Baker Plbg
We had Abe with the Mulleted Plumber and Shelby Joneses. I think it's Joneses. um I really do appreciate it. I think it went really well.
00:00:56
Baker Plbg
You guys are absolutely my guinea pigs. There's lots of things.
Project Updates and Truth and Reconciliation Day
00:01:00
Baker Plbg
I've got lots of things planned and to make it a little bit better and more succinct and all the rest of that stuff. So we are not done. It's a it's a ever ah moving, ever growing ah target to do this bigger and better.
00:01:18
Baker Plbg
I did have, it is, don't know where to start today. had a bunch of DMs about on these boiler builds and and going from big to small. and don't think i'm going to talk about that today. i think we're going to talk about ah here in Canada, it's called Truth and Reconciliation Day, which is specifically um centered on ah
Controversy and Learning from the Past

Baker Plbg
First Nations. That's what, I'm not sure what the term is in the States.
00:01:47
Baker Plbg
um for our native ah brothers and sisters. Can I say that? ah But up here, it is First Nations.
00:01:58
Baker Plbg
um that It's become, as with everything, it's a very political ah topic. um The reason that this truth and reconciliation thing came out was because of the ah supposed um graves found at various schools and Catholic churches.
00:02:20
Baker Plbg
As most of you know, many of those have turned out to be, it has turned out to be debunked. Those weren't actually graves. um But ah there is no doubt that we
The Importance of Truth
00:02:36
Baker Plbg
all need to do better. that i just, we need to learn from the past, but we don't, like, I don't know why everybody dwells in it so much.
00:02:44
Baker Plbg
And it's a very complicated and and prickly issue for sure. And I don't want to go too far on this unless unless there's somebody on here that wants to. i And I have ah several First Nation um ah plumbers ah that message me on the regular. If they want to come on here and talk about some of that stuff, I would be delighted to sort of get a ah perspective on that and that sort of thing.
00:03:13
Baker Plbg
What I do want to say is it's I'm going to spin it a little bit because I don't want to delve into that without knowing fully what I'm talking about.
00:03:24
Baker Plbg
ah But it's important that we are truthful in everything that we do and say. I think what we say and how we say it matters. Um, certainly many of the, uh, contentions that I have here with people are, are based on the fact that I don't think that they're speaking the truth.
00:03:46
Baker Plbg
And there is a massive difference between, ah the truth or the truth and their truth and word. You need to listen to how people word things and whether they are being deliberately deceitful or they're being deliberately honest.
00:04:01
Baker Plbg
Um, And the world is like just a crazy, mixed up, and I am going to use the word evil

place. And it is your job, your job, my job, to try and make sure um
00:04:19
Baker Plbg
that we're not part of that problem, that we're trying to solve that problem. Now, that does, and in my estimation, right? That does not mean that we become contrite and, ah you know, um just let people walk all over us just because that makes them feel good.
00:04:40
Baker Plbg
I think that we need to stand up for truth.
00:04:45
Baker Plbg
and And I think most of us know what the truth is. And the and in my mind, the truth is ah faith, family, family,
00:04:57
Baker Plbg
oh and building your foundation on those two things. um And whatever your faith is, i i think as
00:05:11
Baker Plbg
part of the Christian community, ah we need to do a better job at embracing each other. We absolutely have our differences in practices and in our beliefs and in doctrine. But you know until a couple of weeks ago, ah no one knew what my specific ah affiliations were.
Religious Beliefs and Division
00:05:37
Baker Plbg
and that was ah brought out in the public because some dumb ass is trying to use it as ah as a wedge. And I won't let that happen.
00:05:48
Baker Plbg
um It is not. it i'm I've had lots of discussions since that time with people about what my faith means and where it goes. And, you know, in its simplest form, and is it is though my faith is nothing more than road markers to keep me on on the path of faith and family, looking after my family, understanding my responsibilities to that family,
00:06:17
Baker Plbg
to the people that I love and i I'm concerned about, it has ah galvanized my resolve to be better and to do better. And I think that's what faith is for, is to make those things real in your life and not just, you know, ah vocal devotions, but actually, know,
00:06:44
Baker Plbg
walking the path of of trying to be a better person, trying to ah fulfill the responsibilities that you have.
00:06:56
Baker Plbg
And you know we saw this week how people are, some people are using that as ah to be divisive, which I just don't understand it.
00:07:06
Baker Plbg
you know As we dig deeper and deeper into our um who we are and who we represent other there, we have so many similarities. so There's very little that separates us. And I do think that the powers that be, whatever you want to call it, I do think this world is, is a fallen world in a religious sense.
00:07:28
Baker Plbg
Um, and that we're here to prove ourselves for in these circumstances. Um, I, it, it's apparent to me, that there is good and there is evil.
00:07:41
Baker Plbg
And the the powers that be want to divide us and show us how different we are and instead of how similar we are. Anyway, it's a whole um ah different trajectory. i could talk about that for um for days and days and days and days.
00:08:05
Baker Plbg
I do love i do love ah digging into that stuff.
Encouragement for Open Dialogue
00:08:11
Baker Plbg
I've had four or five discussions here in the last couple of days about um um religion and sort of ah the meat of that, what that means, where that goes, how we implement that in our lives.
00:08:28
Baker Plbg
And I hope my freaking screen is freaking out.
00:08:35
Baker Plbg
You know, when you try and do something here, There we go. Anyway, I'm not going to go on for too long. I'm happy to discuss it with anybody. We should come on here.
00:08:46
Baker Plbg
i may reach out to a couple of people who I know aren't afraid to talk about what their religious beliefs are. And we might have a discussion about that. That's that's what this forum is for.
00:09:00
Baker Plbg
I think is to talk about things that concern us, that affect us and how we best navigate those. I mean, there's some landmines out there that we need to be aware of. and Anyway, i hope everybody has a fabulous day.
00:09:13
Baker Plbg
ah ah got about 20 emails to get out and a bunch of work to get done. So I wish you luck out there. As usual, these are my thoughts and not yours. All the best. Have a fabulous Tuesday.
