Speaker: Welcome back to Somewhere else Elsewhere, ah world building and actual play podcast. I don't know who this person is. Yeah, okay. Hold on.

Speaker: Today, we're world building again. So, Janelle, what is going to be our prompt today? Our prompt comes courtesy of Sam, my lovely sister. Hello, Sam. We love you. Love you, Sammy.

Speaker: You better be fucking listening to this. um And the prompt she sent us is a futuristic space world, but not what you think it is.

Speaker: oh And that's it. But not what you think it is. So we have to defy expectations. No, subvert expectations. Thank you.

Speaker: To myself for knowing how to use words correctly. We're talking about future space futuristic space worlds that are not what you think it is. God damn it.

Speaker: All I'm thinking right now is fucking Knights of Guinevere. well Because yeah that's immediately when it comes to mind. It's a fucking theme park. Okay, well, but we can' we can't do that. No, we can't do that. By the way, if you haven't seen Knights of Guinevere, please do. Please do that. It is amazing.

Speaker: Please watch And if you're listening to this, you know, in the year 2037... twenty thirty seven There might be more episodes of Cunderville by the time we... Hopefully you still can. Yeah.

Speaker: The last episode of ah We Fix Games that came out, ah we kind of got freaked ourselves out because I had so i had come to i have had the realization that someone right now is listening to this in the future.

Speaker: And that kind of fucked us up. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. um Sorry, I'm rolling new dice that we got today. Yes, we we got new dice today.

Speaker: They're mint green, like Odie. And I got ID dice. They're like like the sun. They're gold and sparkly. Well, not the gold. They're kind of like yellow and sparkly.

Speaker: It's not what I wanted. But you know what? She test rolled them. And you know what happened? They both wrote in rolled six. So i how can you not say no? i got har out How can you say no? Yeah. How you say no? Those dice are like, please take us home. even if Even if they're not the ID dice, they need to come home with me.

Speaker: Anyway. What are we doing? Yes. We are will world building. That's part of our ah our job here as world builders. So we've got to build a future...

Speaker: futuristic space world that's not what you think it is okay so i guess we should try i guess we should tackle the not what you think it is part first yeah so like so that's why a theme park came to mind so it's like it's not truly a futuristic space world it's like it's like oh this is the park of tomorrow or whatever ah the world of tomorrow like it's a futuristic space world but like it's like someone's interpretation of the future, but it's not really... Yeah. You know, it's set up as like a theme park or amusement park or... um I'm trying to think of another example of like someone would... Like a tourist attraction, maybe. Yeah, but... But here's the thing. It says a futuristic space world. I'm thinking it's an entire ass planet.

Speaker: Right. but the only The only thing that came to my mind, and I'm not suggesting that we we keep it, is...

Speaker: It's all like super future tech, but everybody evolved into jellyfish. Whoa. Yeah. um Why? How?

Speaker: I don't know, Janiel. It was just the thought that popped in my head. you have like... Maybe they were always jellyfish. But they built a future space world for what reason?

Speaker: No, they built world, and then it's in the future, and then they went to space. Okay. i'm not all Again, I'm not suggesting we go with this, but that was just the first thing that came to my head.

Speaker: o What if... I do kind of like it. Yeah. So, what if it's like a future space world, like it's a whole-ass planet, but for whatever reason, it is completely empty.

Speaker: There's no one living here.

Speaker: So it's a future as a space world that was built maybe to sustain a society at some point, or maybe it was a tourist attraction or something, but no one lives here for some reason. maybe like Maybe something happened that it's deemed dangerous, or maybe something happened to the people used to live here.

Speaker: So, like, people on the outside, like, so if this is a taking place in a place where people can just freely travel between planets, um like, imagine, like, a Star Trek scenario. It's like oh, okay, we can go to different planets in our our big-ass spaceship ah spaceship. But, like, this is one world that, like, looks futuristic and science-y and stuff, but for some reason, like, either it's people just, like, up and disappeared one day, or it was, like, maybe it's an artificial planet that was it built to be I don't know, tourist trap, fucking giant mini-golf planet, I don't know, like, some some kind of... There's something weird about it.

Speaker: So, like, if we're establishing a whole-ass planet, obviously to someone outside of the planet, it's gonna whoa, this is really futuristic and spacey. So I imagine, like, this is taking place in a... in a, uh... setting where there are spaceships and people are traveling between worlds. And, like, they travel to this one world and say, whoa, that looks really cool.

Speaker: But there's something wrong with it or something off about it. Hmm. I just throw a bunch of shit at you. Yeah. I don't dislike it. I feel like it might be challenging.

Speaker: The other thing I was thinking of just now while I was listening to you, because I can do things like I can listen and think the same thing at the same time. we are We are. Our brains are extraordinarily complicated.

Speaker: They're wonderful. I don't know about wonderful. it's um So, okay. Futuristic space. Okay, so... But not what you think it is. So, everyone has an idea of what a futuristic space looks like.

Speaker: What if it just didn't look like that? What if it was like people rode bicycles between planets or some weird shit like that?

Speaker: Like, for all the tech was like... bicycle powered spaceships or just like no i'm just bicycles or some i like I don't like they just put on like spacesuits and stuff and they like have these bicycles that like somehow drift through space yeah i i just i don't know that was that was the other thought I had so this is weird because this is the first time where we're like stumped well that's stumped just like we have different ways we could go about it yeah that's we're kind of like throwing stuff at each other and see what sticks

Speaker: do like the jellyfish thing.

Speaker: But I am intrigued about the empty planet.

Speaker: So, like... Alright, you know what? Tell me more about this empty planet. So, like, okay, so definitely think this takes place in a setting where it's... People are traveling via spaceships to different planets. Because how would you know? This a futuristic space world, but not what you think it is.

Speaker: um So, like...

Speaker: There has to be like people on the outside. youa Their first image of this planet is like, wow, this looks really futuristic. And then they get there and it's like, whoa, this is not this is weird. There's something weird here. um So I'm thinking that it's maybe an artificial planet. Like a fucking Death Star kind of situation. But like

Speaker: it's futuristic in the sense where like it's definitely high tech. But maybe it was made to do something, and then by the time it was made, it was obsoleted.

Speaker: For some whatever reason. They found a better solution to whatever problem were trying to fix with this thing. So whether it be a weapon, or ah an intelligent AI that they're trying to make, or maybe it was a giant like like alternative planet.

Speaker: Maybe... They were trying to build this planet as an alternative um solution. like Maybe like the people who ever built this planet were living off of a planet much like our own, but for whatever reason, that planet went away, or they this the species died off before before they completed the project, so now there's this thing drifting through space that's like completely empty.

Speaker: Um... But is it like in like run down in shambles or is it just unused? Like good brand new and unused? It's like a brand new unused car that's just kind of there.

Speaker: Okay. So maybe this thing was being produced for some purpose, but maybe it got abandoned because the technology no longer like is needed, or the species or race, what have you, that was building this thing, something happened to them, and this thing is just abandoned and drifting through space.

Speaker: There's nothing on it. No life. No life. It's completely empty. Is there AI? No. that's That's the thing. Like, is there still machines on here that are still, like, sustain this place? Or is it all one big machine?

Speaker: Okay. I'm going to make a proposition. Okay. What if we go with this, but the people who built it were jellyfishes?

Speaker: Jellyfish people? Yeah. Okay. So... So, like... There'll be, like, computers, and it'll be designed for jellyfish people. Yeah. So, imagine there's, like, controls, but, like, there's something that, like, the keyboard is weird. It's, like, it's basically in a hemisphere because it's made for, like, someone to be in there and have a bunch of tentacles touch these controls or whatever. um But, yeah, for, like, a normal, like, humanoid being, you'd be like, what the fuck is this?

Speaker: Okay. So, like, is it is it just, like, a ship or, like, is it a whole world? Well, the prompt is a futuristic space world. Okay, so this is a heat like It could be a maybe a world, but maybe maybe the world itself is just one big-ass ship.

Speaker: Or one big, like, man-made or jellyfish-made thing. Okay. So why did jellyfish make this?

Speaker: Well, you as you had suggested, that there was a problem that needed solving, or...

Speaker: So my question is, are these, is this jellyfish race like a creature that swims through space or they have a home? Did they make this their home or do they leave another place and make like make an artificial home for themselves?

Speaker: And where are they now? don't know. I don't know. Like, I don't want to, i I don't want to go like, oh, they died out. Something terrible happened and they're all dead now.

Speaker: That's been done. before. Most planets. Yeah. And like, and this whatever killed him is still there, whatever, blah, blah. No, I don't want to do that.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Okay, what if, bernie what if the jellyfish people weren't making this planet for themselves? Okay.

Speaker: What if they were making it for a different race altogether? Okay. And it basically is like one big terrarium.

Speaker: Okay. So it was like a giant glass ball? no, no. no It's still a planet machine thing. But it's for beings that they're going to then observe as like

Speaker: pets oh so they so they made a world that can sustain a species that they're just basically using as a giant zoo that was the intent i yeah okay so okay so like did they did they make this planet and then they just wanted to see what light what what kind of life evolves here or did they did they take species from other planets and put them here i Well, neither because nothing happened, right? So I'm and thinking maybe they built this planet for a race of people and then something happened where they didn't need to use it or couldn't use it.

Speaker: So like Either they... Okay, so here's here's here's the possibilities. One, they are going to enslave a race because they want their planet, and so they're just going to move them.

Speaker: Yeah. So maybe like, okay, we want this planet, but we're not going to like invade and kill people and take it over. we're just We're just going to move you elsewhere. Like, the jellyfish aren't evil,

Speaker: They just, it's like if, basically it's like if we come across, you know, some sort of animal in our backyard. It's like, oh, you shouldn't be here, my friend. Let me let me just take you somewhere else where you live better. Even though that and that little critter could have been living there for... basically if you see like a frog or something, it's like, oh, I want a pet frog. And you put it in a terrarium and feed it, take care of it.

Speaker: You know, I can maybe live longer under your care if you take good care of it. But, like, it could do just fine where it was, but you just took that ammo in. and Or, okay, no, it's more like, okay, we need to use this space for something else.

Speaker: Okay, so, like, say if you're building a shed in your backyard and there's a you dug up a... he dug up a ah Oh, a skink nest. And you're like, okay, well, I'm going to these s skinks and these eggs and put them in a nice terrarium and raise up all the little baby s skinks.

Speaker: Or just take them to, like, the metro park or something. Oh, so just simple real shit then. Well, I'm leading away from the terrarium already. Okay. Because I don't want them to be, like, evil weirdos.

Speaker: Or I'll put you in a cage for the rest of your life. No, it's just like, okay. Despite taking very... like Like, what if, like... What if in that scenario you take the best the the the best damn care of these skinks? Like, these are, like... They live, like, double their life expectancy because you took such good care of them.

Speaker: So, like... Yeah, you put it a cage for the rest of its life, but, like... It's living pretty good here. So, like, the they they the jellyfish wouldn't say, okay, I'm putting you on this planet to take care of you because you're going to live a very good life here, but you're going to be stuck here for the rest of your existence. Or is it simple like, oh, I'm going to, since we're building a house here, I'm going to relocate you to the the park down the street. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Oh, okay. So, like, the...

Speaker: Maybe they wanted to build an amusement park on this planet. Since you're we're stuck in that kind of thought ah zone. That was the first thing that came to mind. Because, like... Sam gave me that fucking prompting before we saw trailer for that shit.

Speaker: Yeah. So, okay. The jellyfish found a planet. And you're like... this is great for our purposes.

Speaker: Oh, there except there's all these beings there. Like, well, okay, well, let's just...

Speaker: Let's just... And there probably was like, okay, we'll just kill them. And there was like like a debate, like, well, why would we not? would we kill them? We're not the evil aliens. Like, don't do this. Yeah. So, what were the beings that they're relocating? Are they like an intelligent species like humans?

Speaker: Or are they like animals? I think they would be like an intelligent ah ah intelligent species, right? Because it it's futuristic, right? so Yeah. So full of like touchpads and holograms and, you know, all the hover cars and shit like that.

Speaker: So, okay. So like they basically came across this world of an intelligent, are they humans like it's just a very intelligent race? i aers They had their own society and everything.

Speaker: I mean, they could be humanoid. Okay. But I don't want to make them human. Yeah, right. We'll make them like different. like Maybe they've got forearms or they've got...

Speaker: Maybe they're like... They've got horns or something. so like What kind of society did they live in before they were moved? Was it kind of like a modern or was it like... See, that's that's the thing.

Speaker: I think it was a more primitive... Okay. But the jellyfish were like, no, we're going to build them this nice place and they'll be there and they'll be happy there.

Speaker: Okay. Not really knowing that you take primitive culture and throw them into a sci-fi setting that it's not going to work out well. Yeah. So, like... Not everyone is ID. Essentially, they took, like... Are you talking about, like, as, like as um... Simple as, like like, caveman early? Or, like... No.

Speaker: Like, just, like...

Speaker: Tribal. Okay. So, like...

Speaker: Iron Age? question mark kind of like I'm trying to like to give a like ah a good visual to our listeners. Before the concept any concept of of science. Okay, so still like that primitive. Yeah. Okay, so they're living off the land, hunting animals, blah, blah, blah. Okay, so you have this...

Speaker: like developing intelligent race of humanoids on this planet and suddenly these jellyfish come down they're like, hey, sorry, but when you got to move. Otherwise you're all going to die. we're just going to pick you up and put you on this world we made. That's just down the street essentially.

Speaker: So how would that go down? Like these primitive... peoples that are just living in their simple houses off the land suddenly see these jellyfish creatures come from the sky. Well, here's the thing, though.

Speaker: We can build up this world that these people are on, but that's not what we're talking about. No, I'm saying like, well, I'm i'm saying like, How did it all go down? These people were... Oh, I'm not... So, well, maybe it didn't, right?

Speaker: Maybe it didn't work the way that Jellyfish thought it would, and... I'm almost thinking, like, how would you relocate a fucking rhino? You dart the damn thing. You put it to sleep.

Speaker: So, like... You knock out these humanoids, you scoop them up, and you put them down, and they wake up in this weird, strange world. It's like they went to sleep, they wake up, and it's like, oh shit, yeah everything's different. Something like that. Yeah.

Speaker: so like maybe But that didn't happen, right? so like I mean, it didn't happen. Because of the the world's been empty. Yeah. Oh, that's right. So like, yeah, so like they built this thing up and they just it just didn't serve its purpose. Yeah. So there's no one living there. Yeah, there's no one. Okay.

Speaker: So what, went so why, why didn't the, like, so they, like, okay, so like, so the jellyfish were going to move this whole planet of beings. There's that, like, so like basically knock everyone out, scoop them up and put them in this new artificial world they made for them.

Speaker: So why didn't they? did like So, like, whatever their original intention was for this world of intelligent beings on it, um maybe that project fell through and they just ended up not doing it.

Speaker: But they already invested all this time and money or whatever materials into making this whole ass planet. Right. Maybe they lost funding. Maybe... Oh, man. That sucks. Maybe there was a war that started.

Speaker: Jellyfish war. or maybe I mean, it could... Or, and this might make it a little bit more interesting than just an empty world,

Speaker: they that was their plan. But they took like a sample size and relocated them to see how well that was going to work.

Speaker: And then they so found out, oh, yeah, that's not going to work. They don't thrive here. Yeah. So the sample size die or they just each think they like kill each other.

Speaker: yeah i that i just think that like the jellyfish were observing. I'm like, oh, yeah, they're not doing well here. ok we're going to put them back. OK. Right. Because they're like, again, they're not evil. No, johnny you can't keep that wild animal in here. You have to put them back outside.

Speaker: OK. Yeah, they're not evil assholes. Yeah, at the same time, their intention was to do something with this planet. It's like, oh, there's a bunch of little critters living here. placebo we got to kill them all. And then some of the jellyfish, no, don't do that. We built a cage for them.

Speaker: I don't think they were planning just the the dominant species. like and I think they would need all the birds and shit. like Maybe they're building... Based on what the intelligent species is getting in the way. Because they're intelligent and they'd be like, hey, we don't want you doing this here. Okay.

Speaker: Okay. Like, maybe they're they're building a um ah jellyfish, like, meditation retreat planet or something. This is a future location of of jelly spas.

Speaker: Oh, shit, there's people living here. Yeah, that's why they left the animals, because it's like, okay, animals are just tranquil. You're out in nature and blah, blah, blah. But not these fucking, like, monkey people. or these people doing here?

Speaker: Okay. ok or We go back a little bit. And maybe they weren't primitive people.

Speaker: Okay. Maybe it was a more modern society. And they wanted to build their spa world. And these beings were fucking it up with their industrialization and pollution and shit.

Speaker: Oh. Okay. And so they built this world that, like, they wouldn't have to do all that stuff.

Speaker: just Okay, just live here. You don't have to worry about destroying the planet or anything. Everything you need is here. We're going to build this spa planet because we love spas.

Speaker: We actually give a shit about nature instead of putting people in the water. It's about a reversal of the roles here. now you're making the host people the baddies here and the jellyfish are the benevolent like, hey. Yeah.

Speaker: I mean, we we were at a

Speaker: conservation site this morning. So like, yeah, we're kind of on the kind conservation page. yeah Yeah. Maybe, maybe, maybe. And it could be as simple as that, too. It could be like, oh for the good of this planet, we, you guys need to knock it off. We're going to put you on an artificial planet that you can't possibly fuck up because it's artificial in the first place.

Speaker: But I actually like this spa re retreat planet a thing better. so ok so So what happened, right? Yeah. So the sum up, we have this jellyfish race that came to this world of modern people, like humanoids,

Speaker: They're like us. They're fucking their world up. They're polluting it and shit. But these jellyfish canes are like, oh well, we wanted to, you know, build a resort here or something. But, know, all these people are getting in the way. They're kind of making, know, the water tainted. We can't use this polluted water for our resort. So we're just going to scoop up all these little annoying people and put them somewhere else because we don't want to kill them all. We're not evil. Right.

Speaker: But they can't sit here and pollute water. so we're going And air and all that stuff. Yeah, so we're going to move them to an artificial plant that we built for them. So they can potentially fuck that up, but like it's it's a it's a world that can kind of like... It's a self-sustaining... It's a self-sustaining artificial world that can clean its own air and clean its own water.

Speaker: So, like, they can't possibly fuck it up. So, like, cool. They can have a cool new plant planet to live on that's all futuristic and shit. And we can have our water, our fresh clean water and fresh air that we can build our spa resort on.

Speaker: So, what happened that they just, that project fell through? Or just, or they just get enough pushback from the native species that's like, okay, maybe we shouldn't interfere.

Speaker: No, that's spa, though. That spa is just more important. Yeah. What if, okay,

Speaker: maybe it wasn't an issue of getting them there. Okay, it could be. Maybe they didn't survive the trip. Somehow. What, the people?

Speaker: Yeah. Maybe they were just not suited to be in the vacuum of space or something. Well, wouldn't think that's normal creatures, but like somehow these jellyfish survived, maybe they had some way to transport them.

Speaker: no no I wasn't that's not what I meant I meant i've in ships or whatever okay but maybe like their particular physiology like b even being in a weightless environment messes them up somehow well I mean or the lack of gravity messes them up well I mean surely the new planet has its own gravity Right, but you have to get them there. Right.

Speaker: Oh, so just even like transporting them. Yeah, and they're jellyfishes, so they don't need to like fucking... They're fancy space jellyfish, don't have to be concerned with that. Yeah, ok so... And...

Speaker: I mean, being in zero gravity for a prolonged period of time does have a negative effect on humans. And that's why you have up in the ISS, the International Space Station, for those who don't know what that is. You have the astronauts up there. They have exercise equipment that they use daily to keep their muscles and bones in check because being in zero gravity really fucks your body up.

Speaker: So, yeah So imagine like these jellyfish are like, oh yeah, like, sure, you can just scoot them on over. But then like being in space for a long time, it definitely had negative effect on these these creatures.

Speaker: Yeah. And maybe they they had to build this world and it wasn't that close. Maybe it wasn't that close on purpose so that sort willing they didn't like try and come back.

Speaker: So, like, is this planet in the same solar system as this? um Maybe. Maybe. but like, a good deal away. Not, like, a terribly long way. Like, maybe a week?

Speaker: A week? I don't know. i I mean, a week is, like, you get these jellyfish that, like, can probably teleport or, like, travel at light speed. It's like, okay, a light week is a significant. No, okay. So, I don't know.

Speaker: maybe Maybe it's not in the same solar system. Maybe that's the thing. Oh, man. So they're, like, really far away from home. Mm-hmm. Okay.

Speaker: just Maybe because they had to find the right conditions... Right. So, like, see, like, our own planet, it's in the Goldilocks zone away from our sun. If it was a little too too close or little too more far ah too much further away, would either be boiled or frozen to death.

Speaker: um So, like, and we have our atmosphere to help, you know, insulate us and everything from radiation and the heat from the sun and the coldness of no sun ah when it turns nighttime. uh...

Speaker: but ah Yeah, so they basically had to research, saying, okay, well, this planet is located in this solar system's scoliloxone to support life.

Speaker: We have to find a solar system that either has a planet we can dump these people on or a space available that we can build an artificial planet that we can dump these people on. Right. Okay.

Speaker: And they did didn't make the trip. Is it all died? No. not like the first Like the first wave maybe did. okay. So they're like, oh.

Speaker: That's not good. Or maybe they turned around when they saw that like it wasn't. You're not doing well. Yeah. yeah That's just just one option. The other option is maybe in the construction of this thing, there was some hiccup they encountered and they couldn't figure out a solution for it.

Speaker: Oh, shit. So it just couldn't be used. Damn, all that, like, effort and materials and a giant dead planet.

Speaker: Giant dead artificial planet.

Speaker: Huh. That's the other option I was thinking of. Okay. So, okay. After that project fails, these jellyfish just moved on and just, like, didn't bother with these people?

Speaker: Yeah. Okay, so like either there was something wrong with the design that they just couldn't figure out. like It worked on paper, but like like a lot of things when you go to build it, like, okay, well, this isn't Didn't quite work. Yeah, they didn't take something into account. So maybe it's still work in progress. like Maybe this project hasn't been abandoned, but like it's on stand it's it's on standby.

Speaker: So this artificial plant is like maybe 80% complete. But it's just sitting out there adrift because it's a whole-ass planet and needs somewhere to be. so Yeah.

Speaker: Or the other, option and then there's a third option. Okay. Is that after, you know, they started building it and whether they made a deal with the people, which who knows, or they just decide, okay, we're just going to like, trank them all.

Speaker: um So while it was being made, they were doing studies on the the planet and to figure out, okay, what do we got to do to, like, turn us around? Yeah.

Speaker: um And...

Speaker: Maybe the Spa Planet project got cut. ah Right? Maybe it was just too expensive. Okay, so I like the the Spa Planet idea, but I'm also thinking, like...

Speaker: maybe where these jellyfish came from they do need some amount of water to sustain themselves, even though they're space jellyfish, they can kind go wherever. But, like, we call it a spa, but, like,

Speaker: It was a source of water. And water is such a rare commodity anywhere. Amongst planets. Like you have frozen liquid on other planets. But it's not water. It's not H2O.

Speaker: It could be like fucking frozen like frozen nitrogen or some shit. If it's so cold. um But. So like these jellyfish have found a planet with water. Maybe they saw it from a distance. Like oh we detect water on this planet. We need that water.

Speaker: To like. have children or something. Maybe it's how they reproduce or something. um So, like, they went to this planet to use this water for something, and you're like, oh, there's another species here. And the water's kind of dirty. we can't really use it, but if we move these people out of here where they can we can clean the water up, maybe we can use this water and then, like,

Speaker: give them back their plan once we're done with it kind of thing. So maybe it's not just a spa thing. It was like a resource they needed. That's why it was so important. That's why there was so big big of a funding for it. Because why else would they... I mean, a spa is fun.

Speaker: i like that a lot. But like, at the same time, like it's it's a spa, but it's also like a rejuvenation. Like, they they need that spa treatment. It's not just leisure.

Speaker: but Okay, I mean, and don't dislike that. We can go with the spa idea if you want, but i was just thinking, like, especially for the species that are on the planet, right? It's like, okay, you need our water for a fucking spa? What the hell? Get out of here.

Speaker: But if they, like, say, hey, like, our species needs this water to survive or reproduce or something. i mean, they're not evil assholes, but I wasn't going to make them completely benevolent either. Okay. Right?

Speaker: Right. They want to build a spa.

Speaker: And maybe they then so they started. Right. They started cleaning up the water. They started building this place to put all the people.

Speaker: Maybe there was some sort of like ownership dispute. i would say so. No, no, no. Between some other group who claimed that they already own this planet.

Speaker: Oh. Or, yeah yeah, so there's some, like, it's just held up in litigation. It's the fucking squid people. Yeah.

Speaker: Maybe. to puss people. Maybe. Or, you know, it could be anybody. And so it's in litigation now. And so the project is on, like, hiatus. an an Indefinite hiatus.

Speaker: Until the the litigation thing. Okay.

Speaker: I don't know. There's a lot of ideas here. yeah Yeah. maybe the Maybe a fun part would be we don't know which one it was. Okay.

Speaker: Fucking squids want to build a water park. this The the ah the ah jellyfish want to build a spa. The fucking salamanders just wanted to kick it. like It's like, okay, I like the spa idea and I like the water park idea. What do you you guys want to do? well It's like, there's a third peep race showing up. What the fuck is this? i what if And there's the lizards who wanted to turn it into a big desert. What if the the resident people are like an aquatic like amphibian peoples?

Speaker: that need the water too. Then why they but would they be polluting it? i guess, yeah. I forgot about that part. You forgot about the part where they're fucking the planet up?

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Yeah, maybe maybe it's a mystery.

Speaker: Or maybe we figured that out in the action plan. Yeah. So imagine like if If one were to go to this artificial world, would they see, like, signs up, say, like, hey, want to enter this construction area? Or this is this for the such and such planet conservation ah efforts?

Speaker: maybe Maybe there wouldn't be any signs because they didn't think that this was going to happen. And they had to, like... But yeah, but in ah in ah in a world or in a setting where you have people traveling via spaceships or like different races that can kind swim through space, they don't want somebody to come here and say, hey, yeah, I claim this planet that's weird and artificial for my own because there was nobody here. So I'm just going to live here now.

Speaker: And after the salamanders come in. yeah Maybe. maybe Spacemanders. So, okay. So this empty world, what does it look like?

Speaker: Okay, so if it was originally built to sustain a species, but also kind of, like, self-contain itself, um like, self-contain and self-clean its water and air and everything, um I'm thinking it is almost like a big...

Speaker: water park slash air filtration thing. Because in water parks, especially in water parks, they have their own like filtration stuff that like it takes in all that water and cleans it, puts it back out they like to keep this place running. um And you can have giant air purifiers that purify this place. So imagine like this world, maybe it is a big glass dome um kind of thing.

Speaker: Because it has to contain, it has to like have its own atmosphere somehow.

Speaker: And has to take in that air and recycle it to clean it.

Speaker: Maybe it's not not so much like it's it's like a world, but instead of... um

Speaker: Instead of like an atmosphere where it just ends at a certain point, like on our planet, it has a glass dome to contain itself. Unless it's so big, it kind of contains its own atmosphere, like how well like how planets normally would.

Speaker: Because that's why we have an atmosphere, is that we have a rocky core that just attracted gases to it, and that's that's how you get an atmosphere. So maybe this planet is just so big that it has its own gravity, obviously, but it it has its own sustained yeah atmosphere.

Speaker: So that means it has its own sustained core and its own sustained magnetic field, but maybe it's all artificially driven. It's driven by instead of naturally.

Speaker: it's driven by some kind of machinery. But on a monumental scale. Okay. Like, with our current technology, we couldn't comprehend something like that. But for space jellyfish, this is just building a cart. Well, okay. So, but here's the thing. Like, if they could do all that, why would they need the planet in the first place?

Speaker: If they could just make their own planet? I mean, true.

Speaker: Maybe, like, this particular planet, they can't, like... Maybe they can't generate water for whatever reason, so they need the water on this planet, and then whatever water they give to this like race, maybe it's just like... It's still water, but don't know.

Speaker: Maybe they somehow share it like off that... Like, they give them half the water or something? Or... Well, that doesn't answer that question. Answer different question. Yeah.

Speaker: So I'm my i'm thinking. um I was just thinking of like maybe maybe the project took so long that the star died.

Speaker: fuck. And that didn't go supernova and explode. Just is burnt out? Yeah. That's not usually how suns die. I know! Some really fucked up shit happens when stars die, depending big it is. I know, but let let's say it just went dark. Like, it just stopped.

Speaker: Weird. Okay.

Speaker: And they're like, okay, that's kind of fucked up. What if the star was artificially made by some other and just pulled the switch on it. Yeah, it's like, oh, this is taking up too Why is my fucking energy bill so damn, oh, yeah, i forgot I left this running. Oops. Goink.

Speaker: I mean, imagine what would happen if you have this, like, big ball that is no longer being pulled around the star anymore, and it's just, like, just there, just Well, it was still... So... Things don't orbit the sun because the sun's hot.

Speaker: No, it's it it's because of the gravity of the sun. Yeah. But it would just be there. be cold. It would no longer have heat or anything. Okay. But it would still orbit this dead star.

Speaker: what So is the star still there as a dead, solid thing? Or is it just completely gone? Maybe it's just gone. What the fuck? That's a whole new mystery. yeah So when stars die, they still have a like a a point.

Speaker: they In our universe, yes. But in this plane, maybe not. finishish Maybe they just they just literally just burn out like anything else. And just when it's done, they just kind of like crumble away.

Speaker: God, it's fucked up. So yeah, you would have like these things just... Or they gradually shrink as they're consuming whatever material they they they are made of. And eventually they're going to run out of material. themselves And it's just...

Speaker: weird. I don't know. but There's a lot of ways, lot of things, and I'm having i'm struggling a little bit, keeping myself focused. um There's just there's so many things that it could be.

Speaker: Interesting. I kind of dig that, but I'm trying to, like from a physics standpoint, try to explain that. But like i guess I guess not everything needs to be explained. I think we covered in the very first world-building episodes, we are not physicists.

Speaker: We are not mathematicians. We are not scientists. We are not experts on anything. We just know how to build worlds and have fun. So like if you want to critique the physics of the fucked-up worlds we make or the fucked-up universes we make, please go ahead and do that.

Speaker: But don't complain to us saying, oh, that's not how physics works. It's like, well, it's how physics works in this plane. We had this whole thing where we have all these planes and physics are different in each one. and this universe, stars just are fucking burning themselves out.

Speaker: And they just turn nothing. so like That happens. This is a plane where stars just burn out and turn to nothing. And listeners, that wasn't for you. Janiel said all that for herself.

Speaker: I'm saying that for all the people like myself who would say, oh, that's not how that works. Shut up. I know that's not how it works. We're having fun here. okay um'm I'm glad. I'm happy that you i'm sorry that you're able to like recognize and be like, okay, you know what?

Speaker: I can set that aside. It's called suspension of belief. What Suspension of belief or something? Suspension of disbelief. Suspension of disbelief. right youre You're suspending your disbelief. Yeah. Suspension disbelief.

Speaker: There you go. That's not how stars work, but you know what? it That's how they work in this setting. Whatever plane this is, what? I just thought that. Okay, we're just going to have it be that way.

Speaker: And then in the actual play, ID asks Odie, like, well, that's not how stars work. how they work here. ah and and like, make Odie explain how, why they, yeah, never mind. Odie's not a physicist either. He's like, oh, yeah, this is how the physics works in this plane. i know i He's been in the planes where gravity doesn't exist.

Speaker: That is fucked up. I can't even fathom what it'd be like to not have gravity. You wouldn't have planets.

Speaker: What if it's a magic thing? It could be a magic thing. We're going to have we're goingnna have prompts that lead to some really weird things. Like, oh, in normal physics, that would not work. Well, that normal physics that you're used to doesn't exist here.

Speaker: In this universe, fire is cold and turns pink and gravity doesn't exist. And people thrive on carbon dioxide instead of oxygen.

Speaker: i just. I am listening to you, I promise. I just had a thought. hmm. So I was thinking about like magic and whatnot and the maybe the jellyfish or magic or something. And then I thought, what if something happened not to the people that were supposed to live on this planet, but to the jellyfish who were building it?

Speaker: Oh, okay. So what if, what if in the construction of it, Something... The star went out. And... That fucked up... That that lack of... Energy?

Speaker: um Caused a massive failure in what in some of the systems. And... The jellyfish people got sort of sucked up into the computer.

Speaker: oh And so that's where, like, they got in. they got trapped with their own technology. Sort of. And they got integrated into with the ai Interesting. Okay.

Speaker: So, because they're jellyfish, like, they're sort of semi-corporeal anyway. So, and then, like, i'm not I'm not suggesting that, you know, they still live in the computer now, but... That's why the project was... Yeah, mean that's why the project was stopped. Oh, interesting. Okay. because Because without that star, something with the magic, you know, the magic fields or whatever is messing up the technology.

Speaker: Because the technology is sort of magic-based. Interesting. but it looks like But it looks like super like sci-fi, but it's still powered by magic. It's magic tech.

Speaker: Basically, the sun burning out fucked with the physics or magic slash this physics slash magic of this world. And while these jellyfish were working on it and building it...

Speaker: um this as this planet needed a power source of some kind to keep it functioning. And, like, when the sun went out, but it was kind of like, solar-powered magically.

Speaker: It absorbed the jellyfish as a power source. Ooh, I like that. Because, like, why would they get sucked into the thing?

Speaker: was going to sort of hand-wave that away, but... But because the jellyfish are creatures, they're a source of magic like the sun would be. They're still trapped in there. They haven't been fully absorbed by the technology.

Speaker: Maybe. Maybe. I'm on the fence about it. I'm ah on the fence about whether they should be still trapped in there. But maybe these jellyfish are like maybe they're made of magic.

Speaker: e And so, yeah, when the sun went out, The systems that they built were like, oh, we need energy. We feed off of magic. Here it is. And sucked up the jellyfish. It absorbed them. And they just got turned into pure energy. So that planet is extremely dangerous to the jellyfish people. So that's why they're like, whoa, we can't go there anymore. And they just left it. Yeah. There we go. There we go.

Speaker: We did it. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, so that's why this world is empty. And, like, it would be completely harmless to somebody else who were to explore that, even though would fucking cold. There's no sun.

Speaker: But it wouldn't suck you up. Mm-hmm. Interesting. Well, maybe... Okay. Maybe it wasn't a heat-producing sun.

Speaker: Maybe it was literally just a light-producing sun. And so... and ah Nothing. Hold on. I know what you're go about to say. But we did. Finish the thought. yeah um And so there's no one ever is going to come here now.

Speaker: So. No one's going to like come across this and be like, oh, what's this thing? Because they're not going to go into this dark part of space. Mm hmm.

Speaker: We discussed how the planet, the spa planet was in a different solar system or whatever. Yeah. So it's not the same solar system of these people. Yeah. So they didn't get nuked, but. No.

Speaker: Yeah. So like, whatever planet they're on, we're not messing with that planet. That's maybe a different story. But this dead world that was being made to sustain this place, that's what we're focusing on. Because maybe they were trying to hide this.

Speaker: Or doing illegal activities. Maybe they were, maybe relocating in a sentient species is kind of looked down upon, but they really wanted this spa planet.

Speaker: So they had to put them somewhere where, you know, no one's going come across them.

Speaker: Interesting. Hmm. Or something like that. And yeah, maybe like,

Speaker: it should that that The star should have you know sustained itself. Maybe it's the building of the planet that like fucked up the magic feel of the sun.

Speaker: Yeah, something was going on. And accelerated its decay or something. Yeah. Maybe it was a weird kind of magic that they didn't realize was there. All in all was a lesson that in don't fuck with nature.

Speaker: Okay, so now, after an hour, we've we've figured out how this planet got there. Yeah. i think we're fully discussing what looks... Yeah, now we've got to go back to actually... Okay, what does look like? I was picturing, like, a full-on, full, like...

Speaker: cyber city planet but you were thinking something else. Well thinking more of like okay it was built to sustain a species so it's more like a giant fucking zoo. But to get these people happy if there were cities on that planet there's cities here. There's places for them to live.

Speaker: Yeah sure. they have to do that But it's just like systems in place to recycle the air and clean it and recycle the water and clean it. But

Speaker: it just obviously shit. And, you know, and... produce heat since that star is just light. Like, the it it was using them the magic to...

Speaker: sort like you know um converting it into converting that's the word i like energy. yeah yeahington to to heat energy yeah so I imagine this place is built to clean air and clean water and sustain everything.

Speaker: It might have an atmosphere because like that's like the first thing you need. But imagine there's no water here. like it's Maybe they started putting water here or making water somehow.

Speaker: But It's all stagnant and frozen. Like, it's there's those it's, you know, very cold here.

Speaker: But, like, it legit looks like a planet. Like, you have cities. You have wide open fields. But maybe there's no grass anymore. Maybe there's, like, just bare dirt.

Speaker: Because everything's just kind of like... Well, maybe there there maybe there there wouldn't have to be so much like...

Speaker: Trees and planes and stuff because they didn't bring animals with them. It's just for the people. Yeah, but like how would the people feed themselves? Replicators?

Speaker: Like, it's... So they replicate food or just... It's just it's a futuristic space world, Neil. Okay, so there's no farming or anything. It's just all food's generated. Oh, okay.

Speaker: Huh. Okay. So they did... I mean, they so there's, like, parks and there's places where you can go. Yeah. But, like, and maybe there's, like, a few, like, there's a few birds here. Yeah. But, like, it's not it's not an ecosystem.

Speaker: Right. So imagine, like, the parks that were supposed to be used for people to kind of, like, relax and, yeah you know, they're just dead. There's, like, empty lots of dirt or just, like, they just don't have anything there.

Speaker: It depends on how far they got, right? Like, maybe maybe literally, like, every, like... Like, this thing is completely devoid of life. there but Like, there might be dirt there but no grass. Right. Right.

Speaker: There's no trees. There's nothing. Yeah, there's nothing. Yeah. Maybe they, like, they hadn't got to planting yet. Yeah. Or maybe that was like, the last thing they did. i all All the infrastructure's there. Yeah. It's just they hadn't got that far yet because of the what happened. They probably should have, like, they had plots to plant gardens and parks and stuff. But then they, either they did and the sun died and killed everything, so there was absolutely nothing left. Or they just didn't plant anything yet. They didn't get that far away. Yeah, because, like, if there's no light, yeah no trees, no plants are going to grow. So, like, why would we? Okay, like, okay, well, I guess we're not. And they probably would have transplanted some of the stuff from the planet anyway. Oh, Yeah.

Speaker: But that happened. So, they're like, oh, well, yeah. All right. It's like, not only is this project on hold, no one's allowed to touch and go near this plant because it will kill you.

Speaker: If you're a if you're a jellyfish. Yeah. yeah As a jellyfish said amongst themselves. They basically just went... They basically went to work one day and you're like oh shit. The first shift is completely gone. They just got absorbed by the planet. The sun's gone. What the hell?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: it was a big loss. They probably... Yeah, there are some CEOs that are not happy or, you know, the or or we could make it like it was, the spa was a co-op situation. Between the squids and the and the jellyfish or the people on the planet.

Speaker: No, i meant like it ah amongst the jellyfish, like it wasn't a and ah corporation. It was like, okay, yeah, we're going to build this spa planet. Yeah. We're going to And save all the people that are fucking their planet. yeah So, like, whatever whatever you yesner whatever you want to decide these jellyfish people intentions were whatever, that's for you.

Speaker: If you want to have ah an evil corporation, go for it. If you want to make them hippies, whatever you want. is it

Speaker: um We're not building everything for So, like, have this world now. yeah so like we have this world now Yes. So i have this world. This... Dead, futuristic space world.

Speaker: That's just dirt? Dirt and iron, essentially. Or some futuristic metal and that's probably lighter. i imagine this place kind of looks like... um I'm trying to think of the name of the game. um Like, cyberpunk. Yeah, like...

Speaker: Really big, sharp-looking buildings. That's what I was kind of picking yeah Yeah. Maybe there was vehicles there. like they like they justly this The jellyfish thought of everything. Like, okay, here's some nice cars for these people to drive.

Speaker: They're a lot better the shitty cars they have on their planet now. So, like, they'll definitely want to live here because this is so much better than the world that they live in now.

Speaker: But everything is still completely preserved because there's no water. Yeah. So there's no water to create corrosion. Right. There's no, like... So, yeah, like, this thing is, like, a shiny... There's no wind. there's But there's is also all still no, like, rogue yeah space dust to getting in there because it's still self-contained.

Speaker: Right. It's just... So, like, you still... Like, this is, like, a shiny new car that somebody found in an abandoned garage. And... Or abandoned, like, you know airtight.

Speaker: Like, they have they have storage units that are like, weathertight. Yeah. So, like, this is this is, like, a brand new car that somebody found in an abandoned storage unit. And it is pristine.

Speaker: Hasn't been driven. But for some reason, it devours our old owner.

Speaker: yeah it it It absorbs any magic. Yeah. So... Or and any energy, I should say. Yeah. It doesn't have to be magic. Like, it it it wants to be powered up.

Speaker: Mm-hmm.

Speaker: So, and and maybe people who've come across it and they're like, what is this? And they land or whatever. And then like, oh, yeah, this sucks. Let's not get let's get out of here. yeah Imagine like if ah if somebody was in their space cruiser or whatever and came across across this planet, it's like, oh, we can like scavenge it for for technology. kind of thing because like it's it's a giant ball of technology. ah But like they're trying to get close to they're like, oh shit, our ship's batteries are being drained. We should get the fuck away from this place. So like this thing is just radiating a field of like magic or energy absorption. It's not quite a black hole, but like it's like...

Speaker: It's an energy black hole. Yeah. Yeah. So that's why it's still intact. Like, one's come here to scavenge it for parts because how can they get close about their equipment being shit? Right. And, like,

Speaker: the and

Speaker: because it's such a huge undertaking, and needed it needed that star. Mm-hmm. Without that star, there's no... there's There's no way they could get the amount of energy to power it up e fully.

Speaker: So, like, when that went out and it sucked up the jellyfish that were there, and they're like, at power you know that powered whatever for a while, and then it ran out of power, and so it's just laying there. Hmm.

Speaker: Just ready to get some juice going. It'll power up and the filtration systems will start working and still no water, but you know.

Speaker: Cool. I like it. There you go, Sam. yeah I bet you didn't think that. Wild shit. I'm sure this is definitely not what you think it is.

Speaker: um Yeah, I like it. um That's a world. That's a futuristic space world. But it's definitely not what you thought it was going to be. Guaranteed. Me neither.

Speaker: right Yeah. Fun ride. And see, and it did but this is what this is what we do. Yep. And now we get to see how Odie and Idy deal with this.

Speaker: Yep, that'll be fun. That'll be interesting. um But that's next time. That is next episode. If you like what you're here, feel free to hop on over to Apple Podcasts and leave us a review. You'd appreciate it.

Speaker: um give us Give us some stars. Subscribe. Share it with your friends. If they wanted to get in touch with us or perhaps submit a prompt, where would they go, Janelle?

Speaker: They'd go to our Discord that is in our show notes. Or GlitterFoxMedia.com. GlitterFoxMedia.com. Where you find the Discord and it'll also be in the show notes. Yes.

Speaker: there we have a We have a dedicated Discord channel just for ah just for prompts for the show. yeah And we want to hear them. We need them. We crave them.

Speaker: We need them all. We really need them. That was a little sinister. I didn't mean that. so So until next time, stay safe, everyone.

Speaker: Or something.
