Goals from Diogo Jota on 29 minutes Trent Alexander-Arnold who skippered the team today on the stroke of half time with a sumptuous strike from outside the area. Jayden Dans came on as a second half substitute to make it 3-0 on 76 minutes and Federico Chiesa who came on at the start of the second half made it 4-0 with ah another really good strike from outside the area.

Kiesa was on the bench, a good workout for the Reds, we were able to rest plenty of players The likes of Van Dyck, Canate, Gravenberg, McAllister and that front three of Salah Diaz and Gackpo have racked up a lot of appearances so far this season. Most of them played on ah Wednesday night in that Carabao Cup defeat against Spurs. So really important for those players to get some rest as the fixture schedule is just relentless in this part of the season.

And it all starts on Tuesday night in what has become a massive game in the Premier League that a wave fixture against Nottingham Forest. So lots of positives for Liverpool to take away from this game apart from progressing into the next round of another competition still fighting on all fronts.

Trent Alexander Arnold, captain of the team today. Apparently that's what he wants um in terms of his contract negotiations, if all those reports are to be believed. Had a good game, um scored a typical Trent Alexander Arnold goal, which is ridiculous to say when you think about it because it was such a great goal, but that's what he does. He doesn't score average goals. They're all worldies.

um interesting to see in the post-match interview with Arnie Slott, which you can also get here on the Daily Liverpool Podcast. Slott was really defending um Trent, especially after the criticism criticism that he got after the ah United game, where he had a poor game, but Slott has really gone out of his way to um defend his captain for today.

So let's hope that um that game against United for Trent was a one-off. The other positive was Wotaro Endo ah playing at centre back. I know that we've we've got to preface any of this praise by reminding ourselves that the opposition are 19th place in league two.

But look, you know you can only play against what's in front of you, and you can only be judged by those performances. And Endo just did a professional, no-nonsense job as usual. So credit to him. I think Kwanzaa had a decent game, but I think he needs that experienced head next to him. Normally it's Van Dyck, but Endo filled that role admirably today as well.

really good to see Federico Chiesa on the pitch. He came on at the start of the second half. um You know, we were all expecting him to start or at least hoping that he would start. But slot post match said that Chiesa had been ill for the last few days. So good that he recovered um sufficiently enough to ah make a start in the second half.

And it's really important that he gets minutes to build that strength to last the 90 minutes. um It was a good run out for him today. He was lively he hit the post once and then right at the death he gets his goal a really good strike from outside the area low hard curling away from the keeper.

And I think that 45 minutes and that goal will do him the world of good. He could be a very, very big player for us in this second half of the season, particularly, I think, in the Champions League. He's an experienced international. He's played in the Champions League. He's won major honours.

So that competition won't faze him and it's ah it's a huge bonus for us to be able to rely on players like him once you start getting into the business end of the season. um Slot played quite a few of the youngsters today um and I think they all performed really well. um The manager also praised the mentality shown by all the academy players, so a real compliment to the academy. Tyler Morton looks very composed, very capable in the middle of the park.

um The only concern is, I mean, how he's ever going to get a game ah consistently when you have the likes of Graham and Burke, McAllister, Jones, Sibozle, Elliott, all ahead of him.

I don't know, it may be time for him um to go out on loan, but it means that these cup games then have to be played by some of those senior players, which is probably not ideal given the number of games in four competitions that we have to face. James McConnell, again, was very good in the middle of the park when he came on, as did ah Jayden Dans. Again, getting on the score sheet,

very busy, full of energy and in the rap right place at the right time to get his goal. But the standout for me was Rio Goma at just 16 years old. The youngest player to play for Liverpool in an FA Cup tie. What a prospect. um Didn't look fazed. Had the confidence to hold onto the ball. um Was always looking to beat his man, which he did on more than a few occasions. So really good debut for him.

um On the other hand, um that man Darwin Nunes. He's such an enigma, um again, full of energy, willing, running, chasing, harrying. You cannot fault him on that, but just not convincing in front of goal. One chance in particular in the first half, he's eight yards out, hoists the ball over the bar. Robbie Fowler was very forth forthright in his opinions today, and I have to say, I agree with him.

um he's He's got to do better with those kinds of chances. He seems to snatch at those chances and really give the keeper an easy out because you're not working him. Not forcing him to save your shot when you just hoof the ball over the bar um from that distance.

It's clear that he's lacking in confidence I do think that at the end of the season if there is no Marked improvement that Liverpool will or at least should try to offload him and get someone in who has a more he Who is a more right reliable goal threat? I was hoping that that man would be Omar by mush In the Bundesliga playing for Frankfurt, but it looks like the Egyptian is on his way to Manchester City um

So he he does look like he's lacking ah confidence. He's snatching at chances. And as I said, I mentioned ah Robbie Fowler. um he I thought he was really clear in his criticisms today. I think that um he was absolutely spot on when he said that so he was countering the argument um made by a lot of people that Nunez ah does work really hard and that he puts in a shift for Liverpool, you can't afford his commitment and Robbie Fowler just said well look that is a prerequisite for a footballer.

You don't pay 70, 75 million pounds um for a striker that just works hard. um He's got to put the ball in the back of the net and he's got to be ah more of a goal threat and producing more consistently um if he's going to stay at Liverpool and really contribute to this team.

Um, Harvey Elliott, I thought was also very good. It was good to see Elliott starting speculation was starting to build that the likes of Borussia Dortmund were monitoring his situation and the lack of, um, game time. And you can see why, I mean, Harvey Elliott, I think he's, uh, just an outstanding talent. He's only, he's still only 21 years old, which I think a lot of us do forget because he's played quite a few games for us, but he's still a very, very young player.

And I think there's more of him to come. he's His progress has been curtailed a lot by um some injuries and he's he's just failed to get that run in the team. um So this was a good performance for him. I think it's really important for him to get those minutes under his belt. So lots of positives for Liverpool.

um Finally, credit to Acros and Stanley. ah They didn't concede early, which can always open the floodgates. They looked disciplined, committed, had a few situations, one in particular in the first half, which ah they might have done better with. A couple of set pieces were quite dangerous.

But, you know, they're a league two outfit and they did as well as could be expected. So I'm sure, um you know, they had a great day out for those players and the fans who made their way to Anfield.
