Mason: Welcome to the Next Guy Up podcast with Zach and Mason. Tinsley is still ah currently watching the Jags game. They still had to delay. I'm just kidding. It's not going on anymore, but he had a little bit of a delay. He was there.

Mason: We had boots on the ground in Jacksonville. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait to get your exclusive coverage until next episode. ah They had the lightning delay, which Tinsley said for some reason it didn't even come close to the city, but they had a storm delay. So he's not here today, but don't you worry. You got Zach and myself.

Mason: Zach, how's it going? How much football have you watched? How's everything been?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Great. We're here holding it down. Tins is taking him the week off. you know, we gave him some PTO. ah We're going to cover for him this week. Watched a lot of college football yesterday, so I'm excited to break it down.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We got some fun stuff, some fun games yesterday. Really fun ah afternoon no of football. There were some big games on last night as well, so um some fun stuff. I'm excited to get to talk about it.

Mason: We talked about how packed the yesterday was, and then also today it was just completely loaded. Tight games to the end had red zone, and it was very just ah packed full of content this whole weekend. So we got a lot to cover.

Mason: ah Zach and I are going to start out with going through some categories that we have just to just to sum up the whole weekend because you know we're not going to be able to get to every

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Mason: uh, game, but we'll, we'll have some categories for sure. And then we'll finish up with best of the rest cat, our new segment.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mm.

Mason: Yes, we had a game. ah

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Right. Fun game.

Mason: Zach and Tins broke it down last week, which we'll get to. But somebody said, you know, this one this one's going to be a shootout. And somebody was right. So it was it was we do want to start before we do the categories.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It was.

Mason: ah We want to update everybody. We did a fun little thing at the end of last episode where we took on AI for betting. And it looks like we are both tied zero to zero.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, you know what?

Mason: ah

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It turns out we may just not be great at betting either.

Mason: But you know who's also...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Hand up to me. My bet lost. um We're going to talk about this team in a second. It's on my list now because I had a had a parlay that they ended up destroying. So, jokes on them though. They lost the game. so well We'll break that game down here in a few.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They're definitely going to show up in a A certain team from Florida is going to show up in a category later.

Mason: We both had a, oh, spoiler. Uh, we both had a three pick parlay, ah AI lost right off the, the bat. They took, I believe the Eagles to cover the spread and the Cowboys covered.

Mason: So, um, and then they ended up losing it and we got only one out of the three legs. Correct. I do believe. So that's fine. On to next week.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Guys, we have plenty weeks.

Mason: Uh, We got plenty of weeks. That's right. and We got 16 more for the NFL. So we got plenty of weeks left. um All right. Let's start out with the categories. Zach, let's kick pick us off here.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yep. Yep. Okay. Our first category we're going to cover is game of the week. um We, we, we launched a new little segment last week where me and we're us three. We're going in, we couldn't name the same game or if the same item or else we would get a point so deducted against us for a punishment.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'm sure we're gonna have that problem this week. Cause Tens is not here to even us out.

Mason: Hmm.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think this might not go Tens's way. Cause he's picking both NFL and college, but yeah, So maybe this is unfair to him now that we think we can reconsider it. um So game of the week is first. I picked the game that I actually watched ah most of because it was it was a very, very fun game throughout.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There were some other fun games on at the time, but it was one that we kind of had circled as could be could be an interesting one. That would be Missouri-Kansas. This is an inter-conference game.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Missouri came in. This was a tight spread, and the game ended up being tight. ah Down the stretch, i think I think the ending where it ended was ah Missouri minus 5.5 was the line. Final score was 42-31, but that that came with um and some garbage time at the end. Missouri pulled away, but it was very, very tight the whole game. It was back and forth.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Both of these teams are pretty fun. Kansas, I like this Kansas team, and honestly, um it was a fun game. Missouri has some issues, but Bo Pribula was very good.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah That Missouri ah offense is pretty fun. Defense is a little bit problematic in my opinion, but their schedule was pretty soft. And so this was a big win for Missouri.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah It was a fun game. I mean, it was it was border war. um We saw Mason, did you watch the guy who had the $25,000 kick? Did you watch that?

Mason: Yeah, he kicked it towards... Well, go ahead. Tell it. Yes, I did see...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, this so a student had a $25,000 kick. Um, and instead of making the kick, he took his shirt off and it said like F you Kansas. And then he turned and kicked it straight into the Kansas side.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So this guy gave up $25,000 potentially to just have an electric moment in a football game. I hope the guys got some rich parents or something, but don't, I would literally never do that for the sake of $25,000, but more power to them.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Very funny.

Mason: Real quick, we had that, and then we also had the lady that was interviewed about the Powerball.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Uh,

Mason: If she would have won, ah she would have paid off...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That was also very funny.

Mason: but Go ahead. Yeah, close to it, yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, she was like, if I win the $2 billion dollar Powerball or whatever it is, is that how much it is? $2 billion?

Mason: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's like a crazy number.

Mason: yeah close to it yeah

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: She's like, I'd use my first $70 million dude to pay out ah the contract for Kalen DeBoer and Fire Em today. ah That was very Only Alabama are people willing to pay $70 million dollars to get a new head coach.

Mason: Got some.

Mason: Crazy.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But it was funny. We also had the... um This is not college football related, but did you see that lady at the Phillies game who stole the ball from the kid and now is getting drugged through the mud online?

Mason: Yes.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Pretty funny.

Mason: Everybody was finding her social media.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Yeah.

Mason: It gets pretty crazy. ah Yeah, she was all over social media.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Probably you just, if you're at a, if you're at a game, just assume everyone's recording and don't do anything stupid because i mean, we're, she's getting drugged.

Mason: Or a Coldplay concert.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. We wanted to, we learned some lessons in the past couple of weeks and the internet is just unstoppable in these situations. And you should, if you're in a public place, you assume someone's watching always.

Mason: Always.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay. Mason game of the week.

Mason: Yeah, real quick, I did want to say Missouri's next five games, they're against three ranked opponents.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay. Sorry.

Mason: Opponents. South Carolina, Alabama, and Auburn.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yep.

Mason: So we'll see what happens there.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Wow, there you go. um

Mason: Yes, my game of the week. It's actually funny.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Do we know?

Mason: Zach said, of all the games that I have to watch, I have the Jets and the Steelers game on, which didn't seem promising at first, but ended up really being actually at close, high-scoring

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: True. True.

Mason: Really fun game to watch. And Rodgers tied Tom Brady with the most games with four touchdowns and zero interceptions with 28 games.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Wow.

Mason: Justin Fields had two Russian touchdowns, ended up going down to the last couple minutes. um Boswell kicked a pretty long field goal, and the Steelers ended up winning the game.

Mason: um do All of a sudden, it's not winning the load, but it was like 30-something to 28.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mason, do you feel like ah Aaron Rodgers is going to go into so on the waiver wires this week? Fantasy?

Mason: third 34 to 32. Sorry, everybody. There it goes.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: How many leagues?

Mason: he might I think someone's going pick up. So in our league, we have a two quarterback. Someone's going to pick him up this week.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Mason: I think couple weeks. And if he continues this run.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: the The problem is he's the chances of him getting hurt are so high.

Mason: He got hit. I was like, oh my gosh, he took some hits. um He had four sacks, but took quite a bit of hits when I was watching that. If that if they don't get that offensive line under control, um he may not make it through the whole season.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That could happen. Yeah. Okay. um Performance of the week. ah These were my players to watch of the week. This is what i the the matchup that I was looking forward to the most.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Bryce Underwood versus John Mateer. John Mateer came out on top for sure. ah This is in the Oklahoma-Michigan game. ah John Mateer, all of a sudden, I think that people in Oklahoma are getting excited.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He looks like a very... composed quarterback he made some big plays he had a touchdown he also had an interception but uh he did what it took to get to get the win he was like 21 for 34 had like 225 passing yards uh just a really solid day um when in comparison with Bryce Underwood for Michigan clearly has some raw talent but um definitely a freshman on a big stage in a really tough environment and John Mater in Oklahoma, they're looking a little frisky right now in the SEC. think that they are going to climb up in the rankings ah now that they've kind of proven themselves against the real defense.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Should be a fun team to watch.

Mason: he's a runner yeah uh let's see he had yeah he had 19 carries for 74 yards and the the two touchdowns so i was like dang he's a he's a runner on top of the passing game so all right my turn

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Coming into Neyland in a few weeks. Yeah. Should be a fun game.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Pretty good.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There you go.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Your turn, performance of the week.

Mason: Okay, I have a reason for this. Zach, what fancy... No one's going to care, really, but it's for the content. What fancy trade did you make ah literally ah ah ah like a day or two ago?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay. Ah!

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, um ah let's talk about it while Tins is not here to defend himself.

Mason: don't know.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um so this just to paint a picture for you, um we are in a fantasy draft. um I had a feeling that a couple of our quote unquote, no, I'm not going to that. He's getting mad at me.

Mason: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I had a feeling that a couple of our people in our league were going to play. So we're in a two quarterback super flex league. He um had a feeling they were going to pass and wait on quarterbacks till very late in the draft.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Tinsley um was not, he made it pretty clear that he really wanted Trevor Lawrence. And think everyone else was just willing to like, let him have them late in the draft.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Every round that went by, I was like, I could pick him up and this would be pretty good move on my part. Cause I know Tins wanted of him. I ended up drafting him, I think in the like 12th round. And i kind of, I sat on him for a couple of days. Me and Tins had some trade negotiations. I ended up trading him.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Shout to Tins who now Trevor Lawrence has his quarterback. Got the win today. and I got some pretty good players out of the deal. So we're all winners here. Ten's got his guy, and I got Amika Ibuka and Javante Williams out of the deal.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So I feel pretty good about that.

Mason: All right, so I could have went several different ways here. Daniel Jones was on my radar. He had a great week. However, he played the Dolphins that we've talked about in the past.

Mason: They're a bad team. Bad defense, bad team.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Mason: Just kind of cruised along. I was like, you know what? That's no fun. So the player i did watch this game, and it's going to be who you mentioned, Ibuka. He had led the team in receiving yards.

Mason: He had two touchdowns. He had the game-winning touchdown catch.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mmm.

Mason: ah and he is my player performance of the week just because I'm excited to see what this player does.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Wow.

Mason: Rookie right off the bat. Sometimes you see him get eased Sometimes you don't see a whole lot of reps. ah Sometimes it's just like a 20-yard game. He like pulled out the win, came in clutch.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Welcome to the team.

Mason: Welcome to the team. Welcome to Zach's team.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Welcome to my fantasy team. Ha ha ha ha.

Mason: So i wanted to go a little bit

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Rookie of the Year?

Mason: Some are saying i wanted to go a little bit different than just picking you know box score. I could have went Aaron Rodgers. You know, had the four touchdown. I could have went Daniel Jones.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Shout out.

Mason: But I went with the player that had the game-winning catch there.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Mason: um Speaking of that game real quick, and we're just kind of throwing out random things, Michael Pennix, That was a tough loss for them, 23-20. He came down at the very end of the game and stretch you need to look the play up.

Mason: he like They were literally saying, how in the world did his knee not touch? He stretched out. They took the lead with the rushing touchdown by Michael Penix.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I

Mason: And then after that, Baker Mayfield marched down ah and had the... game-winning touchdown. So it was with Egbuka, the 25-yard catch.

Mason: So Michael Penix, also um that keep them on the radar because that was a fun game. They just barely barely lost that game. so

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i like that. Okay, next up, surprise of the week. um I'm going with a team that in the beginning of the season we thought was going very bad.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Came out with maybe the second biggest upset of the weekend in college. Mississippi State over Arizona State. and Arizona State coming off of a playoff appearance last year.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Had a lot of preseason expectations. Still do, honestly, in the Big 12. ah for that playoff spot, but Mississippi State at home. Arizona State talks a lot of trash at Mississippi.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Gave them some bulletin board material. Probably not a great idea because the crowd was ready to roll. They were mad. And Mississippi State came out on top in a huge upset.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I will say, storming the field against a Big 12 opponent feels like... um that's That doesn't feel good to me. But you know what?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: if I guess if you need if your program just needed to win, which state which Mississippi State did, yeah maybe we'll allow it.

Mason: what

Mason: Is the storm in the field, the is it at this point, it's not as appreciated because it almost seems like any time, you know, just the like what just happened, ends up they end up storming the field. It's just kind of like a it's not that special or important anymore.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Maybe we should start a segment of should should that field storm have happened.

Mason: Florida State stormed the field.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: In my opinion, I'm okay with Florida State because they came off to two in ten season last year.

Mason: I like it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Huge upset against Alabama. I think that's fine. I think an SEC team hosting a Big 12 team at home feels like not an appropriate time to storm the field. It just seems like, I mean, i don't know.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i know I know Arizona State was ranked high, but that was kind of inflated, I think. I don't think they're as good as their rating was. um Still a good win, though. Shout out Mississippi State.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay, Mason, surprise of the week.

Mason: right. This is definitely going to surprise everybody. Once again, this was on the red zone quite a bit today. And I'm going to say surprise of the week was Spencer Rattler was actually not hot garbage.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mmm.

Mason: It was a one-score game loss, 20-13. And if Johnnie Smith would have just caught the ball and that they literally had the game-tying touchdown, ah twice, actually, the ball got dropped two times in the end zone with Spencer Rattler having the ball at the end. 214 yards.

Mason: He didn't have a turnover. He had one ah only one sack. so I'm going to say everybody was down on the Saints.

Mason: I'm going to say the surprises, even though they got the loss, I'm not thinking that he will lose his job within three games.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Wow.

Mason: He might be able to actually keep his job. think Tinsley might have something to say.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mason's barn stock in the saints.

Mason: I did not say that, but surprise wasn't. And it's funny because people are like, they didn't win the game. But a lot of people, I don't know what the, I forget what the spread was, but a lot of people were expecting this to be more of a blowout. And actually,

Mason: came down to the end. so that were Sorry, they were tied in the second quarter with five minutes left, 10-10.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Pretty good. Okay, last category.

Mason: I mean, it was a close game, so go ahead.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Fun. Shout out Spencer Radler.

Mason: Shut up.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Last category. Most fun. Fraud of the week. um We find a fraud from around the country. team that turns out maybe it's not as good as we thought they were. And for me this week, that's going to be your Florida Gators.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Florida has been hyped up as team with a tough schedule, but a very good team and potentially could sneak into a playoff with a nine and three record, something like that.

Mason: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Their schedule is horrible from here on out.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They took the loss to USF. One of the ugliest offensive performances. I will say I took the over in this game because USF is a pretty high flying offense. I thought just,

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I had some faith in DJ Lagway and the the Florida team that they would put some points up on USF. Guess what? They didn't. This is a very low scoring game.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Lagway looked pretty bad. Honestly, the entire Florida offense looked pretty bad. um Could not score on this USF defense. i mean, this is the same USF defense that shut out Boise State last week. USF could be for real.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think there's a reality where they're now the front runners for the G5 playoff spot. They'll probably be ranked. They should be ranked for sure. They beat two ranked teams in a row, and they're going to play Miami next week.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Talk about a tough schedule. You pull Boise State, Florida, Miami is your first three games of the season. Crazy. ah But...

Mason: Could they pull it off again? Just

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: but would i mean, that would be a legendary run from those guys.

Mason: be electric. Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So what we have is a team now that their schedule is just getting harder. um and they have a loss on... They already have that first loss. I would say their path to the playoff has gotten extraordinarily difficult now ah with what they play. DJ Lagway canceled the Heisman campaign early.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You know, it is what it is. Sorry, Florida. um Couldn't happen to better program, in my opinion.

Mason: Very well said.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: What a great day for America.

Mason: Okay, is it time? This might be the most anticipated.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, what do you Wow. Wow.

Mason: My fraud of the week is Michigan. Yes, I said it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: wow

Mason: when ah i want to start an order of when all this started.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um

Mason: Last week, I said Michigan was frauds. First of all, Zach and Ten's laughed in my face. Then Tens, the editor of the TikTok, by the way, decided to put this on TikTok.

Mason: I got comments. Tell me you don't watch college football without telling me you don't watch college football.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Are

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: are they wrong?

Mason: then New Mexico had 72 transfers, so nothing translates from last year to this year. All I hear is excuses. It's an entire new team and new head coach. That stat from last season means nothing. I got called a clown.

Mason: I got called all sorts of names. Bro clearly didn't watch the game, he said. and they just continued to go on. One of them was also this podcast is the front of the week.

Mason: So just total, like, I don't know what I'm talking about. I want to continue in order.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's a pretty good one.

Mason: So then we had Dave Portnoy say on big noon kickoff that Bryce Underwood is the best freshman quarterback to ever play the game ever.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Hmm. I'm not sure why.

Mason: Then right after that, he posted a video after the first completion saying how beautiful of a pass that was, one of the best passes ever. After that, only eight completions were made by Bryce Underwood.

Mason: Oh, well, this team is so this team's so great, you know. Everybody's going on and on about how great this team is. They must have scored a point in the first half. Oh, wait. No, they didn't.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh, got him.

Mason: So, my fraud of the week is... mid Oh, did they win the game? No, they did not. They lost the game to Oklahoma.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No. Yeah.

Mason: Fraud of the week, Michigan. Big win for me.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Mason: Thank you for the support, Zach. Thank you for the support, Tinsley. No one even... They didn't even point out that I got it right.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I took the bet with you. I took Oklahoma, so great work.

Mason: That is true. But Tinsley said, and I quote, I took it it... I took Michigan plus the point out of spite.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: earth

Mason: Wasn't...

Mason: So,

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh, it was a wild take last week, Mason, but you redeem yourself.

Mason: david

Mason: what was it?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Redeemed.

Mason: like single It was a single-digit loss, right? Michigan's so great. you know All these people giving me excuses and getting so mad at me. No, it wasn't. Oklahoma.

Mason: oklahoma

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Can't wait for that TikTok clip to get out there.

Mason: Oh, yeah. hope I'm sure he'll put something out. We did have some. We had a couple of people that put in Michigan and Michigan lost the game. Laugh your face like a lot. of And there was a couple of people that were.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh, they came after. That's electric.

Mason: Yeah, they did.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: they had it They had the receipts. Uh...

Mason: I will say, ah to just to pull the curtain behind, Tinsley, said i was feeling pretty confident during halftime.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah

Mason: And Tinsley was like, if you're feeling so confident, make a tick-tock. And I said, well, it's pretty risky. And then Michigan comes out right after half, and ah they ran a 72-yard, 75-yard touchdown run.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Really, they're only like good play of the game.

Mason: ah Only, yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It was a run.

Mason: um And so then I was like, it's a good thing I didn't put out that tick-tock. But yeah, there we there we are

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Should have held strong. Okay. ah but We asked Tinsley um for his take on the ground in Jacksonville. He had two statements he wanted us to make on the podcast. The first one is that CJ Stroud still sucks.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah And secondly was the Jags are back. So out to the Jags. Got a big win. ah do you want to do any Cam Ward talk?

Mason: i ah it it's ah it's ah it's up to you um i'm struggling a little here yeah let's do it let's it why not let's do a little quick throw it out there for anybody that didn't watch the game because i understand if you didn't i

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Cam Ward's first game of the Titan? Okay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't.

Mason: i believe that the coaching staff the tennessee titans had as almost as many penalty yards as they did offensive yards To me, that falls boneheaded plays.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Well, a couple of them were kind of questionable.

Mason: there ah Yeah, there's that too. Simmons had that after the whistle that gave him the first down. Things like that. But the the the thing the ah whole part of what I'm trying to get at is it falls back on boneheaded decisions by the players, but also for me, it's discipline for coaching.

Mason: I did not see anything with coaching that set Cam Ward up for success. And with the amount of penalties, I'm going to And yes, Tinsley will probably shoot me a text, like put a text in ah and a group text or something saying i' have no confidence in the coaching staff.

Mason: I just, i I didn't see it. I didn't see anything that kind of got me excited for the future of like, in that last minute, Cam, all the drop passes, it was just, it was, shh.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Calvin Ridley. Yeah.

Mason: They're not setting him up for success is what I'm saying. I think he's got the tools. I think he made some good plays where I'm like, oh, this gives me hope, but I don't know how you felt, Zach, but that's where I'm at.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah um Yeah, I agree.

Mason: that's where i'm at

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He's like a lot of those rookie quarterbacks. Like, I mean, Caleb Williams last year they just didn't look very good. um it doesn't But it doesn't look like he doesn't have the tools, potentially, if he gets on the right team.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I do think this coaching staff is going to be short lived here. i think cam Ward will outlast the coaching staff probably. And so there's always hope. I mean, they played competitively all the way down to the, to the wire. They had a chance at the end. Defense was not bad at all. So I think there's things to be hopeful for as Titans fan.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Even though first game loss is not ideal. And cam boards numbers definitely didn't look very good either. He had like 120 passing yards.

Mason: yeah the Yeah, something like that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's not great. It's not great. Uh, okay. So we're going to wrap up, um, with our best of the rest recap. Uh, this is just a quick little, uh, recap of the game. If you watched it, we had it on. It was a very, very fun game.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Uh, if you missed best of the rest last week, we are going and choosing a game each week from, um, like non power for games.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Uh, so, And we're picking ones that are goingnna we think are going to be competitive. Got some fun storylines. ah We chose last week Oregon State, Fresno State. We had Oregon State team that they both were coming off of. Well, they both had already had a loss this season.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um Oregon State was... Owen one and they're looking at a tough schedule ahead. Oregon state ends up losing this one to Fresno state Fresno state had like a pick six at the very end of the game that turned it around.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Um, And blew that game up a very fun game. Uh, if you missed it Fresno state, I think is another team that is all of a sudden in an interesting spot. They lost to Kansas in the very first week, but they,

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah then they've been pretty competitive since then. So I think Fresno State's come in the gotten in the conversation for that G5 spot. think USF's probably deeply in the driver's seat right now, but they've got a tough game ahead of them, and Fresno State's schedule looks pretty favorable.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So shout out to Fresno State ah for the win.

Mason: Mm-hmm.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We also picked the over in this game. That was our official prediction, and that hit pretty easy. So sometimes you can find some lines that you like in these games that aren't as aren't as publicized. We're going to do the same thing this next week.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah On our weekend preview episode, we will announce our matchup that we're going to be looking at. um think we're going to announce it on TikTok as well once we once we choose it. So we're going to see where the Best of the Rest tour is going to to visit ah next week.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Pretty excited.

Mason: it's almost like our version of college game day. Like we bring that and we, and we get it to ah two teams that, I mean, offense to a lot of podcasts out there, but a lot of them pick the same games or the same talking points.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, Best of the Rest.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yep.

Mason: And it's fun. I was telling, I was telling them off air. I was like, I learned something about two teams I knew nothing about. And then you ended up kind of predicting things or like, right. You were like, thinking it was going to be a shootout, which it was high scoring game, which it was.

Mason: so it was kind of fun. Just say kind of when you did the research and kind of zoned in on it. So excited for the next couple and or the whole season of you guys doing that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yep

Mason: So pumped about that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We're going try and catch some of these teams that have the G5 playoff spot aspirations, I think. That's going to be some fun stuff to watch. so um Mason, you got anything else?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: What do you got?

Mason: Um, think we kind of...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Anything else to review our week in football?

Mason: I think we we covered a lot of... Unfortunately, we're not going to be... i think this is one of the games that's going to be exciting, which I did predict was going to be the game of the week, which is the Bills and the ah Ravens.

Mason: And it looks like right now the game just kind of started, so we won't be breaking that down. Bills are up 7-0 as we speak, but um no, not not too much going on. We'll have the Monday night game tomorrow, so But let's, yeah, let's wrap it up. So we appreciate you all listening to us. We'll have, are we dropping episodes on Thursday, Zach?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's the plan.

Mason: Kind of look at, yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We, we want to drop episodes on Thursday to give everyone an opportunity to get a chance to actually listen to it before, ah the weekend in football. We know if you drop it Friday morning, then it only gives you like one day to get to listen to it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So Thursday gives you a good day to get it in, to get the preview in. Um, And so get some bets put in potentially for us to beat AI this week, which we fully plan to.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Down with the machine.

Mason: Down with the machine.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah Big AI is in trouble. But yes, Thursday is the plan.

Mason: yeah You heard it here first. All right. Well, thank you everybody for listening to this week's episode and we will catch you on Thursday. Have a good night.
