Introduction and Excitement for New Pinball Games

00:00:06
Speaker
Thanks for tuning in to the Loser Kid Pinball Podcast.
00:00:08
Speaker
This is episode 94.
00:00:09
Speaker
I am Josh Roop.
00:00:11
Speaker
With me, my co-captain as always.
00:00:13
Speaker
Scott Larson.
00:00:14
Speaker
And Scott, we've got... Honestly, there's like really no news.
00:00:17
Speaker
And the expo's happening in a couple of days.
00:00:20
Speaker
We do have news.
00:00:21
Speaker
You and I are getting new games.
00:00:23
Speaker
Oh, yeah.
00:00:23
Speaker
We'll talk about that.
00:00:24
Speaker
So where'd you get your game from?
00:00:26
Speaker
That's the big question.
00:00:27
Speaker
I contacted Zach and Nicola flipping out pinball and I am getting...
00:00:31
Speaker
one of the last one from the last run of guardians of the galaxy.
00:00:35
Speaker
Nice.
00:00:36
Speaker
So it will be nice because, uh, I have missed iron man a little bit since I sold it.
00:00:42
Speaker
Yeah.
00:00:42
Speaker
Um, don't, I don't want to own another iron man, but this has a similar feel, but kind of an upgraded iron man feel.
00:00:50
Speaker
Yeah.
00:00:51
Speaker
So I'm, I'm looking forward to it and my friend has it.
00:00:54
Speaker
Uh, Brandon has it and I've loved playing it and I just wanted to pull the trigger before it, it went on, went into the vault.
00:01:01
Speaker
I agree.
00:01:02
Speaker
I have the same sentiments you do.
00:01:04
Speaker
I called Zach because just like you, I heard Guardians of the Galaxy was going out of style.
00:01:09
Speaker
That Stern's no longer going to be doing it.
00:01:11
Speaker
I've honestly never owned a Guardians or a Metallica, so I thought this was a great opportunity to try.
00:01:16
Speaker
I've never owned a Metallica either.
00:01:17
Speaker
Yeah, and this is definitely the more family-friendly version with the group that you bash instead of Sparky.
00:01:24
Speaker
So Zach was flipping out, hooked me up.
00:01:26
Speaker
I know that I was late on the list, but
00:01:29
Speaker
We made some space.
00:01:30
Speaker
I was able to make it on.
00:01:31
Speaker
So I'm excited.
00:01:32
Speaker
I got the call today.
00:01:34
Speaker
It'll be here tomorrow.
00:01:36
Speaker
So I need to be available anywhere from 9 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon.
00:01:40
Speaker
I love that, right?
00:01:42
Speaker
Oh, can you be a little more non-specific with your time?
00:01:47
Speaker
Can you be like... Right, yeah.
00:01:49
Speaker
Can you at least give me a month that I just have to be available?

Working with Flipping Out Pinball

00:01:53
Speaker
Exactly.
00:01:53
Speaker
Just say Tuesday.
00:01:54
Speaker
It's crazy.
00:01:57
Speaker
But if you're looking for that new pinball machine, hit up Zach.
00:01:59
Speaker
He's got all the goods and arcade games.
00:02:01
Speaker
It's not just pinball you're limited to.
00:02:03
Speaker
Zach is awesome to work with.
00:02:05
Speaker
And trust me, you won't have any issues.
00:02:07
Speaker
You'll be happy you decided to go with flipping out pinball.
00:02:10
Speaker
Okay, I'm looking at, ironically, I'm looking at all of Stern's, the things they have in their active category, right?
00:02:19
Speaker
Not in their archive.
00:02:22
Speaker
Of all the games, I have ordered all but two so far.
00:02:28
Speaker
Should we play Guess What Scott Hasn't Ordered then?
00:02:30
Speaker
Guess What I Haven't Ordered from Stern's active category.
00:02:36
Speaker
I'm going to say James Bond.

Game Ownership and Investment Discussion

00:02:39
Speaker
Okay, yes.
00:02:40
Speaker
And that is one of them, yes, because not really available yet.
00:02:44
Speaker
Are you going to order one?
00:02:45
Speaker
Are you on the list for a James Bond?
00:02:48
Speaker
I will, I'll buy one.
00:02:50
Speaker
I really, I'm looking at it and I, I think it's going to be a sleeper hit.
00:02:55
Speaker
Uh, it's, it, it looks just like it has the vibe of Deadpool and maybe that will help jumpstart it.
00:03:03
Speaker
So when people play it, they'll think, oh, this, this has a familiar vibe, you know, you know, like we like,
00:03:09
Speaker
We want new, but we like familiar, right?
00:03:11
Speaker
Yeah.
00:03:12
Speaker
And so people are going to warm up to this game faster than they warmed up to Deadpool.
00:03:20
Speaker
But I still think, as we talked about the fumbling of the launch that I really lay on the licensor, that it's probably cooled off sales a little bit.
00:03:35
Speaker
And so there may not be as many of them.
00:03:37
Speaker
So it may be a game to hold on to and buy because it will go up in value.
00:03:42
Speaker
I mean, look at Stranger Things.
00:03:43
Speaker
Right.
00:03:44
Speaker
I mean, that game, a premium, you can't get under, what, $9,000 now?
00:03:48
Speaker
Yeah.
00:03:49
Speaker
10, 10, 11, somewhere on there.
00:03:50
Speaker
Yeah.
00:03:50
Speaker
It's insane.
00:03:52
Speaker
So the other one, what's the other one?
00:03:54
Speaker
Oh, what is the other one?
00:03:56
Speaker
Elvira.
00:03:58
Speaker
You're right.
00:03:59
Speaker
Yeah.
00:03:59
Speaker
Yeah.
00:04:00
Speaker
Okay.
00:04:00
Speaker
And okay.
00:04:01
Speaker
That is actually one of the two that I don't, I wasn't really thinking of James Bond because so Elvira.
00:04:07
Speaker
Yeah.
00:04:08
Speaker
Elvira is not really going to fit in my house.
00:04:11
Speaker
For family reasons.
00:04:12
Speaker
I don't know if it's necessary.
00:04:13
Speaker
It's a great game.
00:04:14
Speaker
It really is.
00:04:14
Speaker
If you haven't played Elvira, get out, play it.
00:04:16
Speaker
It's fine.
00:04:18
Speaker
It's fine.
00:04:19
Speaker
It's just the theme is not for my family.
00:04:22
Speaker
And they totally know that, right?
00:04:25
Speaker
You know, because you don't want to have to explain to your kids when you plunge the ball and it lands in the back door of the house.
00:04:30
Speaker
She says, well, I'm going to cut out what she says.
00:04:34
Speaker
Yeah.
00:04:38
Speaker
Oh my goodness.
00:04:39
Speaker
But hey, people love it.
00:04:41
Speaker
It's a great game.
00:04:42
Speaker
It's got great humor.
00:04:44
Speaker
I just, I don't think it's super appropriate for the family.
00:04:48
Speaker
It depends on your family.

Family-Friendly Game Themes

00:04:50
Speaker
It's just a, it's, it's a targeted audience.
00:04:53
Speaker
Yeah.
00:04:53
Speaker
There's nothing wrong with that.
00:04:55
Speaker
Here's the hint.
00:04:55
Speaker
Be proud.
00:04:57
Speaker
Here's the hint on the other one.
00:04:59
Speaker
I was initially on the list for an L E of this and I backed out.
00:05:07
Speaker
Oh my goodness.
00:05:09
Speaker
Originally on an LA.
00:05:10
Speaker
Oh, so wait, you didn't order this one from, oh wait, I want to say Jurassic Park.
00:05:17
Speaker
No, I own Jurassic Park.
00:05:18
Speaker
I know, but you never ordered it directly from Zach.
00:05:21
Speaker
You bought it secondhand.
00:05:21
Speaker
Okay, right.
00:05:23
Speaker
That's true, but I still own it.
00:05:26
Speaker
I'm not going to buy another one.
00:05:27
Speaker
Okay.
00:05:29
Speaker
Okay.
00:05:30
Speaker
This was my dream theme.
00:05:31
Speaker
And once I saw it, I wasn't that interested.
00:05:36
Speaker
Star Wars.
00:05:37
Speaker
Oh, I went and I played my friend Star Wars.
00:05:41
Speaker
He got Nelly and he had two games at the time that were fairly new.
00:05:48
Speaker
Star Wars Ellie, which looks really pretty.
00:05:51
Speaker
I actually I thought the both art styles were actually favorable to the game.
00:05:56
Speaker
Um, but he also had attack from Mars downstairs and I played attack from Mars the entire night.
00:06:02
Speaker
I played star Wars like once or twice.
00:06:05
Speaker
So I, I've never, I have yet to feel that I want to own a star Wars.
00:06:12
Speaker
Gotcha.

Home Renovations and Family Time

00:06:13
Speaker
Gotcha.
00:06:13
Speaker
Gotcha.
00:06:15
Speaker
Which is sad because I do love the theme.
00:06:17
Speaker
Well, I haven't really, I usually don't honestly order much from Stern.
00:06:22
Speaker
Maybe I just don't order much, period.
00:06:25
Speaker
I don't know.
00:06:25
Speaker
Maybe I do.
00:06:26
Speaker
I don't know.
00:06:27
Speaker
I ordered a lot.
00:06:27
Speaker
I, I am to the point with though, where if one goes in, at least one has to go out.
00:06:32
Speaker
Oh yeah.
00:06:34
Speaker
Possibly one or two.
00:06:35
Speaker
So right now my entire house is torn up because we are going through renovations.
00:06:40
Speaker
So four of my machines are actually folded up in the garage and shrink wrapped.
00:06:45
Speaker
Yeah.
00:06:45
Speaker
So tell us, tell us about what's going on.
00:06:47
Speaker
Obviously what your last two weeks is.
00:06:49
Speaker
Yeah.
00:06:49
Speaker
So it's just been super crazy.
00:06:51
Speaker
We, um,
00:06:54
Speaker
Well, we, and by we, I mean my wife, decided that she wanted to do some renovations on the house, which is totally fine.
00:07:02
Speaker
It's a 2006 house, so there seems to be some things that need to be freshened up.
00:07:10
Speaker
And we had contacts with a contractor and a designer.
00:07:15
Speaker
And they came up with the design and basically we're redoing the entire main level of the house.
00:07:20
Speaker
So I haven't had time to do much in the last two weeks other than completely pack away or throw away stuff that we don't need.
00:07:29
Speaker
That's always fun too.
00:07:30
Speaker
Like your wife's like, do we keep this?
00:07:32
Speaker
And you're like, uh, yeah, actually it was, it was kind of therapeutic because it was like, you know what?
00:07:37
Speaker
I don't need it.
00:07:38
Speaker
I haven't needed it.
00:07:39
Speaker
So it's gone.
00:07:41
Speaker
I don't know about you and your family, but my wife is like, have you used it in the last six months?
00:07:45
Speaker
It's like, uh, is there any like emotional attachment?
00:07:50
Speaker
Like it's a family heirloom.
00:07:52
Speaker
You know what I'm saying?
00:07:53
Speaker
Well, ironically, the only thing that was broken was,
00:07:59
Speaker
Was a curio cabinet that was my mom's that had all this fancy glass in it.
00:08:04
Speaker
And that's the only thing they dropped and broke almost every piece of glass in there.
00:08:12
Speaker
So we're like, well, it is what it is.
00:08:15
Speaker
So that's what's going on in my house.
00:08:18
Speaker
We are basement dwellers for the next six months.
00:08:22
Speaker
At least you've got a nice enough basement that you can dwell down there.
00:08:25
Speaker
Yeah, it has 10 machines.
00:08:27
Speaker
uh my last two weeks have been what has been my last two weeks been mine's mostly mostly focusing on flipping the script which we'll talk about later uh i got rid of johnny i can't remember if that was gone last time we talked you talked you talked about it yeah okay so johnny and earthshaker are both gone and i've upgraded to guardians of the galaxy i got the call fedex is bringing it tomorrow
00:08:50
Speaker
like I said, anywhere from nine to four.
00:08:52
Speaker
So good thing my wife doesn't have a job because someone's got to be home to receive it, I guess.
00:08:57
Speaker
Uh, other than that, we, we had my father-in-law's birthday party here.
00:09:02
Speaker
Always a blast having the family over to play some pinball, play cards.
00:09:06
Speaker
Uh, my wife makes homemade stewed tomatoes and then she then incorporates that into, uh,
00:09:13
Speaker
a sauce she makes for what we call smother burritos.
00:09:17
Speaker
It's imagine a salsa mixed with like a stew tomato.
00:09:22
Speaker
And then she adds in like olives and pork chops and mushrooms.
00:09:26
Speaker
And it's just this delicious sauce that you pour over the top of your burrito.
00:09:29
Speaker
And we, it's a special treat cause we don't get it very often.
00:09:33
Speaker
So she did that yesterday.
00:09:35
Speaker
Delicious.
00:09:36
Speaker
I bet Bill Webb's drooling.
00:09:37
Speaker
I know he loves his burritos, man.
00:09:39
Speaker
You got to come out.
00:09:39
Speaker
We'll make you smother burrito sometime.
00:09:41
Speaker
Yeah, other than that, it's been focusing on the kids.
00:09:49
Speaker
Fall break was last week.
00:09:50
Speaker
I think that was for you guys as well, right?
00:09:52
Speaker
It was, but we spent all our time cleaning.
00:09:55
Speaker
Yeah, and ours was, we went to like the corn maze.
00:09:58
Speaker
We have those here.
00:09:59
Speaker
It was fun.
00:10:00
Speaker
We used to have them all in Highland too, but they, because all the building boom, it has completely taken away all the cornfields.
00:10:09
Speaker
really oh yeah we don't have any cornfields here anymore it's funny because we go to the corn maze right and my twins that are three and a half decided that they were more addicted to the zip line and weren't anything else so it's like we spent the money to get in just to i to write a zip line hey but the kids had fun yeah they had fun so but yeah that's that's been my last couple weeks that's
00:10:33
Speaker
I guess when you're a family man, you do what the family wants

Anniversaries and Celebrations

00:10:37
Speaker
to do, right?
00:10:37
Speaker
You can.
00:10:38
Speaker
Yeah, exactly.
00:10:39
Speaker
So, Hey, I want to, speaking of a family man, I want to give a shout out to Tim Lee and his wife, Amy Lee for, was it 20 wonderful years of marriage?
00:10:49
Speaker
I mean, it was a big one, 20 or 25.
00:10:52
Speaker
They went and celebrated and it looks like they had a,
00:10:55
Speaker
a lot of fun going to like Rochester collective pinball, um, and just kind of go into the East coast.
00:11:02
Speaker
So congratulations to them.
00:11:04
Speaker
Speaking of family.
00:11:04
Speaker
Should we get into some of the news?
00:11:08
Speaker
Yeah.
00:11:09
Speaker
Um, is there news?

Pinball Expo Preparations

00:11:11
Speaker
There hasn't been much.
00:11:12
Speaker
Uh, uh, apparently we'll be able to, we'll talk about this, but, um, pinball brothers are bringing over queen.
00:11:20
Speaker
Yeah.
00:11:20
Speaker
They, they announced it today.
00:11:22
Speaker
Well, they gave a teaser post, uh,
00:11:25
Speaker
A shrink wrap machine that you can see queen through and they're like, we have no idea what's in this, but it's coming to expo with, uh, they've done that.
00:11:34
Speaker
Um, what else do we, what else did we say?
00:11:37
Speaker
There's, there really hasn't been much.
00:11:39
Speaker
The thing is, it's like bond.
00:11:41
Speaker
We're in this like really weird, like bonds been revealed ish for the most part.
00:11:46
Speaker
I know that the live streams tomorrow we're recording on Monday, the 17th.
00:11:50
Speaker
So by the time you hear this, they probably already shown the stream of it.
00:11:54
Speaker
Um,
00:11:56
Speaker
It's weird because Americans are on the hot seat because we keep hearing about Galactic Tank Force.
00:12:03
Speaker
Dennis from Eclectic Gamers, Dennis and Tony on Rumor Corner said that it's a possibility CGC has finished Pulp Fiction and we might see that this week.
00:12:14
Speaker
So that could be awesome.
00:12:17
Speaker
I mean, there's, we're in a Spider-Man standoff, you know, with the imposters and we're just waiting for someone to shoot their webs.
00:12:25
Speaker
Trying to figure out.
00:12:26
Speaker
Exactly.
00:12:27
Speaker
Exactly.
00:12:29
Speaker
But we've, we've had some confirmations over the last week.
00:12:32
Speaker
It's nice.
00:12:32
Speaker
Bond will be at expo.
00:12:33
Speaker
At least that's what Jack danger announced via his streaming page on Facebook.
00:12:40
Speaker
Queenie.
00:12:41
Speaker
It's going to be there from Pinball Brothers.
00:12:44
Speaker
Magic Girl, I know this was announced a while ago, but they're getting their own whole booth just for Magic Girl.
00:12:49
Speaker
So it's going to be interesting what they have set up there.
00:12:50
Speaker
I'll be interested to see how that thing plays because they obviously had to do some significant modifications to make that a playing game because the way that it was initially set up, it was not playable.
00:13:03
Speaker
But let's get into Expo really quick.
00:13:06
Speaker
Wednesday, it sounds like you're getting in Wednesday.
00:13:07
Speaker
I'm getting in Wednesday.
00:13:09
Speaker
Yep.
00:13:09
Speaker
Most of the crew's getting in on Wednesday, it sounds like.
00:13:12
Speaker
It sounds like a lot of people.
00:13:13
Speaker
And that night, there'll be some people setting up or vendors set up.
00:13:20
Speaker
There's going to be a bumper blast welcoming party at Interium.
00:13:26
Speaker
Yep.
00:13:27
Speaker
So I'm hoping to stop by there.
00:13:30
Speaker
It sounds like a great location.
00:13:32
Speaker
Yeah.
00:13:32
Speaker
I definitely want to see some of the...
00:13:35
Speaker
the establishments outside of my home state because there's some really good ones out there.
00:13:41
Speaker
Definitely.
00:13:42
Speaker
galloping ghost is there as well i don't know they usually have something going on during chicago yeah they as well and they're they're one of the few that actually have uh one of those predator predator machines yeah complete with dangling skull and spine bones i know that's just creepy it's awesome that is that is quite the uh it is it is uh engagement with the game so yeah
00:14:07
Speaker
So yeah, you get in Wednesday, you're getting in around about noon.
00:14:09
Speaker
I'm getting around five-ish.
00:14:12
Speaker
Yeah.
00:14:13
Speaker
My wife and my mother-in-law are coming with me.
00:14:15
Speaker
They're coming to support Flipping the Script on Autism.
00:14:18
Speaker
I think I'm pretty much just setting up.
00:14:21
Speaker
Depending on what's gone on with Zach and George, we're right next to Flipping Out Spoof.
00:14:26
Speaker
We've seen the map, by the way.
00:14:28
Speaker
I know this hasn't been posted publicly, but we're right next to Stern.
00:14:31
Speaker
We're just north of them.
00:14:32
Speaker
I think that's north.
00:14:35
Speaker
If you've been to Expo before, when you walk through the double doors, if you remember where Stern was at, they were on the far right side.
00:14:40
Speaker
We're just a little bit past them.
00:14:42
Speaker
I haven't seen one of the tournament areas either.
00:14:44
Speaker
Tournament area is upstairs, remember?
00:14:46
Speaker
Oh, yes.
00:14:47
Speaker
They actually have that set up upstairs.
00:14:48
Speaker
Last time, they had...
00:14:51
Speaker
uh kind of a curtained area that was separated from the vendor area so i believe it's in a completely different location this time well they were having issues with people sneaking in through the curtain yeah into the vendor area i think that's one of the main reasons they moved the tournament area upstairs is so that way they wouldn't have more controlled access yeah exactly thursday
00:15:15
Speaker
So Thursday, we are, we're pretty booked.

Flipping the Script Fundraiser

00:15:18
Speaker
10 AM to 10 PM.
00:15:21
Speaker
We've got flipping the script.
00:15:22
Speaker
This is Josh's brainchild that he started for, for autism.
00:15:29
Speaker
And there's an autism center that is by Josh that his son actually goes to.
00:15:35
Speaker
This is not a fundraiser for Josh's son.
00:15:37
Speaker
It's actually a fundraiser for the location.
00:15:41
Speaker
But this is something that he feels very strongly about and to be able to help out this facility that, you know, sadly, a lot of these type of resources are underfunded.
00:15:53
Speaker
Yes.
00:15:55
Speaker
That's the bottom line.
00:15:56
Speaker
And a lot of people are in get a weird donut hole situation where they have to pay thousands of dollars really even before their insurance kicks in.
00:16:05
Speaker
When we discussed with Sarah Foster, the owner and operator of Learning Solutions, and Justin Benson, the facility gentleman that's over everything, and he'll actually be with us there on Thursday, we found out that their ultimate goal is $25,000.
00:16:21
Speaker
And the reason being is they have 31 kids on a waiting list.
00:16:27
Speaker
if you're not familiar with the process of being diagnosed for autism, it is a long, emotional, tedious, year-plus venture.
00:16:37
Speaker
And it's expensive.
00:16:39
Speaker
And so 31 kids...
00:16:41
Speaker
are on that list.
00:16:42
Speaker
They need some money to take care of that.
00:16:44
Speaker
Sarah said that 25,000 should take care of these 31 kids.
00:16:48
Speaker
It will take care of, not should, it will take care of them and they'll be able to get the diagnosis.
00:16:53
Speaker
So the insurance will kick in so they can start getting the therapies and stuff that they need.
00:16:58
Speaker
So all the money is actually not even going to learning solutions is going directly to these kids.
00:17:02
Speaker
Basically it's a scholarship program.
00:17:03
Speaker
Yeah, definitely.
00:17:05
Speaker
If you're in, you're well aware of how charities and stuff work, Scott, because you've done yours with,
00:17:10
Speaker
Yeah, it's, it's hard.
00:17:13
Speaker
It's hard because trying to find the best way of raising the money, but making it as transparent as possible to make sure I, in my heart, I believe that people are willing to give to charities as long as they feel that what they're giving is utilized in the way they want it to be.
00:17:36
Speaker
So that's the reason why we set there.
00:17:38
Speaker
Well, Josh set this up.
00:17:40
Speaker
So the money passes directly to them.
00:17:44
Speaker
Like we're not collecting it and then distributing it.
00:17:46
Speaker
It's going to them.
00:17:48
Speaker
Yep.
00:17:49
Speaker
Is Ari going to go, it's set up in a bank that is going directly to these families and paying those medical expenses.
00:17:57
Speaker
And it actually goes to a board.
00:17:59
Speaker
That board then all has to sign off on that money going to the medical expenses.
00:18:06
Speaker
People are willing to give money if it's utilized for the right reasons.
00:18:11
Speaker
And you guys are the ones that went out on all of this.
00:18:13
Speaker
I mean, it's a great cause.
00:18:15
Speaker
You're helping the future of these children.
00:18:18
Speaker
And there are some wonderful items up for auction.
00:18:20
Speaker
We had to shift the schedule.
00:18:21
Speaker
Do you want to talk about the latest edition?
00:18:25
Speaker
Guest-wise or item-wise?
00:18:26
Speaker
No, the latest edition for item-wise.
00:18:30
Speaker
Ken sent us over.
00:18:31
Speaker
Two foot by three foot, not in this lifetime, Guns N' Roses posters signed by Slash.
00:18:38
Speaker
Yeah.
00:18:38
Speaker
So I got that up.
00:18:40
Speaker
Yesterday, somewhere around there.
00:18:43
Speaker
And yeah, this thing looks pretty awesome.
00:18:46
Speaker
Yeah.
00:18:47
Speaker
Again, what an awesome, what an awesome donation.
00:18:50
Speaker
We, we are, I'm blown away by how willing the, the manufacturers and, and all the supporters were willing to contribute to this because we, it's not like I have $10,000 worth of swag to give away.
00:19:10
Speaker
I mean, I've got some hats and I got other stuff that I can do, but for them to step up and give their personal, uh, well, their, their company, their personal merchandise for us to auction off.
00:19:22
Speaker
It, it really is overwhelming.
00:19:23
Speaker
Definitely.
00:19:24
Speaker
And it's crazy too.
00:19:25
Speaker
Like once we actually started the auction and it went live, uh,
00:19:29
Speaker
We had a ton more people step up and say, hey, here's more stuff.
00:19:32
Speaker
Here's more stuff.
00:19:33
Speaker
We more than doubled the items that we already had.
00:19:36
Speaker
It's crazy.
00:19:37
Speaker
It's been awesome.
00:19:38
Speaker
How do we find the auction?
00:19:40
Speaker
32 auctions.
00:19:41
Speaker
That's with an S dot com slash flipping the script.
00:19:45
Speaker
Make sure you don't put a G in there with flipping.
00:19:48
Speaker
So that should take you right there.
00:19:51
Speaker
Take you to our homepage.
00:19:52
Speaker
Show you our goal.
00:19:54
Speaker
I just barely logged in.
00:19:56
Speaker
And yes, flip in the script, like flipping out pinball.
00:20:00
Speaker
um the uh but so far we have 7 300 committed yeah and that is really unbelievable 68 items there's some stuff that hasn't been bid on yet uh there's a really cool rick and morty portal gun plunger if you haven't seen this thing it's like literally having the portal gun from the tv show attached to your pinball machine it is pretty sweet
00:20:25
Speaker
Okay, you can also get the American Girl flip side pinball machine.
00:20:29
Speaker
Yes.
00:20:30
Speaker
So you can get a real pinball machine.
00:20:33
Speaker
So there are some things that I definitely will be bidding on.
00:20:38
Speaker
Yeah, I keep looking at the list.
00:20:39
Speaker
I'm like, I want this.
00:20:40
Speaker
I don't want this.
00:20:42
Speaker
I'll buy that.
00:20:43
Speaker
I'll buy that.
00:20:44
Speaker
Exactly.

Guest Lineup for the Event

00:20:45
Speaker
And it all goes to a great cost.
00:20:46
Speaker
As far as the schedule goes, let's hurry and talk lineup really quick.
00:20:49
Speaker
I think this is pretty much cemented in place at this point.
00:20:52
Speaker
We're going to start off the party with the poor men, Drew and Rachel.
00:20:57
Speaker
And with them, we have Josh Sharpe.
00:21:01
Speaker
he is going to come in it's going to be talking to me about some cgc may some code raw thrills we're going to have a pinball machine set up play some pinball you know josh just took second in the tournament that they did last weekend
00:21:17
Speaker
i want him to bring his championship belt and show that thing off because for all the second place talk this man has literally like the wrestling championship belt right that he has won and i'm like if you did that more you get more people in the competitive pinball right yeah and forget a trophy to be fair he would also destroy 99 of the people out there that he would play against exactly
00:21:40
Speaker
So we have them up first.
00:21:42
Speaker
Actually, we'll do an introduction first.
00:21:44
Speaker
We'll probably introduce not only ourselves, but some of the people that are involved and some of the people that have donated.
00:21:51
Speaker
Then from noon to 1.30, it's yours truly.
00:21:55
Speaker
And we're going to be with Steve Bowden.
00:21:58
Speaker
I'm excited for this.
00:21:59
Speaker
Steve's a great guy.
00:22:01
Speaker
He has a lot of wealth of knowledge.
00:22:04
Speaker
It's going to be interesting to talk about him, an American, and transitioning into a company like that.
00:22:09
Speaker
Yeah.
00:22:10
Speaker
I've wanted this guy on the show for a while and he was kind enough to find the right time because it's not that we all know his story, right?
00:22:25
Speaker
It's, it's you know, working through deep root and for him to have such a passion for pinball and be able to find a next phase when we all know what happened to deep root.
00:22:38
Speaker
I'm super happy for Steve.
00:22:41
Speaker
He's such a positive influence and a great player.
00:22:44
Speaker
And I don't know of anybody who has a negative thing to say about him.
00:22:48
Speaker
Yeah.
00:22:48
Speaker
Steve is a great dude.
00:22:49
Speaker
So I'm excited.
00:22:51
Speaker
Um,
00:22:52
Speaker
After that, Amanda Hamilton, she might have Bill with her.
00:22:55
Speaker
I know it's Free Play Pinball Podcast, but she is going to have Keith Elwin on.
00:23:01
Speaker
None other than the goat himself.
00:23:03
Speaker
She had to get special permission from us to allow Keith to come on.
00:23:09
Speaker
And I heard it's not just Keith that's going to be joining her.
00:23:12
Speaker
We might have another special guest, and she's got some epic stuff planned.
00:23:16
Speaker
Really?
00:23:17
Speaker
Worst case scenario, she ends up just playing pinball with him.
00:23:21
Speaker
Yeah.
00:23:22
Speaker
Well, okay.
00:23:22
Speaker
So she'll be playing 5% of the time.
00:23:25
Speaker
Keith will be playing 95% of the time.
00:23:27
Speaker
Exactly.
00:23:28
Speaker
Just like Keith would.
00:23:30
Speaker
We're going to see the end of the game.
00:23:33
Speaker
So, but I was told maybe some Pictionary might be involved with an artist that we all love and know.
00:23:40
Speaker
I don't know.
00:23:40
Speaker
Well, we'll see what happens.
00:23:41
Speaker
We'll see.
00:23:43
Speaker
After those shenanigans, we've got Craig Bobby with Eric Meniere.
00:23:47
Speaker
This is Craig's first time to Expo.
00:23:51
Speaker
Wait, I thought Craig was like the stern correspondent.
00:23:54
Speaker
He is the stern correspondent.
00:23:55
Speaker
So this is kind of like his... This is like an unholy union.
00:23:58
Speaker
Exactly.
00:24:00
Speaker
No, so Craig actually does all the news now.
00:24:03
Speaker
Yeah, that's true.
00:24:04
Speaker
He took over the whole thing.
00:24:05
Speaker
Yeah.
00:24:07
Speaker
So what Guns N' Roses song can Craig do?
00:24:12
Speaker
Okay, that's even worse than mine.
00:24:17
Speaker
And mine was pretty bad.
00:24:18
Speaker
What's he going to do?
00:24:18
Speaker
Like...
00:24:19
Speaker
Welcome to the jungle.
00:24:21
Speaker
And I've been told there's going to be more than just Eric there, but we'll see.
00:24:31
Speaker
He is bringing, if you haven't checked out the site, he is bringing a sweet, unprinted play field of Guns N' Roses.
00:24:36
Speaker
They're going to sign it and personalize it and write all over this thing through the winter.
00:24:42
Speaker
I love these, like I love the Whitewoods that have, or sorry, I love the play fields that have the
00:24:49
Speaker
art on them and everything but there's something so cool about seeing um a a naked play field yes because you get to see oh my gosh this is the manufacturing this is how it goes into it it's really impressive and then from 4 30 to 6 don't panic flip this is george fisher
00:25:11
Speaker
He's going to be hanging out with Dwight Sullivan and Jerry Thompson.
00:25:15
Speaker
If you're a Harry Potter fan, I'm told you're not going to want to miss this because George and Dwight both have a love for Harry Potter that is unmatched.
00:25:24
Speaker
So there might be some trivia.
00:25:26
Speaker
I don't know.
00:25:26
Speaker
We'll check it out.
00:25:28
Speaker
Dwight always has trivia.
00:25:29
Speaker
Yes.

Roger Sharp Biopic and Legacy

00:25:31
Speaker
6 to 7.30, no coin drop required.
00:25:34
Speaker
Jen Rupert, and she gets to interview the legend himself, Roger Sharp.
00:25:40
Speaker
Wow.
00:25:40
Speaker
Which, uh, his movie was fantastic.
00:25:44
Speaker
If you haven't seen it, tell me about the movie.
00:25:45
Speaker
I, I have been so busy the last two weeks.
00:25:48
Speaker
I have not been able to watch it.
00:25:49
Speaker
So if you're a T.O.L.S.
00:25:50
Speaker
skip ahead, uh, cause I know that anything, any kind of spoiler does not rub him the right way.
00:25:58
Speaker
Even if you say it's good or bad or indifferent, right?
00:26:01
Speaker
So this is the, that was your warning.
00:26:04
Speaker
I thought it was fantastic.
00:26:06
Speaker
Uh, I'm not, I'm not going to spoil it with what happens in the court because none of us know what happened back in 1976.
00:26:13
Speaker
Right?
00:26:14
Speaker
No, it was, it was a wonderful balance between him and his wife and them in their dating life and him trying to balance that was with pinball and his job at GQ.
00:26:26
Speaker
And it was really, really well done.
00:26:30
Speaker
I don't know how else to put it.
00:26:31
Speaker
The humor was fantastic.
00:26:33
Speaker
It felt very, it's a success story.
00:26:36
Speaker
Anybody can look at Roger and know what an unqualified success he has been in pinball where he has been able to make it marketable and bring his passion and his experience to pinball.
00:26:52
Speaker
and really take it to the next level.
00:26:54
Speaker
I, I still think about the documentary I saw, it's called the way of the puck and people who were fanatics about air hockey and, and they were, they had the same level of passion, but just not the same like commercial success because once you buy an air hockey machine, that's it, you got it.
00:27:13
Speaker
Like you're not buying a new one.
00:27:15
Speaker
I, I have purchased probably 20, 25 pinball machines because each machine brings its own life.
00:27:22
Speaker
Yep.
00:27:23
Speaker
So it's, it's so awesome that Roger was able to do to, to get both of those, because that's pretty rare to find your passion and your dream job.
00:27:33
Speaker
And that's, that's what Roger had.
00:27:36
Speaker
Well, what I loved about this too, is, is we usually see Roger as a very charismatic, wonderful guy that knows what always to say.
00:27:44
Speaker
Right.
00:27:45
Speaker
And in this movie, it was kind of like,
00:27:49
Speaker
He's starting out in a world he doesn't know, and he doesn't know exactly what to say.
00:27:53
Speaker
And I've never got the perception that he necessarily didn't want to do the court stuff.
00:28:00
Speaker
But he was asked to very nicely by the MAA, which was based in New York.
00:28:06
Speaker
And so it's about that.
00:28:09
Speaker
If you know about the Roger Sharp tapes, when he went and interviewed all these people, they were starting to release them via Coast to Coast when he was wrapping everything up.
00:28:22
Speaker
Those were the actual tapes that they talk about in this movie.
00:28:25
Speaker
It's just, it's, it's amazing.
00:28:27
Speaker
It's, it's really good.
00:28:28
Speaker
What I liked about it is, so I had my wife watch it and I didn't sit over her.
00:28:32
Speaker
She, she took her on time and watched it herself.
00:28:35
Speaker
And by the end of, I said, what'd you think?
00:28:37
Speaker
She's like, I really liked it.
00:28:38
Speaker
It didn't feel like they were forcing pinball history on me.
00:28:42
Speaker
It was an actual story and it didn't feel like a Hallmark special.
00:28:46
Speaker
You know, the Hallmark specials.
00:28:47
Speaker
Yeah.
00:28:47
Speaker
Yeah.
00:28:48
Speaker
It's, it seems just a little too sappy sweet.
00:28:53
Speaker
Well, not only that, but like, even the, like the filmography is almost like nineties cameras.
00:28:57
Speaker
Like we never really did update and it's a little cheesy with the green screens.
00:29:02
Speaker
None of that was this.
00:29:04
Speaker
The, it was, it was a solidly good made movie.
00:29:09
Speaker
This felt like I could have, they could have put it in the theaters across the nation and it felt like it belonged there kind of thing.
00:29:16
Speaker
Yeah.
00:29:16
Speaker
Kind of mockumentary, not mockumentary, but when I say mockumentary, I think of like modern family.
00:29:21
Speaker
Yeah.
00:29:21
Speaker
I feel like that modern family kind of style.
00:29:24
Speaker
The older Roger Sharpe's kind of narrating throughout his younger life.
00:29:28
Speaker
There's just some great moments with that too as well.
00:29:30
Speaker
Yeah.
00:29:31
Speaker
I think if you're a pinball fan, you're gonna love it.
00:29:33
Speaker
If you're not a pinball fan, I really do think you'll enjoy this movie.
00:29:36
Speaker
You'll enjoy it anyway, which is where you're gonna find the extra people, right?
00:29:41
Speaker
Yeah.
00:29:41
Speaker
Because this is where, there's those margins, the middle, the swing voters that you need to win over.
00:29:49
Speaker
If you're worried about rating, I would put this movie at a PG, maybe PG-13.
00:29:54
Speaker
I can't really remember any swear words that really stood out to me.
00:29:59
Speaker
There's even a joke made at that expense in the movie.
00:30:02
Speaker
But...
00:30:03
Speaker
I think if it's safe to say, if you listen to us, you're going to be fine.
00:30:08
Speaker
Yep, exactly.
00:30:10
Speaker
So Jen's excited.
00:30:12
Speaker
She's ecstatic.
00:30:13
Speaker
I think they just did a movie to hang out and just be around there just so I can, I'm going to bring my pinball book.
00:30:18
Speaker
I need you to remind me.
00:30:19
Speaker
So I need to go grab that too.
00:30:23
Speaker
And then 7.30 to 9.00, this is our headliner, Zach Mene with Mark

Event Headliners and Expectations

00:30:31
Speaker
Silk, the one, the only.
00:30:33
Speaker
Mark is one of the funniest men that I've ever talked to.
00:30:38
Speaker
He has so much energy.
00:30:40
Speaker
And if he were not a professional voice actor, he could have been a professional comedian.
00:30:46
Speaker
Legitimately, the guy is that funny.
00:30:49
Speaker
Oh, yeah.
00:30:50
Speaker
He's fantastic.
00:30:51
Speaker
And it's funny.
00:30:52
Speaker
We asked him to do this months ago.
00:30:54
Speaker
I just said, hey, I don't know if you're coming to Expo.
00:30:56
Speaker
This is what I got going on.
00:30:57
Speaker
He's like, I'll be there.
00:30:59
Speaker
I was like, well, you don't have to come if you don't.
00:31:02
Speaker
He's like, no.
00:31:02
Speaker
He's like, consider me in.
00:31:04
Speaker
Mark's so great on him.
00:31:07
Speaker
Yeah, I was blown away when he โ€“ yeah.
00:31:10
Speaker
And so I'm excited.
00:31:12
Speaker
Zach and Mark both have great personalities.
00:31:14
Speaker
They're going to be quite the charismatic pair together.
00:31:17
Speaker
So it's going to be interesting to see.
00:31:19
Speaker
how that goes.
00:31:21
Speaker
And then we're gonna wrap everything up with me and you and Justin Benson of Learning Solutions.
00:31:26
Speaker
We're gonna take the last hour on that one.
00:31:30
Speaker
All these interviews are about an hour and a half long.
00:31:31
Speaker
So the last hour is just going to be us kind of going over where the auction sits at and kind of talk about learning solutions.
00:31:40
Speaker
It might not be 100% just us and Justin.
00:31:43
Speaker
We'll see what happens.
00:31:44
Speaker
But that'll be kind of wrap-up hour.
00:31:46
Speaker
And the nice part about Expo is it goes on for another two hours.
00:31:49
Speaker
So if you win your prizes...
00:31:51
Speaker
When you auctions, you can swing by.
00:31:53
Speaker
You should be able to grab most items, or we can get you arranged to pick them up if you're in Chicago or whatever we need to do.
00:32:01
Speaker
Pretty solid schedule, though.
00:32:02
Speaker
I posted this to the group.
00:32:03
Speaker
We have about 20 people in.
00:32:07
Speaker
Someone pointed out they love the diversity of this.
00:32:10
Speaker
There's people from all backgrounds and groups.
00:32:13
Speaker
Right.
00:32:15
Speaker
It's not your stereotypical middle-aged bald chubby white male.
00:32:20
Speaker
I've got that demographic.
00:32:22
Speaker
So we got that covered.
00:32:23
Speaker
We got that.
00:32:24
Speaker
Um, we get, so I, I'm, but I'm glad that it's been able to say, you know what?
00:32:30
Speaker
We really want to bring people together for a common cause.
00:32:35
Speaker
Yep.
00:32:36
Speaker
And it really has brought a lot of people together.
00:32:39
Speaker
A lot.
00:32:41
Speaker
And I'm very humbled at the community, at the industry, at the friends that we've made.
00:32:48
Speaker
This is just, it's been amazing.
00:32:51
Speaker
And I can't wait for Thursday.
00:32:52
Speaker
I mean, we're Monday night and man, I just, Wednesday cannot get here soon enough so I can get on that airplane.
00:32:58
Speaker
So that's, that's mainly our Thursday.

Expo Tours and Layout

00:33:01
Speaker
If you don't want to watch us for 12 hours, there is the JJP tour.
00:33:06
Speaker
Yep.
00:33:07
Speaker
I'm excited.
00:33:09
Speaker
We're going to try to figure out how we can get a tour.
00:33:11
Speaker
I'm not sure if it'll jive with the schedule, but it's, it's a great opportunity.
00:33:19
Speaker
If you're there on Thursday, what a great way of seeing like up close and personal how manufacturing works.
00:33:28
Speaker
So it should be great.
00:33:29
Speaker
I would definitely check that out.
00:33:31
Speaker
And I'm, again, I'm so glad they have updated their format.
00:33:35
Speaker
that the expo hall opens at 12 noon.
00:33:41
Speaker
And it closes at midnight.
00:33:44
Speaker
And so that is 12 hours of everything.
00:33:48
Speaker
And including like, uh, there are, are speakers that are going on.
00:33:53
Speaker
There's, um, there's the battle of the bells women's tournament too.
00:33:59
Speaker
Uh, there's a pinball expo world cup tournament.
00:34:02
Speaker
And so there's all these other things that are going on too.
00:34:05
Speaker
It's, it's a full day.
00:34:06
Speaker
It's not like you're waiting around last year.
00:34:09
Speaker
Um, they, they had a segregated, they had like a free play area.
00:34:13
Speaker
And on the other side, they had, uh,
00:34:15
Speaker
They had the vendor area.
00:34:17
Speaker
The vendor area.
00:34:18
Speaker
It is mixed and mingled.
00:34:19
Speaker
It is together like it is at Texas Pinball Festival.
00:34:22
Speaker
Which is a better format.
00:34:23
Speaker
Oh, yeah.
00:34:24
Speaker
It's a much better format.
00:34:25
Speaker
So you won't have to wait for five or six hours just to get in to play some of that vendor stuff and only get to play it for four hours or whatever it might be.
00:34:34
Speaker
Again, they took feedback to heart.
00:34:37
Speaker
Yep.
00:34:38
Speaker
And explore all of Expo.
00:34:39
Speaker
So what we've got going on Friday, we've got the virtual tour with Stern.
00:34:42
Speaker
I know that.
00:34:43
Speaker
Don't sleep on that one.
00:34:44
Speaker
That one's fantastic.
00:34:45
Speaker
That was fun.
00:34:47
Speaker
It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
00:34:51
Speaker
Yeah.
00:34:52
Speaker
Because Jack was able to go into different areas that we wouldn't have been able to go to.
00:34:59
Speaker
So that was, that was an interesting take on it.
00:35:02
Speaker
I still, at some point would like to do the Stern in-person tour, but it was a good alternative.
00:35:10
Speaker
Plenty of, I think expo even opens up earlier on Friday.
00:35:13
Speaker
Yep.
00:35:15
Speaker
Friday it's a 10 AM.
00:35:17
Speaker
Awesome.
00:35:18
Speaker
Yeah.
00:35:19
Speaker
Closes at midnight again.
00:35:21
Speaker
A lot of seminars that are going on.
00:35:24
Speaker
And the one I'm looking forward to a lot is, um,
00:35:29
Speaker
And then Roger Sharp and the man who saved pinball is five

Pinball Olympics and Travel Plans

00:35:33
Speaker
o'clock.
00:35:33
Speaker
So that's one thing I'm earmarking.
00:35:36
Speaker
Then Saturday we have, so you and I signed up again for pinball Olympics.
00:35:43
Speaker
Yes.
00:35:44
Speaker
Noon to four and it will go a little bit over.
00:35:46
Speaker
Yeah.
00:35:48
Speaker
But definitely worth it.
00:35:50
Speaker
So every cent head up there.
00:35:52
Speaker
It's certainly it's awesome.
00:35:54
Speaker
I hear it's sold out, but they're, you know, if you're really looking for that thing, they may be able to figure something out.
00:36:01
Speaker
But anyway, I did hear all 100 tickets were sold out and it's it's a full afternoon of drinks and tacos and weird games.
00:36:12
Speaker
Yep.
00:36:14
Speaker
And when you say weird games, it's not like some randomly made game.
00:36:18
Speaker
No, no.
00:36:18
Speaker
This is like someone took a Metallica and decided to hook up one of the stand-ups to the tilt ball.
00:36:24
Speaker
To a tilt on the other machine.
00:36:26
Speaker
Yeah, because there's still Metallicas.
00:36:28
Speaker
Yeah.
00:36:30
Speaker
It's fantastic.
00:36:32
Speaker
The one I'm looking forward to playing again is the Upside Down Barracora, where you're playing with a mirror.
00:36:37
Speaker
yep the luge yep um oh come on i thought xenon was your favorite yeah no no just don't go past the beaded curtain that is certainly a it's a it's a unique game i would say 99 of their games are very family friendly that one happens to be in the blue area exactly or is that the pink room i can't remember which room it was in but don't
00:37:04
Speaker
If you see a beaded curtain and you're not into that kind of stuff, just do not go pass a beaded curtain.
00:37:09
Speaker
There should be a turntable up in his garage, if I remember correctly.
00:37:12
Speaker
Yeah, and that was TNA last year.
00:37:15
Speaker
Yep.
00:37:16
Speaker
And I was told it gets switched every year, so it won't be just... So I don't know what it'll be this time.
00:37:21
Speaker
Yeah.
00:37:22
Speaker
So a lot of wonderful games.
00:37:24
Speaker
It sounds like you and I are hitching a ride with Amanda and Mike Hamilton.
00:37:27
Speaker
I think so.
00:37:28
Speaker
We're going to tie you to the hood of the car.
00:37:30
Speaker
Okay.
00:37:31
Speaker
So put some antlers on you.
00:37:32
Speaker
I don't know if that's legal in Illinois.
00:37:34
Speaker
I know it's here in Utah.
00:37:36
Speaker
It probably is.
00:37:38
Speaker
And then Sunday's wrap-up day.
00:37:41
Speaker
I know that some people are going to be taken down Saturday night.
00:37:43
Speaker
Tournament will still be going on on Sunday.
00:37:47
Speaker
My flight doesn't leave until 4 on Sunday.
00:37:49
Speaker
Yeah, I'm getting out early.
00:37:51
Speaker
7.30, I'm flying out.
00:37:53
Speaker
So I'll be done.
00:37:53
Speaker
I'll have four full days on Sunday.
00:38:01
Speaker
So it's time to get back home and help out.
00:38:04
Speaker
So what are you looking forward to most?
00:38:06
Speaker
Probably flipping the script.
00:38:08
Speaker
Yes.
00:38:08
Speaker
I'm nervous.
00:38:10
Speaker
I'm excited.
00:38:10
Speaker
I'm anxious.
00:38:11
Speaker
I'm everything when it comes to that, just because it has been six months of putting this thing together and wondering how it's going to look.

Flipping the Script Event and Game Trials

00:38:20
Speaker
Ken Cromwell, JJP, originally a special one lit, just told us have fun.
00:38:24
Speaker
And again, was special with lit.
00:38:26
Speaker
he's kind of calmed my nerves on all this cause he's given a lot, a lot of good advice.
00:38:30
Speaker
Yeah.
00:38:31
Speaker
So Ken's a good guy.
00:38:32
Speaker
Yeah.
00:38:33
Speaker
Um, and if you mess up, it's live TV.
00:38:36
Speaker
So what?
00:38:38
Speaker
So what's the bill O'Reilly?
00:38:40
Speaker
Forget it.
00:38:40
Speaker
We'll do it.
00:38:41
Speaker
Oh yeah.
00:38:41
Speaker
Yeah.
00:38:44
Speaker
We'll do it live.
00:38:45
Speaker
Yeah.
00:38:45
Speaker
We'll do it live.
00:38:46
Speaker
Uh, that's the, such a perfect clip of him.
00:38:53
Speaker
So yeah, that's what I'm looking forward to.
00:38:55
Speaker
What are you looking forward to Scott?
00:38:57
Speaker
Okay.
00:38:57
Speaker
I, I will say absolutely flipping the script.
00:39:02
Speaker
I'm in addition to that and everything we've talked about, I'm really looking forward to James Bond.
00:39:08
Speaker
Yes.
00:39:09
Speaker
Because I am excited to see that game and, and get my hands on it.
00:39:15
Speaker
It's so hard to get a feel for a game when you're just watching the video of it.
00:39:21
Speaker
Yeah.
00:39:22
Speaker
Because, you know, some games may be,
00:39:24
Speaker
awesome to shoot and other games just maybe a clunk fest and it could just be how the game set up, but it will be fun to try that out.
00:39:34
Speaker
So that that is definitely on my target list of I want to I want to play the pro I want to play the premium because there are people who are maybe leaning more toward pro than they would on any other title.
00:39:48
Speaker
Yeah.
00:39:50
Speaker
So there's there may not be significant differences.
00:39:54
Speaker
but I, I still want to experience them both because I anticipate this being a sleeper hip.
00:40:00
Speaker
There is a handful of machines.
00:40:02
Speaker
I do want to try while we're there.
00:40:04
Speaker
I want to make sure we try is it rat race?
00:40:06
Speaker
Oh, that comes to expo every year.
00:40:08
Speaker
Yeah, that was, yeah, it's a, it's kind of like playing, um, Oh, what's that game?
00:40:15
Speaker
Labyrinth.
00:40:16
Speaker
Like in the seventies, you had that tilt thing that was tilted two ways and it would go into a hole.
00:40:23
Speaker
Um,
00:40:24
Speaker
You know, it's like a maze that has these holes.
00:40:26
Speaker
So yeah, rat race.
00:40:27
Speaker
It's a pinball machine, but it's like, it's like, it's a competition.
00:40:31
Speaker
Yeah.
00:40:31
Speaker
It's, it's like a coffee table style too.
00:40:33
Speaker
You have to sit down and the whole play field moves and you're moving it.
00:40:36
Speaker
And so I love playing joust when you have that joust is it's, it's a unique game.
00:40:42
Speaker
I want to try magic girl.
00:40:44
Speaker
Cause you know, Oh yeah.
00:40:45
Speaker
History, history there.
00:40:47
Speaker
I, I want to check out the homebrew section, spend a little more time.
00:40:50
Speaker
I, we felt like we had to rush through it last year.
00:40:54
Speaker
But I want to spend a little more time there.
00:40:56
Speaker
Definitely want to try out Queen and any games that they might reveal.
00:41:04
Speaker
Yeah.
00:41:06
Speaker
And I will bring my recorder like I did at Texas and try to do like three to five minute snapshot interviews.
00:41:14
Speaker
And that could just, that'll be just a compilation show.
00:41:17
Speaker
We're not going to do too much on that, but it's just a little snapshots talking to different people.
00:41:22
Speaker
Yeah.
00:41:24
Speaker
I may all edit a little better this next time.
00:41:27
Speaker
No, it's fine.
00:41:29
Speaker
I really, it was just more of random thoughts that people may or may not have been interested in last time.
00:41:35
Speaker
Yeah.
00:41:36
Speaker
I want to do some really quick shout outs because there has been a lot of people that have come together for flipping the script.

Acknowledgments and Community Engagement

00:41:44
Speaker
I want to give a shout to our sponsors really quick.
00:41:46
Speaker

Speaker
They've made this all possible, and I really appreciate all those that didn't even hesitate when I asked and reached out for help, and those that then, when they saw what was going on, reached out to me and said, we want to help.
00:42:25
Speaker
So, I mean, like I said, right now we're sitting around 68 products.
00:42:29
Speaker
It's amazing.
00:42:30
Speaker
I also want to give a shout out to the people that are involved.
00:42:35
Speaker
Obviously, Scott Larson has been very helpful with this.
00:42:38
Speaker
We have Amanda Hamilton of Freeplay Pinball, George Fisher of Don't Panic Flip, Zach Many of Flippin' Out Pinball, Pinball Show, Straight Down the Middle.
00:42:46
Speaker
What else am I missing?
00:42:47
Speaker
That man's the Ryan Reynolds of pinball, right?
00:42:50
Speaker
Mm-hmm.
00:42:53
Speaker
A big shout out to Rachel Risto, Drew.
00:42:58
Speaker
I can't say Drew's last name.
00:42:59
Speaker
Poor man, Drew.
00:43:04
Speaker
To Jen Rupert, to Craig Bobby, and to all of our guests.
00:43:09
Speaker
I'm excited.
00:43:10
Speaker
And thank you for not even hesitating when I asked.
00:43:13
Speaker
You guys are all awesome.
00:43:14
Speaker
It's insane.
00:43:17
Speaker
It really is insane.
00:43:18
Speaker
I guess take a step back, take a look at it.
00:43:20
Speaker
We have roughly 30 people with the stream.
00:43:23
Speaker
Does that sound about right?
00:43:25
Speaker
About 20?
00:43:25
Speaker
Yeah, about that.
00:43:27
Speaker
About 20 on the stream.
00:43:29
Speaker
We've had people donate their time, donate product.
00:43:33
Speaker
I mean, we've had just in sponsors alone, we have 20, 20 ish different sponsors, 25.
00:43:41
Speaker
I mean, it's amazing.
00:43:44
Speaker
The number of people have come together to help with this.
00:43:46
Speaker
And I just, thank you so much.
00:43:49
Speaker
I bet our listeners are getting sick of hearing about it, but I'm excited.
00:43:53
Speaker
This has been amazing.
00:43:55
Speaker
So no, I, I, yeah, I, I can't say enough about it.
00:44:00
Speaker
It's, and yeah,
00:44:02
Speaker
I know you left yourself out, but none of this would have happened without you.
00:44:07
Speaker
When you pitched it to me, I, okay.
00:44:10
Speaker
I didn't know if I was going to be able to fit Expo into my schedule this year.
00:44:14
Speaker
Everything, it's still very packed.
00:44:16
Speaker
But as soon as Josh said, this is what he was trying to do on the reason why he was trying to do it.
00:44:22
Speaker
I am like, I'm in, just let me know.
00:44:24
Speaker
And I will be there.
00:44:25
Speaker
Yeah.
00:44:26
Speaker
And I appreciate that, man.
00:44:28
Speaker
We are looking forward to all, all y'all.
00:44:31
Speaker
And this will be a slightly shorter episode just because we are trying to wrap up things a little bit before, like we have one day and then I'm flying out the next day.

Podcast Journey and Listener Invitation

00:44:43
Speaker
So I need to remember to pack everything.
00:44:46
Speaker
I'll bring as much swag as I can.
00:44:50
Speaker
So we'll see what we can do.
00:44:52
Speaker
I've stuffed my backpack full too.
00:44:54
Speaker
Yeah.
00:44:57
Speaker
We tried to make some more hats.
00:45:00
Speaker
So we have the Loser Kid 2.0 hats.
00:45:05
Speaker
And I have some stickers.
00:45:07
Speaker
I have some other random stuff that I made over the years.
00:45:12
Speaker
So if you see us, please go ahead and ask us, introduce yourself.
00:45:15
Speaker
I mean, we love to meet people in the hobby and it's amazing how many people we've met through this over the last, what, three, four years.
00:45:23
Speaker
How long have we been doing this?
00:45:24
Speaker
We've been doing the podcast for four years in January.
00:45:27
Speaker
That's crazy.
00:45:30
Speaker
Yeah.
00:45:30
Speaker
And then we've both been in the hobby longer than that.
00:45:33
Speaker
Yeah.
00:45:35
Speaker
Everyone's welcome to talk to a set for Joe Lemire.
00:45:37
Speaker
Cause you know, Joe, Joe,
00:45:39
Speaker

00:46:05
Speaker
Uh, yeah.
00:46:07
Speaker
If you are listening to this, put in the comments of the episode on our Facebook page or on pin side, wherever it may be, what you're excited for, for expo.
00:46:15
Speaker
If you're going to be there, hit us up.
00:46:17
Speaker
Like I said, we all have to eat at some point.
00:46:19
Speaker
So we'll get some food together.
00:46:20
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely.
00:46:21
Speaker
We'd love to, to grab bread with anybody.
00:46:25
Speaker
All right.
00:46:25
Speaker
I guess I'll just wrap this up.
00:46:28
Speaker

That's how you get ahold of us.
00:46:43
Speaker
Mainly through via Facebook messenger.
00:46:45
Speaker
That's probably the best way.
00:46:48
Speaker
If you want to get ahold of us.
00:46:50
Speaker
Other than that, what else you got for us, Scott?
00:46:52
Speaker
Seriously, if you see us walking around Expo, we'll try to either have a hat on or maybe a Loser Kid shirt.
00:46:59
Speaker

I guess you'll hear from us in two weeks.
00:47:10
Speaker
Maybe sooner.
00:47:11
Speaker
But if you're there, see you at Expo.
00:47:13
Speaker
See you at Expo.
00:47:43
Speaker
Shut up and sit down.
