Speaker: Alright, how's it going everyone?
Speaker: Welcome to the Geekity Greek Podcast.
Speaker: My name's Verantis along with my fellow co-host here.
Speaker: Ramsey's the Damned.
Speaker: I'm keeping that one, I like it.
Speaker: Oh come on, you can't go from Ramsey the Great to Ramsey the D. You know that.
Speaker: Okay, how about Ramsey's the Great Damned?
Speaker: How about reverse those two?
Speaker: The Damned Great.
Speaker: I like that one too.
Speaker: So... But anyway, so how's everything going this week?
Speaker: Any fun, exciting week?
Speaker: Anything new come up?
Speaker: Oh no, no.
Speaker: This has been a blessedly calm week.
Speaker: Little Ramses are back at school.
Speaker: I've been trying to get some of the kerfuffle done.
Speaker: And then...
Speaker: You know, get a chance to read.
Speaker: It's slow progress, but, you know, just keep it moving.
Speaker: I know that feeling.
Speaker: Sometimes I only get through 30 minutes of a book a day.
Speaker: It's so sad.
Speaker: You read.
Speaker: Oh, come on.
Speaker: 30 audiobooks.
Speaker: Come on now, man.
Speaker: You know better than that.
Speaker: 30 minutes of audiobooks?
Speaker: Actually, it's about what I'm going to say.
Speaker: It's like a chapter.
Speaker: Sometimes I just end up forgetting about it or end up getting distracted with YouTube videos or music or anything else.
Speaker: Yeah, YouTube is my enemy.
Speaker: Yeah, it really, really is.
Speaker: It's like I'll be sitting there watching YouTube videos and then I have to start driving.
Speaker: Instead of listening to my book, I just keep the YouTube video playing in the background now.
Speaker: It's like, hmm, I should go back to listening to books only while driving.
Speaker: It's not like I can see anything that's happening while the freaking YouTube video is going on when I'm driving.
Speaker: Yeah, but sometimes it's good to listen to them.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: The people that I listen to, it's like they're more relaxing tone of voice.
Speaker: They're not exciting or anything like that.
Speaker: They're not even really informational or anything like that.
Speaker: It's just kind of like a relaxed vibe.
Speaker: Like gamers and stuff like that.
Speaker: You've been listening to Mr. Beast?
Speaker: No, God, no.
Speaker: God, no.
Speaker: That is not a relaxed vibe.
Speaker: That dude is like 110% at all times and cringe the other 90%.
Speaker: Count Dankula.
Speaker: That's who you listen to.
Speaker: I knew it.
Speaker: I don't even know who that is.
Speaker: No?
Speaker: Never once heard of them.
Speaker: He was a comedian for a little while before he got ran off YouTube.
Speaker: I did listen to an audiobook recently.
Speaker: I listened to part of it, rather.
Speaker: I didn't get to finish it.
Speaker: You don't finish audiobooks.
Speaker: We know this.
Speaker: You don't finish listening or watching anything.
Speaker: We know this.
Speaker: I'm still working on Highlander for the fifth week in a row.
Speaker: You finished a chapter yet?
Speaker: Oh no, I'm just watching it.
Speaker: But I did listen to Godzilla.
Speaker: Godzilla?
Speaker: Yeah, I don't remember if it was book one or two.
Speaker: But yeah, it was an interesting read.
Speaker: Is it like a Godzilla book?
Speaker: I honestly didn't even know Godzilla had books.
Speaker: Godzilla has books?
Speaker: It's on our Audible.
Speaker: Is it a book?
Speaker: Well, the Alien books I know about, I do plan on listening to those, but like I said, I keep on every single time I finish one of the Sword of Truth books, I either have a new credit to spend on the next Sword of Truth book, or I have something else I'm listening to already.
Speaker: But is it like a Godzilla book that's based on the movie?
Speaker: There's a whole bunch of Godzilla books.
Speaker: Holy crap.
Speaker: It's a novelization of the movie.
Speaker: Yeah, that makes sense.
Speaker: But they do have even ones of the old movies, too.
Speaker: On the old ones?
Speaker: I mean, I'm looking on... I'm not talking about audiobooks.
Speaker: I'm just talking about books in general.
Speaker: Like, there's 100% like Godzilla, King of the Monsters written in... Losers don't say.
Speaker: Released it was 2002.
Speaker: Actually, this is a DVD.
Speaker: I literally typed in book.
Speaker: Good work, Google.
Speaker: You just screwed that one up.
Speaker: For real, though.
Speaker: Bad, Google.
Speaker: Bad.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, there are definitely... There's graphic novels.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, yeah.
Speaker: Godzilla Dominion, the official prequel graphic novel to Godzilla vs. Kong.
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: I don't need it.
Speaker: You know what?
Speaker: No, no, no.
Speaker: I'm going to close this out.
Speaker: I don't even know.
Speaker: There's also Godzilla comic books that were...
Speaker: that were not associated with the new movies.
Speaker: Well, those I know about, I actually had like, I'm pretty sure I had like, it was like, I don't know if they gave it out of the movie theater or what, but I'm pretty sure I had a Godzilla comic book at one point.
Speaker: Oh yeah.
Speaker: Well, I know I had one with, this would have been 20, 25 years ago, obviously, but.
Speaker: So the Matthew Broderick one.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, I did have that one.
Speaker: Um, but then there was also, there was a,
Speaker: wild period there where they tried to make everything into a comic book.
Speaker: If geeks were interested in it, it became like Robocop versus Terminator.
Speaker: Alien versus Predator.
Speaker: Yeah, but that was back when being a nerd wasn't so much mainstream.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Being a quote, nerd, unquote.
Speaker: You had to actually worry about wedgies and, you know, the locker and whatnot.
Speaker: When we were afraid to say, I play D&D,
Speaker: when we were also proud to say I was gonna say it's like afraid when you mean what are you talking about it's like you're proud of it it's like I was proud but I was also worried about it I wasn't homeschooled I got beat up a couple times you know just saying to be fair I was only I was only homeschooled five years thank you very much yeah only five years that's like half your childhood there yeah never gotten into a fight or anything like that yeah
Speaker: but yeah i i miss those days i'm not gonna lie everything was so much cheaper being homeschooled i miss those days too no i'm saying the days when it wasn't mainstream to be a nerd and i could buy stuff for cheap like when collectible stuff wasn't collectible but it was collectible you know something didn't cost 500 it cost 50 bucks
Speaker: That is exactly true, and I do miss that.
Speaker: I also miss the freedoms that we used to have, you know, watching Buffy, you know, watching Hercules.
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: Kevin Sorbo as Hercules was the greatest thing that happened when I was a kid, you know, aside from Conan with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Speaker: Corny.
Speaker: Corny and great.
Speaker: I loved it.
Speaker: That's the thing is because it was made for nerds, not made for people who want an adrenaline rush.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: They want to see action movies.
Speaker: They don't want action shows.
Speaker: They want action.
Speaker: They don't want corny.
Speaker: And it's like, well, I mean, I guess technically a lot of like the Avengers stuff was corny, but it's not good corny.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Like they try too hard because they're like trying to be funny.
Speaker: There's a difference between corny and funny.
Speaker: You know?
Speaker: I thought they did rather well for the first couple of phases.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: No, I'm just saying it's not the same type of corny, though.
Speaker: They're funny, but they're not corny.
Speaker: Like, corny Hercules, corny Monty Python and the Holy Grail corny.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: You have corny, and then you have funny.
Speaker: Avengers is funny.
Speaker: Yeah, I have to agree.
Speaker: And it was also...
Speaker: It's interesting because you go back and you look at those old stuff and you're like, oh my god, the graphics suck.
Speaker: But somehow... Say again?
Speaker: I said, we don't go back and watch it for that, though.
Speaker: No, that's true.
Speaker: But what I was going to say was, somehow, the graphics sucked.
Speaker: You had claymation skeletons that Kevin was fighting.
Speaker: And you had...
Speaker: you know, Xeno running around throwing things that would come back to her, you know, I guess boomerang would be the word there, you know, just, just off the top of my head, it's a boomerang, you know, but, um, the, they look better than they do now.
Speaker: Sometimes, you know, Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park looked a hell of a lot better than Jurassic world.
Speaker: Sorry.
Speaker: I'm going to break that.
Speaker: It's practical effects.
Speaker: Like,
Speaker: When you actually create something, it's a physical manifestation.
Speaker: It is a literal creation that you can touch, you can feel, you can make it look real.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: I mean, look at Indy in the Ark.
Speaker: Hmm?
Speaker: Look at Indy in the Ark of the Covenant.
Speaker: You have the guy's face melting off.
Speaker: Oh my god, that was so...
Speaker: awesome.
Speaker: It didn't look realistic.
Speaker: It looked goofy as shit.
Speaker: I mean, yeah, that was not real.
Speaker: That was definitely just layers of wax that they just put a heat gun to.
Speaker: Yeah, they blew a hair dryer.
Speaker: They blew a hair dryer on it and melted the wax all over.
Speaker: But it still looked great, and it was geeky, and it was loved, and it was just a smorgasbord of
Speaker: Pure love, you know?
Speaker: To be honest, if they made that now and they actually had, like, I feel like that would just be too grotesque.
Speaker: I think so.
Speaker: Yeah, like, in reality, like, a movie like that, if it was made now, it would be much darker.
Speaker: Well, see, the really, you know, really bad thing is you can't say that because...
Speaker: Back then, that's what they had.
Speaker: Actually, no.
Speaker: I was about to say this.
Speaker: Back then, their special effects teams could do magic.
Speaker: I've seen some horror movies that had stuff from that time period that were 200 times better.
Speaker: But yeah, like you said, it looked grotesque and graphic.
Speaker: This did not look so graphic.
Speaker: It looked goofy, and it was supposed to.
Speaker: Whereas now, what they would do is they...
Speaker: they first off wouldn't know how to make anything goofy second off they would use cg so yeah like you said it would start to get a little more grotesque there but you know if they could just stick to um the physical they could actually do some good work with it and come you know the problem is i don't even think we have the materials and stuff now to actually be able to make that stuff look a thousand times better but we don't animated wise i'm
Speaker: Yeah, we do.
Speaker: No, we don't.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: No, no, no, no.
Speaker: We have the talent.
Speaker: The talent's not in Hollywood, though.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Then I might concede.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: The talent still exists.
Speaker: There's people who do claymation, stop animation, and stuff like that.
Speaker: They're extremely talented.
Speaker: I follow them on Instagram and stuff like that.
Speaker: They do stop motion animation with just little clay figures or something like that, or little figurines and stuff like that.
Speaker: They do an amazing job.
Speaker: But they are not in Hollywood.
Speaker: That's a key point.
Speaker: That's the key point.
Speaker: They're not in Hollywood because now Hollywood only wants people who can make action movies pretty much.
Speaker: Yeah, I saw that in Endgame.
Speaker: You know, they're all running through the field.
Speaker: They are already running on treadmills.
Speaker: And then everything around them was CG.
Speaker: It's like rather than actually running through a field.
Speaker: It's like.
Speaker: Why is Lord of the Rings one of the movies that, you know, stands the test of time where no matter what you watch Lord of the Rings and it's still one of the most thrilling theatrical productions ever created because everything was basically there.
Speaker: I'm about to destroy your childhood.
Speaker: What?
Speaker: They're remaking the Lord of the Rings.
Speaker: Yeah, I already know.
Speaker: And I'm not going to pay any attention to it.
Speaker: Actually, I don't know.
Speaker: I actually didn't know they're remaking the Lord of the Rings.
Speaker: That being said, I'm not going to pay any attention to it because they don't need to.
Speaker: Oh, come on.
Speaker: We need to diversify it.
Speaker: Oh, I don't care about any of that.
Speaker: It's an amazing movie, plain and simple.
Speaker: Nobody could ever convince me otherwise.
Speaker: I mean, yeah, Frodo.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, okay.
Speaker: I heard that.
Speaker: I'm like, oh, that's it.
Speaker: I'm not watching that.
Speaker: The new Superman doesn't have everything now.
Speaker: They remake everything now.
Speaker: Now, I saw this on Twitter.
Speaker: I just don't pay attention to it anymore, though.
Speaker: You're right.
Speaker: I quit watching movies.
Speaker: Yeah, there's no point.
Speaker: There's very rarely when it's like, oh, they're remaking a movie.
Speaker: It's like, I want to go see this.
Speaker: No, it's, oh, cool.
Speaker: They're remaking a movie.
Speaker: I will say, though, I did just go see the Mario movie.
Speaker: 200 times the best movie I've seen.
Speaker: Oh yeah.
Speaker: And guess what?
Speaker: It's not a remake.
Speaker: No, it's not.
Speaker: It's an original movie.
Speaker: I loved it.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So tell me everything you thought about it because I am actually still interested to go see it.
Speaker: So the first thing that came to my mind when I started it was, oh my God, they made Mario a putz.
Speaker: They made Peach, basically Brie Larson.
Speaker: And this movie's going to suck.
Speaker: That was the first thought that came to my mind with the beginning of the movie.
Speaker: But when I started watching it, they actually show him not being a putt so much as he doesn't know how to stand up for himself.
Speaker: And he also doesn't know a damn thing about this world.
Speaker: Because he goes from basically Donk City, although it's Brooklyn.
Speaker: Brooklyn.
Speaker: He goes from Donk City to Toadland, Toadstoolland or whatever it's called.
Speaker: And.
Speaker: He has to learn how to be super Mario.
Speaker: And once he starts getting it down, it's like, oh, this is pretty good.
Speaker: And, you know, along the way, he stumbles quite a bit.
Speaker: You know, he fights with Donkey Kong.
Speaker: He, you know, does quite a bit of, you know, goofy stuff.
Speaker: But it's fun.
Speaker: They actually made Mario have character development.
Speaker: Yeah, they made Mario have a character development.
Speaker: And there are a butt time of Easter eggs.
Speaker: Is he a plumber?
Speaker: Yeah, he's a plumber.
Speaker: He and Luigi are plumbers.
Speaker: Is Luigi a big part of it?
Speaker: Luigi is basically the Princess Peach of the movie.
Speaker: He's the one that's been caught.
Speaker: Wait, Princess, wait.
Speaker: Wait.
Speaker: they made a Mario movie where Peach is not the cap.
Speaker: Peach is not the.
Speaker: Huh?
Speaker: For the most now, for the most part of the movie, she's with Mario.
Speaker: She's fighting alongside Mario and all that.
Speaker: But yeah, I actually heard all that.
Speaker: So I do think there is a part where, you know, she he has to rescue her from Bowser.
Speaker: Okay, good.
Speaker: There has to be at least one of them.
Speaker: Like, that has to be in there.
Speaker: Like, at least once.
Speaker: Like, even if it's just like a minute-long segment, it's like, that is the Mario and Peach thing.
Speaker: Peach gets captured by Bowser.
Speaker: Mario rescues her.
Speaker: It probably is like a minute-long tale.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I mean, as long as it's there.
Speaker: But I thought it was rather good.
Speaker: Like I said, there are a ton of Easter eggs.
Speaker: I really wanted to see some of the Easter eggs kind of flesh out.
Speaker: because there's some things that I thought they could have grown a little more.
Speaker: Like with Luigi, they could have actually brought in some of his story and it would have been a little bit more interesting, but they tried to keep them the brothers.
Speaker: So, you know, it's like they're trying to do that.
Speaker: But at the same point, you could have easily started the Haunted Mansion or something like that in there.
Speaker: I know that is true.
Speaker: They had,
Speaker: Like I said, they had references to almost all the games.
Speaker: I didn't see anything with Sunshine.
Speaker: The next big movie universe, Mario.
Speaker: I can actually see that being a thing.
Speaker: No, the next big one will be Zelda.
Speaker: It'll be the Nintendo universe.
Speaker: The Nintendo universe.
Speaker: That is, I mean, honestly, I mean...
Speaker: Well, we have Sonic, Sonic 2, and now they're bringing out Knuckles.
Speaker: Sonic isn't Nintendo.
Speaker: Sonic is Sega.
Speaker: No, I know.
Speaker: But Sega's brought out Sonic and Sonic 2, and now they're bringing out the retro universe.
Speaker: How about that?
Speaker: Well, what I was going to say is they're doing their universe, so it's time for Nintendo to step up and do their universe.
Speaker: That is true.
Speaker: I want a Zelda movie.
Speaker: Give me a damn Zelda movie.
Speaker: There's been so many people that have been wanting a Zelda movie.
Speaker: The problem is there's certain actors and actresses where it's like they fit the role perfectly, but it's like they're getting too old now.
Speaker: Well, see, they don't even care because I like Chris Pratt.
Speaker: I love Chris Pratt.
Speaker: I think he's great.
Speaker: And I don't really have too much an objection to him in this movie.
Speaker: I don't like Seth Rogen.
Speaker: I don't like Seth Rogen.
Speaker: In even him, I was kind of like, okay, not too bad.
Speaker: Seth Rogen was in the movie.
Speaker: Seth Rogen's in it.
Speaker: He's Donkey Kong.
Speaker: Seriously?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Jack Black is Bowser.
Speaker: Jack Black does a good job.
Speaker: I know Jack Black's Bowser.
Speaker: And I mean, pretty much anything I see Jack Black in, I'll love it.
Speaker: I'm hit or miss with Jack Black, but I thought he did really good with this one.
Speaker: I haven't really seen a single thing with Jack Black that I did not like.
Speaker: Now granted, a lot of it was when I was younger.
Speaker: but typically almost anything Jack Black is in, I like.
Speaker: I think it was called Orange County.
Speaker: Start with that one and you'll see.
Speaker: But... Orange County, of course, is after a county in Florida.
Speaker: Well, there's a county in Florida, but there's also... I think it was Orange County.
Speaker: I can't remember.
Speaker: Well, that's why I'm saying, of course, a bad movie would be the name of a county in Florida.
Speaker: Actually, I think this was from California.
Speaker: The one...
Speaker: thing that I really didn't like about Chris Pratt's voice was I thought this was the perfect time to put Charles Metinay in there and it would have been 200 times better with Charles Metinay.
Speaker: Martinay?
Speaker: I don't know how it's pronounced.
Speaker: You're talking about the original voice actor for Mario?
Speaker: Yeah, the original voice actor for Mario.
Speaker: He's still doing Mario.
Speaker: He should have been the one that did it.
Speaker: But...
Speaker: That only took off like half a star for me because this movie was that damn good.
Speaker: And Charles Day.
Speaker: Charlie Day blew Luigi out of the water.
Speaker: Screw Lou Gizamo or whatever his name is.
Speaker: Some hack that nobody's even paid attention to in 20 years.
Speaker: Screw him.
Speaker: Charlie Day was Luigi and he did it phenomenally.
Speaker: I don't even remember who Charlie Day is.
Speaker: If you've ever seen Sonny in Philadelphia.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: He's a little crazy dude.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: A little crazy dude.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Great.
Speaker: Love that dude.
Speaker: I love it.
Speaker: Oh, he's a hundred percent.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I was going to say it's like, honestly, he probably could have done the voice voice for both Mario and Luigi and we loved it.
Speaker: You're probably right there, but he did Luigi because he just fit perfectly.
Speaker: And like I said, Jack Black did do
Speaker: Excellent with the movie.
Speaker: Doesn't Jack Black sing in it?
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Jack Black sings in it.
Speaker: Is it actually good?
Speaker: I know that it's supposed to be hit top 100 charts today.
Speaker: Are you kidding me?
Speaker: No.
Speaker: No, Jack Black, I'm pretty sure that song is called Peaches or something like that?
Speaker: Peaches, yeah.
Speaker: It's a good song.
Speaker: It's a good song.
Speaker: you know, he does a good thing.
Speaker: I couldn't, it, it wasn't that good to be honest with you to be in the top 100, but that's not said it's, you know, maybe top 1000, but not honestly the top 100.
Speaker: Um, it was a good song though.
Speaker: And it was, it's been streamed over 5.8 million times already.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Don't do it till you see the movie because it'll ruin it.
Speaker: Yeah, no, I'm not going to.
Speaker: That's the thing.
Speaker: That's why I just asked if it was good.
Speaker: But yeah, so apparently it officially hit whatever Billboard's Hot 100 chart is.
Speaker: Really?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Wow.
Speaker: Now, I will say if you do go see it, there is a mid-credits.
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: Sorry.
Speaker: There is a mid credit scene.
Speaker: Sorry, I'm still on the Jack Black thing.
Speaker: It is number six in digital song sales right now.
Speaker: Really?
Speaker: For the week.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Wow.
Speaker: It's good, but I didn't think it was that good.
Speaker: And it also broke into the top 100s for iTunes as well.
Speaker: Maybe I'll go ahead and buy it for Lil' Romeo or Lil' Ramsey.
Speaker: It's now eligible for an Oscar nomination with Universal for best original song.
Speaker: So there you go.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Nice.
Speaker: So there's a mid-credit scene, though?
Speaker: Like, is it actually worth it?
Speaker: It's more Jack Black, but it's not too bad.
Speaker: Well, is there a reason for it?
Speaker: No.
Speaker: Or is it just there for fun?
Speaker: Okay, so, I mean, I enjoy the ones that are there for fun, if I'm being completely honest.
Speaker: I don't like being teased.
Speaker: So... I like them, and it's not like it's... I don't think it was too long.
Speaker: I think it was only about, you know,
Speaker: Maybe usually they're only like 10 seconds.
Speaker: No, I mean to get to it, you know, sometimes it takes like half of the thing and you're like, Oh my God, this felt like it was only a couple minutes into it.
Speaker: And then it kept going after that.
Speaker: I'll be honest with you.
Speaker: I didn't stay after the set, after the mid credit.
Speaker: I was like, I don't really care at this point.
Speaker: So there might be a end credit and I didn't see it.
Speaker: Usually, lately, a lot of the movies have been trying to get rid of post-credits, and they've been doing mid-credits, where it's like, you know, after the animated credits scroll, they'll usually throw the scene in.
Speaker: And that's what it was.
Speaker: Yeah, that was really good.
Speaker: But unless they followed, you know, the Marvel Universe, where they have a mid-credit and a post-credit, that's always fun.
Speaker: And the post-credit needs to be an experiment.
Speaker: There are two.
Speaker: There's...
Speaker: one scene during the mid credits and one after the final credit role.
Speaker: Oh, really?
Speaker: Apparently.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: So I don't know which one you saw, but one of them apparently potentially sets up for a second movie.
Speaker: Then I didn't see that one.
Speaker: Basically the second one is still, you know, Jack Black being goofy.
Speaker: So, okay.
Speaker: So I guess they have an actual post credit scene that could potentially set up for a second movie.
Speaker: I'm going to be honest with you.
Speaker: That's going to be a day one buy for us.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: Ramsey's Jr. absolutely worshipped it.
Speaker: I worshipped it.
Speaker: Now it's time for Mrs. Ramsey's to see it and we're going to love it.
Speaker: The only other movie, like I said, I've been trying to watch Highlander for the third time in two months.
Speaker: I have made it a little bit further.
Speaker: I'm about three quarters of the way.
Speaker: You're talking about the TV series or the movie?
Speaker: The movie.
Speaker: Apparently.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: I've just.
Speaker: Is it a newer series or the one from 92?
Speaker: Oh, no.
Speaker: It's 85.
Speaker: Are you sure?
Speaker: I'm talking the 85 movie.
Speaker: Highlander 1.
Speaker: Well, yeah.
Speaker: That's the movie.
Speaker: 1986.
Speaker: You said you're watching the show.
Speaker: No, I'm watching the movie.
Speaker: Oh, you're watching the movie.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So it's only two hours long and I can't finish it.
Speaker: How the heck have you... My man.
Speaker: Every time I sit down and watch it, something happens.
Speaker: I've been picking up where I left off.
Speaker: That's what makes it worse.
Speaker: Oh my God.
Speaker: Actually, today was the longest time I got to sit down.
Speaker: Just sit down with the family and be like, you're not playing anything on the Nintendo Switch?
Speaker: We are watching Highlander.
Speaker: I tried that.
Speaker: They were scared of the...
Speaker: during the first f ight i was like oh my god i'm raising a bunch of pussies i've never actually watched highlander so i have no idea what it's even about like i don't know if it's appropriate for kids or not so well seeing as how they cut off somebody cut off each other's heads i'd say no um but you need to fix i mean i saw that when i was younger i watched movies like that when i was younger really dude you weren't even allowed to watch ghostbusters because it was too scary
Speaker: No, I was allowed to watch Ghostbusters.
Speaker: I wasn't allowed to watch Harry Potter because there was magic in it.
Speaker: But we'll let you watch people being beheaded.
Speaker: There is.
Speaker: So, like, it was very weird.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Because it's, now that I'm really thinking, because it's like, you know, Willow was like a staple movie in my household, but yet we couldn't watch Harry Potter.
Speaker: Yeah, I was going to say, Willow's got a lot of magic in it, too.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I think it's because of, like, all the teaching of magic that happens in the Harry Potter movies.
Speaker: Well...
Speaker: There was a lot during that time.
Speaker: When it first came out, I was going to say there was a lot.
Speaker: I remember there was a lot going on that people were saying about the Harry Potter movies.
Speaker: Everyone was painting with bad rap.
Speaker: It's just satanic and stuff like that.
Speaker: I do remember that.
Speaker: There were a lot of losers back then.
Speaker: Back then?
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: I didn't say it.
Speaker: This time I'm in the car.
Speaker: Not me.
Speaker: But yeah, so I've been doing that.
Speaker: Something will never escape.
Speaker: Something will never escape.
Speaker: There's people in every generation that are too extreme on all sides.
Speaker: So I've been doing that.
Speaker: That's been pretty much it.
Speaker: Taking care of Mrs. Ramsey's, trying to make her get better and trying to just get our feet back underneath us, get our lives back
Speaker: under control and just trying to relax i did get to sit down and play a a game played diablo 2 played diablo 2 three days ago i offered to play again last night but what he didn't somebody said they couldn't play with me they weren't you did not no no no you did not offer
Speaker: I just told you no meeting up last night.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: You never said.
Speaker: You literally.
Speaker: No, you literally said nothing.
Speaker: So on Sunday, you text me nice.
Speaker: And then there was nothing yesterday except the letter K when I sent that.
Speaker: Well, I wasn't, you know, I was sitting there trying to figure out.
Speaker: I'm like, does he think today's Tuesday?
Speaker: You know, are we supposed to be?
Speaker: I'm not going to lie.
Speaker: I totally thought today was Wednesday.
Speaker: So there you go.
Speaker: I'm like, you must think it's Tuesday and we're not, we're supposed to be meeting up tonight, but it's not.
Speaker: So, okay.
Speaker: I'm not going to know.
Speaker: Cause I know, I know you were trying, well, it was because you were trying to meet up a few days earlier, but like when we played, when we played Diablo, you said we could record then or play Diablo.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: So I thought we were running late.
Speaker: I don't, I don't, are we on a two week schedule or a one week schedule?
Speaker: Well, now that you mentioned it.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Are we supposed to be recording this week or?
Speaker: I really don't know.
Speaker: And I'm afraid to change.
Speaker: Welcome to the wonderful world of podcasts, ladies and gentlemen, where we make plans.
Speaker: We forget plans.
Speaker: Is it a week?
Speaker: Is it two weeks?
Speaker: Maybe we're once a month and we don't even know.
Speaker: We'll never be two months.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: I don't think it's been two months.
Speaker: Now.
Speaker: Oh, you mean since we started?
Speaker: No, since we last recorded.
Speaker: No, we literally recorded last week.
Speaker: Did we?
Speaker: Yeah, did you not post the episode?
Speaker: Yeah, no, we screwed up and we were late.
Speaker: That's why.
Speaker: Yeah, no, because I got sick and then you had everything else going on.
Speaker: So, yeah, we recorded last week.
Speaker: This is getting us back on track.
Speaker: And that's why it feels like we were going to get back.
Speaker: Well, last week was a catch-up.
Speaker: It was between the two weeks.
Speaker: The first week we'd missed, so we caught up last week, and this week would be the next recording.
Speaker: Right?
Speaker: So it's every two weeks.
Speaker: Yeah, it's every two weeks.
Speaker: Oh, no.
Speaker: Are we two weeks or three?
Speaker: Okay, so then yes.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, so you're welcome to the wonderful world of recording, everybody.
Speaker: Really?
Speaker: Well, that also answers why I don't feel like I got much done.
Speaker: Make a plan.
Speaker: Don't try to stick to it.
Speaker: That's how you do it.
Speaker: Just have a plan there.
Speaker: Be like,
Speaker: sure it's going to happen and if it happens it happens if it doesn't happen great but make it happen and that's how you do a podcast everybody thank you for coming to my ted talk you never listen to a ted talk they're pretty interesting sometimes yeah they're usually i mean i've heard people i've heard people always say thank you for coming to my ted talk and it's usually after them just kind of vomiting on the keyboard but yeah
Speaker: Basically, that's what they're like.
Speaker: Some idiot gets on stage and tries to sound like they're actually intelligent and tells you everything that you're supposed to know about something.
Speaker: Sometimes it's like, okay, that's a lot of good information.
Speaker: Other times it's like, oh my god, I wish you'd drown yourself.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Why don't you go find a scratch and sniff on the bottom of the pool?
Speaker: You know, I've done that before.
Speaker: I just want to see the look on your face.
Speaker: I definitely have not done that before.
Speaker: The impossibilities of that.
Speaker: Now, that being said, that would be an absolutely hilarious joke.
Speaker: You just put a sticker in the pool and make it a challenge.
Speaker: Whoever finds it first and can bring it up to you.
Speaker: Obviously, you don't have to stay down there.
Speaker: You come back up for air, but it's like, you know, like, you never did those little birthday parties when you were, like, five, six years?
Speaker: A little too young for swimming, but, like, probably, like, seven, eight years old.
Speaker: Well, no, first off, I never went to birthday parties, but, yeah.
Speaker: I did do diving into the pool looking for things.
Speaker: But... To be fair, I only had one friend who had birthday parties, so.
Speaker: To be honest with you, I had one friend, so we're good.
Speaker: There you go, then.
Speaker: No, but mine's from a blonde joke.
Speaker: How do you kill a blonde?
Speaker: You put a scratch and sniff on the bottom of the pool and tell her it's strawberry.
Speaker: Another one, how do you kill a blonde?
Speaker: Give her spike shoulder pads and ask her a question.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: I'm blonde, so I can make this to this.
Speaker: I was definitely heard them all before though.
Speaker: That is for sure.
Speaker: I'm trying to think there was what?
Speaker: So if I was blonde and my hair went gray, does that mean I have to revoke my blonde card?
Speaker: Yeah, actually.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: But if I used, uh, if I go and get some hair dye, that gives me artificial intelligence, right?
Speaker: I hate you so much.
Speaker: Anyways, enough with these.
Speaker: We can start on the Obama jokes.
Speaker: No, for love of God, please no.
Speaker: Jack Norris?
Speaker: Oh, come on.
Speaker: You know how I feel about that.
Speaker: Jack Norris jokes?
Speaker: What do you feel about Jack Norris jokes?
Speaker: No, I was talking about the Obama jokes.
Speaker: What were we talking about?
Speaker: We were talking about Arc.
Speaker: We were talking about Jack Black movie.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, remember we were talking about the Mario movie?
Speaker: Anyways, terribly sorry.
Speaker: We have no idea where we were.
Speaker: I'm going to be completely honest with you.
Speaker: We have no idea where we were.
Speaker: So we're going to jump into a different topic now, one that I went over last week.
Speaker: What?
Speaker: I was going to say, I segued into Diablo 2.
Speaker: Oh, you did, didn't you?
Speaker: Yeah, and then you went off on a tangent about blonde jokes and all that.
Speaker: You just lost us.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: That was totally me.
Speaker: Yeah, because I'm the one that makes those jokes.
Speaker: Oh, man.
Speaker: You dirty.
Speaker: Yeah, so we found time to play video games this week.
Speaker: Oh, man.
Speaker: Play a little bit of Diablo 2.
Speaker: It's an amazingly fun game.
Speaker: Although I will say it is a little...
Speaker: dated tedious tedious it is dude yeah like the the dungeon crawling is very tedious i love it so like cool no like it's definitely fun but like constantly having to go back sell stuff that is so well you don't have to sell everything
Speaker: Just don't pick up the stuff you don't need.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: Just don't pick the stuff up.
Speaker: But you don't know what you're picking up because it's unidentified.
Speaker: So you only pick up magic items then.
Speaker: Yeah, but then you don't know if it's actually something that's worth anything.
Speaker: That's the consequence.
Speaker: Or you pick it up, you see if it's good for you.
Speaker: If not, throw it.
Speaker: I mean... But yeah, no, because I started playing... Like I said, I was playing on the Druid.
Speaker: pretty sure i text you that i don't know if you read it or not yeah that you played again but yeah i still i started an offline playthrough at the druid and dude i'm loving the druid you literally don't have to do anything you just send your little birds your little wolves after everything and then transform into werewolf and then just go smack things in the face i think um i think necromancers like that too
Speaker: Mind you, I haven't played necromancer since the nineties.
Speaker: I think the necromancer, the necromancer is probably more ranged base.
Speaker: Whereas the Druid is more close combat.
Speaker: Cause like I said, the Druid, I, you, you send your minions after them via the birds and the wolves and stuff like that, but you actually transform into a werewolf or a dire bear, where bear.
Speaker: I will say this.
Speaker: If Blizzard ever listens to me, please, for the love of God, put all three Warcrafts on the Switch.
Speaker: Make my day.
Speaker: Just a second.
Speaker: Oh, Warcraft.
Speaker: Warcraft.
Speaker: Warcraft.
Speaker: I didn't get that much in the Starcraft.
Speaker: I didn't get all three Warcrafts.
Speaker: Say that again?
Speaker: What do you mean by Warcraft?
Speaker: Are you talking about World of Warcraft?
Speaker: No, Warcraft.
Speaker: There's Warcraft 1, Orcs and Men.
Speaker: Two was Seeds of Darkness, I think.
Speaker: And then the third one was Tides of Darkness.
Speaker: Thank you very much.
Speaker: You're mumbling.
Speaker: I said orcs and humans.
Speaker: Thank you very much.
Speaker: What did I say?
Speaker: I mean, back in 2019, it says Warcraft, orcs, and humans, and Warcraft 2 Battle.net.com edition, now available on goodoldgames.com.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: It is on goodoldgames, and I have it on my PC, but I want it on my Switch.
Speaker: Yeah, that's what hacks are for.
Speaker: And that's what I'm working on right now.
Speaker: Is it cheaper and better to hack a Switch than it is to just get a Steam Deck?
Speaker: Actually, yes.
Speaker: It's extremely cheap to hack the Switch.
Speaker: All it requires is a certain piece that does it.
Speaker: I don't mean cheap as in how much does it cost to hack the Switch because you have to buy the Switch first.
Speaker: What I mean is performance-wise, is it worth hacking a Switch over just getting a Steam Deck?
Speaker: Because the Steam Deck is $400.
Speaker: Switch is $300.
Speaker: I thought it was $900.
Speaker: Depending on the edition that you get, I'm pretty sure there are some Steam Decks that you can buy for much cheaper.
Speaker: Oh, okay.
Speaker: Yeah, $400 for the base model.
Speaker: For me, it's just the fact that I have the Switch.
Speaker: So, you know, might as well pack it.
Speaker: Well, no, I know.
Speaker: I understand that because you had the one that was busted anyways.
Speaker: But I just mean, that's what I mean, though, is it's like, you know, for anyone listening to us, perhaps, or for me, perhaps, is it cheaper to, like, how good is a Switch when it's modded?
Speaker: That I've not gotten to yet.
Speaker: I am still... What can it run?
Speaker: Tell me.
Speaker: From what I understand, it could actually do real well.
Speaker: It can run PS1 real well, which, you know, that, to me, a PS1 should be the minimum that it can run at that point.
Speaker: Um...
Speaker: But they said that it could run a Sega Saturn.
Speaker: I'm like, okay.
Speaker: And, you know, you can get all the games that you want that, you know, the retro games.
Speaker: You don't have to worry about them releasing on the Switch online, which is annoying because you're sitting there for them to drip feed you crap like burger time instead of something excellent like Yo Noid.
Speaker: I have no idea the two things you just said.
Speaker: BurgerTime wasn't a bad game.
Speaker: You annoyed sucked.
Speaker: Didn't you say the opposite, though?
Speaker: Pushing out terrible games?
Speaker: That was my point.
Speaker: That was a terrible joke.
Speaker: I thought it was a terrible.
Speaker: Out of 2000.
Speaker: The...
Speaker: The big thing about it, though, is the fact that you do get to, you know, you can pretty much just put your games on there.
Speaker: You know, I'm excited about that so I don't have to keep looking for my cartridges.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Or letting little ones lose my cartridges, like my Dead Cells and all the other games.
Speaker: Sad moment.
Speaker: I'll never forget it.
Speaker: You were so excited for like a month and that was it.
Speaker: It was gone.
Speaker: I don't even think you had it a month long.
Speaker: It was gone so fast.
Speaker: I remember you told me about it.
Speaker: We never got to play it because you were out of town at the time.
Speaker: And when you came back, it was gone.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Well, I truly think it got lost on the plane ride.
Speaker: There was a whole bunch of games that got lost all at once.
Speaker: And it's devastating.
Speaker: I still haven't replaced it.
Speaker: I just can't bring myself to suffer.
Speaker: No memory.
Speaker: So...
Speaker: But having it on my Switch would be a great thing.
Speaker: So, yeah.
Speaker: That is true.
Speaker: Now, is there a way to mod it?
Speaker: Because with the 3DS, you can mod the 3DS to where it can still play cartridge games.
Speaker: It can still play its own 3DS cartridge games.
Speaker: You can do that with the Switch as well.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Well, here's the problem with the Switch.
Speaker: I'm going to tell you right now, don't even bother trying to look for one.
Speaker: Because you have to get the first gen of the Switch.
Speaker: Otherwise, it doesn't work.
Speaker: They're all patched.
Speaker: So...
Speaker: Only like, you know, first, yeah, yeah.
Speaker: Okay, I'll say that.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: That being said, also, we definitely do not recommend doing this kind of stuff as it breaks user license agreements.
Speaker: Just a disclaimer.
Speaker: We do not do this ourselves.
Speaker: I don't feel point your nose elsewhere.
Speaker: I don't think you've ever actually hacked anything, have you?
Speaker: My PSP.
Speaker: You dirty, dirty boy.
Speaker: To be fair, I'm not actually the one that hacked it.
Speaker: It was technically given to me, and it was hacked.
Speaker: And then I got Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, and I played Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, which required an update.
Speaker: So I chose to play Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep over keeping 1,000 games on my PSP.
Speaker: Sucker.
Speaker: Wonderful decision.
Speaker: Absolutely wonderful decision.
Speaker: I love it so much.
Speaker: I'm pretty sure everything on that.
Speaker: I'm actually, you know, now that I think about it, that PSP probably still has everything loaded into the card.
Speaker: Hmm.
Speaker: Were they SIM?
Speaker: Were they SD cards?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Now, yeah.
Speaker: Let me pull it out real fast and let me look at it.
Speaker: They're, um, I want to say yes, but they're not SD cards.
Speaker: They're memory sticks.
Speaker: That's what they are, but you can get a memory stick with an SD card in it.
Speaker: This one does not have it.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: See, actually, PSP was the first one that pushed me for that because I had a game on the PSP I absolutely worshipped.
Speaker: I loved it.
Speaker: I thought it was the greatest game in the world.
Speaker: Unfortunately, it did not survive Iraq.
Speaker: And when I got back, I couldn't find it.
Speaker: So I thought, oh, I'd do this.
Speaker: Unfortunately, what happened then was nobody else apparently played infected.
Speaker: And so that was on the very bottom of the list to get fixed.
Speaker: So I could never get it to run.
Speaker: What's infected?
Speaker: Oh, it's a great little zombie game.
Speaker: If you ever get the chance to play it, it's an awesome game.
Speaker: You are basically in middle of Manhattan or Grand Central State Grand Times.
Speaker: No, where they put the day of Christmas tree.
Speaker: And it's Christmas.
Speaker: Grand Central Square or something like that.
Speaker: Something like that.
Speaker: Some New Yorker thing.
Speaker: As you can tell, neither of us have been to New York.
Speaker: So you're there.
Speaker: Say again?
Speaker: It's Times Square.
Speaker: Times Square?
Speaker: Times Square.
Speaker: That's what we were talking about.
Speaker: Yeah, it's Times Square.
Speaker: J. Jonah.
Speaker: J. J. No.
Speaker: Spider-Man villains.
Speaker: J. Not Spider-Man villains.
Speaker: The newspaper.
Speaker: J. Jonah Jameson.
Speaker: J. Jonah Jameson.
Speaker: J. Jonah Jameson.
Speaker: There you go.
Speaker: Yeah, where his face always goes in the Spider-Man movies.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: God, that was painful.
Speaker: Anyways, so you're in the square and it's Christmas.
Speaker: They go to light the tree and a butt ton of zombies attack.
Speaker: Well, somehow when they bite you, it doesn't kill you because your blood is an anti-zombie coagulant blood.
Speaker: What?
Speaker: It's dumb, but basically they hook your finger into this gun and it shoots your blood at the zombies and blows the zombies up.
Speaker: And it's fun.
Speaker: Oh, I feel like I know this.
Speaker: Oh, it's great.
Speaker: I do not know.
Speaker: It's got a heavy metal soundtrack.
Speaker: I definitely do not know it.
Speaker: It's got a heavy metal soundtrack that includes Slipknot.
Speaker: In fact, I think they do Eyeless from Slipknot.
Speaker: I miss when video games had these awesome soundtracks, you know?
Speaker: I know, right?
Speaker: Then again, I wish movies did too, but it's not a story.
Speaker: Don't get me started on heavy metal, the movie.
Speaker: Some movies do have decent soundtracks.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: Games nowadays, it's like... I mean, don't get me wrong.
Speaker: There are still masterpieces out there where the actual games music is really freaking good.
Speaker: But you don't just get these zombie killers with heavy metal playing in the background.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: Or Castlevania, dude.
Speaker: I've actually got...
Speaker: um, Castlevania Symphony of Night soundtrack on my Pandora and it blows, blows me away.
Speaker: Every time I hear it, it is like the greatest song in the world.
Speaker: It is the greatest song, uh, greatest soundtrack in the world.
Speaker: The only one I think actually beats it is Bloody Tears, but, uh, that's another story.
Speaker: I just love that game and I love that song.
Speaker: Um, and you know, it's great.
Speaker: And I miss those good soundtracks.
Speaker: I miss those wicked soundtracks.
Speaker: I miss those.
Speaker: Speaking of heavy metal, I just miss heavy metal, the anthology, not fuck to which, you know, everybody's like, oh, that sucks.
Speaker: It wasn't the worst movie in the world, but it was subpar considered to heavy metal one.
Speaker: But, you know, heavy metal just we're trying to avoid it.
Speaker: And it's like, don't don't avoid it.
Speaker: It's great.
Speaker: know i love my i love me some heavy metal music book and uh movies so they can't say heavy metal without thinking about that crazy freaking movie dude i i am actually needing to sit down and watch that movie again i miss it i don't it was so freaking weird
Speaker: Yeah, you watched it the first time you watched it with me.
Speaker: I watched it with you.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I knew you watched it with me, but I couldn't remember if that was the first time.
Speaker: I thought so.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: We never watched Beavis and Butthead do America, did we?
Speaker: No, and you'll never get me to watch a Beavis and Butthead movie.
Speaker: Or the South Park movie.
Speaker: You'll never get me to watch a South Park movie either.
Speaker: Pussy.
Speaker: I don't.
Speaker: It's not.
Speaker: I just don't find it funny.
Speaker: There's nothing in it that's funny.
Speaker: I don't remember if I actually liked the Beavis and Bud movie.
Speaker: I think it came at the right time for me where I really needed to watch that.
Speaker: The South Park movie I still think is one of my favorites.
Speaker: And I'm glad they never did a real sequel.
Speaker: I just cannot stand.
Speaker: I cannot stand the voices in South Park.
Speaker: I just can't.
Speaker: They literally pierce your brain.
Speaker: I feel like it pierces your brain and makes you more stupid.
Speaker: Just through the sheer itch of their voices.
Speaker: For me.
Speaker: You're going to start blasting that in your car now.
Speaker: Kyle's mom is a big.
Speaker: Better stop now before we get there.
Speaker: I just can't.
Speaker: Their voice is just so.
Speaker: I like that.
Speaker: And now, aside from movies, it just sounds like a shrieking, dying bird the entire time.
Speaker: See, I don't think that.
Speaker: Tell me that doesn't sound like a dying, shrieking bird.
Speaker: That's exactly what they sound like.
Speaker: That's not what they sound like at all.
Speaker: That is exactly what they sound like.
Speaker: Every single one of them.
Speaker: I don't think you've ever watched a South Park.
Speaker: Oh, I have.
Speaker: My roommates used to love it.
Speaker: I hated it.
Speaker: Now, aside from South Park, the next two things I need to watch are Tripping the Rift and Indoor Together.
Speaker: Before we get off this subject, we're old, man.
Speaker: How long ago did the South Park movie come out?
Speaker: Oh, it came out when I was still a teenager, so...
Speaker: 1990 freaking nine man yeah see i remember that god no wonder you never watched it you were you were what four uh don't don't don't tell your real age don't tell your real age that's fine what's one i'm gonna get from my real age it's literal it's literally public information let people think anybody older older
Speaker: I am as young as I want to be, good sir.
Speaker: You can be pretty much anything you want.
Speaker: You just got to say you are.
Speaker: Only your body grows older.
Speaker: I tried to identify as Elon Musk.
Speaker: We're not getting into that.
Speaker: Anyways.
Speaker: I tried.
Speaker: But yeah, so 21 years ago, the movie, 2021, God, I'm terrible at math right now.
Speaker: No, 24 years ago, the movie came out.
Speaker: All I got to say to prove how old I am is our shit was funny.
Speaker: There.
Speaker: I went, you know, I'm old.
Speaker: You know, what can I say is funny now?
Speaker: Archer?
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Good luck telling that to anybody.
Speaker: What's funny now?
Speaker: Archer and actually,
Speaker: Oh, they'll come up with a list of things.
Speaker: I don't think so.
Speaker: I mean, you got Archer and you got Bumsberg.
Speaker: Here's the thing.
Speaker: No, no, no.
Speaker: Because here's the thing.
Speaker: Your humor is different than my humor.
Speaker: Me, what I find hilarious is not what you find hilarious.
Speaker: Obviously, as you can tell with South Park, where I hate South Park, you like South Park.
Speaker: We both grew up in the same time.
Speaker: You thought the Turtles movie was funny, didn't you?
Speaker: You thought Michael Bay's Turtles movie was good.
Speaker: No, I don't know.
Speaker: I will say, like I said, I felt like the second one was more akin to what the Turtles actually felt like back in the day.
Speaker: I almost started that one today.
Speaker: I almost brought myself to it.
Speaker: I had the button over rent and I could not force myself to press play.
Speaker: It should have been streaming on something.
Speaker: What was it?
Speaker: It should be streaming on something.
Speaker: No, I said I had rented it.
Speaker: I have to pay money to suffer.
Speaker: No, if you have to know, it was supposed to, wasn't it on like freaking Paramount or ATO?
Speaker: Yeah, I have to pay for Paramount too.
Speaker: Well, that's what I mean though, is it's like don't rent it, just subscribe to Paramount for a month and get every movie.
Speaker: Well, actually it's only seven days now.
Speaker: Oh, you mean, you mean, yeah, actually pay for it one month.
Speaker: I'm not paying for it one month.
Speaker: You know what?
Speaker: We could watch them.
Speaker: I just don't watch that much TV.
Speaker: It'd be a waste for me.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I'm just saying any, like, I'm pretty sure it was streaming and I think I watched it on Amazon.
Speaker: I tried to get it on Amazon.
Speaker: It was, I think it was like $3.99.
Speaker: It was like, no, I just cannot bring myself to do it.
Speaker: Now, they also have the Turtles vs. Batman, which I want to rewatch just so I can give a more accurate update.
Speaker: And that would have been worth it right there.
Speaker: Other than that, I've actually run myself out of things to talk about.
Speaker: Wow.
Speaker: Have you now?
Speaker: The man who loves the sound of his own voice has to shut up now.
Speaker: No, I gotta find something else.
Speaker: Meanwhile, I'm... I'm pretty sure it's... Is it not Amazon?
Speaker: Are you sure?
Speaker: It's Paramount+.
Speaker: Yeah, you don't have to rent it.
Speaker: It's on Paramount+.
Speaker: So, like... I still have to pay for Paramount+.
Speaker: Again, what I was saying, though, is...
Speaker: Rather than rent a single movie, because there's a lot of stuff on Paramount Plus that you wanted to watch.
Speaker: Star Trek.
Speaker: I've seen enough Star Trek.
Speaker: I don't need to watch anything new.
Speaker: So I was going to say of the third movies, you were wanting to watch Picard and you know it.
Speaker: No, I really was not.
Speaker: I don't want to watch Picard.
Speaker: I don't want to watch Strange New World.
Speaker: I don't want to watch Destiny or whatever it is.
Speaker: Then why did you ask for my login when I first got Paramount?
Speaker: Did you first get Paramount when Picard first came out?
Speaker: No, it was like, I got it like back when...
Speaker: Actually, no, I wasn't even the one that got it, but it was like, it was like less than a year ago.
Speaker: My sister was the one that ended up getting it.
Speaker: So, and then I realized how much is actually on Paramount plus.
Speaker: See, I don't even remember asking you for your information, but either way, no, I don't want to watch that stuff.
Speaker: I don't want to watch any of that.
Speaker: That's like watching the new star Wars.
Speaker: I'd rather just go, you know, try to gurgle for gold under the pool.
Speaker: Gurgle for gold under the pool.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: That's a new one right there, y'all.
Speaker: Gurgle for gold under a pool.
Speaker: You know what?
Speaker: Our next one of these, I'm bringing out my alcohol, and I'm going to sit here and just see how dumb I can get by the end of the episode.
Speaker: Because I'm already doing a pretty good sober.
Speaker: That'll be the episode where we start.
Speaker: And five minutes later, after cutting everything else out, we end.
Speaker: Oh, no.
Speaker: Yeah, five minutes after I take my first drink.
Speaker: Oh, he's stressed, y'all.
Speaker: Good night.
Speaker: I mean, honestly, it wouldn't take me very much anymore because I don't drink anymore.
Speaker: I'm pretty sure probably one beer would get me there.
Speaker: Yeah, I bet you drink Bud Light, though, so.
Speaker: God, no.
Speaker: Come on now, you know me better than that.
Speaker: I'm a man of refined taste, thank you very much.
Speaker: I like my IPAs, my dark doggers.
Speaker: Thank you very much.
Speaker: You know, I can prove I'm not a millennial by the fact that I cannot stay in IPAs.
Speaker: You're a millennial whether you like it or not, dude.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: No, I'm still a mixer.
Speaker: I swear to God.
Speaker: You're a millennial.
Speaker: No matter what you think, just because you think you're something doesn't mean you would.
Speaker: I am what I am.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: So, yeah.
Speaker: Anyway, what I was mentioning earlier, you know, let's jump back to a topic that I talked about last week, which was ARC for the Switch, right?
Speaker: I mainly just want to
Speaker: touch on the subject because well i'd only played it for like an hour you know and i was saying it's good you know i'm not i was saying it it runs well on the switch so now i've played it for about 30 hours okay i think your face says it all yeah so i've had a lot more time to play video games than you because it's been dead slow this week like in terms of work it's been slow but everywhere else has been busy
Speaker: But anyways, I played it for a solid bit, like at least 10 to 15 hours of gameplay.
Speaker: I've only had it crash once.
Speaker: The game quite literally runs better than any other system I have played it on.
Speaker: It doesn't look better, but it runs better.
Speaker: And that's why I wanted to touch back on the subject.
Speaker: It's like I said last week, you know, it runs on the Nintendo Switch and that's really all I can say about it.
Speaker: Now I'm saying, you know what?
Speaker: It is 100% worth the 10 to 20 bucks.
Speaker: Then we... Alright.
Speaker: I mean, like I said, I touched on it last week when we were talking about it.
Speaker: But again, I had only played it for like an hour at that point because I just bought it that day.
Speaker: You know, and like I said, it had like the screen tearing and stuff like that, where it's like, it's not so much screen.
Speaker: It's like a ghosting where it's like, you know, the wings of an Argentavius flap.
Speaker: And it's like, you can see it in all three positions fading away, you know?
Speaker: Hmm.
Speaker: You know what I mean by ghosting, right?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, I was going to say it's like put the mouse trail on your keyboard and mouse on and then move the mouse to the left and that's what a ghost is.
Speaker: Just with the ones that are following the mouse are, you know, opaque.
Speaker: So it's it's after images for those of y'all who don't know.
Speaker: They're after images that come behind a video game image.
Speaker: And now can you explain tearing better than I can?
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: Well, no, it's not tearing.
Speaker: Like I said, can you explain what tearing is?
Speaker: Well, yes, but the game doesn't have it.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: You said it doesn't have tearing, so explain what tearing is.
Speaker: Oh.
Speaker: Well, tearing is, so when you look at a seam in a video game and next thing you know, nothing beyond the seam exists anymore.
Speaker: You know how it's like, you know, you look a certain, have you ever like looked a certain direction and next thing you know, what?
Speaker: we always called that draw distance no so you're looking at the ground 10 feet in front of you and you notice there's a little white speck like a little white line right and then it's like certain angles like let's say you walk a certain direction and like the different angle like it literally like
Speaker: It's not that it's everything is stops rendering is what happens because it thinks you're not looking at anything.
Speaker: At least to my knowledge, that's what screen tearing is.
Speaker: Now you got me double checking.
Speaker: That might be a good idea.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I mean, yeah.
Speaker: Visual artifacts that mostly occur in video games.
Speaker: So screen tearing would be like, that's one of them, but that's, that's more,
Speaker: on the graphics.
Speaker: So, well, so that's more on the graphics engine than it is on the like screen or anything like that.
Speaker: So one thing that can be it is, so let's say your graphics card is going bad.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: And you know how you get like, you're watching a movie and a really bright light suddenly just appears.
Speaker: It's not actually part of the movie.
Speaker: And then it like, kind of like stretches on your screen.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: That's a screen tear.
Speaker: That's an artifact.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: You didn't describe it any better than I could, but then again... Yeah, it's a terrible way to explain it.
Speaker: It's like... I don't think I could describe it any better than you did either.
Speaker: Yeah, so the technical definition of it is... What is the technical definition of it?
Speaker: It's like the screen gets lit.
Speaker: Welcome to our technical talk, y'all.
Speaker: I mean, Terry... What do you think I can type right now?
Speaker: Yeah, we can hear you clitter clatter.
Speaker: Yeah, I know.
Speaker: Yeah, so, okay, so this is caused by a mismatch between the video feeds frame rate and the displays refresh rate.
Speaker: Yeah, so it's a combination of the two.
Speaker: So what I was referring to is not actually a screen tear where I was saying the rendering stops and it's like you don't see anything.
Speaker: You see that line.
Speaker: That's not a screen tear.
Speaker: That's a visual glitch.
Speaker: It's...
Speaker: I guess the after image after image might be a type of frame tearing actually.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Maybe you could explain it better.
Speaker: Cause that's not the way I was going to go with it.
Speaker: My answer was that it looks like, it looks like the screen kind of gets shifted in half or it shouldn't.
Speaker: And, uh,
Speaker: The only real example I ever had of it was Skyrim.
Speaker: Actually, any Oblivion game.
Speaker: Not Oblivion, but Bethesda game when they first get released.
Speaker: But I don't know.
Speaker: We'll look it up and we'll give you all an answer for the next.
Speaker: Well, no.
Speaker: I mean, it's pretty much... Ghosting is a...
Speaker: It's a visual glitch as is screen tearing.
Speaker: They're both classified as extremely similar, but they're not exactly the same.
Speaker: Screen tearing is its own thing.
Speaker: Ghosting is its own thing.
Speaker: So screen tearing is you look to the left really fast on a video game and it takes a long time for it to actually render everything properly and everything looks stretched and distorted.
Speaker: Ghosting is what we described as the after image.
Speaker: There you go.
Speaker: Boom.
Speaker: That is a great way to answer because that's I've actually seen that, but I didn't know that was called tearing.
Speaker: So yeah, it happens when the graphics engine, like it's not keeping up like the monitors not keeping up with what can be produced.
Speaker: So it's like your graphics card or your graphics processing unit, whatever you want to call it, even if it's for consoles, it does the same thing.
Speaker: It can't keep up with the refresh rate or vice versa.
Speaker: The refresh rate of the monitor can't keep up with the graphics unit.
Speaker: So,
Speaker: The game knows that you're turning left, but there's nothing to actually process yet, so it kind of just stretches things and stuff like that.
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: Well, we'll see.
Speaker: That's a good way, John.
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: So Arc runs on the Switch.
Speaker: It not only does run, but it works pretty well.
Speaker: You only had one glitch.
Speaker: I crashed once.
Speaker: I crashed once.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And then there is one glitch where that's not a Nintendo Switch problem.
Speaker: That's an ARC problem.
Speaker: So like I said, there's not more ARC problems.
Speaker: That's what I'm saying.
Speaker: It's like ARC had a lot of problems.
Speaker: And I haven't experienced any of them.
Speaker: So that's why I was saying it runs better on the Switch than I've ever had it run.
Speaker: Even on my computer.
Speaker: The only downfall is the graphics.
Speaker: And that's it.
Speaker: And graphically, it's not terrible.
Speaker: Hmm.
Speaker: It'd be like, you know, if you were to rank ARC on the PC as S rank, it would be B rank comparatively.
Speaker: I'm not saying ARC is S rank, but I'm just saying if ARC was the standard max rank, you know, it's a 65 versus a 95.
Speaker: How about that?
Speaker: Out of 100.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, I know.
Speaker: Anyways.
Speaker: Trying to fix your arc as a 95.
Speaker: So anyways.
Speaker: I'm losing.
Speaker: I started talking about something and it's done.
Speaker: I'm not allowed to talk.
Speaker: No talk for you.
Speaker: I'm kidding.
Speaker: It's also late here.
Speaker: Well, is there anything else you would like to mention?
Speaker: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?
Speaker: and on that note you're sure there's not anything else you would like to mention um well i did want i was going to talk about savage worlds but we are beyond time oh yeah no we are we don't have time for that we will most likely talk about savage worlds and what we eventually plan on doing for a dnd game next time i am
Speaker: I'm going to try to get on the next day or two, record at least a cursory explanation of what Savage Worlds is and what Game Emulator is.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: That should work.
Speaker: At that point, we'll have to discuss it.
Speaker: Sorry.
Speaker: He sent me a message and it kind of threw me off track.
Speaker: This is what happens when you call me dumb.
Speaker: I lose track.
Speaker: I don't think three.
Speaker: I didn't call you dumb.
Speaker: I asked a question.
Speaker: You are mean to me.
Speaker: Now that's what happened.
Speaker: He's been mean to me.
Speaker: No, he's tired and he needs to go to bed.
Speaker: He is a typical two year old.
Speaker: He gets cranky when he's when he's tired, but he doesn't want to go to sleep even though he's cranky and tired.
Speaker: What the heck is 10,532 points?
Speaker: What in what?
Speaker: Uh, yeah.
Speaker: I have 10,532 Microsoft reward points.
Speaker: See?
Speaker: Did I call it?
Speaker: It was Bing.
Speaker: How'd you know?
Speaker: I'm psychic.
Speaker: Right now, you're looking at me like I'm an idiot while you're trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
Speaker: And get your hand off your crotch, dude.
Speaker: Do they give you points for just, like, using Bing?
Speaker: Like, has Bing fallen so low that they need to reward you for using Bing?
Speaker: They've actually done that for a long time.
Speaker: Supposedly you can actually use those for gift cards for the Microsoft.
Speaker: I was going to say, oh, the page isn't working right now.
Speaker: Of course it's not.
Speaker: I noticed that I have these points and the page is not working right now.
Speaker: I've never been able to use them either, so don't commit.
Speaker: I have 10,000 points and I have no idea what for.
Speaker: But yeah, so anyways.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I mean, I can enter a sweepstakes for 200 bucks for a new laptop or an Xbox.
Speaker: A lot of entries.
Speaker: Or numerous other.
Speaker: Dude, I could get like 10 Microsoft gift cards right now.
Speaker: Wow.
Speaker: For like, what?
Speaker: A dollar each?
Speaker: That is true.
Speaker: I should probably actually click on it and find out.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Why don't we do that after this is done?
Speaker: I can get a $10 gift card.
Speaker: Hey.
Speaker: Anyways.
Speaker: So, yes.
Speaker: Thank you, everybody, so much for watching.
Speaker: This isn't YouTube.
Speaker: Thank you, everybody, so much for listening to our extremely ramshackle podcast where we talk about things that we don't know what we're talking about.
Speaker: And I've got to say to our four followers, we love you.
Speaker: Thank you.
Speaker: Yeah, we do.
Speaker: Be sure to drop a like, all that fun jazz.
Speaker: Whether you want to or not.
Speaker: You know.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Please comment.
Speaker: Tell us how crappy we are.
Speaker: Yes, we do appreciate you very, very much.
Speaker: It's Verantis.
Speaker: That's the one that you need to call out.
Speaker: I mean...
Speaker: I mean, yeah, yeah, sounds about right.
Speaker: But yes, so thank you everybody.
Speaker: Have a wonderful couple of weeks and until next time, this is Rantus signing off.
Speaker: Deuces.
Speaker: you
Speaker: you
