Hello and welcome to From Dublin to Cleveland. i am Logan Howard. I am joined by the ever-present, ever-ever-vescent, Brendan Thomas Merritt.
00:00:14
Speaker
How's it going, Brendan? How are you today? I'm going to be perfectly honest, friend. The effervescence electronic. It's not a natural glow. It comes from a machine that I tried to grab too deep. He's glowing. 10 centimeters from the camera.
00:00:32
Speaker
yeah He's glowing, folks. and It's natural. Don't let him fool you. Those of you who don't watch the video, don't let him fool you. It is totally natural.
00:00:45
Speaker
Yeah, so all this plugged into my laptop. it It may be approaching midnight there, but boy, it is daylight on Brendan's face. Apart from that just the absolute blackness in front of me and four meters behind.
00:01:01
Speaker
Yeah, apart from that. Anyway, i like live in daysley the wardrobe, the bar is my bed. The rest the room is probably as dark as shadow. Yeah. Anyway, if you click clicked on this video, you have noticed that this is our fourth anniversary. So technically, this is the start of the fifth year of doing this podcast.
00:01:24
Speaker
um Pretty crazy to think about it. Brendan, can you believe that we've been doing this since 2021 it is currently 2025?
00:01:32
Speaker
I actually can't. That is properly ridiculously insane. Especially considering we still have a man in person. Yeah. that's that's a crazy That is crazy too. You know, you would think most people would just give up at this point, but
00:01:50
Speaker
you only have 20 to 25 people listening to your podcast every week. Why won't you give up? We do it for you. We do for the band.
00:02:01
Speaker
but but now sometimes people are like you know ah so who's your best friend and i' like oh his name is logan i'm like oh what's he like but know and madam and i met him but isn't that the best kind of friendship like here's the thing the more time you spend around someone the more opportunity they have to let you down Like distance from someone emotionally, figuratively, geographically, however you want to interpret distance.
00:02:34
Speaker
the less opportunity they have to break your heart. So maybe that's the clue to the rise adverse issues. Maybe that's the clue to solving the dysfunction in the body of Christ.
00:02:49
Speaker
Maybe people spend too much time together and actually, because yeah i make it sound as though I'm promoting another global lockdown. going stop and stop.
00:03:00
Speaker
Somebody's rebuking you in Jesus's name. Someone just flipped this scene used this against me to end the line.
00:03:10
Speaker
Somebody's rebuking him. Lord, don't let don't let his words be true. Lord, I rebuke therapy. Yes, yes. But no, it is it has been quite a journey. I've and i've enjoyed it.
00:03:22
Speaker
And ah we will meet one day and in person, most likely before Christ returns. um But if not, I mean, then we're we're perfect at that point. So like, we're perfect at that point. yeah no No problems there.
00:03:41
Speaker
The grandma and your soul when you're in heaven. Yep. Yep. So what we're doing today is we're going to have some questions at the end that we'll go through of review of our podcast, some thoughts we've had on doing, you know, 150 some odd episodes at this point, and also having done it for four years. And maybe it will help you for those of you who are interested in doing your own podcast of...
00:04:05
Speaker
being encouragement because, um like I said, we don't make billions of dollars. We don't even make any money off of this. We use our own money to continue to make this podcast go, but we don't do it necessarily for um ah for ourselves.
00:04:21
Speaker
We do it for ah our kids, maybe who will listen one day, and we do it for you, our audience, that willingly listen to us for... some reason and continue to listen to us for some reason, even if it's just some computer or chat GPT that is actually listening to us. I don't know.
00:04:37
Speaker
Nobody sends us an email at this point. So I don't know if anyone actually still listens to us. I just know the numbers are still there. So if you are a computer, would you please type in ones and zeros and send me an email at fromdoublendocleaven at gmail.com.
00:04:51
Speaker
If you are a human, also send us an email. We want to hear it. Even if it's in a different language, we have things called Google Translate. We know how to translate things. So please send us an email.
00:05:03
Speaker
Please send us an email. read Anything. You can tell us what we, like you said, what what kind of tea you like. All right. What's your favorite brand of tea? Send us that. We'd love to hear it. Yes, Logan, I literally just had a very, very heated conversation about tea time in Ireland and how it's gone to the dogs.
00:05:23
Speaker
Yep. As soon as they start putting grass in your tea, run. Yep. I'm talking about you, lions. Don't make me switch to barons. No one outside of Ireland knows what that means.
00:05:36
Speaker
But lions, they're not. Yes, yes. Well, anyway, today, so we're gonna have that at the end. board then The next thing we're gonna do, what I'm about to pull up on the screen, is we are going to go through some and NBA logos and Brendan's gonna try and guess them. So this is the basketball league that we have here in America, National Basketball Association.
00:05:56
Speaker
I have 10 teams and Brendan's gonna try and guess what is the name of the team and where are they from. So without further ado, let me pull up my screen here.
00:06:08
Speaker
and share this. Quick question. Are there any excuse expression, female basketball sports team here or just like real actual basketball teams?
00:06:23
Speaker
No, these are men's leagues. We don't believe in the but women's leagues. All righty, here you go. Here is your first logo.
00:06:35
Speaker
See if you can describe it for us and tell us what team and where they're from. Okay, here we have a stylized C. It almost looks like a chakram with a sword in the middle. I'm going to say C is for Chicago and sword. I'm going to say the Chicago Warriors.
00:06:57
Speaker
no Chicago Warriors. It could be, but I'm going to go Chicago. i love it first. It is Cleveland up like Cavaliers.
00:07:09
Speaker
Cleveland Cavaliers. i want Yes, the ah double C thing. That's there but what they're going for there. Where's the double C? I just see one.
00:07:20
Speaker
No, no, no. no it didn You're right. But Cleveland Cavaliers, it works for both. Oh, I guess. i yeah All right. Here's your next one. and Okay, I'm going be less quick to answer this time.
00:07:34
Speaker
ah um I don't know if that's a horse or a dragon. It looks like a reptilian equine. It's navy and the red, it looks like it's jumping out of like tomato ketchup or something.
00:07:54
Speaker
um This is going to be the hardest one. I'm just going to say it. Uh-huh. Okay, only think of a place that has lots of horses. and Mexico. Although Pennsylvania, doesn't Pennsylvania have a lot of like fields?
00:08:12
Speaker
Like rich people with horses and things?
00:08:15
Speaker
Where do they talk like this and wear big cowboy hats? um That's...
00:08:25
Speaker
That'd be Mexico, no? Um, the Mexican stallion. No, the country. Texas.
00:08:36
Speaker
I thought I said Mexico. I knew something was wrong. The Texan stallions.
00:08:44
Speaker
Texan Stallions. Okay, so here is, um go I'm going to give you the logic before I give you what the answer is. So need the town where this team is from is Detroit, Detroit, Michigan.
00:09:00
Speaker
um i then I thought of the word Detroit like two minutes before logging on and I was convinced that Detroit was going to show up here somewhere. Yes. So Detroit, Michigan um is where this team is from.
00:09:11
Speaker
And what they make in Detroit was that is where the automobile was begun by a one man named Henry Ford. yeah And Henry Ford, um that he his brand, of course, was Ford.
00:09:27
Speaker
And Ford created a specific car called a Mustang, which is a car that I own. Oh, like Mustang, Sammy. Yeah. In general, they they created cars, and inside of cars there is a thing that makes the engine go, which is called a piston, and so they used this to be referred to the Detroit Pistons, because the idea of horsepower and powering a car, they mixed it in and somehow came up with adding a horse to call it Detroit Pistons.
00:10:02
Speaker
It's weird logic and doesn't make complete sense, but that's what it is. The Detroit Pistons is the team's name, and they use a horse. Excuse me, my goodness.
00:10:17
Speaker
Yeah, like I said, this was the hardest one. um And i I will say, for those of you listening at home or watching this and you say, but that's not the real logo. Well, I know it's not the real logo because their real logo gives away what their team name is.
00:10:32
Speaker
So I had to use an alternate logo. So moving on. Actually, Henry Ford's Came from County Cork. He came from the biggest county in Ireland, as safe as you can go. There you hey go.
00:10:45
Speaker
All comes back to Irish people. Does. Your whole country is a sham. ah All right. Here's the next one you've got. Oh, my goodness.
00:10:57
Speaker
and as I was going to say the Green Ranger, but I suppose that's like a Power Rangers. um Okay. It looks like a really...
00:11:10
Speaker
Angry male deer. He's not all that happy to see me. He's...
00:11:20
Speaker
Dark green. looks like something you'd see in a horror movie. Look at those antlers. Shakers. Like a thorn bush. Aggressive, yeah.
00:11:32
Speaker
Let me see. deer. to Is a female deer. A baby deer is a fawn.
00:11:42
Speaker
What's a daddy deer called?
00:11:50
Speaker
Hmm. not It's not green deer. That'd be a stupid name. Um...
00:11:59
Speaker
Green deer.
00:12:02
Speaker
Green ranger. Why am I coming back to ranger again? Green antlers.
00:12:11
Speaker
The emerald book.
00:12:14
Speaker
I
00:12:17
Speaker
wonder something there. Why am I? I'm going to go with book. um
00:12:28
Speaker
Let me see. Where has a lot of deer in the US? Um...
00:12:39
Speaker
gar Canada is known for having moose all over the place. Alaska is close to Canada. I'm going to say the Alaskan Bucks. You've got the Bucks correct.
00:12:52
Speaker
It is the Milwaukee Bucks. Never heard of it. Milwaukee, Wisconsin is where it's located. So the state of Wisconsin. so I can't tell whether they have bookss a lot of Bucks or not, but they do have some.
00:13:09
Speaker
All right, here's your next one. Okie dokie. Okay, we've got a basketball and a P. P is Pennsylvania.
00:13:20
Speaker
The basketball
00:13:27
Speaker
has been shot. And... and
00:13:34
Speaker
Pennsylvania Shooters? No. They'd be afraid of any gun references in their title.
00:13:45
Speaker
You passed the bowl. Pennsylvania Passers?
00:13:51
Speaker
Pennsylvania...
00:13:55
Speaker
Scorers?
00:14:00
Speaker
Missiles?
00:14:04
Speaker
Ball throwers. Bouncers. The Pennsylvanian bouncers. The Pennsylvanian. You know what? Hmm.
00:14:17
Speaker
I'm sure Pennsylvania has at least some edgy people. The Pennsylvanian shooters. Shooters. Okay. This is the Indiana Pacers.
00:14:31
Speaker
Stupid name. The P stands for Pacers.
00:14:36
Speaker
Indiana, get your act together. There is nothing distinct about your people there. Nothing. Yeah, they're pretty... That's as though he knows. Yeah, they're pretty boring, I'll be honest.
00:14:47
Speaker
you you you're You nailed it. All right, here is your name. many times have they won the championship? Exactly. They tried to win it this year, but they failed. so Of course they did, because of a stupid name.
00:15:01
Speaker
And no one wanted to cheer such a stupid name. Although Pacers Passers. I wasn't entirely off when I threw that out there. No, you weren't too far off. Alrighty, here's your next logo.
00:15:13
Speaker
Ugh. The Demonic Torus. A Red Bull. Um... This one doesn't do' have wings, but it's got blood on its horns. Um...
00:15:27
Speaker
Let me see no I'm gonna assume this is the Demonic God, Baal. and which would be New York or California.
00:15:40
Speaker
New York has problems, but I think California is the one that you guys are constantly joking. You need to just crap out. um The Californian Bulls.
00:15:54
Speaker
Final answer. California Bulls. This is the Chicago Bulls. this is the chicago bowls Chicago Bulls.
00:16:07
Speaker
That makes sense. Chicago has a lot of shooting as well. yeah Also, when you flip it upside down, it's interesting.
00:16:19
Speaker
One of those weird logos, if you flip it upside down. there's I don't know. well That's like a
00:16:29
Speaker
It's like a robot. alien It's a robot alien, yeah. Yeah. Kind of weird. Yeah, yeah. I see it now.
00:16:41
Speaker
Alrighty, moving on.
00:16:45
Speaker
Oh, this is the lovely man who got electrocuted.
00:16:52
Speaker
Benjamin Franklin. yeah Yes.
00:16:56
Speaker
Who's according to 2024's Doctor Who was an Indian. That show has totally gone to the dogs.
00:17:07
Speaker
Benjamin, where were you from? that is a That is a good good clue. Where was that tree from which the apple fell on your head?
00:17:21
Speaker
That was George Washington. That was ah was not him.
00:17:26
Speaker
Wait, wait, wait, wait. George Washington chopped down a cherry tree, but the apple that hit someone in the head, that was not Ben Franklin. That was, ah wasn't that Edison? Oh, that was Isaac Newton.
00:17:37
Speaker
Oh, Isaac Newton, right. Yeah. Oh, is he the guy that Doctor Who said was Indian? I don't know.
00:17:45
Speaker
This is Benjamin Franklin. Yes, i look at us being very historically accurate. We are naming all the things that actually happened to Benjamin Franklin. No, he he this one this guy created the the lightning rod.
00:18:00
Speaker
Indeed he did. Without dying. Good for him. Amen. And he featured an episode of The Office and Dwight Shrews was like, I'm pretty sure this guy's legit. I think this is the real one.
00:18:14
Speaker
Yep. but Benjamin, where were you from, man?
00:18:22
Speaker
He was from...
00:18:25
Speaker
Michigan. And these are the Michigan Franklin Meisters.
00:18:35
Speaker
Okay. Well, I'm going to give you a hint. that The numbers on his logo is very important. The number or the numbers on his shirt is very important. Okay. was wondering if it was.
00:18:47
Speaker
um
00:18:50
Speaker
The Michigan 76ers. So this team name is the 76ers. You're right. They are from Philadelphia because that is where Benjamin Franklin was from.
00:19:06
Speaker
The Philadelphia 76ers. That's allowed. That's acceptable. All righty. Now comes for the cultural appropriation of the day.
00:19:21
Speaker
Ah, yes, so going go to a leprechaun there with his chilele, the magic stick.
00:19:30
Speaker
Okay, a lot of Irish men and women emigrated the U.S. and to Boston in particular during the Great Irish Famine while the
00:19:42
Speaker
infamous neighbors on my right hand side. We're busy bringing about um one of our many genocides. um So I'm going to call these the Boston Leprechauns.
00:19:55
Speaker
So close. Now, ah you you guys refer to this as Celtics, right? yeah In America, we don't call them Celtics. We call them Celtics.
00:20:10
Speaker
So these are the Boston Celtics. Wrecks my head. Yeah. Yeah. We call them the Boston Celtics, even though it's actually the Celtics is what it should be called.
00:20:24
Speaker
Okay. is evil When Irish feel here is Celtic, we think of like an English soccer team. So I may have to go to Boston and just educate all your millions of people who live there and tell them, that's not how we're pronounced.
00:20:43
Speaker
Actually, fun story on this sidebar. I once had a colleague who was talking to American-Irish woman, so as in her parents were Irish, but she'd spent her whole life in America.
00:20:56
Speaker
And i think she was like 40 years old. And my friend was like, hi there, how's it going? Hi, man. And this lady from the US s said, hi there, I'm Sayoban. Now my friend just laughed and laughed and laughed at what a ridiculous name this was.
00:21:11
Speaker
I was like, huh? I'm Sayoban. my friend was like, well, that is so peculiar. So the American woman wrote it down and the Irish woman was like, that's identical to an Irish name.
00:21:29
Speaker
It just doesn't have that pronunciation. And American lady said, well, yeah, my parents went to Ireland 41 years ago and they saw this beautiful Irish name written down.
00:21:40
Speaker
So, um you know, they got pregnant with me. i was a girl. So they gave me the name Sayoban to remember there's time in Ireland. And my friend was like, Chikatita, that's pronounced Siobhan.
00:21:54
Speaker
A B-H in Gwielga is a M. Your name is Siobhan. For 40 years, you've been mispronouncing your own name. You are Siobhan Siobhan Siobhan.
00:22:06
Speaker
So I may have to go to Boston and just set up a placard and tell them how to pronounce C. Yeah. I didn't have a K Gwielga, so C is a But I'm impressed that you got the the Boston part. That was pretty good. and so that That was my historical know-how.
00:22:28
Speaker
As well as Benjamin Franklin. This is another logo that is not the original logo, but the original logo is so boring that they just say the name of the team on it. So I had to and to find something else.
00:22:42
Speaker
Okay. A black bee, a white ball, a black background, I'm going to assume that all these basketball players are Black. And therefore, they come from... is really Black place in the... I'm going to Chicago. The
00:23:06
Speaker
the Chicago Blacks. Black Chicago. this The Chicago Blacks.
00:23:13
Speaker
Okay, well, you're not too wrong with the colors. I mean, it it is a ah that genre um is the Brooklyn Nets. Is their their team name. The Brooklyn Nets.
00:23:26
Speaker
Used to be New Jersey. Moved to Brooklyn. Changed their colors to all black. Have nothing original about their team logo. They're the Brooklyn Nets. Yeah.
00:23:39
Speaker
Alrighty. Next one.
00:23:44
Speaker
and N. P. Sign. Okay. The New York Killers. The New York Kites.
00:23:54
Speaker
The New York. and and
00:24:04
Speaker
The New York Killers. yeah Okay. so their original name that they don't go by anymore is the New York Knickerbockers.
00:24:17
Speaker
sister What is a knickerbocker? I know what knickers are. and know what a boxer is. don't know what knickerbocker is. That is a good question. For another day.
00:24:32
Speaker
But they are currently called the Knicks. Currently, they're the New York Knicks. I've heard of the Knicks, but I thought it was spelled N-I-K-S.
00:24:42
Speaker
No, it starts with a K. It's K-N-I-C-K. Oh, N-Y-K, Nick. yeah yeah oh Yeah, I have heard of the Nick's. Yeah, I just didn't think of sounding it. actually I should have gotten that one yet.
00:24:54
Speaker
no No problems. You got New York. That was important. All right, last one. Okay, this looks like the world is burning and dissolving at a steady pace. Okay.
00:25:13
Speaker
Where in the US are they obsessed with climate change and global burning and boiling? and San Francisco.
00:25:25
Speaker
San Francisco flame eaters. San Francisco fire eaters. San Francisco burners. San Francisco arsonists.
00:25:36
Speaker
Californian arsonists.
00:25:40
Speaker
Reds. The San Francisco Reds. Red hot chili peppers. Red Mohawk.
00:25:56
Speaker
The San Francisco Reds.
00:26:02
Speaker
So in the future, we are doing um you know ah an episode on logos and where we look at them and how they've been ruined. This is apparently a basketball team's logo.
00:26:13
Speaker
And the one they had before was a a red raptor ah that was dribbling a basketball. That was the logo. That sounds good. This is their replacement, a basketball with, if you look at these little like ripples or whatever, it's supposed to be like a Raptor is holding the ball.
00:26:34
Speaker
But unless you know that it's the Toronto Raptors, you're never going to find out it's the Toronto Raptors. Hence why I neither side Toronto nor Raptors. Yes. Yes. So I made it much more difficult than it needed to be this time.
00:26:48
Speaker
But, hey, I wasn't just going to put the logo up there with the team name on it already because that's all the and NBA has turned into. Oh, look, there's the Cleveland Cavaliers. Oh, look, it's the Detroit Pistons.
00:27:01
Speaker
Nobody just has a logo and look at it and go, oh, okay, I can figure it out. No, they don't do that anymore. So ah I guess it's my job to make it more difficult.
00:27:17
Speaker
ah Well, anyway, that has been and NBA Logos with Brendan. And I thought you did okay for it being exceptionally hard. ye um Now we're going to transition into more of our anniversary, right? Some of the enjoyable parts of our podcast. So if you think back, Brendan, what would you say was the moment that you were like, this podcast has to happen?
00:27:43
Speaker
Like, what was the thing that made you say, we need to do this versus just saying we need to do it and actually doing it? What do you think was the motivation behind why we did this? Oh,
00:27:58
Speaker
Well, I remember when we became friends, it was on someone else's Discord channel. And...
00:28:05
Speaker
but i think I had posted, like, weapons that bought at Comic-Con or something, and then we just began having, like, a full-on conversation of, like, 100 or 200 messages on that one thing.
00:28:18
Speaker
And then then you suggested... We should probably, like, you know, before our conversations get to... personal, take it off this public forum. um And then our solution was but just have our personal conversations on a podcast instead. Every week.
00:28:40
Speaker
o Why let only that particular yeah Patreon group rate our opinions and the whole world could. a Yeah, because with even with the first step the episode, I do remember thinking, this is a bit mad. What's actually happening?
00:28:56
Speaker
But then I think the moment you mispronounced my name in that first pilot episode. ah Brandon Thomas Marriman. Still haven't met the guy. He sounds great.
00:29:09
Speaker
I think there was just something about it. just Sloppy and unprofessional and messed up and ridiculous the whole thing was. Given that my name was on the screen for you to read.
00:29:20
Speaker
and I just said there's something authentic and organic about about this. Let's just see what the heck happens. Yeah. Yeah. ah I genuinely didn't think it was going to happen. And I don't know if it was me just saying, hey, we should do this. And then, OK, how would we do it? Oh, we just have to do this. And we have to do this. OK, let's do that. And then, i don't know, most of the time in my life, I think that when I say we should do things with people, that I'll never hear from them again and they won't say anything about it.
00:29:52
Speaker
But for some reason, this was one that just was like, okay, no, let's actually do it. So then we did it. And then we went, okay, well, that was fun. We should do it again. and then it just continued to happen. And at some point we made it to 150 episodes.
00:30:07
Speaker
I don't know. It just was just a blur. I don't know. Episodes happened and things went on and we sort of enjoyed every single one we did. And then it just kept going. I don't know. Yeah.
00:30:19
Speaker
At some point I thought it was just going to die, but it just, it doesn't die. doesn't die, it just keeps on getting resuscitated. Yes. No, but it's interesting because it's the same in my life too. Most often you have the people like, oh, I'm with you. I'm there for you. I'm all in.
00:30:37
Speaker
Where you go, where I go What you say, I say. What you're involved in I'll jump on board with. While you kickstart, I'm right there with you. And The reality is they're full of crap because the second the opportunity comes, they're nowhere to be found. So I understand the frustration that comes with that.
00:30:55
Speaker
And then, listen, there does come a point, if you let yourself, where you just stop suggesting anything. just stop initiating anything. and And, listen, I have no ownership to anybody's time. i don't say that with any ill intent towards anybody.
00:31:12
Speaker
yeah um But... The reality is God's kids children often make big claims, but when the rubber hits the road, when the time comes, they're nowhere to be found.
00:31:24
Speaker
And maybe because I understand what that's like, I do like to honor um my commitments or my words um to the best of my ability and other people's time the best of my ability.
00:31:42
Speaker
Um, so, uh, yeah, it's just made me that bit more, bit quicker to say yes. When, when, when I hear an actual good suggestion, uh, I know I'd already had a YouTube channel beforehand anyway.
00:31:58
Speaker
Um, but then I still kind thought, okay, you know what, when you're just relying on yourself, it's very easy to, get lazy, ah get discouraged, whatever else.
00:32:10
Speaker
And then I also thought about it in that sense of okay, at least if we're constantly doing something, it actually forces me to stay motivated on that front as well. Keep the creative juices flowing, keep uploading.
00:32:25
Speaker
So, yeah, sometimes you have to be bold, step on out, let your yes be yes your no be no. Yeah. Yeah. I think it was easy, um easy to get discouraged. it was easy to, um to not do it when it's by yourself because, you know, it's just one person, but when you have somebody else doing it and genuinely, I think there's been things that we have,
00:32:49
Speaker
we have put out that have been genuinely beneficial for people and even for ourselves. um And i think we sometimes downplay, you know, in our criticizing social media and criticizing media in general, we put down the opportunity that we actually have to speak on things because really for us, ah you know, we don't make money from this podcast. We don't do any of that kind of stuff, but it allows us to be able to just speak about things that we would not be able to speak about
00:33:21
Speaker
to the amount of people that we can when we have this. Like this goes out to um you know like Spotify, which could reach millions and billions of people. And it goes to YouTube, which can reach millions and billions of people that we would never meet in our personal lives because of where we're at in our lives. And we can actually speak into their life. And we have people who listen from across the globe, at least we think we do.
00:33:47
Speaker
Um, and so we can speak into their lives where we would not be able to, you know, generally. So that's the cool part about having something like this and be able to do it.
00:33:58
Speaker
Um, so what do you think was your original vision for the show versus what it has become? Do you think it's on the same path or is it completely different than what you thought it was going to be?
00:34:14
Speaker
Wow, it's funny. I suppose I was never, back then, too much of a wild one for listening to podcasts, I'll be honest. yeah
00:34:27
Speaker
i might listen to even today, I'll be honest, there are only a couple videos, people's videos that I would listen to on the regular, on on the whole. Yeah. um Partly it's time, and partly I don't really need every Harry, Dick, and Tom speaking it' into my life either.
00:34:44
Speaker
Um, so I don't know, maybe there were times when I thought...
00:34:52
Speaker
Ugh. So you never want to fall into just copying what everyone else is doing. But maybe there were times when I would have thought, okay, is it going to be like, um, the same as you know, every other couple white guys who have a half-season camera and decide, oh you know, let's just talk about, like, you know,
00:35:12
Speaker
whatever crap comes to mind, it's all very, you know, bro guy humor, that kind of thing. Yeah. um But the reality is, yeah, sure, there's a time for that, whatever.
00:35:23
Speaker
But you still want it to be as accessible to the multitudes, the masses as possible. bob And the reality is, as God's kids, we do want something that behooves the soul as well.
00:35:37
Speaker
Something where it can be, we can have light episodes, We'd have episodes where, okay, we get a bit more real on things. um and Episodes where we talk about things which are more serious, perhaps.
00:35:49
Speaker
um Ones where maybe they're bit more whimsical, bit more imaginative. um So I suppose...
00:35:59
Speaker
Maybe at some point I thought we would have found niche per se, which has never really come up come to be. And the reality is Logan and I have like plans for at least until at this point, what, December or January? i love yeah Yeah.
00:36:15
Speaker
An hour ago? We just had another seven and we already had it booked through November. you Literally. But actually, you there's something to that as well. There is something about being...
00:36:29
Speaker
loose, and playing it hard and fast with the rules, um keeping people on their toes, not really knowing what to expect. Because sometimes things can just feel the same old, same old. So, yeah, maybe be I think at one point I thought maybe it might devolve into just 30 minutes of guy humor.
00:36:47
Speaker
um But actually, I think I like that With all the different ideas we have, we have like fix it episodes coming up of fixing TV shows and movies that are just pure crap and should never have been made.
00:37:00
Speaker
um We've got ones on um a certain French president and his quote unquote first lady. Dude looks like a lady, just saying. um We've got ones where we're going to put songs together. Summarizing the last crazy half a decade.
00:37:20
Speaker
um So lots of different ideas. and I think i would have thought we'd find a niche. We haven't. But I think that's turned out to be a good thing.
00:37:32
Speaker
Keeps it fresh. Exciting. Yes. Yeah. I think it's, uh, honestly, so I know that, like you said, a niche thing. Um, my whole thing was, i don't think I ever wanted a niche unless there was like, uh, I think we, our podcast was set up to always be something that is, it can always mold and change to what we'd want it to be.
00:37:56
Speaker
Um, Which I think is is just fits both of our personalities, because i think if we had gotten into like, oh, we just review a TV show, I think we would have probably like bored our brains to death. And we're just been like, why are we doing this? This is dumb.
00:38:12
Speaker
but the fact that every single time we can get on and we can talk about things that whether they're going on in our lives or going on in our relationships, in our friendships, um in our world, and we can just immediately talk right to it and just address the elephant in the room and then move on to what we're doing.
00:38:29
Speaker
And that's what I really enjoyed about, you know, not only our relation, our relationship, but also just this podcast that we can just kind of say what is going on through our brain and get it out. And, um,
00:38:42
Speaker
It's almost like a therapy session, but it's not necessarily a therapy session. So we don't ever go into it to be like, just listen to all of our problems. Because, I mean, for most of you who have listened long term, you know we don't just sit around and complain about all our problems. We do it beforehand, before we start the podcast.
00:39:00
Speaker
That's the bit you miss, you know. If you ever wanted to pay for a real audience. Yeah, if you ever want to pay for a Patreon, that's what it is. ah It is mess, but it's I'm sure it's comical and entertaining too.
00:39:13
Speaker
Or morbidly depressing. maybe ever Yeah, or morbidly depressing. Anyway, yeah, so it's it's health helpful there. um So, which episode, if you think back to the ones we've done, have you watched the most?
00:39:30
Speaker
And which one would you say was the one you're most proud of? Oh my goodness.
00:39:38
Speaker
Jeepers. Do you have an answer to those? um I have a an idea, yeah. um I think i think there was there was one we did. ah so there's there's moments, right? There's one where...
00:39:59
Speaker
I just had like this super curly hair that was going on. And that just was amazing. Like when I go back and watch it, I'm like, oh, dude, that is like legit where I want my hair every single day.
00:40:12
Speaker
um But there's also some that are horrid, literal literally horrid. I'm not sure how I was. The episode of your hair. legally allowed to be on a screen for my hair like it was just like pulled all the way back like this and my hair was just like rolled over and like how did brendan not say you look like a bum what are you doing on the screen oh there were a couple of times and i was like oh he's gonna appear like that today okay but yeah Who am I to comment on some of his appearance?
00:40:44
Speaker
Yeah, I it was just wild looking back on that, that i I went on screen with that. So some of those are kind of interesting to look back on. There's an episode at some point just on your hair.
00:40:56
Speaker
Yes, that would right that would be a riot. um Part of me is deeply proud of the like recap episodes because that was a lot of work.
00:41:10
Speaker
I listened to every single episode and had to find segments that I thought was the best segment of each one and then compile those all together. There was a lot of work to do.
00:41:22
Speaker
It was a lot of fun. um and there were things I found that like either Brendan said, or I said that were just absolutely, um ludicrous And I can't believe that we said it.
00:41:35
Speaker
um But that was that was a lot of fun. um I think of the recent ones that we've done. um i am uh i'm pretty proud of the the house of david review we did that was a lot of fun to do um also the office q and a as uh dwight and uh and um uh uh michael steve carell but yeah michael scott michael scott yeah that was a lot of fun i really enjoyed that um
00:42:13
Speaker
And then i think before before that, The Fear of the Lord was a good series. I enjoyed doing that last summer. um and Yeah, I think probably the oldest one. I really loved that story where we just made up a story from the Bible that was completely wrong and messed up and was just ridiculous. And um I remember we got some like not so kind messages about that. Like, why did you mess with the Bible?
00:42:44
Speaker
And I thought it was great. Like. it was It's one of those in in the moment, right? At the time, i was like, oh my goodness, people hate what we've done. This is horrible.
00:42:54
Speaker
But as you look back on it, you're just like, that is so dumb. It's hilarious.
00:43:02
Speaker
Well, you know what? Doesn't that tell you a lot about where the state of Christianity is? Yes. If... For those here who weren't with us on the journey back then, it was basically... trying to remember hey how it was framed.
00:43:23
Speaker
It was like you had to start of the Bible story, but you then have to change what happened next or or so something to that effect. Or we had certain words, had to reassemble them in a fictitious... Whatever way it worked.
00:43:36
Speaker
yeah But if you can't take a bunch of jokes. from other Christians.
00:43:44
Speaker
How does such a believer respond when one of their unsaved colleagues starts nearing the word of God? Or when they see something on social media they don't like?
00:43:55
Speaker
Or a Christian says something true, something their pastor hasn't told them yet? Like, do you just like live on high alert just blow a gas at each time? Right? Okay.
00:44:09
Speaker
That's one of those you know check your heart kind of things. But the reality is we probably it were a little let's be provocateurs back then. But it was all men in jest and good spirits. you know Yes.
00:44:24
Speaker
My favorites were probably tell-all episodes. I loved all of them. I know we had like 9 or 10, whatever it was. Yeah, that was fun. I won't pick one out of all of them because they were all fun and different.
00:44:39
Speaker
um And the one
00:44:43
Speaker
I've listened to by the most, good heavens.
00:44:51
Speaker
Maybe... yeah maybe episode 100, possibly. Which was when, um yeah, you got a clip from every... The previous 99 episodes, which...
00:45:05
Speaker
God love him. It took him weeks and weeks to do. Every time I messaged Logan, I was like, hey, bro, how's it going? You're like, only 13. Or we're like, i'm um e or be like Hey, how's Jeff?
00:45:17
Speaker
How's life? I'm 57. I need to go to sleep. I'm listening for the third time. I keep falling asleep. That's kind of nonsense. But you went above and beyond for that. You really did.
00:45:29
Speaker
And so, yeah. Yeah, that that was a pretty special one, actually. a lot of sweat and tears went into that.
00:45:40
Speaker
Yeah. But yeah, i think I had the David as well, actually. I did. um because I thought i'd like I liked the show and then we did that episode and I'm not saying that I disliked the show but um I to advocate for people to watch it but all I could think of was more and more things that irked me about
00:46:02
Speaker
it I do know what annoyed me the most so and I don't even know I thought of it in that episode or not but what annoyed me the most is all the foreshadowing that went on yeah rather than having like an action scene in that episode, they would have like you a vision of like the death of Saul. And I'm like, hey, you're in you're on season one.
00:46:24
Speaker
If you have faith in your show, we don't need to see him dying right now. yeah Or they'd have, you know, Jonathan dying in battle in a vision or a dream. and I'm like,
00:46:34
Speaker
Stop telling believers what they already know is happening. Do something in this episode to justify the time that unbelievers are investing. or oh, you know, David, you know, he's got the potential to be so good or so bad.
00:46:50
Speaker
Okay, does he mess up a couple times in 2 Samuel? Yeah, sure, we all do. But stop... all the hinting and all the foreshadowing, just do something in that episode.
00:47:02
Speaker
I think that's what irked me the most, but I still like it, but I hadn't actually, sat and told about it for three weeks, but that the first time I could actually just blurts it all out.
00:47:16
Speaker
yeah and Yeah. Yeah. That was a lot of fun. I liked that one. Um, So two more questions. This one is sort of a fun question. I'm interested to hear what your answer is.
00:47:29
Speaker
But if you had to describe your co-host role in the podcast, how would you describe it? And would you want to switch places? I'll answer the second part first.
00:47:44
Speaker
No. Okay. like but
00:47:50
Speaker
ah How would I describe my co-host role? You know what? In my life, I spend my whole life having to be the front man. um If it's a classroom setting, obviously all the students' eyes are on moi.
00:48:08
Speaker
um If it's the Joshua Generation Church, I lead that. If it's open house ministries, my... um Revival Ministry. Okay, there are three of us.
00:48:20
Speaker
Well, there are a few of us who lead it. Maybe four or five of us who regularly teach. um And in that sense, I'm the front man when I'm teaching.
00:48:32
Speaker
And also, we have prayer meetings Monday through Friday, which I lead. um in many respects, spiritually in this and this house, I have to be the spiritual head of the home in terms of what God gives me and shows me and reveals to me and the likes, that it's nice to have one thing in my life where I'm not the one who has to always initiate and push and rally the troops.
00:49:01
Speaker
And... In fact, it's Logan who's like, hey, just check in. Rissa Laundrie's nice. And I'm like, before I even respond with a thumbs up, I'm like, this is the one thing where I don't have to send out the messages and the reminders and blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:49:19
Speaker
Which is nice. It is. It is. with all the other teachings that I do and then I put them up on YouTube or whatever, it's nice to have this that one thing or actually someone sends me the video.
00:49:34
Speaker
They've been edited. Small things, but it's nice. yeah um yeah Logan, he's definitely the hero and in this piece. um The ideas man, we worked along the ideas for the next few months, but normally it's Logan's the brains behind the operation.
00:49:54
Speaker
and the initiator, the editor, the one who waits until the whole thing is processed and then downloads it on a computer and uploads it on Zencaster and then downloads on his computer and sends it to me and all this nonsense is over the email account and all that good stuff.
00:50:17
Speaker
So, um yeah. He's a great guy. He's a great worker.
00:50:24
Speaker
Well, thank you for your kind words. i definitely go to say this so I think ah so how I would describe our situation is I am like the um ah the facilitator, right? In terms of I invite everybody into the show and then Brendan is the analyst, right? He gives all the color for what your world is seeing.
00:50:47
Speaker
Like so I like set the bones of the what's going on and then Brendan just provides ah all this ever-vesting color to what the podcast is because honestly it's not a machine i know I know but like the the verbal color and you'll just say things that are completely just from the hip that are like just a shot right to somebody's like face um and you'll just say it and like I would never say that I would just be like yeah maybe we shouldn't say that and
00:51:18
Speaker
I have no idea when it's going to come. It will just come out of right field and you'll just be like, bam, I'm just attacking this group of people today. I'll go, all right, well, we just we just killed both people.
00:51:32
Speaker
but We just lost another 10 viewers. Thanks. We're down to 15. You know, maybe to give like a ah a world view, right? For those of you who ah know what's going on in the world, right?
00:51:46
Speaker
I am like America, right? And ah he is like Israel who just immediately just goes and attacks somebody. And I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, guys, calm down. I just see Hamas everywhere I look. Hamas.
00:52:01
Speaker
People whose names I can't pronounce.
00:52:04
Speaker
i deeply ah i deeply appreciate that. um And then the fact that he works so hard on the the posting on YouTube and and um coming up with catchy slogans for the podcast episodes or for on there.
00:52:18
Speaker
um And like, they always make me want to click on them, um which means he's doing a good job. So... what that's Yeah. I'm like, what's it? I did this episode, but I don't remember. Why did you title it that? Because I didn't title it that.
00:52:36
Speaker
So that has been cool. In fact, it'd be interesting maybe in a future episode to go back and go through what Brendan titled the episode versus what Logan titled the episode because there's some interesting like things that are they not the same. and Just follow the numbers. Just follow the numbers. we have different titles, different thumbnails.
00:52:58
Speaker
Almost all of them are different. um Unless I'm really, really lazy, then I'm just like, what did Logan do? And then I'll just like steal his image and just put it like on a the the YouTube size rectangle.
00:53:11
Speaker
But so in in general, they're actually probably wildly different. Yes, wildly different. Yeah. I think your your titles are more provocative and incite you to want to either click on it or burn it with fire.
00:53:26
Speaker
Perfect. I do it for the clicks. I do it for the clicks. Yeah. It's one or the other, but yeah. Uh, I really appreciate working with Brendan and his willingness to, to do the YouTube thing. And, um, and to, ah I, I think like he said, it's, it's an enjoyment for him to not always have to run things. And, you know, he runs a lot of stuff in his life and, um,
00:53:49
Speaker
I wouldn't say that's your like favorite or happy place to be. um and but you do it People think I love this. And I'm like, people people have this mentality, give a busy man work to do and he'll get it done.
00:54:04
Speaker
What people don't realize is, yes, whatever I do, I do for Jesus, okay? Yeah, of course. Oh, my goodness. I adore the behind the scenes.
00:54:18
Speaker
I like that no one's looking at me and no one's talking to me and no one's looking for me or looking for things from me. I do. The peace and quiet. Away from the public guy Hiding away in my bedroom, behind a laptop, working on my plan for novels and global takeover and just being left alone.
00:54:41
Speaker
That actually is my happy place. I'm very, very introverted. um Because so many people need things from me and what they need from me is what God's given me and he only gave it to me.
00:54:53
Speaker
I told him I'd give it back to him. People think that I'm extroverted or always out there and I love organizing and initiating and blah, blah, blah, blah. But this is probably the one space I have where it's all just very organic and there's no sense of actually looking for something from me.
00:55:19
Speaker
yeah Yeah. yeah Yeah. And I try not to to ask too much of him. you know i wouldn't I wouldn't demand anything that I wouldn't do myself. so Very much the pinky in the rain situation.
00:55:31
Speaker
Yes. that's Very much so. but Yeah. All right. So here's the last question. What are you most excited about in the future for our podcast?
00:55:44
Speaker
What are you most excited and looking forward to? Would it be incredibly cheeky if I name-dropped a few of the episodes that we have coming up? It would not be cheeky. That would be quite a good plug.
00:55:58
Speaker
Keep them coming back. Yeah. Okay, well, we're going to do It might become a series. We'll do at least one. On the French president, Emmanuel Macron.
00:56:10
Speaker
For those of you who don't know what's going on there. has been... he has been surrounded by a group of gangsters.
00:56:24
Speaker
I'm gonna keep this language as PG as possible, because I know YouTube too doesn't like all the words I could use about him. a But he was also scooped up and groomed the age of 14. And when I say groomed, I mean that with all the contexts that possibly go through your So...
00:56:44
Speaker
and so On this channel, we've been talking for a long time um that we are living in days of justice. Revival, yes, but also justice, where God is very much exposing everything. It's a landslide of exposure, and it all has to be exposed to be dealt with.
00:57:03
Speaker
And exposure is coming France about what's going on in the first family's relationship and it's gonna it's gonna have global consequences it'll be really really cool so we're gonna look at that in some detail um we're gonna make fdc from don't move cleveland fixes and then different tv shows and movies like pretty little liars star wars the sequel trilogy etc any other ideas you have let us know um
00:57:38
Speaker
We're going make a song, but I'm going to keep under wraps because if I say that prematurely, people might be us to it. And we're going to have some Christian debates coming up.
00:57:49
Speaker
um Different things, you know, Logan and I, know, we might be best friends, but that doesn't necessarily mean we agree on everything. Or maybe there are some topics and we actually agree and we don't realize we agree because we haven't discussed it yet.
00:58:02
Speaker
Or there might be some topics that perhaps some of you will agree with. Some of you might disagree with each other. And we're not going to be fighting tooth and nail to see who who's the bestie alone and who the victor.
00:58:15
Speaker
But it is important as believers that we create a space where we can, non-confrontationally, Say, okay, some believers believe this, this is their position, and this is why.
00:58:27
Speaker
Other believers believe this, these are their positions, and why. And then release it to you to prayerfully make an informed decision. um So often the same, you know, we often joke about leftists or Democrats or socialists the bos every time they hear a word of truth.
00:58:46
Speaker
But let's be honest, Christians did it long before lefty ever did. ah And it's brought shame to the name of Jesus so so and shame to the gospel of Christ.
00:59:00
Speaker
We do have to be able to have healthy dialogues and conversations with each other. without blowing a gasket and losing our heads. um um So that's something that we're going to create a space for.
00:59:12
Speaker
and we're going bring back meme reviews and meme competitions. We haven't done them in ages. Although they're always good fun. And as meme lords ourselves, is only bright and proper that we bring them back with a bang.
00:59:29
Speaker
And we're to some Reddit reviews as well. Reddit. lot of people say Twitter or X is the most horrific thing on the internet. People who love Twitter and X say, well, actually, Reddit is even worse.
00:59:42
Speaker
So... Let's go where no man has ever gone before. To Christians exploring the dark caverns of Reddit, let's see what's being posted. Let's see what how the reputation that it had.
00:59:59
Speaker
but And if we have to endure... the ninth ring of hell, friends? Yep. You gotta go there with us. You gotta. yeah Again, someone's gonna take this out of contact and clip it at some point to our detriment.
01:00:11
Speaker
I don't care. Like Lugan said, I throw it out there. Consequences be damned. So, there's some of the episodes we cite for the future. But like I said, we we are we are good until at least January at this point.
01:00:26
Speaker
Oh, yeah. A ridiculous number of plans lined up and dates, plot it in. It's going to be good. Yes. Yes. I, I am excited. it's going to be good. Um, I'm looking forward to, ah next week where we will have some semblance of making a song on the show. That's going to be wild.
01:00:49
Speaker
Um, at least, uh, coming up with lyrics, that's going to be pretty nuts. Um, We're going to have a fun twist on it, so you'll find out next week. um We've got mean tweets about Christians. Oh, boy. We're going to read some nasty things that people have said about Christians. That's going to be... our And we're going to rebuke them.
01:01:11
Speaker
yeah and pay your you thing that And there's probably going to be things that we're going to yeah, they're right. like That's me. Sorry. but Sorry, guys.
01:01:26
Speaker
um Yeah, the the Reddit one's going to be that one's going to be nuts because that's going to be like ah the day of ah creating a an account on Reddit and just going on Reddit and finding out what's on Reddit because I have no idea what it is. All I know is it's chaos.
01:01:42
Speaker
And ah hopefully we we will not show anything that's inappropriate, but... I don't know. That's going to be an interesting episode because I don't know what I'm going into. I just know it's not a good thing.
01:01:55
Speaker
Blanking things on the screen. yeah it's going to it's gonna be the most heavy episode.
01:02:06
Speaker
Maybe we won't show the screen that week. Maybe it'll just be we read it all. Back to the old fashioned just like the two of us. Nothing popping up.
01:02:17
Speaker
Yeah. just um Yeah. ah Bible taboos coming back. That one, i had a lot of fun when we did that the first time, um even though it probably made us both lose some hair because we could not get people to understand that what we were talking about was Abraham.
01:02:35
Speaker
And there were all these words we couldn't say to guess Abraham. You can't give him Isaac. You can't give him Jacob. You know, I can't say patriarch. Yeah.
01:02:50
Speaker
yeah So that will be fun. I'm looking forward to that. um I'm also looking forward to hear some of, you know, Brendan's going to do the same time we do our meme Brendan's going to do some Irish ah presidential candidates. So it'll be interesting to hear how the politics work in Ireland. um Some of you who have never any experience of knowing what what the Irish politics is like and you're from America.
01:03:15
Speaker
Reunify the country. You're going to go insane when you hear what they do to select people. So um we in America are just like, nope you get one vote. That's it. You're done.
01:03:28
Speaker
You don't get these like list your top 10 or 20. or twenty twenty Yeah. If people run, they're all in the vi That's it's interesting.
01:03:41
Speaker
So you'll, you'll hear that coming up. And then, like we said, Christian debate, ah some ah ridiculous, we're going to bring back the hot or not. We did pizza toppings before we said what goes on a pizza, what doesn't go on a pizza. And we're going to do one with a sandwich.
01:03:59
Speaker
So be excited when we pull out peanut butter and pickles on a sandwich and you'll hear our opinion then of what it is. but
01:04:13
Speaker
Not my country, not my Sambo. That's what I'm saying. yeah All right. So, of course, as always, you can find us from Dublin to Cleveland at gmail.com. um And you can, of course, buy one of our shirts. I'm wearing one right now. As you can see, our lovely logo. You can buy a shirt ah from our links down below, which I have in mind, um at at least the Spotify and Apple and wherever you get your podcasts, you can get those links and watch that. So um with that, let's move to our closing.
01:04:48
Speaker
I mean closing, we actually have two segments left, but the Bible passage, of course. We close and end our passages or end our times by reading passages. Anyway, Brendan, we're in salad today.
01:05:02
Speaker
Releasing your inner Kamala Harris. Yeah. Passages. The times. Passage times. Times passage. Passage times.
01:05:13
Speaker
The Bible is a boop. And it's God's book. And it's time. The Bible is the book of God. And it has passages.
01:05:26
Speaker
Yep. that was That was on point. But it takes ages to pass through it. it does. when it Ages. Passages. passages
01:05:40
Speaker
Yes. Yes, it does. Anyway. Because it is our anniversary episode, i suggested to Logan Genesis 2, 24, and then he began to blush, so I said, okay, we'll save that for someone's wedding anniversary.
01:05:57
Speaker
But instead, going to have gander at Ephesians chapter 4, because Ephesians just rocks my world, verses 2.
01:06:10
Speaker
Ephesians 4, 2 3. It says, be completely humble and gentle. Be patient, bearing with one another in love.
01:06:25
Speaker
Make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace. And since it is our fourth anniversary video leading into our fifth year of doing this, I'm going You're not going to accomplish a heck of a lot for Jesus in relation with his kids if you have no relationship with his kids.
01:06:47
Speaker
and That might sound self-explanatory, but meditate on that. It's it's quite profound, actually. and Because God knows that church is absolutely nuts.
01:07:01
Speaker
He knows his people are crazy. No one drives God's kids god's eye God's kids drive no one crazier than that men God. Just um imagine every single day him looking at his family on the earth thinking, what why? what why what Why Lucy, Lou, Kane, would you do that? why Deborah, Rebecca, Thompson, would you say that?
01:07:28
Speaker
Notice Logan and I never made mistakes. God never has that opinion towards us. It's always still the Lucy, Lou, and the But working together God's kids, there is great blessing in that.
01:07:46
Speaker
and sam ninety one thirteen i think it is says plant in the house of the lords I flourish.
01:07:59
Speaker
And a lot of God's kids don't want to be planted in his house because they think of how bad things were in their own house. And they project that on the house of God. Or they look at mediatized portrayals of Christians or they hear other people say and they think, oh, well I mean, I want a personal relationship with Jesus. Sorry, friend, but the Bible does not stress a personal relationship. Jesus has as much think it does.
01:08:27
Speaker
is a social relationship with Jesus. The blessing is in community. Does God love you for who you are Sure. Will he look after you? Sure, yeah, he's great, he's made them.
01:08:40
Speaker
But the blessings he has for you, they come from a place of unity. When two or more, gathered, when two or more lift up his name, he inhabits their praises.
01:08:55
Speaker
um The Lord rejoices in his people to dwell together in unity. And the oil comes down just like it does in Aaron's beard. So often the promises of blessing and provision the New Testament.
01:09:11
Speaker
In English, we just see the word you, but they're addressed to you plural. They're addressed to the community of believers. um And for that to happen, it comes from you being humble.
01:09:22
Speaker
Not being so arrogant as to think that you have it all together and everything else doesn't. But being humble enough to say, you know what, God, I've gotten it wrong a lot.
01:09:34
Speaker
I'm undoubtedly going to get it wrong again at some point. But you are always right. um And then not lording your position over others, but being patient with them as well.
01:09:48
Speaker
That gentleness.
01:09:51
Speaker
the long suffering, not in agitation, not in frustration. I've been in fellowships before where i waited for people and I thought I was waiting for them to get right with God, but actually i wasn't waiting and in love for them to improve. i was just waiting and getting redder in the face and hotter and smokier around the ears, ah but actually bearing one another in love.
01:10:21
Speaker
You can't do that with everybody, but there are people that God wants you tarry on alongside and make every effort to keep unity through the spirit of the bond of peace, love and kindness.
01:10:38
Speaker
Shalom, shalom. Peace with God and peace with others. And it's rarer than it should be. It's harder than it should be.
01:10:51
Speaker
It's not easy. But that's where the blessings of God are truly to be found. That can be in a marriage. That can be with your kids. That can be with your family, your parents. It can be with colleagues. It can be with your church family. can be with friends.
01:11:05
Speaker
can be in a podcast relationship. We're still God's kids together. um But yeah, for Logan and myself, it's not that we made a conscious decision.
01:11:17
Speaker
that our friendship would be rooted and grounded on Ephesians 4, 2 to 3. But the reality is the friendship that we have exhibits all of those things. And that's why we're still here it' today. Yeah. All right. Anything you want to add?
01:11:35
Speaker
Yeah. um I think this... this These verses go completely against where everyone else lives as secular world. um Completely humble.
01:11:47
Speaker
Yeah. No, you've got to be prideful and take every advantage of everything. Gentle. You mean I need to be kind and gentle to people? No, I just blow past them because they are not worth anything.
01:11:58
Speaker
Right. Patient. Oh, wait for anything ever in this day and age. No, we have Amazon. We can have it tomorrow. um Bearing with one another in love.
01:12:09
Speaker
You mean like I have to bear with the fact that they're dumb and they don't know what they're doing and I have to be kind and love them um and make every effort to like stay on the same side as them and support them and help them and be unified. Yeah.
01:12:24
Speaker
No. And then is it any wonder that they want peace, but they don't have peace when they don't do any of these things? Isn't that interesting? So this is completely opposite of the way the world thinks. The world is very much the opposite. And that's why they have no peace um is because they're going against what is supposed supposed to be God's plan and his order for life. They go against it.
01:12:49
Speaker
um And so, It's not an easy thing to do, like we said, um but it is possible through the Holy Spirit. It's that that change of heart going from a heart of stone um to a heart of flesh that is alive. And it takes that that relationship with Jesus Christ, that um trust in him and growth in believing in him and letting the Holy Spirit change and affect your life. And it doesn't happen instantaneous. It happens slowly over time. It's a slow process.
01:13:21
Speaker
um I know even as we read this verse, I'm thinking, boy, there are times I'm not humble or there are times I'm not gentle and I just plow through. um or there are times that i I really am not good at being patient. Right. There are things I want in my life and I just don't want to wait for them. I just want them now.
01:13:39
Speaker
um And then ah bearing with one another in love. That is really hard to do, especially when you run into people who you tell them, hey, this is what you should do.
01:13:52
Speaker
You should do this. You should do this. You should do this. And then what do they do? They do the complete opposite. And then they come back to you the next week and say, but what should I do? I just don't know why it's so a mess.
01:14:04
Speaker
and Guess what? You say the exact same thing you said the week before. and Guess what they go and do? The exact same thing that is opposite to your advice. and It keeps happening week after week after week. and What it's saying is you continue to love them and you continue to be patient with them even when they spit in your face and say, I'm not going to take your advice or worse to me, you'd be fine if you s spit in my face and didn't take my advice.
01:14:31
Speaker
Worse is when they say, You're right. Yes, you're right. I should do that. And then they don't do it. That is worse to me. I would rather you spit and say you're dumb and you're an idiot and I don't agree with you.
01:14:43
Speaker
I would rather them do that than do the opposite and say you're right. You're right. ah You're completely right. I know you're right, but not going to do it. So bearing with those people and being patient with them.
01:14:57
Speaker
And there's always going to be people who are still working in their walk with Christ or are still growing. And we have to be patient with them. And um even the people who are really mature and we look up to.
01:15:09
Speaker
sometimes they'll let us down because again, they aren't God. We have to remember that. And that's really why those things happen is they aren't God. God is the one we're supposed to be going to. God's the one that we could rely on and can help us through these situations.
01:15:23
Speaker
So um let's close quickly in prayer. And then we'll have our, our takeaways or our ah forget what we call them. um Our shout outs, right? Our things that we have at the end of the week that we enjoyed or want you to look up. So let me close this in prayer. Jesus, thank you this day. I'm thankful for Brendan. I'm thankful for ah four full years of doing the podcast. And I'm thankful for 150 some episodes. I'm thankful for all that you've continued to have us do.
01:15:53
Speaker
I'm thankful for the... The focus that you've given us to do this. I think if we didn't have time where we spent time in your words in these podcasts, I don't think they would have lasted.
01:16:04
Speaker
i think you would have removed them from our lives because they would have been frivolous and not um pointed towards you. And I think the reason the longevity has happened is because of what you have done in our lives and the fact that we've made this important to add to our podcast. Lord, I continue to pray that you'd bless our podcast, that you'd help it to grow, that you'd bring people and into the sound of our voices, that we would encourage them and point them back to you.
01:16:29
Speaker
Lord, at the end of the day, that's what our podcast is about. It's not about making money. It's about pointing people to you. help a bunch of people to hear this podcast, to hear your words, to seek you, um, to want to find out more about knowing Jesus Christ, their savior. And we just pray that, uh, you would continue to bless us and continue to allow us to speak into people's lives, that people would find this podcast. They'd find, ah find it and want to listen and enjoy it.
01:16:54
Speaker
Um, and we pray that those things we have coming, that they would be enjoyable to people and you'd help us to enjoy them as well. Uh, Because even though we do this for others, we still do it because we enjoy it too. um So pree please give us that desire to continue to do it.
01:17:07
Speaker
And Lord, help us to know when you want us to walk away. um i don't think it's anytime soon, but when you do and you close the door, we pray that it would be, ah we'd be able to close it and close it well.
01:17:19
Speaker
um And to be a blessing to, to those who have listened to us as best we can. So, Lord, here's to, we're thankful for four years and here's to plenty more, 12, 13, 14, whatever it is that you call us to do, help us to do it well. In Jesus name, amen.
01:17:37
Speaker
All right. So I'll let you, because I know I threw it on you at last minute here, but what is your shout outs of the week? I'll do mine first. All right. So um one of the things that me and my family have watched and have found, I think since COVID, ah there is a thing called gels marble run.
01:17:57
Speaker
All right. What they do is they have all these different teams of marbles that, And they create crazy backstories for these marbles.
01:18:08
Speaker
um And they basically the marbles compete in a marble race, right? They roll down um down shoots, they roll down sand traps, whatever it is, and they just have these competitions. So Recently, they just finished um the Marble Olympics. And so they've had these different events for Olympics where like a catapult shoots a marble or they're rolling under water, whatever it is, they've been doing this kind of stuff.
01:18:35
Speaker
And so they just finished it. And so, um the i'm not I guess I don't want to spoil who the winner is, but this team that won, and there's different team names, right? So there's different marbles, and so there's like the Snowball marbles, they're just all completely white.
01:18:51
Speaker
There's the Pinkies, they're all pink. There's like the Crazy Cat's Eyes, which is are like the cat's eye marbles, and they have different colors. And there's the Team Primary, they're all different, the primary colors.
01:19:02
Speaker
And there's Team Momo, and they're all M-named marbles. They roll down and sometimes they have fights. The marbles will fight each other and they like use stop action motion to like have these marbles like get close to each other like they're fighting.
01:19:16
Speaker
um It's just good comedy and enjoyable to watch and takes you out of all the chaos that goes on in our world. um And so the team that won, it was funny, the commentator was talking about, they're just breaking away, they're doing great.
01:19:30
Speaker
And they he he makes up this story or tells a story about these four, the four marbles who joined together, that they were all college roommates and they joined together to join this team. And they've not qualified for the past like seven years, but this year they finally qualified and they are ready to win the Marble Olympics and they're pulling away from everyone else and they win the championship and So then they have these little trophies for the winners and um it's just good. The commentator is great. He makes it great.
01:20:02
Speaker
um And it's just funny to watch all these marbles race each other and have personalities. And um yeah, it's, it's enjoyable. So my team has always been crazy cat's eyes. I enjoyed them from the beginning. They're just not very good right now.
01:20:15
Speaker
I don't know if they've replaced people or kicked people out or something. They just haven't been winning lately, but they were dominating early on. So crazy cat's eyes was mine. and And, um I know there are people like the O'Rangers. They're all orange. And my family, my mom likes the snowballs because they're all white and she loves snowballs. And my sister likes the pinkies and there's chocolatiers. I think there's 32 different teams at this point. So it's just it's just crazy. And there's a whole world of Gels Marble Runs. So check it out.
01:20:44
Speaker
ah Watch some of the races and maybe you'll get an element of whimsy in your life.
01:20:54
Speaker
nice nice
01:20:58
Speaker
um for me my shout out this week will be a little bit different it's not something you can necessarily just find with such ease online or on tv um but so my international ministry open house ministries um we host revival events um we had one in ireland back in june and we're gonna do our next one in november And God, back in June, that through that, someone was going to get healed of cancer.
01:21:31
Speaker
And we were like, two acres. So throughout the day, you know, we kind of had our eyes open and our ears open. And all the people we had ministry for and into was where our conferences would differ to most Christian conferences. And most of them, they're very, um,
01:21:51
Speaker
Someone's on stage and you sit down and you have a nice time with Jesus and you go home again. Whereas we actually do make space for one and one. um your time um But it's only at the very end of the day that actually one of the lead worshippers said that her sister had just been diagnosed with cancer and we'd all got so excited. We're like, she's the one!
01:22:13
Speaker
She's the one! And even as she was worshiping actually on stage, and her sister contacted her on the phone and was like, what are you doing? And she was like, well, mean, I'm at a Christian event. I'm praising Jesus and I'm praying for you.
01:22:31
Speaker
And her sister had begun to feel that Holy Spirit tingle, actually, while her sister was on stage worshiping. So her sister at Cancer wasn't even at the event. um But we pray every morning from 6 to 7, I'm not working from 6 to 8.
01:22:46
Speaker
And um I was teaching on Tuesday night on the world of heaven. And then next thing, i got interrupted mid-teaching on Zoom from my friend and her sister, who had just been to the hospital. it was by was about 9, maybe 10 p.m. at this point.
01:23:10
Speaker
And she had just gone to the doctor and the doctors were like, she has bounced back on a level that they'd never seen before. and And there'll be no need for chemotherapy in the future.
01:23:26
Speaker
had just done the most wonderful healing miracle. So my shout out is to the OHM 6am team for their continued 6am prayers.
01:23:38
Speaker
And of course to Jesus, because he is a God who heals and is willing to heal. And his Zozo salvation resurrection power is still alive and functioning and available to us today.
01:23:53
Speaker
So why well done, Jesus. Praise Lord. Yeah. is ah Is that video out on YouTube and you can watch the moment where you find out You know what? I cut it out of that video and I debated whether or not I should.
01:24:10
Speaker
And then I just thought it was such a special and unique moment for those who have been meeting every morning to pray for her. And kind of thought it's her sister who is in OHM, New Open House Ministries.
01:24:28
Speaker
Yeah. um I knew that that I recorded the lessons. but But that doesn't mean that her sister, who had who we had been praying for, was aware.
01:24:40
Speaker
sure And it's a special, intimate moment. A miracle, and just want to shout it from the rooftops, of course. Yeah. That's such a special, intimate moment that I wasn't going to stick it up on a YouTube channel without her permission or say so.
01:24:53
Speaker
That's absolutely absolutely wise. Very self-esteem. Yeah. name But I had debated whether or not to keep it in but in the end I said... Yeah. Right now i'm going to leave it as as a family thing where she can share her own story in all the raw details and this, that, and the other. Even now when I'm sharing it, I'll say I'm going to take names or anything.
01:25:17
Speaker
But um if they ever want to broadcast us, that'll be then. I'll let them lead us. Awesome. That'd be awesome. Praise the Lord. That is a cool, cool story.
01:25:29
Speaker
And it's always good to hear that God answers prayers. Right. that's That's an awesome thing. So thank you all for joining us on this lovely afternoon or evening, whenever you're listening.
01:25:41
Speaker
and We just, hopefully you have a wonderful day. Finish off well. Remember to ah be humble, right? Be generous, be kind, be patient with people and seek the unity that we can easily have among us. So have a wonderful day.
01:25:57
Speaker
We'll see you all next time. Bye friends. i' not to encourage you
