Speaker: Hey and welcome to Better Betting! My name is Eric Rubin. And I'm here with my partner, the King of Timonium. Gary Quill. GQ. How be you? I am wonderful, Eric.
Speaker: Fall has... Temperatures has arrived in the mid Atlantic. The heat went on and in my place. um but More so, this is... The one week.
Speaker: That we can guarantee. We are going to talk about horse racing at my home track, or my... home state track. Laurel because On Saturday, it is Maryland Million.
Speaker: And I'm trying to do, is it maybe like the 32nd or 33rd annual running of the Maryland 34, 35? 41. 41, okay. All right. We have a little helper because we have a guest.
Speaker: And our guest to help us through the Maryland Millie late pick five. ah this week. is the one and only Frank Vespi. owner and publisher. of the racingbiz .com. the racing biz.
Speaker: covers all the tracks along the Mid -Atlantic. And... I don't know how Frank does it because there are certain weekends that he's running from. one state to the next. due to the stakes cards. And I feel for Frank on...
Speaker: Preakness week. And probably this weekend, Maryland Million, to a lesser extent, because it's just... one big day but It's 12 races. And every year.
Speaker: uh, people who aren't familiar with Marilyn Millian and even myself, I have to, re -familiarize myself with What are the rules of horses who can enter and run in the Maryland Million? So that's why we had asked Frank on ah because.
Speaker: He knows this inside and out. So first of all, Frank, thanks a lot for taking the time to join us. Oh, thanks for having me, guys. I appreciate it. And I look forward to chatting with you about the Maryland Million Races. and I will say, Gary, actually, the best thing about this year's Maryland Million is it's two weeks later than last year's Maryland Million, which means it's not on the same.
Speaker: day as West Virginia breeders classic. So I do not have to do a double header this week. and show Awesome. night Um, The answer to your question is... Marilyn million is first and foremost for Maryland sired horses, so horses that are by stallions who stand or stood at the time of conception.
Speaker: in Maryland. Um, And so. That leads to some confusion among the betting public. And we've got a couple of races, I think, here where you've got like.
Speaker: Eight. courses in the body and then three aes and people are saying well why not just let the also eligibles in And the answer is because the also -eligibles are not Maryland sired, they're Maryland bred.
Speaker: And the rule on that is. ah If a race has eight Maryland sired. That's it. And if it has more than eight Maryland sired, that's fine. That's fine, too.
Speaker: If it goes under eight Maryland sire, then Maryland breds are allowed in, but it's like on a one -for -one trade to keep a field size of eight.
Speaker: Gotcha. So it doesn't open the floodgates for every Maryland bred to get in the race just because. It went down to seven. uh Exactly. That allows one in. One. Not more than one. And you might remember, Gary, it used to be. I think it used to be six Maryland sired, but if it dropped under six, then they let all the Maryland breads in. yeah I think there was a race one year that like scratched down a five and then all of a sudden like six Maryland breads came in and all of a sudden you had 11 horses and it was sort of kooky. So I think the system.
Speaker: Makes as much sense as it's going to make, given... you know, sort of declining fall crops, declining salience in Maryland. and ah and the rules you know that they're trying to make it about Marilyn Sired. So I think the betting public will ah always be a little confused, but I think this makes as much sense as we're going to get.
Speaker: Well, there was a horse entered in one of the races when we get that race. And I'm like, how is this guy eligible? And then I did a little bit of homework and found out that. The year that this horse was foaled...
Speaker: His or her sire was actually nominated or was a stallion, even though. The the the stallion was an Irish bread.
Speaker: He stood in 2023 at Northview Station Stallions. So I got my answer there. yeah um And there's one race. I think it's the sprint, which I think is the second race on the card, which I know we're not really going to talk about. but There's a horse by complexity in there.
Speaker: Because I think there are only seven Maryland sired. Gotcha. like that So cool complexity not standing in Maryland. All right. Cool. All right. Well.
Speaker: Again, thanks a lot for being with us. ah Check out the Racing Biz ah for everything having to do with mid -Atlantic racing. Frank. does a yeoman's job and he's all over the place.
Speaker: uh with all the tracks that are open in the mid -atlantic Uh, But... This weekend. It's Maryland Million. and uh Eric.
Speaker: uh do you have anything to ask frank or any comments you want to make because Eric. Being a New Yorker. He enjoys. Laurel, and he's going to be on site Saturday. He's he's coming down, so the handle's going to go up ah precipitously.
Speaker: With Eric in town. Talking about this because. you know new york we got like a million dollars in the pick five so If anyone listens to me, it doesn't really affect the odds. Now I'm worried. People are going to bet and affect the odds here, but hopefully hopefully that's not the case. I'm kind of kidding. But no, Frank, thanks for being on. I'm i'm sure people want to hear about the races and all, so I don't want to take too much time. but Definitely outnumbered two Maryland breads, I assume I'm talking to. and
Speaker: I won't even bring up the fact the Ravens got their butt spanked by the lowly Cleveland Browns. Won't even bring that up this week. i I think Frank's a Commander fan, right? Am I right? No? I'm actually, I'm a J -bread. I'm a New Jersey bread. Oh, I didn't like that. Welcome, Dano. I've lived down here for...
Speaker: ah Well, a long time. Let's just say that a long time. But ah yeah, so as a as a kid growing up, i I can't. Can't say that I pay much attention to football anymore, but I...
Speaker: to the extent that I do, I'd be a Giants fan. Hmm. I retain all my, you know Kind of New York, New Jersey fanhood. There you go.
Speaker: Well, the one thing, Frank, you have in common with Eric are your big hockey fans, ice hockey fans. Yes, but he's ah on the he's on the wrong side of the correct team.
Speaker: If you tell me you're a Ranger fan, we might have to end this podcast. I hate to do it to you. You know what? I just feel bad for for Ranger fans, so I won't be too upset. No, it's not fun and mediocrity for a long time. oh that Let's just say, i yeah, I grew up... you know. I grew up in the 70s and 80s.
Speaker: They won the cup in 94. I was. 27. That ah will. ah quite clearly be the one they would in my lifetime so i'm gonna take it ah Yeah, we enjoyed that one. That's about all we're going to get. It's funny. I went to the Islander Ranger game at the Guardian a couple weeks ago.
Speaker: And we sat next to these two guys who actually do a podcast on the. uh rangers i didn't tell him i do a horse racing podcast but he's called ranger ed because they're both named ed so someone listening might have heard of them or care maybe i just gave him a plug and People will listen to the show, but they were like really nice to us. I was with my Islander Jersey, my friend with his Islander Jersey. and And now you're on here and you're a nice guy. So I'm really, my view of Ranger fans, I don't like this. is Your world view is all tore up. yeah
Speaker: you know, jerks. and bad people but all right Anyway, you want to get started, I guess? Yeah, all right. Once again, um we're uh Looking at the Maryland Million card on Saturday, October 24th at Laurel Park.
Speaker: And we're going to go over the late pick five. There's 12 races. So the first leg starts. in race eight, which is a mile and a 16th on the turf. for Phillies and Marist year olds. and Upward it's a starter. It's one of the starter races Bye. Starter handicap, 16 ,000.
Speaker: A field of 14 is signed on to go postward. The five to two more in line favorite. is the seven, Gift of Gab. But, Frank... um This is a sprinter on turf and... She's stretching out.
Speaker: Do you see her as a vulnerable favorite here? I do, yes. yeah I mean, i you you made the exact point. She... ah I assume she's going to be the high weight in the field. She's carrying 126. She's a really good sprinter, and she might be good enough to just carry it all the way, but she's...
Speaker: I don't believe she's ever gone around a ground in her 35 race career. She's seven years old. um So I... I'm inclined in this race to look around at least a little bit. I just, I, you know, was it Harvey pack said you don't take favoritism on a horse, trying something for the first time. And that's what she's doing. I don't know that I'm.
Speaker: i Don't know if I'm brave enough to chase her completely off the ticket, but I might be But I'd look around here. What do you guys think? Error. Yeah, I mean, I don't know if she's going to be that short, but if she is, I really hope she is. Yeah, I have no interest in the Seven Gift of Yabu.
Speaker: has run some nice races but for the reasons you said and not only is he she'd been all sprint Looking up the breeding. I mean her mom was you you might know I'm not familiar with some of these horses, but ah Her mom was all sprints.
Speaker: It's really... distance is a major question for me. So yeah, um I'm going to hope. She's bad, and I'm going to hope she's not in the top three. Yeah, and as far as a pace scenario, I think there it's going to be at least an honest pace. ah She's a sprinter, but she she doesn't have sprinter speed. so she I guess she'll be maybe mid -pack, but there's... There's plenty. ah horses in here that are going to want to be on or or close to the lead
Speaker: I kind of... not Not going too far outside of the realm of a price horse. But all the way on the outside, I... Kind of like the 9 -2.
Speaker: Probably a second choice set ablaze for Robbie Bales. Robbie Bales, like Karen Godsey. Take this one down to Colonial for... The summer had two wins.
Speaker: All right. Didn't run all that great first time back at Laurel, but with Forest Boys signing back on. yeah I give this one. a Bit of a shot. Frank, do you have?
Speaker: Anybody else ah other than... um maybe this one or Who who do you think has an outside shot? I mean, I think I would probably... ah Take a look at Bay Street, who has... uh you know run really run against better than most of these and pretty competitively and gets Paco up. and
Speaker: I mean, you guys know all Paco did this summer was win three different meat titles at once. That's got to count for something. I also think Don't Tell Darren is a little interesting. you know ran okay last time, had won previously against 10 claimers before that.
Speaker: So, I mean, I think those are a couple of horses that I'm going to. I might fool around with a little bit. No, I totally agree with you with the six horse. Don't tell Darren. I mean, if you're going to get the 10 to one. It's certainly attractive ah for smiling Jerry Robb. Eric, do you want to add more?
Speaker: Are these? The morning line's yours or did the morning line come in? No, these are... Official?
Speaker: The official AI morning line. Really? Because I looked Friday. It wasn't out, so I didn't even look for Saturday. How do you like that? How do you like that? Because I'm like, wait, that's not going to be the odds of that who the odds that. But all right, I guess it will be. Who do you like? yeah who Who can I tell you who you who you want to bet at not low odds? or Well, I'm kind of upset because I kind of like, even though the post price stinks, 14 set of blades that you mentioned. Nine to two. But I figure it should be about eight to one in this field. So item nine to two, it's a little short. But, um you know, at the 14 set of blades I thought ran.
Speaker: uh better than it looks last couple with a wide trip and was closing nicely two back against restricted allowance over colonial. And then last time. had a wide trip against better so I don't know. I thought she had a decent chance here. 9 -2 is a little tough. There's one horse who I think is going to be a price that I kind of like a little bit.
Speaker: I'm afraid to find out now. This one is going to be like the favorite. Of course, I have a 15 -to -1 on my morning line that I made, the three Catarzyna. That's how you say it? What do you got there? 30 to 1. Ooh, I like that.
Speaker: Well, now I have to switch because, honestly, I would bet the 14 at 8 -1 over the 3 at 15 -1. But if that's going to be the odds. I would take a swing with this horse. Maybe she has no shot. I don't know. but Last race on a yielding course in Delaware in a race that I thought favored closers the way it was run for the most part.
Speaker: i had a ah wide trip chasing a decent pace there and I don't know. Since she added Blinker, she's run a couple. Again, I know last race doesn't look good, but I think it's a lot better than it looks, plus yielding. Who knows? so I would take a swing with her. and I know the jockeys too. Maybe I have wrong jockeys because...
Speaker: You guys are probably used to this down there, but... It's like the same jockey listed on seven horses in every race. You see multiple jockeys. Yeah, they just name whoever. I don't know about this race, but as it comes up, I'll point it out. like they um is listed on like three awards in the one race so they come Yeah, no, i i when I looked at the the morning lines, I also made sure the jockey assignments were correct. So if when there's changes, I'll let you know. Yeah, you know, I probably printed it.
Speaker: originally when it came out and people just list whatever jockey and then they actually figure it out who's writing whatever but I have Daniel Santino on the three, Katarzyna in. I don't know. This horse has a little speed. Doesn't need to lead. Obviously, he never really goes, but can sit.
Speaker: maybe a perfect trip right behind the lead saving ground from the inside So 3 and 14 are two words I want to use. And i just to wrap it up from my end, I do like the 5 and 6 a little bit. The 5, Bay Street. The 6, Don't Tell Darren. And that's who Frank already mentioned, so I won't repeat. everything you said there. but Those are the horses that I'd want to use mostly. Actually, the two you didn't mention. That's the only other one. Shine on Moon I want to use also. What's the odds on the two?
Speaker: The odds on the two is six to one. All right, I put four to one, so it's probably around there, maybe five to one. On me. These are words to... Two back, I really liked that race in Delaware on August 1st because there really was no pace in that race. It might look like it, but no one was moving.
Speaker: And while she didn't save ground, She got shuffled out a little bit late. uh on the back stretch and was gaining into a race with not much pace. and last I would have bet her last time. I doubt I was betting Delaware that day. but This is a horse I almost definitely would have had last time at 4 -1, so maybe I missed the boat.
Speaker: She was two wide, two or three wide, never saved ground last time in the August 20th race and still won. So, of course, I definitely think has ah a good shot. So as far as like a pick five goes, I would use the. two five six 13, I'm sorry, two, five, six, three, and 14. So two, three, five, six, 14. I'd probably go five deep trying to get through this race.
Speaker: uh personally based on what i'm doing in the other lens frank did did you want to add anything else about the race whether i said something or someone we didn't talk about No, I think you guys have hit it. I mean, I think, you know, the...
Speaker: The question is A huge question, I think, for this race is going to be how low does... gift of gab go um and what opportunities does that create? And so I, I like what you're doing though. You're just tossing her. Um,
Speaker: Because I do. She's like one of those horses. You either buy that she's getting a mile and 16th and then she wins because she's clearly better than these horses Or you decide she's not and then... You just leave her off. Yeah, we we talk about this a lot on the show. just You know, if you can beat a favorite, if she is a favorite.
Speaker: If you can be the favorite, specifically heavy favorite, but If you can be in a favorite. You can pay so well. so I don't mind just trying to beat favorites. You know, if I start adding favorites, like if I'm like, oh, well, she's okay. And then I start putting her second and third and exact as triples.
Speaker: A if she comes in and probably won't pay a ton anyway and How many times is there going to be a horse similar to her that I don't love as a favorite? And I'm throwing her in because, yeah, she could do it. And I'm using those other races. It's just, if even if she comes in, it doesn't make up for the amount of time. If I'm a decent handicap release, it's not going to make up for the amount of times that I don't really love a favorite and trying to beat. Could she win? Of course she's good enough if she can get the distance, but.
Speaker: I'm okay. And actually betting the race. Depending on the odds, you know, I mentioned five horses. I don't know that I'd box all five unless they were... a good price like if she's six to five and she won't be even close but if she was like seven to five i might not add have a problem boxing five words even If not, I would probably key the 14.
Speaker: with the two, three, sit five, six. So I do like exact as. 14 with 2, 3, 5, 6. box i do triples like that and it also key to three i do three with those forces so three with two five six fourteen and then same thing in the triple depending on how much i want to spend so i probably do that I don't know if I put all five of them together. Again, it really depends on the odds of of the seven that I'm leaving out and the boards I have. but I don't think I have.
Speaker: other than the three i don't have long enough prices the others are kind of like you know five to one ish so I'd probably just keep the 14 and the ah three with those horses. ah Before we move on, there there's only one other that I want to mention. It's the nine horse, Happy This Day. 8 to 1 morning line.
Speaker: What I kind of noticed was that Um, At least... her best Turf figure. was just run uh Two races ago, at Colonial, kind of at this level, 16th. claiming.
Speaker: uh and Whenever she's caught a firm turf... two Two of the three ah races that she's actually caught a firm turf, she's won on.
Speaker: And the forecast in Maryland, we haven't had rain since late. Last weekend, we were recording this on a... Tuesday afternoon. There is 0 % chance of rain for the rest of the week. So hopefully that forecast holds. in we get somewhat of a farm turf.
Speaker: Do you think it will be firm, Frank? I know we got a lot of rain. over the last couple of weeks and they they were they've been off the turf. trying to save it for a million. Yeah, I mean, they were off all weekend. i Hopefully, I mean, it's not. You know, it's going to be.
Speaker: It's been relatively cool. So that might slow down the drying process. I think the turf will be fine, and whether it's farm whether it's farm or not. Yeah, but I think it'll be fine. i don't I would not expect it to be like super boggy or anything. Funky that you'd have to.
Speaker: Good. Figure out. All right, cool. All right, so that's leg one. Move on to race nine, which is leg two of the late pick five on Mail -A -Million Day at Laurel Park Saturday.
Speaker: It's the six furlongs. Maryland Million Nursery. for two -year -olds Uh... Twelve have been entered. Two...
Speaker: Our Maryland breds who will not draw in unless ah We have a ton of scratches down to seven. um for either one to draw in the Morning line, four to five morning line favorite.
Speaker: is the nine watts notion. Uh... Really? good horse. But you know what? As we all know as handicappers, these two -year -olds are unpredictable. They can grow, get better, or get worse overnight. ah So, Frank, do you believe in Walt's notion or do you see someone else in here interested? I'm...
Speaker: Probably going Excuse me, going to leave him on the ticket because he really has been impressive. I mean, he. he won at first asking over strong suspicion, then got beat ahead by strong suspicion at first eight dash, then turned around and won the James F. Lewis. the third pretty impressively.
Speaker: um I mean, he's He's a legitimate racehorse here. And this one is a half to another horse who's racing on this car at Pond Haven, who is a stakes winner. ah And you get Paco up.
Speaker: just for good measure. In a long -winded way of saying... I'm not going to toss this horse. I don't see him as a single either. I mean, we've seen so many freakish things happen in these baby races on Maryland Million Day, including first -time starters winning these races. So I am not going to not going to not go to single. I mean, I think i I want to use Monster Mitch a little bit, impressive debut winner, beat ah Aruba Arriba, who then came back and won impressively. but the price I want to fiddle with a little bit here.
Speaker: is Derry Moon for Cal Lynch, Vincent Shemino. up Source was. hopelessly beaten in his debut Except then he came running at the end and picked everybody up and won by a nose. Coming home, he got that last furlong almost a full second faster than any other horse in that race. and um
Speaker: I, you know. I don't think they were entirely stopping in the front. like The horses that were up close early were around at the end. you know It's not like one of those races where it just completely flipped upside down.
Speaker: I think there has been a next out winner out of the race. um And look, there's lots of holes you can shoot in it. It was off the turf. The buyer speed figure came back light. I get it.
Speaker: But as you said, Gary, we've seen horses kind of jump up. you know, kind of jump up and jump down as two year olds. I thought this was visually an impressive effort.
Speaker: I like the fact that he was able to close a little bit and pass some horses, which a lot of two -year -olds aren't really inclined to do. And Cal Lynch, I mean. Hey. He does better with two -year -olds than just about anybody not named Gary Capuano. So um it's a barn that knows that. you know i know that cal really likes working with the babies it does well with the babies so At 15 to 1, this horse is going to appear on my ticket.
Speaker: Cool. Eric? Well, Frank stole my thunder. laugh fifteen so on Not only stole your thunder, but cursed you. Oh, come on. Yeah. The only thing I'll add about ah about the horse. the three dairy moon.
Speaker: is that not only did he close like a monster, like Frank said, He was the only one who made up ground in that race, too. I mean, that was basically like a merry -go -round for the most part. where the horses that were one two three stayed one two three the fourth and fifth stayed there except this horse uh closed and won the race so That's even more impressive to me. Now he's not a Malibu Moon mayor.
Speaker: uh damn who malibu moon is a a great mud influence so maybe that's why he had the seal track but I'm still liking him at 15 -1 or anything close to that. So Gary Moon definitely for me.
Speaker: I agree with Frank also that like the nine is, is probably going to be tough here. I would think Walt's notion. I'm still going to take a shot against Waltz and Ocean personally. uh not as much confidence as race eight going against the favorite but Definitely a little less confidence, but...
Speaker: I'm going to play against him. I know he's run well, obviously. Two for three, and they only lost by a head. I don't think the – is that the Jeff Lewis? Is that what they call it? I'm sorry. James. james James. Okay, sorry, James, I apologize for messing up your name there.
Speaker: um But the James Lewis. I mean, I looked at the horse in that race. There was like four of the horses. One of them was coming off like a 50 -something buyer with an easy lead in the race before where I would never touch that horse. Another horse had won at Tramonium, you know, wired the field at Tramonium with not a great speed figure. so Yeah, the horse might be very good, but I don't know what he's beaten. even though it looks good because coming out of these stakes races, and I think some of these have some talent here. so
Speaker: I'm going to try and beat him. I have a few words I like. yo We mentioned the Three Dairy Moon. That's going to be my key, actually. I think another long shot. Has a shot here and that's the five call it So I'm really going bomb shopping.
Speaker: The five call. Is that in Rosario? That's not an apprentice runner, is it? It is, yeah. Okay, so he doesn't get his box. That kind of sucks. But the fact they're using him, I guess, is a good sign. I don't know.
Speaker: But this is a horse who ran on the Charford Colonial. first out so i don't really care about the the turf race that much Then went on the dirt in a restricted meeting claiming, I'm sure it wasn't the strongest field, 38 -1.
Speaker: Went after the 9 -5 shot in that race who came in second. a first -time starter. uh who came back to uh run like a 45 50 buyer next out so you know i just thought he ran a decent race on the dirt there and then he improved a lot on the turf so last race on the turf He got squeezed at the start about four to five lines. He was tight on the turn.
Speaker: So usually I don't really care about turf races when I'm looking at dirt horses, but my point in bringing it up is. His first chart phrase was not very good. Last time against, oh. allowance foes. i thought he ran really well so i think he improved a ton last race
Speaker: And he got that 55 buyer on the dirt. If he improved a lot last race, maybe that 55 is really now a 70 something because he improved so much. So I'm going to take a swing with the five, call it three Derry Moon. and And one other I'll mention is the 10. aruba ariba nothing crazy there there's worse who you know buyer speed figure matches the nine waltz notion they both got a 76 last out granted it was an amazing claiming event
Speaker: But I thought the horse ran really well, chasing three wide, one easily again. not that he beat necessarily that much. And even his first race. This is the tenor. Ruba Arriba I upgraded that first raid. It's gotten a dual.
Speaker: uh in that first race and uh in that race monster mitch who you mentioned the sixth horse in this race. uh i don't know she's got a great trip just sitting behind the speed duel so I thought Aruba ran better.
Speaker: Again, I probably would have had him last time, although he was 4 -5, so maybe I wouldn't have taken him. um you know now kind of you know we'll see what the price is i don't think he's gonna be nine to two it needs to be shorter but If I can get nine to two, I'll definitely use them. So so I'm going to see three. 5, 10 in this race.
Speaker: I might add the seven. I don't want to keep talking, but I might add the seven and eight. I won't talk about them unless you want me to, but I might add the seven and eight and a pick five just to try and beat the nine, but I'll mostly three, five, 10 here. Well, just Just for your information, Eric, your call the five horse call, it's 21 Morning Line.
Speaker: And Aruba Reeb is 9 -2. frank yes i actually went down and wrote it when you were uh talking because i okay But I appreciate it. Thank you. yeah i just i wanted to raise i mean uh that race where monster mitch won and aruba arriba finished third with a little bit of issues that you cited eric that race has produced four next out winners so uh comes back as one of the um One of the better. local maiden events.
Speaker: And for for those who aren't familiar with Maryland racing and the maiden ranks, If you you look... it Perfect example, Aruba Reba.
Speaker: It was coming out at $35 ,000. claiming event. But... uh in maryland if you're a maryland bred you can enter uh these maiden claiming races and not be in for the tag.
Speaker: So it's a way of um Uh, I guess, protecting them. But as I say that, shouldn't it? Also say, um like...
Speaker: unfortunately i'm a brisnet guy it doesn't say like an n meaning not in for the tag Does it say that in... not The W is for waved. Oh, okay. and And it does show that in... The the DRF, okay.
Speaker: Another reason you guys haven't. Gone to the dark side. But then again, there is no DRF formulator for BrizNet, and that's where I'm also...
Speaker: um handicapped in that. in that sense but okay so uh you guys ready to move on to the third leg Sure. Okay. All right. So ah third leg. of The late pick five of Maryland million day at Laurel Park on Saturday is race 10 It's a moment.
Speaker: Eighth. turf event it is the maryland million turf stakes for three -year -olds and upward 15 have entered. though a max of 14.
Speaker: will go gateward. ah The horse that's on the AE hard spun reason. ah will need seven scratches to draw in, and ah we don't see that happening, which is unfortunate for a hard -spun reason because...
Speaker: I was given a 5 to 1 morning line. I'd be super loud. Yeah, so, uh... What we're looking at is a Four to five morning line favorite, the number seven, Thundering, which is music to a mutual friend of Eric's and I's.
Speaker: uh because uh but he uh is friends with the trainer derek ryan of Bookumdano fame. and He plans on being there Saturday and jumping in the winner's circle if Thundering can.
Speaker: Good night. Come home the winner. ah Frank, your opinion on the Maryland Million Turf? um So this is a race. I'm... Probably going to be inclined to...
Speaker: ah use a couple and not just Thundering. Thundering is a horse I think a lot of people are going to single. and With good reason. I mean, he's won. He won the uh japan racing association turf cup over the strip three back then he was Pretty good third is the United Nations behind program trading. And that's a great two. And then he won the find, which is a state restricted race.
Speaker: I mean, his but his speed figures are right there, the distance no problem. I think, you know, kind of all good things about this horse. He's been off a couple months, but that's probably nothing to worry about.
Speaker: Having said all that. Uh -uh. I will talk about the classic in a minute. I think I'm more going to be more inclined to single there than I am here. I want to play around a little bit with a couple of horses. I kind of like Magical Mondays a little bit if I can find them. You know, you just finished.
Speaker: Finish third in the Lewis at Delaware behind understudy kitty understudy kitty sort of freakishly loves the Delaware surface the turf course there. It's like five for six or something.
Speaker: and ah You know, this horse ran I thought a pretty good race and first time after. you know had been away a couple of months and He's got a little bit of talent. He's not a killer, but he's got a little bit of talent. He could you move forward. I also like to see Jorge Ruiz take the mount. Ruiz, very, very good turf rider. um So I find that horse a little interesting. and um The other one i I find a little interesting.
Speaker: And this this one's bombs away. Wicked prankster. Wow. Two -time winner of this race for Sammy Davis. Was away for two years.
Speaker: He came back. put them in a race. It was, it scratched onto the, it came off onto the dirt. Not so much. Then he ran in the fight and he ran third behind Thundering. And again, his first turf start in two years, ran pretty good in an allowance at Delaware over soft turf. Delaware is a little bit of a funky surface. The turf, not everybody gets over it very well. The horse that...
Speaker: beat him that day i am i said is a two -time winner over the strip for miguel clement you know kind of kind of intended to be something a little more. And then his form gets dirtied up with another stinker on the dirt.
Speaker: Got a decent work out of it. I don't know. i think it's not out of the realm that this horse could get back to his better turf efforts and Hey, I apologize for a little technical difficulty there. If I edit this well, it went from Frank talking just to me right there.
Speaker: We had a little glitch in our system here, but we are back. uh we were talking about reese 10 at laurel which you probably know because for you guys listening it was just two seconds ago but for us it was about 10 minutes ago uh frank was talking about the 11 weekend prankster.
Speaker: saying how he's been impressed since the horse has come back with his two turf races. So, Frank, you want to just pick up last thoughts on Wicked Prankster and anywhere you want to go from there. Yeah, I mean, I just I think this horse has run okay races since he came back. And, i you know, I don't know that he's capable of it. But if he is capable of taking another step forward.
Speaker: back to where he used to be. that might be good enough to get the money here um and at 30 to 1 i'm probably going to be inclined to have a couple bucks that says he can't I think ah the reality is is because Eric found out Frank was a Rangers fan, he sabotaged this particular episode. I can't blame him.
Speaker: Alright. So, um Eric, ah Frank likes which Wicked Prankster along with the the three. Magical. Mondays. 15 to 1, 30 to 1. You have...
Speaker: One, how did you already go out and... look at the morning lines in the interim. so i don't have to clear you in on forces you like and No, not anymore. We're beyond that. okay so apparently In Maryland, they do the morning line for Saturday before Friday, so it's really off.
Speaker: Well, saying you know, you you were like talking and you you said, well, if I edit this right, it's like no difference for you. It's just we're like in a time machine here. Saturday comes before Friday. You know, gaps in time. It's all good.
Speaker: Yeah. So anyway, yeah, not Thundering looks, I mean, listen, he looks like he's going to be tough here. Towers over the field. I'm not a huge speed figure person per se, but towers over over this field, Matt. Class -wise, I mean, the whole nine yards when he ran in a similar race.
Speaker: at colonial last time he kind of dominated the race i mean he had a good trip but he did it easily Probably a little tougher field here with more horses, but you know it still looks tough. So I don't know how much I want to try and beat the seven.
Speaker: Thundering. But the good thing is if you can beat them, you're going to make a lot of money. But I'm already trying to beat two favorites, so I think that's enough so far. uh so i probably won't try and beat him a couple other horses just so that interests me that I might. be interested in betting here.
Speaker: The sixth source I kind of like a little bit, and that's Hank's Divining Rod. I think I said that right. Yeah, it's confusing when it's one word. uh this horse for is that half walters or am i making that up it's henry walters Henry Wallace. Henry.
Speaker: Was there a half Walters or am I totally making that name up? I think you're making it up. Is there a half someone in Maryland? it would No, years ago, there were Happy Alter happy al was a Florida trainer. oh Am I confusing them? im I like the word completing. I heard it for the first time five years ago, and now I've heard it. like every week from people. So I'm conflating the two. um But anyway. Getting back to this, so we're not here for three hours. thank god Thank God you teach history, not English. There you go.
Speaker: So Hank's Divining Rod, I thought ran pretty well in an allowance race last time. uh did save ground but was really moving well late best of all and i i just think there's a lot of speed in here like i didn't think the 11 wicked prankster would be 30 to one like the morning line says but he'll be a double digit odds oh yeah i like that horse and i wouldn't talk anyone off that horse definitely a 30 to one right and close my only concern why i didn't put that horse higher is because i just think there's some peace in here And I think that can benefit the six.
Speaker: to where he didn't really get much of a pace last time i think he can here so i think the horse has ah a decent shot so six Hank Savani right again. You got to beat Thundering. and the other uh two words that interest me a little bit were the Two, I guess, is the second choice, apparently. Which I agree with. you know maybe a little higher than five to one but maybe five to one uh that's motion source Alican, who also can benefit from a hot pace.
Speaker: um Had a good trip last time, but I'm assuming running against tougher at Kentucky Downs. uh in the allowance rate so i kind of I think that horse has a decent shot here. Don't love, but definitely think that's a decent shot. And Horsu.
Speaker: I thought it would be about 10 to 1, but apparently it's 30 to 1. So now I have to bet it's the 5 Zevon or Zevon. Zen. Close to saying it right. Zevon. Warren Zevon, Werewolf of London.
Speaker: Oh, I'm thinking Zeevon likes money, Elton John. Vivan. Baby. Vivan, you know Vivan? Yeah. all right i don't know i don't know i thought it was leaving i know that's one leave on Yeah, Zeevon. All right, anyway. ah First time Elton John's ever been mentioned in a horse racing podcast. Broke ah history there. So...
Speaker: yeah Anyway, what do I like about the horse? I don't know. I'm looking. Two back at Laurel. in that race i thought kind of made an early 3y move uh into the race so i upgraded that race a lot and probably would have liked this horse last time maybe i even met him last time i i don't remember october 2nd But I would have liked the last race to be a little better. Speed figure was okay compared to these other than the seven thundering.
Speaker: uh Probably would have liked to see him win the race, no major excuse, but didn't run badly to come in second by a neck or third by a neck, whatever that is, second by a neck. So I think this horse has a little bit of a shot, and I've been told by someone in Maryland that Special K, Horacio Carmanos, is ah the master of the turf. so That's just more reason to like this horse, assuming he's still riding. so Yeah, those those are the horses. Other than Thundering, I'm kind of like two, five, six would be my other horses.
Speaker: ah that I'd want to use here. and You know, as far as betting the race, I just have to decide what I want to do with Thundering. Part of it will be his price. If he's two to five, maybe I'll just take a swing against him. If he's more like even money, I probably wouldn't.
Speaker: uh but those are the words i'd use i could put thundering over those three horses and triples and exactives and maybe even a super. um You know, I could box it too. If I'm betting that, I'd probably box it just in case a 30 -1 comes in first. I don't want to get nothing. But those those are the words I'm playing around with here.
Speaker: Sorry, I talked a lot. go ahead No, that's all right. Since you already mentioned the horse, I was looking at the two Alican. I mean, if you wish to...
Speaker: Draw a line through that last one at Kentucky Downs and then three back at Saratoga because... None of the other horses in this race have... dare to compete at Kentucky Downs or Saratoga. And we know Kentucky Downs.
Speaker: Everybody flocks to run there because of the purses are insane. and ah the horses. And this is a three -year -old who's just started to. face older, And... The horse has never been out of the exact in three tries on the turf at Laurel. so Um, I think she fits well or he fits well. And unfortunately, five to one is probably all you're going to get. and That's recent Frank you guys this though. I'm curious
Speaker: I'm not trying to talk you off that horse. i'm I'm curious to hear your response. Yes, horse. ran at Kentucky Downs. And I think no matter where you go after Kentucky Downs, you just draw a line through the race at Kentucky Downs because it's irrelevant to every other track in America. um And ran okay at Saratoga.
Speaker: But. Has lost the first level allowance at Colonial, at Delaware, at Laurel. at Tampa Bay True. I mean, there are horses, Wicked Prankster being one, Thundering obviously.
Speaker: it Thundering is obviously the best horse in this field, but there are horses that are more accomplished than this horse. at much more attractive odds. What are you guys seeing that makes you think you want to jump him up?
Speaker: You want me to answer or you want to answer GQ? no no you you got an answer no but i frank valid point because yeah Horse is eligible and has never beaten winners. It's eligible for non -winners to others.
Speaker: Like you said, there's plenty of more horses in here well accomplished, but good, Eric. you Well, first of all, I thought I was getting more than 5 -1 on the horse. At 5 -1, I'm not sure I might agree with Frank. ah But secondly, if I was to answer about that.
Speaker: I mean, his last race, like you said, Kentucky Downs, I can kind of draw a line through. And he ran as well as any of these other than Thundering anyway. uh the race before it was also a long race race for that a mile and a quarter came in second in clinton race before that a mile and a half in saratoga I mean, if you go back to four back at Delaware, ju June The last time he ran at a distance like this, and it was a mile and 16, so a little shorter.
Speaker: uh but ah you know shorter than a mile and a quarter of mile and a half I thought he ran pretty well, even though he only got third. He had to come from way back. It wasn't much pace in the race. early and they finished fairly quickly. So I thought that race was better than it looks. And that was back in June.
Speaker: you know it's a three -year -old compared to these a lot of these older horses who aren't necessarily getting better they're either trying to maintain their form or find their form So I just think there's upside with the horse as well. so you know If it's like eight to one, I like the horse. Five to one, I'm not sure how much I like it, but that's my logic. A little more upside. and you know going back to the More similar distance, a little shorter. I thought he didn't run that bad.
Speaker: I don't know if that makes sense, but that's what I'm looking at. I just was curious to hear you say it. I think ah a sneaky one in here, go all the way to the outside to 13.
Speaker: Kings River is 30 -1 morning line, one for one at the distance. Uh, and Again, needs a little pace. is goingnna to hopefully be coming in from the clouds.
Speaker: And. He's one of those horses, seven -time winner. Five -year -old's been... Been around the track more than a few times. so there yeah there's definitely prices to be had and Probably we could look at all of them and find an excuse why.
Speaker: They might want to be on your ticket or two. so With that, we'll move on to the fourth leg, which is race three, the feature race, the Maryland Million Classic.
Speaker: Going one. mile and one eighth on the dirt field of uh or 11 have entered, but only eight qualify because the other three are Maryland breds on the AE.
Speaker: um If one scratches, only one, which would be the nine derbyness, could draw in. um But we have a... prohibitive morning line favorite.
Speaker: rightfully so in my mind, the two horse. barbadian runner the defending champ and recent millionaire in earnings is two to five morning line ah Frank, you kind of alluded to earlier, this is where you're going to land on.
Speaker: The free space, hopefully, in the pick five. Yeah, I mean... Barbadian Runner, let me say this. One... He's a cool story.
Speaker: You know, he's... ah I'm laughing at Eric wrestling his cat there to get to his pee -pees. You know, it's a cool story. He's the son of Barbados. He cost $5 ,000 as a yearling. He's now over $1 .1 million.
Speaker: Trainer Henry Walters didn't literally went 20 years between stakes wins until this horse came along. the, uh, The owner, Scott Groh, who's A .J. Wilwyn Stables, they've you know they've been they've had horses with Henry for years. They've had horses here and there, usually you know fairly modest kind of horses. And then this guy jumps up out of nowhere, and he's just like...
Speaker: he's kind of to me like the prototypical maryland horse like he's not nothing flashy about his breeding but he's honest. and He tries hard. and He always runs his race. he's just Just a really cool horse.
Speaker: He loves this distance. He's five for seven. at it you know last year last year he had to take on post time who was one to nine multiple graded winner Looks him in the eye, says, I don't think so, not today. Wins the race. um
Speaker: And, you know, this year he keeps running into you look his first start back. He gets beat. They are just absolutely crawling, going seven furlongs. They've tried to beat him that way a couple of different times, including a deputed testimony that when he got beat in the Yorktown, that's a very slow fraction for for colonial downs going a mile in an eighth. I mean, basically, when he's gotten beat the one race, he got beat.
Speaker: where they did. absolutely walk was the Charlestown Classic, and he was just getting beat up in that race. He he had a really rough trip. I... There are some horses I'll play with as, you know, maybe underneath or maybe in a double just for fun.
Speaker: In a pick five, I'm singling here, and if he gets beat, he gets beat. but It would for him to get beat, I think, needs a race that none of these other horses have shown they have.
Speaker: Fair enough. Yeah and Real quick, Frank. i Along this journey with this horse, what What makes him different in... Henry ah Walters eyes of all the horses that he's had before. I mean,
Speaker: Again, like you said, I mean not Not out of the greatest of sires, but yet this horse just has heart. be ah and and talent beyond.
Speaker: is... lineage and bloodlines yeah no it's uh you know talking with henry like sort of through it like At each step, he was kind of like, well, you know, this is probably as far as he wants to go. You know, seven, eight's probably going to be about it. Well, a mile, well we'll try it. and You know, it's kind of like the.
Speaker: If you talk to people who have won like the local three -year -old stakes, like the, you know, the Miraclewood.
Speaker: private terms and the TASIA. they kind of say it all takes on a logic of its own. And by the time you did get there, then you have to go to the Preakness. And with this horse, it kind of kept taking on a logic of its own, like, okay, well you won this race. So you got to go to the next race. You got to go to the next race. And then, you know, Henry said he felt like, and it's funny. Cause you, you. you wouldn't necessarily pick this up You know, he won the Jersey Derby, which was off the turf.
Speaker: Three horses. And Henry said that was really the race for him, where he really like kind of turned a corner. and um Yeah. i You know, everything he does is really beyond what his bloodlines say he can do, but he keeps doing it. And, you know, Henry's done a good job with him. He's had him ready every time. and You know.
Speaker: Talk about underrated. Forrest's voice is so good. and ah You know, one of the things Scott Groh told me is that, like, when Forrest walks into the paddock and um
Speaker: uh the horse sees her like he gets like ready to roll oh wow he knows it's uh game time yeah and so yeah it's just such a cool story and i i don't know i mean he's just one of those horses he just outruns his bloodlines um all the time and That's awesome. Yeah, it's just cool stuff.
Speaker: So, Eric, did you find any of the competition worth? the Um... playing against this heavy favorite. Yeah, I mean, I always almost always try to be a favorite. Although I feel on our show the last few weeks I haven't. but ah I have no desire to spend money trying to beat Barbavian Runner, so I'm probably not going to spend money. I'll probably single him and...
Speaker: make it almost like a pick four here you have big enough fields in the other races that it can still pay especially if i can beat uh that nine horse in race nine the second leg and maybe meet that favor in the first leg. So it can still pay.
Speaker: a decent amount i mean if you get thundering in barbarian runner i don't know maybe it won't pay that much but you know we'll see what happens uh the other hordes i would consider or bet underneath maybe Usually when I'm betting a race, let's...
Speaker: Let me back up. If I like the favorite, Then I... hopefully don't like the second favorite, and I bet against that horse. I don't know if there's a clear second favorite in this race. um but i'm assuming it's the one who's i think second on the morning line and that's market maven who I can see how you people can argue, hey, if you're going to upset Barbadian Run, let's go with this horse because of high speed figures. But I would bet against the one if I was betting this race.
Speaker: uh in this case is a second favorite uh the horse ran you know pretty well chew back to close into ah a fairly slow pace it's got shuffled some on the second turn That was September 18th at Parks. And the last time the one market maven had an easy lead, got the job done, ran well. so The last two reads have been pretty solid, but...
Speaker: I can't take this horse ah as a second choice and Barbadian runner, so I'm going to bet the race. I just can't bet that horse as well. The mile on and an eighth is. pushing it for us for this horse. I 044 at the distance.
Speaker: Only one second. It's not like it was against the toughest horse in the world. So I'm hoping the distance is a little farther. It seems like there could be speed. You got a bunch of sprinters stretching out. I mean, the four Omar coming, who doesn't show a lot of speed, is a sprinter. But then you got the outside horse. The Eight Wicked Divine.
Speaker: who is a sprinter who has some speed stretching out. So she'll show us speed there. And the sixth, Davy Jones. ah for robin graham should show a lot of speed so perhaps We can get a little bit of a pace development here.
Speaker: Fine. i don't know ness has two horses maybe the one horse kind of I don't know if he's fast enough, Mark, and maybe he can push the pace a little bit. and i like ness's other horse a little better in this spot and that's the five in the dance Who are you?
Speaker: Nets claim Chewback at Delaware. Ran last time October 10th in Delaware. And ah there's two speeds to the... ah favorites doled on the lead but I use the term doled loosely they were barely moving.
Speaker: That was no duel. Yeah, exactly. We're like neck and neck. But I put dueling quotes on my paper to show that, yeah, two words were going. neck and neck, but they weren't going fast. So the point is he was able to close a little bit into it and really didn't have much of a chance to close into it. so I feel maybe he ran a little better for Ness off the claim. and i'd I don't know. You guys would know this better, but maybe Nets claim this horse thinking of this day. so you know,
Speaker: Jamie Rodriguez aboard. i kind of like the five here and the seven is the other one i would use uh sacred thunder who for Gary Capilano, who last race got bumped back at the start and speed really held in that race. I'm not good with like the...
Speaker: class of these races tough for me to judge what races are more classy than others in these fields here it's not like a allowance 1x 2x things like that that are a little easier uh so Maybe he was just running against a weaker field. I'm sure it was weaker than Bobravian.
Speaker: Is, but... The seventh sacred thunder. closing if there is a pace i think as a shot so i would probably do the two over the five seven here uh maybe i would do like a dollar or two five seven exacto box just in case it came in i would hate not to have it but that that's kind of all i'm looking at probably just single the two in the uh All right. I got a stat for you here on Jamie Ness, because I...
Speaker: Like you, I think it's Barbadian and everybody else. A horse that I'd be looking at a little bit is in the dance. Um, one Two interesting things about this horse. One, um Puts up Jamie Rodriguez, his go -to rider. So that's obviously.
Speaker: a good sign Two. I looked this up Jamie Ness second start off the claim. an ungraded stakes company. Seven starts, seven in the money.
Speaker: Can't do much better than that. now No wins, but seven in the seven in the money. Put them underneath. That works. all right with that being said we'll move on to the last leg Last race on Saturday at Maryland Million Day.
Speaker: It's a starter handicap. Going seven furlongs for fillies and mares, three -year -olds and up. who've started for claiming price of $12 ,500 or less, hence the name Starter Handicap 12 ,005. 15 have entered. Only 14 will go.
Speaker: ah The morning line favorite is the number six horse. On a proud note, 7 -2 morning line. so Appears there are prices to be had.
Speaker: ah Frank? Would say you. I say that I expect on a... um On a proud note, to go off at less than 7 -2. Okay.
Speaker: starting measure. um And... Look, he probably should win. She she probably should win. I might take a little. see if I could knock her out though I I'm a little interested ah heading in the direction of the outside. I don't have numbers, so.
Speaker: I can't tell you what number, but... Pretty far out there is... Lady Zeta, who... 13. Yeah, first off, the claim for Bruce Kravitz.
Speaker: Had been, you know, ran okay in 12 .5, company last out. ah You know, it runs a bunch of good races, always in the money. 60 career starts and the money 35 times. So that all seemed.
Speaker: Okay to me. I like to see Paco gets up on this horse and Paco doesn't ride much for Bruce Kravitz. So that seems Seems like kind of a positive sign ah there as well.
Speaker: So, you know, maybe take a little shot with that horse. It was one other. I think I like the look Yes, picnic is okay. I'm not quite sure what number That's like probably the four, maybe, for Jamie Ness. Yes, Picnic is the four, yes. Yeah, arrives on a...
Speaker: Two race win streak and one and off the turf allowance. Delaware last time out. So certainly is in good form. Plenty of speed, too. Good. Eric?
Speaker: ah Well, the first thing I was, as you guys were talking, I was listening, but I was writing down the morning lines here. I, I either, I was drunk or the morning line maker was drunk when they came to the point once. Yeah. Cause mine are a lot different for the most part.
Speaker: ah But anyway. The four yes picnic. I actually like this horse. A decent amount here. Um, i had I actually had 7 -2 on the horse, so 4 -1 I'll take.
Speaker: if that's what it is. ah but Last race, as Frank said, went up the turf. but i was I was really impressed with that race It was in a three -way duel. with the 23 to one shot who who came in fourth, but, you know, faded a decent amount.
Speaker: ah Three -to -one shot would fade into seven. So I thought there was a pretty strong pace there that favored closers. you know she was able to hold on anyway so three -year -old improving perhaps i kind of like that horse a ah good amount here you know, the question is you want four to one, seven to two on that horse. That's the only thing holding me back. And I don't have a major knock on proud note who Frank also mentioned.
Speaker: the main speed of the race. I mean, the The two things that make me pause though would be the layoff and the seven furlongs. And to me, that's enough. That's why I didn't think Proud Note would be the favorite person. I know you said you think shorter. you You know better than me. Trust me. Cause you know, this worse I just, I think people are.
Speaker: I think the betters out in simulcast land are going to look and see 77, 70, 70, 73, and every ah other horses in the fifties and occasionally sixties.
Speaker: And they're going to go, that's my horse. And they're not going to worry too much about seven eights. Yeah, well, I hope that's the case because I'm i'm going to bet against this horse, the six. Again, yeah, could the horse win, of course. But like I said, between the layoffs, the extra ah you know furlong there, I just need some people to step up and go with that horse. And the three last gift has some speed, maybe the 13 you mentioned.
Speaker: Lady Zeta has a little speed. not Neither one are like burners, but they can go. So that's something that I hope happens because I'm going to try and beat the six here. And I have a few others I want to talk about real quickly. But can I ask you a question, either one of you?
Speaker: Am I dreaming? What did I miss on the 14 that he's she's 5 -1? Am I way off? Because I might be.
Speaker: ah The 14 -5. That's married to the game or something like that, Frank. I know you said you didn't have numbers. mate Yeah, married to the game, yeah. is that horse gonna be a a close third choice i mean maybe it is maybe she is i don't know but I heard much higher.
Speaker: what What did you make so who who did you make the favorite? I had the four horse, seven to two, yes picnic, and I had the six horse proud. On a proud note, four to one. Okay.
Speaker: And then I guess my third. Third choice. Would be the... This is where I'm off, but I'm happy to be off. I had last gift at about five or six to one. uh the three horse and they have our 12th one so i like that horse a lot at that price ah But those were the... the That was the third choice. Then Lady Zed, I had it six to one. So kind of close third choice there with three. So basically I had four and then six right next to each other. And then I had three and 13 kind of you know with each other.
Speaker: In the morning light. Again, I'm... Could be way off. Who knows? I tend to agree. I think... Uh... I... I certainly wouldn't take 5 -1 unmarried to the game. And I would.
Speaker: I would guess she'll probably go off higher.
Speaker: She certainly needs this. She needs to run better than she has so far. Yeah. So anyway, yeah, I don't want to, you know, especially cause I think the horse would be a little bit of a price. I don't want to talk people off, but so.
Speaker: I like the four here. I like the three last gift I mentioned, especially 12 to one. Now I'm thinking maybe I should make her my key horse if she's that high. ah She ran really well last time.
Speaker: I didn't think when I looked at the last gift that I would like this horse. I'm like, ah, four furlongs at Charlestown. and I don't care about those races and all. And this is seven furlongs, but then last race. I mean, she ran down a loose 9 -5 shot, and and I thought just...
Speaker: Sides are up great in Reno. Awesome race. Now, gotta go 7 furlongs here, but I don't see, I mean... The difference between her and The Six is...
Speaker: The six, I'm getting a really short price on assuming she, you know, guessing if she can get the seven, the three, I'm getting a good price on to see if she can get the seven. So if the three is like eight to one or higher, then I'll definitely be using the three here. Go ahead. What were we you gonna say, Frank? No, no, your point, ah um I'm agreeing with you. Okay, that's good because usually GQ's on and I get no one to agree with me, so thank you. That's terrible. No good. But anyway, so those are... So I like the four. I like the three. There's a bunch of others that I kind of like, but I really think I'm just going to go.
Speaker: with my top two there in the pick five. So I think I'm just going to try and end 3 -4. in this race and i'm probably singling barbarian uh runner is that his name did i make it up barbarian runner i said no you didn't that's his name Oh good.
Speaker: Because I feel like an idiot. I'm doing a Maryland show and I got the name wrong almost. So I'm really thin at the end of this thing. And I was kind of spreading in the beginning to try and beat some favorites. uh that's what i'm looking at here but yeah i'm mostly 4 -3 uh I went on for a long time, so if you want me to say same anything else, I can, but I'll throw it back to you guys if you want to talk about anyone else when it's 12.
Speaker: Uh, I don't. um But I'll give Frank the the floor to mention anything about the betting menu or anything else. or what the racing biz is going to be doing for maryland million anything in particular or what the Maryland Jockey Club.
Speaker: I know they have a... Handicapping contest, I think, on one site that they're doing. do Does the Racing Biz have a ah contest this weekend? We are.
