Hey, guys. Hey, guys. Happy Hump Day. Happy Wednesday. Welcome back this week. As you can see, my voice sounds a little bit better. i do just still have a like, I don't know, like something in throat here and there, but.
00:00:28
Speaker
Yeah, you can hear it just a little bit, but yeah, it sounds much better. Yeah. um We were all out late last night at the wedding. So, um yeah, that was a lot of fun seeing everybody in their costumes and cosplays and things like that.
00:00:45
Speaker
Yeah, it was it really fun. It was fun to see everybody. We do apologize. We were terrible at taking pictures together. So um we do have pictures of us separately, at least until the wedding pictures comes back.
00:00:58
Speaker
um We can post some of those too, but for now you'll have to have a picture of just me and Shelly because Shelly took a picture of us and then one of Heather by herself.
00:01:10
Speaker
my husband was taking pictures everybody. But Heather was like super busy running around everywhere, like helping with the music and stuff like that. so Yeah, I had to take pictures in the beginning and then I had to help with the music and then I had to make sure everybody was in the right spot. and Yeah. no It was just, you know, typical wedding stuff when your family's, I think, getting married, you know? I mean, I don't know. Every time I've had a wedding in the family, that's that's how I experience it. so Yeah.
00:01:40
Speaker
um Because I remember mom's wedding, it was just chaos. um For me, it I think it went smoothly. I just, I don't remember anything because I was so busy running around doing everything that wedding.
00:01:51
Speaker
So I don't remember much of it either, but I don't remember what I was doing for moms anyway. Yeah. i can't say on, the on here why I ended up doing everything. So yours is probably the same reason. and um But yeah, anything else new with you guys?
00:02:10
Speaker
Not really. i don't think so. I am probably the only one here. i love Christmas. I mean, you guys do too, but I'm probably out of the three of us, the only one that does not have their tree up yet. Wow. So yeah. I know i was telling Tony, I'm like, we got to pull the Christmas stuff out. I got half of my, like in storage in my garage and then half. Oh yeah. So that'll get done. Welcome to December.
00:02:38
Speaker
Yes. It's what, the 3rd when this comes out? so December 3rd. Yeah, I just need to get my house cleaned up from Thanksgiving and putting Christmas stuff up and so many people at the house. Yeah, this week was crazy.
00:02:54
Speaker
Between Bastion's birthday, Thanksgiving, and then the wedding, It was all exciting and fun, but I'm so glad it's over. but nick so that we just have a Christmas. Yeah.
00:03:07
Speaker
At least we have a little bla break before Christmas. But yeah. It's been a lot of fun. i think it was nice to end off that crazy week at the for the wedding because it was cool to see all our hard work paid off of all the cosplay stuff.
00:03:23
Speaker
Yep. So congratulations to my brother and his yes new wife, even though they've been together for 15 years. 15 years. but She's always been a part of the family, but now she's officially part of the family. They are now currently on their way to Japan for their... yeah honeymoon and Honeymoon. Hopefully they have fun.
00:03:43
Speaker
it's his in japan that's great His first flight too is an international flight to Japan. That's wild. No thanks.
00:03:51
Speaker
ah But yeah, i hope they have a blast. i'm i'm I'm certain that that's something they've wanted to do for a long time, so I'm glad they get to do it. Oh yeah. um But yeah, it was really cool. i I got tons of compliments and tons of questions about my cosplay. And so it was fun. Which we could probably post those pictures before this episode airs. So we'll make posts. I'll probably do that after we finish recording. And tomorrow. Yeah.
00:04:15
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. But yeah, you want to get into the episode then? Yeah, let's do it. So this week's episode. Yeah, I'm going to to say about it and then we'll get started. Go ahead.
00:04:29
Speaker
So this week's episode is, um i don't know what we're calling it. I guess, how average American are you? Or how American are you? Now, I know there's a lot of people that listen to this that are not from America, but that's not really what this is about. This is just statistic facts of what the average American does. So If someone visits America a lot, you could still play along with us. You know what i mean? Or even if you hardly visit America, you could see where you stand up against the average American. So um these are all just statistics. um
00:05:05
Speaker
And we're going to make it into a game and see how American are we. So we'll keep score. um And then I have a little scorecard at the end so we can see where you guys fall.
00:05:17
Speaker
so Are you going to score yourself too or no? Yeah. Yeah, I am. Okay. So let's get into it. All right. Three best friends twist and spin.
00:05:30
Speaker
Victoria, Heather, and Shelly let the fun begin. Stories to tell, laughs to ignite. It's a 28th angle shining bright. Every week a brand new game.
00:05:41
Speaker
Three voices, one wildfire.
00:05:55
Speaker
Okay, so first up, round one, is the food and drink category.
00:06:04
Speaker
So the average American drinks three cups of coffee per day. How many do you drink? Only one. i Only one, but a big cup. ah That probably has three or four in there.
00:06:21
Speaker
But it lasts all day. like this is my cup. I think it's not that Well, this is my cup. So. i would say that was like two, Shelly. Not really. But I don't have coffee every day. It's like, I don't know. I didn't have coffee yesterday.
00:06:39
Speaker
so i have at least one cup a day. i don't think I had. Yeah, I did. I had some yesterday because we stopped at Dunkin'. But um I only have one per day. So I definitely wouldn't fall under the average for that.
00:06:50
Speaker
Me neither. it i purposely only drink one a day. Yeah, me too. Sometimes when I was working at law firms that had really good coffee machines, I would have two, but but that wasn't all the time.
00:07:05
Speaker
And that's just because I had such good cappuccino. This coffee lasts me all day. Like I don't refill I know how you drink coffee all day. That is so gross. It keeps it hot.
00:07:17
Speaker
Well, I don't know. When I used to work at the nursing home, we I drank so much coffee. No, it does. It keeps it hot. Trust me. Not hot enough for me to drink it all day.
00:07:28
Speaker
All right. I still feel like it gets old. so Yeah, me too. Maybe that's it. Maybe not What? Oh, I thought you called me old. I said it gets old, the coffee.
00:07:39
Speaker
Oh, no, no, no. No, it starts to taste old. It does. um All right. So the next one, I wanted to break it down to a more readable statistic. but So the average American eats 46 slices of pizza a year.
00:07:57
Speaker
That's almost 23 pounds of pizza. Are you eating more or less than that? A year. That is how many a year? I'm going to give myself a point because I'm sure I eat at least that. we We eat a lot of pizza here.
00:08:12
Speaker
yeah so Do I get a point for the first one? don't think so. you stick under i don't If you just drink one of those, i would i would say that was two cups. Okay. Alright.
00:08:26
Speaker
Yeah, so I do eat average pizza. Yeah, I would say I do too. I blame Aaron, but I still say I do. 46 slices divided by what? 52 weeks in a year.
00:08:38
Speaker
was just trying to divide it out to weekly because that'd be the only way I could really calculate properly is 0.88. A bunch numbers, but so every two weeks, it's like one slice every two weeks or so.
00:08:52
Speaker
I probably definitely do that then. yeah Like, yeah I mean, some sometimes it's just frozen pizza, but I feel like it still counts. It's still pizza. It's still pizza. Yeah. So I'll give myself a point for that one.
00:09:08
Speaker
Okay. So fast food. The average American eats fast food one to three times a week. Do you beat the average? No, not me. I definitely am the average.
00:09:21
Speaker
I was going to say, I would say I'm at least the average. I probably do at least once a week. Yeah. I mean, there are weeks that I don't, but the weeks that I do it more probably make up for the weeks that I don't.
00:09:36
Speaker
I probably do at least once a week. um Obviously, now that I don't have a job, i've we haven't been, but I think I'm going to count for when I do have a job because that would be the average for me.
00:09:47
Speaker
yeah And I definitely do eat it at least time week. at least one time a week There'll be times we look back and it's like, dang, we eat out like three or four times this week. Next week to like we need to to make meals at home.
00:09:58
Speaker
Yeah, we do that too sometimes. For us, it's more like the weekend, you know? The weekend comes like, I just don't want to cook. I just got But that's fast food you're talking about, right? Right, yeah.
00:10:10
Speaker
I don't eat a lot of fast food, um but we do order out at least once a week, but not fast food places. I mean, what do you order then? I still feel like that counts. Yeah.
00:10:24
Speaker
Like Chili's or. But you're picking it up to eat it. think that counts. You're still eating out. Yeah. Okay. oh Yes. That still counts.
00:10:35
Speaker
Well, once a week then probably. So you're about average. So yes. average Give yourself a point. So it says about 37% of adults consume fast food on any given day.
00:10:47
Speaker
I believe that. Oh, that's kind of low actually to what I thought, but. So I know how, well, I know how both you guys are gonna answer this one, but the average American drinks only about four cups of plain water a day.
00:11:02
Speaker
Despite doctors saying we need way more. How hydrated are you? Or are you just running in caffeine? Pretty hydrated. Yeah.
00:11:12
Speaker
ah I drink. yeah and Would you say the average drinks what? or Four cups? Now, plain water. It can't be flavored or anything like that. Right. No, I don't like flavored water. I don't either. yeah My water's always plain.
00:11:25
Speaker
love plain water. This bottle that have is 32 ounces, right? And I probably fill it two, maybe three times, maybe two times a day. Maybe. so I have my bad days where I probably do fit into the four cups of plain water, but I feel like four cups of plain water is just like... Four ounces of water that one time?
00:11:46
Speaker
Yeah. I used to take my meds with. We used to have smart water cup bottles that we could see how much yeah each other drank. Oh yeah. They still have mine. I broke mine. So anyways, you could see how much each other drink if you share. And so there was like a week or two that Victoria had drank four ounces for the entire day. And we used to think about it. And then she came back and was like, yeah, that was probably just to take my medicine that morning. and you're like wow okay so I got so I'm like I'm not even kidding I would get so busy at work that I I don't even have time to drink water like those people are crazy because they think that I can just do way more I'm like I legit don't even have time to go to the bathroom i don't have time to drink water like I don't know how much more they thought I could fit in my day if I don't have time to take a drink of water what more can I add like legit I don't know
00:12:43
Speaker
They like think their techs are superhuman. I don't know. It's ridiculous. so um I guess because we all drink more. I'm not even going to count that because on the normal day, I definitely drink more than four cups of water.
00:12:56
Speaker
Oh, yeah. So I should give myself a point though, right? No, because you drink more than that. Oh, because it's more. The average American only drinks four cups. So if you drink anywhere close to four cups a day, then you could. But...
00:13:10
Speaker
I don't think any of us fit that. No. Yeah. All right. So groceries. The average American household spends about $270 per week on groceries.
00:13:23
Speaker
Is your bill higher or lower? Well, it's only me and my husband, so it's lower than that a week. I know I was kind of wondering what that what that's based off of, but it says for a single person, it's closer to $100 per week. So I guess for you, it would be about $200 per week. Yeah.
00:13:42
Speaker
ah e yeah yeah Maybe a little less. Little less than $200, yeah. Because it as we all know, groceries are really getting up there in price. so Yeah. And just to note, this was from, this is statistics from 2024 to 2025.
00:14:01
Speaker
So it might be a little lower than what it probably might be now. Yeah. um But that's exactly where I i fold, life I land. um We try to stick around $300 week. yeah.
00:14:15
Speaker
um But mind you, that's to feed five people. so i was to say, don't have a clue what I spend. i mean, that sounds terrible, but I say when I do my grocery order every week, it's probably less than that.
00:14:37
Speaker
I spend probably closer to $200 a week on my grocery order, but that doesn't count us like running to Walmart and grabbing stuff, running to Publix and grabbing stuff. Yeah, and never do that,
00:14:49
Speaker
Running to this store and grabbing stuff, and we do that throughout the week. Yeah, you guys are always at the store. They get bored at, like, midnight and go to the store. like yeah Yeah, it's true. We do.
00:15:02
Speaker
And then we end up spending, like, $100 there. Everyone's sleeping. Let's just go shopping. Let's go to Walmart. It's usually Taco Bell. am i That's why the kids pick lunch. Anytime we leave at night, Taco Bell is the only place open late at night.
00:15:18
Speaker
Taco Bell or Sonic. So anytime we leave, the kids are like, are you going to Taco Bell? Can you get us a Baja Blast? That's funny. like oh They learn. I don't know.
00:15:31
Speaker
probably So I don't get a point, right? No, I guess. Although your average for your households, I don't know. that's i had thought about that when I wrote that question down, but i don't know. We can go with no.
00:15:44
Speaker
Do I give myself a point? But I feel like you would get a point. My family is probably much bigger than with that average. The average. Exactly. so I feel like you would fall within the average. Although, Shelley, I feel like you would fall within the average if you calculate the $100 a week for a single person.
00:16:02
Speaker
Yeah, I do too. So. All right. So moving on to round two, I have three points for round one.
00:16:13
Speaker
Oh, I have three points as well. Me too. nice Oh, we're all, at we're all same boat here then. All right. Round two, the daily grind.
00:16:25
Speaker
So the average American has 27 minute one way commute to work. Is your drive worse? chilling smell kidding Way worse. Like, so bad.
00:16:39
Speaker
I just give up and stay home. I'm like, no. I'm not going in today. You know what? Screw work. Yeah, screw it. I'm just going to stay home, not drive.
00:16:50
Speaker
Mine is definitely way worse. Yeah. Mine would be triple that. No, double that on a hard day. Mine's not even double. Or easy day.
00:17:01
Speaker
It's about 43 minutes, to minutes. what mine is. Yeah, I don't think that counts then. It's even worse on the way home. yeah Yeah, mine that's mine was always like an hour on the way there, like an hour and five minutes.
00:17:19
Speaker
And on the way home, it's like an hour and a half. so So no points for any of us then. All right. So vacation. The average American employee gets 11 days of paid vacation.
00:17:32
Speaker
after one year of service. But here's the kicker. 47% of us don't use all our days. Do you use every single hour? Yes. Plus some.
00:17:43
Speaker
No. Well, I used all my PTO, but not my sick time, which at my employment counts as PTO. i like I don't care if I use my sick time or my PTO. It doesn't matter. 47% of them don't use all their days. Like, that's crazy.
00:18:01
Speaker
But I don't. I didn't use all my days. I know. I never have used all my days. He did take Christmas Eve off. so that But this is saying that the average American gets 11 days of paid vacation.
00:18:16
Speaker
how many like I only got 10. So I definitely fall within the the range that it's saying, but I 100% use all of my every single hour. ah I don't know what he got.
00:18:31
Speaker
No, I think I get 80. So 80 hours. So that would be two weeks. So 10 days. Oh, 10 days. So you got the same as me? I'm pretty sure Tony only gets 40 weeks. 40 weeks? 40 hours, you mean?
00:18:46
Speaker
I mean 40. 40 weeks. He gets 40 weeks. He takes the whole year 40 hours.
00:18:55
Speaker
He works one month and he's like, all right, done for the year. dead for the years I wish. Oh my gosh. Yeah, so I definitely i wouldn't fall within the average of that, I guess.
00:19:07
Speaker
So I guess I wouldn't either, but... Yeah, you would. You don't use it all. I was going to say, I guess maybe I would because I don't use it all. Yeah, if you don't use it all, I think you fall under it. I have like 30 hours left, I think.
00:19:22
Speaker
And there's only a month left of year. I'm going to start taking vacation. Okay. Today was my last day of vacation for the year. if I would have still been working.
00:19:34
Speaker
um Okay. so we don't have to answer this in detail, but the average American carries a credit card balance of $6,730. Are you doing better or worse than the average?
00:19:50
Speaker
Worse. Definitely doing worse. I mean, I give myself a point. So I guess that means we don't get a point. No, because that's not average. Do I get a point? Are you near that?
00:20:02
Speaker
No. Then I would say no. Like lower. If you're way under, then no. Okay. Yeah, no, I wouldn't. Okay. So savings. The median American bank account balance is roughly $8,000. Though for people under 35, it's closer to $5,000. Do you have more or less in the bank right now?
00:20:23
Speaker
Well, I don't have a job, so less. in savings or like in total? It says savings. It didn't say that in the statement, but the first part says savings. so Yeah, less than $8,000.
00:20:38
Speaker
in savings. thought you said $6,000. That would be nice. six thousand If you're under 35, it's $6,000. I'm not. I'm not either. though You're not under 35. I'm under.
00:20:49
Speaker
Well, wait. One of your kids told me I looked 29. I can't remember who it was. I was like, oh. I wasn't bad if could tell you that. My kids or hers? I don't know. I think Heather's. I was going to say, I don't think it it doesn't sound like either of my kids.
00:21:06
Speaker
Actually, no, I think it was Riley's boyfriend that said I was shocked. He was shocked to know what my age was. Yeah. He seemed really nice.
00:21:17
Speaker
Riley as well said the same thing. Okay, so did I get a point? No. No, because you're under. Man, I'm not doing good in round two. no points for that round. Yeah. Me neither. only got one.
00:21:28
Speaker
got one. All right, so round three. Digital Life and Habits. so So the average American household pays for four different streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, things like that.
00:21:43
Speaker
How many subscriptions are you currently mooching or paying for? yeah How many subscriptions are you currently mooching? Like the whole. um Everything.
00:21:56
Speaker
so four different streaming services. I don't. I don't pay for streaming services. only one. I'm under. I don't pay for any. We pay for one.
00:22:09
Speaker
One, two. But we used to pay two. I'm not, canceled everything, obviously, but quit my job, but. Oh, yeah, no, we are paying for two. Yeah. Does YouTube premium count? Because then it would be three. Oh, we pay for that, too.
00:22:23
Speaker
We don't pay for that. I feel like that would count. Either way, that would only be one for me. So it doesn't doesn't matter. right prime five Prime would count. yeah Prime counts.
00:22:35
Speaker
So yeah, we have Netflix. That would be four for me then. I mean, I don't currently, but I'm going to just count from when I actually, my normal everyday life. so I don't pay, I don't even watch Amazon Prime. Is what you mean? Yeah.
00:22:45
Speaker
Yeah. But if you pay for Prime, it's technically a streaming service. yeah I mean, I pay for Prime so I can get fast. Yeah. but That's why I pay for it too. So I don't, I wouldn't have even counted. I can either way. That's why I'm a lot. So I'm trying to remember if I pay for like paramount, paramount plus. Cause I think I did. In which case I would be four. i get Peacock for free through my Walmart plus subscription. So I guess if you want me to count that, that's three.
00:23:11
Speaker
So we don't count the ones we used to pay. Right. Like recently. Either way. I'm under. I'm good. I'm too. I'm going to give myself a point for that because I think i would be about four.
00:23:23
Speaker
So. All right. Social media. The average American spends two hours and 23 minutes on social media every single day. Is your screen time higher? Let's see what my screen time is.
00:23:37
Speaker
Two hours and 23 minutes.
00:23:41
Speaker
I don't know how to find that on my phone. yeah don't know if yours would tell you. does, but. Does Messenger count? Because if so, we're all screwed. Yeah, I think it does count. Yeah, because we have the most time in Messenger this morning. I have two hours and 58 minutes in Messenger last week.
00:24:00
Speaker
What's it under? 45 minutes on Facebook. Oh, ours is on the phone. Apple phone tells you. I mean, I know mine tells me too, but I just don't ever look at it. Total screen time last week was four hours and 26 minutes, but that's not all social media.
00:24:20
Speaker
I don't know. Where's the total screen time? Four hours and seven minutes last week. Where do you see that? oh double If you go to week, it says daily average, and then it's... Three hours and 55 minutes last week.
00:24:33
Speaker
Up 24%.
00:24:38
Speaker
Mine was down 61% from the week. It says every single day. Oh. Two hours and 23 minutes on social media every single day. No, it's an hour and a half. Let me look at yesterday. That seems a lot. Wait, I was busy this weekend. That doesn't matter.
00:24:52
Speaker
I'd have to look at a different day. Hold on. me figure out how to change the day. We spend a lot of time on chatting. That's hard. cause i was going to say, because we have to like do our work there, basically. You know what I mean? Like...
00:25:06
Speaker
Until we're together. Like that's how we plan our podcasting time. Events and stuff. Well, yeah, even like family events. I mean, the wedding. But still a day, two hours and 23 minutes a day.
00:25:21
Speaker
mean, I will say I'm probably close if you count like me laying in bed for an hour scrolling on TikTok. Yeah. should do that. Should I give myself point? I'm going to give myself a point.
00:25:33
Speaker
i'm gonna give with Every single day. Sometimes I feel like I don't touch my phone at all, man. But I'm going to give myself a point because but I probably still do it. i yeah I probably come close.
00:25:45
Speaker
I play a game of every night and I scroll through my face or I scroll on my phone every when I get up in the morning. The games don't count. It's just social social media.
00:25:57
Speaker
Yeah, I scroll on Facebook and TikTok and all that Well, not so much TikTok anymore. just I can't say yes or no for sure, but it's probably close. so um Bonus.
00:26:09
Speaker
Total daily screen time, phone plus computer plus TV, is over seven hours for the average American. Does it work count?
00:26:20
Speaker
ah I think, well... So I think work would not count if you didn't have anything else open but work stuff.
00:26:31
Speaker
But see, when I'm at work, I have a show on my phone. So to me, it would count. I have a TV in my office. Yeah. And if you have something on it, then that it counts.

You know what i mean? i mean, there are days, not to like call myself out or anything, but there are days where I will be on my computer playing a game all day, depending on how into it and the weekend comes, if I'm, like I have to be in the mood, because there's days I don't touch my computer, but like, yeah, when like a new game comes out that we all fall in love with, I mean, let's be honest, we spend 10 hours computer. playing that game together yeah um obviously that doesn't happen very often gamers that like we're gaming right yeah and we always have been and for us it's like a it brings our family together a lot you know what mean like for real like literally our entire family will be there on discord hanging out when it's a good game like i don't think we would be as close as all of us are if we weren't all playing games at some point together you know what i mean yeah yeah i agree
00:27:38
Speaker
I mean, we would we would probably, but not... and It's hard to say because we've always been like that. Yeah, I don't know. But I do, you know, there's times where I feel like Aaron doesn't always join us and then, you know, he does seem distant sometimes or, you know, like Wayne or Steven, know what I mean? Just people that don't join. It's not their type of game or whatever, you know?
00:27:57
Speaker
Yeah, maybe. so we're giving ourselves points? um Yeah, I had if I gave myself... Well, that's that was just a bonus. Oh, it's a bonus? yeah I gave bonus. One bonus point.
00:28:09
Speaker
My pen died. My pen Oh no. Your pen died. I guess I can get plus. One you did find. One pen out of all of my thousands of pens.
00:28:20
Speaker
Okay. So one in three Americans get Is this still round three? This is still round three. Okay. One in three Americans get less than seven hours of sleep per night.
00:28:32
Speaker
Are you part of the sleep-deprived 35%? Yes, I am. Yes, 100%. Give myself a point. Yep. I accidentally put four, so I guess I'm giving myself four points. No, I'm kidding.
00:28:45
Speaker
I usually get about six hours a night, really. Sometimes less, but... Yeah, I get about six. Actually, lately I've been getting about five to six hours a night. Solid. Like, I used to wake up a lot in the middle of the night.
00:29:00
Speaker
But, I don't know, ever since we got our new bed. Your watch should tell you how many hours. Yeah, it does. It's consistent with six. I don't wear my watch to bed. Really? Oh, I do. Yeah, I do too.
00:29:12
Speaker
So it never tells me because I never do. When do you guys charge it? don't, that's when I charge watch. I'll charge it if I'm sitting at my computer. was going to say I charge it when I'm sitting at my computer. I used to charge it at work, like when I was sitting at my desk at work, I would put it on charge right in the morning.
00:29:28
Speaker
If I'm not leaving the house and I know I'm going to be like at my computer, just charge it. Listen, I play Pikmin. only charge my watch if I'm sitting at my desk, so I'm not walking, okay?
00:29:41
Speaker
Because I need every step to count. Yeah, exactly. Catch my yeah because look at how many steps I had before I started wearing my watch. Like five steps because I never take my phone anywhere with me. Yeah, so definitely a point for me there.
00:30:00
Speaker
Pets. The average American household is most likely to have a dog. Nearly 50% of homes have one. Do you have a furry friend or are you bringing down the average? I am bringing down the average.
00:30:13
Speaker
I was thinking about dogs. I was going to say it says pets though. Like and you guys arebreak I don't think it's just dogs. I think it's just, it says pets. The category is pets. So I don't get a point.
00:30:25
Speaker
No, but I definitely, I guess I do. i was thinking about a bird. bird really? i Do I get a point? Cause I'm above average.
00:30:36
Speaker
and She's got like 6,000 cats. No, cause it doesn't say, it says, yeah, I think you get a point. Okay. Cause didn't really say like, if you have more than that, you know what i mean? Like, I don't know. Yeah.
00:30:50
Speaker
All right. So let's see how many categories we have left because we're running out of time here. Um,
00:30:59
Speaker
So I do think, okay, yeah, I'll do, we'll run through these quickly. All right. Cause I have a lot left actually. So, all right. State count. The average American, this is, I think a fun one, which is why I want to do this. This one might take some time. The average American has visited 16 States, not counting the one they live in.
00:31:17
Speaker
sick Are you well-traveled or stuck in a bubble? I'm stuck in a bubble, I guess. I think I'm well-traveled maybe. 16 States.
00:31:29
Speaker
Like drove through or just visited? Are we counting I have to do 60 things. I think visited. Yeah. I definitely don't have 60. Does it being in the airport count?
00:31:39
Speaker
Because I mean, I... but Come on.
00:31:45
Speaker
West Virginia, Ohio. So, West Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee.
00:31:51
Speaker
Massachusetts for you guys. New Hampshire. yeah Massachusetts. New Hampshire, Massachusetts. New York for Heather. New York, New Jersey.
00:32:03
Speaker
Now, it says not counting the state you lived in but I've visited Florida many times before i before I moved back. It's got to count, right? Yeah. Yeah, I would say so.
00:32:19
Speaker
Yeah, I'm only North Carolina, South Carolina. North Carolina. Georgia. Georgia. Kentucky for me. I'm only at 12. I'm at nine.
00:32:31
Speaker
So there might be a few more that I'm missing. I'm at 12. Obviously I'm not even close to 16, so I'm not giving myself a point. I'm not giving myself a point either. So bonus stat, 11% of Americans have never left the state they were born in.
00:32:47
Speaker
That's crazy. Could you imagine? That's insane. So I don't get a point then. I don't think I've. No, you're not average. No, for the state. I'm still on the state one.
00:32:59
Speaker
That's what I mean. We're all on the state one, Shelley. Where are you? What was the next question? There was no next question. question Okay. Yeah, I only have 10 that I can think of. Yeah, that's I'm sure there's a few more that I just can't think of, but I'm so i'm not close. I've visited more states than you guys.
00:33:19
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, I drove through a lot of states. Which is crazy. I've driven through a lot of states, yeah. Oh, me too. Okay. The average American drives roughly 13,000 miles per year.
00:33:33
Speaker
Yours faster? Your speedometer faster? or Your ommeter spinning faster than that? That's what it says. Mine is definitely, yeah. Oh no, that means it's not.
00:33:45
Speaker
Our vehicle has 30, no, we hit 40,000 miles. But her car is... It's 2018. 2018.
00:33:49
Speaker
but her daughter is is twenty eighteen Yeah. So it's insane. Yeah. They don't drive anywhere. No, they don't leave the house ever. Mine's more than that. So I'm not going to. Mine's more than that as well. So, yeah. Okay. This one's funny. So, and we can't, we can't really answer this one. So this is just a funny kind of statistic that I'm going to read.
00:34:10
Speaker
So if you went on vacation last year, there's a statistical probability you went to Florida. It is the number one domestic like destination for Americans. Did you visit the Sunshine State or did you go against the green? Well, we did go for a vacation. I was going to say, now, I don't know. I feel like we could count it, but I feel like it also doesn't count. It was in the upper part of Florida where we've never been. often go on vacation in Florida. Yeah. But we also live here. That's where go. it's also just close.
00:34:44
Speaker
So I feel like it can't count. You need to circle back to that statistic that Floridians only take vacations in Florida. yeah that's I should have looked that up actually too. That's funny. um Okay.
00:34:55
Speaker
So, and I know this is not true for any of us, but about 13% of Americans have never flown in an airplane. Have you ever kept your feet on the ground for your entire life? No. I know we've all been on on airplanes, so.
00:35:08
Speaker
Many times. Interesting. um Okay. About 48% of Americans have a valid passport. I do. Nope. But it's Canadian.
00:35:20
Speaker
business Still counts. Well, no. Would it count? It's still passport. was to say it's all the same, right? don I think it counts, yeah. um okay You get a point, Shelly.
00:35:33
Speaker
Most Americans have visited three or fewer foreign countries in their lifetime. visited one. Don't have a passport, so. Yeah. Can't go to a foreign country that I don't have. So I count. That gets a point.
00:35:45
Speaker
It says three or fewer. Three or fewer.
00:35:49
Speaker
don't know. What do you think? I don't know if zero is fewer. feel like it would count. You get a point. You've got one. yeah one I don't think it would count for us.
00:36:00
Speaker
You don't think so? Oh, okay. be Yeah, because it's not the statistic. Right. Because we haven't visited anywhere. Okay. Yeah, I get it. It'd be zero. Like, we're not even yeah part of it. We haven't left the country. Yeah. Period.
00:36:13
Speaker
Yeah. um The most common international destinations for Americans are Mexico and Canada. Have you been to our neighboring? Or do you skip things from Europe? Yes, I have.
00:36:24
Speaker
I have. Now guess which one I've been to. now I get a point. You get a point. right, round three.
00:36:37
Speaker
thought that was round three.
00:36:40
Speaker
Oh. So it was. i've i messed it up and started over, actually. so round We started over round one on Road Warrior. So round two was that one. Now we're doing the second round three. okay Okay.
00:36:53
Speaker
Keep up. All right. My points are all messed up. Okay. confused, but it's fine. My points are grouped together. The rounds don't matter. Yeah. um Okay.
00:37:05
Speaker
The average American plans to spend roughly $2,800 to $4,000 on their annual summer vacation. Does that sound cheap or would you need a loan? um i think that's about average for me. I mean...
00:37:20
Speaker
I feel like $2,800 is little high, but with a family of four or five, I mean, can't see spending any less than... guess I'll give myself point. $2,500 would be my... But I'm going count it because it's got to be close. I don't actually keep track of it. Because usually we book the hotel in advance. know what mean? I don't ever keep track of total how much we paid.
00:37:47
Speaker
Yeah. So... I don't know where I'm at. You guys don't ever go on vacation, so. Well, I mean, when we did go for our anniversary last year, i'm trying to think. We probably spent over $1,000 for sure.
00:38:04
Speaker
but it has to be close to $2,800. No. I mean, does it matter if you're like spending stuff at the theater park? Yeah, that counts. Anything you'd spend on your vacation. We could be at two grand. I mean, that would be tickets and all that for that.
00:38:19
Speaker
I mean, I know you guys have passes, but it's still. Well, pass alone. I'll just give myself a point. yeah When traveling, 58% of Americans still prefer hotels over Airbnbs or vacation rentals.
00:38:33
Speaker
Are you team hotel or team house?
00:38:38
Speaker
This really depends for me. Like, I really do like Airbnbs, but sometimes they're ridiculous and it's easier to go with a hotel. was going to say, if I have all of my kids with me, an Airbnb is just going to be easier. Even... Yeah.
00:38:52
Speaker
No matter what. And I think just that is how it works for us. Like, if it was just me and my kids, I mean, a hotel's fine. Yeah. But if it's yeah if, like, all of us are going, then, like, we might as well try and see if we can get an Airbnb. So...
00:39:05
Speaker
Yeah, when it's all of us we always do an Airbnb, right? Yeah, but I mean, even my me and just my family and just my kids, I have to do an Airbnb. If it's just me and Aaron or me, Aaron, and two kids, fine, but yeah we'll get a hotel. hotel so I think I'll give myself a point for that because I i guess I would be still prefer hotels.
00:39:29
Speaker
So we get a point because we're hotels? If you prefer hotels over Airbnbs, you get a point. I don't really care. give myself a point? um I wouldn't. No, because you guys mostly do Airbnbs, right?
00:39:43
Speaker
It's hard for you guys to do hotels. I'm saying the only reason we do hotels is if it's just me and Aaron. Just you and Aaron, yeah. No, i don't I don't think I would. Okay. The average American books their vacation three months in advance.
00:40:00
Speaker
I definitely would would fit that, I think. We always pick early. Sometimes we're very spontaneous and we're like, let's go there. What are you doing but point yeah At least three months usually.
00:40:14
Speaker
yeah We try. We try. Sometimes, you know, we're just, okay. I think that's the last one. There's a few more like gross ones I'm going to go over, um but we won't count them.
00:40:29
Speaker
So no points. No points. We're done with our points. so um So 6% of Americans believe they could beat a grizzly bear in an unarmed fist fight. 8% think they could beat a gorilla.
00:40:45
Speaker
um Chocolate milk, 7%, well, an innovation center for the U.S. Dairy Survey found that 7% of American adults believe chocolate milk comes from brown cows.
00:40:57
Speaker
but That's roughly 16 million people. Are these people from Florida, like Florida men? they might They probably are. um but So survey shows that roughly 40% of American adults admit to peeing in a swimming pool at least once as an adult.
00:41:17
Speaker
Nope. I've definitely peed in a pool at least once. I'm sure I have too. an adult? For sure. As an adult, yeah. 100%. hundred percent
00:41:27
Speaker
just kidding ah at your house in the pool you swam in probably that's why i know um no 75 of americans admit to using their phone while on the toilet i definitely do from time to time i don't depend i feel like i always forget my phone even I was just saying most of the time I probably i'm always that leave it on this by the sink because our bathroom is like in its own place. So I usually put my phone in my sink and then go to the bathroom. But there are times I have if I'm like playing a game or watching a show or something.
00:42:02
Speaker
I don't know if that counts, but I would assume 75% of Americans, though. Isn't that crazy? It's probably mostly men. Yeah, all the men. 75% of men. went without his home That's funny.
00:42:14
Speaker
um Okay. One block drive. About 50% of car trips in the U.S. are less than three miles long. ah massive A massive chunk of Americans admit they will drive to a store that is less than a five-minute walk away.
00:42:29
Speaker
All my drives are longer than three miles. We don't have anything less than that. I don't even have store closer that. I mean, I could walk to my store and we do drive to it, but 50%. fifty percent I mean, I go to the gas station once a week. I don't know. I don't think that counts.
00:42:44
Speaker
um Okay. I'm trying to get done by 45 minutes here. 65% of Americans believe that intelligent life exists on other planets and 51% believe in UFOs.
00:42:57
Speaker
Believe UFOs are likely alien spaceships, spacecrafts visiting Earth. Are you a believer or do you think we're alone? i don't think there's... I don't have an answer for that. i don't I don't know. It's hard to believe that there's not something out there. That's I mean. There's no way. As many worlds as there is, but... There's no way out of the mass universe that we're the only creatures.
00:43:23
Speaker
has to be something. I wouldn't say that I believe in aliens, but I wouldn't say I wouldn't. I don't either. i don't know. Yeah, know. That's how I I've never seen one. I'm in the middle. yeah Unless I've seen something with my own eyes, I'm not going to believe it. But that's just how I am with legit everything in life. Yeah.
00:43:42
Speaker
I'm neutral. um The average American eats roughly 40 to 42 pounds of cheese a year. i definitely probably do. o We eat a lot of cheese around this house. Yeah. I don't need that much juice. No, we probably do too.
00:43:56
Speaker
Okay, so here's our scores. So I have 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 plus one bonus.
00:44:07
Speaker
Yeah, so. I have 11 plus one, or I guess 10 plus one bonus then. I have 9 plus one bonus, so 10 total. So we all fall under the eight plus matches.
00:44:19
Speaker
So anything above eight, you're the ultimate American. So now just a heads up, this was just a AI made scoring point. So don't judge this harshly out there. Okay. It's just for fun. um But zero to three, you're barely an American.
00:44:41
Speaker
Four to seven, you're the standard American. And eight plus, you're the ultimate American. So. Wow. Look at this.
00:44:53
Speaker
And then some of the things I kind of ran into is like people from different countries talking about stuff for Americans. Like red solo cups are weird because they're not, they're only an American thing. really? sure that still is, but yeah, I didn't that. Bright yellow school buses.
00:45:07
Speaker
I guess people like come over to the U.S. and are like, oh yeah, a bright yellow school bus. I finally seen one because I guess it's talked about all the time. I don't know how true these are. These were like YouTube videos. But I know. I think these people were from like Europe or somewhere over on that side. So drive-thru banks, I guess, are also a very American thing. I'd say North America, Canada, and U.S. Yeah, probably. um And then prices being shown on menus without taxes is also an American thing.
00:45:43
Speaker
Or a North American thing. What color are their buses? I need somebody to tell me what color their buses are. What are your buses where you live? i did They did say it what color they were when I was watching that video, but I do not remember now. So so what color are your school buses, guys? Let us know if you're not in America.
00:46:00
Speaker
But yeah, that's going to be it for today. I only want a minute and 26, 7, 8. Over. um right Yeah, I guess we're all Americans. Yeah, was interesting. I thought it would be fun because it's, you know, a lot of statistics that we can, that are crazy and funny, but also...
00:46:22
Speaker
Turn it into a quiz. So, but yeah, that's going to be it for today. we appreciate you guys hanging out with us and listening in. Yeah. I hope you give her guys have a good day. Good Wednesday.
