DailySaintsPod: hello and welcome back. once again to the Daily Saints pod. Episode number... 504. Zach, I know that it has taken as long for us to get started recording as the FA are taking with Tonda's decision. but How you doing, mate?
Zak: Yeah.
DailySaintsPod: You enjoyed your time off?
Zak: Yeah, it's been it's been nice. I say last a nice, it's been... in the entirety of world of news has happened right we've still heard absolutely nothing there was us thinking like oh what if happens what happens if in the first week of our break we need to do an emergency episode because you know surely Surely we would have heard something by...
Zak: Friday. I thought last week, the week before.
DailySaintsPod: Yep.
Zak: And here we are on the currently recording the 5th of October.
DailySaintsPod: I mean, it...
Zak: We've still heard. Nothing.
DailySaintsPod: It's literally... a meme at this point, right? That we we got an answer about Man City's 115 charges before we got a decision on Tonda from a hearing that happened.
DailySaintsPod: two weeks ago. Just... Just crazy, right?
Zak: That's a... There's a lot of things. It's made me wonder about. And, you know... One of them is that potentially the club know something and haven't said anything because...
DailySaintsPod: Bye.
Zak: As much as you know.
DailySaintsPod: i don't believe that for a second because And above all else. It would have leaked. so someone would have Someone would have let that out.
Zak: yeah That's what I mean is that... But the problem is is, I think back to when all of this first started kicking off and how... horrifically handled it was by Aw. you know comms team right
DailySaintsPod: Hmm.
Zak: I think it's just... It's just frustrating. It's been... Forever now. If... like What I what think that frustrates me the most is there seems to be no like consideration that the... the season started.
Zak: that there is like, play covered the happening. you know the manager is currently doing his job it's not like it's outside and i know I know that they're going to go, well, that shouldn't really be considered.
Zak: But i do I do think that it's hugely disruptive because it's not just disruptive to them, it's disruptive to all the players.
DailySaintsPod: Okay.
Zak: It's disruptive to like the the plans of the seasons and the organisation.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah.
Zak: and I think that surely some of that should at least be considered. It doesn't seem to be.
DailySaintsPod: I think it's abundantly clear right that...
Zak: Bye.
DailySaintsPod: They don't care. They don't care about... players and disruption they don't care about the fans they certainly don't care about it uh being before a south coast derby they're just there to uh take three and a half years to write their legal documentation and uh everyone else.
DailySaintsPod: be done with it you know just uh we're at their disposal and they're their needs and that's going to be what it's going to be apparently so I don't know.
Zak: So Alfie thinks otherwise, right?
DailySaintsPod: It's frustrating, isn't it?
Zak: But... how much credence do you give to the idea that the whole Man City thing. is potentially one of the reasons that this has slowed down. Because I would imagine they're two different decision -making departments, if I'm totally honest.
Zak: But surely if all of the resources are going to be tied up...
DailySaintsPod: Well, I mean first of all One of them is the Premier League and one of them is the FA, right? so separate bodies completely, it shouldn't have an impact.
DailySaintsPod: But... taking the train of thought of of everything trying to be through like a media lens, right? And it's not just... oh we're just going to get this decision out because it's for the good of the club or the fans they might have pushed back their press because it's not going to be as big news as they wanted it to be. I can genuinely believe that.
DailySaintsPod: But I don't know. Maybe that is a very cynical few. on Uh, The... the powers that be in football. But... Also, maybe it's bang on, right?
Zak: Yeah, I don't know. As as I said, like... it shouldn't really have an impact but you just wonder if, you know... You wonder if thoughts... From the FA around.
Zak: the wider impacts of this means that potentially they're they're going to immediately review other things that are to take place right because clearly they knew that this was about to come out as well when they were doing all this Tonda stuff and it's just that if all of a sudden they decide to ban him for like a year right?
DailySaintsPod: Hmm.
Zak: Which is one of the punishments that's been thrown around. And then you're seeing, you know, We don't know if any. What punishment? Man City realistically going to get, right?
Zak: There's all talk from expulsion.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah.
Zak: I know that you did your standard Greg thing and started going through all of their like the documentation. And realistically, it's like it's more akin to potential financial crimes.
Zak: allegedly, he says, because...
DailySaintsPod: I read, look, i I would be lying to you people of the podcast, and as regular listeners will probably have guessed, I read all 40 pages. and And, I mean...
DailySaintsPod: That's why I'm confident that no appeal lodged by Man City will... and result in anything. but As with lots of these things. The additional complications that...
DailySaintsPod: might arise. by the implications of any sort of punishment. Bye. might be complicated enough that they decide not to go that route.
DailySaintsPod: Right?
Zak: It's For me, it's one of those things that maybe other governments shouldn't own football clubs anymore is where I'm at.
DailySaintsPod: Crazy.
Zak: If you could cause a diplomatic incident.
DailySaintsPod: What? Crazy thought.
Zak: if you can cause a diplomatic incident by chucking out people for cheating. that that's it and and i think that's the other thing you know and i know that we're we're getting the comparisons and we're having to you know we've we've had a lot of conversations about that as well. and ultimately regardless of whether or not it's a bloke with an iphone What? Southampton Football Club did.
Zak: constitutes the rule of constitutes cheating, right? and As a club, we have had a a very, very harsh punishment. and you know chucked out completely and are now potentially the coach or the follow -up for The more I look into it, the more time that's passed, the more I genuinely believe that somebody at any point should have said something to the guy that, oh, by the way, mate, we're not allowed to do this like two to three days before. That's all it would have probably taken because he didn't know the rules.
Zak: But, you know, that's no excuse for for not knowing it. But, you know, some of the stuff that's been sort of pandered around as punishment and some of the and the fact that it's just a... ongoing thing.
Zak: It's just so frustrating because when if if obviously they end up getting away with little to no punishment due to it potentially causing a... diplomatic incident. you kind of wonder, like, what's the point of the rules at that point, right?
Zak: like
DailySaintsPod: Yeah. For sure.
Zak: just throw them all out just allow people to do whatever they want
DailySaintsPod: it
DailySaintsPod: that's That's the thing, right?
Zak: Because it...
DailySaintsPod: and and the The thing is, as much as we've joked about... how how long the whole process for City has taken. That's part of why as well. right like it's It is a...
Zak: Yeah.
DailySaintsPod: A huge amount. of of evidence that has gone into it from both sides. a huge amount of everything and like the punishments are between you know They're up to 2018.
DailySaintsPod: That doesn't mean that... That's when it stopped. either, right? Like... that is That is when the investigation stops. So... you know there could be a further investigation with another 115 charges of the 10 years following.
Zak: Well, that's the thing.
DailySaintsPod: Presumably
Zak: 115 for each of those charges, 115 appeals as well. It shows you when we decided to get the lawyers in for the Man City case, what it did when they've been found guilty on.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah.
Zak: every single charge. So.
DailySaintsPod: Hmm.
Zak: you know You've got members of City's board picking up diplomatic immunity to try and avoid... things and when i'm saying that like you know they could be completely unrelated and again these are all alleged allegations but you know, to,
Zak: like i think it was like four years ago high up member of the board picked up diplomatic immunity because at that point they probably knew what was coming. And it's it for me, it's just incredibly frustrating because people are like, oh, look, see all the Southampton fans are coming out and and pointing at City and being like, see? And I'm like, yeah, of course we are. Because this is such a...
Zak: such a more extreme case and it kind of it not to trivialize what happened but it it does make it look trivial in comparison.
DailySaintsPod: yeah Regardless of... All right. Hello. Because regardless of what punishment... does or doesn't get handed out by the Premier League or by the independent body anyways. It's technically out of the Premier League's hands. It is...
DailySaintsPod: historic in football, right? It is... foundationally shaking whatever happens because, you know, it's either a declaration that, oh, they've really... got away with this. Or...
DailySaintsPod: Or it will literally be tearing up. What the last? 15 years of football history, effectively, from... the richest league in the world. And either way... that's You know...
DailySaintsPod: whether I mean, it's already in question, right? like There's already speculations about the other clubs and the potential... legal implications of Like. suing Man City for...
DailySaintsPod: cost loss of cost and it's just It's such a... Wild. string of off the pitch events, which is. I mean, it sucks in so many ways for so many reasons. It's not...
DailySaintsPod: It's not like enjoyable history to watch. It's just... It is. It doesn't do the Premier League any favours either.
Zak: i don't know if there's I don't know if there's any historical, enjoyable history to watch, mate, other than maybe like the ending of wars.
DailySaintsPod: Right.
Zak: There's not really... And even then, that comes with its own indications.
DailySaintsPod: There was that one time... that we beat Pompey 4 -0 at Fram Park. That's some good historic viewing, mate.
Zak: Bye, sir. We might end up... talking a little bit more about this in detail. probably as more information comes out.
DailySaintsPod: Probably.
Zak: Bye.
DailySaintsPod: I undoubtedly make that when they come out and decide what the punishment is and then release all 5 ,000 pages of. uh like evidence to the public that they have to do as part of the decision you'll lose touch with me for about three weeks and then I'll come back with a five part special.
Zak: Yeah, but... The other thing with that, mate, as well, is that means that they need to get past their 115 appeals and all of their 150. Even if each one of those appeals takes a day, you're already then looking at like months.
Zak: It's probably going to be another year or so before we hear anything, to be honest.
DailySaintsPod: Well, actually, they under the under Premier League rules, they only have until December to... have. the hearing. And then they only have 30 days after the hearing to have a decision.
DailySaintsPod: In theory, not necessarily in practice, we should know by New Year. And based off of the FH track record, we might even hear about Tonda by then as well.
Zak: Yeah, but or did I don't know. At this point. As we discuss, he he is going to be in charge for the thing that you've alluded to, which is happy South Coast Derby week, everybody.
Zak: Let's come around quick at it.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah. I don't know, mate. Is it happy? How are you feeling? building up to this. It feels feels weird, right?
Zak: Well, you've got... Our goalkeeper withdrawing from international duty due to injury. You've got our star striker.
Zak: not on the bench because he's also potentially picked up a small injury. you You had... Matsky's incredible debut. followed up by an incredible goal, which is going to likely put him in contention.
Zak: Sir. play in the cup the japan are in in january which means that potentially we we lose him for four games
DailySaintsPod: of five league games and an FA Cup game.
Zak: Sorry.
Zak: So yeah, I don't really know how I on On some, on sub you know... That's a really good. thing for him. Firstly, Not great for Saints and on top of that it just seems like We've done a really good job of keeping all of our players injury -free. and then you send them out to international camps and apparently their physios are like part -time physios or something because everybody just immediately picks up an injury.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah, you're going to lift these weights, Kyle. Come on, you can do better than that. What do you mean you're 43 and your back broke?
DailySaintsPod: It's It's... Ugh. I think I've made my opinions on international football and international breaks in particular very clear on the show.
DailySaintsPod: And... Especially this. particularly long one. Like...
Zak: It's been so long. It's like... It kind of feels like when we had the... Almost feels like when we had the Qatari World Cup. Except there's been no World Cup.
DailySaintsPod: yeah
Zak: It's just been... Nations League matches, a thing that nobody cares about.
DailySaintsPod: And... And the worst part was like... genuinely the first Monday of the international break I forgot it was international break and sat down in the early evening with the house to myself and flicked on Sky Sports I'm like oh no Monday Night Football oh no and it was like genuinely three weeks of sad Pablo Escobar meme right like just Looking out.
Zak: It's, it's.
DailySaintsPod: willingly, longingly towards
Zak: It's been so... It's just so boring. Like, I just don't... but I tell a lie. It's not been boring. Some of the headlines are crazy where you've got like... Luka Modric, still not retired, complaining about losing 7 -0 to England.
Zak: A 7 -0 victory for England that I didn't watch because, again, it's the Nation League, which doesn't matter.
DailySaintsPod: I just don't care. Who cares?
Zak: and then And then you've got Cristiano Ronaldo.
DailySaintsPod: movie Yeah.
Zak: turning 41 and still being... though. not playing in a match that he was expected to but play. playing and kicking off about it's just it's just a bunch of like headlines for stuff that i'm just like Okay, whatever. And then on top of that...
Zak: Did you see the former Saints defender Yannick Vestergaard has retired now?
DailySaintsPod: I did see that, yeah.
Zak: Another Leicester alumni who was in that 9 -0 defeat that somehow ended his career at Leicester alongside with Ryan Bertrand. but It's just... That's just what I mean. It's just like...
Zak: I just don't. care about like world cup sure euro sure i understand that they want they need to keep cohesion in between but i just think that the the length of this international break has just been
DailySaintsPod: Huh?
Zak: too long.
DailySaintsPod: It's been... properly. properly grim. And it's it's just shocking. but Just... Make international football.
DailySaintsPod: A summertime event. If you want to do a nice...
Zak: We've
DailySaintsPod: legal qualifier.
Zak: We've had a World Cup. like We've had a World Cup.
DailySaintsPod: We're in. We're in the pit.
Zak: We don't need more. We've we've had so much international football.
DailySaintsPod: All right.
Zak: the be The players have barely had a break. Rather than having like... a two weekek like and I can understand a winter break, right? like We don't do that in the UK, but like you know a lot of other countries do.
Zak: But the fact that we don't do that, and on top of that, you've now also got... an international break where realistically if you've got a team full of international players again all it seems to have done is we've sent a load of players off.
Zak: And they've either had, you know... personal issues with stuff that we're definitely not getting into on this podcast or alternatively they've managed to pick up injuries.
Zak: And then, and then and then so everybody comes back and then all the harmony, everything you've built, every all the momentum you've gained. has fallen completely to the wayside because you've got... People that have have got a lot of stuff they they're thinking about. You've got people that have then got...
Zak: back strains, leg strains, thigh strains, whatever. And it's all because they've obviously gone in to do this new, you know, completely different regimen of training that's messed up, whatever's going on.
Zak: And I think you're right. Just keep it to the summer. Like, does it need to happen all year round? Do we need these massive breaks?
DailySaintsPod: No. No it doesn't. It's been horrible. I have... I have hated every minute of it. I've not even watched... the have I don't care about the England games. I forgot they were on.
DailySaintsPod: It just was not fussed in the slightest. I don't care that we beat Croatia 7 -0. It doesn't matter. it's It's not for anything that counts or anybody cares about.
DailySaintsPod: Why are we bothering with it? Just... Spin it off completely.
Zak: we We all know the answer to that realistically, don't we?
DailySaintsPod: Uh... sick of it.
Zak: It's it's because of money, quite frankly. like There's no...
DailySaintsPod: Yeah.
Zak: you know when when when what when uh you know Infantino says football is for everyone what you actually mean is that football is for everyone to make money and it feels like that and that's what these kind of breaks feel like and again it just seems that from from a club perspective, it has done significantly more harm than good. And like, you know, fair enough for all of the players that are out there and want to represent their national teams. And again,
Zak: I'm very happy for Matsky. because that's cool that was a really good goal uh you know his debut for that that was really cool but other than that i've paid basically zero attention it's just lots of like headlines around you know
DailySaintsPod: First attention I'm going to be paying to it. apart from the the bits I've picked up about injury news, is when I do some prep for one of our episodes later in the week and I look at how well or not so well our Saints players have done on international duty. So... like It's just...
DailySaintsPod: it's just been rubbish and uh I can't wait for club football to come back. and I don't know. it Because...
DailySaintsPod: The... Because it's the first game back and it's been so long off, but also... all of these injury questions and the ever -looming tonder question, like, I don't rule out the FA coming to a decision on...
DailySaintsPod: 3 o 'clock on Friday afternoon, two days before the game. And that is ludicrous. And it's just, instead of being...
Zak: As you pointed out, it's because they just don't care and I don't think it it should be factored in.
DailySaintsPod: Instead of being excited for a derby that we're playing at home. you know coming in with like unbelievable home form as well. I've just got so many other factors that are like yeah Becoming concerns.
DailySaintsPod: Like... Like goalkeepers and strikers. And managers... and and having such gap. I just, yeah. I mean, that there's...
Zak: isn't it baffling that...
DailySaintsPod: There's only two people or two groups of people that benefit from any of this nonsense. And that is the FA who get to continue to be the the talk of everybody whilst they...
DailySaintsPod: faff about and not make a decision uh and hampshire constabulary who who are just gonna have to deal with uh an already nervous group of fans from both sets and are doing their best to take every piece of atmosphere out of the game because it makes for a quiet life for them.
Zak: dont I don't know. I think that if you're a Pompey fan right now, you're probably jumping at the bit, right? Because when when you hear that our primary goalkeepers come out and then... The fact that that was just not a question for so long. And now I know we get to that match preview. I was thinking about this in the day. we get to that match preview, it's going to be like, goalkeeper, and then we're going to have to sit. and have a massive discussion as to whether it's going to be... the one that Todda keeps saying it's going to be, or... Ramsdale, but then bear in mind that
Zak: Ramsdale hasn't played as long as George Long at this point. So is he... Really going to be better. Like...
DailySaintsPod: Yes.
Zak: Okay.
DailySaintsPod: Ramsdale is a better keeper than George Long. That is not a controversial take. that is it
Zak: who Okay, who has the most relegations under their belt though?
DailySaintsPod: Peace. Well, yeah. But... Also...
Zak: to To be clear, I'm messing, but my point is, is it's a joke, isn't it?
DailySaintsPod: One of those players is... is mentally geared to enjoy a situation like being thrown in after the last game being for your under -21s to a game like the South Coast Derby.
DailySaintsPod: like one of those One of those goalkeepers it will arguably thrive off of that atmosphere. And one of them is George Long.
DailySaintsPod: i mean I mean, no dis...
Zak: i I thought you were going to say one of them were what of them played for Norwich.
DailySaintsPod: I mean, no... disrespect. Yeah. Well, I mean... Okay. respect at all. But... If... If Thunder...
DailySaintsPod: Picks George Long. And not Aaron Ramsdale. Then George Long. has a howler. Like that is... That is less forgivable to Saints fans for...
DailySaintsPod: Both George Long and Tonda. Than the whole Spygate situation. Like that is... That is how bad of a situation that... would be you can't put a player in that position. or yourself in that position.
DailySaintsPod: Because... Because that's what you would be doing by picking George Long over Ramsdale. That's how much pressure you're putting on. probably the most important game of our season.
DailySaintsPod: Maybe one of... two of the most important games of our season. depending on your feelings, right? Like...
Zak: The wrong...
DailySaintsPod: You can't...
Zak: Yeah.
DailySaintsPod: It's cool. It's... it You know... If Peretz is or isn't fit and starts, right, there's a debate. right you can have debate about Ramsdale versus Peretz that's potentially open for discussion if the choice is Ramsdale or Long.
DailySaintsPod: The choice is Ramsdale. And you know what? Because... Even if Ramsdale does come in rusty and have a stinker.
DailySaintsPod: He goes in January. No one thinks anything else of it. It was still the right decision. If you actively choose to play George Long over Aaron Ramsdale, knowing... the discourse that will come of that, and George Long has a stinker.
DailySaintsPod: what are you doing what are we doing here lunch
Zak: but but But what if he doesn't?
DailySaintsPod: Yeah. Yeah.
Zak: What if he comes in and he pulls off some incredible saves and we batter them 5 -0?
DailySaintsPod: Okay.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah.
Zak: But Barber scores three goals.
DailySaintsPod: If Tonda wants to hang his career on that what if, then...
Zak: Top end scores.
DailySaintsPod: Tonda is a braver man than I.
Zak: <unk> I mean, it's got to be more exciting than the two derbies last year, right? That's kind of where I'm at.
DailySaintsPod: Maybe.
Zak: Maybe.
DailySaintsPod: I don't know I mean...
Zak: not Not now.
DailySaintsPod: All right.
Zak: i think if we if we'd gone into the team that you know put five five goals past the opponents.
DailySaintsPod: I think...
Zak: before the international break, maybe, but...
DailySaintsPod: I think it's perfectly geared to be as bad as the last year's game at St Mary's. Right? like You're going to be having a Saints team who are going to be...
DailySaintsPod: hopefully chomping at the bit knowing the home form we're in. but also at least somewhat disjointed by, at minimum... not having trained fully together for three weeks because some of the key components have been out on international duty.
DailySaintsPod: Right? And at... at best, best case scenario. you get a... A jet -lagged Kyle Lahren whose back has... got back you know we've stuck some deep heat on him and slapped him out there Like, you know.
DailySaintsPod: Uh... against Pompey who are... And... Shit. And have every right to and will be coming to... take every piece of sting out of the game and hope for a nil -nil.
DailySaintsPod: Because if you're Pompey sat in 19th... Looking at. Our home form. and coming to do anything other than not concede a goal. You're asking for trouble.
DailySaintsPod: but It's the same situation, right? their Their manager comes and tries to play...
Zak: Yeah.
DailySaintsPod: play us and get absolutely battered because he decided to do that instead of... you know do the dark arts and time waste for a minute one and make it a horrible game and like not lose.
DailySaintsPod: He's going to get absolute arrows for it. Right? It's not... So it's fully set up to be... Just a horrible... Horrible game.
Zak: That'd be Obama hat -trick.
DailySaintsPod: And hopefully we get some good moments from it, right?
Zak: Dobbins scores two goals.
DailySaintsPod: You got the bonus that some of the players that have not been away and should be fully fresh and fired up. Like Leo Cienza. I mean...
DailySaintsPod: This is the sort of game that he is going to be... I mean, he is either going to score a hat -trick or be sent off in the third minute. Right? Yeah. it's
Zak: Yeah, maybe. That's if he plays. Hopefully he hasn't picked up an injury in the off -season.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah.
Zak: Ugh.
DailySaintsPod: Like.
Zak: hate international breaks.
DailySaintsPod: like Think about how fired up Flynn Downs is going to be after... like Three weeks off the football field after he kicks his first Pompey player and hears the crowd erupt. like These are the positives we hold out hope for. because that's...
DailySaintsPod: The disruption. And the... yeah You know, even down to the Tonda decision. uh Even the... steeliest of characters.
DailySaintsPod: has to be that's That's got to be weighing on Tonda. consciously or not. Right? That's... the definition of hanging over his head. How can you...
Zak: I think he's he's actively and publicly said that, you know...
DailySaintsPod: How can you rightfully fully prepare?
Zak: a lot of this is on his mind. is' no I think there's no... no surprise that the situation we're currently in is going to be affecting him and it's going to be hard
DailySaintsPod: Hmm.
Zak: It's going to be gotta to be hard this week to prepare for that game. knowing you might just get a phone call on Thursday and then after that it's knowing however long it takes you know the only other thing that you could maybe hold out hope for is it's been so long that it turns out that they're basically just like oh yeah we just haven't you know whatever For now.
Zak: we you've apologized you we we can move on and go from there but it also subsequently as the as the longer amount of time goes on it's like Is it just the worst punishment?
Zak: I just don't know. I don't know. But if if if we're feeling like that, imagine how he's feeling. And on top of that, you've got a squad that...
DailySaintsPod: Yeah. Because it just it builds, whether it's accurate or not, it just builds up in your mind. Whereas we all know that the honest truth is that whatever lawyer they've paid... to draft their full response.
DailySaintsPod: is clearly paid by the hour and is trying to eat as much payment out of it as possible I mean, that's demonstrated by... Like, but that's the craziest thing about the Man City Finals, right? That ruling finished.
DailySaintsPod: the The inquiry finished in 2024. It has taken them since December 2024. to reach a decision and write it up. And so based on that period of time...
Zak: You'll get 115 charges if you spent a week on each of those charges, mate. I'm not really surprised.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah. There's a lot of evidence. They said there was like... a 5 ,000 page docket of evidence. That's insane. That's crazy. Obviously it's not that. case with thunder right like All of the details have been out there and very public for a very long time.
DailySaintsPod: And, and. You know, theres there was no can Contest. come We didn't contest it. He said he did it. so let just I don't know It's...
DailySaintsPod: It's baffling But like like we opened up with, they they don't care about... that effect they don't. have any thought well this is this is the problem with all of this off the field and lawyer stuff right like i might find it fascinating to sit and read 40 page documents about the ins and outs of uh the rules and the laws and the way they're applied but
DailySaintsPod: Do I prefer that to just watching someone kick a ball in the goal? No. Just bring back football, please.
Zak: No, but yeah, but this is the problem, right? It's all of that. then has an impact on that kind of stuff and it's just Ugh. So frustrating.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah. I don't know, like Glenn on... TotalSaintsPod had the the opinion that I i enjoyed the most or or thought. the highest of, right? It's like, if you put the 11 players who are going to start on Sunday for Pompey in any other shirt.
DailySaintsPod: you would expect us to... Uh, hammer them. bright like Or at least comfortably win.
Zak: Yeah.
DailySaintsPod: So we just need to try and come into the game with that mindset rather than the occasion of the derby. but that's easier said than done in it
Zak: Yeah. Yes. You're right. if preston If it was Preston versus Portsmouth, it's a different game.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah.
Zak: This is like when we, to be fair to to him though, that's this is very much like when we make the point of you ultimately we get down to you know what you need to do is score more goals than the opponent and then you win it.
DailySaintsPod: Yeah. Yeah. It's an easy game. People make it look well complicated. You've just got to kick the ball in the goal.
Zak: Oh. It's... Yeah, the the outside forces the emotion everything else that goes into it is ultimately also what makes it
DailySaintsPod: Yeah.
Zak: But it's... Yeah, it's just been... It's felt like it's been a thousand years.
DailySaintsPod: Mmm.
Zak: If anything, me me and you have just started talking more about NFL while we're waiting.
DailySaintsPod: And that's been even worse because my team suck at that as well.
Zak: but That's...
Zak: Can't relate, mate.
DailySaintsPod: and sit down on a Sunday night and think, quite finally, some sport to get my teeth into. At least I can cheer on a team and then... Just...

Zak: And everybody in the team. is absolutely ready to go. And or they scored 1 ,000 % of all their fitness tests. And we're going to go into South Coast Derby with a resolution that Tonda isn't going to have anything happen to him. and Man City have been expelled from all English Football League clubs and are now in the...
Zak: you know. Tyrone League or whatever.
DailySaintsPod: but
Zak: That is not the name of the leagues that were around when I was young in Hampshire.
DailySaintsPod: Uh... Hey, look, the rumour is that if... if they get expelled from the Premier League, that the EFL will back that decision and also not accept them.
DailySaintsPod: Now whether that means they will accept them, but only... Like as if they were entering from the bottom up and get some playing in League 2. or if that means they also expel them and means they play in National League.
DailySaintsPod: Either way. That makes for some... some interesting... uh fixtures right
