The SnowJobs Podcast: Here we go, Snowjobs Nation. We are back again bringing you another dustings episode on the Snowjobs Podcast. As always, I'm Steve. You know who's with me.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Jeremy Lindstrom is here, and if we're doing dustings, you know who else is joining us.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Mr. Jordan Smith is in the house from storm equipment. Boys, how are we doing?
Jordan Smith: Good hour, you Steve -O.
RICK JAMES: Really good.
Jordan Smith: What's up, man?
The SnowJobs Podcast: Got the big one tonight, the storm chasing season three selection show. We're going to tell everybody.
RICK JAMES: Boom.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Who hit? Who missed? Ugh.
RICK JAMES: And if they miss, there's always next year, you know.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's it.
Jordan Smith: Always next year.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's it. You know, it's always going to be snowing.
Jordan Smith: that's right
The SnowJobs Podcast: Always going to be snowing. So, yeah, that's what we got today. We're going to do a dustings. We're going to talk about all the companies involved with this process. and the We thank everybody for getting out and voting. We had two voting companies. We have four at -large companies and maybe a couple specials.
The SnowJobs Podcast: But that's what we're doing tonight. We're going to unveil all the winners. And yeah, you guys got anything to say before we start?
Jordan Smith: No excited excited to let the cat out of the bag. It's been a long long road up to this. and It's always good to get it out in the open.
The SnowJobs Podcast: i think it went better this year right
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: It did it went really smooth Really, really smooth.
RICK JAMES: Yeah. Probably because we had those systems systems in place.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Let's hope this. The systems.
RICK JAMES: and
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yes, the systems.
RICK JAMES: this is checks and balances.
Jordan Smith: we we paid We paid a lot.
The SnowJobs Podcast: ah We had all our
Jordan Smith: We paid a lot for those systems, but they're working well.
RICK JAMES: But...
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep. ah
RICK JAMES: Yeah. We're not even using them.
Jordan Smith: i
The SnowJobs Podcast: All our systems and releases were all in place, so it was the the transition was seamless.
RICK JAMES: God.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Let's hope the smoothness continues. That's all we can hope for.
Jordan Smith: That's right.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Oh, my God. All right. So what do we want to tackle first? We want to tackle the vote winners or the at -large bids?
Jordan Smith: No, let's do the vote right away because people people worked hard at it.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Alright.
Jordan Smith: i ah We simplified the process this year, obviously. ah last year we required a video and that kind of stumbled some people up because trying to make a Snow video in the middle of summer. Not everyone has media teams full -time on there companies and even if they do they're busy so this year it was just a ah submittal and why they felt like they should be on the show, why they'd be good for it.
Jordan Smith: And then we just. put it out on socials. We didn't even promote it that much, but we got almost four times the votes we did last year, which was really cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's awesome.
RICK JAMES: Awesome.
Jordan Smith: And I... I think it's just ah all the platforms getting more. viewerships no jobs getting more listenership and then the you know, the the social platforms. just have a lot more engagement on them. so It's pretty awesome to see the amount of people that that voted. And and honestly.
Jordan Smith: The big difference this year is like every company had a decent amount of votes. Last year, there was like five that had all the votes and then the rest didn't have that many.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
Jordan Smith: This year. A lot of companies got a lot of votes, which is really cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's good.
RICK JAMES: Yeah, how many companies do we have in in the mix this year?
Jordan Smith: Like 50.
RICK JAMES: what Yeah, I knew it was.
The SnowJobs Podcast: There were a lot. Yeah, it was up there.
RICK JAMES: That's awesome.
Jordan Smith: Yeah, there was like 50 and I think there was like another seven or eight that came in too late and we told him try again next year so
RICK JAMES: And once.
Jordan Smith: Hopefully next year we'll have 70, 80. It'd be pretty cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: But there were two.
RICK JAMES: That's cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Two very clear winners of the vote.
Jordan Smith: There were. Yeah. Do what we want to go right to it?
The SnowJobs Podcast: Go. Let's go.
RICK JAMES: Let's go.
Jordan Smith: Alright. So... our Our highest vote -getting company this year. is... LEI. So LEI Corporation, they're up in Boylston, Mass., which...
Jordan Smith: i think is near boston i don't know when i hear boylston i just think it's
RICK JAMES: Mm hmm.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Bastard.
Jordan Smith: I think it's people saying Boston with an accent, but I can't do it, you know.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's it. Wicked pisser.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: Yeah that's right.
RICK JAMES: Wicked pisser. Ugh.
The SnowJobs Podcast: They all talk like that in Massachusetts, so that's no matter where you are.
Jordan Smith: But they've they... Good. They do. i think they've got a pretty big company i honestly don't know a ton about them i've i've seen them around I know they do some big stuff. I know they have ah a big team. They got a really cool website.
Jordan Smith: Um, I don't know which organization said this, but on their website it says they're a top 25 snow contractor. Whatever that means. Someone ranked him.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Who's giving that out?
RICK JAMES: Oh.
Jordan Smith: I don't know.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Is that...
RICK JAMES: Is that another Syma award?
The SnowJobs Podcast: That must be a Simon. That must be a Simon award you bought.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: easy Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: I'm just kidding
RICK JAMES: Uh...
The SnowJobs Podcast: ah
RICK JAMES: i I saw a lot of his socials thisla this last end of the winter. i really picked He really picked up on social.
Jordan Smith: Here.
RICK JAMES: I saw a lot of his melting and all that stuff he was doing.
Jordan Smith: They got really cool stuff.
RICK JAMES: Looks like those guys are doing some cool stuff. So.
Jordan Smith: Well, and I've seen him at. Saima and at some of the other shows I've seen their team members I've met them and all super nice people but I hadn't seen a lot of them on social but I agree with you Jeremy all of a sudden their videos just started popping up all over the place so
The SnowJobs Podcast: They want it on storm chasing. Woo!
Jordan Smith: That's right.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Gotta to make it happen.
Jordan Smith: well
RICK JAMES: I just saw this. I just saw one last week that they I think they just read reconditioned out snow melt or whatever made it look like brand new put a whole new circuit board and everything on for this year so
Jordan Smith: Nice.
RICK JAMES: Yeah, he would. All out. so
The SnowJobs Podcast: Well, that's also smart for attracting people to work for you too. You know, when you show cool stuff like that, you know, you're rebuilding stuff, you know, you attract employees too. So that's a, you know, it's a. It's a twofold ah attack, I'm sure.
Jordan Smith: For sure.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Cool.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: ah Look like those guys are.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Congratulations LEI.
RICK JAMES: Yeah, looks like they work 24 hours a year around, or around the clock.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: Those guys are always... corner their socials.
Jordan Smith: Yep. Yeah.
RICK JAMES: It'll be a cool one, I think.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: Definitely.
Jordan Smith: Should be really good, and and obviously Boston can get some pretty massive. Pretty massive nor 'easters coming through there. So hopefully.
The SnowJobs Podcast: This will be the year for it. Hopefully they come in snow and not rain, but the the track is definitely there.
Jordan Smith: Right. Right. So then moving on to our second. And last, vote. Pick. We have Mid -Atlantic Property Maintenance out of...
Jordan Smith: somewhere in Pennsylvania, I think like Berks County area.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Nice. yeah they're uh yeah they got a couple bases actually but they yeah they operate um in that same area as the Storks area, that kind of the Lehigh Valley ish.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: And, and they're down into Philly, I think too.
Jordan Smith: Yep.
Jordan Smith: Yep.
The SnowJobs Podcast: So. They have a nice swath of of stuff.
Jordan Smith: It seems like...
The SnowJobs Podcast: Very cool.
Jordan Smith: they cover a big area and they do a pretty wide variety of stuff so we should be able to get some Pretty good variety of different types of sites and that kind of thing with them. So that should be really cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep. Mr. Cilio, he's a character. We had him on the show.
RICK JAMES: oh yeah Yeah, he was good.
The SnowJobs Podcast: You know.
RICK JAMES: We saw him at SMS. He was he was actually talking he was talking about storm chasing quite a bit there.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: he was
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: he He's like. he was pretty pumped up about it hoping they were going to get it so
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: Congratulations on that.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
Jordan Smith: Yeah, I talked to him on the phone this weekend.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yes sir.
Jordan Smith: He was he was definitely very excited.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Very cool.
RICK JAMES: It's awesome.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Congratulations, Med Atlantic. It's awesome. Cool.
Jordan Smith: So then...
The SnowJobs Podcast: All right.
Jordan Smith: are four at large. So those, so these four are. Four that were handpicked by a combination of the Storm and Snowjobs team.
Jordan Smith: ah These are companies that we think. Represent the industry industry well, also have some kind of, each of them have some kind of unique intrigue behind them and reasons that we picked them.
Jordan Smith: So I guess just just segueing off of Mid -Atlantic, right in that same area of Pennsylvania. We're going to have a winter stone.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Winter stone.
RICK JAMES: a
Jordan Smith: So...
RICK JAMES: Winter stoners.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's it.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: The Winter Stoners. Nice job, boys.
RICK JAMES: Jonathan.
The SnowJobs Podcast: ah
Jordan Smith: Yeah. Jonathan.
RICK JAMES: I bet you Jonathan breaks the suit off for this one. The snowsuit ah that's snowflake suit.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Oh, the snowflake suit Yeah.
RICK JAMES: be Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah, that has to be on. That's actually a prerequisite.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: We are not going to film unless he has that suit out.
RICK JAMES: Yeah. Yep. There, Jonathan. There you go, buddy.
The SnowJobs Podcast: uh
Jordan Smith: Jonathan's a great, great dude. They've got some really cool. ah Really cool sites. they do they do They do a lot of the industrial ah warehouses, distribution centers, that kind of stuff.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
Jordan Smith: The stuff people like. ah like seeing on the show. So I wanted to make sure to incorporate some of that this year. And I know he does. he does some work for bobby marks with the mi2 so it'd be cool to to maybe see some of Bob's sites being done by Winterstone there too.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
Jordan Smith: So that should be cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Larry Martin better get comfortable on camera.
RICK JAMES: Let's go.
Jordan Smith: He's gonna have to.
RICK JAMES: Yeah, yeah, Larry.
The SnowJobs Podcast: and they have they really i don't know what it is about their logo but It just stands out. I like i really like their branding.
RICK JAMES: It's cool. Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: It's a really cool logo. Their trucks look good. Their loaders look really good. And, yeah, that'll be ah that'll be a really cool episode, I'm sure. Hopefully that the Lehigh Valley actually gets snow this year. Hopefully it's ah a 23 -inch year and not a 3 -inch year.
Jordan Smith: Right. Yep. Well. hopefully ah Hopefully, whatever it is, we will get out there when it snows. we we We got. really lucky season two we didn't have a single episode that we got there and it didn't snow I think.
Jordan Smith: Maybe one of the Canadian episodes, it was less snow than we expected, but we we got her done.
The SnowJobs Podcast: The doctor. The doctor was on the ball.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: ah The dock locks were were actual locks.
RICK JAMES: Dark locks, yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Nice job, True Weather.
RICK JAMES: Oh Mark.
The SnowJobs Podcast: All right
Jordan Smith: So then why don't we just stay? in that same part of the country will round out round out the northeast with uh
The SnowJobs Podcast: Okay.
Jordan Smith: with our friends from Kennedy. uh so Tom Canetti and his team.
RICK JAMES: Ooh.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Big Tom Kennedy.
RICK JAMES: Tom. It'd be a big flex on there.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's it
Jordan Smith: That's right.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Let's get the guns out.
Jordan Smith: That's right.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: Yeah. Oh, we get to see the stadium. I bet we'll get to see the stadium. That'll be badass. Let's see you that.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That would be cool.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: I mean, I've talked to Tom about that quite a bit, and it sounds like a hell of an operation. It would be cool to see.
Jordan Smith: Yeah, you know, i've I've known Tom for a long time too. They got a... a really cool company, cool operation, been in business for a long time, but but definitely. ah Big part of the intrigue there is MetLife Stadium. That's a really, really cool signature account that they have that would be really cool to highlight.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: if you've never seen any of that operation being done on video clips or something you have no idea what goes into it like i had no idea they ran skid steers around the concourses and stuff and they got those they got places in the wall that just opened up so the skids can dump snow down into the melters that are in the basement it's like it's a really cool Cool operation to see the stadium get done.
RICK JAMES: I didn't either.
Jordan Smith: Yeah. No, that'll be awesome. I think there'll be some some some good, I mean, we've done now at this point, we've done airports, we've done distribution, we've done. some retail like i think uh we did the vikings training facility but not the U .S.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
Jordan Smith: Bank Stadium. This will be the first time we've done an actual professional sports stadium, which will be really, really cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Nope.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep, absolutely.
Jordan Smith: I think if I remember right too, it's not a... ah It's a semi -pro sports stadium, but I think LEI does the Red Sox minor league team stadium as well. I don't know if we'll get that on.
Jordan Smith: on the show or not but I think.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Even Fenway's a minor league stadium at this point.
RICK JAMES: I... i thought i thought you're to I thought you were going to say the Jets are a minor league. That's what I was going to say.
Jordan Smith: ha Well.
The SnowJobs Podcast: they are They are as well.
RICK JAMES: I knew Steve would agree with that.
The SnowJobs Podcast: They might as well be. Oh, they...
RICK JAMES: I knew Steve would agree with that.
The SnowJobs Podcast: they Definitely are. What did they lose again yesterday?
RICK JAMES: I think so.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Oh man, I don't even watch anymore.
Jordan Smith: tell Tell you what, the the the most fun.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Horrific
Jordan Smith: entertaining team in sports right now is the new york giants between obviously jackson dart getting hurt but then uh jamis winston coming in and all the hilarious crazy stuff he does and then cam scataboo is just absolutely insane
RICK JAMES: Yeah. Oh, he's an animal.
Jordan Smith: he is so much fun to watch like the way that dude hits people and blocks and runs the ball is is just
RICK JAMES: He's an animal.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Oh yeah.
Jordan Smith: He's not going to last long the way he plays, but it's so much fun.
The SnowJobs Podcast: No, no.
RICK JAMES: No, he's not gonna be he's not going to be there very long.
The SnowJobs Podcast: no
RICK JAMES: but He's having fun while he's there.
The SnowJobs Podcast: No.
Jordan Smith: So much fun.
The SnowJobs Podcast: She's got maybe two seasons left.
Jordan Smith: Maybe we'll get lucky and...
RICK JAMES: It'll be...
The SnowJobs Podcast: Tops.
RICK JAMES: He'll be 40 years old and won't know where he's at.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Oh yeah.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: Heh.
Jordan Smith: But in the meantime, we all get entertained. so
The SnowJobs Podcast: Absolutely.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: All right, let's jog west.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Cool.
Jordan Smith: Let's jog west. I think this one will be really, really cool, and he's a good friend of ours, Matt McIntosh with Clippers.
The SnowJobs Podcast: What?
RICK JAMES: o
Jordan Smith: um Yeah, let's get Clippers on the show.
RICK JAMES: Clippers.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Wow.
RICK JAMES: That'll be fun.
The SnowJobs Podcast: and
Jordan Smith: So. so big hot tu or big hot button topic in the industry right now is obviously salt and the salt mafia and the salt shortage and all the other shady stuff going on around salt. Um,
Jordan Smith: Maybe it's not shady. We'll let Matt tell us. I know we did an episode about that earlier this year. but
The SnowJobs Podcast: We're gonna see. There's gonna be cameras.
Jordan Smith: We're going to see.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: Clippers has a big...
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: Clippers has a big. Big salt operation in addition to their snow op.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Well, here it is.
RICK JAMES: I've seen a lot of their videos. They're insulting. That's crazy to line up with trucks down the street waiting to get salt. and it's cool I was actually out there this summer and got to check it out in person.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: them and the Cool facility. and what they get done there and and it's not not like huge but For Monticello and shit to go through that area? Oh, my God.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: You really... He really pumps it up. so
Jordan Smith: And I guess we shouldn't assume people know where Clippers is from. So they're in the Detroit area. I think Livonia, but... Detroit area of Michigan.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah, Michigan, Ann Arbor -ish.
Jordan Smith: So.
The SnowJobs Podcast: somewhere out there
Jordan Smith: So.
The SnowJobs Podcast: He's not too far from Ann Arbor, I don't think.
Jordan Smith: so
The SnowJobs Podcast: Maybe an hour, less than an hour.
RICK JAMES: No, it's not. It's very, very close there. so
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: Yeah. Yeah.
RICK JAMES: So.
Jordan Smith: So, so far we've got four in the Northeast, one in the Midwest.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: And. no one will probably ever guess where we're going to jog west to from there
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: Because we are going to go all the way up to Anchorage, Alaska. to our friends at Signature Land Services, Tim and Jen up there.
RICK JAMES: o
The SnowJobs Podcast: There we go
Jordan Smith: Up in Anchorage, Alaska. They've already had snow this year. I just talked to them on the phone the other day. They've already had. snow on the ground so should be a
RICK JAMES: ah North. to Alaska.
Jordan Smith: That's right.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's great.
RICK JAMES: that's where we're going
The SnowJobs Podcast: It's like Canada, but better.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: yeah Because it's got the US flag, man.
The SnowJobs Podcast: ah
Jordan Smith: The... The only thing I didn't think about. and and Tim told me this on the phone this weekend when I talked to him. She's like, God, you guys want to try to film early in the year or late in the year? I said, oh, let's get it done early.
Jordan Smith: And he said, well there won't be any daylight then because it's just dark here all the time in the winter so if you wait till march at least we'll have some sunlight i'm like nah No, nighttime shoots are cool.
RICK JAMES: That's cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: No.
RICK JAMES: Nah, night.
Jordan Smith: That'll be sweet.
RICK JAMES: Night light shots, baby.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Listen.
RICK JAMES: Night shots.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: We own the night.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That is the motto for a reason.
RICK JAMES: Yeah. we
The SnowJobs Podcast: Most of our stuff is done at night.
RICK JAMES: yeah Yeah.
Jordan Smith: that's right That's right.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: i think I think he was partially referencing. I mean, ah you know, Anchorage is surrounded by mountains. so I think. there'd be some pretty cool panoramic. shots plowing parking lots with the mountains in the background, but I'm sure we can get some daytime footage of that stuff too.
RICK JAMES: Oh yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: You'll still get it. we good We'll get night vision.
Jordan Smith: The two hours of daylight to have will find it.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Absolutely.
RICK JAMES: That'd be sweet.
Jordan Smith: So I think that'll be cool. i've I've known them for a long time and and they've always... They've been kind enough to invite us up. and Now we're going to go up. and make a show.
RICK JAMES: That'd be cool.
The SnowJobs Podcast: I think we've had so... We've had everybody but LEI that won this year on the show.
Jordan Smith: Yeah, that's right.
RICK JAMES: Yep.
The SnowJobs Podcast: We've had Tim on.
Jordan Smith: That's awesome.
The SnowJobs Podcast: We've had Clippers. We've had Winterstone. We've had Kennedy. We've had Mid -Atlantic. So LEI is the only one that hasn't.
RICK JAMES: Dragon. I tried getting an LEI on this last spring, and then he was busy with the melting when I was contacting him, so we didn't get him lined up. But, yeah, I was talking to him back and forth.
Jordan Smith: Sure.
RICK JAMES: Hopefully we'll get him on here then shortly. so
The SnowJobs Podcast: Very cool.
Jordan Smith: So those are the six.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's a good lineup.
Jordan Smith: So those are the six episodes for season three, but I think we previously at least teased the fact that we're doing a little bit different. format this year. And I always remind people that... Uh...
Jordan Smith: You know, storm chasing is the the reason we do it is is for the industry and to help support the industry and to help. raise the bar and raise awareness on what it takes to do the work we do. um so we listen to the feedback and take it very seriously and we also have statistics that we can look at to show us.
Jordan Smith: when episodes do well and when they don't. Well, the reason we historically have been releasing episodes in the spring into the summer is because we film them during the winter and then we edit them and then we put them out when they're done being edited.
Jordan Smith: The problem with that is them are releasing episodes in the spring and summer when people don't really want to think about snow and they're extremely busy. And. even when you will even when you look at the youtube analytics like you can see we released season one on the same cadence all the episodes came out in the spring And then up until Syma.
Jordan Smith: And they all did fine. But then as soon as November, December hit, the following... November, December after the episodes released. So it would have been November, December of 25. All the viewership on the episode just skyrocketed.
The SnowJobs Podcast: yeah and that would make sense because that's the same literally our analytics are the same thing Like we do very well over the summer.
Jordan Smith: Yep.
The SnowJobs Podcast: We don't drop off much, but as soon as you get. what the last winter was plus like 25 % more. You know, your that's where your numbers just explode with new listeners and stuff and a whole new crop of guys.
The SnowJobs Podcast: So yeah, that makes total sense.
Jordan Smith: So what we're going to do with these six episodes for the six companies we just laid out is we're going to start releasing those in the fall. So there's going to be a longer time to wait. for the core six episode season to come out.
Jordan Smith: because we're going to release them when people are ready to watch them and when the youtube YouTube algorithm is hungry for snow content. So there's going to be a longer gap. So we wanted to fill the gap with something besides just short -form content.
Jordan Smith: So we're going to do two bonus episodes that are going to release. In. uh depending on snow but Ideally, they're going to release in February and March. We'll do January and February if we can.
Jordan Smith: so this year there's going to be eight episodes on season three Two bonus episodes ah right away as soon as the calendar turns to 2027. Then there's going to be a longer gap with some short form content. We're going to replace some reels and clips from old episodes throughout the summer. And then season six, the core six episodes will come out starting in the fall. all the way into winter and through most of the winter.
The SnowJobs Podcast: So it'll be like a real TV show. Because that's how they do it.
Jordan Smith: Like a real TV show.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: It's a year behind.
Jordan Smith: And the plan as of now for the bonus episodes is is we'll keep the details a little bit vague, but... The plan as of now is to to make sure that we can get these done and do a good job with them and get them edited up and released early is one of them is going to follow my team. uh uh storm lawn and snow and one of them is going to follow jeremy's team around so We're gonna... Going to put.
Jordan Smith: Our Storm team on camera and put Jeremy back on camera too.
RICK JAMES: Yeah. Sounds fun.
Jordan Smith: Should be great.
The SnowJobs Podcast: It's...
RICK JAMES: So who knows? Who knows what's going to happen?
The SnowJobs Podcast: That.
RICK JAMES: We'll we will'll we'll mail it. no
The SnowJobs Podcast: i mean i'm not one for formulas but that sounds like a winner
Jordan Smith: Should be.
RICK JAMES: ah
Jordan Smith: I hope so.
RICK JAMES: ah Uh,
The SnowJobs Podcast: Uh...
Jordan Smith: everyone Everyone wants more Rick James.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: We got to get more Rick James.
The SnowJobs Podcast: There's something.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: I mean, there's something to be said. The analytics always seem to ah to reflect better if Jeremy's in the episode. I don't know why, but...
Jordan Smith: 170 ,000 views today, Jeremy.
RICK JAMES: yeah Yeah.
Jordan Smith: 170 ,000.
RICK JAMES: I saw that.
The SnowJobs Podcast: My goodness.
RICK JAMES: Not bad. Not bad.
The SnowJobs Podcast: My goodness.
RICK JAMES: hey when everybody's waiting for the new season to come out they can always re -watch the other two seasons y 'all Keep watching them. So.
Jordan Smith: so So since we're talking about stats. I'm just gonna... brag on some stats real quick.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: I pulled them from YouTube right before the episode here. And this is just YouTube. This is not any of the short form content on Instagram. This is not any of the short. form content on Facebook.
Jordan Smith: LinkedIn, anywhere else. and And I will say we've done extremely well on Facebook and Instagram. um This is just YouTube. so as of Today, We're sitting at 455 ,000 unique. views.
Jordan Smith: On seasons one and two. And keep in mind, we haven't even hit the homestretch for season two yet because... It's not. Winter yet.
RICK JAMES: not Yep.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
Jordan Smith: Uh... 92 ,000 hours watched. 5 .7 million impressions, meaning 5 .7 million people have been shown. the option to watch the show.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Nice.
Jordan Smith: Um... And. Uh... The viewership is from... My stats got cut off here, but my viewership is from all 50 states.
Jordan Smith: and 17 other countries as well.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Starting to sound like the podcast.
Jordan Smith: It is.
RICK JAMES: ah
Jordan Smith: it's pretty cool
The SnowJobs Podcast: Awesome. That's really cool.
RICK JAMES: That's great.
Jordan Smith: So. it's pretty cool to see it picking up Yeah, pretty cool to see it picking up traction.
RICK JAMES: Who would have thought that?
Jordan Smith: and and
The SnowJobs Podcast: Absolutely.
Jordan Smith: It's also really cool that... i It's hard to say exactly, but... From what we can tell from the statistics. We think maybe 80 % of the viewership is from people outside the industry. You can't tell that for sure.
Jordan Smith: but just based on the click through and how they were suggested the videos. 80 % of the viewership is coming from recommendations from unrelated industries. Um... So.
Jordan Smith: in theory some of those could be snow guys but a lot of them are probably not which i think is really neat
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah. 100%.
RICK JAMES: That's great.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Very very cool does Do we have a thing on retention? As far as how how long they're watching? Are got they watching it all the way through or?
Jordan Smith: Yeah. yeah Well, I mean, no one ever gets full retention because the people that only watch for one minute kill it. But our our average...
The SnowJobs Podcast: Sure.
Jordan Smith: View length on an episode is 24 minutes.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Okay.
Jordan Smith: so So if you figure... Average episode's 40 minutes.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
Jordan Smith: They're watching 55%, something like that.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That's just the average. so Yeah.
Jordan Smith: That's the average. Yep. That's the average.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Good. Well, if your average is over half, that's a very good sign
Jordan Smith: And then I...
Jordan Smith: For sure. Yeah, no, I'm...
The SnowJobs Podcast: Cool.
Jordan Smith: im i'm happy with the I'm happy with the growth and the traction, and I think we're just going to keep getting better at making the show, too. i mean Last year, we ah we didn't have quite as much footage to work with as we wanted, and we still made it work. Um, This year we...
Jordan Smith: We're going to use our own secret formula to make sure we have just the right footage. Um, because the other secret formula didn't work so well and uh
RICK JAMES: yeah
Jordan Smith: We have our own secret formula now.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Thank God we had all those stupid fucking releases.
Jordan Smith: but
The SnowJobs Podcast: looks Yeah.
RICK JAMES: Yeah. Really paid off.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Oh.
RICK JAMES: Missed a lot of big storms for releases that we didn't need.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah. Oh, thank fucking God. ah
Jordan Smith: You know... I think the other big thing for this year is. that's been really cool to me is in you know. in season one we didn't ask for any sponsors or supporters arctic stepped up and said hey we want to be a part of this which was great Season two, we didn't.
Jordan Smith: we didn't advertise it or shop it we just had people ask if they could be a part of it and we had Ended up with, what, five sponsors for season two?
RICK JAMES: Mm hmm.
Jordan Smith: Um, We've already got a lot more than that looking for season three. And we're not going to just fill this thing chock full of commercials because i don't I don't want to just have it be at half commercials. But one of the things I want to try to do is.
Jordan Smith: ah When we reached out to the the companies that were selected, which happened just this afternoon, we told them not to say anything because the podcast wasn't coming out yet. Um, We... We, uh...
Jordan Smith: Ask them to list. what kind of equipment they use and who their key suppliers are. And. if they have key suppliers that are integral to their success so like Pretty simple ones. Think about Mid -Atlantic and Winterstone.
Jordan Smith: They buy everything at Storks.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Sure.
Jordan Smith: Storks is a great partner for them. Storks is a great partner for snow jobs. They're a huge fan of storm chasing.
RICK JAMES: mm -hmm
Jordan Smith: like Let's get them involved in the episode and get them some promotion as well.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Mm hmm.
Jordan Smith: um So I think it'll be cool to get more suppliers and vendors involved, not from an advertising standpoint, but just from like. you know, how can vendors better support contractors to do the work that they do?
The SnowJobs Podcast: on there
The SnowJobs Podcast: Oh, and they're part of the industry as well.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: Absolutely. Huge part of the industry.
RICK JAMES: Huge.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
RICK JAMES: And Storks is pretty awesome, everybody knows.
Jordan Smith: So excited excited to get them more hands -on and more involved. I think that will... We'll help add even more. a more dynamic nature to the episode showing kind of the ins and outs of the supplier relationships as well.
The SnowJobs Podcast: A hundred percent. Awesome. Love it.
Jordan Smith: That's pretty much what I got, guys.
The SnowJobs Podcast: This is...
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: What else are you thinking?
The SnowJobs Podcast: Uh...
RICK JAMES: That's pretty exciting.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah, it's just it's it's great to see that. people are liking it, people are watching it, you know, that it it it means a lot to guys out there that, you know, companies are excited to. to be selected. They're excited to. to try and get their company featured. And if you weren't featured.
The SnowJobs Podcast: you know There's always next year. You know, we're... ah this thing keeps gu getting bigger and you know, we'll keep going if it keeps getting bigger. So you get, get everybody out there watching it and we'll keep doing it.
Jordan Smith: That.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: that's a good point That's a good point to bring up. Because. Um, I think. Every company that is on this year.
Jordan Smith: also applied last year and didn't get on. So maybe that's...
The SnowJobs Podcast: There you go.
Jordan Smith: Part of the secret formula to get involved as well is is if you want to if you want to be on.
RICK JAMES: There you go.
Jordan Smith: Don't give up after one try.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
RICK JAMES: Right.
The SnowJobs Podcast: That and...
RICK JAMES: Let's start.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Go ahead.
RICK JAMES: Let's not ah forget that. Why we even started the show was to... show our industry what we do and get done and you know show our crews awesome Because we're proud of what we have done and our crews. So that's that's that's what it's all about. That's why we came up with this. whole thing to begin with and i think it's really shown everybody what what we do and bringing more of a light to the our industry, I think so.
RICK JAMES: I'm very proud of that.
Jordan Smith: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: and i I can't wait to see what we what else we're going to do.
Jordan Smith: 100%. I do think it's really cool. That's a great point, Jeremy. that when we go to these events and shows now. Um, Like. like ah like at sima we had uh storm had a a booth where we had storm chasing playing on the thing we had people come up and say oh hey look i'm on the tv i'm on the screen like people wanting to take selfies with the with the screen and And also had people being like, Hey, you're the guy from storm chase.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yep.
Jordan Smith: And like, that's pretty cool that, that, uh, they're kind of like micro celebrities within the in the industry because of the show.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: And. and and that makes them feel good. And that's what the show is all about. Like you said, it's about. showing off all the men and women that that work hard to make this industry go around.
The SnowJobs Podcast: 100%. That's literally the... why we started the pod and that's literally why we all agreed to start storm chasing you know, promote Promote everybody in the industry that that gives so much that. you know the rank and file most people out there don't have no idea They have no idea. So give them an outlet. They're proud of their companies. Give them an outlet to to be able to promote it and bring attention to their people. and
The SnowJobs Podcast: and you know get some recognition that they so richly deserve. So it's it's ah it's a great thing all around.
Jordan Smith: I think the other thing is just ah showing appreciation for everyone that's shared the show. i think One of the reasons it's growing is because people are sharing it. They're talking about it. They're having watch parties. They're telling their friends.
Jordan Smith: sharing it on their social media. I mean, I think the reason we got. four or five times more votes is because people are. are talking about it, promoting it, posting it on their stuff. And again, it's it's not so that we can.
Jordan Smith: do better it's so that the industry can get more recognition and more viewership
The SnowJobs Podcast: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Absolutely. And the watch parties, if you guys are going to have watch parties, if I may. It's awesome. Have watch parties. Make sure everybody's got it on their phone.
The SnowJobs Podcast: sure You can watch it on the big screen, but everybody in that room.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
Jordan Smith: All right.
RICK JAMES: Yeah. Heh.
The SnowJobs Podcast: punch it up, all right pull it up.
Jordan Smith: That's right.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Get the unique looks.
Jordan Smith: Yep, exactly. So looking forward to it should be really fun.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Peace.
Jordan Smith: and And again, right now it's only October, but that means first. First couple episodes are only a couple months away with the new format.
The SnowJobs Podcast: and Absolutely. we could We could be going to Alaska next week.
Jordan Smith: We could.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: ah
Jordan Smith: Yep.
RICK JAMES: Let's go.
Jordan Smith: We definitely could.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Oh shit. Cool. Oh, it's exciting.
RICK JAMES: Yeah.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Definitely exciting. Congratulations to all the companies out there. and And like like Jordan said, and I said, you know. If you didn't get selected this year, there's always next year. And i think I do think every one of these guys on this list was on the list last year.
The SnowJobs Podcast: Then they didn't make it.
Jordan Smith: Yep.
The SnowJobs Podcast: So. just goes to show you keep hammering all right keep pushing and good things will happen
Jordan Smith: That's right.
The SnowJobs Podcast: All right. Anything else, boys?
Jordan Smith: Good.
RICK JAMES: And that's it.
The SnowJobs Podcast: All right. All right, then we'll wrap it. So that'll do it for this ah selection show for storm chasing season three on dustings. As always, thanks to Jordan for joining us. Thanks to Jeremy for being here. And thank you all to all the snow pros out there who voted for season three.
The SnowJobs Podcast: ah Thank you to everybody who's been sharing the show, watching the show. Everybody out there that continues to.
