Sticky Jazz Interview Kid Congo

If I were to pull magic out of a hat, and say "Who could tell the story from the underbelly of the L.A. Punk scene from it's inception, and tell it from the point of being queer and hispanic?" You would have Kid Congo Powers. He is an accidental guitarist, who became very successful because he did it just for fun. HE was a fashion fan, inspired by David Bowie, and Patti Smith, who just "Lived" the Los Angeles underground scene long enough to become inspired to start playing music. (By force, as told to start playing to stop annoying his friend Lydia Lunch for a while).

He played in "The Gun Club" , The Punk Rockabilly band "The Cramps", "Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds", and now his current project "The Pink Monkey Birds".

He just published his memoire "Some New Kind Of Kick" that is a fantastic read, it goes WAY TOO FAST at times, but packs a punch with experiences and great memories, strangely enough, I have had so many just like it, I was relating to his world time and time again.

He doesn't share scandal, or complain about anyone or anything, only the inspiring and full throttle experiences, and they keep coming.
