greylamour.

Speaker: I cannot mention that to Greylamour. She sent that mission to me. Right, so the fact that someone else was there, too... As far as Greta Moore is concerned, that fracture is gone and I was the last fixer that had fixed it. So I fixed it.

Speaker: But I didn't fix it. That's a problem, Odie. I suppose it is. That's a big problem. So there's just a rogue fixer out there? I don't know. i I don't know.

Speaker: up And he sees he's he's um uncomfortable. And ah he says, um I can go see if I live as as at their station if you want to go visit them. Believe me, this bothers me as much as it bothers you. i don't i don't like the fact that we both get problems, big problems, at the same time.

Speaker: I don't believe in coincidences. I'll not want to, well, you'd be surprised if you've lived as long as I am. If you've lived as long as I have. Well, that is the plan. He's like, oh, ah I don't know what to say to that. Has anyone explained the concept of death to you?

Speaker: is it like a CD? Life is like a CD. Well, no, the universe is a CD, so then, like, life is life has got to be, like, what?

Speaker: cassette tape? and a No! can't fucking rewind it. You've got to flip it over to get to side B. It's like you die. Level two, begin. um We're going to be very careful going forward.

Speaker: We will. But, uh... And yeah that means that you are going to need to get some upgrades. You look like shit. Well, mostly because we've been involved in a train accident, but... Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Gremly healed me, so I forgot about that. Oh, he does that. Oh, you know about this, too? Yes. I mean, i was prepared to take to you take you to the doctor, but... I mean, we have a magical doctor that lives in the bottom of the plane.

Speaker: I don't enjoy puns, Odie.

Speaker: I mean, I meant the buzzard, but... Yes. That too.

Speaker: thought you were gonna stop hiding things from me. I'm not hiding anything from you. Gremlin's very complicated. That's true. Have you seen his written... link Have you seen his writing?

Speaker: Absolutely. I've seen lots of Fenderly and dragon language as I try to decipher his language, but it's, it's, it's at this point impossible. I've, I've tried. Not impossible.

Speaker: Yes. Difficult. Yes.

Speaker: Anyway, I... Before we... Yeah. before See if if I-Lib's around. Before we go on another mission, we need to reassess our situation. Yes.

Speaker: Absolutely. make sure that our gear is upgraded. Yes. oh We will. Absolutely. And he gets up and... ah ah He says, whenever you're ready, you can join me. You're at the planar door. I'm going to see if I-lib is home.

Speaker: She just sort of nods. And he leaves. and as Before he leaves, like as he's exiting the door, Hey, Odie. Thank you. Anytime.

Speaker: And he leaves. She lays back down

Speaker: and looks up at her ceiling, which

Speaker: is painted to look like the night sky from her village in Widdershins.

Speaker: So how long is it the between Odie leaving and you getting up and heading to the pointer door? not very I mean, whatever. It's right afterwards. Okay. Yeah, and then Odie's standing next to the door. um Kind of an obvious indication that I live home. So ah he opens up the door and you step into that familiar...

Speaker: the tall cylindrical room that I-Lib stations in. And you walk up the stairs and you see I-Lib at their ah council. And next to their council, they seem to have expanded this room. And...

Speaker: ands There is like a, ah like basically this room is already have like dug into the silo, basically opened up the silent at silo. ah Like it wasn't originally there. Just how Odie modified the buzzard to his liking. um So there seems to be like another room that is opened up.

Speaker: um And it's brand new Like you see it. There's still portions of it unfinished. Um, and obviously this is work of Watcher. Like, who else would be big and tough enough to lift the things that are in here? Including in the back of the room, up against the wall, inside what looks like a glass container that is also cube-shaped, um, is that CPU.

Speaker: And... It looks a little different than last saw it. Last time you saw it was a solid black, almost glass-looking cube. um Now you see that there almost seems to be light pulsating through it, this pale blue light. um And the way it's coursing through it, it's almost like...

Speaker: dividing this cube up into smaller cubes. You see this, like, kind of racing through it. And it's hooked up to all these different monitors. Some of them are just blank screens where you see, like, code running through it. Um, it's almost like this thing is either processing something uh...

Speaker: it's It's doing some kind of, like, prep work. Like, it's not... Basically, if you're turning on a brand new computer, it's basically updating its settings and all that shit. That's what this thing seems to be doing. It's not doing any actual work, but it's it's, like, making itself at home kind of thing. Still? Yeah.

Speaker: You know, OK, like you get the impression of this room was just opened up. So, like, the computer was the last thing moved in here. Gotcha. Like the room is barely even finished. um But I live turns around in their chair and they see the both of you and they say, what has happened?

Speaker: Oh, ah you know, we had a misunderstanding with the train.

Speaker: And ah they shift their gaze up Odie and ah um he says, we had a difficult task ah from Grey L'Amour. And ah you get a little bit of an eyebrow raise out of Iolib.

Speaker: Like, this is the most alarmed you've ever seen them. And ah they say,

Speaker: um Yeah. if Mom herself. It was, and by the way, You look a lot like her. ah You don't get much of reaction.

Speaker: and I'm always about a different way. like Confused. um And they say, I hope you are recovering well.

Speaker: What is the purpose of your visit today? Man, I know that you're not trying to be antagonistic, but dude, I'm telling you. It's all the emotion they have.

Speaker: Um, so, long story short, um, we need your help. Well, I mainly need your help.

Speaker: What do you need assistance with? Well, so my antenna was hacked, which we didn't think was possible, but clearly it is. And so that's not good.

Speaker: So I need to rebuild it. and And they hold out their right hand. may i see it. And she, like, puts the, like, blueprints for it in and their hand.

Speaker: i need to see your current device. Oh,

Speaker: she looks at Odie like um consider R&D Miss Heidi I don't have it you have it he gave it back to you and then she like looks down behind her where Patches is standing is the door still open yeah I mean it's it's just Isla's place no one's gotta walk through it um Patches can you can you go get the antenna please what is that huh what is what That.

Speaker: Or they put to Patches. Okay.

Speaker: Patches is his name. And he is no more a that than you are. So let's just get that out of the way right now. My apologies.

Speaker: Um, he he's my, I, he's, listen. He's my companion. And he and assists me with stuff.

Speaker: Like, no, he's going to go get the antenna. Did you make him? Well, yes, I did Impressive. I mean, he's, he's made out of fail experiments mostly, but. Oh, you can't, I'll just use, like, you got a compliment from ILIP.

Speaker: I don't, I don't really believe in... Everything that is made is useful somewhere. It is indeed. And just because, well, i'm she catches herself, maybe now's not the time.

Speaker: Anyway, ah here are the blueprints that I have um been working on. And they unscroll that and they turn around and they kind of lay it flat across their console because it's a nice flat workspace.

Speaker: And ah they just sit there and and look at it for a bit. ah And they're they're quiet for a while. and ah And they roll that back up and hand it back to you.

Speaker: And they say, we can make this if you're willing to trade. Well, I mean, an I for, wait, no, that's not it. That's a different thing. um Sorry, I'm not really up on my euphemism. No, that's the wrong thing, too.

Speaker: Man, I'm having, did we mention the train wreck? ah Sorry. Yes, of course. That is the only equitable option here.

Speaker: And they turn around, they say, if you're willing to go on another run for me, we can establish that. Or are you willing to trade goods?

Speaker: what it What sort of goods? Information, technology. um She reaches in her pocket and she pulls out the two memory cards. Like, well, this is everything that I downloaded from that artificial world.

Speaker: I haven't even looked at it yet. This is the world Gryllamore sent you to. Correct. They reach the right hand over to you and you put the cards in. Yeah. Yeah. um Wow, your hand is even colder than Opie's.

Speaker: How is that possible? But it's weird. like They take ah that memory card and touch it to where the little nodes are. Like how you put that in for... a computer or a camera or what have you to read it. And you see, like, very blindingly fast, you see images race past I-Lib's lens like they're reading this.

Speaker: And they stop on something that makes them freeze. And they go over and they put that a card into their console.

Speaker: And you see all their screens light up with images. And It takes you a bit to realize what this is. um You see views from cameras all over the city that you're in.

Speaker: And you see yourself. You see ah you and Odie walking down the streets. You can't hear yourselves. Like, you're talking. you can see your lips moving. um But you see these camera views. And they're all from different point of views in this city. What the hell is this?

Speaker: And you see another camera. And on an adjacent building, you see a figure. And you see Desmorian.

Speaker: And they're like, he's leaning up against um a wall on top of this building. ah He's looking down at the both of you and you see him walk off, like off camera.

Speaker: And Ilo turns to you and they say, i was under the assumption this planet was empty. Yeah, that's the assumption that we went in on, but clearly not.

Speaker: All right, I guess. She, like, looks at Odie and looks like, what? And Odie shrugs. Okay, well, okay, so that that that old guy is, um... He is not pure to the old.

Speaker: he will He's from my world, and evidently he thinks that I have slighted him somehow, and so that's why he was trying to kill me.

Speaker: ah You see all the monitors turn off and you see Isla take that ah that memory card out. And they say, this is acceptable payment as this is vital information for myself and for Grey L'Amour.

Speaker: And you see Odie kind of frees up over a little bit. How are you going to, you know, present that to your mom? I do not view her as a maternal figure.

Speaker: Okay, well, that doesn't mean that she's not your mom, so... They seem to brush that off, and they say, Do you not want me to present this to Grey L'Amour?

Speaker: Well, I mean... Is this another secret? And, like, you see them look over at Odie. And Odie says, I preferably.

Speaker: For the record, I suggested that we tell her, and but Odie didn't seem to think we should. So I'm on your side on this one.

Speaker: and she gives him, like, a thumbs up. I would. Yeah, and, like, a smile, like, hey. if And Ila takes that memory card and ah tucks it in like their their breast pocket. And they say, this will stay with me until we figure out what has caused this and who this is and how they got here.

Speaker: Yeah, that's the bigger mystery because, you know, my my plane, we don't have a concept even of planar travel. So how did he get there?

Speaker: I mean, od is all freaked out because clearly there's another fixer involved. Seems obvious. Is Patches back yet? or Well, you tell me. Yeah, like, it's been a while. So, like, yeah, like, I'm assuming Patches went to your room. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: yeah So he comes hopping back. Oh, thank you. And she like packs him on the head. And she like with her a thumb and forefinger like picks up her antenna and like like it's something foul and like hands to eyelid.

Speaker: Is it contaminated? And they take that from you. um As far as I'm concerned, it is. They take that and look at it.

Speaker: And they look at it. They open up little compartments. like They open up the little screen. And they ah

Speaker: they they're analyzing this thing. You can tell that like they so almost seem more like into tech than even Odie is. Because the way they're like opening things up and processing things. You can see their lens flashing. They're scanning things.

Speaker: And ah they say...

Speaker: This is highly outdated.

Speaker: Yes, um, that's why we came to you. Because I don't know if you've ever been to Odie's place. Uh, he's got He's got a vibe?

Speaker: Numerous times. Yeah, so then you understand.

Speaker: And from the looks of it, Odie made this himself. And ah Odie nods. I always says, what was wrong with the last one? And Odie doesn't say anything, but you see him kind of like straighten up, like stiffen up.

Speaker: ah Ivy is like, eyes are wide and perked up. I'm sorry, the last one? ah And Odie's like, that doesn't belong to anyone. That's, that's, no.

Speaker: And, uh, I-Lib says, is that currently being used? Maybe it would benefit her. And, uh, Odie says. She, like, slowly, like, looks at Odie like, what?

Speaker: And Odie says, I cannot give her that one. You know why. And, uh, like, he almost seems, like, kind of, like, angry a little bit.

Speaker: And, uh, I would say, I suppose your new version will be more advanced than even that one.

Speaker: However, the last time that you came here for one of these, you commissioned me to make it. She raises her hand? Um, if I may, I have so many questions, but I'm going to prioritize them right now.

Speaker: Well, no, hold on. Yes. No. Like, she's like, Actually, I have some questions and I have some some statements. Okay. First off, wow did why did you need one of these before me? we're not talking about that one. Okay.

Speaker: Uh, that's fine. My comment is, whatever the reason that you had it, I do not want somebody's hand-me-down equipment when I have perfectly capable brains to create better stuff.

Speaker: And, uh, I love says, fair enough. I was simply curious. Well, now I am too, but judging from the look on Odie's face, it's a sore subject.

Speaker: Yeah, look at Odie. Odie's just like not having it. um And Ilob says, I will offer my services and my assistance for you to create your new device.

Speaker: Oh, you're done. Okay, it sounded like you were going to keep talking. Thank you. ah That is much appreciated. Odie says, I appreciate your help.

Speaker: Once again, Eilid. um And she's going to reach down and pick up patches? ah Is Watcher around? She is in the foundry.

Speaker: That's not a place I can go, right? It is far too hazardous for you. Okay, well, I'm going to just go down there, and she, like, points to, like, elsewhere. well, not elsewhere. Baby gestures everywhere, elsewhere. No, I'm going I'll just go and wait for Okay.

Speaker: i'll just go and wait for her Um, she like hesitates for a second and then she like walks over to Isla and like, thank you. And like very hesitantly like puts a hand on his shoulder and like awkwardly like pats it a couple of times. Like, I really do appreciate it.

Speaker: It no trouble. whatever y'all got going on, I don't need it. And she like goes down the steps to the second tier catwalk or whatever. Yeah, like there's a door that says it' it's for the like the the crystal refinery.

Speaker: um But yeah, like you it says like no public admittance past this point. Like, do you have Watcher's contact information? Or, like, what, what like, do you let her know you're here? i I mean, i would like to think that they exchanged numbers at some point. But, like, that's up to you.

Speaker: okay, I'll compensate here. Um, like, as you're walking down the stairs, um, you, uh, see Eyelib turn around and press a button on their console.

Speaker: And, uh, They say, watch her to the planar door chamber, please. Yo, a visitor. And you'll hear like, there's no intercom in here, but like obviously there's some kind of intercom wherever Watcher is. um But then you wait just for a couple minutes and then you hear big, heavy footsteps come to that door. And like, she's so tall. She's so big. She has to like duck through this hallway to get to this door. And she says, Heidi.

Speaker: Hi. ah How are you? And she like, Idy like goes up and like raises her fist up. Yeah, you you're greeted with another big iron fist. So check this out. And like, she like goes down and she picks up ah Patches and she's like, this is Patches.

Speaker: He's adorable. Where'd you get him I made him. That's even better. Let me show you what he can do.

Speaker: basic See, like, after a few minutes, Odie comes down and, ah ah like, you you and Watcher having a little moment and Watcher says, oh, hi, Mr. Odie. And Odie says, hello, Watcher.

Speaker: It's nice to see you again. How are you enjoying your new job? And ah she says, it is fantastic. I love it here. Eilith is a fantastic boss.

Speaker: Really? Pays really well. And I get to play those crystals all day. I get to work in the refinery. It's really nice and a nice break from everything else. And every once in a while, like to play chess.

Speaker: know how to play chess? Her mouth just opens a little bit. Wait a second. Are you... He likes to play a game? yeah It's a strategic game, which...

Speaker: a lot of people like to play, but yeah. And, uh, Odie says, I've never had the, guess the mind for playing that game. The patience really. Like she, looked she looks at him like, what are you even talking about? Computer brain. Like,

Speaker: Well, he hast he's more than computer. Like, he can do it. I know. i just, like, she just gives weird look. Like, that is fascinating. You know what? I think, and she kind of like, gives Odie a look. I think he's starting to break down a little bit. That li wall, that facade is starting to crumble a little bit.

Speaker: The more they surround themselves with a colorful company like us, the more it's going rub off on them. Watcher, how do you think Isla would look in a hat?

Speaker: Oh, I really don't know. What kind of hat? And she like, she like raises her arm up as if to like summon a prop. And then she's like, oh, right.

Speaker: What happened to your little thingy? Um, well, it got, uh, got hacked. Well, that's rude. Yeah, and not great. So Ileb has agreed to help me make a new one that won't.

Speaker: Oh, nice. I'm sure it's going nice and, like, super high tech. How did you convince him to help you? I just asked and then exchanged payment.

Speaker: Oh, as I was going to So guess I hired him then? A commission from the best. Uh, well, I mean, and she, like it like, kind of, like, looks at Odie like, uh.

Speaker: and they They truly are the best of this work, if you're talking about latest technology. No, no, I'm just, diving best is, he certainly has the right aesthetic. And hopefully, can help me source the materials that I'm kind of looking for.

Speaker: Well, if I lose somehow doesn't find the right materials, I can go looking for you. You do know about materials, don't you? I absolutely do. So i what I need is a material for the outer shell that is really structurally in sound, but also doesn't transfer heat or then does not conduct electricity. Hmm.

Speaker: here Nothing comes to mind right now, but I will do some research for you. I have no doubt that you'll be able to find the perfect thing. And she gets excited. She's like, you can count on me.

Speaker: And it's got to be kind of light. Oh, sure. Like, super light. to carrying that around your arm. Yeah. um I mean, I am pretty strong, which is which helps, but it it did do get a little heavy, the old one.

Speaker: Before they head back through the door, Ides stops. Oh, um one second. I'll be right back. And she runs back up to the console room where I-Leb is.

Speaker: And um I-Leb Yes. We're going to head out for now. um i mean, I got to get materials and stuff.

Speaker: um This is for you. And she reaches into one of her pockets and she pulls out a another memory. It's a memory chip, but it's like from somewhere else. It looks different from the other ones. OK.

Speaker: And she says. This is for you. When you're ready, call me. And he reaches out his hand and takes that from you. um and They say, what is this?

Speaker: You'll see. And then she like runs back down the stairs. Okay. You're going to tell me what's on that? Or what is I love going to like look at it? oh Yeah. Yeah. I would take that just like the last one. And as you're leaving, ah they pinch that between your fingers and they review what's on it.

Speaker: What iLab sees is data and research and schematics for a portable fracture fire crystal power cell. Okay. Okay.

Speaker: But there's a lot of theoretical stuff in there, and it's missing a lot of work. But, like, oh you know, there's a lot there to begin with.

Speaker: And there's a smiley face on on the last and the last page. And it says underneath it says, i have no doubt that you and I can make this work.

Speaker: And um you see iLib review this, and it says... Absurdity.
