Rook's Awakening and the Arena Mystery

00:02:03
Speaker
I am Casey, your dungeon maestro, and together we will make sweet music.
00:02:19
Speaker
We begin and a cell with an air genasi. Rook, you come to consciousness on straw and stone.
00:02:31
Speaker
This is not where you laid your head down. You do not remember how exactly you got here. And the first thing you notice beyond the smells of dried sweat, cooling blood, and who knows what else in the air,
00:02:48
Speaker
You recognize pain, like fresh as a wasp sting, of tattoos. You look down and see five-sided chain links tattooed around both wrists. Those links are empty.
00:03:02
Speaker
And as soon as you recognize, oh, that's a tattoo, you realize you have the same pain on the back of your head, where your neck meets your skull.
00:03:14
Speaker
You look around and see one familiar face at least.

Understanding the Sladium's Deadly Game

00:03:19
Speaker
But before we go any further, Rook, can you describe yourself? Yeah. Rook is, his full name's Rook Bishop.
00:03:27
Speaker
um He is a monk. He is an air genasi. He has crystal blue eyes. He's light as a feather, so he only weighs 80 pounds. And he has aquamarine blue skin with silver hair.
00:03:41
Speaker
Sure, sure, We will give perception.
00:03:49
Speaker
yeah give me please a perception check of your surround sure sure sure we will give a perception Oh, gorgeous. Make it easy.
00:04:01
Speaker
When you snap awake, you truly snap awake. Your senses are in hyper focus, perhaps because of the confusion about how the hell's you got here.
00:04:13
Speaker
You are in a cell. It has bars. It has very thick walls. The air is warm, like desert warm. And on that roar in the background is not the sound of an ocean shore with waves crashing on dunes.
00:04:31
Speaker
That is a crowd. That is a crowd of thousands that is currently enjoying the show of their lives and possibly yours. There is a wider room about you. there are There is a walkway. There look like troughs of water on the far side of the bars.
00:04:51
Speaker
And you are not the only person in your cell. There is another person, a halfling, not too far away, that comes to consciousness with a little bit of discomfort.

Arena Combat Begins

00:05:05
Speaker
Half-Kiles, you wake on stone. You realize your weapons are gone. Your armor is gone. Anything that you could use to defend yourself, you no longer have You sit up and you recognize that there is a pain around both of your wrists and the back of your head.
00:05:28
Speaker
look down, chain links around both wrists. What is going through Hathkele's head as you wake? Hathkele's is thinking that he had one too many drinks last night. looked A little bit too much.
00:05:43
Speaker
Maybe, maybe for his own good. Hathkele's, can you describe yourself? Yeah, Havkules is a pale-skinned, tatted-up dwarf barbarian, and he has slick black hair, long black beard, and glowing orange eyes, which is not as common as you would see in most dwarf kinds. So his his new Given tattoo looks just kind of like another bad night at the bar, but he is intrigued about it.
00:06:17
Speaker
Intrigued is a healthy attitude. Can you give us, please, a perception check, Half-Kiles, as you come to- Of course. Okay. It is warm. You spot a barred window behind you to the north, and on the far side of those bars, you see broad yellow golden light.
00:06:37
Speaker
It is bright. It is day outside. You realize that the cell you occupy is attached to some kind of arena. That is about all you are able to notice, however, before a rather large gentleman lumbers over in these leather aprons.
00:06:57
Speaker
And he just boom puts this gigantic, large for a medium-sized human hand down to offer you a hand to your feet and says, Good morning. My name is Luke Wald.
00:07:09
Speaker
You may not like where you've woken up, but hey, you're in one piece for now. So that's good news, buddy. Yeah. Oh, ah sure. Listen, Bob, you mind telling me where I am right now?
00:07:22
Speaker
Oh, my little friend, you are in the Sladium. Well, it is a pretty brutal place. We're going to be fighting and killing. Not each other. Not each other. We don't... oh This is not that sort of thing.
00:07:34
Speaker
We're going to be teammates, I think. A lot of the others in the cell have died, so it looks like pretty slim pickings. You look around and there is a woman with bright red hair just seated at the bars and just staring off with a thousand yard stare.
00:07:51
Speaker
She looks like she's been through the ringer. Her clothes are in tatters. She hasn't really done been able to do more than like splash cold water on her face in terms of hygiene for God knows how long.
00:08:03
Speaker
um And that's when you hear the clink clank of key rings jostling around on a larger band held by Livia.
00:08:14
Speaker
This woman in a toga with her hair in a Greco-Roman ponytail that is up She's aging gracefully through her 50s, and she is strolling in your directions as she says, Ah, children, welcome back to the land of the living. I hope you're in good spirits.
00:08:36
Speaker
It's going to be a full day. Yeah, what do you mean by that? You, my little halfling friend, are in for the fight of your life, as is the monk on the straw.
00:08:51
Speaker
Don't worry, you won't be going in completely blind. Lugrot, you're going to be ah assisting these two fellows today. I trust you're alright with that. And the big guy shrugs and says, okie dokie, I've been there before.
00:09:08
Speaker
And like, he shrugs good naturedly. He does not look like he has a great abundance of choice in the matter. There is a gong peel from outside and the crowd goes absolutely nuts.
00:09:22
Speaker
as double doors on the far side of your cell open and a trio of humanoids pass over a row of glowing sigils.
00:09:34
Speaker
Rook, because of that amazing perception you tracked, you are able to spot that as they cross that first row of sigils, there is just a faint glow about their wrists as they come in limping, tired, bloodied,
00:09:49
Speaker
And these two women go to a weapons rack and they put down what they've been carrying. They look exhausted. They're covered in sweat and grime and blood, hopefully not theirs.
00:10:01
Speaker
And they pass again over the second row of sigils. And there is another glow as they go to a trough. They splash some water on.
00:10:13
Speaker
and this guard holds open the gate for them. They pass into a cell opposite yours and just fall to their knees in front of this wide silver platter that is covered in mouthwatering

Sponsors and Arena Dynamics

00:10:27
Speaker
food.
00:10:28
Speaker
There are pitchers of rich-smelling wine, and these women without any kind of... pretense just start stuffing their faces. They look exhausted and starving. Livia, the woman on the far side of the bars, says, the game of the day is quite simple.
00:10:46
Speaker
Rescue the damsel in the maze of the minotaur. But I don't think that's going to be too much of a challenge for you to follow, is it? And when she says rescue the maiden, the woman in the cell with you, her eyes go wide.
00:11:03
Speaker
And the old woman just did a come hither gesture with one slender finger and says, Oh, feather, come hither. And she just sobbing.
00:11:15
Speaker
don't, I don't want to. And says, you don't have a choice, my darling, darling. And this woman comes and the guard opens the gate for her. There are no locks.
00:11:28
Speaker
And she just steps out of it. and says, oh poor sweet thing, these fellows look able-bodied enough, they might be able to rescue you after all, at least before time runs out.
00:11:41
Speaker
Now gentlemen, the rules here are rather simple. She says the rules are rather simple, and the third fighter from the outside who has been hesitating, he's been holding on to this morning star in his fists, screams, charging for Livia with the morning star raised over his head.
00:12:04
Speaker
and the second that he passes over the interior row of sigils with that weapon in his hand, there is a pop and the back of his head explodes. He slides painfully, brutally, fatally into the floor. Blood just starts spilling out across the hardwood and Madame Livia just sidesteps so she doesn't get fresh blood on her sandals and says, well, there are the rules.
00:12:33
Speaker
Obedience suits you and disobedience. Well, I think you gather the gist. The girl, Fither, the guard escorts her out, a pair of doors on the far side and they again with no sign of her resigned to whatever fate awaits her.
00:12:55
Speaker
Madame Livia turns to you and says, don't worry, darlings. We're not so cruel as to throw you out without any chance whatsoever. yeah You'll have the opportunities to impress the sponsors.
00:13:11
Speaker
And as she says that, the doors, the double doors to your west open. And through the doors is a tabaxi.
00:13:24
Speaker
a cat kind, this woman in pink fur and purple trim, strolls through the double doors looking like she owns the place and just comes to a stop and appraises the two of you.
00:13:40
Speaker
And Lu Gua just sort of gives her an absent wave And beyond her, next through the doors are a pair of women. They look nigh-identical.
00:13:51
Speaker
they are not They are not identical twins, but perhaps fraternal. And in very fine togas, they stroll up. They keep a couple of feet between them and Lady Playstring.
00:14:04
Speaker
um And they likewise have their eyes on the two of you, appraising you like meat at a market. and last through the doors rolls an automaton on brass and bronze wheels.
00:14:23
Speaker
He comes to a stop equidistant from the other two, and these warm orange glowing glass bulbs for eyes just iris and blink.
00:14:36
Speaker
Half-Kiles. Rook, of these sponsors, do any of them make an impression? Do you try to catch their eye?
00:14:47
Speaker
I'm going to look over to Hathkelees and be in, and just kind of look her, it's like, the twins are looking at you, Hathkelees, give them a big ol' flex for me. All right, you know, whatever you say is what the ladies love.
00:15:01
Speaker
And I'm going to, uh, Hefkiles is going to flex, uh, just, you know, his little dwarf muscles as much as he can until, you know, the veins are protruding from his arms and he's turning blood red in the face.
00:15:14
Speaker
Amazing. Give us a performance check, my friend. I can take it. Awesome, amazing, 15, we'll definitely take it. The Ardrum sisters trade looks and they raise an eyebrow of interest and say, well, well, well, half-Kiles, was it?
00:15:32
Speaker
We'll be watching your career with great interest. Rook, does the cat kind or the automaton, do either of these sponsors catch your eye or are you playing it cool?
00:15:44
Speaker
I think Rook's just going to be meditating, but you gotta you're going to see him meditate, but he's almost floating on air just to impress him, impress the people around him. be like, oh, he's lighter on the foot.
00:15:59
Speaker
And then I'm going to do a shadow step up to the bars as close as I can without them noticing. Mm-hmm. In addition to violence, casting magic on the far side of those cities is going to prove... Not allowed. Okay. Sorry. I didn't know if those restricted magic either. Apologies. That's fine.
00:16:21
Speaker
No, you're totally good. You sort of managed to hover a little bit, but there's a buzz, like a whining in your ears, look like distraction. and you try to shadow step, and it's like running into a door that you thought was going to open, but didn't, and you just sort of like fall back half step. Does my feature with levitate, is that still magical

Overcoming Arena Challenges

00:16:43
Speaker
on that, or is it just a feat that I have since I'm an air genazi?
00:16:47
Speaker
You're not going to be in here very long. I'd say you have the, you you can hover roughly a foot off the ground without breaking a sweat or tripping any sort of things. That'll be fine. I'll just sit there and meditate a foot above the air and not pay attention to the rest of them.
00:17:02
Speaker
Okay. Amazing. Odds or evens? um Let's go odds. Okay. So one of them is a cat and cats are aloof. and that is evens and you chose odds.
00:17:14
Speaker
The set of sponsors, having seen what's available today, move on and head on out. Half-Kiles, the Ardrums give you a little finger wave and say, good luck, as they trail after the cat lady watching her every move. Oh, Half-Kiles always.
00:17:36
Speaker
Getting in with the ladies. Oh, what can I say, bruv? It's... it's my superpower. Well, uh, it's not your superpower, I'm sorry. That's okay.
00:17:47
Speaker
I think I've got enough toll for everybody. There is a another gong and the crowd outside goes nuts. Not with joy, but anticipation.
00:17:58
Speaker
Livia straightens up a little taller and says, now, now, children, don't keep them waiting. Master Kozev has a very short attention span and the guard opens the gate. There is no lock as Luquad Zibwad steps out, splashes some cold water on his face and steps across the first row of sigils into the armory.
00:18:25
Speaker
Okay. He gives you a follow me gesture as you see him start to prepare for battle. Okay. As you pass over the first row of sigils, there is just a slight tingling around your wrists and the back of your head as the manacles magically loosen a little bit. Here in the armory, you see secondhand weapons that have been used again and again and again and again.
00:18:53
Speaker
Would you be so kind as to give us an investigation check for anything more complex than a simple melee weapon? Halfcules going to be a two. He just needs his hands.
00:19:08
Speaker
Let's see, investigation. It's the same rule. 12. Sadly, Half-Kiles, you do not find anything in terms of armor and weapons. You have access to some daggers and battle axe or two.
00:19:24
Speaker
That is about it, unless you have your heart set on a short sword. Probably going to go for the battle axe. this is ah this is just a short This is just a regular mundane battleaxe, not a greataxe.
00:19:35
Speaker
Okay, that's fine. Luguard goes in front of a wooden cabinet and holds up his wrist. His tattoos are not all empty. Some are filled with symbols.
00:19:45
Speaker
And he waves his wrist in front of the cabinet. It unlocks and he pulls free a javelin. the entire tip of which is stained a dried greenish brown.
00:19:56
Speaker
And he says, oh, there's a story behind that one, buddy. If you survive, maybe I'll tell it to you later or over dinner. Rook, with a 12, your prospects are not greatly better, but you are able to find a rudimentary melee weapon, if you are so inclined.
00:20:13
Speaker
If I could find, like, a half-broken spear of some kind, that would be fine. With a 12, you do find like quarterstaff. As far as like a spear is concerned, something like that is going to be findable i in the arena. Okay, quarterstaffs works too.
00:20:31
Speaker
As the crowd gets louder, Lugwald approaches the inner line of sigils. There is a flash on the far side of doors with a single rectangle of visible light outside with bars in the way, and the light from without changes color ever so slightly.
00:20:52
Speaker
Since you fine gentlemen have predetermined where you are fighting, can one of you please simply pick a number between one and five Three. ah Such a half-killing answer.
00:21:04
Speaker
three Three. You would be truly surprised just how many people pick three. Smacked out of the five. Well done.
00:21:15
Speaker
Incredible. The three of us step out through these double doors crossing over the sigils into a high-walled arena.
00:21:28
Speaker
You look directly in front of you and see more walls, easily 10 feet high, that limit your visibility of what is on the far side. In terms of logistics, things that are not in your line of sight will not be visible on the map until you get closer.
00:21:44
Speaker
In the meantime, as you step out onto the labyrinth, a holographic head, a greater illusion...
00:21:58
Speaker
manifests over the arena proper. It is huge and is enchanted in such a way that everyone who sees it thinks it is speaking to them.
00:22:11
Speaker
Ladies and gentlethings, beneficent sponsors, lovers of carnage, welcome to the crucible combat.
00:22:23
Speaker
The hour of reckoning is upon us, and the sands of the arena thirst once more for the sweet nectar of sacrifice.
00:22:34
Speaker
Why, the very air crackles with dissip anticipation, and the sense of fear and eagerness mingle in a headache concoction.

Battle's End and Future Adventures

00:22:50
Speaker
The warriors stand ready, their eyes aglead with the promise of glory and the shame of Viren's defeat.
00:23:01
Speaker
Their hearts apound like war drums, echoing the fervor of you, the beloved crown! It is for you, my sweet knight.
00:23:13
Speaker
And of course our sponsors, we wish to thank the beneficent Ardram Sisters for their continued interest in in the games, along with Lady PlayStream.
00:23:24
Speaker
She does so love to play with her food. forget And finally, for the pleasure and enjoyment of his own hive,
00:23:38
Speaker
Lord slayer of men and breaker of hope, Koseth kills! The time has come to bear witness to the spectacle of survival, of cunning, and raw honoraddotal rate of power.
00:23:57
Speaker
Let the weak tremble, let the strong rejoice, and let the blood flow! The arena hungers, its appetite will be fed, and commence the slay hand!
00:24:15
Speaker
Alright, gentlemen, if you would be so kind as to give us a perception check. Okay, so, Hathcules, it may be because of the position of the sun getting in your eye, it may be the fact that you don't break four feet, you cannot see a great deal about you above the walls of this maze.
00:24:36
Speaker
Rook is not so unfortunate. As you scan from left to right, you realize that you are in a wider arena. At every corner there are towers, and in those towers are slats through which you can see silhouettes of someone watching.
00:24:53
Speaker
that At that point, Lugwad gives a thumb to them and says, they make sure we stay on the move. They don't like us to linger too long and put on a good show, you know?
00:25:05
Speaker
It's okay. And with that 21 rook, you are able to see in the distance at the northmost corner of the maze of the arena a wider...
00:25:18
Speaker
dais and there are three boxes for the automaton, the ardrums, and Lady Playstring, and above them, on his own master suite level, is Kozif Kills, this large, jaded, barrel-chested man who looks like a a gladiator himself, though of advancing years, who is just watching for his own entertainment.
00:25:46
Speaker
Rook, with a 21, you also hear the sound of footsteps approaching not far off. You are not going to be alone for long.
00:25:58
Speaker
What does Rook do? He's going to, like, look to to Lou, and he's like, uh, can I call you Lou? ah Okay. ah So, you say we have to move along.
00:26:11
Speaker
yes. So you just follow us along, and and we just kind of our way through the the boxes in front of us, and… Yes. We just… whatever happens, happens.
00:26:23
Speaker
Whatever happens, happens, but try not to die. Okay, okay. And if we can… If we can save Feather, that would be nice. she She sings rather sweetly sometimes when she's not scared out of her face. Ah, okay.
00:26:37
Speaker
Siren. Got it. Okay. got gotta get Gotta get her. Achilles, you get the girl. um i have no interest in them, so... Look, I'm not gonna lie to you. i can't see a thing right now. Can you to... Put me on your shoulders. Right now. I don't think I can lift you.
00:26:56
Speaker
Rook's gonna, is like, alright guys, we gotta, I guess we gotta to keep moving. So he's just gonna go to the first T in the maze. Now are we supposed to see the whole pent, are we supposed to see the whole pentagon? or That's what, that's part of what the check was for, just to give you your perspective.
00:27:14
Speaker
gotcha As new, as you get past various rings and get new line of sight, that is when the occupants of said You get ah visible to you with the twenty one this helps ensure that you are not immediately taken by surprise as a trio nasty looking things approach can i please from the three of you get an initiative you get it you get advantage so hundred twenty one
00:27:45
Speaker
Oh good, I'm glad. You guys are doing great so far. Alright, Rook, you are up. haven't died yet. And Halfkeles is on deck. What are you doing, Rook? Rook is going to try and take a peek around the corner and see what... He's going to do a quick left and right, and then then a shadow step back.
00:28:09
Speaker
Okay. Yeah, you step out into the next ring and immediately spot three hobgoblins, a trio of them waiting in the next row off to the right and off to the left. Give me, please, an investigation check. 18. Nice.
00:28:31
Speaker
Beautiful. For a moment, you think your eyes may be deceiving you, but, uh, there is, in fact, something translucent at the far end of that ring. It happens to be a cube, it it happens to be gelatinous, and it is very slow.
00:28:48
Speaker
I think when I step back, I'm gonna, like, huddle up with them, and then I'll be like, there's a piece of jello. Hapkules, you can't eat the piece of jello, but there's a piece of jello coming our way, and then there's some hobgoblins.
00:29:01
Speaker
Alright, what are we waiting Uh, Lou, what do you- have you dealt with any of these creatures? Anything we should expect out of the Jell-O monster and... and the hobgoblins that we normally don't encounter in the real world?
00:29:16
Speaker
Oh, this is your first hobgoblins? Well, they're going to try and kill you with bladed weapons or possibly hit you with volleys of arrows, so, you know, keep your head on a swivel, okay buddy?
00:29:29
Speaker
Okay, all right. That's good enough for me. Hapkiles, if you want to run up and do you do what you do best with your fists, like I do, but, you know, you got your axe.
00:29:41
Speaker
Yeah, i was about to say, I have a weapon. You know, you were really deciding back there in armory. You were really, really impatient with what you were choosing. Send lots weapons, all right. Got overwhelmed, I get you, all right.
00:29:55
Speaker
Hapkiles... I think he is going to, so since he is still a level three warlock, I am going to go ahead and put a level one abjuration of mage armor on myself. You absolutely Since I wasn't able to find any armor in the... You absolutely can.
00:30:15
Speaker
Wonderful. Okay, so I'm going to do that. That's going to be my primary action. Amazing. Since it's a feat or a trait, that that shouldn't prevent you from casting a cantrip or a spell with the rest of your turn.
00:30:28
Speaker
Okay, and then I'm gonna step out, I guess move me if you can move me a little bit forward so I can see these hobgoblins real quick. Okay, I'll move you there.
00:30:40
Speaker
Yep, and I am going to cast Scorching Ray on these three hobgoblins. Love to see it. 17 to hit.
00:30:51
Speaker
No, unfortunately, 17 does not hit. wow You fire a scorching ray at the three of them, and as one, they the two further away, and the one that's closer, just dips their head as the ray passes between them, and suddenly you realize this is not their first rodeo either.
00:31:15
Speaker
Since it is a bonus action, i will go ahead and rage. Lovely. Are you doing anything else with your turn besides raging?
00:31:26
Speaker
How much movement do I have left? Probably only. 5, 10, so... I have 40 movement, so have 30 movement left. I'll move back and I'll look at them and I'll go... All right, good news. ah did you did Did you do good?
00:31:43
Speaker
I missed. Typical. Bad news is since I missed. No, that's not good news either. All right, listen. We've got a very short amount of time to get this done.
00:31:56
Speaker
So the lovely thing about these rounds is they're roughly six seconds each. So as you hurriedly start to speak with them, the 3-0 race down the hall and are going to fire.
00:32:10
Speaker
So one, two, three. The first is going for Half-Kiles, the second is shooting for Lugrod, the third is shooting for the Genasi. Oh, bugger. Okay, so yes, it looks like the first and the third are hits with a dirty 20 and a 19, respectively, as the two of you each take five points of piercing damage from an arrow, courtesy of the Hobgoblins.
00:32:36
Speaker
The last of their movement, they're going to move back five feet. Luguard is going to step forward and says, it helps to do things like this. And he's going to stab one with his spear, or at least attempt to.
00:32:50
Speaker
That is a miss. And that is a crit. Would you look at that? Lovely multi-attack to start off the day as he jabs with this javelin once and the thing misses and then...
00:33:04
Speaker
jabs the spear in again and the thing cries out as it takes points of piercing and poison between the two. After Lugwald, the gelatinous cube advances five feet down the hall, and that is literally all it does. Rook is going to approach them, he is going to hit with a quarterstaff.
00:33:32
Speaker
Beautiful. and then, let me see if that hits. Rolled a nine plus seven, so that would be a 16 to hit, which misses, I would believe.
00:33:43
Speaker
Unfortunately, yes, a 16 is a miss. Then I'm going to spend a key point and do, because I'll do Fury of the Blows. Beautiful. I'm going to make two unarmed attacks as a bonus action.
00:33:55
Speaker
Wonderful. And they both missed. Dang, I'm not doing well on that. Which brings us to the dwarf, followed by the baddies. What are you doing, Hathkelees? think Hathcules wants to get this position where he is closer to this third hobgoblin right here.
00:34:11
Speaker
and Just as a warning, that is going to provoke opportunity. Exactly. From this handsome fella in front. That's fine. All right. So he is going to slash at you with a long sword oof and you take six points of slashing damage as you slip past him.
00:34:32
Speaker
So I'm going to get where I'm at, and I am going to, since I am in rage, I believe I get two primary actions, correct? You get attack twice.
00:34:43
Speaker
So the first attack is just going to be a regular melee attack with the hand axe. Okay. Yep. All right. Go ahead and roll that one. That is a 22. Gorgeous. Seven damage.
00:34:56
Speaker
Seven damage. And then again. Awesome. And now I'm not going to attack with the hand axe the second attack. I'm going to use my Eldritch Blast to hopefully hit that guy. And then if it hits, I will tell you what it does. Beautiful.
00:35:10
Speaker
Yep. That is a hit. Awesome. Okay, so with my Eldritch Invocations, I have an Agonizing Blast, which I believe it's already added on to the damage, but also I have a Repelling Blast, so it will knock that creature back 10 feet.
00:35:26
Speaker
So hopefully my idea was to knock it back into its cohort and maybe see what happens to come of that. Yeah. Make him be prone.
00:35:36
Speaker
Beautiful. So you knock the first, the closest one back 10 feet and he hits the hobgoblin behind him who staggers back another five.
00:35:49
Speaker
Beautiful. Since they did not move under their own power, they don't trip anyone's attack of opportunity. Beautiful. Are you doing anything else, Haftyles? I think I'm just going to move back.
00:36:00
Speaker
Okay. Beautiful. i'm going to move back a little bit. yeah These two hobgoblins here in melee range of Lugwad are going to slashy slashy at him with their long swords.
00:36:12
Speaker
Bedlau, first one. Well, they... So it is within five feet of an ally, and that ally is not incapacitated. So the first one is still a miss, but the second one is a hit that does a little extra damage on Lugwad.
00:36:27
Speaker
Lugwald takes a slash across the chest and cries out, oh, that's not okay. The good news is, half-killes, both of the hobgoblins that you have walloped are already bloodied.
00:36:43
Speaker
Meanwhile, this one that is right in front of Rook is also going to make a slash with his longsword. Does a 16 hit? Yes, it does. That is a another seven points of damage from the longsword.
00:36:59
Speaker
Lugwald is up and the cube is after him. He is going to make a stab at the furthest away hobgoblin and gives a shout to Half-Kiles like, you're doing great work. I really like what you do.
00:37:13
Speaker
As he makes his stabbing, gadow, that is a hit. The nearest hobgoblin takes 10 lovely points of dud-da-da damage. Beautiful.
00:37:25
Speaker
Which brings us to the cube of gelatin, which splorches closer another five feet. Rook. Rook is going to attack with his quarterstaff.
00:37:36
Speaker
Beautiful. Yep. And we'll take that all day. That's going to be one d eight of damage. That's going to be the roll, so 4 damage. Rook has laid a wallet with the quarterstaff. What is Half-Kiles Humberfoot up to?
00:37:55
Speaker
Uh, Hefkules sees those two hobgoblin doofuses are still in a line, so he is going to use, once again, another Eldritch Blast to try to hit that first one.
00:38:07
Speaker
Beautiful. Kind of do the same premise of what but he was doing last time. Mm-hmm. Second curse, same as the first. Oh, that's a gorgeous hit. I'll try to sling them back and see where they land, and then we'll kind of decide where to go from there.
00:38:22
Speaker
All right. the Eldritch Blast, it's the closest one for eight points of force damage. He is incredibly bloodied and blasted.
00:38:34
Speaker
And the one behind him is likewise very much like on their last legs. What you doing, friend? Let me ask this. How far are they knocked back since that 10 foot throw on the Eldritch Blast?
00:38:48
Speaker
Since the repelling blast is a sub feat of that. So repelling blast, you said? Yes, sir. that That would be, it's an Eldritch invocation kind of attack onto Eldritch blast itself. You can push the creature up to 10 feet away. Beautiful. Okay. The first one is knocked into the second.
00:39:07
Speaker
They are pushed back. and the last of them staggers back an extra step and just starts to hiss and shriek as he has been pushed against the cube of gelatin.
00:39:19
Speaker
um Lukewald turns to you and gives you a blood sticky thumbs up. Awesome. Awesome. Fantastic, my friend. um So I will run to the closest one to, can I just call him Lou?
00:39:33
Speaker
Yeah. I think we've, yeah. We're going to go to Lou and I am going to use my hand axe and try to hit that one right there. Beautiful.
00:39:44
Speaker
the The hardy boy that's still in in good shape. Yes. Beautiful. Yes. I'm going to try to wallop him. That is a hit. Okay. you make that happen and really just into the hobgoblin, it turns and hits.
00:40:03
Speaker
kisses at you. You are about to get a lesson in flanking as this handsome devil is going to go ahead and eat an attack of opportunity from Rook. Can you go ahead and give us an attack if you so choose? 25 to hit.
00:40:21
Speaker
okay yeah. You smack him and he is bloodied. Like, I don't think you actually surprise him. He was not expecting to get hit that hard. The hobgoblin behind Halfkiles takes a step closer furious at being repelled twice as this has gone on and in a flank the hobgoblin has advantage on his attack which he is going to give 25 as a crit as you take 10 points of slashing from him and the fellow behind who is really quite bloodied and not at all happy is going to make a slash at Lugwald
00:41:00
Speaker
Lugwald once again cries out in pain as he takes a slice from longsword. That is them. This fellow here is stuck to the gelatinous cube behind him. he takes acid damage. Oh, no.
00:41:15
Speaker
Half-Kiles, you have just been attacked from behind when there is a... You turn around and see the hobgoblin that you yourself pushed into the loving sticky acidic embrace dissolves against the gelatinous cube.
00:41:32
Speaker
Would you please give us a performance check? Of course. Nice! You have rendered first blood. And the crowd is is this is up for it. they're not They're not like, you know, on their feet cheering or anything.
00:41:47
Speaker
But nevertheless, Heil Vox, the holographic announcer, materializes over the crowd and says, Talk about acidic indigestion.
00:41:59
Speaker
and then pops into nothingness as the first as died. Beautifully done. Lugwald is going to jab at this one here with his spear.
00:42:12
Speaker
Get away! That is a hit. as he wallops this thing for 10 with the spear. Okay. The gelatinous cube just splorches closer, it just enveloping the ex-obgoblin.
00:42:30
Speaker
Rook, you are up and half kill easy. You are next. What you doing, Rook? Rook is going to approach, that way we have advantage on this next one, and he's just gonna do some unarmed strikes. Beautiful.
00:42:44
Speaker
Twice. That is a miss, that is a miss. That's a miss. Dang. Did spend another key point that? Well, you didn't roll at advantage, though. You just rolled once. Oh, I didn't. That's right, yeah. So if we take both of those as the... Nope. Oh,
00:42:58
Speaker
Jesus. ohe Poor Adam. And then for the second one. Jesus Christ.
00:43:09
Speaker
Welcome to a lesson in nat 1's. You rolled two of them back to back. You hit the thing with your bo staff and it hits it so hard with its strong sword to deflect, the quarter staff is actually knocked from your hand and lands here.
00:43:31
Speaker
That one's hurt. They hurt the storyteller as well. But that is what has happened. i can I can use my fists. Don't worry. Please use your fists. I can use my fists. I'm going to use a key point and cast darkness. Okay.
00:43:45
Speaker
I will cast it on the hobgoblin in between. So basically the one that we were attacking, I'll cast it on him. Beautiful. For the duration, magical darkness spreads within and fills a 15-foot radius.
00:43:58
Speaker
So, yeah, this guy is completely blind and will be attacking at disadvantage if he attacks at all. And that'll end my turn, I believe. Beautiful. Rook, give us, um, Half-Kiles, you have just been enveloped in complete darkness with a batty to the back of you, batty to the front, and stuck in the middle with two helpful people. Hello.
00:44:19
Speaker
What you doing, Half-Kiles? Okay, so I know that the bad guy to the left of me, kind of closest to the cube, I know the general sense of direction he is in, correct? Mm-hmm.
00:44:32
Speaker
Okay, I'm going to roll, once again, Eldritch Blast, but I want to see if it hits, because I've been wanting to get this quip in. I've been itching for it. Roll at disadvantage because you're blind. Yeah, unfortunately that is a miss with the Eldritch Blast. Fire and there is a plong as it hits something, but it was not it did not hit the hopcobble.
00:44:51
Speaker
And then i am going to, I'm just gonna try to swing my axe and hit the hobgoblin behind me. Roll twice for for a disadvantage. You swing and ooh, yeah, unfortunately you're at disadvantage. Sorry, man.
00:45:06
Speaker
Yes, you swing and swish and you're nothing good. I'm gonna stay put. So the two hobgoblins who are bloodied and blinded gonna be giving us wisdom saves.
00:45:18
Speaker
The first is behind you and fails. The second fails. So the first one screams. This is about whether or not they have the nerve to stick around.
00:45:29
Speaker
Oh, gotcha. Yeah, this is a subjective DM thing. It's shenanigating, but we love it. This one races out of the darkness the only direction it can and runs directly into a gelatinous cube, which absorbs him wholly, considering how little health he has left.
00:45:45
Speaker
That is all he's got. This one runs off in the other direction, and as he does so, he gives not one, but three attacks of opportunity. Half-Kiles, Rook, would you please both give us attacks of opportunity at disadvantage because you are swinging in the dark?
00:46:01
Speaker
A-two. Sure. And a 17, nothing there. And then... Ooh, I did crit. You did crit. Oh! Very nice. The second one is a Beautiful.
00:46:14
Speaker
Told you my fists. Beautiful. Rook, would you paint us a picture as you batter this hobgoblin to death? Rook casts a darkness, and you just see their eyes. i imagine their eyes just go black. like pupils and everything. And he runs up and he can see him through there. And as he runs away, he trips and bursts and then he starts to do like a barrel roll and then he gets up on top of him and just gives him the little fight club, like never ending punches. The curb stop. And he goes night night and just gives one final beautiful ba punch.
00:46:48
Speaker
Lights out. Give us a performance check, please. Oh, no. Give a nat 1 of a performance as you beat this man to death.
00:47:02
Speaker
I'm surprised I haven't taken a vow of silence with my charisma being 8. There is such a tumult of boos from the audience, like, and then a hologram of several brutal attacks from this veteran hobgoblin.
00:47:18
Speaker
are played over some sweet music as they recap his career. Apparently you have just slain something of a minor celebrity here as Heil materializes with a translucent tear in his eye and says, Oh, Arnfargo, gone, but not forgotten.
00:47:38
Speaker
And he pops into nothingness. can can i give a Can I give a bow as this is happening? Just just as, oh I'm not dealing with this. just Just bowing, like, whatever.
00:47:52
Speaker
And that is all the Hobgoblins wrote. I've played into these games. Beautiful. Technically, you are still in combat. There is a gelatinous cube cubing its way closer, but you are under no obligation to stick around.
00:48:08
Speaker
Can I roll it investigation to see if there's anything in the cube that would be of use? Yes, you can. You see nothing but a slowly dissolving hobgoblin. Didn't know if anything magical was in there. I always check my bases. Always check. Gotta love it. Rook's gonna look at Hacules like, you did good, kid. You did good. And he's like, let's get out of here.
00:48:33
Speaker
Yeah, better than you. You didn't see me beat the guy to pulp. He's like, orange juice now. No, but I hurt the crowd. I forget the crowd.
00:48:44
Speaker
Poor Ogfogel. He gave as good as he got most of the time. He's gonna pick up his quarterstaff and I'm assuming he's just gonna continue walking down the other way away from the gelatinous cube. Amazing. And he's like, follow the sound of my voice.
00:48:58
Speaker
Amazing. Just follow it. Okey dokey. What is Hathkelees doing? Are you starting to fight a cube are you moving on with cube? Oh, no, no, no. I mean, Hathkelees isn't the smartest dwarf on the block, but he is. He is like, yeah, it doesn't look like a good time in there. All right, I'm going to follow you guys.
00:49:19
Speaker
Amazing. And he's going to kind of just follow, kind of just watching the cube as it kind of slugs its way. Amazing. Okay, yeah. Lugwald is going to join you.
00:49:30
Speaker
He says, come on, this way. It's very slow-pokey. Hopefully we can evade it. Rook, you turn the corner and see a flat grill in the ground in front of you.
00:49:44
Speaker
And Lugwald says, oh, hold up, hold. Be careful. I think that's a fire pit. Okay, good call, Lou. I can feel the heat coming off of it.
00:49:58
Speaker
ah And he's gonna he's just gonna shadow step over it. Oh, slick!
00:50:07
Speaker
He goes, I don't know about you guys, but I can just do this, and he kind of just dimension doors himself over it.
00:50:14
Speaker
All you see is like a darkness happening and then he just snaps. And then he snaps back over to the other side and is like, hey. Which square do you land on, friend? I'm going land on that corner.
00:50:27
Speaker
Beautiful. Well, that gets you across. Half-Kiles, Luqua steps closer to this thing and starts tilting his head at it left and right. What is Half-Kiles doing?
00:50:38
Speaker
Half-Kiles is going to look at Lu and say, lou you think you could throw me I could try. Oh, sorry. Okay, you know what? let Let's hold off on that.
00:50:50
Speaker
And Havkiles is just going to misty step across and teleport. I'm just curious if he can grab Lou at the same time.
00:51:01
Speaker
I think he's too big. Yeah, I think he's he's a he's a giant. He's a lo- he's he is a- He's a biggin. He's like he's about- he's almost seven feet tall. So he's like the large side of medium. Good gracious.
00:51:12
Speaker
Rook's gonna look over he's like, ah, I see you too have things. Yeah, but now I'm out of things. What about if we can yell Lou to use, since we're as close as we are to the fire pit, is it more like a cover with fire coming out or is it more of an actual pit? a wall of fire. So, what you see is an open grate, as if the very top of an open barbecue grill was at ground level.
00:51:46
Speaker
As you literally teleported across it, you have not seen the flames grow higher than just, like, a foot off the ground. Lugwald takes a step closer, you hear a click, and suddenly the flames shoot up to 10 feet high, and he stops and stands where he is and just waits.
00:52:06
Speaker
Like you see him prepping himself, he says, okay, get the timing lights, the timing, and he is going to try and leap across with the right timing and fail.
00:52:18
Speaker
He is going to jump, tuck and roll, and take fire damage on the way. Because he did not roll so great. He is slow roasted to the tune of 18 points. Well, flash roasted because he jumped 18 points of fire damage Roast him leaving him with that much health left. all alright Rook's gonna cast cure wounds on Lou and then he gets 1d8 plus 1d8 plus my wisdom modifier, which is six.
00:52:50
Speaker
So 12. Yay. Thank you so much. He turns to you and blinks and and says, oh, thank you. I really appreciate it, but you should save some of those for yourselves.
00:53:03
Speaker
don't Don't worry about it, big guy. I got you. So, for showing teamwork and deliberately helping someone else instead of yourself, please take DM's Inspiration. This will allow you to roll at advantage one time, whether it is a skill check, whether it is a save, whether it is an attack roll. The only thing you cannot use it for is to save a crappy roll.
00:53:24
Speaker
Like, if you just rolled a two and said, ah, darn, I meant to do the Inspiration, That is what it cannot do. They do not stack, so you can only have one at a time, but you just earned your first one. Kudos to Yudos.
00:53:36
Speaker
Gold badge. Comes across my sash.
00:53:41
Speaker
Teamwork. I got it. Amazing. Sladium Scout right here for you. Earn my merit badge. Incredible. You have surpassed the first fire pit. Well done.
00:53:55
Speaker
Where do you go from here? We need to see what this is, but it's probably cursed. Let's move forward. Yeah. Just just general forward. We'll take a general forward up until the next entrance on the right there. Okay. So like up up this way.
00:54:10
Speaker
Would you give me please a perception check? Beautiful. So Rook, as you are getting closer, your senses are still incredibly sharp, which is why you're not taken by surprise. You have heard someone waiting and bouncing on their feet.
00:54:26
Speaker
As this person comes out, you see a large man, a medium size, but pretty tall for a humanoid with bare skin atop his head, shouting like a madman.
00:54:37
Speaker
He's gonna come kill you. Oh, really? I eat guys like you for breakfast. Okay. Fortunately, he is not quite that alert. Rook, you are first and half-Kiles, you are after him.
00:54:53
Speaker
as this berserker stands ready to attack. What you doing friend? Rook is going to do some unarmed strikes. Beautiful. That is a hit. All right. Yep.
00:55:05
Speaker
And the next one. And then going to cast fury of blows to cast two more. oh amazing. That's a bonus action. Hit. Hit. Oh my god. You just lay into him for another 17 points of damage. That's incredible. That leaves him here. He is bloodied before he has even drawn breath. That's incredible. Half-Kiles, whatcha doing?
00:55:27
Speaker
Half-Kiles is going to try to do a grapple unarmed strike on this gentleman. Oh my. So he's going to go for the legs, obviously. Okay. You go ahead and try and give him that grapple.
00:55:43
Speaker
That is a failure. Not going happen. He's just hugging his leg. there You're still in rage. All right, one leg's not good enough. And he's going to try to go for the other leg and grab him.
00:55:55
Speaker
Yeah, there we go. i don't know whether you thought this out or not, because now you have simply wrapped your arms around the thigh of someone who still has an axe in their hand that is going to try and bring it down upon you.
00:56:10
Speaker
Lugwad is going to do-si-do with you there and is going to say, leave my little friends alone. Your bear skin looks takey and fail.
00:56:22
Speaker
He jabs and fails and hits a nat one. The berserker like just punches him back and he accidentally slashes his own hand with the spear. So Lugwad takes a point of damage off of his own spear because Nat one's hurt me too.
00:56:38
Speaker
The Berserker looking down at the dwarf that is clinging to his thigh is going to attack you. He is going to trigger Reckless, which means he has advantage on his melee attack rolls during this turn.
00:56:53
Speaker
But the good news is attack rolls against it will have advantage until the start of its next round. It is going to attack and fail, and he is still grappled. Rook, you are up and have advantage on him.
00:57:06
Speaker
We're going to do what I do best, and that's punching. Yay! So we're going to punch and punch. All right. And then as a bonus action, I'm going to do sl flurry of blows.
00:57:21
Speaker
Mm-hmm. and I critted. Oh my god Do I have to continue? Is he dead? You do have to continue I'm afraid. Okay. Alright one more.
00:57:34
Speaker
I'll take it. Oh god. Okay. Yeah. That is another one. Holy hell. Can you please paint us a picture as you batter this man?
00:57:44
Speaker
Yeah, you know this, that you know, in in One Punch Man where he's just punching, just... It's like that between between that and and Dragon Ball Z and Naruto, it's like a combo of just...
00:57:59
Speaker
And basically, that's all you see is just furies of fists just popping them. And they're not exactly on his face, they're just in his chest, because that's where he he am imagine like where he would line up exactly. He's not expending anything else other than just levitating a foot above the air, punching his abs, basically. Internal bleeding is happening without people realizing it. The slow-mo onslaught two go cold call is graphic as it is awesome.
00:58:27
Speaker
Would you please give us a performance check as you end the life of another sentient team? My performance is great. It's great. it just I just don't care. I just don't care about it. It's strictly business, Farouk.
00:58:43
Speaker
Strictly, you you you brought me here into this game. I'm not playing it. We're bum-rushing everything. Don't care. Just awful. The Berserker appears as a ah as a holographic bust for a moment, and then the year announces his state of death as there are genuine tears in the audience.
00:59:05
Speaker
Sorry, Burkrak the Brutal. He's gonna keep bowing. He's like, Doonet. He does his little ear thing, and like, waiting for the booze. And he's like, yeah.
00:59:16
Speaker
Beautiful. I make no friends here. That is going to clear out the combat for the time being, because you done killed everybody. Beautiful. What do you do? Do I see the chest over there? You do see the chest. ah he's gonna He's gonna look at Lou and be like, Lou, you ever seen these be trapped before or is this just like a reward for us getting this far? He scratches the back of his head and he says he should be okay, but some of them get kind of trappy.
00:59:43
Speaker
Harkulis, can you, uh, can you sacrifice an arm, maybe? No. I want that man's axe. And I'm gonna, I'm gonna grab the great axe, if possible, from the, uh, Berserker.
00:59:56
Speaker
You loot the corpse and, uh, take up a blood-soaked great axe. Wonderful. you don't want You don't want the headdress? You don't want look like a bear? It's too big. No, that's disrespect with this yeah' disrespectful. and Disrespectful to the big guy or disrespectful to the bear? No, I'm going to use this weapon.
01:00:15
Speaker
Don't question me. Nobody likes you right now. I thought you could use it as a robe because it's so big. All right, now go open your chest right now. Fine, fine. I will. Before I open up this chest, going to cast an arcana check on it.
01:00:29
Speaker
Beautiful. You do not detect anything magical about chest. I hope this thing eats you, mate. yeah You take it to serve it.
01:00:40
Speaker
Open it up. Can he kick open it? Like, like just a... Okay, so he's gonna kick open it. Beautiful. Alright, you kick open the chest, and inside are two potions of greater healing, a set of thieves' tools, and a scroll of dispel magic.
01:01:01
Speaker
Come over here. Yeah, here. A little pitter-patter of you. A little pitter-patter. Like, alright, do you want to take this spell magic scroll? I'll take the thieves' tools, because...
01:01:12
Speaker
Cause reasons. And you take a greater hail potion and I'll take one. Yeah. Fair? Yeah, yeah, we'll call that a new one. do you think you need to take the bear hat. What about Lou can take the bear hat. I really think he would look good in it.
01:01:26
Speaker
Oh, I can't say no to you. And he, like, he tries to put the bear thing, but it's so sticky with blood. if He's like, you know what? If it's still here, then we're done, maybe I'll take it home.
01:01:39
Speaker
Okay. use Use it as a reward for all your hard work. Oh, thanks. So yes, you have successfully looted your first chest. We're going to continue to the next corner and look around it.
01:01:52
Speaker
Okay, beautiful. Give me a perception check. First time I roll bad on perception, I'll have half-keelies roll. 14. 14 is not bad.

14 is not great, but 14 is not bad. We're going to say that half-keelies cannot be caught by surprise, but the same cannot be said for Rook. A pair of beefy boys come racing around...
01:02:17
Speaker
the corner to begin a new round of action. Rook, since you rolled low, this gentleman here is going to get one free swing at you before we resume action rounds. So let's go ahead and add some turns.
01:02:32
Speaker
All right, so Rook, At the start of the round, you are up and a nasty looking gladiator is breathing down your neck. He is going to you with his shield. You take nine points of bludgeoning damage. Can you please give me a strength saving throw?
01:02:49
Speaker
So I rolled a 12 plus three is 15. You just make it as like he hits you so hard you almost have the wind knocked out of you. But your back foot catches the dirt just right and you stay on your feet.
01:03:03
Speaker
What do you do? Well, punch him back. You don't get to do that to me. That is a hit. That is a hit. Okay. And I'm gonna do something different with my bonus action.
01:03:15
Speaker
Let me see what I can do here. I'm going to use my crusher feet. Okay. I'm going to five in an unoccupied area. I can move five feet within an unoccupied area. So I'm going to move.
01:03:26
Speaker
Can I move here? Is that possible? If they're here, that way we can get flanking done. Yeah. And then that'll end my turn. Gorgeous. So you get there without triggering an attack from the bugbear, thankfully.
01:03:40
Speaker
The gladiator is coming for you, though. He is going to turn. He is going to attack with his spear and miss, and he is going to bash you again with his shield and hit. Can you please give me another strength saving throw as you take nine more points of bludgeoning damage. Okay. All right, so that's 10 plus three is 13. Okay, this time you are knocked prone. And it will take, attacks on you have advantage until you get up. It will take half of your, it will consume half your movement to get to your feet.
01:04:12
Speaker
Lugwald is going to lumber over and says, you don't get to do that. And is coming for him with his spear. That is a hit. The guy is going to parry and deflect.
01:04:25
Speaker
Lugwald is going to strike again. In a flash, he comes up and the guy, boom. off the first with his shield and Lugwald strikes him with his javelin for 15. He is still on his feet, he is still quite furious.
01:04:43
Speaker
Alright, that is Lugwald. The bugbear is next. He is going to come behind Hathkelees to put him in a pincer ah flank between the gladiator and himself.
01:04:57
Speaker
And an advantage is going to attack halfcules with a big ol' morningstar. Thwack! Thwack! Both of those unfortunately hit as you take a total of 20 points of piercing damage from the blows of the morningstar overhead.
01:05:17
Speaker
The announcer just materializes long enough to wince of like, Ooh, someone's learned some strategy. Hate to see it. Half-Kiles, you are up and Rook is on deck. What you doing, Half-Kiles?
01:05:30
Speaker
Half-Kiles has his greataxe now, and he actually has the option of cleaving with his greataxe. So I'm going to try to hit the bugbear first.
01:05:43
Speaker
That's going to be the first one. We're going to go ahead and see if I hit that one. 15 just misses. Am I still enraged? mean, you could rage again. if a turn If a round passed and you were not injured and you did not deliberately...
01:05:57
Speaker
use it, then I believe Rage deactivates. Yeah. Okay. So yeah, I'll enter Rage again. Okay. as... That leaves me with nothing left, correct? if I'm not... As Rage floods through your system, what is Hathkele's feeling in this moment?
01:06:16
Speaker
What is he thinking? He's pretty beat up right now, and I think that last little strategy attack between the Gladiator and Bugbear really kind of rustled him. So right now, I feel like a little bit of blood is getting in his eye, and, uh,
01:06:32
Speaker
really taken form of the blood red eyes. You know, like truly blood red eyes. And I think he's just what a visual a hulking mass of meat ready to swing back on these guys when it when it comes back around to them Four feet of hulking.
01:06:50
Speaker
Yeah, four feet of hulking, you know, a nasty meatball, if you will. Of course. Rook, you are up, and the gladiator is after you. Whatcha doing, Rook?
01:07:01
Speaker
I'm gonna stand up, and I'm gonna punch like I do best. Okay. I know what to do when it comes to punching. Punch my twice, I don't miss.
01:07:12
Speaker
I'll spend a key to do flurry. And that'll be another two there, and those two misses. Okay. every time the On the nat one, you crack a knuckle and will take one point of your own bludgeoning damage from the nat one.
01:07:25
Speaker
The 17 hits, that connects for six points of bludgeoning damage on the gladiator. and then i'm going disengage which is one of my other things that i can do and then i'm gonna take two steps back the gladiator he feels the punch and then you withdraw and uh he is taking the bait he is going to try to get him outside of your flank see what i'm trying to do pull him away get him away from that okay so yeah he is coming right for you Lugwod and both of you, please give us attacks of opportunity on the gladiator as he steps towards Rook.
01:08:02
Speaker
That is a miss. Lugwod is going to swing that javelin. That is a hit. He scratches the gladiator along the back as he is coming for Rook.
01:08:14
Speaker
Here he comes with the spear and the shield. 15 hit on the spear. It does. So the spear pierces you for 11 points of piercing as the shield for eight points of bludgeoning. And with since it was a hit, can you give us, please, another strength saving throw? Shield, what's getting you?
01:08:38
Speaker
I hate the shield. You stay on your feet. yeah Beautiful. 17 plus 3 is 20. Lugwad is going to circle and attempt to give some version of flanking on the bugbear.
01:08:52
Speaker
He shouts general generalisms of of encouragement. That is a hit, and that is a hit. so He strikes twice on the bugbear here.
01:09:05
Speaker
walloping him with some rather nasty piercing and poison damage. The bugbear's turn. So yeah, he is going to swing his Morningstar at Lugwald.
01:09:17
Speaker
Thwackety, that is a miss. Thwackety, that is ah hit. Lugwald takes damage from the Morningstar to the tune of 10 points of damage.
01:09:29
Speaker
And he cries out, Hathcules, you are up. Whatcha doing friend? Okay. Hathcules is going to once again, use his great ax and just try to come down on the bugbear. Straight forward.
01:09:41
Speaker
Good old barbarian swing. Love to see it. You are at advantage because he got him flanked. Don't need it. That's a great hit. 13. 13. Gorgeous. Yeah. You hit him, but good. Now you're en rage again, so you can hit him again. That's exactly what I'm going. I'm going for a second swing.
01:09:56
Speaker
And instead of coming straight down, I'm going to go to the side on that one. You critted. So that's double damage. Is that how you do crits? Full plus rolling again. So 13, 13, 5. So Halfkeles. thirty one good god okay halfcules Would you please paint us a picture as you great axe this thing into it? Paint us a picture in in its own blood. After he's going to come down with that first hit before he rolled the crit and hit him right in the head. I mean, just really cleave it.
01:10:28
Speaker
And then on the second one, he goes straight up baseball Mickey Mantle swing right to the side and if possible, completely cleaves through this bugbear, splitting him in half.
01:10:39
Speaker
You totally do. He looks that Rook's in trouble and he goes, sorry, got a split. And... Okay, because of the cheesy one-liner, I'm going to let you roll at advantage.
01:10:52
Speaker
Give us and a performance check, please, with the pithy one-liner. Awesome. Oh, okay. was about to say. It literally teetered on the one before it went to 19. right. Amazing.
01:11:06
Speaker
I just love you over there. You throw the axe and cleave him clean in two. There is a roar from the crowd that are suddenly on their feet as a geyser of blood shoots up from this man's hips, this bugbear's hips, and just paints the top half of Halfkeles.
01:11:30
Speaker
Heil Vox materializes overhead with these floating holographic hands that go shoot over his head in celebration. And he says, now that is how you take half off, Herculee!
01:11:45
Speaker
And with a dirty 20, the Ardram sisters are both up out of their fainting couches where they have just been watching with mixed interest.
01:11:56
Speaker
And one turns to the other and she finishes a scrawl, rolls it up and blows it off her hand like she's blowing you a kiss. This little mushroom of paper drifts across the labyrinth and lands in front of half-kelees and it opens up in front of you.
01:12:18
Speaker
And inside is a little handwritten note from the Ardrams that say, love what you're doing. Keep up. the good work and you suddenly oh ah you tingle all over as you regain 16 points of health and for the next five rounds will have the benefits of heroism And as this feeling of triumph fills you, you recognize you have a long way to go in the Sladium games.
