Speaker: Hello, beautiful souls. I'm so grateful that you're tuning in. Welcome to my podcast, Misunderstood, guiding highly sensitive people through an emotional dark age. I'm your host, Candice Vandal, and I'm honored to embark on this transformative journey with you.
Speaker: Have you ever felt like you didn't quite fit into the world around you or even your own family? Like your sensitivity was a burden rather than a gift? If so, you're not alone. And here's the truth.
Speaker: Your sensitivity is not a flaw. It's a superpower. It's what allows you to feel deeply, to connect with others on a profound level, and to access a higher realm of consciousness.
Speaker: And on this podcast, we're going to explore how to harness that power and use it to create a life of purpose, passion, and true confidence. Here in this sacred space, we honor your sensitivity as the gift it truly is.
Speaker: Get ready to embark on the journey of unapologetic emotional honesty and next level healing. Let's dive in together.
Speaker: Hello lovely souls, welcome to season 2. I have a very exciting announcement for you. Those of you who have been with me for a while have probably been waiting for this for a while. And I want to tell you guys, I have published my book.
Speaker: Not only did I publish it this year, but it became an international bestseller within 12 hours. So this is for you. You are too conscious for this world. You are not wrong. You're early. This is for anyone who is neurodivergent, the scapegoat child, who feels different in the world, who can't figure out where your freaking purpose is because 9 to 5 just isn't your jam. A lot of you who have ADHD, okay, you're born to be an entrepreneur. You have spiritual gifts. You have things that are not noticed in this world. You can tune into denied traumas in other people. And when you're too young to have the words to articulate what you're feeling, you get gaslit.
Speaker: and toxic shamed, meaning you take on the shame of those who are not capable of understanding your level of awareness. I call you the highly perceptive soul in this book.
Speaker: This is my story. i started writing it over 13 years ago for my second year project in grad school, and I didn't put it out until now because I didn't think the world was ready. People didn't know what the hell ADHD is, which I want to talk about really quickly. I call it attention dialed to a higher dimension.
Speaker: being a young kid in school and being diagnosed at seven years old 40 years ago. it was a shame-based diagnosis. Not like today when a lot of people are excited, oh, I finally figured out what it is. I understand that excitement because it makes it make sense, right? But when you're a kid and you're diagnosed and you're the only person in your entire town with it and you have to secretly go take a little yellow pill at lunchtime, Ritalin, for 10 years, it has a different stigma because, by the way, I've been medication-free for 30 years, so there's that whole other topic. But at the time,
Speaker: It was this diagnosis I was given because I was different and I knew that the difference was good, but I wasn't going to be able to convince anyone of that because what the system thinks good is, is people who do things the right way, the way that they tell you to do it. It's right and wrong, but I say it's right and then it's another right, right? We have a different brain, not a disordered brain. And a lot of you feel disordered because you're like, I can't organize or I can't, like for me, when someone gives me something to look into that I'm immediately not interested in, I ain't doing it There's no chance. One of my friends told me today, hey, you have to like set up your whole clod. I'm like, nope, I'm going to hire someone to do that. I'm going outsource that because this girl is not going to do that. All I want to do is my favorite topic all day long.
Speaker: I just build content and heal souls, and that's all I want to do. i don't want to do AI tech stuff. No. So the thing about an ADHD brain, by the way, is that you're very aligned with what's right for you and what your purpose is, but your purpose isn't in society. So when you have an ADHD brain and your attention is dialed to a higher dimension, it's because you're distracted from shit that's distracting you from your purpose.
Speaker: So when someone's telling me to do um I don't know, physics, I'm like, bye. i want to go dive into my spiritual world, right? So that's what's interesting. Also, we have a depth about us. We don't want therapy. We want spiritual psychology, which is why I became a spiritual psychologist. But anyway, I digress.
Speaker: When you are born and you have this difference that you know is good and there's no one to understand you and no one's understanding your level of understanding and you don't have words to articulate your level of understanding, what happens is is now you have a bunch of people that have a perception of you that you can't do anything about and you can't understand. So guess what happens?
Speaker: The ADHD symptoms act up. Why is that? I'm distracting myself from an environment I can't control and something I can't get out of. Think about that. It's a trauma response. A lot of us with ADHD have trauma because we're born into a world that is literally gaslighting our nature.
Speaker: in the school system, in the medical system, because we're like, isn't there a holistic approach? You guys aren't getting to the root. You're telling me what to mask, just like Ritalin. Mask your emotion.
Speaker: Mask your rejection sensitivity, because no one can deal with it. So let's just get rid of it so you don't feel connected to yourself. You don't feel like yourself. Okay? So... You grow up with a stigma that isn't even true. So you grow up feeling very misunderstood, which is why I created this Misunderstood Podcast. But what's so beautiful about my life is I did find my zone very early on.
Speaker: I became an international model the week after I graduated from high school. i was in Tokyo, Japan, and then Greece, and then Germany, and then New Zealand, and all these places. And I didn't have medication anymore when I went back to college because I had found my purpose.
Speaker: And I found what worked for me in life. And you need to find what works for you in life. but you got to stop looking in the wrong direction. 9 to 5 is never going to work for you. Unless you're in a 9 to 5 with your favorite topic.
Speaker: But you're also not going to like the structure of the 9 to 5 because you're going why do I have to do it this way? You want to do it your way. Right? So many of us, my first chapter in my book, by the way, is called The Problem Child Isn't the Problem.
Speaker: The shame. You ain't the problem. Society is a problem. You're here to elevate society, but you have to empower yourself first be able to anchor into yourself, to stop reacting to things that are so wrong for you and all the misunderstandings around you. And you need to really understand that you have a higher calling. It doesn't mean better calling. Some people are called to be doctors. They're in the system and we need that shit.
Speaker: You're probably not that. If anything, you'll be a spiritual doctor, ah doctor of spiritual psychology, whatever it is for you. You're a creative, you're an entrepreneur, you're an innovator. You are figuring shit out in a way that most people can't and that's why you're never being mirrored because they can't. You have to understand you are a leader, right? And when we can't get there fast enough, we fall into what I call spiritual disease chapter seven in my book.
Speaker: which is these symptoms that are unexplainable because it's a spiritual illness. Your dis-ease with your spiritual path. You have been asked to go against yourself, autoimmune, for so many years that your body now mimics that. And it goes against yourself. Your cells attack each other, right? They attack themselves. So we need to end that.
Speaker: We need to also stop these trauma bonds and toxic relationship dynamics because of the toxic relationship we have with society because society is gaslighting us. So what do we do? We fall into relationships that gaslight us. We look for authority figures somewhere. We look for someone to love us and mirror us and that looks like love bombing until the dopamine in our brain gets that hit and then we get addicted, love addiction, which is, by the way,
Speaker: scientifically proven that any romantic relationship creates a dopamine hit. So if you already have low dopamine because you have ADHD, you're probably gonna have some love addiction issues. And the way we get over those love addiction issues and stop falling into that is no longer needing to find our worth outside of us, but no longer needing other people to understand us or validate us because we get it.
Speaker: We disagree with their rejection of us. We stop abandoning ourselves. We start claiming and being loyal to our own soul. The last chapter of my book is embodiment. When you embody this, this is when you start to get really successful and happy and abundant and healthy.
Speaker: Because now, instead of being affected by everyone and every energy in your environment, you start affecting it. All my clients I've been working with over the last few years literally now step into work rooms and they're like, why am I all of a sudden having a fun time while I'm at the hospital? I'm like, because you are affecting the dominant energy. You are becoming that. When you are connected to yourself regardless of anyone, when you are unconditionally you, there is no option other than environments either mirroring you or you rejecting the rejection of you.
Speaker: Period. The somatic experience is released. The triggers are lessened. You become a neutral observer instead of a, you know, stressful observer. You're no longer triggered by things that aren't aligned. You just notice they're not aligned, but it's not because there's something wrong with you.
Speaker: And that's the biggest issue for those of us who are highly sensitive, who are born into a planet that we're more conscious than, is we're constantly feeling gaslit and we're constantly feeling like there's not a mirror. and we're constantly looking for our worth out there because we didn't get it from the developmental years we needed it. And so the way I find my worth is with God. I literally started going to God when I was really young and I had my first spiritual experience, my Atabodic experience. You'll read about it. I was 16 years old.
Speaker: I understood, but going back into the world gave me an existential crisis because the things I understood were not happening on this planet. They were only happening in my understanding. And it took me years to anchor my understanding into the way to articulate, to really serve others. And as I started really healing, my gifts came back online where I can literally tune into your inner child at whatever age and tell you exactly where you're not integrated, and that creates a subconscious block.
Speaker: all of that in my book. But I wanted to do this podcast to launch off season two to tell you about It is available on Amazon in every country, pretty sure. And you can get the Kindle version. You can get the hard copy. You can get the paperback.
Speaker: And I'm excited for you because this is not a self-help book. This is a self-recognition book. You will feel and see into your own soul and say, holy shit,
Speaker: It all makes sense. She gets me. I get me. I don't need everyone else to get me. Anyway, guys, short episode because I got about six clients tonight. I got to roll, but I'll be back. I love you guys. Too Conscious for This World on Amazon.
Speaker: i will be back soon. i also should mention to you, if you want to do a deep dive with me, I'm starting my new inner work for eight weeks, November 9th. So be sure to check my website. Because a lot of people get mad at because they're like, I didn't know it was starting. I'm telling y'all now. Inner work starts November 9th.
Speaker: So many beautiful things i want to share with you guys that have happened to me over the last few months after putting my most vulnerable, most authentic, most raw story out in the world. The visibility just exploded for me. There is no visibility wounds. Shame kind of leaves when you out yourself and you're received with love. And I just want to leave you with that today. Love you guys so much. And I can't wait to see you again very soon.
