The LGBTQIA+ community has come a long way in the fight for acceptance. However, our voices matter and will be heard. Many LGBTQIA+ community members have fought for decades for the right to be seen and heard.
About Episode 26In this episode, we discuss the new change and its impact on the LGBTQIA+ community in Vietnam, especially regarding conversion therapy.
Phong Vuong is currently working as the LGBTI Rights Program Manager at the Institute for Studies of Society, Economy and Environment (iSEE), a local NGO working to advance human rights in Vietnam, focusing on LGBTI issues. Phong aims to build independent, sustainable, and community-led movements through creating new knowledge, empowering individuals and community organizations, and amplifying their voices to stakeholders in the public and private sectors. Phong has been engaged with the LGBTI movement in Vietnam since 2016 through advocacy and social campaigns for topics such as depathologization, same-sex marriage (the Law on Marriage and Family), and legal gender recognition (the Civil Code), and has led iSEE’s work on Marriage Equality in Vietnam since 2019.
