Speaker: I would love to be a part of that.
Speaker: I really would.
Speaker: That sounds like a lot of fun.
Speaker: Awesome.
Speaker: Awesome.
Speaker: You know what I don't want to be a part of?
Speaker: What's that?
Speaker: This book anymore.
Speaker: Hey there, everybody.
Speaker: Welcome to Pixel It.
Speaker: My name is Kevin.
Speaker: With me, as always, is Phil.
Speaker: And today was part two of Gabriel Knight's Sins of the Father.
Speaker: We didn't really like the book in part one.
Speaker: And in part two, we're coming in hot.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It does the worst thing it could have possibly done where it starts to actually dig itself out of the hole.
Speaker: It gets a job.
Speaker: It starts calling its mother on Saturdays again.
Speaker: It stops ghosting that nice girl that it met on Bumble.
Speaker: And then just when you start to go, well, maybe...
Speaker: They've turned over a new leaf.
Speaker: The book does a line of cocaine of a strippers back and we're back deeper still into assholeville.
Speaker: And oh boy, this book.
Speaker: Oh boy.
Speaker: Here's a good example of my headspace with this book is in part one when, you know, I was giving the book all due credit that I felt it deserved.
Speaker: I was taking detailed notes.
Speaker: I took like six and a half pages of notes on the things that were going on.
Speaker: And I was like, I'm going to, you know, everything, a little thing that happens.
Speaker: Last night, I finished reading this second part of the book that we had laid out.
Speaker: And so my process is I read the book and then probably the next day I go and I kind of do a skim and like take down, you know, notes on the beats and plot points and all that stuff so I can kind of walk through them.
Speaker: So five, six pages of notes for part one.
Speaker: And for part two, I took...
Speaker: In total, one and a quarter pages.
Speaker: And I didn't take any notes on chapter six because when I got to chapter six, I just couldn't even skim it again.
Speaker: I was so angry.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It really does.
Speaker: I kind of know what happens.
Speaker: It doesn't matter, though.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: This was one of those books.
Speaker: This is one of those books, especially this section of this book, where you and I have been doing this long enough.
Speaker: We're coming up on our hundredth episode.
Speaker: Coming in hot.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: We have been at this for a while.
Speaker: It is not our career yet.
Speaker: Yet.
Speaker: We still work our day jobs and that kind of thing.
Speaker: And but we take but we've always taken the show seriously.
Speaker: We have always made sure that there was something.
Speaker: There's always been a warm plate for you kids waiting in the oven, no matter how late you get home on a Friday night.
Speaker: We always have an episode.
Speaker: We always have some content.
Speaker: And because we work really hard at this and we really care about this.
Speaker: And this section of the book was one of those rare moments that I went, wait a minute, this isn't my fucking job.
Speaker: This isn't my job.
Speaker: This isn't my job.
Speaker: I'm not putting any more effort into this goddamn thing.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: I read it.
Speaker: I committed pieces of it to memory, not the pieces the author hoped I would.
Speaker: And I was like, okay, we're done.
Speaker: We can talk about it now.
Speaker: I do not have to.
Speaker: If this were my nine to five reading these books, then yes, I would have...
Speaker: gone a whole lot deeper into analyzing this but mother of god mother of god and mother of pearl holy toledo the you know the holy trilogy of of euphemisms for our
Speaker: You know, gosh, this is just bad.
Speaker: It's bad.
Speaker: Anyway, and BT dubs, I did like click through a Let's Play of the game.
Speaker: Oh, okay.
Speaker: And a lot of the worst offending, here's the thing, is like, it's bad, but it's also offensive.
Speaker: A lot of the worst, like, a lot of some of the worst offensive stuff in the book is not in the game.
Speaker: It was added later just for the book.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: There's still some really dodgy shit in the game.
Speaker: Of course.
Speaker: After I look through the Let's Play, it's, you know, it's handled all the, with the, all the tact and care of white people in 1993 could possibly handle a story about
Speaker: Black characters with voodoo.
Speaker: I mean, which is none.
Speaker: None.
Speaker: No tact.
Speaker: None.
Speaker: None whatsoever.
Speaker: None whatsoever.
Speaker: None whatsoever.
Speaker: So if... Anyway, yes.
Speaker: So the book expands the worst of some of those scenes to...
Speaker: Four years later, the book is written and expands some of the some of the worst scenes and to make that making them just like, oh, so, okay, let's get into it.
Speaker: Oh, go ahead.
Speaker: Go ahead.
Speaker: Well, it's like George Lucas, you know, where he's like, this, these are the these were the the movies I wanted to make when he ruined the original trilogy and everything.
Speaker: It's like if George Lucas wanted the original trilogy to be more racist somehow.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Some
Speaker: Somehow he wanted it to be more racist.
Speaker: He, you know.
Speaker: He's like, we're just going to really add a whole bunch of... Well, he did.
Speaker: He did.
Speaker: He made... He was like more Tusken Raider stuff.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Which is probably up there.
Speaker: Tusken Raiders and Jar Jar right up there.
Speaker: Oh, boy.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I say this as I'm wearing a Star Wars shirt.
Speaker: Jesus Christ.
Speaker: Well, that just shows that you know what you're talking about.
Speaker: I know what I'm talking about.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But, yeah.
Speaker: So...
Speaker: Anyway, when I tell you to dump a body in the marsh, you dump them in the marsh.
Speaker: Chapter four, St.
Speaker: George's Bookshop.
Speaker: By the way, I've been saying Malia because that's what I assume the name was pronounced as, because that's how the president's daughter, the former president Obama's daughter is Malia.
Speaker: But in the game, it's Malia.
Speaker: Oh, I remember that.
Speaker: So if Tim Curry is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Speaker: Yeah, fair enough.
Speaker: So Tim Curry, for those of you who don't know, was the voice of Gabriel Knight in in the original version of the game, which I believe, as you said, is no longer available to purchase.
Speaker: Did you say that, Phil, or did I?
Speaker: I forget.
Speaker: Yes, yes.
Speaker: Exactly.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Tim Curry was the original voice and Mark Hamill was the original voice of Mosley.
Speaker: So just fun facts.
Speaker: Anyway, Malia and Gabe sleep together.
Speaker: That fine.
Speaker: Grace is annoyed when he comes out of the back room.
Speaker: Gabe tells her all about the information he figured out yesterday.
Speaker: Grace shows him a photocopy of an article from 1910 with the same, and I don't know the pronunciation of this, if it's Veve or Veve.
Speaker: I think it's Veve.
Speaker: Veve in a crime scene.
Speaker: And that's what he had the guy reconstruct.
Speaker: So Gabe goes to the voodoo museum.
Speaker: So there's this weird scene where Gabe gets bad vibes while he's driving by the river and he has like a panic attack.
Speaker: And then he goes to the voodoo museum and he asks Dr. John for information on a local voodoo N who I guess is a voodoo fortune teller.
Speaker: It's not necessarily explained.
Speaker: And he refers him to Magentia moonbeam.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And then Gabe shows Dr. John the symbols on Marie Laveau's tomb that he found days prior.
Speaker: And Dr. John's like, it's graffiti.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And also.
Speaker: Yeah, that's the ticket.
Speaker: That's the ticket.
Speaker: It's it's very specific geometric graffiti.
Speaker: Also, you shouldn't be going to the cemetery alone.
Speaker: And then the white boy is implied.
Speaker: There are a couple of moments like that in this book where the character stops short of calling him a cracker or white boy or something like that.
Speaker: And you're like, okay, yeah, yeah, that's fair.
Speaker: That's, that's, it would have been deserved at this point.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: It would have made a lot of sense.
Speaker: Whatever you want it.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Whatever you want.
Speaker: Uh, Gabriel Knight deserves it.
Speaker: He totally does.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: He totally does.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: He goes to Magentia Moonbeam's shop.
Speaker: She seems mostly to just be like an act, but she does know something about the code on the side of Marie Laveau's tomb.
Speaker: And she she has like a thing to kind of translate it.
Speaker: And they translate it to DJ Conclave Tonight bring Magentia
Speaker: It's bring Fwet Cash, which, spoiler, I'm just going to tell you, the Fwet Cash is the ceremonial whip that they use.
Speaker: It takes Gabriel like five scenes to figure this out.
Speaker: Super difficult word puzzle out.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Oh, there's a space between the two.
Speaker: It's so funny because so many other times he knows what to do before he knows what to do.
Speaker: And it's like he's reading a walkthrough of his own life.
Speaker: And then for some reason, it's the word puzzle that just completely totally eludes him.
Speaker: The author up.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: I just imagined Gabriel Knight in New Orleans walking around with a book like a prima guides of.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Game facts.
Speaker: Game facts printout.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And it's got the, it's got the, what do they call it?
Speaker: ASCII.
Speaker: ASCII.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's his face.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's his face.
Speaker: It's his face out of dashes and asterisks.
Speaker: Where's that meta breaking game?
Speaker: I would play that.
Speaker: That sounds great.
Speaker: Oh God.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: He goes to Napoleon Bar and Sam is not there, but Gabe gets the bracelet from the bartender who Sam left to go back east.
Speaker: Um.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: So he gets the bracelet.
Speaker: Jackson Square.
Speaker: He goes to Jackson Square and there's a bit of a weird chase scene between Gabe and Crash, who was the gentleman that Gabe had seen in the police station earlier during this sequence.
Speaker: Our author uses a dated and offensive term to describe Crash's skin.
Speaker: Oh, boy.
Speaker: That he is one quarter black, and I'm not even going to say the word that she used.
Speaker: Um...
Speaker: Well, it's like a it's like you it's a word you'd hear in a Quentin Tarantino movie.
Speaker: It is not a word.
Speaker: It would be a word in a you'd hear in a Quentin Tarantino movie because Quentin feels way too comfortable.
Speaker: Way too comfortable.
Speaker: And it would be said by by the character that Quentin is playing.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: He'd make a point.
Speaker: He'd make it a point.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: To say that.
Speaker: So and this is just this.
Speaker: It's not even in dialogue.
Speaker: There shouldn't be.
Speaker: There's not like an excuse of like, oh, it's a character that is like.
Speaker: Yes, exactly.
Speaker: That is like it's not some old, old Southern gentleman, some some New Orleans.
Speaker: Old New Orleans man who's just like, oh, he's saying the words.
Speaker: He's saying some offensive words.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And you'd go, well, yeah, that might be something a guy like that would say.
Speaker: No, this is just in the narration.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: This is the narrator using this term.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So anyway, um, that happens.
Speaker: Um, uh, he, uh, uh, crash passes a message to a guy on a rotter drum.
Speaker: Um, and then, uh, uh, Gabe continues to chase some chases.
Speaker: I'm into the St.
Speaker: Louis Louis cathedral.
Speaker: Uh, crash is like dying.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: his crash puts it he is turning into jello and he coughs up some blood and gunk and stuff like that onto the floor
Speaker: Crash gives some information about the Conclave and the Han Four and also how like his tattoo, the tattoo that Crash has on, which is like a it's a Caduceus type of looking tattoo.
Speaker: The one that he has on his chest is important for showing that you are you are owned by the voodoo people.
Speaker: And then he dies.
Speaker: And I will say, and I brought up at the beginning of this episode that in this section, we start getting some parts where I was like, OK, all right, the writing is is is picking back up.
Speaker: This was a this was this scene was an example of that.
Speaker: It's actually very effectively spooky the way that Jensen describes what's happening to this guy's skin and what he's he's he's.
Speaker: melting down basically um it's it's effectively creepy like cottage cheese yeah yeah and and there are a couple of scenes like this uh where the scares are where i actually did find myself kind of skeezed out it was creepy um and it was effective uh but at this point we've also gotten into um
Speaker: A lot of questionable shit, not the least of which is, as Kevin and I pointed out quickly in the last episode, everyone was very quick to say, well, this isn't voodoo, this isn't voodoo.
Speaker: And we had criticism like, well, they're still using the trappings of voodoo to be spooky and that's still questionable.
Speaker: But at least they're saying this isn't how voodoo works.
Speaker: This is the section of the book where they just go, no, this is super voodoo.
Speaker: This is a super duper hidden voodoo that none of y'all knew about.
Speaker: And I knew that it was going to get to this.
Speaker: I was hoping it wouldn't.
Speaker: They were, it was just like, they don't protest too much in the first three chapters for the second three chapters is suddenly like, all right, now that we've gotten all the hand wringing and obfuscation and the couching and all that stuff.
Speaker: Now that we've done all that,
Speaker: fuck, you want to talk about some real spooky voodoo here?
Speaker: You want to see some shit?
Speaker: You want to see some shit?
Speaker: And as the reader, you're like, no.
Speaker: And you're like, well, here's some racial, weird, old racial terms for you.
Speaker: And you're like, why are you showing me this?
Speaker: And they're like, it's going to get bad.
Speaker: This is going to get real weird.
Speaker: This is going to get real weird.
Speaker: And us as the readers are like,
Speaker: Well, we're only reading this because it's a podcast.
Speaker: Mm hmm.
Speaker: So moving on.
Speaker: That's that's fine.
Speaker: We knew that this was this day was coming.
Speaker: We knew this day was coming.
Speaker: They were way ahead of their game.
Speaker: Since 1997.
Speaker: OK.
Speaker: Gabe goes to the police station and tells Mosley that Crash has died.
Speaker: Mosley assumes it's probably just an overdose.
Speaker: And Gabriel then yells at Mosley for being a chicken shit and storms out of the room.
Speaker: So basically the case is closed.
Speaker: They have decided that it's just some sort of local group.
Speaker: just killing off because they were all all the victims were Chicago mafia and they just didn't.
Speaker: It was like and the police have decided better the devil we know than, you know, some out of towners like we'll get to them eventually.
Speaker: Like the Chicago mafia has backed off on moving down here.
Speaker: So whatever, it's fine.
Speaker: I feel like that whole thing is never.
Speaker: explored enough.
Speaker: Really?
Speaker: No.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's like when they bring this, that part up here and they're like, well, but, but it was a bunch of Chicago mobsters that got killed.
Speaker: And I'm like, it was like, that was not a red hair.
Speaker: That was real.
Speaker: That was real.
Speaker: Oh, okay.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: I guess like,
Speaker: Yeah, it's it's it's little details like that.
Speaker: We're like, no, but really, though, which I guess that is kind of how conspiracies work in real life.
Speaker: It's like not everything.
Speaker: Sometimes there are just some weird details, but not in a computer game, not in a point and click adventure game.
Speaker: It's right.
Speaker: Random.
Speaker: It's so random.
Speaker: Yeah, it's random.
Speaker: So he's he's so angry.
Speaker: He stands up too fast and he knocks the chair over and he goes out.
Speaker: And after walk afterwards, Gabe is so angry.
Speaker: He gives himself a pep talk into going it alone.
Speaker: So weird.
Speaker: Then he goes back to the bookstore and Grace is like, hey, the case is closed.
Speaker: And he's like, I know.
Speaker: And then he's like, can you look into Rata drums?
Speaker: And then he has this weird bit where he just starts laughing.
Speaker: A lot.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: He gets weird here.
Speaker: Weirder than normal.
Speaker: I mean, weirder than normal.
Speaker: And then Grace is like, I'm leaving now.
Speaker: And then later that night, he booty calls Malia and she asks him to come over.
Speaker: Hooray.
Speaker: Hooray.
Speaker: Our hero got laid some more.
Speaker: Their love story continues.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: Thank God for that.
Speaker: Thank God.
Speaker: I think we were all concerned about that love story there.
Speaker: Super concerned.
Speaker: Chapter five.
Speaker: Back at St.
Speaker: George's Books.
Speaker: Wolfgang Ritter is called again.
Speaker: And Grace founded Radha Drum Book Dealer.
Speaker: in Philadelphia.
Speaker: Gabe realizing that we're remembering that Wolfgang, oh, yeah, he's he's actually family.
Speaker: He calls Wolfgang back.
Speaker: Gabe is weirdly mean about everything Wolfgang says in this conversation, like the old man, the crazy old man and be like, Gabe, what the?
Speaker: You're okay.
Speaker: It's like we haven't talked about this guy.
Speaker: Like, why are we suddenly?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: The conversation, it blows.
Speaker: He wants Gabe to leave town, but Gabe isn't going to leave town and Wolfgang is going to send him a book.
Speaker: And also Gabe, Gabe is a shot and Jaeger or shadow hunter.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Good.
Speaker: It's German.
Speaker: So, you know, it's real spooky.
Speaker: It's German shot and Jaeger shot in the Jaeger.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: So after that, Hartridge calls.
Speaker: He had a breakthrough and wants to talk.
Speaker: Gabe has another weird interaction with Grace, and then he leaves.
Speaker: Back at Tulane, Hartridge is dead, dead, dead ski.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: So Gabe goes to the police and reports the death, and Mosley's like, oh, you're reporting another death.
Speaker: This is mighty suspect that you're doing this again.
Speaker: And and but but by the way, kind of like heads that off eventually.
Speaker: Like like when Gabe finally is like he's like, I mean, look, I know how this looks.
Speaker: And he goes, nah, you wouldn't have killed him.
Speaker: It's like, oh, so there's no.
Speaker: OK, great.
Speaker: He's like, you're he goes.
Speaker: He says, you're whacked, but you're not that whacked.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: Which I was which I was relieved by, frankly, because I was worried we were going to get some tension and dramatic irony and some stakes and some stakes.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Beyond weird ass, random German, great, great, great, great grandpappy shadow hunter shit.
Speaker: Schatten Jaeger.
Speaker: I think I think it's it's worked for 100,000 crime stories up until now that he's getting pinned for this murder.
Speaker: Why not stick with that?
Speaker: But whatever.
Speaker: Fine.
Speaker: Yeah, whatever.
Speaker: So mostly is like, all right, give me evidence and I'll help you out.
Speaker: After leaving, Gabe's like, wait a minute.
Speaker: Dr. John.
Speaker: Oh.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So he goes to the voodoo museum and hey, now the snake appears out of nowhere and starts boa constricting itself around Gabe's neck.
Speaker: Just drops on him.
Speaker: Just drops on him.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Like from the ceiling or something like that.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It was up in the drop ceiling and it just like it was in the drop ceiling and it just collapsed.
Speaker: And yeah,
Speaker: So, yeah, basically what happens is Gabe fights off this snake and then or he doesn't fight off the snake.
Speaker: He can't.
Speaker: It's a bow constrictor.
Speaker: He remembers that there was that ceiling fan that he touched earlier and that it's like it scares the snake.
Speaker: So he stumbles his way over there and he turns it on and the snake gets off of him.
Speaker: Um, so then Dr. John's like, Oh, Hey, now you shouldn't enter dark buildings.
Speaker: Gabe leaves.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I see your point.
Speaker: Goodbye.
Speaker: And that's it.
Speaker: John.
Speaker: Thanks dude.
Speaker: Thank you.
Speaker: Um, so.
Speaker: He goes back to he goes back to Tulane and Hartridge's office and the cops like within 30 minutes, I guess, got the body out of there.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: And there's.
Speaker: It's not it's not even like a police.
Speaker: It's they're like not even treating it like a crime scene.
Speaker: They've already released it.
Speaker: He just goes into the office.
Speaker: He just goes in.
Speaker: He just walks his happy little ass in there.
Speaker: His happy little ass.
Speaker: And he goes in there and he does that little trick.
Speaker: He sees that like he sees that Hartridge has one of those paper blotters, you know, the big old paper ones where you tear the paper off.
Speaker: And he's like, he's like, oh, the notes are gone.
Speaker: And be like, wait a minute.
Speaker: He has a paper blotter.
Speaker: So he does the thing with the pencil.
Speaker: You know what I mean?
Speaker: Where he he he
Speaker: It's the Big Lebowski.
Speaker: He goes like, yeah, the Big Lebowski.
Speaker: And he goes, and he gets Hartridge's notes and he takes the paper.
Speaker: He gets to see the scribble drawing of a giant boner.
Speaker: Yeah, actually, that's not far off.
Speaker: Hartridge was drawing some some big boobied women.
Speaker: That's actually.
Speaker: Yeah, that's true.
Speaker: And oh, and there's another combo where it's like it's like looking at the big boobied women that he's drawing.
Speaker: You get the idea of why he chose African culture to study or something like that.
Speaker: Yeah, it's.
Speaker: Fuck.
Speaker: It is just, just, just shoehorning in any, any like offensive stereotypical mention into the description of.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It was a freebie.
Speaker: It was just like, this is just one for fun.
Speaker: You know, like.
Speaker: You can put this one in here.
Speaker: It has nothing to do with the plot or anything else.
Speaker: I'm just going to throw this in there for funsies.
Speaker: Holy shit, dude.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So he goes back to the bookstore.
Speaker: Gabe tells Grace everything that's happened so far and gives her a lowdown on the Hartridge notes, shows her, shows her that the naked women is like, look at these.
Speaker: And check these out and check these out.
Speaker: And then he's like, hey, can you look something up from these?
Speaker: And then she finds a scale on his cheek from the snake.
Speaker: And then she also sees the bruise from the snake.
Speaker: And then he says, says it's a hickey and then sexually harasses her into leaving for the day.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah Our hero, ladies and gentlemen Our hero Oh my god And look, this is not how scales work
Speaker: By the way, it's not they're not feathers.
Speaker: They don't.
Speaker: OK, sorry.
Speaker: Just OK, fine.
Speaker: Fuck it.
Speaker: Fuck it.
Speaker: Scales work like feathers.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Like it's because because the snake sheds its skin as like an entire a piece, a piece rather than like you can't just you're not just like breaking the scale off.
Speaker: No, no, I'd be like, that'd be like, it's not.
Speaker: I was about to make a metaphor of it be like you found a scab or something.
Speaker: That's not it's not even that you found a chunk of skin.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker: You found a skin tag, you know, and it just, of course, that would imply that people are completely covered in skin tags.
Speaker: And I think we've all known that one person, but still.
Speaker: Yeah, that's true.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: We'll accidentally, like, like, scratch a skin tag off or something.
Speaker: Oh, 100%.
Speaker: It is.
Speaker: It's like, oh, that stings.
Speaker: Oh, it's bleeding a lot.
Speaker: Oh, oh, oh, it's bleeding a lot, a lot.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: Oh, I've been there.
Speaker: Oh, God.
Speaker: Um.
Speaker: So the snake scale matches.
Speaker: He goes to the police station and Mosley is acting super weird.
Speaker: Like the dialogue in this scene is nearly unreadable because every other word is Mosley going like.
Speaker: Yes, they describe it like it's an I guess it's meant to be like a nervous chuckle.
Speaker: Or something, but it's like written as like fucking like Bond from Flintstones.
Speaker: Like, yeah.
Speaker: Hey, Bond.
Speaker: I don't know, Fred.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: It's yeah, it's exactly how it's written.
Speaker: And I was kind of already thinking of a Barney Rubble type with this character anyway.
Speaker: So we didn't need that.
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So weird.
Speaker: This book is in Barney, by the way.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Barney rubble.
Speaker: Trouble.
Speaker: Trouble.
Speaker: Oh.
Speaker: Oh, God.
Speaker: That's bad.
Speaker: And then Gabe shows him the evidence and Mosley's like, ah, I am going to help you now.
Speaker: I am going to take vacation and go undercover.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, because he was such a competent cop to begin with.
Speaker: Super competent cop.
Speaker: Yeah, all that he, the only thing that was missing from his career, the only way he could have made things better was if he had no funding and no one to hold him accountable for anything.
Speaker: That was all that was holding him back, really.
Speaker: So, yeah, sweet.
Speaker: Awesome.
Speaker: Sweet.
Speaker: Back at the bookstore, Gabe calls Malia again, and she doesn't pick up the phone.
Speaker: Then Gabe has his traditional dream again.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: So here we are.
Speaker: We're at chapter six, which starts with at some point in the night, people broke into the store and sacrificed a rooster.
Speaker: Didn't actually finish it off.
Speaker: The rooster was still kicking when they fucked up.
Speaker: when when grace finds it but yeah so chapter six and this is the the chapter i have i i didn't even write notes on but this is basically um what happens is uh they they find the rooster up at the front they clean it up at some point there's a there's a shadowy figure outside
Speaker: dressed in all black and there's a note that gets left and it's Mosley he's already doing his thing he's already yeah exactly he's already in it he's already in his undercover that Mosley and he leaves a note for Gabe saying hey if you need any equipment I have some at my office like here's a key or something to unlock it and that'll come into play later when I don't remember it it's in this chapter
Speaker: And then magically, Gabe gets the package from Wolfgang.
Speaker: He just talked to him yesterday on the phone and the magic delivery service from Germany to New Orleans.
Speaker: A portal through hell, and boom, it's there.
Speaker: It's just like a hand reaches up from hell and deposits it on the... It's Hell X. Why, could you?
Speaker: Could you?
Speaker: Oh, oh, oh.
Speaker: Red X. It's... Oh, yeah.
Speaker: But what could you expect anything less from the Schadenjägers?
Speaker: The shot.
Speaker: I guess they, they, they, they ship through the, the shadows.
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: So, and what follows is like about 20 or so pages of like journal entry.
Speaker: And God, God,
Speaker: damn it it is so boring um it is boring so to summarize what happens and you know what's amazing you know what's amazing is if you go look at the cut scene in the game where this happens it just summarizes what was in the journal there's like
Speaker: It's the narrator comes on with the faux Caribbean accent and says, Gabe reads the journal.
Speaker: It's about his grand, great, great grandfather, his ancestor, Gunther.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Gunter, who was in New Orleans as a witch hunter, the Schatten Jaeger.
Speaker: And she was there investigating the like a similar spree of quote unquote voodoo murders.
Speaker: And, uh,
Speaker: Instead he falls in love with a woman named T to low who is, you know, the queen of voodoo and, uh,
Speaker: There's a talisman that's magic.
Speaker: And at some point he Tidolo gets captured and all of her people are getting burned alive and he saves her with the power of the talisman.
Speaker: But she doesn't forgive him for letting her get captured in the first place.
Speaker: And that's that.
Speaker: That's that.
Speaker: There's like 20 pages.
Speaker: There's a lot.
Speaker: It's so much.
Speaker: It's so much.
Speaker: At one point, Gunter does a blackface to go undercover, which...
Speaker: I mean, Jesus Christ.
Speaker: Jesus.
Speaker: It's like, and they just throw it in another thing where they just kind of throw it in there.
Speaker: It's like, I couldn't believe she could recognize me because I had covered my face with pitch to blend in.
Speaker: You're like, and I had to look that up.
Speaker: I was like, I was like, all right, let's see.
Speaker: And they're like, oh, okay.
Speaker: Pitch now.
Speaker: And it's like, it's using like, it's like a black root or something that you use.
Speaker: It's like a tar.
Speaker: It's like a tar.
Speaker: And I'd be like, that's terrible.
Speaker: What are we doing here?
Speaker: That is awful.
Speaker: How did we get here?
Speaker: This is ridiculous.
Speaker: This is all, and this is all bonus, bonus racism.
Speaker: That is added for the book.
Speaker: Just extra freebie racism.
Speaker: Hope you enjoy that.
Speaker: Freebie racism.
Speaker: Well, I got to tell you, if I've got to have racism, I'm glad I didn't pay for it, Kevin.
Speaker: I'm glad that it was free.
Speaker: They threw it in.
Speaker: It's like free.
Speaker: It's free real estate.
Speaker: Yeah, it's free real estate.
Speaker: They threw it in.
Speaker: It was part of the deal.
Speaker: What was I supposed to do?
Speaker: Not accept their racism for free?
Speaker: Come on.
Speaker: That's just leaving racism on the table, my friend.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Um, so that's 20 pages of chapter six and chapter six goes on for fucking ever.
Speaker: But yeah, that's chapter six is a good God.
Speaker: Chapter six goes on forever.
Speaker: It's like a hundred pages or something like that.
Speaker: It's something ridiculous.
Speaker: It's insane.
Speaker: And I haven't, I told you this, Kevin, I, I haven't fallen asleep.
Speaker: While reading a book, you know, the whole thing of like you're reading a book and you literally fall asleep with a book in your hand and, you know, just.
Speaker: Yeah, that hasn't happened to me since undergrad.
Speaker: And I fell asleep reading these journal entries.
Speaker: I Gunter, not a dynamic writer.
Speaker: No, no, just not very interesting.
Speaker: That Gunter, you would think, you know, being a shadow hunter would be super compelling and interesting.
Speaker: It's apparently not.
Speaker: It's apparently a lot of administrative work.
Speaker: I think so.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And and undercover and a lot of filing, a lot of filing.
Speaker: But yeah, I mean, and the background of the story has to do with with slavers and all that stuff.
Speaker: Um, so it, it gets cuts pretty close to the issues of, of the day, this being the 1600s, but still it's, it's just so bad.
Speaker: Um, the way it's, it's, it's put together.
Speaker: So anyway, that happens.
Speaker: Um, I don't think we're going to get Jane Jensen on the show.
Speaker: Um, I don't think that's in the cards.
Speaker: No, I think, yeah, that might be, Hmm.
Speaker: Hmm.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: So anyway, he he does some some more shit.
Speaker: He figures out the pattern of the Rata drum and that the Rata drum is communicating that there's a conclave tonight in the swamp.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: And then he goes to the police station and now the police are basically like weird and zombified.
Speaker: Again, another kind of spooky moment.
Speaker: Another kind of spooky moment.
Speaker: And it's more along the lines of the way like the traditional voodoo zombie type thing where you know what I mean?
Speaker: Not like the living dead, but just like
Speaker: Mind controlled, basically.
Speaker: Mind controlled.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So, yeah, that that that happens.
Speaker: It's and it's and it's kind of spooky.
Speaker: So basically, he goes around back because he goes to the front.
Speaker: Officer Frisk says, oh, there is no detective Mosley.
Speaker: There's no detective Mosley on the force.
Speaker: And he's like, OK, that's weird.
Speaker: So he goes around behind the police station and he breaks in through a window.
Speaker: into detective Mosley's office and he gets the stuff out.
Speaker: And like he's like making a lot of noise, but they're not even paying attention to him like he realizes.
Speaker: And then he intentionally just like pushes over like a big old stack of papers and everybody looks at him at the same time.
Speaker: Like, yeah, their eyes, their heads just kind of like snap to him.
Speaker: And he's like, oh, shit.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So what he finds in Detective Mosley's desk are basically like the the Apple AirTags.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, that's exactly what it is.
Speaker: It's these little disks that emit radio signals that you can then track with a little radar device.
Speaker: It's basically an Apple AirTag.
Speaker: It's exactly what it is.
Speaker: So he's like, all right, well, I got to I got to figure this out.
Speaker: He goes to the back to the Voodoo Museum and there's Dr. John isn't there.
Speaker: There's a woman working at the desk and he just he puts one of the tags into the little coffin that they have on display.
Speaker: And then he goes to the graveyard and he writes a coded message to DJ to bring that little coffin to the conclave tonight.
Speaker: So that way with it has a tag in it and he can find it, all that fun stuff.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And then there's I might have skipped something.
Speaker: I don't remember, but he goes back to the bookstore and he has a real sensual moment with Grace where.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: He asks her to to draw on him like one of her French girls.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And she does.
Speaker: And she does.
Speaker: And she does.
Speaker: There is a reference to her caramel colored skin at some point in this.
Speaker: There is indeed.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: It feels very heading off racism at the past.
Speaker: We're like, well, if I'm racist, why am I making him fall in love with all these beautiful women of color?
Speaker: I don't think you thought that through, my friend.
Speaker: I don't think you thought.
Speaker: Yahtzee.
Speaker: Yahtzee.
Speaker: So there.
Speaker: So there.
Speaker: I don't know how much pushback we're going to get from Sierra Online fans.
Speaker: Well, here's the thing.
Speaker: I'm a huge Sierra Online fan, and I barely know this one at all.
Speaker: I don't think this one is particularly well-remembered.
Speaker: I don't know how many die-hard Gabriel Knight stans there are out there.
Speaker: We would still be...
Speaker: pushing this.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Damn it.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I think.
Speaker: And you know what that what's what's funny is I did talk to some people today about like, oh, yeah, Gabriel Knight, too, is a pretty neat FMV, you know, point and click game.
Speaker: And I'm like, oh, OK, the first one has got some things going on.
Speaker: Yeah, it sure does.
Speaker: It sure does.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: I don't know what the second and third one are about.
Speaker: The second one is werewolves and the third one is vampires.
Speaker: Oh, OK.
Speaker: So so at least, yeah, we've we're we're avoiding.
Speaker: Yeah, we're that's that is that is a little bit safer topics there.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: The Jane, it's in your it's in the lane, you know, assuming we don't like go into like Skinwalker Native American stuff with the werewolves.
Speaker: I feel like we probably are OK on those ones.
Speaker: Probably.
Speaker: Probably.
Speaker: So, yeah, he gets Grace to paint the Caduceus snake on his chest, similar to the way Crash had it.
Speaker: And he he's basically going undercover.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: And he puts on the bracelet that he had molded and he just inexplicably new to do.
Speaker: Which he just knew to do.
Speaker: And he takes the mask with him.
Speaker: The mask, which he calls like Billy Jr. or something like that.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And so he takes the mask with him, the gator mask that he bought for $100.
Speaker: $100 for paper mache.
Speaker: And yeah.
Speaker: So it's 1993, $100 too.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: I got to look this up now.
Speaker: 1993 to today dollars.
Speaker: $100 in 1993 is equivalent to $208.19 a day.
Speaker: That's not insignificant.
Speaker: Hey, with a little sale and maybe some help from a grandma, you can take that $208 and buy yourself a Switch.
Speaker: Absolutely.
Speaker: Absolutely.
Speaker: Nice Nintendo Switch.
Speaker: We got...
Speaker: Zelda tears of the kingdom.
Speaker: You could do that.
Speaker: You could just do that and chill out instead of doing, uh, any of this, any of this or a misogyny.
Speaker: Gabriel.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Um, looking at you, Gabriel, I went back to my notes, but there's nothing there.
Speaker: Uh,
Speaker: Just clicked over and it's like, oh yeah, it's a blank page.
Speaker: Right, right.
Speaker: Look, Kevin, don't sweat it.
Speaker: You didn't let yourself down.
Speaker: The book let you down.
Speaker: It refused to let me in.
Speaker: Yeah, exactly.
Speaker: Exactly.
Speaker: Let anyone in really.
Speaker: So.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Anyway, by the way, the subtitle sins of the fathers, just to go back for a little bit, sins of the fathers were reversed to Gunter's sin of turning his back on Titolo, even though he saved her technically, uh,
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: And then the Knight family, the Ritter family slash Knight family has been cursed ever since.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So that's there.
Speaker: There is.
Speaker: There it is.
Speaker: The sins of the.
Speaker: There's the title.
Speaker: There it is.
Speaker: That's the title.
Speaker: That's the title.
Speaker: So.
Speaker: He goes to the swamp.
Speaker: He has his little radar dish and he has just a terrible time getting through the swamp.
Speaker: But he does.
Speaker: But he.
Speaker: Oh, boy.
Speaker: He does not enjoy it.
Speaker: It is like bugs and underbrush and regular brush.
Speaker: Uh huh.
Speaker: He's in the bayou.
Speaker: He's in the bayou.
Speaker: Gators, I would assume.
Speaker: At one point in this scene, by the way, while he's there on his way there, he talks about how he didn't know he needed to buy the mask.
Speaker: And yeah.
Speaker: And now he has the mask and he's going to use it.
Speaker: And I'm like, that's OK.
Speaker: Just because you acknowledge the fact that you did some weird meta shit doesn't make it OK.
Speaker: It's sort of make it better.
Speaker: It's sort of like that scene that I saw a clip from that that Rick and Morty video game High on Life where the guy, the gun that's always talking to you says something about like, oh, we're doing this again.
Speaker: We're doing like that's that's bad game design where you have to do this the same thing two times in a row.
Speaker: And like just because you have a Justin Roiland voiced gun, which ick, first of all,
Speaker: talking about how it's bad game design doesn't excuse it from being bad game design.
Speaker: It's such a... It's so... I'm glad so many people can see through that sort of thing now, but they still do it, and it's... Oh, God, it's just like, yeah, all right.
Speaker: That's different.
Speaker: So he gets to the party.
Speaker: The Han 4.
Speaker: And there's just people dancing, and there's a lot of...
Speaker: not great descriptions of the way they're dancing.
Speaker: Um, and the people who are dancing and the people who are dancing.
Speaker: It's just, uh, you know, uh, I don't even feel like getting into that.
Speaker: Um, we, we get a lot of focus on, uh, uh, a dong, uh, if you recall, yeah, breasts and buttocks is, and they're all taught, uh,
Speaker: And very Africanized in terms of that kind of fetishist.
Speaker: Yeah, it's very.
Speaker: That's the thing is it's very fetishistic.
Speaker: It's it's it's it's African fetishizing and it doesn't read great.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Dr. John is there and he is drinking something and spraying it into people's faces.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: The girl who was at the front desk when he was in the voodoo museum was also there.
Speaker: And but now she's topless and
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Gabe gets to see her boobas.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: So that's all that's all described.
Speaker: And then there's a big moment where this woman with a leopard mask on comes out and it's it's.
Speaker: It's Malia and and she's like being possessed by the Loa of Titolo.
Speaker: And then there's a moment where she recognizes that it's Gabe and they have this thing.
Speaker: They sure do, Kevin.
Speaker: They sure do.
Speaker: They make eye contact.
Speaker: It's lovely.
Speaker: Because they love each other.
Speaker: Obviously!
Speaker: Obviously, in the near 300 goddamn pages we've read, we've had seven dedicated to this riveting love story.
Speaker: And five of those were about them boning.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: The parallels between him and his grandfather are unbelievable.
Speaker: Unbelievable.
Speaker: Because their great love story was also intensely boring and underwritten.
Speaker: So it's just right on track.
Speaker: Absolutely.
Speaker: So anyway, that happens.
Speaker: And then Gabe is like, I got to get out of here.
Speaker: And he runs.
Speaker: And from what I understand, he basically runs into a tree trunk.
Speaker: Yeah, I think he hits his head on a branch while he's running.
Speaker: He just clotheslines himself.
Speaker: He's getting away.
Speaker: He clotheslines himself.
Speaker: But yeah, Tidolo has possessed Malia and is like, I can smell your... And it's like a real Emperor Palpatine voice suddenly.
Speaker: It's like, I can smell your blood.
Speaker: I thought you were going to take that in the silence of the lab's direction.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: No, I'm going in for a problem scene with this one.
Speaker: I can sniff the blood in the dark side.
Speaker: Which is basically all this is.
Speaker: It's like there's good voodoo and then there's the dark side voodoo.
Speaker: Yes, yes.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: It's basically what we're getting here.
Speaker: This is this is a classic example of cultural appropriation.
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: If you wanted to if you wanted to if you wanted to to to learn about cultural appropriation and really understand it's taking elements or aspects or a culture that isn't yours.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Using it for your own shit, but also at in this case, being really offensive about it.
Speaker: This is yes, this is this is what textbook case right here.
Speaker: Yes, it's it's.
Speaker: And I think when we talked about this briefly, I was explaining it to my wife.
Speaker: This is not her story to tell.
Speaker: Yes, exactly.
Speaker: We were pointing out in the last episode that this woman is from northeastern Pennsylvania.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: Has spent most of her time there and then moved out west, I want to say.
Speaker: Point is, she's not from New Orleans and she's not even from the deep south.
Speaker: Uh, she's not black.
Speaker: She's not a person of color.
Speaker: She's, she's, she doesn't have, it smacks of a person who went on a long weekend trip to new Orleans and took all the tours and took like crazy notes while they were there and then went ahead and wrote it just, it, it,
Speaker: To call it inauthentic is, it's like hilarious.
Speaker: It's like you see someone go to Taco Bell and you look at them and go, well, you know, Taco Bell isn't authentic Mexican, right?
Speaker: Like it's correct, but it's so stupid to even bring it up.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: This is one of the worst books we've ever read, but for a completely different reason than some of the other bad ones.
Speaker: Just a fair, fair warning to all y'all listening.
Speaker: It's probably only going to get worse from here.
Speaker: I have no reason to think it won't.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: And this is, as I pointed out, this is a 400 page book.
Speaker: It's longer than most of the books we read.
Speaker: As we are coming to find, there's no reason for it to be this long.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: But I did consider...
Speaker: breaking from our three episode format and doing 100 pages for each section for this guy.
Speaker: And now that we only have one more episode of this to do, I'm deeply glad that I didn't do that.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Thank God.
Speaker: We're just getting through it.
Speaker: You made the right call here.
Speaker: I think so This last section is like 20 pages Shorter than What we've read up till now So we are Going to break this things back and move On to a much better author
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So I don't understand how the person who owned this before me read it.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And we'll go from... All people's copies should look like mine.
Speaker: It should look pristine.
Speaker: Pristine.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It shouldn't even look like someone's like, look, there's a dent, like someone clearly dropped it.
Speaker: But otherwise, it looks like people didn't even look at it too hard.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: So that's how this book should be.
Speaker: Oy vey.
Speaker: So with that all being said, what are you playing?
Speaker: Oh, I am still playing Resident Evil 4, and I love it.
Speaker: I love it.
Speaker: I finally got through.
Speaker: I've been playing it real slow, and I got to... I finally found... What do they call her in the game?
Speaker: A little...
Speaker: Little Eagle.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: Baby Eagle.
Speaker: Baby Eagle, I think.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: I finally teamed up with the president's daughter, and I love their relationship now.
Speaker: It is way better.
Speaker: It's so lovely.
Speaker: She's so much better of a character.
Speaker: I finally got through this stupid fucking... the house is being clogged with zombies and we've got to nail up the windows.
Speaker: I hate that level.
Speaker: I finally got through there and... but I'm still loving it.
Speaker: This is... I don't know if it... I don't know if a remaster slash remake should go on a Game of the Year list, but I don't give a shit.
Speaker: It's probably going on mine at this point.
Speaker: Because it's just so good to play.
Speaker: And while I've been watching movies and stuff with the wife, I've actually been still playing my 3DS, and I'm playing the Ocarina of Time.
Speaker: Oh, that's awesome.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: I'm having so much fun.
Speaker: I'm still in boy link levels.
Speaker: Sure.
Speaker: which is simple and really, really fun, and you do a little portion here and there, and I've gotten just deep into it enough to ask myself the difficult question of, am I really gonna play through the Water Temple?
Speaker: Am I really going to play this?
Speaker: Am I going to really come in?
Speaker: Am I going to move on to another portable game when we get too into the adult Link stuff?
Speaker: I don't know yet.
Speaker: Stay tuned.
Speaker: Stay tuned.
Speaker: Stay tuned.
Speaker: But that's... So I'm playing... And it's the remake that 3DS did.
Speaker: So I'm playing a couple of remasters, basically.
Speaker: Yeah, the adult Link stuff in Ocarina of Time is when it starts getting like...
Speaker: spooky.
Speaker: It gets real creepy.
Speaker: It gets very real.
Speaker: You're basically in a post-apocalyptic Hyrule when you jump to Adult Link, if I recall correctly.
Speaker: You got the weird desiccated corpse things going through the streets.
Speaker: Those things.
Speaker: Those things are basically like the Ocarina of Time's version of Resident Evil 4's Regenerators.
Speaker: Pretty much.
Speaker: I mean, that's pretty much it.
Speaker: Which you'll get to eventually.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm not thrilled.
Speaker: I've seen, yeah.
Speaker: You've seen what the regenerators look like in the remake.
Speaker: I'm not excited about that one.
Speaker: Really enjoying it.
Speaker: So what about you, Kevin?
Speaker: What are you playing, my friend?
Speaker: I'm still playing Resident Evil 4.
Speaker: I mean, I've beaten it once already.
Speaker: I'm just going through and doing another playthrough, just trying to unlock some stuff because, you know, it's fun.
Speaker: It's super fun.
Speaker: There's a lot of stuff to do, and I know, I think,
Speaker: Is it tomorrow maybe?
Speaker: There's going to be an update.
Speaker: Well, tomorrow as of recording.
Speaker: There's going to be an update soon for Mercenaries, I think.
Speaker: Oh, good deal.
Speaker: So I think we'll be getting that soon.
Speaker: And it's been data mined that there's going to be a separate Waze DLC eventually.
Speaker: Oh, good.
Speaker: Okay, cool.
Speaker: So I think I'm just going to keep playing it.
Speaker: I also bought some Resident Evil games for cheap that I hadn't played before.
Speaker: Like Revelations 1 and 2 and Resident Evil.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: But yeah, so that's pretty much what I've been playing.
Speaker: Oh, and also this itch.io game.
Speaker: called Pacu Pacu which is I don't even it doesn't even show up on Google if you if you don't know I can send you a link to it but basically it's like and I'll probably I'm probably posting the show notes of this episode because basically it's it's like just two directional Pac-Man oh no you can only go left or right and I
Speaker: every time you collect, I think it's like 15 pellets, the pellets reset.
Speaker: There's always one power pellet and the ghost is chasing you.
Speaker: And so you can loop around, you can loop around the level from the other side.
Speaker: The ghost can't do that, but it's, um...
Speaker: It's fun, you know, it's and addicting and I should stop playing it because I'm becoming a little obsessed with trying to set a high score.
Speaker: Oh, sure.
Speaker: It's one of those, you know, because you're like, oh, if I just correct this one mistake, yeah, I can I can do better.
Speaker: That's the thing is like it's so gosh darn simple that you think if you can correct this one mistake, you'll be you'll be you'll be better at it.
Speaker: But then you make a different mistake the next time through.
Speaker: You'll be like, ah, my thumb slipped or something like that.
Speaker: And then you overthink your... And you get the rhythms in your head.
Speaker: That's how I've been with the shooting galleries in RE4.
Speaker: Oh, yes.
Speaker: The shooting galleries.
Speaker: Where I'm just like, okay, there's a pattern.
Speaker: It's going to be this.
Speaker: So do that and shoot the guy in the middle.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: I'm almost there.
Speaker: And then I get the S rank and I turn my computer off and I go take a nap because it's exhausting.
Speaker: It is exhausting.
Speaker: You deserve that nap, buddy.
Speaker: I really knew that you never never never shy away from that nap yeah but that's it that's that's that's what I've been playing good deal so that'll do it for tonight's episode thank you so much for listening if you can rate us five stars on Spotify Apple
