Mason: What is up everybody this is Mason with the next guy at podcast I got Zach here I got Tinsley here and guess what we are all smarter than AI again

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: bob

Zack: again.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: again

Mason: I really hope someone out there listening is taking these bets because two two weeks in a row ah we have cashed our parlay

Zack: Me too. It's

Zack: pretty good.

Mason: Um, apparently my leg of the parlay likes to do nothing the first half of the game, if anything, and then, you know, let us sweat it out a little bit. But, uh, we've, we've had a good time with these bets. We'll have another one cooking next episode.

Mason: So stay in for that. But how's everybody doing? How's the football watching? How's everybody? How's everybody's day been?

Zack: Woo! That's great.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: been great made some buffalo chicken dip today so that was good good it's always good to have some buffalo chicken dip while you're watching nfl football the games were a little little crazy today first half of most the games were looking towards blowouts and then all got kind of wild there at the end it was a good weekend of a football

Zack: Sorry.

Zack: Hmm.

Mason: some comebacks yeah i'm sure we'll definitely dive into that um yeah so everybody on the pod we've all won our games this week oh wait

Zack: Hmm. Hmm.

Mason: now We haven't. Tinsley's...

Mason: Tinsley...

Zack: We are putting a perfect weekend together, Mason.

Mason: I was just...

Zack: Wow.

Mason: he was just talking about how stressed he's going to be about this game. And so, you know, my stress is no more, of course.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay. Okay. That's fine. We want to talk about how you didn't even want to win your game. You wanted to lose.

Mason: I said, and I quote, I don't know what I want. So...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We know what that means. if i If I would have said, gun the head right now, what do you want? You and my fellows.

Mason: Well, I would have said

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So we can fire Callahan.

Zack: I'll say the win.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, you had a shot at that. And then the Cardinals are just... there They're so bad. what What is going on with them? Like, he he does not want to be there.

Zack: Yeah, Kyle Murray's rough. Diggum fantasy quarterback.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Did you see the thing? I ah saw where, I guess, they're doing interview about the new training facility that's going to open up in 2028 for the Cardinals. And he said, yeah, I hope I'm still here for when it opens. Like,

Mason: Wow.

Zack: Yeah, it's not good

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I would not be surprised. I think he's a guy who's going to be on the move. They'll be like a kind of sneaky new head coach candidacy this year, I think. It's just not clicked with Gannon.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Nick Sirianni, Tree and all. you know Those guys like to stay on the hot seat.

Mason: Just like Nick Sirianni. Got a loss today, by the way.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Saikin, he's lucky he found Daniel Jones or else he'd be on the hot seat.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: and Nick Sirianni is going to He keeps this up ah blew that big lead against the Broncos.

Zack: you

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: His seat's 10 degrees warmer than it was last week, I'll tell you that.

Mason: Well, you definitely need to get that clip and put that on the because put that on the TikTok because I think that is as hot as a take as Nick's here on his hot seat is.

Mason: just kidding.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah Probably. They're probably pretty similar.

Mason: Okay, so we got some football to dive into. um What do we want to start with first?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: m Which categories? Or was there anything loose laying around? a one one pick I guess that's part of it. We don't know what we're going to

Zack: Best of the rest.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, best the rest.

Mason: Yeah, we should...

Zack: Ooh, that was tough.

Mason: a

Zack: Yeah, that one didn't end great for us we were We were off pretty bad for the first time, maybe.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Boy.

Zack: um Yeah, we blamed Butch Jones last week.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, that was a tough one.

Zack: It was his fault. This week, we picked some teams that had some unknowns. um We went pretty hard for New Mexico, who just beat the team that just beat Penn State.

Zack: So that's pretty confusing. all And...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So does that mean New Mexico should be ranked?

Zack: ah But... I mean, San Jose State should be ranked.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Or yeah, San Jose State. Yeah.

Zack: Because they just beat New Mexico. that's pretty confusing stuff there. Just to be clear. Who knows? Not me.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Any given Saturday.

Zack: How a team loses to New Mexico and then beats Penn State in the same... In like a four-game stretch is beyond me. I don't know.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, I don't know, man. It's a wild times.

Zack: What a strange world we live in.

Mason: hmm

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: we We called the under. I think the final score was like 35 to 27. Flew. Flew over.

Zack: Yeah, it was not close.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Turns out. blue

Zack: yeah um and we also thought New Mexico had the edge.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: flew over

Zack: They did not, turns out.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: turns out

Zack: and It was pretty competitive game. It was close.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, it was fun. I like fell asleep watching it.

Zack: Yeah, it was late. Late, late.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, I did start really late. So, you know, that's three and two on the best of the rest.

Zack: But it fun.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's time for a bounce back. 3-2 is still just fine.

Zack: time

Mason: Above 500.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Above 500. That's making the playoffs in the

Zack: It's pretty good.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: All right, yeah. No, I mean, other I don't want to give away categories because so some of us have a lot of points already. um And some of us were trying to play defense the whole season and got a couple points.

Zack: Who could that be?

Mason: I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't have any crazy takes. i actually watched i watched more games. I found myself flipping around today. realized that even...

Zack: well You didn't have the Jags just on the mind?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, when the Jags are on, I'll just sit through a commercial break and just watch. I don't want to miss it.

Zack: got to take a break. You need the break sometimes.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Yeah, we'll see if that's any – I don't know.

Zack: like that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Tomorrow, um but i can't be on Twitter, cannot be on TikTok tomorrow. It could be a loose cannon one way or the other.

Zack: I like that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: we already found the ref, head ref. The Chiefs are 11-0 with him reffing their games.

Zack: Yeah, Tins is pre-mad about some potential calls from the ref.

Mason: Before the game even started.

Zack: Who, apparently, the games that the ref is in, the Chiefs tend to win.

Zack: I pointed out that the Chiefs have won a lot of games in the last seven years.

Mason: Coincidence.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: eleven and o is a little sketchy. And the guy has a job as a professor at Texas Tech. Who went to Texas Tech?

Zack: Good question.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Who has his number retired at Texas Tech?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: even that's See, that which that's a joke.

Mason: Can't think of anybody.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He didn't do anything at Texas Tech, so why is his number retired there for his success in the NFL?

Zack: He didn't do anything there?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Did he win any cool big games?

Zack: I don't know, to be honest. feel like he's part of the era 8 offense over there. i just feel like he was part of the era where it was like Big 12 was just putting up humongous numbers every week.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Well, yeah, that's fine. We'll retire numbers for that. All right.

Zack: Sure, I will.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Someone better get ready to retire.

Zack: Our time to move from anything else.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Hindenhooker's number needs to be retired then.

Zack: It might be. First playoff appearance. No, he almost got playoffs.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah

Zack: Just kidding.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Just kidding. That was a heartbreaking year.

Zack: He didn't actually do that.

Zack: um Okay. Do we want to want to break some stuff down here, folks?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, let's let's dive in.

Zack: um Boy, I got a lot of fraud of the week. I've got like multiple. I'm not sure what to do with those.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: hmm a lot of frauds

Mason: Just say all of them.

Zack: Um...

Zack: I really do have multiple frauds. um Okay. So first of all, we have game of the week. Game of the week.

Zack: um I am going to get so get us started off with Texas, Florida.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: hmm

Zack: and ah Fun game over here in the swamp. if Did you pick that?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No.

Zack: oh

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: but Okay.

Zack: yes.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I see. Nevermind. Okay. Yeah. Because I picked college in NFL, so I got to stay on my toes out here.

Zack: You do. You are bold. You're the bravest of us all. ah So Texas at Florida, a big upset. If only a podcast told you this could be an upset potential.

Zack: That was us. I called this game. I was only a like a six and a half point point spread, seven and a half, something like that in Florida. ah Texas kept it close late, um but Florida was up pi pretty big late in the game.

Zack: ah This Florida kind of dominated line of scrimmage. Texas could just never really get things going. ah They just they were slower on Quinn. I mean, Arch Manning had 260 pass yards, but he had two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Zack: 16 for 29. just he wasn't he had 15 carries for 37 yards. It's not a great number.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: tough.

Zack: Uh, he just ended up, um, not playing great. Kind of what his MO has become, which is just, he's kind of mediocre quarterback in the sec. Uh, Dylan Lagway had a pretty good game. I mean, I think the story still is that, uh, Florida's defense is pretty good and the Florida's offense can just do anything.

Zack: They're going to a hard team to beat coming down the stretch here. Uh, the real winner is Billy Napier who somehow continues to be the head coach of Florida Gators.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mm-hmm.

Zack: Um, Year after year. So this game might have just saved his career again.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I would say so.

Zack: So shout to him ah for just winning that one big game every year that saved your job. I'm glad it was Texas and not Tennessee later on, hopefully.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Zack: ah So you got it out of the system early.

Zack: um Okay. Tens. Game of the week.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: are All right. So I'm going a little unconventional here. It's my game of the week, but it is going to be the Panthers against the Panthers.

Zack: I like that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Miami Dolphins. um

Mason: I'm

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: The Dolphins were up at 1.17 to three. Panthers come all the way back winning 24 21.

Zack: Thank

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Right. that the final score? I think, um, Regardless, uh, just, you got a Dolphins team that thinks maybe, okay, we, we got a big win last week against the Jets on Thursday night football.

Mason: looking.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Like it's time to start getting this thing rolling in a positive direction. And you lose the Panthers who are just, just the worst of the worst CJ Stroud or CJ Stroud. Sorry.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Uh, the other bad quarterback from that draft class, Bryce young, um,

Mason: Mm-hmm.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Just, you know, started out the game looking bad. ah They bounce back and rally. You blow a huge lead to a bad Panthers team. Mike McDaniels, after the game, looks defeated walking into the locker room. Like, he took, like a like, a little mini walk outside the locker room before he walked in looking sad. Because i the writing's on the wall. Like, this is it's over.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mike McDaniels, you're fired. It could happen tonight, honestly. Yeah. Tua, you're done. like It's just the whole thing's about to get blown up. so My game of the week, the Panthers for that rally comeback and ending the Dolphins season.

Mason: 27-24. I'm not sure what score you said. Close enough.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I was close.

Mason: Alright, let's hear your college game.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: My college game of the week didn't.

Mason: or Did you do two? Did you do a college in a...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No, I don't normally do too.

Mason: Oh, okay. Never mind.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I do too for the preview, but for categories.

Mason: Sorry.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But um yeah, I mean, in my opinion, I was really looking forward to this college slate and it ended up being kind of a bummer. But there weren't any cool games.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There were no games that really was like, oh yeah, that was something.

Mason: Nothing too crazy. OK.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I mean, other than Penn State and UCLA, but i'm i'm sure I'm sure we're going to get to them very soon.

Mason: I'm sure. Yes, 100 percent. Okay, I'm going to go with for my game of the week. I actually predicted this as my game of the week last week, and it did not disappoint. That wouldd be the Buccaneers at the Seahawks.

Mason: um This was a shootout. um it ended up put The total ah score was, I believe, like 73 points. The final score ended ended up being 38 35.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Thank you.

Mason: And we had, it was an insane game. Baker Mayfield scrambles out of the pocket and throws an 11-yard touchdown with a minute, eight seconds left to tie the game at 35.

Mason: um Unfortunately, Darnold threw a pass that got deflected and picked off. And then Baker Mayfield does what he has done literally and the Buccaneers all season long.

Mason: ah where they just they had great field position, kind of marched down a little bit further just to kick a game-winning field goal. Somehow the Buccaneers always find a way to win games like this.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah

Mason: They end up being 4-1, and all four wins have come within the final minute of the game. Both quarterbacks threw for over 340 yards each. ah Just crazy electric game, and it did not disappoint.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, that was a fun one. um Yeah, the Bucks have just some magic right now. Baker just refuses to to be out of any game. Even the game, the the one loss against the Eagles, like they came back and they they almost pulled off a comeback in that game too, so.

Mason: Almost won that one, yeah.

Mason: All right.

Zack: Okay, next up, we have Performance of the Week. And here for Performance of the Week, my nomination is your very own Nico Iamaliava.

Zack: Shout out to my guy ah taking down Penn State almost single-handedly. will tell you this guy had um almost 300 yards of offense. he had five He counted for five touchdowns, folks.

Zack: ah two passing and three on the ground. He took the game over and he said, you know what? We're not going to, we're not going down like this. And he rose to the occasion like we all knew we would.

Zack: ah Shout out to Nico. I hope this is worth it for you. um An interim head coach and and a brand new offensive coordinator.

Zack: um Just a wild set of events there, but ah Penn state goes to UCLA in front of hundreds of people and, uh, take the L they stormed the field in a very funny, video where it will it looked like when Vandy stormed the field a couple of years ago, it was like, they were just like filing onto the field quietly.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There's no one there. Yeah.

Zack: And they were like, okay, cool.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: get

Zack: Good work guys. Um, against Penn state. What, what did it move to go from the white out last week to, UCLA in that environment and then lose both games and,

Zack: James Franklin, he really probably is fraud of the century. Can't win the big one. Shout out to my guy. Penn State maybe eliminated?

Zack: Question mark?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I mean, that's too its two losses in conference.

Zack: It's close because their schedule is very soft. They have ah they have Ohio State still. If they're going beat Ohio State and sneak in, it's going to be garbage.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, but

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: he's but they've never beat Ohio State. They never do.

Zack: Yeah, we can't win the big one. That's the problem. ah So, I don't know, but it was pretty funny. Penn State's one of those teams you just love to see lose. So, not mad about that one.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mm-hmm. I'm always rigging against them.

Zack: Pretty funny.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. For no real reason. I don't... They've never done anything to me personally.

Zack: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i just... I don't hope they succeed ever.

Zack: I think they like the whole um scandal, like Joe Paterno thing, I feel like they just became a national villain.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Enemy?

Zack: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That'll do it.

Zack: Same with Miami. I feel like at one point they had had a real bad boy vibe and everyone was like, ugh, this guy suck. Yeah. ah Miami might be back, though.

Zack: Okay, moving on

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Miami might be back.

Zack: ah Mason?

Mason: I'm going to go with congrats if you pick this person up on your fantasy team.

Zack: I skipped around.

Mason: I would never, um because I don't know how to make fantasy football moves. That would be one Rico Dowdle rushing 206 yards, touchdown, and like Tinsley talked about, helping the Panthers come back from a 17-point deficit to win that game.

Zack: True.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Love that. Shout out Rico Dottle. For some reason, the Cowboys just let him walk in free agency, even though he was very good player for them.

Mason: Mm-hmm.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Turned it out. It worked out for him. Javante Williams is really good. But um yeah, no, shout out Rico Dottle today. Just absolutely carving up the Miami non-existent defense and getting us one step closer to that worst record in the in the season.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: My player of the week, performance of the week, is also... I'm just joking. No points. No points here. I went with David Montgomery, running back for the Lions, and that is because so he becomes the first player in Lions history.

Mason: All right.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: so Well, first player since 1958 to have a rushing and passing touchdown in the same game. You would think a quarterback would do that, right? Quarterbacks get rushing touchdowns all the time.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Obviously they throw the ball, but no, not since 1958 has a Lions player done that. So he threw a touchdown pass today and also rushed for one. ah He's from the Cincinnati area. His family lives there. They kept doing cutaways. His sister has a lot of health issues and she's paralyzed in the wheelchair.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And so he wanted to show out for her today. And so he did that by breaking a longstanding Lions record.

Mason: That's awesome. I did not know that about that record.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. I popped up on my screen. He was very big and a couple bets and parlays for me. So was all right, well, shout out David Montgomery.

Mason: There's some trick play magic out there today.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, they've everyone kind of thought they would run they wouldn't be doing as much trick plays without Ben Johnson. Turns out the Lions can just do whatever they want. They can just run all the creative trick play stuff no matter who's calling the plays.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Because like low-key, Dan Campbell is an offensive-minded coach and helps create all this stuff. Everybody just thinks he's probably like a more defensive player. old school type coach because he's big and muscular and listens to Metallica and likes to drink black coffee. But he's actually probably like an evil genius behind the scenes.

Mason: Metallica and drink black. like that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: that's That's what he likes to do. He likes to buy people's knees caps.

Zack: Alright. Moving on. Feel good?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Feel great.

Mason: So great.

Zack: Surprise of the week.

Zack: Because I kind of had two different frauds, I'm going to save one of my frauds. I'm going to go surprise the week. Billy B. Bill Belichick. Just getting bow raced by Clemson This is a surprise for the whole season more than just this one game I think you know came into the season just really wanted bill Belichick to ah felt like ah There's no way he was just gonna roll over and die on on the sideline and that's what he's done He's given up Jordan has done a very poor job of motivating him. It seems like, uh, he has nothing to live for anymore.

Zack: Nothing to work for, nothing to play for. I don't know why he's, i just feel like he gets every day. Like, why did I decide to do this? This is the worst. Um, I think the, ah the odds of him being the head coach of North Carolina next season are just so low.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah

Zack: ah just feel like he's having a terrible time. Um,

Zack: yeah, I just, I expected more out of bill here. thought more fight in him. I think he's done. He's cooked.

Mason: Tom Brady doesn't play for the North Carolina, so...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think I'm going to zig from that.

Zack: This is true.

Zack: Okay. I like that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: These aren't his guys.

Zack: I want you to prove me wrong.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: These aren't his guys.

Zack: a

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They didn't do a ton in the transfer portal.

Zack: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He has flipped a couple.

Zack: Who is in control of the transfer portal?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Well, it was his first season. He's trying to figure it out.

Zack: Okay. Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He has flipped a couple of five stars, including one guy from University of Tennessee, a five-star offensive lineman.

Zack: Yeah, he's going back. He's coming back. Don't worry about

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay.

Zack: You think he's watched that performance and he's like, yeah, I want to play for that guy?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think Bill's going to get some guys. I think he might turn this thing around. I think we might have been a year early on our North Carolina bets and futures.

Zack: take right there. um I think he will not be the head coach of North Carolina Targets next season. so

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I think North Carolina will win the ACC next season.

Zack: He's one done.

Mason: Wow. We are so far apart. I think you all should make some type of bet.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: With Bill Belichick as head coach.

Mason: Some type of interesting bet. A punishment. Some will say.

Zack: of

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'll think about it.

Zack: Well, we have two pretty steep different outcomes there.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: but

Mason: That's what I'm saying. You all are so far apart.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: there's And the exact middle can happen of Bill Belichick's there next year, but they're still bad again.

Zack: Throw like six and six and make a ball game. Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Zack: That's probably the most likely scenario.

Mason: That could also happen.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They're playing the Tax Slayer Bowl in Jacksonville come one sunny January morning.

Zack: I don't... Yeah, that's probably true.

Zack: That's maybe worse than just like, whatever. Whatever. I don't unless there's something in the contract where he to coach a certain amount of years before his son gets be the head coach, which is what the whole thing was about, which could be true.

Zack: I don't I don't know the ins and outs of his contract there, but. It just seems like a pretty bad situation. I'm not sure why you'd want to go play for a 75 year old Bill Belichick at this point.

Zack: um He has all the juice in the world to pull recruits. You just feel like he he could have got some guys in here that can actually play my take.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's true.

Zack: um So surprise, North Carolina is really, really bad football.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, they don't have a guy who can throw.

Mason: Was that a surprise?

Zack: They made Clemson look good, which is hard to do this season. So.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Listen, all I know is they cashed the over. We cashed the over.

Zack: We did. that You're right.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: People were doubting. There were some doubters.

Zack: There were.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: there are There were people really worried about it because I said I hated the bet. But those people shouldn't be worried.

Zack: We just can't have enough that. We've hit a three-leg parlay two weeks in a row.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, it should be the only bet any of us take.

Zack: That's pretty good.

Zack: We'd be up. If I just put all my money on that one, we'd be doing good.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, if if we just absolutely hammered it, because I've not hammered it

Zack: Yeah, except don't tell Mason, but I cashed it out at halftime. I didn't believe in Justin Fields.

Mason: Oh, no.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We were...

Zack: Justin Fields looked horrible, Mason.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: If...

Zack: What do you want me to do? i still got a nice cash out at the team.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: If we're...

Mason: call Mr. Cash out. Dang it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: If we're in the trust tree, I went and tried to cash out and wouldn't let me. It was locked.

Mason: ended up pulling it. Why y'all...

Zack: He did, Mason. He looks so bad, though.

Mason: He did. i don't know.

Zack: Just the whole the whole team.

Mason: Something about my legs that I pick. It's like they just look horrible until the fourth quarter. That's

Zack: i know. I should have i shouldve trusted.

Mason: OK.

Zack: ah Okay. ah

Mason: Don't tell Mason, but even though he's.

Zack: mason Mason, who's your ah surprise of the week?

Mason: Yes.

Mason: My surprise of the week, if you're just box score watching this game actually looks closer than it than it was. um And that would be the Lions and the Bengals.

Zack: Mm-hmm.

Mason: The final score was 37 to 24. However, going into the fourth porter The score was 28-3.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I

Mason: I feel like the Lions did let off the gas a little bit, and that there were some garbage time touchdowns. You're probably like, well, what's what's that to do? if you're You're surprised of the week. I'm just surprised that they are still rolling out Jake Browning. Into the fourth quarter, what I talked about, he had zero touchdowns and three interceptions.

Mason: He ended up finishing with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: hate that dude.

Mason: Like I said, garbage touchdown. But I just don't understand why they don't try for, we brought this up in the past, but Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson. i mean, there should be any other options out there.

Mason: And they're going to continue. ah feel like they're just wasting away their season here. With the talent that they had, Jamar Chase did have two touchdowns, I believe. Once again, kind of the da ah the garbage time.

Mason: situation but i just don't understand why they're i'm just surprised with that yes tens

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i So, I mean, there's a couple reasons. Their offensive line is really bad. um

Mason: it's not all on the quarterback i understand that i just feel like they're kind of giving up

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: most Most teams that – yeah, I feel like if – cause They are a team that should compete probably for a playoff position. The Ravens are in the tank right now. The Steelers are just, you know, I'm not buying a ton of stock in the Steelers and and the Browns are the Browns, but here's why the Bengals aren't going to do anything about it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Their owner paid out a ton of money to Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, and Tee Higgins and Trey Henderson this year. He's not going to go pay more money.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: because they are the cheapest ownership in the NFL. <unk> They don't even have like their own practice facility for the longest time. They had to go share one with in high school whenever – like It's just they're bad.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: their Their owner sucks. They have to like walk across the street to their new practice facility. They take school buses to the airport for games. Like it's just it's bad that he's not going to pay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He should. He should go get Jameis or Kirk Cousins or do something. But they're just not going to because they could take advantage of how I mean, they started out to know.

Mason: how bad this division is.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, the division's bad. You start out 2-0. As soon as Joe Burrow gets hurt, you go trade for a Kirk Cousins or Jameis Winston or I don't know. There's there's other guys out there than Jake Browning.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But they're not going to. They're going to end up with a top 10 pick. Zach Taylor probably get fired. Joe Brady will be the Bengals' new head coach. That's kind my prediction right now, which is not good. That's who you guys should have fired.

Mason: I don't know who I want.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Well, probably going to keep Callahan and y'all keep winning games like this.

Mason: Stop that.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I mean, that's crazy.

Zack: I love that.

Mason: what the? zach what the

Zack: well I cannot wait to win this division.

Zack: tens Jaguars kind of got the season backloaded with the Titans. so you know Enough time to get let the boys get right.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Huh? What was... What? I let the Titans get back in the season?

Zack: The Jags don't play the Titans until a little bit later. they're back

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh, yeah.

Zack: They're backloaded. I just said it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, we don't play another division game until November 30th.

Zack: ah So you you gave the Titans a lot of time to kind of get the get the pieces right.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh, okay. Yeah, um I'm a little bit more focused on the Colts.

Zack: Get Cam Ward going.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um But yeah, sure, I'm thinking about the Titans.

Zack: That's okay. You can focus on whoever you want to focus on, Tintz. come in

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay.

Zack: I'm back on after that win. just need to win. I'm back.

Mason: That's all it took.

Zack: Uh...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: it It took Cam Ward throwing an interception and then the defender fumbling it and then you guys recovering in the end zone for a touchdown to win the game.

Zack: Or fumbling on the one yard line and

Mason: Yes, the player dropping the ball before the one-yard line.

Zack: ah

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Right.

Zack: you just gotta get a little bit You gotta get a taste of hope winning And it's all it takes I didn't say it wasn't I said it was a win though It's a dub Counts the same Blowout wins And narrow wins that you don't really deserve Count the same One win

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's the flukiest win of all time.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay.

Mason: True.

Zack: How many wins did the Jaguars get this week, Tins? Zero.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We haven't played yet.

Mason: Wow.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Let's not... but Let's not...

Mason: He's already speaking into existence.

Zack: I mean, if they have have they got a win yet?

Mason: you

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No, they have not won yet.

Zack: Show me the win.

Mason: Zero.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Alright. That's... You know what? That's fair. That's fair.

Mason: I want to apologize to anybody listening and they have this going on in their car and Zach raises his voice and literally is eating the microphone.

Zack: Okay. I

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I've...

Zack: um will not apologize.

Mason: For some reason, when he talks about the Titans, he needs to have the microphone in his mouth.

Zack: I didn't make sure Denz is listening to me. ah

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um I'm looking.

Mason: and Your whole car is rumbling because it's just zag getting this close to the microphone.

Zack: Listen.

Zack: Listen. Tired take.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: o

Zack: Titans are tanking. Wire take. Division is in sight.

Mason: Love it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I now need to know the odds right now for the division. You should look that up real quick.

Zack: It's probably better than was last week when I took it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There's no chance. There's no chance.

Mason: Is there a cash out option, Mr. Cash Out?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um

Zack: If there was, take it already.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: While he looks but he looked that up, my surprise of the week, um I'm going to go really bold here.

Mason: but

Zack: Okay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It was going to be Washington beating the Chargers. um Chargers kind of started the season really hot, winning in their first three games all in division, and they've kind of taken a little stumble here um the last two games, losing two in a row.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But I'm actually going to change it from that, and I'm going to change this Bills-Patriots game because we're still in the first half, but I apologize for anyone who's watching this game.

Mason: Mmm.

Zack: Yeah, it's pretty gross.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i Every time I look down, there's a fumble. There's trash going on, bad football. The Bills are supposed to be this juggernaut of a team. I'm not worried about the Bills. They play no defense.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: they're They're getting real lucky that the the Patriots have fumbled the ball three times tonight. um And your wideout looks terrible. You look like an off-brand Oregon fan. Ducks uniform right now.

Zack: Sad.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: your last Your last Sunday night football game in in a historic stadium before you move to the new one and you you do this weird whiteout uniform that looks terrible and you're going to lose because of it.

Mason: Plus $25,000, by the way.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Might wake up.

Mason: If you bet $10 on that, $2,500.

Zack: you at

Mason: What'd

Zack: Guess what I got it at.

Mason: why'd you get it at?

Zack: Oh, when where did I take this? Oh, it was two weeks ago.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: the day after probably right when they drafted Kim Ward.

Zack: No.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: oh

Zack: Why was it? When I took the division winner, they were only 16,000. They're so worse.

Mason: Because Colts won again. So you have to...

Zack: Oh, man.

Mason: it's It's not just the Titans.

Zack: oh

Mason: You have to and factor and other players.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: The Colts and Texans both beat AFC teams today as well.

Mason: Both won.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That matters more towards like your – if we all ended – if all four teams ended up 9-8 somehow, then the next thing goes to conference or division play.

Mason: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So say we all tied that somehow too. So then it goes to conference wins.

Zack: I hear what you're saying, but it's double downtime.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But you just don't care.

Zack: and um but I'm betting more.

Mason: Double down.

Zack: $1

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Bet more. Go for it.

Mason: ah Just take a dollar...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Every bet that goes on a different team, it makes all the other teams' odds go up.

Zack: win $250. That's the easiest money ever made. that's the easiest money he ever made

Mason: Just take a dollar out of your pocket and light it on fire. I mean, you're doing the same thing. Just go grab a lighter right now and do that on the podcast. I'm sure it would be very entertaining.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Make a clip.

Zack: made some nice money from a cash out this this afternoon, so I got somebody to spare.

Mason: I shout out.

Zack: Okay, last our last ah category here.

Mason: ah sure um

Zack: We have fraud of the week. And boy, where there are some frauds around the college football landscape. already already listed a couple of them, so I'm going to go with one that's near and dear to my heart.

Zack: um I'm not going to pick Penn State. Fraud for sure. I'm not going pit Texas. ah Neither of whom have won against Power 4 team this season so far.

Zack: um You know who I am going to pick? Your Vanderbilt Commodores.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'm going to

Zack: Mainly because they talk so much trash and they felt like they were just... They they really they really thought they were going to win this game. um They even went up early. They scored the first touchdown. Immediately I texted the boys and I said,

Zack: I'm putting a bet down on Bama. There's no way that Vandy pulls us off. We were right. We got money line at one point. um Bama was in the plus money. We bet them. ah They immediately went and scored in the next possession and all was good in the world.

Zack: Vanderbilt loses as they should because that is their place in this world. ah They had a nice little run. They're probably going to have a nice eight and four season, which is very good for Vanderbilt. Diego Pavia will, will move on and they will go back to three and nine next season.

Zack: I hope they enjoyed their moment in the spotlight. Vanderbilt for out of the week.

Mason: Zach, a pretty good, sharp, better live betting. We talked about it before the podcast, but knows how to bet live games.

Zack: Thank you, Mason.

Mason: Tell you what.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He does.

Zack: I just know a fraud when I see one and Vanderbilt is that.

Zack: Also Florida.

Zack: I bet on Texas to cover the spread at one point. it was getting absurd. Okay. Mason, Friday of the week.

Mason: My fraud of the week is... The Ravens when they don't have Lamar Jackson. I talked up the Ravens as a Super Bowl contender preseason and even talked about how well their defense is.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They were one and three with him.

Mason: This is the defense that let the Texans of all teams, Tim's a huge lover of all things CJ Stroud and Texans. Just kidding. But they let them score 44 points to you at home.

Mason: Letting CJ Stroud dice you up, allowed him to just throw three touchdowns, and now they fall to one and four. ah Derek Henry had like 31 yards, and I don't know how they're just not letting him pulling a Titans and just letting him have like 20 carries during a game.

Mason: ah But yes, you got Cooper Rush in there, but this whole Ravens team as a whole, just not just quarterback, but defense... Offensive line, he can't do much. Just the whole team without Lamar Jackson.

Mason: Garbage. Frauds.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: some Some people are saying that the the Lamar Jackson Ravens experience might be over. Might be time to hang it up. um They're washed.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Let him walk. I think he's due for a new contract after maybe not this year, but maybe next. And John Harbaugh. Is he finally going to get fired? I mean, I think it might just be time for something new up there in Raven land.

Mason: i think I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you're just wanting them to dismantle it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'm not. and i like I like when...

Mason: i think it' I think it's going to take one more than one bad season, and everybody's just going blame it on the Lamar injury, even if this is just a yeah literally done set over they only win like four games or something. and I don't know when Lamar Jackson's going to come back, but if they keep losing and it's already out of reach, which so far this division has not given any reason for it to be out of reach.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Mason: He could come back next week. I don't really know his timetable. Tense. I don't know if you've seen.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They said it was going to be two weeks. um it was a very It was a minor hamstring.

Mason: Okay. Okay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But thing about hamstrings is they don't go away. they're just They always ah kind of linger. um

Mason: Regardless, this team might be cooked already just off of what I've seen today.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. But I just don't trust the Steelers enough to do anything about it.

Mason: You're not wrong.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's that's my only thing.

Mason: Yeah, and the Browns had a close ah close chance of winning, but that wouldn't have done much. If Joe Burrow is on that Bengals team and the Browns were not being the Browns, I would be a little more nervous, but we'll see what happens.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yep

Mason: But just without Lamar, embarrassing game today. Frauds.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They are frauds. I like that one. i almost picked that one. um But I went to college. hadn't done any college yet today, i don't think. No, I did not. I was all up in the NFL.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um So I went to college for my fraud of the week because, and I've been saying this for a while, and I backed off of it for a little bit, up but I should have stood my ground. Arch Manning is the fraud, not of just this week, but maybe of the last decade.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We were promised a college football phenom in Arch Manning, a guy who was going to translate to the greatest college football quarterback ever just because his last name was Manning.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I saw the college or I saw the high school highlights and This kid, if his last name wasn't Manning, would three-star recruit trying to walk on at Texas Tech. probably would have tried to walk on at Texas ah or northern Texas, like a small school.

Mason: um

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He's not that good. He's an okay athlete with a big arm. He's very inaccurate. He can't read defenses. And now he is getting to where he's super skittish in the pocket.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He senses any pressure he wants to take off. This is not the makings of the next coming of Manning football. It's just not. So, fraud of the week, fraud of the season, fraud of the century.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Arch Manning.

Mason: What fraud of the century? Wow. You heard it here first. I think it was just the overall hype of the last name and not being able to, you know, live up to those expectations.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Live up to it.

Mason: um Crazy. I don't think we've ever seen any type of Heisman odds the way we saw ah where we had a the smallest sample size known to mankind and he was favorited going into the season.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, going into the season, he was like plus 600 to win the Heisman.

Mason: and And I don't think we'll ever see anything like that again until maybe once again, another Manning comes, but exactly right.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Peyton's kids are old enough.

Mason: But any type of NFL player that has that last name and they come in, I guess it makes sense to, but you're never going to see that small of a sample size ever again.

Mason: And they end up being the favorites. So,

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And this would be one thing if he was at a smaller school like, i don't know, like a Missouri, a South Carolina, you know even if he went to like a Big Ten school like Minnesota or...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Rutgers, or you know, just like a school like that, maybe you could believe like, well, he is super talented, but he doesn't have the weapons around him. He's at Texas. He's at Texas. his His receivers are five stars. His running backs are five stars. All five of his offensive linemen are going to go play in the NFL. He has a first-round draft pick as his left tackle.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You know, like, they're a loaded team. So there's I give him no excuses to look the way he's looked so far.

Mason: It's reported 5.5 to the estimate ah n ni money he made as of september of twenty twenty five

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, good good good for you there, Arch. I mean, you at least made a lot of money. But ah but that's he should probably just stay in college as long as he can because he's he's not going to be an NFL guy.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But like I said, fraud of the week, fraud of the year, fraud of the century, Arch Manning.

Zack: You love to see it Couldn't happen to a better guy there ah Sorry, i was i had to step out for a few minutes My child was screaming a lot And so my assistance was required there But Arch Manning, I agree i think he's an excellent fraud of the year candidate ah I don't know if there's ever been a more hyped quarterback That has fallen so far below expectations

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I can't think of anybody either.

Zack: Maybe in the NFL, maybe there were some number one overall picks that kind of did, where they just couldn't make the jump to the NFL game.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. Yeah.

Zack: I feel like that's it.

Mason: Jamarcus Wrestling.

Zack: Yeah, there's plenty of examples there. um But when it comes to college, and maybe like college anticipation, maybe Nico's up there too. i don't I mean, it's those guys who are like had the nuclear-type expectations and just never reached anywhere near it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: guys that came in their freshman year, like once once they committed to school, people were like, oh, he's going to change our program for forever. Like, I don't know. i can't think of any hype like that as far as college players have come along.

Zack: Yeah, and there's just, I mean, and talking about 18-year-olds like that is just hard because it's like, it's been kind of, it's it's went around the internet a lot about kind of digging up some of his high school tape against some less than stellar competition. There's so many factors in high school that it's just, if you're just bigger than everyone else you play and if you're playing against like, um we all know there's a difference between playing like 2A ball and playing 6A ball or whatever, and just there's some factors you can't really always control, so.

Zack: I will say yeah Peyton Manning was at his son's game. Well, his son's in eighth grade. So let's do some quick math there. 2032 tank.

Zack: Tank for Peyton's son.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: No way. He's in eighth right now, so that means he would be going.

Zack: Yeah, yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah Yeah, actually, you're right at it.

Zack: 2033 maybe. It depends on how long he spent in college. I feel pretty good about that. Thank for him. let's get Let's get it going. Titans.

Mason: we're already starting to now so just keep it going at this point um i was just gonna i and this is the super ah most super random fact but i would uh tinsley was talking about

Zack: Okay.

Mason: He should just play in college as long as he can. i was curious of who has played in college the most ever. Do y'all know?

Zack: i I mean, there's some guys playing right now who are on the list, like, Diego probably is close to that, I bet. um Hendon Hooker was pretty close to that, I think.

Mason: So this is list of games, not seasons.

Zack: Yeah, it's it's probably somebody in the in the COVID era because they get an extra season of eligibility.

Mason: Well, according to...

Zack: So it was recent.

Mason: I don't know how much we can trust ai because, you know, they're stuck at betting, but according to AI, this is Case Keenum with 66, but Dylan Gabriel with 63 games.

Mason: Pretty crazy stuff.

Zack: That's a lot of college football.

Mason: Okay.

Zack: I like 12 game seasons. That's like five full seasons, six, five and a half ah of like playing every game.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yes.

Zack: Okay. While i while I have both of you here, I had an interesting question. This is a call. This is a NFL question. Since we're at the end And you can If you don't want to hear any Jags Titans talk You can log off now Just end the episode It's good you We're done Tens Would you rather the Jags go 13

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yes.

Zack: and 4 But two of those losses Are to the Titans Or Nine and nine and Eight But you would beat the Titans twice

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um For the 9-8, do we win the division?

Zack: ah Wild card swap.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Okay. 13-4, you said. do we Are we the number one seed in the AFC?

Zack: Yeah.

Zack: ah Probably one or two. i don't know. It depends on how it...

Mason: Well, first round buy. Wow.

Zack: Yeah, I mean, I guess that ah probably...

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i what It's got to be the one seed.

Mason: Oh, he's negotiating with you.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, I would take...

Zack: just have your number, huh? Okay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's fine because I don't have leave in the playoffs because that happened in 99.

Zack: Okay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: The Jaguars lost two games in the regular season. Both take but games, the Titans.

Zack: Yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Then we lost in the AFC Championship game against the Tennessee Titans.

Zack: Hmm.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And you guys went to Super Bowl and lost by one yard.

Zack: Sounds like. What about her?

Mason: Mm.

Zack: At least we were there.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But yeah.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's true. That's true. Congrats. Should have been me

Zack: ah Okay.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Should have been me.

Zack: Interesting. um

Zack: Yeah. I mean, there's a college version of that question too. It's like, It's the Ohio state question really from last year. It's like, would you either win the national championship or beat Michigan?

Zack: And think it's pretty split. Fair base. Some um some people would rather just be Michigan.

Zack: Which is still the funniest. I mean, that that game is still going to be one of the funnier. Just because Ohio State's whole season could be ruined because of Michigan, even if they're undefeated and seem unstoppable and just one game could just ruin it.

Zack: Okay. ah Sorry to derail that. Anybody else got anything? On your hearts, minds, souls, thoughts?

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Jags by three tomorrow in the rain. When you're listening to this, it'll be tonight.

Zack: Jaguar 3.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Jags by three.

Zack: Uh, shout out to your Tennessee tech golden Eagles. Another big win. we're have to cover them at some point in the best of the rest, uh, cover one of their big games.

Zack: There is one coming up. We might cover sneak peek.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: who

Mason: Sneak peek.

Zack: Okay. Uh, well, think that's going to do it for today's episode. We hope you had a great weekend. it's, it's looking a little bit more like fall out there. It's, uh,

Zack: It's feeling um the college season is kind of heating up. We're starting to see some things come into place.

Zack: We're excited. So stay with us right here. Tins has been popping off on socials. Mason, as always, is doing numbers on the internet with his outlandish takes.

Zack: So if you like that kind of stuff, the TikTok is great for it.

Mason: I got keep the streak alive.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's true.

Zack: We will see you back here for a full preview of next week's slate. Big big weekend ahead.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Huge weekend ahead.

Zack: Oregon, Indiana. Red River.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Red River.

Zack: Texas.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Shootout.

Zack: It's cooked.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We can say it. They can't say on TV.

Zack: We can say it.

Next Guy Up Podcast Network: okay

Zack: Somebody flag it, I dare you.

Zack: Okay. And with that, we will see you next time.
