00:00:19
Speaker
I teach you to avoid the mistakes I made and bring in the top solar dogs of the industry to let you in on the secrets of generating more leads, falling up like a pro and closing more deals.

00:02:11
Speaker
But today we're jamming on automations.
Importance of Automation and CRM Tools
00:02:14
Speaker
Why are they important?
00:02:15
Speaker
And before we get into that, I wanted to give a quick thank you to our latest review on the podcast.
00:02:21
Speaker
We had, this was last Saturday, Joey5328.com.
00:02:28
Speaker
This podcast is solar gold.
00:02:30
Speaker
You need help or want to better yourself.
00:02:33
Speaker
Must give a follow.
00:02:38
Speaker
Always love hearing from our listeners.
00:02:40
Speaker
Always love getting these reviews and feedback.
00:02:43
Speaker
Not all of them are five stars and I appreciate that too.
00:02:46
Speaker
Okay, but you can shoot me a DM too.
00:02:48
Speaker
If you got a problem or something you don't like, you can shoot me a message saying, hey, your podcast is trash, Taylor, or whatever you want to say.
00:02:56
Speaker
Appreciate those comments and I'm trying to improve it day by day.
00:03:00
Speaker
So appreciate all the feedback that I've gotten from our listeners.
00:03:04
Speaker
Okay, so today we're talking about how you can automate more of your solar business.
00:03:09
Speaker
And I'm excited for next episode because you're going to hear from someone that I think has mastered automation in his business.
00:03:16
Speaker
His name is Mikey Lucas.
00:03:17
Speaker
He's been on the podcast before, but he has really figured out a way to automate so many things.
00:03:22
Speaker
Now he's doing primarily coaching, consulting, other sales organizations in solar.
00:03:29
Speaker
And he also does some like financial mastermind type things.
00:03:32
Speaker
But he has a software that he's using to help solar reps just automate more of their business.
00:03:40
Speaker
And it's go high level is the backbone for it.
00:03:44
Speaker
Some of you may have heard of that, but it's a CRM.
00:03:47
Speaker
It's a tool that you can use.
00:03:49
Speaker
You can set up to automate more of your business, to respond to customers, to organize your leads.
00:03:55
Speaker
But there's so many more things you can do with it.
00:03:57
Speaker
So I'm getting ahead of myself.
00:03:59
Speaker
We're going to be talking about that more in the next episode.
00:04:02
Speaker
But just talking with Mikey, it reminded me how important it is to automate as much as we can in
Delegation vs. Automation
00:04:08
Speaker
Okay, I've spoken to this point many times on the podcast, I might sound like a broken record to some of you, but more and more I see the top reps.
00:04:18
Speaker
They aren't the ones doing these sometimes menial tasks that I think a lot of us get caught up in.
00:04:25
Speaker
How much time are you spending on a day-to-day basis doing something that you could either delegate or automate?
00:04:30
Speaker
Okay, and there's two different things.
00:04:32
Speaker
We've talked about delegation already.
00:04:34
Speaker
I've said many times on the podcast that I have an assistant that helps me, you know, edit these shows, release them with who helps me on social media.
00:04:43
Speaker
A lot of things that simplify my life.
00:04:46
Speaker
Hey, shout out to Angelica.
00:04:47
Speaker
She's the one that's going to edit this podcast.
00:04:49
Speaker
But before you even get help, before you try to outsource things, think how could you potentially automate some things in your business?
00:04:58
Speaker
Hey, and I was just thinking before we started the show, sometimes what a lot of us are doing.
00:05:08
Speaker
Hey, but I just turned 30.
00:05:10
Speaker
But back when I was growing up, we had these Windows 98, maybe some of you remember them, these old Windows computers.
00:05:18
Speaker
And what would happen on these is if you opened up a different program, if you opened up multiple tabs, the thing would basically overload.
00:05:26
Speaker
It would stop loading things.
00:05:28
Speaker
It'd take forever.
00:05:29
Speaker
And we had like the dial up Internet.
00:05:31
Speaker
So that didn't help.
00:05:33
Speaker
These things were so slow.
00:05:34
Speaker
And if you tried to get it to do multiple things at once, it's basically going to explode on you.
00:05:38
Speaker
So I started thinking, I'm like, how many of us are doing this in our solar business?
00:05:42
Speaker
We're running so many different tasks that we can't focus on the important things that our brains are going to explode.
00:05:49
Speaker
So for you listening in this show, what can you automate?
00:05:52
Speaker
What are some things that you do on a frequent basis that maybe you could outsource or
Managing Recurring Leadership Tasks
00:05:57
Speaker
Very powerful exercise to start writing some of these things out.
00:06:01
Speaker
But as I was talking with Mikey, we were jamming on just things we do in leadership and
00:06:08
Speaker
managing teams, what are some recurring tasks that we do?
00:06:11
Speaker
And maybe if you are running a team, maybe you're not doing some of these things, but I think you should.
00:06:15
Speaker
Here's some ideas for you.
00:06:17
Speaker
I was just kind of making a running list.
00:06:19
Speaker
So I'm thinking when I've run teams myself, some things I do are...
00:06:24
Speaker
Typically had like a little book club.
00:06:27
Speaker
We do a little book club of sales books we read.
00:06:29
Speaker
That's something I think is really cool that we do on a recurring basis.
00:06:33
Speaker
And we assign like a book minutes during the meeting, right?
00:06:36
Speaker
So I'm going to go over what they've taken from the book, some key takeaways.
00:06:40
Speaker
Another thing that I've tried to do whenever I'm leading a team is do one on ones with my reps, right?
00:06:47
Speaker
Meet once a quarter, even better, maybe once a month.
00:06:51
Speaker
But, you know, depending on how many team members you have or if you have like a co-manager can get overwhelming.
00:06:57
Speaker
But scheduling one on ones with your team.
00:07:00
Speaker
This is something that I did quite frequently and this is something that I did on a continual basis.
00:07:05
Speaker
It's a recurring task.
00:07:07
Speaker
Number three, obviously correlations, right?
00:07:10
Speaker
Weekly correlations.
00:07:12
Speaker
Number four, something I've tried to do is get my reps to report weekly and daily numbers.
00:07:18
Speaker
Hey, what were their appointments booked for the day?
00:07:21
Speaker
What were their conversations?
00:07:22
Speaker
Who did they sit with in their appointments?
00:07:25
Speaker
You know, weekly and daily basis.
00:07:28
Speaker
Number five, update appointment statuses.
00:07:31
Speaker
Once you submit a lead, did this appointment sit?
00:07:35
Speaker
Did it actually happen, the appointment?
00:07:37
Speaker
Does it need to be followed up with?
00:07:39
Speaker
And probably a lot more things you can think of in your business.
00:07:42
Speaker
But these, I mean, this was what, five things?
00:07:45
Speaker
So think just these five things as a leader.
00:07:48
Speaker
And now talking with Mikey, I realize why.
00:07:51
Speaker
sometimes I was wildly inconsistent with a lot of these things because doing all these five things, that's going to take a lot of brainpower.
00:07:58
Speaker
I got to remember to send out reminders.
00:08:01
Speaker
What's the book we're reading this quarter team?
00:08:03
Speaker
What's the schedule for the one-on-ones?
00:08:06
Speaker
Let's remind everyone to show up to the correlations.
00:08:08
Speaker
Let's remind everyone to update their weekly and daily numbers.
00:08:12
Speaker
Let's remind everyone to update their appointment statuses.
00:08:15
Speaker
And on top of that, just be checking in
00:08:17
Speaker
ideally on a daily basis with the majority of the team.
00:08:21
Speaker
And imagine trying to sell and do all these tasks while running a team.
00:08:25
Speaker
That's enough to make anyone's brain explode.
00:08:27
Speaker
Hey, so how can you automate some of these things?
00:08:30
Speaker
Hey, and what this, you'll hear in the next episode chatting with Mikey, but these tools, whether you use a CRM, whatever you're using,
00:08:38
Speaker
There's ways you can automate this, whether you're outsourcing some of this to a team member, hiring out, maybe you have an assistant.
00:08:45
Speaker
They can help with some of these things.
00:08:47
Speaker
But if you have tools like Mikey's high level that he built out, it's called Golden Door.
00:08:55
Speaker
It's the Golden Door formula.
00:08:58
Speaker
But you can set some of these things to automate a lot of these tasks.
00:09:02
Speaker
So what if every time you had a book club, you had reminders send out, hey, here's the book we're reading and a weekly reminder sent out and then a reminder sent out automatically to the person who is supposed to report on the chapter for the sales correlation.
00:09:18
Speaker
Hey, what if you could automate scheduling one-on-ones with the team?
00:09:22
Speaker
You don't have to remember, oh, I got to organize this.
00:09:25
Speaker
I got to send out reminders to all my team.
00:09:27
Speaker
What if you had a tool that could remind you to do this and then automatically schedule it, send out links to all your reps with the calendar invite, they pick a time and boom.
00:09:37
Speaker
Hey, what if you had a tool where you could send out a reminder for your correlation?
00:09:42
Speaker
What if you had a tool where you could send out text reminders for reps to update their weekly and daily numbers without you having to pester them about it?
00:09:50
Speaker
What if you had something that could text the rep after every appointment status and ask for an update on that appointment?
00:09:57
Speaker
Okay, so whether you're running a team or not, like how can you set up these automations?
00:10:01
Speaker
Because how useful would that be?
00:10:03
Speaker
Even say you're just an individual lone wolf rep.
00:10:06
Speaker
You should be doing these things.
00:10:07
Speaker
You should have your own personal book club.
00:10:09
Speaker
We all want to be reading books every day.
00:10:11
Speaker
You should be updating your numbers daily and weekly.
00:10:15
Speaker
You should be updating your appointments every single day.
00:10:18
Speaker
So even if you're not running a team, how can you automate some of these tasks?
00:10:22
Speaker
Maybe for you, if you are just like a rep listener, this maybe set a recurring reminder to go out.
00:10:26
Speaker
Okay, but there's tools like what Mike is going to talk about in the next episode.
00:10:31
Speaker
And by the way, all our current society members in our circle, they all have this tool which follows up with people automatically and which has the ability to do all this stuff and help run teams more effectively.
00:10:46
Speaker
But how powerful would that be if you could automate all these tasks and on top of that, assign things to an assistant and just offload some of the tasks that we have to do.
00:10:56
Speaker
So that way we're not going to be running like this Windows 98 software where our brain is literally going to explode with so many tasks.
00:11:03
Speaker
If we can offload all these, all of a sudden our brain goes from 98% taken like in content.
How Top Sales Reps Manage Tasks
00:11:10
Speaker
all these computations going on to where we can focus on the things most important, the sales, the follow-up, maybe it's some marketing, okay, whatever you got going in your business, going on in your business.
00:11:22
Speaker
But if you have not already, take some time to write a list of all the things you do and think, how can I either automate this?
00:11:30
Speaker
How can I delegate this?
00:11:32
Speaker
Is it possible to do that?
00:11:33
Speaker
Okay, and this is what people have access to in our program and we're helping people do, but even if you're not in our program
00:11:41
Speaker
you can start to automate and delegate a lot of these tasks yourself.
00:11:44
Speaker
Okay, so just something I've been thinking about, and I know some people, this may apply to you more than others.
00:11:49
Speaker
If you're brand new in the solar industry, maybe you're not at the point where you're trying to automate and delegate everything, but it's something that you should be thinking about because this is what top reps are doing.
00:11:59
Speaker
They are not the ones going through all these different tasks, all the things that need to be done and just doing it themselves.
00:12:05
Speaker
They are either automating it or delegating
Episode Wrap-up and Next Episode Teaser
00:12:08
Speaker
Okay, so I hope that helps.
00:12:09
Speaker
Next episode, we're going to get a lot deeper into this stuff, and I think you're going to love it.
00:12:14
Speaker
So if you like geeking out on this, make sure you don't miss next episode with Mikey Lucas, where we go into this a little bit deeper, and he gives a little intro on his software too.
00:12:23
Speaker
But I hope that helps.
00:12:25
Speaker
I hope you're crushing it this summer and selling a lot of accounts.
00:12:28

00:12:44
Speaker
Before you run out and start selling more solar yourself, wanted to let you know about an exciting new cheat sheet we created specifically for you in mind.
00:12:54
Speaker
One of the top questions I get asked on Instagram, on Facebook, by our listeners is, Taylor, where should I start?
00:13:01
Speaker
What episodes should I listen to in the podcast?
00:13:04
Speaker
You got too many podcasts, man, because now we have over 200 episodes.
