Hello and welcome home. This episode of Welcome Home is brought to you by DVC Rental Store. Thank you for joining us on episode 271 of Welcome Home, a Disney Parks and Vacation Club podcast. I'm Tom here with Trevor and Damon. What's going on? Hey. Hey. Damon's back. Thanks. Yeah. What? I guess I'm back, yeah. I mean, you know it's not like you win anywhere. It's just you were sometimes busy. i'm doing it I feel like if I'm doing a Golden Buttons episode, though, like I don't feel like I actually win anywhere, but I get it. back to this. I didn't realize you did a golden buttons. I don't know. I don't remember. I don't know anything. I'm here today because my daughter decided she had to go to the pool before tennis. Otherwise I would have been a tennis.
00:01:12
Speaker
Oh, okay. ah Well, it worked out and then there's no news. So did it didn't really work out. I don't know. Yeah, there really is. When was this like, Oh dude, like really? Well, okay. I was joking with you guys before we started and I also posted this

Disney News and Listener Engagement

00:01:26
Speaker
on discord. Like I was trying hard to find topics last night, right? Like I was. scouring the internet for what's going on. but you know we Trevor and I talked about this last week. like They're holding a lot of stuff because D23 is in a few weeks. right so like They're not really making announcements or putting much out there. It's and not even food stuff, like not even filler content. They're just putting nothing out there. Thank goodness.
00:01:44
Speaker
Yeah, so I was joking because I went on one of the popular blogs and and the headline was a squirrel almost catches on fire at Disney World. And I think it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. And I'm like, that's really what's news this week. That's where we're at. That's the the content you have to put together to keep to keep the machine going, I guess. Right. But that that's such like not a headline. Right. Because the squirrel caught fire. It's not a headline. Yeah, but yeah, almost is even worse, though, because that that's like, you know, I know but what what quote qualifies as almost so like what does qualify. So but that's a good question, Trevor. What qualifies it? Was it smoking? Was it, you know, was it too close to a magnifying glass? Like, I don't know. Yeah, I did. I didn't actually read the article just because I was like, yeah, I'm not going to talk about this in the show, but now here I am talking about it. So
00:02:36
Speaker
Yes, I guess I'm not talking about it. Yeah, because there's no news. Yeah, because there's no news. There's no news. Okay. All right. Anything else random you guys want to talk about? I mean, anything else at all? I mean, I do, but I mean, do we want to talk about it now? Do we just start with it? How about we do our review of the week and then you can do your- I mean, how do you do a review of the week because someone had probably already left us a review. Didn't she already leave us a review at some point? Yeah, but I still want to recognize her for leaving another one. Mm-hmm. I mean, it's not really a second review. You're just changing the words really. I mean, I guess, right? Yeah. Yeah. So Ashley said- We need more reviews though. Yeah, no, I agree. We've gotten a lot lately, David. We did get a lot. A lot? Yeah. Yeah, fair amount. Like every week we've been reading reviews.
00:03:18
Speaker
Yeah. Gotten a fair amount. Fifty a week or something? or that's you See, this is the definition of a lot. yeah A lot can't be three. That's a couple. A lot based on our average. Okay. More than our average? Based on historical trend, we've gotten a lot. That's true. Yes. Does that work? Does that work? If your historical trend was one a week, right? Yeah. And then we got four a week. Does that constitute a lot or just more? What's the semantics of that? That's a tough question. I don't know. I don't have the answers to that. The along is a strange beast.
00:03:52
Speaker
susan ah So Ashley says, great dynamic, love the show. All the guys are great. I really enjoy hearing all their different opinions at various on various Disney topics. Ashley's a very engaged member of our of our audience, though. So I mean, you know. Yes. We appreciate members shouldn't give us fives. No, no, no, no. i'm I'm not saying that. I was saying I appreciate her for putting that in there. that's you We're acknowledging that she is very engaged and we appreciate her. Very. yeah I met Ashley, so there. Did you really? Yes. we her daughterly When I was in Disney. Oh, okay. I just don't remember that happening. I forgot. All right.

Cruise Plans and Comic-Con Updates

00:04:31
Speaker
Cool. Well, Damon, you want to do whatever your detour thing is that you're talking about? I guess I'm going to be doing a detour next week of my own. Can I do Tom's detours? Is that allowed? or No, absolutely not. Do I have to come up with a new segment name or something? 100%. You are not allowed to use that verbiage. and Okay. Wait, why are you having a detour? I'm going on a cruise in two weeks. Yeah. Well, that's our next episode. Yeah. So next episode will be our last episode for, well, I think we'll just skip one, one episode because I'll be back that Sunday. So this is the RCCL one. Yeah. This is, this is the Royal Caribbean one. Yeah. Okay. So I'll give a little preview of that next week. I'll give my, my. Wait, what ship are you going on?
00:05:11
Speaker
What class? ah Adventure of the series. That's the one that Jeremy was just on. yeah and I don't even want to hear about that. I was having the discussion with my wife because there's that new one, the what's it called, the star or something? ah Yeah, I don't know. It's one that's not out until 2025. OK, yeah. No, so those are classes, right? So you have like the the different classes and then the different names. So the adventure, isn't that the lowest class? It's it's an older one. it's it's It's like a smaller class of yeah boat. It's an older ship. Boat. All the newer ones were really short itineraries and we wanted to do like a week. I think, yeah, I'm worried that like the short itineraries can turn into kind of booze cruisers, which is why we would stay away from them as well. Yeah. Anyway, um so my detour. I'll talk to you next week. Yeah. Let's talk San Diego Comic Con. Like that's going on. So I don't understand why you don't have news. There's tons of news.
00:06:03
Speaker
Avengers five is going to have Dr. Doom. I mean, we could talk about that stuff. I don't like that though. I was planning on talking about it later when we talk about the Deadpool and Wolverine stuff. No, no, we're talking about another because there's there's so much more than just MCU to be honest with you. Okay. But I mean, I don't know how I feel about this. I think it's stupid. Well, I didn't know how I feel about it. I think it's stupid. Why, why is he playing Dr. Doom? I don't care multiverse or not. Like, man, I don't love that. The it the the most, most of the reaction I've seen has been pretty positive to that, but. Yeah, I don't know. I think the multiverse just kind of. It's an easy cop out. Yeah, like. Yeah, but they did that in the comic. They do. It's not like they don't do that in the comic books, though, right? It's like none of the super. More so now, though, like I felt like everyone just tagged into the whole Rick and Morty and it's like. Yeah, you know, I you're right. They do it in the comics, but I guess
00:06:59
Speaker
It feels more forced in the movies because it's a reason for them to use, you know, well, we brought back this actor that, you know, with that character died off, but oh, multivert, like. I don't love it. That doesn't feel. I mean, he's not going back to Iron Man, though. He's not Iron Man. So there's that. No, but what if like so in a multiverse, if he changed into something else, why would it be Dr. Doom? Like, why wouldn't it be like Iron Doom? or Well, no, because I Dr. Man, I don't know. From what I've read, there's there is a comic book storyline where where Iron Man Tony Stark becomes evil um instead of, you know, sure. But why does he become Dr. Doom, though? Well, that's, ah I'm saying that's a storyline. That's what I've heard you fear a story learned from the comic. from the comics So I don't have know. I mean, it does allow them to step

Sci-Fi and Fantasy Show Highlights

00:07:45
Speaker
into Fantastic Four, which they know that, you know, we all know they want to do. And that looks cool. um And then when we have Captain America Brave New World, they're saying it may give us a step towards X-Men. Yeah. All right. But here's the one that I think is interesting. There's going to be a penguin series. I mean, that's not Marvel, obviously, but that's still
00:08:03
Speaker
That got announced a while ago, though, I thought. Yeah, so I guess that there were talking about that. I kind of think I'll watch that even though I'm not a DC fan. like i The Penguin, I think, will be kind of cool. Did you see the drone show they did outside of Comic Con? No, because I'm just talking about drone shows. I mean, it was incredibly cool. It was also record breaking. It was the most amount of drones, I think, ever. That's not a record that I feel like I needed to see, but sure. you didn' you You don't find the drone shows fascinating at all? I don't know. I don't know yet. Yeah, I just I don't feel. I feel watching YouTube videos of a drone show is like it's it's the whole problem of live versus.
00:08:46
Speaker
watching on YouTube is that, you know, it's like, Oh, great. You know, that was, you know, that was a thing on YouTube, but I feel it it's different if you actually are there to to watch it. I don't know. Yeah. I mean, I don't know, but let's, we got tons more news. So let's say we have silo season two. Have you guys seen silo? Phenomenal by the way. It's on Apple. meaning Really? Yeah, no. um i saw What's the, what's this? You saw a fallout though, right? Didn't see Fallout. I skip Fallout. This could be the best television that was on last year, but OK. Silo is a little Falloutish, but without the humor. um Really good season two. But then there's a lot of Star Trek stuff. So you have Section 31, which is the the warlordy person from Discovery and in our own movie, which sounds pretty cool. Starfleet Academy ah lower decks, though.
00:09:41
Speaker
has a new season, so we finally got a premiere date in the teaser. Do you guys watch Lower Decks or not? I'm not much of a Trekkie, so no. I know what it is, though. you Even if you're not a Trekkie, Lower Decks is really funny. Yeah, I've heard it's good. Let's see. Strange New World Season 3, which I want to watch. I just haven't gotten around to it, but I think I'll watch that. Let's see, there's anything else. Oh, well, we did see that. So the Mighty Nein from Critical Role, like we saw the test clips, which I didn't think gave us a lot. But again, I am all for anything that's like D&D based animated series. And by the way, the Dragon Prince season six is out, which I haven't started yet, but it's awesome. But that looks pretty cool. I said it's a whole different set of characters being voiced by you know the Critical Role people.
00:10:28
Speaker
Uh, I don't know about this prime video has dragon show. I'm not worried about that. Let's see. DCU creature commandos. Okay. Maybe mortal combat one ah DLC as video game stuff. Yeah. Legend of Vox Machina first season three. Look, I love that show and the boys gets a prequel. I was not in on the boys. And

Theme Park Rumors and Speculations

00:10:51
Speaker
then like, I was like, Oh, let me watch it. And then like, it's got two ridiculous for me right now. Like I didn't even watch the last two episodes, but I don't know. It's too gross for me. I know everyone said the comic is supposed to be gross. Yeah, it's over the top. It's really over the top. but That's what it was supposed to be. I know. Yeah. The story is not bad, though. No. Let's see. Rings of Power 2 gets a trailer. But I don't know. Rings of Power season one was not my thing. And then we get season two of Percy Jackson, which was pretty good. Pretty good. Yeah. um In this first season.
00:11:24
Speaker
Yeah. So I think that's, I mean, there's going to be news on Sunday that I just didn't cover which, and then there's the, all the exclusives, dude, the gravity fall exclusives are ridiculous. There's all sorts of fun stuff there. I just also got, there's the book of bill. So it just came out from Alex Hirsch, right? And it's like a more adult look at bill and like his whole backstory. Yeah. So I picked that up for Christmas. Interesting. That looks cool. Gravity Falls will never die. I feel like you think they'll ever bring a bad situation. Do I want to reboot? I don't know what I would want. I mean, I think a continuation would be nice because I mean, that entire series took place over one summer, right? So like you can do. but That's kind of the point that I think you know what I would like is that if you actually this is crazy, but if you want to go back there, don't bring Dipper like you bring it all. It shouldn't look around the pines at all. Honestly, you're going to go back there.
00:12:23
Speaker
yeah Yeah, that's what I would say. But again, I don't think we're gonna see that. And it's still so good. Like I said, I mean, this is so good. There's a new amphibian art book coming out too. I don't that was released to me. That was announced a long time ago. I think about Gravity Falls is just that like the universe, like it's actually funny is that like it has the same potential as like a Marvel universe where you could go like 50 million directions with it, but it just hasn't been capitalized on, right? Well, there there is a graphic novel that you can read a little bit, which I read, which was too short for me, but you don't know what I would like to see there. I think if we're going to do something, I think it is without the pines. I hate to say it.
00:13:05
Speaker
I mean, has, has Alex ever said he was going to do anything else with it or he just, he's like, I'm done with it. Cause I know he wanted to, I think I really wanted to move into more adult stuff, but. Yeah. I don't think that they had any plans for that. That's how it was sketched out. And that's how it ends. And the thing is it still got so much holding power. I feel like why, but yeah. Anyway. So that's San Diego comic con on a nutshell. How's that? Yeah, I mean, you also didn't mention too, for the, you know, for the next two Avenger movies, the Russo brothers are coming back to direct those. So, which is... Okay. Yeah, I don't do MCU, so...
00:13:38
Speaker
and' I mean, well, you did. You brought it up. I did. I did. But I don't do it in depth enough that like that I'm more just annoyed by Dr. Doom. Nothing. I'm never going to watch them anyway. So what does it matter? Yeah. What do you care? Yeah. I don't really. Well, they had to, you know, they had to do a big shift because they they were trying to set up, you know, Kang is the next, you know, big bad. And then they couldn't do that anymore. Um, so then they had to shift to Dr. Doom. So now it's Avengers doomsday and then Avengers secret wars and the next two there's and the Yeah, there's some news. There's some new Disney stuff coming up. But again, like you said, they they didn't talk about it. But the Doomies animated series looks really good. I think Primos is out this month.
00:14:14
Speaker
um And then there's Stugo, which also looks good. I think that's coming soon too-ish. Stugo. And then what the Doomies. They're all animated shows. and i know really good but so that you you You're in a different world than us sometimes, David. The Doomies is kind of an interesting concept. So what it is is that like there's a portal to some like demon realm. It's animated, opened in this town. And, you know, the kids kind of have to figure out what's going on and like how to shut it down. Stugo, if I remember correctly, which, oh gosh, I think it's about a super scientist on an island and kids go there because they think they're in either camp or school or something. I think that's it. And then Primos, which is out this month, is about um a family where a bunch of cousins come to live there for like the summer, I think.
00:15:11
Speaker
Yeah. Interesting. Yeah. Doomies though, it looks really good. That's the one that's kind of on my radar for animated stuff. Yeah. Animation style looks familiar on Doomies, but I can't. I believe is, and again, I could be wrong here, but I believe it's a French animation studio. Yeah. I'm just trying to think. It's not Illumination though. It's not the French one that does. Minions and stuff, right? I don't know if so. No, because this is under Disney. So. Oh, yeah. You're just talking about the the style of artwork. Yeah. Yeah. The artwork. Just i I don't know where I've seen it before. It just looks familiar. It makes me it's very familiar to that show that was on Netflix for me, um which I watched for a little bit with the demon. I don't remember the name of that either. that Yeah. Anyway, that was cool.
00:16:00
Speaker
What? Has been hotel. Yeah, maybe. OK, yeah. Yeah, I can see that. All right. Was that your full detour? That's my full detour, I guess. tre ah Trevor, I know Damon doesn't care about drone shows, but if you get a chance and you haven't seen it, you should check out the drone show they did at Comic Con. It's pretty cool. Yeah, I will go watch a YouTube video of it. Someday I'll actually see a drone show live. what As I was telling Tom and Trevor, I don't have points till 2025. December to 25, really 2026 to be honest with you. Yeah, pretty much 2026. Yeah. Is that cause you use your points on the cruise or? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Which actually is kind of fitting. You know what I found out this week? I said my middle son just doesn't like Disney.
00:16:46
Speaker
You just found that out recently. Well, yeah, like I just I was like, hey, so, you know, blah, blah, blah, Disney. And he's like, I don't care. I don't like Disney. It's like, OK, all right. then The whole time that you've been taking them and he just see that's what and I don't know. I didn't delve into it. It's just like a teenage thing. Like I hate. I mean, right you know, in kids kids taste change. You know, my my son is going through his own phases to where he's not into things that he was into even a year ago. And it's hard, right? Because you you you kind of assume that like your kids like certain things. And when they all of a sudden turn around, they're like, yeah, I don't like this anymore. You're like, yeah okay, like, I guess I'll, you know, return the Christmas gifts I bought for you. or We're in line with that. But yeah, I was just saying, like, no one was really all that broken up that we don't have points till, you know, December of twenty five. Because I don't think we've had any announcements. even I mean, we're going to have you listen.
00:17:38
Speaker
Even when we have announcements at D23, right? Nothing's going to be built by 2025. There's no way. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the, the, the only thing you'll probably have is new test track, but it's the same, you know, it's the same ride. it's just getting oh when obviously When's that opening? I think that's supposed to be 25, right? Ooh, maybe I'll be able to ride that. I don't think they've actually said, but I mean, I think they, what I've heard is it's more than a year. uh, you know, makeovers. So yeah. So that's, like I said, there's nothing really just like.
00:18:11
Speaker
So that would be good. I keep seeing the universal stuff, but still no date. So I think we're think we're just going to be out on it. like and We're just going to be out next year, which is crazy because I really want to go when it opened. And now it's going to be like, if it opens in October, I can't go. like It opens anytime after August. But the thing is, is like you're not letting me plan. So like if even if it does open in July of 25, I'm still stuck because I can't plan for it yet. And I'm going to make other plans. because Again, we're a cruise family, which the kids hate when I say that now. It's like, what does that even mean? I'm just I don't know. I mean, you're just doing cruises now, is that? Yeah. So we're looking for, like I said, next year we'll definitely do a royal. And I just don't know how long or where or what or when. And then we still have our Disney 10% off, which I don't know when we'll use that. So ah speaking of universal,
00:19:03
Speaker
um I did see a bit of interesting information that, again, I don't know if this is true or not, but ah so I guess we'll we'll put it under rumor, is that for the opening, yeah, for Epic Universe is opening, they're going to put stipulations on it that you have to buy a minimum three day park ticket. But you can only go one day at epic universe so so third-party ticket vendors, let's make sure that we clear out only for third Okay, i miss that's what it said is so if you buy directly from them. It's it's what we don't know We don't know what happens if you buy directly from the all we know is that the announcement was third-party vendors So but the that that's a very interesting thing though because it does the it's a weird way of doing
00:19:46
Speaker
It's an interesting way of doing it yeah control yeah but the other thing too is that that same person said that you know cuz Harry Potter the first you know week or whatever was a madhouse and it was not I think Harry Potter became a madhouse like couple weeks in, a week or two in, we were there for the opening of Harry Potter, the first one, right the first Harry Potter land. It wasn't that busy because I don't think people knew about it. I didn't even plan my trip for it. I just was like, oh wow, there's new Harry Potter. i Was it like pre-internet or like pre pre-news on the internet? I don't know the answer. but I don't think so. It wasn't that long ago, was it?
00:20:24
Speaker
than the first Harry Potter park? I mean, think it was a fair chunk of that. yeah the I think the the instant hype train was not as prominent yeah as it is now. um I kind of like that for ticket aspect, especially if if they're going to keep it as just a third party thing. I think it's great. So if you're staying on, then you have no limitations if you buy tickets directly from Universal. But if you don't, you're limited. I love that. I think that's a great way to handle it. And I think they can do it because it's a park. You know, Disney can't really necessarily do that with a ride. They could do it with a section. But I mean, I love that. It's a great idea to to limit it that way. is that Yeah. Yeah.
00:21:04
Speaker
Yeah, that that would be weird if Disney did that where it's like, well, you can only ride this ride once on your yeah trip. It's like, no, I don't think

DVC Rental Benefits and Resort Changes

00:21:11
Speaker
so. I mean, I would love that too, to be honest with you. If Disney put like, hey, there's a new ride out. We see what your trip booking is for. You can ride once, buy once. I'm cool with that. I would love that. Ride once, buy once per trip. You don't want to write something again. You just youre one you can write once by once. You could write it twice, but you're buying the second time and you can write it once. yeah i um I would love that. i I found on my last trip, i was I was doing way too many attempts to get on Guardians, which I mean i guess yeah if if they limited me, then I would have you know just written it and that would have been it.
00:21:47
Speaker
but Yeah, I, I, I guess I can see where there is the benefit to that because yeah, people like me who want to get on the ride six, seven times, uh, we don't want any of your kind here. Yeah. Okay. Sure. a Trevor. I don't think we should be limited. it all yeah You don't like us nice Canadian folk coming in dirtying up your park, do you? I mean, seven times is just gratuitous at that point though. I feel like, okay. It was more like five. It wasn't seven. Okay. i'm nice to throw that um Yeah. By the way, so Wizarding World was... ah That's the first one, right? It was 2010. 2010. Yeah. Yeah. So that that's before... That was the before times for... The before times. Yeah. Well, what was the first first iPhone was like what? two thousand It was 2009?
00:22:38
Speaker
Yeah, but but that's what I'm saying. But you couldn't. There wasn't like blogs galore. No, that's sure. Yeah. Universal. Yeah, things weren't advertised the way they are now where it was like instantaneous. Like yeah I'm telling you, I showed up and we were like, wait, what? What is this new place? What is this new place? Like we had no idea. It's the same thing when we were like went down for like the Star Wars weekend, right? And like we had no idea and it was like so cool. It was like one of the earlier ones and it was so neat but I had no idea we were there for that. So yeah, I think there's a lot of things that weren't kind of
00:23:13
Speaker
you know out there as You know what, though, like that is also partly to because if you watch like when Disney World opened, like the first two weeks were like dead and like they were prepared for like tens of thousands of people. And it's because people decided not to go because they thought it was going to be mobbed. Like so like after a couple of weeks, it got super busy. But like those first couple of weeks, people avoided it. So, you know, I'm sure those that kind of stuff happens, too, because I'm the type of person that I probably avoid it. I would I'd probably stay away. Well, and it's funny because I want to go on this new cruise and I just was like, I was telling the kids like, Oh, it would be kind of cool if we went on this new cruise ship. I just don't know if I can do a new cruise ship. Like I feel too Titanic ish if I do like, I just don't know. So like it's called star of the seas. It looks, it's a monstrosity. Um, and I'm like, this would be really cool. But I'm like, uh,
00:24:09
Speaker
I saw one of the new world Caribbean, I read read an article about this. One of the new world Caribbean ships has like a space 220 esque dining area where it's like they're mimicking that you're on a train car, right? And you're like, yeah. And you're eating and there's like screens at the windows and you're sitting at the windows and there's, I heard it was just, okay, that's the newest ship. Um, I yeah you got to pay extra for that too. Uh, think so. Yeah. And that's the thing I'm curious about is what you have to pay extra for and whatnot. But I will tell you the one thing I'm looking forward to is an actual basketball court that doesn't have net so low that you can't actually shoot jump shots ah like Disney. Like I just don't understand that. Like, dude, can I like have a real basketball court, please?
00:24:51

Yeah, you sorry, i'm I'm still stuck on the Titanic comment you made. and I just I just want to say that that I could see I could see Damon pushing Mickey off the door. The thing is, you're you're in the Caribbean, so like I just I feel like for me. I feel like I could swim to an island. So I don't like I just wouldn't want to go through that. I just I don't know. I think I would be more worried about like a fire jumping off or something. Oh, yeah. but Yeah. I mean, you're in the Caribbean if you're not, you know, in cold water, I feel like maybe you're getting sharked, but you have a stand like stand a good chance.
00:25:26
Speaker
Wasn't there that guy recently that was intoxicated and fell out off a cruise ship and like survived like doggy paddling for like 40 hours? Oh, I don't know. Yeah, that was the thing. That was a news story of a couple of years ago. Yeah, I mean, so I think you could make it. I mean, do you stay in one place or do you just you try to swim to an island if you're in the Caribbean? I mean, I guess it depends. yeah Yeah. What if you know nothing? What if you're just like, well, what do I do? I think I'm trying to swim it, man. Yeah. If you have zero visual reference, I guess you just have to pick a direction and hope that you don't just get dragged around by the current. Well, yeah. Because what if you start going the wrong way, David? You're just going out into open ocean. I know. That's the thing. It's the same problem as getting lost in the woods is that you think you're moving a direction and you get lost and like people end up dying in the woods because they go in circles. You could have the same thing happen in the water.
00:26:16
Speaker
that's true true yeah that's true i don't know this new star of the seas though looks crazy crazy yeah i just i just thought it was uh it was interesting that they had that that whole thing it's like you're on a cruise ship why do you want to then go on a train i don't know that just seems weird to me but i look kind of cool though it did look kind of cool i i agree with you damon because i i my first thought was that's stupid and then i looked at it i was like okay that's i mean kind of neat you know it's different I will say be being on a train virtually would be better than being on an actual train. Apparently it does like vibrate and stuff, so it'll be around. I will say this actually. be So i had I had a friend who took, ah there there's a a train that goes through the Rocky Mountains near. That'd be awesome. But the problem was they actually got stuck because um they there was something with changing tracks and all that kind of stuff. And they actually spent like,
00:27:10
Speaker
72 hours on this train. And and the problem is is that like there there was like if they wanted to get off, it was like, well, you got to walk like 10 miles to the next stop kind of thing. like it's it's Yeah, I don't know that I like the idea of, I mean, I don't like being on a boat necessarily either, but I feel like, like you said, you know, you can get off a boat and, you know, swim or, you know, get on a dinghy and whatnot. Being stuck on a train in the mountains is... I feel that's worse, like but that's also, I guess, because I'm aware of all the bad things that can happen in mountains. Yeah, because you're there, right? so yeah I'm not worried about that with the boat situation, but um yeah. so It's funny, Damon, because you were supposed to be on the ship that I'm going on, right? Because you were supposed to be on that same. Yeah, I was.
00:28:02
Speaker
Yeah, so that's the he was on the same ship that I'm going to be on and say my tenor and everything. So it's that's kind of. So we don't really need to hear from you is what you're saying. Obviously not, apparently. Yeah. Well, and the other thing was, too, he did the he did the whole monkey excursion. I did that one time not on a cruise when I went to Punta Cana. It's the same. It's the same one. It's kind of fun. Just looking for dates. And it looks like dude, like 2025 is already like sold out for a lot of things. I'm kind of annoyed already for the for cruises. Yeah, especially for the star of the seas like and I won't go when you know, this is to me is too late because I'm getting into like hurricane vision. And the the thing is to like, I just realized this is kind of dawned on me recently. You know, I didn't realize that like, my daughter started tennis last week for high school.
00:28:51
Speaker
We're can't go we can go away from like June 18th to like July 15th for the next four years. That's a very small window. That's it. Yeah. I mean, that's it. Like we're kind of stuck. So that stinks. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm not necessarily sure what we'll be doing. Well, that's why my wife and I are we're taking a trip with just the two of us and leaving my son at home because I can't do that. I just can't do it, man. Well, I mean, my, my parents are nearby. So, you know, he's not kind of, he's not with that. I just couldn't, I don't know. I just couldn't leave my kids out of a vacation until they're older. I feel like that's just me though. I mean, my parents did that to me when I was in high school, they were taking trips and I was staying home. So yeah, I just wouldn't do that personally. That's just me though. So, I mean, my parents, uh, you know, generally cruises, my parents have been on without me.
00:29:45
Speaker
were in high school or F? ah Yeah, I'm pretty sure they did some in high school too. Yeah. high school I mean, now obviously they do it all the time without me. I don't even get an invite. I would hope so. I mean, it'd be nice to get an invite. Hey, you want to come on a cruise with us? Sure. Yeah. We'll come on a cruise. They know how to cruise, by but they they got all the status and everything, you know? I can just hear it. Like, you know, do we really want to ask Tom? We kind of had too much of Tom already this year. Like, yeah, I kind of get it. Let's just, we won't tell him about this cruise. All right. we We'll tell him about the next one. That's okay. well so i think i was I don't know if I was telling Trevor this or or whatever, but my parents are going on a transatlantic cruise next year. right and It turns out they're leaving the exact same day that I leave for my Disney cruise from the same port. so like Literally, we're both going to be going to the port the same day. They're going to be getting on one ship, we're going to be getting on another.
00:30:36
Speaker
It just was like of all the dates, how that randomly happens. Um, yeah but yeah, so like they're, they're doing a transatlantic one, which I think would be cool to do. Uh, you know, I think it's probably the only way you would get me, uh, I'm not flying over the ocean. That's, you know, that's, I'm just not going to do that. I don't like flying in general. So yeah, that's something that we were talking about doing as well. So like our goal is the first retirement trip we're making, we're transatlantic over to Europe, right? And then hang out long enough that we can take a transatlantic back. Yeah, that's the way. Yeah. That's the way to do it because they're flying back. They're flying back. Yeah. I want to do that. I want to do both ways. Yeah. It makes sense. Makes sense. but Anyway. Wow. Okay. That was quite the the detour. I was a detour. Yeah, that was a detour. Uh, you know what? We have some listener questions. do We to want to do listener questions. Yeah. Let's, let's do those.
00:31:25
Speaker
So fill up or Phil, I don't i don't know. philip up ah Maybe a stupid one, but let's say I park our car car in Hollywood Studios and hop on an after-hours event at Magic Kingdom that lasts well past the Hollywood Studios close. Do you think I can still catch a park bus and work my way back to Hollywood Studios for my car via Disney Springs, I think is what's going forward with DS? Or do I need to Uber or use the minivan? I know transportation run ah services run an hour after park close, but do they run to every park based on the closing time of the last one? I don't know. It's a good question. I mean, i think yeah I would not bank on any transportation being available because especially if you're like if it's well after Hollywood Studios closes, they'll they'll have no reason to run a bus over there. yeah and I mean, you might get lucky with you know if you talk to a ah bus driver, they may get somebody to come and drop you off there. i've i've seen like I've seen them go out of their way for for stuff like that.
00:32:22
Speaker
but I mean, i would I would kind of bank on getting an Uber or something if you're doing an after hours party. i would i don't you Well, why are you parking in Hollywood studios in the first place? Why don't you just disney so when i want to just do like Disney transportation the whole way? like i would i would know yeah I mean, they they may have plans in the morning and, in you know, not want to drive their car over to Magic Kingdom in the afternoon. I can I can see that, but I just mean, I would like why risk it. Yeah, I i i agree. i I would actually just take my car over to Magic Kingdom if I was.
00:32:57
Speaker
doing that too. I agree. That's what I would do too. yeah i because i would I would drive over that because I've done this before, ah but it was EPCOT. so Where we went to EPCOT for the night and as soon as the fireworks ended, we hopped on the Skyliner, but Hollywood Studios was already closed and the the Skyliner was about to close and we were very concerned we were not going to be able to get to my car. So it was ah it was very stressful just trying to get get there. But um we we did, and it was fine. But um i would you know I don't know about you, but I would i would hate to like chance it even. you know And then what do you do after that? You just leave your car there and then come back the next day somehow? Yeah. I mean, that's an option too. I guess it's i don't know if it's worth the risk. so
00:33:42
Speaker
Alright, so Dan says, what what would you think if Disney were to add solar panels of other parking spaces? Have you seen what I'm talking about with these parking lots? I think it's a much better better to use solar panels this way rather than the solar fields. So interesting, Dan. i I've seen this a bunch. I feel like they had at Legoland actually, when I went to Legoland, the premium parking was under solar panels, right? so they had like the So your car was in shade, but it was also solar panels. I'm actually kind of surprised Disney hasn't done this yet um because you know they could they could add a lot of solar panels and and continue charging extra for that. And that could be and a good way to push people to buy the premium parking, right? you know If your car is sitting in the shade all day, that i mean that makes it a little more attractive.
00:34:27
Speaker
I think it's probably just the upfront cost to build those structures initially is probably the biggest deterrent. True. Because because you're right. Yeah. you know Once it's there, you know Disney can run it like anything else. And yeah, obviously that you know solar panels puts... you know or I mean, they're they're already they've already got big solar farms as it is. So it it makes sense, but yeah, I think the bigger problem is the initial, you know who pays for the the cost of building those structures up front, right? yeah Yeah. I mean, i Disney's done partnerships before like with the ah with the you know power companies to do that. like i think I mean, I think they could do it, but
00:35:09
Speaker
you know i They already have those huge solar fields, like you said. I mean, mean and listen, Disney's got the extra space, so they they don't really care where the where the solar solar panels are um and you know theyre you know they they are. They say already that they can they power two entire parks with their two solar installations. so um you know they could I guess they could add incrementally to that by making i mean solar shelters. you know Yeah. If you think about across all the parking lots, like that is that is a lot of potential real estate to put down solar panels on.
00:35:39
Speaker
yeah but yeah and On a hot day, I might consider paying for premium parking so that I could you know go go in the shade. you know yeah Totally. I mean yeah who i like i think yeah sha shade and power are both at a premium. and so um yeah i I could definitely see this being a thing. or yeah If enough people make noise about it, you know I think Disney will consider it. but Yeah, like I said, I think the the biggest the biggest thing for why they're not doing it is, and obviously Disney, they're putting lots of money into the parks, but you know something like this, you know it's it it's going to end up costing you know millions of dollars for to do it at the scale that they want to do it at.
00:36:22
Speaker
right so yeah so you know I guess the the only question is, is who's was paying for it? Exactly. so No, these are good questions. They're interesting, so yeah especially on a no news week. All right, let's go ahead and do our ad. All right, so the sponsor of this episode is DVC Rental Store. The DVC Rental Store, a world of DVC company, offers magical vacations at incredible value, save up to 60% off retail rates at premium Disney resorts. DVC Rental Store now includes deposits as low as 25% at the time of booking and a built-in cancellation policy for every reservation. That's 1-855-DVC-RENT. And when you speak to them, be sure to let them know that welcome home sent you. All right. So back up to, uh, some DVC news, just like minor news, you know, but I do think it's an interesting conversation. Uh, and so starting on August 4th, uh, there's a specific pool at Alana. I feel like I will butcher that name. If I try to say it, if you want to try, Trevor, Walana, Walana, Walana, Walana. well wallana yeah I think Walana is probably the closest pronunciation.
00:37:39
Speaker
So previously this was an adults-only pool and then ah COVID happened and then um it opened to everybody, but now they're going to reverse course and make an adults-only pool again, ah which is interesting because really there's no other DVC resort that has an adult-only pool. I mean, I don't know if there's any other one. um You know, but obviously, you know, like things like Disney Cruise Line, they do they do separate ones. But um yeah, I guess I guess the question I was I had was, do you want more adults only pools? Like, is that something that they should do at more of the resorts? I mean,
00:38:18
Speaker
ah and so so the the hard part is like, obviously, the yeah, the the the selfish part is Yeah, you know, it would be nice to have a place that was adult only and like, I guess, I feel like there there is a, there's a good and a bad side to adult only pools because, you know, obviously added at an adult only pool, um, they're serving alcohol and all that kind of stuff. And, and the strange thing is, is that I feel like it actually does invite itself more to people misbehaving.
00:38:57
Speaker
versus the family-oriented pools where, where you know, Disney can be like, I mean, Disney and just people in general are more quick to get on people who are being rude or, you know, drinking too much at the pool, stuff like that. So I don't know. i did i I don't know that Disney needs more or needs more than one adult pool, because it's not like it's not like there's any other ones. Yeah, like I i mean, ah in my head, it's like, yeah, it sounds nice on paper. And that's not to say like, you know, I don't mind kids being at the pool, but you know, it it would be nice to have like a space where you can go and it's like quiet and and all that. But like I said, I feel like it just invites itself problems that, you know, you don't see at a at a family pool, right? Yeah, I could see that.
00:39:50
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, I'm not saying, I'm not advocating for like putting in a swim up bar or anything, you know, although that'd be kind of nice. Uh, again, yeah. It would be nice until, yeah, until it's a problem. That's why we can't have nice things, right? It's, you know, always gets ruined by somebody. So yeah, no, I just thought that was an interesting conversation. I didn't realize actually, cause I mean, obviously I don't look at a Lonnie all that often. I didn't realize they actually have an adult only pool, which is, is kind of an interesting choice, but I guess it kind of makes sense because of where it's situated that, you know, there's really not anything else around it. Yeah. I can see we're having that adult only it's like, you know, like there there's bars and stuff in, in other resorts.
00:40:37
Speaker
I can see where they, yeah, you know it gives for DVC members, you know maybe that that's an incentive for some people is that you you know you have a you have a ah space that is closed off that is just adults. Well, and maybe, you know, I don't know what the composition of Alani guesses, but maybe there are more just childless couples that go there, right? Like, you know, where where it's it makes sense to have that separate pool because there's the the clientele is is more ah people without kids. So, you know, I don't know if that's true or not. I'm just just guessing. Hawaii's expensive. you know ah Fair guess. Yeah.
00:41:18
Speaker
All right, so Trevor, the one last thing we have on here, and I put this on here because I've been i've been seeing videos of this pop up and it seems like they've done a really amazing job with this. um It was funny, I was texting with my brother-in-law who's you know a huge comic book fan, Marvel fan, right? and um He's like, I'm not going to lie, if I was a kid and I i saw Deadpool and Wolverine were making an appearance at at Disney Park, I would beg my parents to go.

Marvel Appearances in Disney Parks

00:41:44
Speaker
I get it. When I was a kid, I i mean, i I was really into X-Men and like, yeah, i i would have been I would have been really excited about that too. I'm excited about it now as an adult, but as a kid, even more so, especially with Wolverine and his yellow and blue outfit too. Yeah, the the like comic book output outfit. Yeah.
00:41:59
Speaker
Which he is in the Deadpool and Wolverine movie, right? So, yeah um you know, obviously that's that's been a big thing of putting him back in that. but yeah did she see ah Did you see the recent quote ah from, ah from ah what's his name, the guy the head of ah Marvel Studios that all the X-Men movies, they had all of them dressed in black leather instead of their regular suits because of the Matrix movies were popular at the time and they thought that they could capitalize on that? Is that why they did that? That's what he said. That's funny. Yeah. I just thought that was kind of a hilarious reason. It's like, Oh, well, the matrix really is a big deal and everyone's wearing black leather and that. So let's put them all in black leather. and I don't know if you've seen any of the, uh, the X-Men 97, uh, still haven't watched it. I really want to, I've heard it. Yeah. So, so they actually did a callback to that on the show where oh really because there, there was the scene in, uh, in the X-Men movie where, um,
00:42:57
Speaker
where Wolverine comments on on the suits, and then Cyclops says something about, what would you rather be in yellow spandex? And then in X-Men 97, I think it's Cable says something about the outfit that he's given for the X-Men, and Cyclops says, well, what would you want black leather? or but So like they did the the reverse on it, which that's very funny is very funny. that yeah I find that funny, but also that yeah they figured that it this would have Like, yeah, I didn't realize that was the reasoning behind it was the Matrix, but that's yeah, i'm I'm glad that they're back to the more comic book look on Deadpool and Wolverine for sure.
00:43:39
Speaker
And have you or I don't know if you've seen any videos of it, but yeah the fact that they done the the fact that they're doing like story time with Deadpool is just it's really it's so amazing. Like it it it feels good. Like this is the kind of stuff they should be doing yeah versus like it feels like they've really missed the mark on a lot of things. And on Deadpool of all things, it feels like this is how they should be marketing these movies. Yeah, i well, and I was I mean, I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit surprised by it, because I mean, I'm not surprised they did a rated R movie with these two, right? Because and and a lot of people were like, Oh, now that now that Disney has, ah you know, all Marvel, they're gonna do like, you know, watered down stuff, you know, instead of doing rated R stuff. And I was like, I don't think that's true. Disney's been making rated R movies for a long time. They just not under the Disney banner. right like it's they'll They'll do it. It's fine. right so like I didn't think they were going to tone it down, and and obviously they they didn't for this. i I have not seen the movie yet, but I'm going to see it this week.
00:44:39
Speaker
um but I'm impressed that they're also having the characters in the park. right because you know First of all, a lot of kids are not i mean I don't know how many kids are going to see Deadpool movies. ah It's such a weird thing because like even when I was a kid like you know it but I guess you know comics weren't as mainstream as they are now and so like I was aware of Deadpool as a kid and if I saw like you know if I saw anything Deadpool was like oh that like cool but I think it was also because I knew that it wasn't like it wasn't the the
00:45:16
Speaker
the like Superman comics, right? like I think that was part of the the attraction for it, is you know kids kids do want to see some of that more not kid-friendly stuff, and Deadpool's kind of a weird branch. or like or it's It's a weird bridge that yeah Yeah, you know, having it in the parks, it's, you know, it's acceptable, even though the movie is not acceptable. Well, to you know, to go back to what you're talking about with the videos, I the storytime one is funny because he puts on like a little old lady, you know, like, um like, chap bro what do you call a sweater? And and like yeah yeah, and then the and the tiny glasses with the chain on it and everything. And that's really funny. But I also saw a video of him coming in on ah on a unicorn on wheels. I don't know if you saw that one.
00:46:03
Speaker
No, I didn't. yeah He's riding a unicorn and and going through the park like that. um there's also you know him just like do like I've seen him like popping into like that the normal dance-off thing they do for for Guardians. um It just seems like they've embraced the character a lot without taking out with well taking out the dirty parts. you know They've just kind of made it made him fun and and and silly, and then, of course, just making Wolverine cranky and, you know, hating everything that Deadpool's doing, right? So, like, and that's that's just cool that they've done that. I mean, it's again, I'll go back to my brother-in-law because he was he couldn't see the movie until Saturday and he's very spoiler averse. And so he's like, I'm literally staying off the Internet until I can see it.
00:46:45
Speaker
And I was like, well, once you get back on the internet, you need to watch the videos from Avengers campus. Cause they're really funny. they're They're doing some really, really funny stuff. It's Avengers campus, by the way, at Disneyland and also at Paris too, they're doing it. So, um, not just, not just here, they're doing it. There's another Paris too. So, but no Florida because we can't, we can't have it. Well, it's sad. Well, I guess, yeah, cause of Wolverine, but they could do Deadpool. Can they do Deadpool? I don't know. I thought I thought that the it was only around X-Men. No, it's it's after like a certain time period. Nobody knows the actual rules of that. But like, I think it was only the characters before a certain time period that they can use. But I don't know how old Deadpool is. So but then I'd be included in that. Then Guardians is like. His Guardians has been around a while, like before it became a big thing it in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
00:47:42
Speaker
Like it existed in in Marvel Comics before that. So yeah, I wonder, you're right. I wonder what the exact rule was around it because it seems like, you know, you know Disney has sidestepped some of that, but yeah, I guess, or yeah, I feel like it's probably more so to do with Wolverine because Wolverine is tied or was tied to X-Men and all that. That's probably the biggest reason why they're not doing anything in Florida. with it. sit so great this yeah According this universal controls, the theme park license to the characters they're currently using. so Any character or villain considered part of the Avengers X-Men, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, or Spider-Man? Oh, okay. Spider-Man. I don't know why I said Man. Spider-Man. They have all of that. so i mean if I guess if if Deadpool ever popped up in ah you know the X-Men, then he can't use it. Which, yeah, he did. He did, yeah. tito yeah
00:48:40
Speaker
Yeah so yeah and and like you said because of Wolverine too they can't they can't do it so which is it's just disappointing right like because they're doing this fun stuff at Disneyland which is great but I wish they could do it at world two and I mean it's not Disney's fault it's a bad deal that Marvel made back in the day but you know and it's in perpetuity so until Disney cannot you know i I do believe eventually they're somehow going to try to buy Universal out of this. I don't know if Universal will ever give it up, but it's probably too valuable at this point, right? I mean, I don't know. I feel i feel like Universal, they will hit a point where they'll just let it go. but
00:49:18
Speaker
probably not until after Epic Universe and everything is well up and running. It is funny though to think about like how many Disney properties are in Universal Parks. Cause like they also own the Simpsons too at this point. So like, and that's, that's a big part of Universal. That is, that is true. That is weird how the the park's still like, they've got a weird shield around them that stops Disney from, yeah you know, coming at them. Yeah, so even though Disney owns the property, it's in Universal. They're competing against their own properties. That's weird. And you know the hard part about that is it makes it even more confusing for people that aren't necessarily paying attention to this stuff because yeah you know you get the people that show up at Disney looking for Harry Potter land. Exactly. den But then on the flip side, it's like, well, but all this Disney stuff is over here. Why don't you just swap it? and it's like
00:50:11
Speaker
Exactly. it's it's It's confusing for sure. but that's you know i do think I do think they will try at some point. i really If they haven't already. i mean you know and i actually I mentioned this in the Discord. i mean Disney's not against making deals with other companies like that. i mean They just made a bundle deal now with HBO Max and with Hulu um and and Disney Plus that I signed up for because I had all three of those services separately and it was pretty expensive.

Streaming Services Bundle Deal

00:50:39
Speaker
ah to have all three of those and now it still costs you know a good amount. It's like 30 bucks, but it's less than what I was paying for all three of the services separately. Of course, eventually Hulu is just going to be Disney Plus anyway. and you know Trevor, you don't even know what I'm talking about because you don't have Hulu. No, it's included in my Disney Plus, so I don't even have to think about it. Exactly. Listen, i like I said, i think it's I think it's possible someday. It could happen. like you know Maybe
00:51:09
Speaker
universal maybe ah NBC you know Universal wants something really badly from Disney, some sort of property really badly, and then they make some sort of trade like they did ah back in the day with Oswald. right they did They traded Oswald for... Oh gosh, who was it? it's it's it It was a sportscaster. I forget who it was. Was it Al Michaels? Might have been. um Yeah, you don't know about that? I didn't realize that's how that went down. Yeah, it's it's a really weird thing. They like literally like traded. um is I have to look it up because I don't want to give out incorrect information, but they traded a real person for an animated. yeah sure Yes. Yes. So NBC Universal traded Oswald for Al Michaels. Yeah. So they they basically Al Michaels went to NBC for football and then Disney got the rights to Oswald back.
00:52:00
Speaker
So like, I mean, listen, maybe it can happen again someday, you know, ah maybe maybe they, you know, Universal ends up wanting something really badly. And I mean, I don't know what, but you know, it'd be funny is it like Disney somehow like bought out all of Harry Potter, but it just like bought the property of Harry Potter. Don't, don't do that. i can do that That would actually I feel that would be actually the worst case scenario if that happened. what What do you mean? If Disney had Harry Potter because it would. They're not. They've got too much as it is. Yeah, they do have too much ideas. it is Yeah, like it would just it would become a mess. But yeah anyway, back back to this Deadpool stuff. So looking at the merch that they're they're offering up for this,
00:52:51
Speaker
The other part about, you know, not having it in Florida means that I will not find these shirts in Florida. Yeah. Because is I kind of want that dog pool shirt. Dog pool? Where's that one? Did you see? Oh, there it is. There it is. Yeah. Yeah. like should like yeah Right. like Like that's I wish that there I keep saying that as you know, you know, there's the typical like Disney stuff, but I want the, you know, I want the weirder stuff. And I mean, obviously it's Deadpool, which, you know, it's Deadpool. But then, like, I didn't think they would go and make a dog pool shirt. And here they are. Of course, Disney's selling it. It really embraced it, man. They really have. But I can't get it in Florida, probably. Actually, may I might be wrong. It's a Disney store. It's a Disney store, though. you Well, OK, but I don't want to pay, you know, twice the cost of the shirt in shipping because that's what they do to me because I'm an international customer.
00:53:45
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, so yeah, like I have to go to Disneyland if I want the shirt, which I'm not, I don't like that. Right? Like you, you see the problem here, right? I do. So the thing I would want to buy is this, is this hat that they have with the Deadpool logo on it with the, with the Wolverine slash through it. That looks cool to me. I like that. I would buy that. You wouldn't get the best Bubs hat. No, I like this one better. I like, see, I'm a simpler is better type of person. Like, you know, I like, like, I don't like wearing, like sometimes people buy me like a shirt from like a TV show and it says like, you know, from the TV show. And I'm like, no, I want to wear a shirt that you have to figure out. You know what I mean? Like I don't want to, yeah.
00:54:27
Speaker
But the best Bubs one is it's funny because the whole dynamic is that you know Wolverine doesn't want to have anything to do with it, really. Yes, of course. So yeah, this it's very one sided. I have to tell you, this is kind of making me want to go back and watch some of the old X-Men movies. I say some of them because there are legitimately a couple of bad ones like that I don't know if I really want to watch. But I mean, there were some really good ones. Um, you know, that I would, you know, definitely like to check out again. So and it is cool to see Wolverine show up in the MCU, you know, I want to hear you list a bad one just so that we can get some comments about it. What was that? What was that last one? Yeah, no, I don't want to do that. Cause you know, there's, there's always a fan of everyone, right? Of every single one. Um, although that one that they rushed out, I think was that bombed really hard fairly recently. What was that one? x Oh, was it the, uh, not first-class, um,
00:55:21
Speaker
Yeah. It's, it's with that group though, right? It's yeah but yeah it a dark Phoenix, dark Phoenix. Yeah. That one bombed hard, and but and they knew it was bad and they just, they, they pushed that one out. Um, yeah, that one's did not do well. Um, actually, you know what? It made 252 million at the box office. The budget was 200 million, but after marketing and everything, it's probably still okay. so So I appreciate the stats, but I was asking like, do you like that movie? I didn't see that one. No, I didn't see that one. I remember not liking. Well, which one was it? Days of Future Past, maybe. I think that was one. Really? No, no, not that. You didn't like Days of Future Past? No, I like that one. No, no, I like that one. I take it back. OK. I think it's maybe The Last Stand. I don't remember all these movies. It's been a while since I watched them. I think it was Last Stand I didn't like. OK. That was the third one in the first set. Yeah, like X2 is great. Like X2 is a good movie. That's a great sequel, right?
00:56:19
Speaker
All right. Okay. Last. st Yeah, I can see. Yeah. It wasn't a great movie. That's fair. Okay. Yeah. So, and I mean, the original but X-Men is pretty good too. So that that one and X two, I think I saw X two with the theaters in 2003. It's kind of, ah I mean, it's kind of amazing now that like Wolverine is basically the the longest running person, you know, like he's been doing Wolverine longer, I think, than anybody else in the MCU now at this point. Yeah. I mean, right. Yeah, yeah yeah he Hugh Jackman definitely you know hit the jackpot with that role for sure.
00:56:50
Speaker
But, uh, but the hard part is, is that, uh, you know, I mean, he's said it himself, you know, you know, he thought he was done with Wolverine until, until he's getting old too. I mean, you know, that's a lot of work. Yeah. The problem is what Wolverine doesn't age, but you know, Hugh Jackman aging, unfortunately. Jackman does. I actually never saw Logan and I heard it was great. I really need to watch that. I it was, it it was, it was definitely, uh, um, far more gritty than, uh, than the other mainline X-Men movies. That one is on Disney Plus too. Oh well, Disney Plus or Hulu. I noticed that it is on there, so I might have to do that. But yeah, I actually like this merch. I think there's some cool things here. so Yeah, so yeah. Hopefully for anyone who can get to you know Disneyland or you know if you're in Disney Paris, ah but I mean, it would be cool if we actually got somebody to post pictures from Disney Paris. but That would be cool actually. yeah
00:57:45
Speaker
Yeah. You know, you know, check this stuff out. It's, uh, I mean, you know, Wolverine or Deadpool and Wolverine is a lot of hype around. We wouldn't see it in the just discord too. You know, I've, I've seen, I've seen on multiple people, like you need to see it. And it's like, okay. Yeah. Are you going to go Trevor? I know you haven't done movies and you were kind of out on Marvel for a little bit, but are you going to see this? Yeah. So, so the, the hard thing is, is like going to the theater is still, ah It has to be I have to really be convinced to go to the theater because ah like the cost is is an issue to like especially yeah up here it like I know
00:58:22
Speaker
I know it's expensive for you guys too, but they love charging us even more because you know even though we're Canadian, they they figure they they can double the price on everything. um Well, I understand. i My wife and I went and saw a movie the other day and it was, I mean, we saw it Inside Out too and it was, I mean, a hundred bucks, but by the time you know I bought seats and popcorn and candy and drink and all that. you know So like I kind of want to see it, but I guess that the the thing is, is that I know my wife doesn't really want to see it and my son is not super interested in it. So it would be like, uh, I might have to convince my brother or my friends to go and see it, but I think i my role and I'm going to go see it by myself.
00:59:04
Speaker
no Yeah, i I guess that's true. I guess I could try going to a movie by myself. I've never done that before. Oh, man, I used to do it all the time. I love it. Maybe that's just me, but I used to i i used to love going to movies by myself. um Yeah, no, it's I randomly am off work this Wednesday of for a variety of reasons, but I, you know, everyone's going to be out of the house and I'm like, the thing I need to do is only going to take a couple hours. So I'm like, well, maybe I can sneak in a a movie, right? Maybe I can go see Dead Full of Wolverine. Uh, cause you know, cause my wife's not going to want to go see it. And, and I mean, maybe she will. I don't think so. I don't think she cares about either Wolverine or Deadpool. So I'm sure she'd be fine if I go see it. Um, but yeah, I, I just, I usually, I mean, this would be kind of a record for me over the past like six or seven years of seeing ah two movies within two weeks of each other. That would be, that's crazy. I never, see yeah i I haven't done that since I was in my twenties. Like.
01:00:00
Speaker
Yeah. but i really wanted to do like twenty years ago What I really want to do is go see Twisters and in one of those 40X movie theaters. I don't know if you have this up there, Trevor, but yeah it's basically a Disney ride. I've been seeing videos of the Twisters movie and and the 40X theaters, and it just looks like it's insane. Yeah, like my my wife is not. No, she would not do that. Yeah, she she does. She would not do well with that. But yeah, her her friend wanted to go and see it in 40X and she was like, I can't do that because they're so I my wife wants so funny enough is yeah, you know, my wife wants to go see that. I don't really want to see it. So she's going with her friend and it's like, yeah, sorry. Twister was a good movie, but I just don't like i'm I wasn't that into it, I guess is the Yeah, my wife really wants to see it too, but she really loved Twister. I watched Twister a lot when I was a kid. I feel like it was on all the time. She would just pop it on, but like I don't know. I'm just not really interested. yeah like what What new stuff are you doing with tornadoes? I don't know.
01:01:05
Speaker
They spin the other way. but fits for the um i mean yeah my My wife and I have a running joke and forever. is like you know if If something you know is is just got to us, we always go, it's already here. you know like for the twist yeah like It's coming, it's already here. We do that all the time. It's like a weird running joke with my wife and I. but um Yeah, no, i would I would go check it out. i just you know like If I have limited time to see movies and limited opportunities, like Twisters is not at the top of my list. you know yeah like I'd rather go see the new Alien movie or you know see a Marvel movie. right like I'll definitely go check out the new Alien movie because that looks cool too. um Another random Disney property now. Did you see that see the trailer for that?
01:01:57
Speaker
No, I haven't actually. Yeah, it looks kind of cool. um i'm i'm okay with I'm okay with them continuing to make those movies if they're decent, you know? Yeah. But anyway. We've got way off topic, yeah. Let's wrap it up. Let's wrap it up, and we'll end early this week. And next week, so just to give everybody an idea of what's happening in the next couple of weeks, and truthfully, there's a lot of people on a vacation right now. So I've seen a lot of people saying, oh, I'm catching up on shows because I've been away, which is fine. But next couple of weeks, we're going to have a show next week, the week after we will not have a show.
01:02:29
Speaker
We might do a wait list or something like that. I don't know. Or maybe Damon will do a golden button detour. Who knows? We'll try to put some content out. And then the week after, we'll be back. I'll be on a cruise, so I won't be able to do it. But I'll come back with a you know whole report about my cruise and how it went. and Well, I know it's not Disney related, but, you know, like I said, we'll have to come up with a name for my, ah you know, non Disney segment like Damon. So if if it's Damon's detours, it's Tom's tours. Well, I like it. I like it because because it's DD for the detours, but then TT for I like it. Tom's tour.

Engagement and Support Opportunities

01:03:06
Speaker
Yeah, we got to do the alliteration. That's that's key. yeah That's key. Yeah. So yeah, Damon gets the detours. You get the tours.
01:03:12
Speaker
All right. I like it. I'll take it. There you go. I was just going to do Tom's travels, you know, but still that's, that's not as fun. Yeah. um um I think tours works better because it's, it's not a detour. It's a tour. Yeah. Yeah. I like it. I like it. All right. Let's wrap this thing up. All right.
