Introductions and Podcasting Habits

00:00:56
urfavoritecoastersux
I'm Zach and I'm getting high right now.
00:01:00
Ben
I'm Ben and I, uh, I might too. I'll see how long I can make it.
00:01:08
urfavoritecoastersux
I think you should.
00:01:11
Ben
The only problem though, is like, I've just, if I do that without drinking, it's, I talk slower and I think slower.
00:01:23
Ben
Although if most people listen to this show on 2x, then maybe it's okay.
00:01:28
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, it'll sound just fine.
00:01:28
Ben
Or 2.5x.
00:01:33
urfavoritecoastersux
I mean, this show is already at a slow pace anyway, so it'll just encourage people to listen at a faster speed.
00:01:33
Ben
Yeah.
00:01:37
Ben
yeah Yeah. Yeah. I did start doing that with a lot of podcasts, other podcasts I listened to, and it actually is kind of nice. Um, especially like driving, although I've noticed I'd then drive faster. So it's not always safe, but you know,
00:02:03
urfavoritecoastersux
yeah i i could see that kind of having that effect there's like the music's getting faster that's the thing that always gets me is when they get into like anything with a music segment it always sounds so funny
00:02:18
Ben
Yeah. See, I think instead of a speed up, they should just do like, uh, like if there is a way in post production to take out pauses or to reduce pauses, cause that's, I feel like that's generally the biggest problem with podcasting is like editing out pot, editing out pauses sucks. And then like,
00:02:43
Ben
Although I guess sometimes you lose out on like the, if there's any comedic effect pause, but I don't know.

Reflections on Podcasting and Content Creation

00:02:50
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, um I mean, I feel like it's been four and a half years we've been doing this show. And we've kind of gotten the timing down a little bit better, I think.
00:03:04
Ben
Yeah. Yeah. The keys just fill it. Like if I consciously think about Talking and I make sure I just like just keep shit flying out of your mouth basically It's the key
00:03:21
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, and that's pretty easy for my ass to do because I can just fucking talk and talk and talk and talk. I don't know if you've ever heard me while you've stepped away, but I try my best to fill the time.
00:03:36
Ben
Every time I try to do that, I make it like 30 seconds and I'm just like, uh, okay, I'll pause.
00:03:43
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, I feel like that's normally what I do, too, is like I'm like, all right, so here's this and bla blah, blah, blah. OK, but then I feel like there's been at least one time I've managed to like cover the entire time.
00:03:59
Ben
Yeah.
00:04:00
urfavoritecoastersux
I don't know. Of course, that's the moment we both pause.
00:04:04
Ben
Yep.

Theme Park Content and Community Observations

00:04:07
urfavoritecoastersux
um Welcome back. This is your favorite coaster sucks. We're in all. Roller coaster podcast. We talk about roller coasters and laugh about the people who complain about them online.
00:04:23
Ben
Yep. And, uh, well, I, have you noticed, so I've always been kind of interested in like the Fousey community.
00:04:25
urfavoritecoastersux
And we are them, too, so.
00:04:35
Ben
Um, one thing I noticed, and I don't know if is this is just a product of like YouTube changing or maybe my algorithm is changing, but I have not seen a whole lot of coverage of Hollywood nights like I typically do.
00:04:50
urfavoritecoastersux
No, I think they've finally made that event so exclusive that, you know, you're only going to see an occasional picture here or there of it.
00:05:01
Ben
Yeah, which I get but like considering the amount of photos I saw of people with cameras and taking videos and stuff like I compared to like last ah compared to last year at least like I feel like no one is talking about it. Like it what wasn't even, it was barely even on Reddit.
00:05:19
urfavoritecoastersux
maybe
00:05:22
Ben
Like I feel like I'm not seeing it. Like in general, I just, it seems like the whole Fousey YouTuber thing is like starting to scale back.
00:05:33
urfavoritecoastersux
well i mean okay first of all i was gonna say maybe it's like a return to the old school and then around to that second point you made yeah theme park youtube i think is like it's now on a downward trajectory in terms of the amount of creators just because of how limited the ability how limited not the ability is but how limited
00:05:41
Ben
Yeah.
00:05:53
Ben
Well, I also wonder, yeah,
00:06:00
urfavoritecoastersux
the actual amount of money is going around that space because it's not like it's not like there's an infinite money glitch with YouTube there's there's a pretty specific amount that set advertisers are willing to play pay on big channels
00:06:05
Ben
I mean, right.
00:06:19
urfavoritecoastersux
or channels that get the the targeted demographic views that they are looking for. But other than that, yeah, it's, it's, it's a not really ah that big of a pool of money, unless your name is fucking, you know, Logan Paul or Joe Rogan or you know,
00:06:24
Ben
Yeah.
00:06:36
Ben
Yeah. Well, I was going to say too, like it also seems like there is that big uptick in new creators after COVID and then a bunch of people move to Orlando. And now it seems like that entire movement is like, this so I mean, like I get it. If after like a year or two, you're like, I'm not making any money. Like what am I doing? um
00:07:03
urfavoritecoastersux
well you know what here's the thing if that's all you got into it for fucking good riddance
00:07:11
Ben
Well, that's that's just it. like i was i was The reason I've noticed this whole change and is because the channels that I like, that I find like really fun and like put out good shit is they're still making videos, but they're not putting out... They're channels that never put out daily videos, but like every everyone you know every couple weeks or whatever. But like those channels where it was just like two videos a day are, I can't find a lot of content on those. Like, I mean, I'm at like during COVID, like those Orlando channels where it's just like a daily 30 minute video of like testing footage from outside the park through a fence kind of stuff. Like, I don't know.
00:07:56
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, I mean I Think yeah, it's like there This is this yeah, there's only so much money to be made And once that shit dried up then the people that don't actually have their heart in the shit or a real passion for it just because I Because like I don't want anybody to hear this and think that like I have some aversion to people making money off of theme park content. I don't. You go do you good on you if you can make some money doing this. You know, but. I don't think any time if people's goal was just explicitly to make money, I don't think that they are the ones that will be successful.
00:08:47
Ben
Oh yeah.
00:08:47
urfavoritecoastersux
And I don't think they'll ever be the ones that have the type of content that is sustainably entertaining or attractive to an ah ah either a loyal audience or a big enough audience with turnover.
00:09:06
Ben
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
00:09:16
Ben
Um, yeah, that's another, and I'll, I'll admit that's probably just something that I, I, I'm not in the, I'm not in the end generation.
00:09:17
urfavoritecoastersux
And fucking theme park TikTok is just some whole other shit.
00:09:30
Ben
So I think I just missed it, but yeah, like one
00:09:33
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, I don't understand TikTok and I don't claim to, but I know that a lot of creators on YouTube discuss that TikTok makes it very hard to grow a brand as a creator.
00:09:46
Ben
Yeah.
00:09:49
urfavoritecoastersux
Like it's easier to make viral content, but it doesn't necessarily help grow a brand.
00:09:57
Ben
Yeah. That makes sense.
00:10:00
urfavoritecoastersux
Because you don't really remember creators when you're only watching maximum like 30 second videos, you know.
00:10:00
Ben
Um.
00:10:10
Ben
Yeah. Like, um, Also, one thing I hate about either YouTube shorts or TikToks is this, i this trend of like posting a POV, but only the first 60 seconds from like the station. So like you want, you click on, so you like see something and it's like station dispatch, dispatch up the lift Hill. Then right as you're getting to the top of the lift Hill, the clip ends. And I don't know if it's just some weird, like if the joke is on me for clicking on it, like if it's just some weird, like manipulative clickbait shit, or if it's genuinely people that are just lazy and clipping their POVs, you know, too short. I don't know.
00:11:00
urfavoritecoastersux
no it's probably a way to make money get extra views write three times the views
00:11:02
Ben
Yeah. Or right. it's Or it's like, Oh, well I could splice up the POV into three separate clips and there's three clips that I can put on versus just one. Yeah.
00:11:21
Ben
Yeah.

Film Critiques and Audience Reactions

00:11:22
Ben
Speaking of viewership. I, I, have you ever, have you heard about the acolyte, the news Disney star Wars short series thing on Disney plus?
00:11:34
urfavoritecoastersux
yeah kind of peripherally.
00:11:39
Ben
ah Well, obviously a lot of the, uh, right wing echo chambers are saying like, you know, typical, Oh, it's woke and this and that, whatever. That's not my bone to pick with it. I just found it incredibly boring. And like, it just feels like Disney's churning out so much generic shitty content that like it's becoming very exhausting.
00:12:11
urfavoritecoastersux
i mean i haven't really seen any star wars content since episode one came out i get it that's on me uh... and now i feel like kind of the same way i feel with marvel where i'm like there's so much of it that i'm just like i i don't even why even start at this point
00:12:27
Ben
yeah oh yeah exactly yeah yeah I saw what the hell was it last year Guardians of the Galaxy 2 I think and that was that was that was really bad um Well also, what actually made the video, what actually made the movie the more entertaining was the fact that the sound kept cutting out and the audience was getting so pissed that that was actually the funniest part about it. And then like the amount of people that complained upfront after the movie was done was pretty, was very amusing.
00:13:11
Ben
um
00:13:11
urfavoritecoastersux
You know what? I actually wanted to talk with you about a movie I watched recently.
00:13:16
Ben
What's that?
00:13:18
urfavoritecoastersux
Um, a delightful upbeat little comedy by the name of Civil War.
00:13:24
Ben
Oh yeah, I saw that movie.
00:13:28
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, little lighthearted fun movie for a Sunday afternoon.
00:13:32
Ben
Yeah. I like, I like i liked it.
00:13:35
urfavoritecoastersux
meet you Me too, me too. I thought it was crazy because I always like to look up movies on YouTube after I watch them to see what other people think of them.
00:13:41
Ben
Yeah. Oh, for sure.
00:13:48
urfavoritecoastersux
And the general consensus among a lot of people seem to be that like.
00:13:56
urfavoritecoastersux
Oh, they didn't show how the war started, and it's like, oh, you're missing the point of that movie completely.
00:14:05
Ben
Yeah, exactly. Well, also too, like it, exactly. It's not, that wasn't the point of it. And it's important. They didn't do that because it didn't alienate any audience. Cause like, that's why, that's why they had the whole like kind of unrealistic situation of like Texas and California together in a the Western Alliance or whatever, because it's like,
00:14:29
urfavoritecoastersux
yeah and like and nobody nobody know the characters that they like came across along the way had like clear motives other than like kill the other guy there was no like oh we believe in this so that was even more a demonstrative of like unimportant how the fuck it started
00:14:42
Ben
Yeah, right.
00:14:57
Ben
Yeah, I mean, in my only complaint about it was that the very last scene or last couple of scenes were ah little unrealistic with like with them like chasing the like military into the White House it seemed to yeah well I mean it's a civil war I mean people are gonna charge the White House eventually
00:15:25
urfavoritecoastersux
Ah, spoilers. Yeah, doesn't matter.
00:15:34
Ben
um Anyway, yeah, I thought it was good, though, overall. ah What was funny is we saw that movie when we were in Duluth and in like very typical kind of Wisconsin, Minnesota um response to anything that's like just i well I can't call the movie art, but you know what I mean? Any kind of creative.
00:16:01
urfavoritecoastersux
Well, it is provocative, certainly.
00:16:03
Ben
Yeah. It was like two guys just like at the urinal. Huh, I was different. And like, that was it. And then they washed their hands and left the bathroom and.
00:16:17
urfavoritecoastersux
That's the takeaway.
00:16:25
Ben
So.
00:16:25
urfavoritecoastersux
That that's pretty funny. Yeah, I enjoyed it. um I kind of want to see if they release like a director's cut.
00:16:38
Ben
Yeah, let's.
00:16:45
urfavoritecoastersux
Because I feel like there is more stuff that they probably shot that would be interesting to see.
00:16:51
Ben
Mm hmm. I'm also interested if there was any like if this was the intent the entire intended storyline or if they had to change it or. um Because it is a pretty wild like concept of you know, US s civil war, especially this time a year, or this time in our existence with everything going on.
00:17:25
urfavoritecoastersux
and yeah yeah I thought it was good enjoyed it quite a bit would recommend it also watched a what the fuck is that give me a sec here it's a Australian movie where there's like there's summoning ghosts or spirits.
00:17:57
Ben
Um, not sure.
00:18:02
urfavoritecoastersux
I'll let you in. Talk to me. Yeah, there you go. Talk to me.
00:18:09
Ben
Talk to me.
00:18:12
Ben
I haven't seen that one yet.
00:18:14
urfavoritecoastersux
This is pretty good.
00:18:18
urfavoritecoastersux
It was an interesting new take on the old Ouija board concept.
00:18:23
Ben
Okay. Yeah.
00:18:29
Ben
Yeah, that was one of those that was playing at Alamo here. um
00:18:36
Ben
That was one I miss. I've been, typically we've been seeing like, I mean, we see like one or two a week lately. In fact, I've seen so many movies now lately that when we did the Guess the Oscars party, I got like 17 of the 24, right?
00:18:56
urfavoritecoastersux
Wow, look at you.
00:18:58
Ben
And I remember like before, before we started dating, I was like, I always said, I'm like, I literally have been in a movie theater three times in the last 10 years. So I think that was one of the three actually, but yeah.
00:19:11
urfavoritecoastersux
Well, to be fair, the last time I saw a movie in theaters was a Jackass 4.

Memorable Movie Experiences and Steve-O Stories

00:19:24
urfavoritecoastersux
Because of course, to me, that's a theater movie, or a theater movie-worthy movie.
00:19:30
Ben
Oh, for sure. Yeah. I remember number two was very like optimized for the theater. They did a lot of um like big screen kind of bits. That was actually the first one I saw in theaters. That was really funny.
00:19:51
urfavoritecoastersux
Man, I fucking love jackass. I was watching a video earlier where Dave England was telling a story about how they were riding to a filming at some point and Steve-O ended up ripping this shit out of some Teamsters van.
00:20:12
Ben
oh Yeah Yeah, and actually that was Did I ever show you that it was like the steve-o don't try this out to don't try this at home tour DVD?
00:20:15
urfavoritecoastersux
And they had to pay for the van.
00:20:29
urfavoritecoastersux
no
00:20:30
Ben
Okay, I bought this DVD back in like 2004 and it was his like second tour or Or maybe it was like the first tour. Like he used to just tour to like college bars and stuff and just do stunts on stage. Um, like the year after Jackass, the movie came out basically.
00:20:46
urfavoritecoastersux
who
00:20:52
Ben
And then it was a tour DVD and it was just like the craziest shit. It was like all the footage of him, like destroying his apartment and building the skate ramp and pissing off his neighbors and stuff like that.
00:21:04
urfavoritecoastersux
i so I seen him doing that one where he builds the fucking skate ramp in his apartment.
00:21:09
Ben
Yeah.
00:21:11
urfavoritecoastersux
And that one where he just like fucking he goes off of a table and through like a wall of his apartment.
00:21:12
Ben
And they.
00:21:22
Ben
Yeah.
00:21:23
urfavoritecoastersux
It's like it's like, oh, you're not getting the security deposit back now.
00:21:31
Ben
I suppose that's the problem with like. Yeah, because I guess the story was that he. rented like five apartments in that building. So instead of just like buying a house, he just rented like five apartments in a building. And then there was like all these different ones. They had like each of like different purposes. Like one was like a sleeping one. One was for, um like people who worked for his company, I guess, like editing video and stuff. And like one was a skate park. One was like where they did all the drugs.
00:22:10
urfavoritecoastersux
that's ridiculous I mean that is a solution not necessarily the most um logical one but
00:22:14
Ben
That's a good way to. I just think it's funny, like most people when they get like insanely rich overnight, they would just like buy an insane house. But like he's like, no, I'll just rent five apartments.
00:22:29
Ben
yeah
00:22:41
urfavoritecoastersux
Hey, hell, whatever.
00:22:43
Ben
Yeah.
00:22:43
urfavoritecoastersux
He was fucked up like all hell.
00:22:47
Ben
yeah

Monetization Ethics in Entertainment

00:22:51
Ben
What was it?
00:22:51
urfavoritecoastersux
Hey, I got to run to the restroom real quick.
00:22:56
urfavoritecoastersux
I got to run to the restroom real quick.
00:22:58
Ben
Okay.
00:22:59
urfavoritecoastersux
Do you want me to pause it?
00:23:00
Ben
Uh, yeah, sure.
00:23:02
urfavoritecoastersux
All right, I'll be back in a moment.
00:23:03
Ben
All right.
00:23:06
urfavoritecoastersux
Fucking Steve, oh.
00:23:11
Ben
Speaking of, uh, content generation, he has a podcast to figure is he's probably an interesting person for a podcast, but it seems like there's always drama with him in podcasting.
00:23:31
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah. I mean.
00:23:35
Ben
There was one, and there was one random review that was basically saying he's like, that the BAM, the whole like BAM Margera thing and like his rehab story, that he's basically like trying to find ways to monetize it or bring attention to his channel.
00:23:57
urfavoritecoastersux
I could see that.
00:24:01
Ben
Kind of the old put in a, you know, the key word accident in your video after a unfortunate drop tower incident.
00:24:14
urfavoritecoastersux
yep that's the move but at the same time he mean it's hard to say though because it's not like he doesn't seem to legitimately be concerned about his friend you know
00:24:36
Ben
Yeah.
00:24:40
Ben
Yeah, but that's the thing that's a problem with like, um the in internet.
00:24:43
urfavoritecoastersux
But yeah, it's a tough read.
00:24:46
Ben
What was it?
00:24:48
urfavoritecoastersux
It's tough to read that situation.
00:24:50
Ben
Well, yeah, because the problem, I think there's a general problem of just the internet, when you become when you monetize it is like,
00:24:59
Ben
I don't know. I think about like all those YouTube podcast, you know, like the whole like YouTube comedian podcast, like universe.
00:25:11
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah.
00:25:15
Ben
And it's like two bears, one cave. And then it's like all the random podcasts that Burton and then it's like,
00:25:26
Ben
The Tony Hinchcliffe group. There's like this whole like podcast universe that exists.
00:25:35
Ben
Where they're like all friends on camera and in podcasts, but like it's clearly a business. So it's like you're being sold. These people are like friends, but it's all just like a show, you know?
00:25:56
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, but I think that's the entertainment industry, isn't it?
00:25:59
Ben
Yeah, that's true.
00:26:06
Ben
That's true. But I guess like the the internet does that to people. So like even, I mean, like here's like, how many, like what percentage of channels do you think still like, okay, how many channels who had footage of the ride before the accident also put accident keywords in their videos that we just didn't notice?
00:26:33
Ben
Like it seems like it's just the problem of like being in the internet for money is like, it causes you to do things that you justify like, well, I need to put food on the table.
00:26:36
urfavoritecoastersux
that's what i'm saying
00:26:47
urfavoritecoastersux
But the thing is it's not really it's not on the individual actor then it's kind of just the broken system at large Because as much as you can point to any individual actor in that situation You can also point to saying like why would that what leads to that?
00:26:53
Ben
Right.
00:27:04
Ben
Yeah, right.
00:27:10
urfavoritecoastersux
but yeah yep yep but that's um you know how it goes
00:27:11
Ben
And that's the shit to come full circle that when you see it in the theme park industry, then in a hobby that you really like, it's kind of like, ah, come on, this is exhausting.
00:27:35
urfavoritecoastersux
because unfortunately people figured out that there was some money to be made doing this shit. And that's all it takes.
00:27:50
Ben
Yeah.
00:27:56
Ben
I think whenever the defense is. Like whenever the defense of the actions of somebody in that entertainment space is. Yeah, well, they need to make a living. And if that's the response to doing like shady shit, then you know. That's not good.
00:28:25
Ben
Can you hear that thunder?
00:28:26
urfavoritecoastersux
now no listen up for the Thunder was no imagine dragon said imagine me dragging the okay I'm
00:28:30
Ben
It might show up if you're... We'll see. Listen to a very to it very loudly.
00:28:48
Ben
ah I don't know.
00:28:57
urfavoritecoastersux
Disney World set a opening date for the country country bear musical jamboree.
00:29:05
Ben
So this was being renovated.
00:29:08
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, apparently one of the characters is super offensive.
00:29:09
Ben
Okay.
00:29:14
Ben
oh Oh, yeah. Shocker.
00:29:21
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, who would have thought that the name liver lips was a slur? And that was the name of one of the characters.
00:29:36
Ben
Well, what if they brought back alien encounter, but instead of an alien that like comes back and like starts walking around you and breathing on your neck, it's like just some political figure everybody hates.
00:29:37
urfavoritecoastersux
Because of course it was.
00:30:01
Ben
And then he's like talking in your ear.
00:30:03
urfavoritecoastersux
Who is a political figure that universally is hated?
00:30:08
Ben
I can't think of one on the top of my head.
00:30:11
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, that that might be difficult.
00:30:19
urfavoritecoastersux
But ah it could work.
00:30:26
urfavoritecoastersux
I can't believe I just full on like Rick Sanchez worked.
00:30:27
Ben
Or can we COVID? We COVID, that would even, it's some, they accidentally bring somebody back that has COVID and then like the glass breaks and then that's what it needs to be. Like in 10 years when everybody thinks COVID, yeah, yeah.
00:30:40
urfavoritecoastersux
covid encounter well when like gen alpha
00:30:42
Ben
Like in 10 years when everybody thinks COVID is like a joke or I guess, no, 20 years, 21 years, whatever they say. um When it's like funny. And then it's just like, yeah, it's the same ride set up and everything. It's just that like they released the cylinder breaks and it's like, Oh no, we've released COVID. Was it a lab leak? And then you're like, you know, the restraint comes down and then it's like, you know, the the hot breath and like the, cough it's like somebody coughing and that sprays water on your face.
00:31:19
Ben
It's Karen. She's unmasked. She's about to talk about QAnon conspiracy theories.
00:31:26
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, they re themed the whole thing to an airplane. And then so you just hear like. a
00:31:33
Ben
Yeah, it's like a woman that's like in the cylinder. She's like wearing a MAGA mask and then like takes it off and starts coughing.
00:31:40
urfavoritecoastersux
And it's just like to do to do. Yeah, COVID encounter. When when Generation ah Alpha, um when they're making jokes about covid the way that um fucking Gen Z jokes about 9-11.
00:32:05
Ben
Yeah.
00:32:06
urfavoritecoastersux
That's when we know it's time.

Generational Changes and Innovation

00:32:08
Ben
Mm hmm. That rides on God.
00:32:14
urfavoritecoastersux
No cap.
00:32:15
Ben
My Riz is up.
00:32:18
urfavoritecoastersux
Skibbity toilet, Ohio Can we just ruin every bit of youth slang right now and Let me just let me just say I'm a 35 year old man.
00:32:30
Ben
i couldn ski
00:32:34
Ben
I mean, yeah, I have to say though, remember like when people in their thirties talked about, I mean, did we even really have youth slang though?
00:32:40
urfavoritecoastersux
oh
00:32:47
urfavoritecoastersux
I
00:32:49
Ben
Like when was our, when was the millennial youth slang peak? Was it, was it in like the early two thousands when people got phones and it was like all texting slang? That's probably it, right?
00:33:01
urfavoritecoastersux
ah That's probably the closest I could think of but other than that, yeah, I don't know um Trying to think here um kind of draw a blank though I Feel like we kind of just normalized what was previously slang I
00:33:18
Ben
Yeah, I mean, I can't mean like millennials didn't really have slang in like the 2010s. Yeah.
00:33:33
urfavoritecoastersux
Like, like the word yo. That's just so commonplace now, you know.
00:33:41
Ben
Mm hmm.
00:33:45
urfavoritecoastersux
and Like, like basically now, yo, what's good? That's just like a very standard and formal greeting.
00:33:54
Ben
Yeah, that's true.
00:34:00
Ben
I mean, I'm trying to remember though, if there were moments, cause what the Gen Z slang thing or Gen Alpha slang, whatever you want to call it is like. People are like, people in their 30s now are like, I don't get it. And I don't understand the context. It's like, I don't know. It takes like a minute. You like look it up and look at what he means. And you hear a couple of people say, and it's like, okay. like But like, remember trying to talk to somebody who is an adult who is not phone literate?
00:34:35
Ben
about like acronyms. They acted like acronyms were like the most challenging thing to comprehend into decipher.
00:34:43
urfavoritecoastersux
che t y l
00:34:46
Ben
I don't know what any of this means. Just text normal.
00:34:55
urfavoritecoastersux
TTYL I remember my dad was like the opposite of that
00:35:01
Ben
Oh, overdid it.
00:35:03
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, yeah. Well, because, you know, he like worked in like I.T. and shit, so he'd be like. He'd be like, apparently, but he'd be like reading these articles from like fucking tech people his age.
00:35:14
Ben
yeah
00:35:14
urfavoritecoastersux
So he'd be like, yeah, you know, like. The the slang now is that young people spell cool K.E.W.L.
00:35:22
Ben
Yeah.
00:35:26
urfavoritecoastersux
and It's like, all right. and
00:35:30
Ben
Remember like phone commercials that would make fun of like overused acronyms, like everything was an acronym.
00:35:45
Ben
Like, bow body.
00:35:49
urfavoritecoastersux
What's the first B stand for? Business?
00:35:55
Ben
Business.
00:36:01
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, I, am ah that but um...
00:36:01
Ben
Yeah.
00:36:10
urfavoritecoastersux
What was it, like, OMG, my BFF, Jillian?
00:36:15
Ben
Oh, right. we're Right.
00:36:17
urfavoritecoastersux
I think that's kinda like millennial slang.
00:36:19
Ben
Yeah.
00:36:20
urfavoritecoastersux
It's like dumb shit from like commercials or songs that like caught on.
00:36:25
Ben
Yeah. ah Well, it's because every pretty much everyone, every millennial across the country was watching the same shit.
00:36:35
urfavoritecoastersux
Are you jellin'?
00:36:35
Ben
It was.
00:36:39
urfavoritecoastersux
That's a millennial fuckin'.
00:36:40
Ben
Yeah. And then like, yeah, you went to school on Monday and you like were on the bus or whatever, and you'd be like talking about the commercial and then people would be imitating it.
00:36:52
urfavoritecoastersux
Jell-in like a felon.
00:37:00
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, millennials had that that was millennial shit.
00:37:01
Ben
Yeah. Like, yeah.
00:37:06
urfavoritecoastersux
I don't know if it was slang so much, it's just like. Fucking memes.
00:37:16
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah.
00:37:21
urfavoritecoastersux
Isn't it weird to be a millennial?
00:37:26
Ben
I feel like it's probably one of the better ones at the end of the day when you even things out What's they yeah, I feel like Gen X is like
00:37:36
urfavoritecoastersux
I like how Gen X just is quietly sitting there doing nothing.
00:37:48
Ben
They were fine. Like they didn't really have, like they were able, they were, they became adults quick enough before all the shit hit the fan.
00:38:02
urfavoritecoastersux
Fucking assholes.
00:38:06
urfavoritecoastersux
They're like, yeah, we. We got, you know, REM and the gin blossoms and the falling of the wall.
00:38:24
Ben
I feel like the rollercoaster scene is probably the best for Gen X. Like if you think about like the wild shit that opened in the early 90s.
00:38:36
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, like the mid 80s all the way through to the early 2000s.
00:38:40
Ben
Yeah.
00:38:45
Ben
That era of like seeing ah a crazy like prototype ride and like you only know you only see like a picture of it and you get to the park when it opens, you have no idea how the ride runs.
00:39:01
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, I or you like see a news report and you're like, holy shit.
00:39:06
Ben
Yeah.
00:39:12
urfavoritecoastersux
Oh, to have been a Genexer at that time.
00:39:19
Ben
Speaking of, um speaking of old people, I was thinking about this the other day. um Have you ever, have you ever driven an electric vehicle or an EV as the kids say?
00:39:32
urfavoritecoastersux
No.
00:39:34
Ben
So it's like really odd because it's, it's like silent and there's no like vibrations. There's no, Like it's it's kind of hard to explain. Like there's just nothing. It's really, it's really weird. Like you don't feel like you're really in a car. Um, and so because of that, you don't really feel acceleration. Like you could floor it and suddenly you're going like 90 miles an hour. It doesn't, like there's zero vibration or noise. Um, like imagine, like imagine elderly people, right?
00:40:15
Ben
who get an EV and in their mind it's like oh like these are electric vehicles they don't have they have like no power they've got like no kick you know like it would be like a golf cart and they think they're just getting into this like a little car but they'd like floor it and then they don't even realize they're going like 150
00:40:37
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, they're like, like, oh, what was that? Must be a speed bump.
00:40:51
urfavoritecoastersux
Imagine one of those the first time there's one of those old people accidents where they're like, I thought the gas was debris and they go into a business.
00:41:03
Ben
Yeah. Well, I was singing like I was, yeah, I mean, you could probably, there was maybe a joke there.
00:41:14
urfavoritecoastersux
Just keeps going.
00:41:16
Ben
Suddenly they're zooming down the road at a hundred miles an hour straight through a wall.
00:41:27
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, oh, Jesus Christ. I'm just picturing like. A 93 year old dude in Florida.
00:41:44
urfavoritecoastersux
I got one of these new EVs.
00:41:49
Ben
It's a woke car. It has no power to it.
00:41:56
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah. and And they're like, would you like to test it out?
00:42:05
Ben
um Lucids were supposed to be kind of like an old person car. Old people with money was like their literal target demographic.
00:42:21
urfavoritecoastersux
I mean, that's a pretty good target demo.
00:42:32
urfavoritecoastersux
If we didn't already stake our um claim on being egregious assholes, I'd say let's rebrand and focus on old people with money.
00:42:40
Ben
Yeah. What about a coaster podcast that is, uh, targeted to boomers?
00:42:58
urfavoritecoastersux
how How so?
00:42:59
Ben
I don't, I don't know, but that would be a funny way to do it. And then you can have like need ups and stuff.
00:43:07
urfavoritecoastersux
It starts off with a guitar solo.
00:43:08
Ben
It'd be fun.
00:43:15
Ben
Yep. And then, uh, boomers just don't like EVs.
00:43:19
urfavoritecoastersux
Like no, no EVs here, just solid rock.
00:43:31
Ben
It's funny. I just,
00:43:34
urfavoritecoastersux
Give me a 64 Hemi any day.
00:43:36
Ben
this is I love, there's this dark part of, there's this really dark part of Facebook that I still, cause I don't use Facebook, but I still am like an observer because there's all these people that I follow that I've been following for probably like 15 years plus, you know, like it's like random people I went to school with and then like, Sometimes their parents or it's like coworkers or like coworkers of coworkers type of thing from like years. And so somebody forgot existed suddenly like post something. And it's like, it's like, uh, talking about how, I don't know, solar farms are causing global warming or something. And it's just like, ah it's so out of nowhere. It's just funny.
00:44:33
urfavoritecoastersux
I mean, 5G caused COVID, so.
00:44:39
Ben
Yeah. Oh, if yeah, for sure. And then like random QAnon things. um It's amusing. Sad, but amusing.
00:44:50
urfavoritecoastersux
I think that's just like, you know,
00:44:55
urfavoritecoastersux
the curse of the small town.
00:44:59
Ben
With the problem of the internet,
00:45:05
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, yeah, yeah, because you can find quote unquote supporting evidence for whatever you believe in now.
00:45:14
Ben
Yeah, I mean literally that's the problem is like literally any viewpoint you have, there's an endless stream of content available.
00:45:23
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, it's like I'm a doctor and the thing you just said is totally true Like you could just like come up with any dumb shit now and you can get a whole fucking internet subculture around you like Pickles don't have salt Don't believe me fucking prove it
00:45:29
Ben
but
00:45:50
Ben
Orion is a giga.
00:45:50
urfavoritecoastersux
we found We found a third generation pickle maker.
00:46:10
urfavoritecoastersux
Says who? I won't believe it until they bust out the tape measure.
00:46:26
Ben
It would be like, um, it'd be like that. Did you ever see that flat earth documentary about the people who believe in flat earth and they're like doing these experiments.
00:46:38
urfavoritecoastersux
No.
00:46:39
Ben
And then in their last experiment, they basically proved that the earth was round.
00:46:46
Ben
So is it's a I don't want to like butcher the clip. Basically, they so they were floated like three boats on a lake. and they were like And then they had lasers. And they were like, OK, so um you know they got out on the

Unusual Events and Theme Park News

00:47:07
Ben
boats. They turned the lasers. and um
00:47:11
Ben
They aim it at the at these targets and then like they're on the boats and like, Hey, I don't see the laser. Yeah. Are you sure sure it's on? Yeah, it's on. Oh, okay. Um, here, try lowering it. And then they'd be like, if, uh, According to like how far the boats are away, if the laser is ah three feet above the target, they will prove that the earth is round. And they're like, all right, keep lowering the laser. And then they're like, how but about, how low was that? It's like, yeah, it's like about three feet. And so anyway, they like disprove their entire thing at the very end. Um, I don't even remember what I was talking about. This is why.
00:47:56
urfavoritecoastersux
You smoked a ship, my friend.
00:48:01
Ben
So that's not a good idea. this
00:48:06
urfavoritecoastersux
Well, ah let's see, I'm going to see if there's some amusement park news. Here we go. um Six Flags Over Georgia. Is maybe going to open the Georgia surfer at some point.
00:48:17
Ben
Oh, that's right. Was that right? um It's like the Intamin ripoff of the mock splash.
00:48:23
urfavoritecoastersux
Georgia surfer.
00:48:30
urfavoritecoastersux
I'm just like, honestly, that's just my reaction to that name. What a horrible name.
00:48:41
urfavoritecoastersux
Like, first of all, well, about three quarters of the goddamn rides in that park have Georgia in the name.
00:48:48
Ben
Mm hmm. I knew that I knew that Texas was very like. Into their brand, but I didn't realize that Georgia was.
00:49:03
urfavoritecoastersux
Well, they have the Georgia Scorcher. They used to have the Georgia scott Cyclone and the Georgia Surfer.
00:49:16
Ben
Yeah.
00:49:17
urfavoritecoastersux
I mean, maybe it's not that many, but still. That's like twice as many rides as Great America has any ride with Illinois in the name.
00:49:32
Ben
Yeah, Illinois doesn't work out that way.
00:49:40
Ben
The it.
00:49:40
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, it's like the the Illinois corruption. Which sounds like a pretty awesome team name, by the way.
00:49:49
Ben
Yeah. Or like that could be like a flat ride name.
00:49:55
urfavoritecoastersux
I think I think that's the team that plays against the Harlem Globetrotters.
00:50:01
Ben
Oh really?
00:50:08
urfavoritecoastersux
No, that's the Washington
00:50:12
urfavoritecoastersux
Whatever the fuck they are. Nationals or something. No, that's the baseball team. I don't remember, but no, the the and the Illinois corruption.
00:50:30
urfavoritecoastersux
I like that. um But yeah, it doesn't really work very well, but Georgia's surfer is not. A good name.
00:50:41
Ben
Well, it's also, I mean, it seems like these were, remember when Intamin was offering random product offerings that were all ripoffs?
00:50:51
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah. I think they're still doing that.
00:50:57
Ben
Which is funny. Oh my God. Ruger farted. Gross.
00:51:05
urfavoritecoastersux
Speaking of ah gross farts, the Golden Ticket Award nominations are being accepted.
00:51:12
Ben
Oh, nice.
00:51:16
Ben
Did you get a ballot?
00:51:18
urfavoritecoastersux
No, I don't think I can participate anymore.
00:51:22
Ben
Have you tried though or did they just stop sending it?
00:51:26
urfavoritecoastersux
They stop sending it.
00:51:27
Ben
ah Okay.
00:51:32
urfavoritecoastersux
But I did get to vote once, so.
00:51:37
urfavoritecoastersux
They can never take that away from me.
00:51:39
Ben
Yeah.
00:51:42
urfavoritecoastersux
Six flags over Georgia, there's a kid flash status update.
00:51:47
urfavoritecoastersux
I just want to be very clear here. I'm discussing the roller coaster.
00:51:52
Ben
ah system That name...
00:51:56
urfavoritecoastersux
Kid Flash.
00:51:57
Ben
Cause Kid Flash isn't even a movie, right?
00:52:02
urfavoritecoastersux
OK, here's I'm going to just read them read this scream skate update verbatim because it's fucking hilarious.
00:52:13
urfavoritecoastersux
I've got a quick correction regarding the status of Kid Flash at Six Flags Over Georgia.
00:52:23
urfavoritecoastersux
just that made me laugh uh previously it was reported that the dueling coasters closed a few hours after the park opened with many believing it was down again long term this is not true however as it was confirmed to me that kid flash did reopen that same afternoon and we haven't heard any further stories about issues since um kid flash
00:52:41
Ben
this
00:52:54
Ben
Okay flash Yeah So they're so they're technically getting two coasters and
00:52:58
urfavoritecoastersux
Kind of sounds like a rapper. Yeah, because Kid Flash took fucking a year and a half to open.
00:53:12
Ben
Why, why are those rides so late? Like what, what's the problem with them?
00:53:22
urfavoritecoastersux
I.
00:53:26
urfavoritecoastersux
hard to say maybe the lights really fucked it up Georgia's
00:53:31
Ben
Yeah, maybe. You know, one thing I don't like about Georgia surfer is that it doesn't have
00:53:41
Ben
Oh it doesn't even splash down. It's just found.
00:53:48
urfavoritecoastersux
surfer kind of sounds like um
00:53:56
urfavoritecoastersux
Like one of those really weird country pop fusion bands.
00:54:03
Ben
Yeah.
00:54:10
Ben
Oh shit, I'm looking at this promo of Georgia Surfer and there's apparently like a ah ah a tunnel, like a fountain tunnel ah that the ride can go through.
00:54:29
urfavoritecoastersux
Interesting.
00:54:30
Ben
And they're calling the spikes a gravity stall ramp.
00:54:35
urfavoritecoastersux
That's. An interesting. Way to put it.
00:54:47
Ben
The best one out of that was the mock with the loop.
00:54:51
urfavoritecoastersux
That should look crazy. Like for real.
00:54:59
Ben
Yeah, that's the best one.
00:55:05
urfavoritecoastersux
Looks like free beer is coming back to Busch Gardens over Tampa. Busch Gardens over Tampa Busch Gardens Tampa.
00:55:12
Ben
Oh shit. How long, it's because it's been done for what?
00:55:14
urfavoritecoastersux
For.
00:55:17
Ben
A long time?
00:55:19
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, well, they occasionally do it, I think, but it looks like ah for a limited time, Tampa theme park will offer one complimentary beer per day to all guests and two complimentary beers per day to pass members.
00:55:34
Ben
Okay.
00:55:37
Ben
It's a good way to sync them.
00:55:38
urfavoritecoastersux
Uh, yeah, variety of rotating options to choose from, from classic domestic brews to artisanal craft beers. Guests can enjoy a refreshing drink while experiencing the thrill of a watering roller coasters and up close encounters with animals and the all new things happening this summer.
00:56:04
urfavoritecoastersux
So we'll get a free beer.
00:56:05
Ben
Oh, yeah Yeah, well if they're serving it in an air-conditioned room, yeah, I couldn't them Thinking back on that like they're the only things that were the only place that were air-conditioned were the gift shops and
00:56:08
urfavoritecoastersux
That actually sounds like it would be really good in the like Florida heat and humidity.
00:56:30
urfavoritecoastersux
It says, uh, orangue cafe. so if it's a cafe it's probably air-conditioned
00:56:38
Ben
yeah
00:56:43
urfavoritecoastersux
so get y'all asses out to ah Bush Gardens Tampa and go drink some beer
00:56:49
Ben
Yeah To a day for the for the season pass that sounds um
00:56:57
Ben
I mean, because there's already people who, you know, those videos where it's like, I have a meal plan and I eat at the park every day.
00:57:05
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, right. Like all the offices in Tampa just get like season passes for their employees and they're like, all right, Friday, happy hour.
00:57:17
Ben
ah Yeah, I mean, why not?
00:57:23
urfavoritecoastersux
That'd be the shit, though.
00:57:24
Ben
That's that's funny.
00:57:28
Ben
Yeah. Although the, um, the food that's offered though, like I bet after like a week, you're probably like, I don't want any of this. You probably are like sick and like you've got anal fissures from aggressive wiping with like the one ply toilet paper that that's in Dean parks.
00:57:46
urfavoritecoastersux
yeah
00:57:51
urfavoritecoastersux
Dude, you look sickly. Are you okay? Yeah, I'm good. I, um, I've just only been eating six flags meals for the past three months. Oh, good Lord. Or like, are you okay? No, no, I'm good. Um, I like some open sores in my legs and I can't walk properly anymore, but like,
00:58:22
urfavoritecoastersux
I've got a weird gate to my step. So like, I kind of need a walker or at least a cane, but like I'm good. Do you want to go get some beers? Yeah, dude, let's go.
00:58:39
Ben
Yeah, like...
00:58:41
urfavoritecoastersux
And scene.
00:58:46
Ben
God. I mean, and with the the amount of microplastics in that food, yeah.
00:58:54
urfavoritecoastersux
And fucking sodium.
00:59:00
Ben
It's like worse. That'd be like eating at 7-11 every day. Like, if you ever actually ate 7-11 food,
00:59:09
urfavoritecoastersux
Dude, it's funny you should mention that there's a 7-Eleven around the corner from where I work in this weekend, I got hungry. And I ended up buying a taquito. And good lord, that was a horrible mistake.
00:59:25
urfavoritecoastersux
I felt like shit for like six hours.
00:59:29
Ben
Yeah. God, then they have those wings. In the pizza, it's like.
00:59:39
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, the pizza is like disgusting. Because it's got that like cardboard fucking crust.
00:59:47
Ben
Yeah.
00:59:50
urfavoritecoastersux
It's basically like they took a full-size Totino's pizza and left it out in the sun. And then cooked it.
00:59:58
Ben
Yep.
01:00:02
urfavoritecoastersux
There's like, that's actually how 7-Eleven got in the pizza business. Totino's like, one of their trucks broke down. They're like, does anybody wanna buy like 80 pounds of pizzas? 7-Eleven's like, yes.
01:00:22
urfavoritecoastersux
And Totino's like, you know, you can't like eat these, right? And they're like, we won't.
01:00:32
urfavoritecoastersux
Let's see here. um
01:00:39
Ben
I always forget that Georgia's actually on the ocean.
01:00:45
urfavoritecoastersux
is it
01:00:46
Ben
Yeah, good part of it. Basically from like Jacksonville, Florida to Savannah.
01:00:58
Ben
Actually, actually a little north of that yet too. Like I know like i know it's on the ocean, but like I always forget that it's on the ocean. Let's see directions from, at let's see, let's say you lived in Atlanta and you went to the beach.
01:01:17
Ben
It's like a four hour drive.
01:01:21
Ben
It's not too bad.
01:01:22
urfavoritecoastersux
I'll be yeah on the eastern side. Okay, like southeast Yeah, all right, well totally forgot I was thinking about like south, you know Screamscape screamscape is saying the former Six Flags New Orleans is gonna get demolished
01:01:41
Ben
Yeah.
01:01:47
Ben
I feel like that was supposed to happen like every year for the last 20 years.
01:01:58
urfavoritecoastersux
yep Yep. Yeah, they're saying they're going to knock it down and try to build a water park.
01:02:12
Ben
Well, at least the water park is a little bit easier when it floods.
01:02:20
urfavoritecoastersux
Right, you can adapt the attractions.
01:02:32
Ben
God, speaking of 21 year anniversary is coming up. Katrina is going to be having its 20th anniversary, I think next year.
01:02:42
urfavoritecoastersux
oh Shit yeah, you're right Yeah same
01:02:54
Ben
I remember that vividly because that was when the theme park review forums were new.
01:03:14
urfavoritecoastersux
that I remember that being like when Myspace was still new too.
01:03:19
Ben
Yeah.
01:03:42
Ben
I'm getting distracted by these.
01:03:47
urfavoritecoastersux
Well, it looks like Circus Circus Adventure Dome is not in.
01:03:48
Ben
and
01:03:54
urfavoritecoastersux
So looks like.
01:03:59
urfavoritecoastersux
They removed the chaos, which really sucks. And the mini golf that used to be in there.
01:04:07
Ben
yeah
01:04:14
urfavoritecoastersux
and it looks like there's a pretty large unoccupied spot in there now like underneath the first corkscrew of canyon blaster it
01:04:32
Ben
Yeah. I'm actually surprised that place is still holding on.
01:04:36
urfavoritecoastersux
makes sense what else are they gonna do plus circus circus is like
01:04:39
Ben
Yeah Yeah
01:04:45
urfavoritecoastersux
a family place. you know
01:04:53
urfavoritecoastersux
It probably makes more than enough money to justify its continued operation.
01:05:11
Ben
Oh wait, yeah, we got a, um, we haven't talked about Thorpe Park energy or Hyperia is down. And then he got dragster down.
01:05:27
urfavoritecoastersux
yeah ain't the year for new attractions apparently yeah and nobody's buying those anymore and even those right because penguin trek is having some difficulty I think I
01:05:34
Ben
Although that's not like this is new. I mean, I mean, why every, I feel like no ride is open on time. other than B&Ms.
01:05:52
Ben
Oh yeah, was that supposed to be open already?
01:05:55
urfavoritecoastersux
think so
01:05:56
Ben
Oh shit, okay.
01:06:02
urfavoritecoastersux
And what's it called? um Fast and the Furious out at Universal Hollywood got delayed to 2026.
01:06:13
Ben
Okay, shit.
01:06:14
urfavoritecoastersux
But there was a recent interview um with somebody from the Epic Universe team who was saying they're going to open Epic Universe in early 2025.
01:06:23
Ben
Okay. That'll be cool. I haven't been to the grand opening of a theme park like ever.
01:06:28
urfavoritecoastersux
And they specifically said before summer.
01:06:32
Ben
okay
01:06:35
Ben
and be cool haven't been to the grand opening of of a theme park like ever other than Nick universe, which doesn't count.
01:06:46
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, I'd like to go within the first six months.
01:06:49
Ben
Yeah.
01:06:52
urfavoritecoastersux
Ooh, here's a fun, exciting story real quick. A shirtless man was arrested at Beach Bend Amusement Park in Kentucky when he apparently decided to climb up to the top of the Kentucky Rumbler wooden roller coaster around 10 30 p.m. According to reports, Police talked with him for about an hour that led to a peaceful walk back down the coaster where he was arrested and taken in. Based on the video, he appears to be somewhat intoxicated. According to some online reports, he may have been trying to wave an American flag at one point and yelling that he was, captain quote, Captain America.
01:07:39
Ben
I mean, it's better than a MAGA flag.
01:07:45
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah.
01:07:46
Ben
That'd have been a funnier story.
01:07:51
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, or Captain Planet. Captain Planet. And it's just Ted Turner kicking people in the deck.
01:08:09
Ben
Oh, I saw, I saw a random, uh, I don't remember what the actual post was. Um, but it was something about Mount Olympus and like that new water park tower opening. And I was looking through the comments and I saw someone randomly say that the Mount Olympus owner kicks dogs.
01:08:30
urfavoritecoastersux
I'm honored. A single tear is falling out of my eye right now.
01:08:39
Ben
I think what's funnier about the joke too is like, whenever we make, whenever we say that or make fun of it, it's never like, we never say his full name. It's just the owner of Mount Olympus.
01:08:49
urfavoritecoastersux
The owner. yeah ah
01:08:55
Ben
And that's how, and that's how it was in the comment too. I don't know. It was just funny.
01:09:05
urfavoritecoastersux
I'm so glad that that's one of those situations where like you know you put something out into the world and you no longer own it.
01:09:14
Ben
Yeah.
01:09:15
urfavoritecoastersux
I'm so glad that's made its its way out there now.
01:09:23
Ben
That would be a, that could be a shirt.
01:09:29
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah. And like, that's the thing. I don't need us to get credit for that. It's quite enough for that to just show up in their comments section. Just completely unrelated to us.
01:09:40
Ben
Yeah.
01:09:50
Ben
I'm just imagining this shirt. It's just as like the owner of, and then it has the actual logo of Mount Olympus water in the park and then kicks dogs.
01:10:05
urfavoritecoastersux
kick a dog in Mount Olympus.
01:10:17
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, that would be a funny shirt. It just says the owner of Mount Olympus kicks dogs.
01:10:26
Ben
I wonder if I put that into, uh, perplexity because apparently perplexity reads YouTube and I don't know about, I mean, obviously not discord, but
01:10:49
urfavoritecoastersux
I'm trying to find if there's like a ah sound effect of a something comparable.
01:11:00
Ben
Okay. So I asked, I asked at that and it says, no, the park clearly, the park rules clearly state that service dogs are permitted at my Olympus water and theme park with some restrictions.
01:11:18
urfavoritecoastersux
So they are allowed in.
01:11:20
Ben
Yeah.
01:11:27
Ben
Are there any incidents of animal cruelty reported at Mount Olympus? No, it just, it just lists the park rules about pets.
01:11:45
urfavoritecoastersux
Of course not, because it's been swept under the rug.
01:11:51
Ben
So yeah, actually Mount Olympus.
01:11:56
Ben
new slide because they built the world's tallest slide called ah the rise of Icarus.
01:12:16
Ben
And apparently the there's ah there's like a bunch of these, it's like a clone kind of slide. And they built this one like half a foot taller than the second tallest one.
01:12:30
Ben
America's tallest water slide.
01:12:30
urfavoritecoastersux
interesting that's such a weird record to want after the last one that famously killed a kid how many how many stories high is it
01:12:35
Ben
Yeah.
01:12:38
Ben
Plus you really think, yeah. Plus like you think these like Midwesterners who are having to take their family annual family vacation at Mount Olympus are gonna be able to walk up those stairs.
01:13:00
Ben
That's like 15. So yeah, that'll be fun.
01:13:12
urfavoritecoastersux
There it is.
01:13:13
Ben
I think that's technically more stairs than, uh, Verrucht had. Hold on. Oh no. Verrucht was 169 feet tall. Hey, at least Mount Olympus didn't build Verrucht.
01:13:53
urfavoritecoastersux
You still there, dude?
01:13:54
Ben
Yeah.
01:13:55
urfavoritecoastersux
OK. I think maybe cut off for a sec.
01:13:57
Ben
Oh shit, okay.
01:14:03
Ben
I was just...
01:14:04
urfavoritecoastersux
I OK, I downloaded the correct. um Sound effects so that hopefully I can stitch together a dog being kicked sound effect. To represent the owner of Mount Olympus.
01:14:29
urfavoritecoastersux
who always walks around with a dog.
01:14:40
urfavoritecoastersux
I just like to picture that it's like triumph.
01:14:46
Ben
Yeah.
01:14:49
urfavoritecoastersux
And he's like, this roller coaster looks great for me to poop on.
01:14:58
urfavoritecoastersux
and then the owner kicks him.
01:15:00
Ben
Yeah. There's a very distinct like kind of whimper sound.
01:15:09
urfavoritecoastersux
Hold on, I think I got this. Give me a give me just a moment here.
01:15:21
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, i I'm definitely gonna have this, hold on.
01:15:35
urfavoritecoastersux
Oh God. I can already hear it and it's not, it's sounding sad as fuck. Exactly how we were intending.
01:16:02
urfavoritecoastersux
All right.
01:16:05
Ben
Is it uh...
01:16:13
urfavoritecoastersux
boom okay I'm exporting it right now okay and let me just get it on onto Zencaster so I can share with you this amazing creation here we go
01:16:46
urfavoritecoastersux
OK, so save the owner of Mount Olympus.
01:16:50
Ben
um The owner of Mount Olympus.
01:16:59
Ben
Yeah, that's pretty good. and so
01:17:08
urfavoritecoastersux
Now we have that one at the ready all the time. I love it.
01:17:16
urfavoritecoastersux
So anytime that we um even so much as bring up Mount Olympus.
01:17:34
urfavoritecoastersux
That was that was definitely worth that.
01:17:40
Ben
And is it on the, is it on the soundboard now?
01:17:43
urfavoritecoastersux
Yep.
01:17:43
Ben
Nice.
01:17:55
urfavoritecoastersux
And remember, we're not the bastards. We're only laughing about the owner doing this. And also remember, that was three individual sound effects that I stitched together. And I have the proof officer.
01:18:19
Ben
That make it worse or better.
01:18:21
urfavoritecoastersux
I don't know.
01:18:31
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, so well, in case you were wondering what Mount Olympus sounds like.
01:18:50
Ben
I've just been on their homepage too, scrolling around, so.
01:18:56
urfavoritecoastersux
I wanna, yeah, if if anybody is, ah you know, good good with them stuff like that, if you could figure out a way to get that sound effect to play when you get onto their website.
01:19:15
urfavoritecoastersux
Here it is isolated just for all of you one more time.
01:19:23
Ben
Aww.
01:19:31
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, I am I can't believe mouth this owner kicks dogs That's crazy that showed up on a Facebook post I
01:19:52
Ben
Must be a listener.
01:19:55
urfavoritecoastersux
Maybe, or maybe it's just made the rounds.
01:19:58
Ben
Yeah.
01:20:07
urfavoritecoastersux
All right, well, let's see, is there much else going on?
01:20:15
Ben
Yeah, not much. It's kind of a slow summer.
01:20:25
urfavoritecoastersux
yeah there's not a whole whole lot on here great adventure the flash vertical velocity well
01:20:41
Ben
I keep forgetting that's even a thing perfect timing
01:20:46
urfavoritecoastersux
I guess the track is fully installed and they're waiting to do clearance testing so
01:20:57
urfavoritecoastersux
they're hoping to have it open in July I guess it seems about six flags the way they do things you know right and it's gonna have a fucking like the slowest fucking moving line but hey
01:21:07
Ben
Especially for a ride that only like one out of six guests can even ride because of the poor capacity.
01:21:23
Ben
God, that's so dumb.
01:21:27
urfavoritecoastersux
You know, is what it is, right? at least At least they got a big new coaster they can talk about.
01:21:36
Ben
Yeah.
01:21:43
Ben
um
01:21:43
urfavoritecoastersux
But all right, always good to ah fucking get it get an episode out.
01:21:48
Ben
Yeah. I shouldn't have smoked.
01:21:57
urfavoritecoastersux
Well, it's always good to you know also and talk a little bit about Mount Olympus.
01:22:02
Ben
Yeah.
01:22:11
urfavoritecoastersux
That's never not going to be entertaining.
01:22:14
Ben
I mean, it'll probably at least be in every episode.
01:22:18
urfavoritecoastersux
I can only imagine so because we're going to have to bring up Mount Olympus a lot more.
01:22:30
urfavoritecoastersux
I feel like if we play that every time we say Mount Olympus, it'll start an association.
01:22:40
Ben
Yeah. Oh, for sure.
01:22:41
urfavoritecoastersux
yeah
01:22:51
urfavoritecoastersux
Oh my God. All right. Well.
01:22:57
urfavoritecoastersux
I don't know I'm glad I'm glad we're doing this I guess we'll we'll come back but if it's all just gonna be Top Thrill 2 and in Hyperia because it's just they're not open yeah right I mean media day happened and then vamoose
01:23:10
Ben
Yeah, there hasn't been enough reviews yet of either of them.
01:23:25
urfavoritecoastersux
But yeah, we'll ah we'll be catching up more soon. We'll be getting more of these episodes out to all y'all. I don't know. You got any park visits planned?
01:23:40
Ben
Not really. I might go out to Lost Island at some point um when I have to go to Omaha because I think it's just under three hours from there.
01:23:44
urfavoritecoastersux
Nice.
01:23:52
Ben
So figure if that's close enough to go visit. We'll see though. I'm not sure yet.
01:24:05
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, well, I mean, that could be fun. I ain't planning shit, really.
01:24:18
urfavoritecoastersux
ah Still looking decently alright for Disneyland in August.
01:24:23
Ben
Yeah, nice.
01:24:24
urfavoritecoastersux
or at least D23. Park may or may not be a possibility.
01:24:29
Ben
Yeah.
01:24:30
urfavoritecoastersux
Because at that time, the weekend pricing is up to almost $200 for a single park ticket.
01:24:39
Ben
the yeah That seems about right.
01:24:44
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah, and I'm not saying it's not worth it. I'm just saying I don't know if I and find 200 bucks to go to Disneyland for a single day.
01:24:52
Ben
Yeah, right.
01:24:53
urfavoritecoastersux
in in August for August, you know.
01:24:56
Ben
Right.
01:25:00
urfavoritecoastersux
But I'll probably make it out to Great America a few times. Sky Stryker is going to open this week, I think.
01:25:06
Ben
OK, cool. Yeah, that right. um I mean, it's cool they're getting one, I guess. I don't know. It's something new, at least. That coaster route of theirs, though, is
01:25:21
urfavoritecoastersux
Currently the longest in the park's history.
01:25:23
Ben
Yeah.
01:25:28
urfavoritecoastersux
So we'll see what happens there.
01:25:37
urfavoritecoastersux
And there's a there's a interesting cohort of enthusiasts online who seem to be of the mindset that not only should American Eagle be RMC'd,
01:25:53
urfavoritecoastersux
They should wait until 2026 to do a major attraction because of the the anniversary.
01:26:08
Ben
I mean, it makes sense. I could see them doing like a revamp over an arm. See though. I don't know. Or take out demon. Put something there.
01:26:21
urfavoritecoastersux
I feel like demon would be a better spot for an RMC fucking raptor.
01:26:25
Ben
Yeah. Yeah.
01:26:28
urfavoritecoastersux
I think a custom layout raptor would be awesome there.
01:26:37
urfavoritecoastersux
And I think it could take that spot and utilize it super well.
01:26:41
Ben
Yeah, for sure.
01:26:47
urfavoritecoastersux
I mean, they could even keep the double corkscrew
01:26:58
Ben
Yeah, the. I mean, they'd have to redo all that rock work anyway, but at least the tunnel. Keep it. Over the over the midway. If you got some ideas.
01:27:16
urfavoritecoastersux
ah Hopefully they'll be doing something Fingers crossed, right?
01:27:18
Ben
Yeah.
01:27:22
urfavoritecoastersux
But um, you got anything else Ben?
01:27:25
Ben
No, it's just, I don't know. It's summer.
01:27:30
urfavoritecoastersux
Go ride some rides or go to a park Alright,
01:27:39
Ben
Things will pick up, but things will pick up in like July.
01:27:40
urfavoritecoastersux
uh, well Yeah, definitely
01:27:45
Ben
Team Park, it's like knowing it's like June is it's almost like everybody's busy in June and then. People get busy with like summer shit and then towards the end of the summer, the coaster stuff starts picking up again.
01:28:08
urfavoritecoastersux
Yeah.
01:28:11
urfavoritecoastersux
Alright.
01:28:11
Ben
but
01:28:12
urfavoritecoastersux
Well, fucking A, man. Good times. Thank you all so much for listening.
01:28:20
urfavoritecoastersux
Ooh. And, um... Shit, I don't know. Until next time, your favorite coaster sucks.
01:28:29
Ben
Your favorite coaster sucks.
