Speaker: Hello there, this is Philip, and you're listening to Coffee Stories. Our spotlight today is on Miriam Erin Penza, the UAE Brewers' Cup Champion 2021 and UAE Jesuit Ibrique Champion 2022. She was born in the Philippines and has lived in the United Arab Emirates for five years now, after working as a full technologist for two years at the Coca -Cola Company.
Speaker: Miriam is a self -taught artist who proudly shows her artwork on her Instagram page as she currently works at the Seven Fortunes coffee roasters in our college, Dubai. We had a coffee chat with her on one of our recent podcast episodes. You're free to listen to right after this. Nobody wants to be stuck in the same place for years and Miriam is no different. She wanted to travel out of our country and that she did.
Speaker: she went from that huge decision to becoming UAE's coffee champion. In the podcast, Miriam talks about the growth of the coffee industry in the UAE and how trends affect coffee lovers. She noted how the COVID -19 pandemic reduced the influence of trends as people returned as home brewers knowing what type of coffee they preferred and were willing to learn.
Speaker: I do what I love and I love what I do, and I'll keep choosing it every day," said Miriam as she talked about her coffee experience. Being one of the top competitors, she shares her competition experience as she answers questions from the coffee community.
Speaker: She gives tips from her routine, which could involve weeks of experiments with water, to the supportive team behind her, ensuring that all the wildest possibilities, including a cup slipping from her hand or a personalized table, occur tailed. In her non -coffee time, she cycles, skates, and sometimes goes out for a run. She encourages exercise and taking time out to relax to prevent burnout due to competition stress.
