Speaker: With a desktop and a monitor. It's like a LAN party. It actually is. That's actually exactly what it looks like.
Speaker: that's um sure That's pretty sweet. For the neighbor was like, what the fuck? either don't worry aren Don't worry, guys. I'm just jacking off over here.
Speaker: It's like that guy is either doing a LAN party or podcast. Either way, I don't know which one is better to... Yeah, which one is the worst?
Speaker: God, I hope it's not a podcast. Oh, shit. There's a microphone. Oh, God. Yo, speaking of which, shit, we do a podcast?
Speaker: Um, yeah, I kind of forgot about it to be honest, but other than, you know, keeping in touch with people, it does suck though. Cause like ah when is the last one, like February, March?
Speaker: It's been quite a bit. Yeah. That sucks. Uh, yeah, no, it's been a bummer. And i think, you know, honestly, it's not just you. We've both had ah busiest lives. so Wow.
Speaker: How'd that happen? But ah it's it's really cool to have the time to do this right now. Yeah, for sure. And
Speaker: I'm excited because think, yeah, I think we can get the groove back. I'm and going to take advantage of the last couple of outside days possible because I love doing this outside.
Speaker: There's no, well, I have a screen, but it's literally on a chair six feet to the right. Six feet to the right of me just propped up on an angle just to make sure that this, you know, the screen is working, but, or like the clicks are, I'm on the right page, but I'm just looking at stars right now.
Speaker: That sounds awesome. So I'm kind of ah pacing around my ah apartment. The way I usually do when I'm on the phone.
Speaker: That's a way. Actually, you know what? I think standing and recording is the optimal way to do it. That's how, that's how I did it for the first, like, I don't know, year was just standing in a little kitchenette in a tiny, that tiny studio. And I think it's better, honestly. Like if you're standing, like you're just like, you're on your phone, your brain is active.
Speaker: and And I've got a Zinn. So, like, oh I'm going to be firing on all cylinders. Perfect. Except for the two that the weed affected.
Speaker: That's neither here nor there.
Speaker: So, um well, there's a couple options we could go with right here. We could go talk about the rides that closed and the rides that are going to open. Or we could talk about trip reports.
Speaker: Because we both got one. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, let's do... i don't know. Like, couple minutes each. We can just go around.
Speaker: i were You did... That's You're in Florida for Disney. No, Anaheim. Oh, okay. And I know you went up with the Coaster Cuzzies crew to celebrate Logan.
Speaker: Congrats, buddy. I wish I could have been there.
Speaker: Sorry, I could not make it, but I, it seemed like you guys had a fantastic time. So why don't you tell me and us about it? Yeah, it was actually pretty, it was, it was really cool because it's a place that um I always sort of thought back on as one of the craziest coaster trip milestones I've ever done mainly just because of the insane drive. um And like when we were like, well back in the forum days, I mean, even, i don't know. i kind of think back on like theme park review forums. There was what maybe if that like one ever photo trip report of the West Edmonton mall, it was kind of a place that no one really
Speaker: had been before and there was really no pictures or video documented. So going there was kind of like one of the most, um kind of like one of the coolest things you could do in North America.
Speaker: and I haven't, you know, been in a long, long time. So it's like they go back. It was equally as like, holy shit, a lot of time has passed.
Speaker: but also like really fun to be able to kind of relive that. It was very sad walking into galaxy land and not seeing mind bender though. Um, yeah, i bet that was a mind fuck.
Speaker: And then you see this like new Vekoma and you're like, Oh, this normally on its own would be super cool. But because it's not a mind bender, it's like, it's, it it'll be fine. You know? um everything was pretty much the same. A lot of the ride flat rides were gone. Like my, my favorite flat ride was gone.
Speaker: um and yeah, so coaster wise, it was, you know, um, honestly the coaster part was probably the shortest part of the whole weekend.
Speaker: Um, so yeah. So just go run through a quick, basically we did like a mall just hung out at a couple of like the bars and restaurants. Um, we went up to a CFL game, which were the, already forget the team, Elks, Elks and, shit.
Speaker: I forgot which one Logan is a fan of, honestly. going to get... Anyway, it was it was fun, though. I'm not a football guy. I had fun. That sounds awesome. It's also like I love going to sporting events in cities that you don't live in.
Speaker: Oh, fuck yeah, dude. Sporting events are awesome even if you don't know what the sport is or how it's played. Yeah. And this is a smaller this is a smaller league, too, so you get to like...
Speaker: I don't know. Everyone's just everyone is like very good vibes, like just bumping into random people. It was it was really fun. ah Dude, it's always like, you know, the the atmosphere is always fun and lively and can be electric.
Speaker: And, you know, you have a beer, you have a ah a hot dog or some nachos. You watch professional athletes. Good times. We were all yeah we were all popping edibles, too. Yeah.
Speaker: on a very smoky day. So it was like choking smoke, edibles, football. And then we went back to the mall and hung out in one of the suites that they booked.
Speaker: um This one was, it was like tiki themed. So it had like a hot tub in the room with ah with like porn so with like porn mirrors in in the jacuzzi tub. Okay. so So the room themes, they don't hide the whole like kind of seediness of them because there's a Hollywood room that has a literal stripper pole in it.
Speaker: So there's like all these all these different themed rooms. And then on the last day, they booked one as a surprise, which is the, um i think it's like a pirate. It's like a pirate theme. But it has a window that overlooks the water park inside the room, which is pretty cool. Hell yeah.
Speaker: And it's got this boat bed. and there's like a replica, like a giant real size life wooden replica of like it was I think it's supposed to be a pirate from like Johnny Depp inspired look.
Speaker: share for sure So it is, it was like crazy from like just a room theming hotel kind of standpoint. Um, so yeah, then we did the water park wait and we got a cabana, which is pretty cool.
Speaker: Um, Their slides kicked my ass though. So all their slides are very old. i don't remember when they were built either. think they were built in the eighties if I remember correctly.
Speaker: So they the all of the seams of the slides are taped and they had to be like, and like, you know, they're waxing. And this was like, you know, any other waters, like all the water slides that they had like this in the US, they took out at least 10 years ago.
Speaker: um Because the shit is intense. If you arch your back, right. And you're going fast enough, you can actually like flip in a couple of moments. Holy shit. Like, you know, like, um you know, like or or RCT, if you got like too fast of a bobsled, it's just, it's like the the, when you hit the timing of like, you bang to the right and then you bang to the left and then you drop and then your whole body just kind of like tumbles.
Speaker: ah So couple of us had some wipeouts and then they had these speed okay so They had these speed slides there, and I got injured on them. um So it's like a triple down.
Speaker: So it's like a straight section, steep drop, straight section, steep drop, straight section, steep drop. And you literally get airtime on these. Oh, God, that's alarming.
Speaker: Yeah, so... And we're talking, like, if if I had to rank the steepness of the drops, this was... like the steep drop and wild like the wild mouse steep drop in roller coaster tycoon you know what what i'm talking about oh wait but like the straight two steep yeah yeah oh oh as the first as the first drop right it's not that high it's but it's steep it's a very sharp angle um
Speaker: So I was like, oh, dude, these are the ones they had at Cedar Point. i was like, hell yeah, I'm so excited. you know i'm like I was like really excited to ride it because they got rid of those long time ago in Soak City. And we used to like do ride nights. We'd get drunk. We would like flip around, go ahead first. Like I felt very, i guess, confident in these slides.
Speaker: And then literally everyone was like, make sure you sit down, do not launch yourself. I would not, you know, try to get go as fast as you can. Like these slides will fuck you up.
Speaker: And I was like, okay. Like, so of course I like grabbed the bar and I just launched myself as fast as I could. um yeah arch the shoulder arch the back shoulder the blades heels and i go off the first the first steep drop and it's literally like my body is horizontal and i clear the whole radius of the drop and just land flat on like the bottom like the you know the bottom of the next part of the slide like full horizontal force down and my chest cracked um
Speaker: fuck and I hit my neck I fucked up i I fractured my sternum which I'm still like recovering from holy shit series wow it was bad like to the point where like I got air plus you get air time in two additional spots so like I get you hit a hit and I'm like what the fuck happened and then you get hit again and then you get hit again and then of course you hit a deep pool So I like stand up and like, mine I couldn't really like stand up straight.
Speaker: My neck was in, in pain. And I was like, fuck dude. Like I'm like fucked up. Like I'm like in pain and I, this is really weird. I don't know what to do Um, so I kind of just pushed through it and then had a couple of beers in the cabana.
Speaker: um, I pushed myself to do the drop slide with the loop. And then that was the last side I did for the day. um The next day or last day, my last day was the theme park with the neck and back injury, of course, and the chest injury.
Speaker: So the first thing I did was ride the super janky Gerstlauer custom spinning coaster, which has like not quite coat hanger transitions, but as close as you can get.
Speaker: and the whole time I'm just like screaming in pain. Yeah. I want to circle back.
Speaker: You pressured your sternum. Yeah. Yeah. so the whole next day I just kept, I was like awkwardly like stretching like the whole net. Like i was just doing like downward dog. I was just, you know, like,
Speaker: I felt like one of those douchey like muscle bros just like stretching all day. But like, I was just trying to, you know, stay normal. Yeah. Like, so are you okay now? you said you're still recovering and you like, so you good dude? Like, yeah, I had to tell a tele visit with a doctor.
Speaker: Basically it was just like, um, Yeah. Like your sternum is probably fractured, but you know, going on the checklist, it's like, okay, no shortness of breath.
Speaker: Um, no bruising, no tingly fingertips, right? Like no breathing pain. Like there's nothing you can really do. um Like I could have obviously went into an actual doctor if i was experiencing extreme pain, but, um, I didn't do that.
Speaker: Um, yeah, it's fine now. It's just pain. Like, like doing pushups and stuff. Um, but it's, it's better. Like I, the first like two days or worse was actually on the fucking plane ride on the way home in a United economy seat.
Speaker: That was actually probably the most painful part of the whole experience. Um,
Speaker: But yeah all good. So yeah, it's just listen to your peers when you're about to ride Nessie's Revenge for the first time because that slide will ah it'll fuck you up.
Speaker: Yeah, I was going to say I guess we're not going to do any meetups at water parks. that's flip That's off the table. I will say, i do recommend, like, if you're into slides, I don't... <unk>m I'm assuming this park will probably keep their slides for a while.
Speaker: But, yeah, if you love just, like, vintage, if you love... if you want a wrist breaking your sternum on the mat slide...
Speaker: yeah I mean if you want to like, yeah, if you if you're like into like 80s water parks and slides, because it was like a very specific era of water parks. So um you get to relive it there and it's pretty cool.
Speaker: It's also just huge. The wave pool is huge. It's such a cool facility. Someone shit. And when we were there in the pool, not one of art not one not someone in our party, at least that we know of. Yeah.
Speaker: no one and At least no one admitted it. um Yeah. Goliath. Yeah, maybe it was... He did disappear for a minute.
Speaker: ah um And it was cool. we So, yeah, Lance and Goliath and I, we stayed in an Airbnb that was like Dude, it wasn't even a block.
Speaker: It was like four houses and then a street crossing to get to the mall. um So that was pretty cool. And then inside of the mall, there's a dispensary in the mall. There's liquor stores in the mall.
Speaker: Oh, shit. Yeah, there's... And actually, you know what? I don't know... okay so my only dispensary Canada experience was Vancouver.
Speaker: and I was like really bummed out by how bad of an experience it was. um Because when I did it in 20... When was it? was like...
Speaker: twenty nineteen yeah twenty nineteen in vancouver it was like You walk into this like sterile like room that used to be a law office, and then it was like, okay, you have the sativa. This is a sativa, and this is an indica.
Speaker: And all you could buy were like two different sizes. there were no like There was no branding. it was literally like it had the, um would like the like what do you call it?
Speaker: The long name, like the biological name of of the strain. that's like sativa it was literally like on printed like a fucking uh like a prescription label it's like and it was so weird and um and the weed sucked and i was like okay i guess this is like this legal weed in canada but then going to that dispensary in edmonton it was like all this all the brands that you got here um you could they now have up there so um yeah it was cool um
Speaker: And I think, I actually don't remember, I'm pretty sure they sold flour. I think we just didn't buy flour. But you could everything. ah Actually, I don't know about concentrates, but cartridges, edibles, you know, all your normal stuff was there. so Yeah, that sounds dope as hell.
Speaker: And it was cheap, too. I was expecting it to be expensive because it's Canada, but it actually wasn't that bad. Nice. Nice. Well, I'm glad you're good.
Speaker: um Huge congratulations to Logan. um Much love to everybody that was on that trip. I wish I could have been with y'all.
Speaker: Just unfortunately, the timing and everything didn't quite work. I was trying at the last minute, but it wasn't quite within reach. i mean it's definitely not easy to get to It's like...
Speaker: I think, um, actually, I think, no, I think Lance, no, Lance had to go to Toronto to fly to Edmonton. And I think everyone else went into Calgary and then drove,
Speaker: um
Speaker: Oh, you know what? It was really cool going there because that's like Lance's... That's basically like are Logan's home park. So to like... You know like when you know like whenever you'd have people from out of town going to Great America for the first time and you kind of like give the tour of Great America, it's like...
Speaker: that you know and like telling all the secrets or you know whatever little details about the park right it was just funny because like that's where logan grew up going so it was like fun to have that like uh what do call that like home park experience at the mall so and just in the water park and stuff and it's a cool place that's gotta be fun i love going to parks for like a visit with people that are like really familiar with them yeah it's it's a fun experience because yeah you kind of get the the tour like you said so yeah that's that's dope
Speaker: And I think the last piece of the coaster was installed when we were there or the day after we left. or it was pretty I think it was around that time. The new coaster looks pretty cool. um Definitely not living up to Mindbender, but it it looks cool like on its own.
Speaker: It's basically, a it's like it it has two modes. So it launches at half speed. And it's a family coaster and then it launches at full speed and then it's the thrill coaster.
Speaker: Okay. So it has green track and orange track. And then the green track is like the family section where it just goes halfway and shuttles. And then, um in the thrill mode, it goes into a different circuit first. Like it's a loop.
Speaker: So yeah, when it's in thrill or family mode, it only goes halfway up the loop, then it goes backwards. In thrill mode, it goes all the way around the loop. Okay. And then you basically, when you get to the family, the green section, in thrill mode, you're going through that like full speed. So it's a bunch of um like quick bank turns and small bunny hills that you'll be like flying through on the second half. So it looks, it's pretty cool how they did it it's It's got three inversions, two inversions.
Speaker: um So yeah, it looks cool. I'm glad it's not just like a Eurofighter. They did something custom. Yeah, I think I saw some of the pictures. Maybe they were posted on Discord or something.
Speaker: And it looks... like it really is made for the space. So that's pretty cool. And like the explanation makes it sound like it's pretty cool. I assume that they'll announce what the operations are. Like it'll be like daytime for family mode. And after a certain time of day, throw mode or how they'll do it.
Speaker: I think, I think it has a dual station. oh okay. So yeah, I'll have two queue lines then that's, that's cool. I think. I could be wrong on that, but I think that it's going to have two different trains. So it'll have the over-the-shoulder trains and then like their family coaster trains.
Speaker: um Like for their shuttle coasters. um i think. I could be wrong on that. I'm pretty sure that's what I saw. And the real ERT, like the real, like sought after ride is going to be riding the thrill mode with the, with the family trains.
Speaker: ah Yeah. Like if there's like, Oh, the green train for the green track or whatever. ah
Speaker: But it's after writing sirens i'm after writing Siren's Curse and just knowing how those new Vekomas are, i'm I'm pretty excited for it Now the challenge is when the fuck am I going to get back up there? i've I'd love to, but again, it's like, you know.
Speaker: um We'll see. it it definitely i definitely think it'd be fun to get a group up there and do that again, especially in like the dead of winter when it's 20 below out there. That'd be fun.
Speaker: Could be. I feel like the travel would be a much trickier too. Well, sure. Yeah. But once you're there, you don't have to leave. Just hang out in the mall, lock yourself in. Yeah, that would be fun.
Speaker: I mean, more like the flights and stuff. ah Yeah. But that also sounds like it would be a good time. So perhaps... That's something we'll try to arrange in the future.
Speaker: That could be fun as hell.
Speaker: Uh... Well... We went to D23. That was our big trip. Yeah, and when was Uh... ah Like last weekend, not this past one, but the one before. so Okay, nice. The 13th, 14th, 15th, something like that.
Speaker: It was a lot. Very exhausting. Because it's basically, it's just like a Disney convention. Yeah. so um I'll just talk about the stuff we did.
Speaker: yeah. yeah So for panels at the convention center, we went to a Simpsons one. It was cool. They screened an episode that will be coming out later.
Speaker: um
Speaker: We went to the Bluey movie panel. That was really interesting. The Bluey creator is a really fascinating guy, Joe Brum. We got a free poster from the Bluey panel. That was cool.
Speaker: And then in terms of show floor experiences, we met Bluey and Bingo. Got to take a picture with them, which is very cool, admittedly, as a Bluey fan. Um...
Speaker: um We saw the there was a working model of Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean made of Lego that had like water in it with the boats running.
Speaker: Oh, nice. And all the animatronics worked and everything. It was super cool. Yeah. um
Speaker: Really, that like oh there were some props on display from the Muppets. We saw Kermit from the Muppet show and the banjo from the Muppet movie, the original one that Kermit plays the rainbow connection on.
Speaker: Very cool. And, uh, the Stadler and Waldorf heads from the ship of Muppets treasure Island.
Speaker: And then of course there was a bunch of shopping. Didn't partake in a ton. Um,
Speaker: Let's see. We went to... Because, like, here's... Well, let me talk about the shopping first. We went to the YenCid, or Y-N-S-D,
Speaker: which is a new clothing line by Imagineering, I think. We talked to somebody who was developing it.
Speaker: They had some interesting stuff. Um... pretty pricing as pricey as you would expect from like a
Speaker: upscale elevated Disney brand. So I didn't get anything personally.
Speaker: and other words is it like, how does, was so mean when you say shopping, is it like tables with merch or is it like a store?
Speaker: All right, let me, Let me get to that in one second, because the only other shopping experience we really did is the D23 Marketplace, the main one on the show floor.
Speaker: And um we got some of the icon plushies, including the exclusive D23 release castle before it sold out. So that was neat. And there was some great art in there.
Speaker: But other than that, not much that caught my eye. The plushies were, you know, my my wife likes them and my son likes them. So they're super cute, you know.
Speaker: So the way it works is the frustrating part.
Speaker: All of the official Disney shopping and the panels and like show floor experiences are all done through a reservation process.
Speaker: Well, the the panels and show floors are done through a reservation process that's randomized. So you can sign up for stuff and then they're like, here's a couple things, but some people got none.
Speaker: We did the stuff we got. um
Speaker: The shopping is done through a virtual queue, kind of like when they open a new ride at Disney, where you have to wake up early and sign up on your phone for a boarding group or a virtual queue to get a return time. And then you wait.
Speaker: So, like, show a floor opens at 9. You've got to be on your phone at 6 if you want to be in any of the shopping. Oh my God.
Speaker: yep So we had to wake up, which is fine. Right. My son wakes up early. So I'm used to that, but it's like a lot.
Speaker: and Just kind of trying to enjoy Disney fan stuff, right? Like,
Speaker: and that's why we didn't do a ton of it. Cause it's a lot less people. got into actual boarding groups. I think we ended up in a backup group, but it didn't matter at a certain point.
Speaker: And one of the limited items that my wife really wanted to get apparently was limited to 150 pieces total. So it sold out within hours of the show opening the first day.
Speaker: so like, I don't know. It was a it was cool though. Cause it was a Handbag made with um seatbelts from Soarin'.
Speaker: Oh, okay. Do you think... Are people, like, scalping stuff? Oh, yeah. The pins are crazy, dude.
Speaker: And, like, I'm not a pin person. My wife's not a pin person. We'll occasionally get pins if we're at a special event or something. But...
Speaker: We're not really big on that, so we didn't even try to mess with it. From what I was reading online, people were trying to sell the virtual boarding group, and they were being offered up to $5,000. Oh, damn.
Speaker: For just the boarding group. So I can't even imagine how lucrative... The pins must be. But it's very stressful if you're trying to buy stuff. If you're a pin person, Godspeed, I guess. um You know?
Speaker: um Bring your wallet.
Speaker: It's Disney. So on to overwhelmingly highlight. of the entire experience was, um, the entertainment panel on Friday was cool. There was showcase where they announced all the movies that are going to come out over the next two, three years.
Speaker: Um, nothing is super sticking out. There was some a good looking Pixar one, I think ghost kitchen that looked pretty cool, but you know,
Speaker: lot of sequels.
Speaker: But on to what the you know is really more pressing. It's the stuff we want to hear about the parks. The parks panel, I thought it was awesome. A lot of announcements that I thought were fantastic.
Speaker: um Of course, they were going to build on stuff from the last one.
Speaker: but filling in the gaps of not really announcing a ton of major new stuff with we're fixing a bunch of stuff you guys have been asking for for years was a really great choice in my opinion.
Speaker: Like, uh, like what? So they announced that they're going to fix the Yeti, um, expedition Everest. and hasn't that been broken for like a really long twenty years.
Speaker: Basically, it broke within, I think, about six months of when the ride originally opened.
Speaker: um Or maybe it was a year, but there was like a ah period there where like it would be B-mode sometimes.
Speaker: So like it's been a long time coming.
Speaker: They don't have a ton of details right now other than they confirmed they are not going to build a new Yeti in a different location. They're fixing the Yeti that exists in the spot it's in.
Speaker: Well, I mean, that's... mean, that's cool. I'm surprised it's been broken for 20 years. like can't be cheap, but...
Speaker: I guess what's the reasoning for not doing it?
Speaker: Probably.
Speaker: i think Joe Rohde explained it as like, it takes so many departments within, you know, essentially in a conglomerate to actually get a project done that doesn't have really measurable ah ROI. Yeah.
Speaker: Sure, yeah. Because that's the thing. A lot of people are pissed off about the announcements. And I'm like, dude, they're going spending money that has no ROI that you can calculate.
Speaker: Fixing a Yeti is not turning a turnstile.
Speaker: Yeah, that's true. But ah it does it impact... I always wonder about the stuff like that though. Cause I think it might have like one of those, um, like auxiliary downstream impacts on turnstiles. That's like, um, like they always say dragster didn't like dragster was like a terrible investment or it didn't, it didn't make its money back or whatever. But,
Speaker: In a weird way, how many people when you bring up Cedar Point bring up Dragster? Like that that brand recognition and that whole Travel Channel era of Cedar Point in the 2000s. Like, I don't know.
Speaker: So I think all that matters some in some way. You might not be able to chart it on like a, you know, ah marketing survey or study, but like it probably has some impact.
Speaker: Maybe. That's good. I think overall when um they announced they're bringing back Space Mountain Paris to its original form.
Speaker: Is it something different now? Is it frozen? No. ah Yeah, it's currently um not frozen. It's Star Wars. Okay. Wait, really? Yeah.
Speaker: um synergy question mark that's weird yeah um but yeah they're restoring it to I'm not going to try to say it in French even though I'm sure Dan would get a good laugh maybe I'll try because I can't i don't I didn't even write down the name I don't know it offhand and I'm not looking it up olah tear dello loon something like that there you go ha ha I don't speak French
Speaker: But yeah, that's it's super cool. um Another big one that they announced. They're going to fix Tomorrowland at Disneyland.
Speaker: What's broken on it?
Speaker: Everything other than the rides, basically. And some of the rides. Oh.
Speaker: So is it just roped off right now? Or what's the...
Speaker: No, but it's not... There's not really a cohesive theme. And there's a lot of buildings that don't currently have a real purpose.
Speaker: So it it's not befitting of the Tomorrowland moniker nor its place in Disneyland as it currently is. Yeah.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Cause there's no vision of tomorrow. Really? the theme is all kind of just vaguely like, Oh, it's space or it's a car ride or it's the submarines or it's pounds here in flock cameras.
Speaker: Yeah, right? That's the future that we want. um they they So they didn't say anything about the people mover, but I can't imagine that it makes it.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: um Unfortunately, but I will say
Speaker: You know, New Tomorrowland sans PeopleMover is better than Tomorrowland as is, possibly with PeopleMover restored. So, and I just can't imagine
Speaker: the PeopleMover making it as it stands. Maybe they'll build, like, maybe they'll, like, RMC the PeopleMover. I mean, I imagine there's better technology for a ride like that they could do.
Speaker: so like the the tracks all still exist, right? They all are standing there. The supports are all there. You know, they closed it in 95 to turn it into rocket rods, which failed.
Speaker: It opened in 2001. It failed. And then um it's been closed since I think 2002 three.
Speaker: It didn't make it long.
Speaker: And it's just been sitting there and the tracks go throughout the entire land.
Speaker: So maybe they'll let him see it. Yeah. I mean, if they haven't just ripped it out,
Speaker: I don't know. It just seems like you're, I don't know, like there would be a reason why they've kept it all this time, but yeah, well, they talked about more open spaces and that's the other thing I told you, there's a bunch of buildings that they're kind of not using.
Speaker: The people mover goes through every single one of them. Okay. Yeah. And I don't believe the people mover track as it is, is up to ADA standards.
Speaker: It was grandfathered in, but I think once they did the work to it to make it rocket rods, it'd have to meet some whole other safety standards. Now, I'm not an expert on all that, but that's just some stuff I've heard. Yeah.
Speaker: Interesting. So anyway, lot of people move for speculation. i think it's probably going, but excited about tomorrow land. Um, super pertinent to the roller coasters.
Speaker: They announced, uh, some details about a Spider-Man roller coaster going into, shit. I think it's Shanghai might've been Hong Kong.
Speaker: Is it a theme immersive coaster or is it a roller skater? I think it's going to be like outdoor looping coaster. the The trains in the illustration looks like... Oh, man.
Speaker: like a Like a... Fucking premiere.
Speaker: Skyrocket type of trains. But I don't think it's going to be a premiere, but it might be. But I doubt it. It's probably of a Vekoma, and the rendering was just a rendering, you know.
Speaker: But that said, they're marketing it as a thrill coaster, Spider-Bots, blah, blah, blah. So that should be cool. um Space Mountain in Tokyo. They built it down, or tore it down.
Speaker: The old one. They're building a brand new one that's going to be completely unique and different than any other Space Mountain.
Speaker: It'll have... It'll be an AI Space Mountain. Yes, exactly. Put on your VR goggles and put in your credit card. It's called Space Mountain Earthrise.
Speaker: There's some speculation it's going to be like Guardians of the Galaxy with the controlled spin cars. That was not confirmed. I saw the model of the train in the building.
Speaker: It kind of looked like maybe that but it didn't look exactly like the Guardians train. So unknown as of right now. Wouldn't be funny if it was like sponsored by SpaceX?

Speaker: um, I don't know. They could do something cute with that.

Speaker: Anyway, um fucking what was I thinking of? Oh, oh yeah. The the Monsters, Inc. door coaster coming to Hollywood Studios in Florida.
Speaker: That's pretty cool. It's got like rotating cars.
Speaker: That's a straddle coaster? It's a suspended coaster. And it's going to have a dual load station and the load track for the station is on a lift that goes 40 feet up.
Speaker: So you dispatch up at the top.
Speaker: And then I see, okay, you launch into like the door vault.
Speaker: Now, they announced that their they're going to open the rest of the land with Harryhausen's restaurant and a gift shop I can't remember the name of and um ah an animatronic show, which looks pretty cool.
Speaker: Everything except for the door coaster is opening in, i think they said early next year, spring next year. So I'd expect... The door coaster.
Speaker: To be coming.
Speaker: Late next year. or like. By end of
Speaker: just like I don't think they're going to want to. Have the phased opening take too long.
Speaker: I would expect to see a soft open before the holidays, maybe. But we'll see.
Speaker: And then they were talking about Villain's Land at the Magic Kingdom, which is going to have a Maleficent roller coaster.
Speaker: Is that a thrill... or I guess Wakand? So it looks like it's going to be a thrill coaster.
Speaker: ah You know, it's very much in the... based off of the model and the renderings, in the style of a mine train.
Speaker: Surprise, surprise. But it's it's going to be in Villain's Land, which is all a Dark Forest themed.
Speaker: And um it it's got some... pretty intricate looking rock work that it's going to be doing like some tight banked curves around.
Speaker: It looks very inspired by like the the first half of Maverick or Terran, but obviously a little more attuned to for like families.
Speaker: But they also teased That there's going to be... They're doing... ah ah first of its kind element for them.
Speaker: on that coaster. My guess, just right off the bat... Drop track. Yeah. um But... Hey.
Speaker: I think it'll be cool.
Speaker: They said that Villain's Land is also going to have a dark ride, which appears from the renderings to be the same type of ride vehicles and design as Spider-Man and Islands of Adventure, the scoop vehicles, the 3D blend of physical sets and props with screens, which love it.
Speaker: Great ride. Perfect. That's a perfect base. The theme of the ride is the magic mirror is summoning up all these villains. They showed in the artwork, I think, Jafar and Scar and Dr. Facilier and Ursula and might have been it.
Speaker: Maybe somebody else.
Speaker: Looks cool.
Speaker: Oh, and then they brought out Glenn Close as Cruella DeVille.
Speaker: and And they kind of like teased that there maybe is going to be a Cruella ride in the future.
Speaker: I forgot that was her. Yeah, dude, it was wild. they're like They're like, oh my God, Glenn Close. And like she's in the whole wig and everything. It's like, oh man, that's cool.
Speaker: And then she said like, She came out there and roasted this Imagineer. It was funny as hell. And then she was was digging into Maleficent.
Speaker: And then she's like, you guys better work on my ride. So they said it's going to open with two rides. But I think that's a that's like a planting the seed for several years from now.
Speaker: um That was all the coasters stuff they announced. But they have a Cars Land come into Magic Kingdom in Frontierland. The ride there looks pretty cool. It's based on, what do you call it, like off-roading?
Speaker: It sounds like it's going to feature some very airtime-like moments.
Speaker: Isn't that like their other one? um The other cars ride? No, it's a first of its kind ride system for Disney. Possibly anywhere, but definitely for Disney.
Speaker: They said it's designed to operate in the rain, which is a big issue for Test Track. Fortunately, don't really have too much of that issue with Radiator Springs Racers.
Speaker: So that looks fun. um Oh, shit. They're bringing back Journey into Imagination with Figment and Dream Finder.
Speaker: It's at Epcot.
Speaker: It's a dark ride. Okay. Okay. Yeah, um Dream Finder hasn't been there in years. Figment's a big character, so fans have been asking for it. That's another one of those things where it's it's super cool.
Speaker: ah Yeah, the Honda Center stuff was all cool. Then we went to Oogie Boogie Bash. That was fun. Didn't get to really see...
Speaker: Too much of it, unfortunately, just due to some some timing issues and stuff. But, you know, I did get to see Hades and Oogie Boogie and Judge Doom. And got some good candy and some good pictures and saw some awesome costumes and all that.
Speaker: What's the turnout of d twenty three They don't publicize it, but the the convention center is pretty full. Everything had a long line. ah Shouts to the to the homie in Orlando who um asked me to stop by the Roosevelt booth.
Speaker: I heard the line was about four hours long, so I just didn't even fuck with it, man. I'm sorry.
Speaker: you know You know who you are. Anyway. ah
Speaker: Yeah, everything was just kind of brutally long. and it Have you ever... It seems like...
Speaker: what's What's weird, too, is like...
Speaker: i I like... I mean, I enjoy Disney as an enthusiast. But, like, one thing that's weird... Like, okay, like, when you're talking about the pins and, like, the collectibles and, remember and like, remember when they did that Star Wars hotel and it was, like, five grand a night or whatever?
Speaker: Yeah. It's, like...
Speaker: i feel like they're just, like, fucking their consumers. Oh, yeah, totally. Like... and ah And it's, like... their whole system of making money and or like, you know, selling spots for five grand just for the virtual queue and like the limited edition of that.
Speaker: Well, true. But just like the, here's the thing though, right? Like, do you think Disney discourages that? Oh no, they could easily solve all that, but yeah it's part of the marketing and the appeal.
Speaker: Yeah. And yeah, you make a good point. And that's why it's kind of like, we just like going to the parks. We'll maybe get a little bit of merch if it's cool. But other than that, I don't know. I just dig the parks. But ah that seems like a ah good place. Because I, unfortunately, have to wrap this one off
