Challenges in Planning a Trip

00:00:47
Speaker
so i think liz and i were trying to plan a trip to forks and the olympic national park and then i'm so excited we're not sure yet i'm waiting for her to get back with me on like her husband's date since he's always gone like um for work um Just to make sure that like we don't plan all this stuff and like make payments on things and then have to cancel. So I'm still waiting to hear back on her, like from her on like dates. So I'm hoping that we can go either May or June is what we're looking at. So I'm really excited. I'm excited for you. Like a weekend in Forks. Sounds so much fun.
00:01:24
Speaker
i can't wait to see pictures. i know. I cannot wait. I just hope like the only thing is like I feel like it's probably peak probably travel season during that time. i don't care though. We're going because I'm ready to see Forks. We're going. so Yeah.
00:01:42
Speaker
Do you think that's like a high travel spot? I think so. Well, when we looked, at least for like Airbnbs and hotels are very expensive. And so I'm assuming that it is a high travel spot.
00:01:56
Speaker
But I guess we'll see. We wanted to stay in because they have a lot of lodges nearby. Like, know, like the old school lodges. I'm like, okay, I can live out, like, my best, like, shining experience kind of or, like, dirty dancing, like, type of situation. Yeah. But those are so expensive, like, to get a room.
00:02:17
Speaker
And so I'm like, well, let's Airbnb it, I guess. And so we wanted to stay because Bella's house is an Airbnb. It's very expensive. So we probably won't do that one either. But sometimes it's worth it for like one night.
00:02:30
Speaker
Yeah. Like we did that at the Crescent when we did our girls trip. We spent one night at the Crescent Hotel because it was expensive. And then we got an Airbnb for the rest of the time. and Maybe we'll look at that and do that. yeah And see if it's more Because maybe ah it's cheaper to do it that way where we spend one night at like one of the lodges or Bella's house. Yeah. And the other at another like Airbnb or hotel in the area. So yeah we'll see.
00:02:54
Speaker
But I'm excited. That'll be so much fun. Oh my God. When this releases, it'll be like, I'm just like talking about how May and June, it's March when we're recording this. Yeah. But it'll be like when this releases, our listeners will be like, okay, it literally is just May or June. Yeah. What are you want talking about?
00:03:14
Speaker
But yeah. and But also, I mean, back podcast related

Appreciation for Supporters

00:03:19
Speaker
stuff. We did want to do a shout out to our newest members on Patreon, Carrie, Annalise, Natalie, and Taylor.
00:03:26
Speaker
And then also Kay Bisco. I hope that I'm pronouncing that correctly on Buy Me A Coffee. Thank you so much for subscribing to the podcast, sending us a Buy Me A Coffee. We really appreciate it because every little bit does help, especially considering like We buy all of our equipment ourselves, all of the you know the things that we do. We pay for it out of pocket. So having any sort of donations to the podcast or subscriptions really help us.
00:03:53
Speaker
Yeah, and we appreciate you being here.

Frustrations with Supercast Changes

00:03:56
Speaker
i also wanted to bring up some changes at Supercast once again. i feel like I just did this. Yeah, which done, done. I I know. i know so we have a handful of you who listen to the podcast, who subscribe through Supercast, and I don't know what they're thinking over there, but right now they have, they've taken away posts completely and we now only have the community feature to use. And it works like a thread where, you know, you can post and everyone can comment and discuss back and forth. But the problem is, is that we give you guys, um,
00:04:39
Speaker
like subscriber perks for every tier. And in the community threads, we cannot designate the um specific things to specific subscriber tiers. So right now, like if I were to post something that only the charmed ones have access to as part of their subscription, everyone else also gets access to it with the way that Supercast is set up right now.
00:05:06
Speaker
I have reached out to them, but I don't know that they're going to care. They don't seem to care about what the creators want on their dashboards. So we'll see how that goes.
00:05:21
Speaker
But if they don't make any updates or changes right now, we're kind of at a loss at how to get you your like member specific information. items like their grimoire pages or the shadow work pages. So if you guys have any feedback super cast, you can send it to us. Or i would also suggest,
00:05:45
Speaker
commenting or not commenting, but messaging them on your dashboard about the things that you dislike about the platform. Because the changes that they're making don't make sense for a subscriber what do you like platform, I guess. Yeah. And it you know and trying to think of like some solutions to it. I mean, obviously, i guess at the end of the day, it might turn into a situation of Whoever subscribed on Supercast, if you want to keep Supercast, like we'll still have it open for you guys, but not take on any new subscribers specifically for Supercast. And then, you know, maybe we can work something out where it's like, okay, for these specific subscribers, we send an email with your perks or something. So you would have to keep up with like checking your emails frequently. But also that again, adds more stress on me and Tiffany since we both work full time and Yeah. It just makes it difficult. Not only that, but like now you're getting emails for your new episodes from yeah the platform. You're getting emails anytime we post a thread or a video or book club. And then you're going to also then get emails from us. So I don't know how many emails you even want to receive. that's too many, you know. And it's not like in a dedicated, at least with how Supercast used to be and how with Patreon, how we really enjoyed it is there's a one-stop location where all of this stuff is. So if you're at a point in your life where like say the Grimoire page comes out and you may not be in a space to like print it out or look at it or whatever, you can you know where you can go to always look back at it and you don't have to scroll through all of these emails to see if you missed something. Well, and too, like if it came down to we
00:07:30
Speaker
changed the structure on Supercast, you know, whether it's like one single membership and everybody has access to everything on Supercast, it also doesn't have a search feature anymore. Like the post used to have a search feature where you could type in grimoire and it would pull up all of the grimoire pages that we have posted. Whereas now threads doesn't have a search feature under the community.
00:07:55
Speaker
So you would literally also just have to scroll through any thread or post. So you I don't know. They are frustrating me with the changes. Patreon is so much smoother and more seamless.
00:08:11
Speaker
So I don't know. It's very frustrating. It is. But we'll keep you guys updated. And if you have any yeah feedback for us on it, let us know.
00:08:21
Speaker
Yeah. But we're not talking about Supercast and their dumb platform changes right now. no we're not. What are we talking about? So we are talking about Magical Timing, our part two of this episode, because there's just so much. Yeah. I know when we originally did this, we did not think that it would be too much for one episode.
00:08:47
Speaker
And then how many pages were the notes when you combine them? I don't even remember, but it was like a

Exploring Liminal Times in Magic

00:08:53
Speaker
lot. It was like a lot. Yeah. yeah It was a lot. Yeah. so So here we are again, part two. Yeah. Yeah, part two And honestly, yeah it's this probably going to be a shorter episode, but you know what? I would rather have two shorter episodes than one, like, hour and a half long episode, so. Yeah.
00:09:14
Speaker
So to kick this one off, for this episode, we're really going be focusing more on liminal, folk, and intuitive timing. And so when we're thinking about liminal, folk, and intuitive timing, these are things like, for instance, the witching hour. So traditionally, the minimal window from around midnight to 3 a.m. m is considered one of the most powerful times for magical workings.
00:09:38
Speaker
This is when the veil is thought to be the thinnest and the world is silent, allowing for distractions to diminish. This is also a great time to engage in divination, spirit communication, shadow work, dream magic, and intuition-based spells. Energy during this time is said to be inward, mysterious, and raw.
00:09:57
Speaker
And then just to break down the liminal times of day, first we have dawn. Dawn is the time of new beginnings and potential, and it's a moment of clarity and hope. It's often linked to fresh starts, growth, and setting intentions for the day ahead.
00:10:15
Speaker
The energy at dawn is considered to be full of promise, where the veil between the waking world and the unseen is thin, making it a powerful time for meditation, prayers, or manifestations.
00:10:28
Speaker
And as the first light breaks, it's seen as an opportunity to align with the forces of light and renewal, offering a clear moment for spiritual connection and the casting of spells for new beginnings.
00:10:42
Speaker
Dusk is a time of transformation where the day shifts into night, representing the closing of one cycle and the opening of another. This is a prime time for reflection, gratitude, and releasing what no longer serves you.
00:10:55
Speaker
The veil between worlds is believed to be thinner at dusk, allowing for easier communication with spirits, ancestors, or guides. This time is also seen as ideal for working with the energies of twilight when there is a balance between light and dark, and it's a time for embracing both the known and the unknown.
00:11:16
Speaker
So twilight is the period between dusk and midnight, and this holds a unique magic in itself where both light and dark energies are present. It's a time of balance and transformation where witches can work on harmonizing opposing forces. The energy of twilight can be used for rituals that require both clarity and mystery, such as divination, protection magic, or rituals focused on duality and balance.
00:11:44
Speaker
This time is also believed to be a point of spiritual fluidity, where boundaries between the physical and the spiritual realms are softer, making it ideal for astral travel or contacting spirits.
00:11:58
Speaker
The next one is noon, and noon is a time full of illuminations, where the sun is at its highest, symbolizing clarity, strength, and vitality. It's often associated with empowerment and bringing ideas into the light.
00:12:13
Speaker
Magic performed at noon is thought to harness the energy of the sun, ideal for spells of success, growth, and creative endeavors. This is a time of action and manifestation, where intentions can be brought to life with their full force of the midday sun.
00:12:30
Speaker
The next is midnight. Midnight is considered the start of the witching hour, as Sam has already said, where the forces of magic are heightened and the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest.
00:12:42
Speaker
It's seen as a time of intense power, ideal for working with darker aspects of magic. Midnight is often associated with deep mysteries, revelations, and powerful rituals, especially those focused on transformation, divination, and shadow work.
00:13:01
Speaker
This liminal time represents the crossing of boundaries, whether it's a boundary between realms, self-discovery, or breaking through spiritual barriers. So then there's the in-between moment, and this is just before falling asleep or waking up. These moments where you're not fully awake and not like fully asleep either are seen as times of heightened intuition and connection to the subconscious.
00:13:26
Speaker
It's a moment when magic can be most potent because the mind is relaxed and the veil is thinner. This between state is often used for lucid dreaming, divination, or setting intentions that may be more easily received by the universe due to the mind's openness.
00:13:45
Speaker
It's also a time for clarity and guidance, where spells for insight, dreams, or understanding may be most successful.

Life Transitions as Magical Timing

00:13:53
Speaker
Another folk or intuitive time that you can work with is seasonal timing. And this is working along the wheel of the year, and it can be another powerful way to magically time your workings, especially if you practice along the wheel of the year already.
00:14:07
Speaker
So i'm not going to go into depth on the wheel of the year because we discussed this back in season one episode nine, but I will give a very brief overview of the types of spells that would be best for each of the Sabbaths along the wheel of the year.
00:14:19
Speaker
So starting with Yule, Yule is all about rebirth and the return of light of the light. This is perfect for workings on hope, renewal, and intention setting. Imbolc is a great time of year to focus on cleansing, purification, inspiration, new beginnings, and creativity spells.
00:14:39
Speaker
Ostara is a great time to do working centered on balance, fertility, growth, and fresh starts. Beltane, which will be the Sabbath that has just passed, um is a great time to focus on workings that are related to passion magic, love spells, creativity, vitality, and abundance. Litha, which will be the next Sabbath that is coming up. This is a great opportunity to center your work on confidence, manifestation, empowerment, and solar magic.
00:15:12
Speaker
Lunasad is a great time to focus your workings on gratitude, prosperity, and recognizing what has come to fruition in your life. Mabon is a perfect time for releasing work, recalibration, as well as ancestor honoring and gratitude. And then lastly, along the Wheel of the Year, we have Samhain. And this is a perfect time for shadow work, spirit communication, ancestor magic, endings, and also deep transformation.
00:15:40
Speaker
The next set of magical timing is going to be centered around life transitions. The first is birth. so birth represents the beginning of a new cycle and is considered one of the most powerful times for new beginnings and creation. It's a moment of pure potential.
00:15:58
Speaker
making it ideal for spells focused on growth, creativity, and manifestation. In many practices, birth is also linked to the arrival of new energies into the world, often invoking deities or spirits associated with fertility, renewal, and creation.
00:16:15
Speaker
The act of welcoming a new life is viewed as a sacred moment where the energies of the universe align to bring fresh potential, and magic done at this time can deeply influence the future.
00:16:28
Speaker
The next is death, and death is seen as a profound transition between life and the spirit world, where the boundaries between the physical and the spiritual realms are thinned. It's a potent time for ancestral work, spirit communication, and honoring those that have passed.
00:16:44
Speaker
This time is often viewed as one for transformation, endings, and closure. It's a powerful moment for spells of release, forgiveness, and letting go of old energies or relationships.
00:16:57
Speaker
Death can also be a time to work on personal transformation as it symbolizes the end of one phase and the potential for new beginnings. just like the death of old habits or patterns in one's life.
00:17:10
Speaker
The next is going to be marriage. So marriage as a union of two individuals is a powerful time for binding spells, protection rituals, and spells to strengthen relationships.
00:17:22
Speaker
It's seen as a sacred bond and magic performed during this time can help fortify the connections. The energy surrounding marriage is often connected to love, loyalty, and partnership.
00:17:34
Speaker
It's a good time to call upon deities or energies that represent commitment, unity, and growth within a shared life. It's also a moment of personal transition where one's identity may shift to encompass new rules. Marriage rituals can also be used to set intentions for a harmonious or prosperous future. The next one is divorce. So divorce represents the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. and it can be an empowering time for self-liberation, renewal, and reclaiming personal energy.
00:18:09
Speaker
Magic done during divorce can help in releasing old attachments and clearing emotional blockages. This transition is often tied to the themes of closure, healing, and independence.
00:18:22
Speaker
Spells during this time may focus on emotional release, self-love, and breaking unhealthy ties. Divorce is also seen as an opportunity for personal reinvention as it marks a moment to reclaim one's personal power and move forward with clarity and strength.
00:18:40
Speaker
Another one is going to be moving. So moving signifies a major shift in one's environment, which brings new energies and opportunities. It's seen as a fresh start, making it a perfect time to perform spells for new beginnings, personal growth, and creating harmony in the new space.
00:18:59
Speaker
The transition of moving can be a time for cleansing and protection, with rituals focused on clearing out old energies from the previous home and invoking positive, welcoming energies in the new space.
00:19:14
Speaker
It's also an opportunity for personal transformation, aligning oneself with new surroundings and establishing a new rhythm in life. Next, we have a change in career. So a job change represents a shift in purpose, identity, and financial flow. And this is an excellent time to perform spells for career success, abundance, and aligning with one's true calling.
00:19:39
Speaker
Magic during job transitions can focus on setting clear intentions for success, gaining confidence, and making a positive impression in a new environment.
00:19:50
Speaker
Job changes are also often tied to themes of personal growth and can be used as a time to clear out limiting beliefs or fears related to success and professional identity.

Menstrual and Hormonal Cycles in Magic

00:20:02
Speaker
And last in this section, we have illness and healing. So illness marks a time of physical or emotional disruption, and healing spells during this time can be incredibly potent.
00:20:15
Speaker
Magic for healing is focused on restoring balance and vitality, whether through herbal remedies, spiritual energy work, or restorative rituals. Illness is also seen as a time for introspection, and magical timing around healing can involve self-reflection, the release of negative energies, and deepening one's connection to inner strength.
00:20:36
Speaker
This transition can be a catalyst for self-care change in lifestyle, and setting intentions for long-term health and well-being. Next, we're going to focus on menstrual and hormonal changes. This is another deeply personal form of magical timing that involves working with your menstrual and hormonal cycles, reflected through the archetype of the maiden mother and crone framework, which I think is really interesting. But I wanted to preface this as well. We did a full episode on a minstrel and blood magic. I can't remember which season it was in but it was episode 167. So if you haven't listened to that episode, go back and listen to it as well, because it does give some in more insights because this is just the wavetops.
00:21:20
Speaker
So as far as the maiden phase, this is linked to the follicular phase or just after menstruation. And this is ideal for new beginnings, learning, creativity, and intention setting.
00:21:33
Speaker
The mother phase, which is aligned with ovulation, supports manifestation, attraction, confidence, and nurturing magic. And then the crone phase, which is aligned with menstruation or the luteal phase, is associated with release, turning inward, shadow work, rest, divination, and wisdom seeking. And I just love, like I just want to say, like I absolutely love this idea of using magical timing with, like if you are somebody who does menstruate, like using that as part of your magical practice because it makes you not just more grounded,
00:22:10
Speaker
but more aware of what's happening within your own body. And like we always say like your intention and your energy is more powerful than anything else. The fact that like you could use these hormonal changes that we have every 28 days as a way to help out in your magical workings, I think is just fucking brilliant.
00:22:31
Speaker
Yeah, I do love that. Okay, here we go again. Okay. Last up, we have weather and natural elements, timing.

Harnessing Natural Elements for Magic

00:22:44
Speaker
So first is going to be storm magic. Storms are seen as powerful chaotic forces that symbolize both destruction and renewal. Magic performed during storms harnesses the raw energy for spells of transformation, breaking through obstacles, or releasing stagnant energy.
00:23:02
Speaker
Storms often represent intense emotional releases And working with this energy can amplify rituals for cleansing, banishing, or even emotional catharsis.
00:23:13
Speaker
Thunder and lightning are frequently linked with lightning fast change, sudden breakthroughs, and calling upon deities of strength, power, or change. Storm magic can also be used to charge crystals or empower spells that need intense, sudden energy.
00:23:31
Speaker
The next is the first frost. So the first frost marks the transition between the warmth of the growing season and the cold of winter, symbolizing endings, rest, and reflection.
00:23:44
Speaker
This is a time of letting go, where magic can focus on cleansing, releasing the old, and preparing for the quiet introspective months ahead. Frost is often associated with the stillness of winter and the quieting of the earth.
00:23:59
Speaker
It can be a powerful time for spells related to protection, preservation, and freezing negative energies or situations in place. The crispness of the first frost invites renewal, making it an excellent time for planning, strategic thinking, and grounding, as well as for rituals that focus on mental clarity and emotional resilience.
00:24:21
Speaker
And then last, we have first bloom. So the first bloom signifies the return of life, growth, and rebirth. This is a potent time for spells of new beginnings, manifestations, and the sowing of seeds for future goals.
00:24:35
Speaker
It's seen as a magical moment for planting both literal and metaphorical seeds. The energy of the first bloom is filled with potential as the earth awakens from the dormancy of winter. Magic at this time can focus on fertility, creativity, and revitalization.
00:24:53
Speaker
The first bloom also represents hope, renewal, and rejuvenation, making it an ideal time for spells aimed at healing, emotional growth, and embracing new opportunities.
00:25:04
Speaker
But that's it. That is magical timing. That is magical timing. A nice, short, sweet episode to follow up with our part one. And we'll see you guys next week.
00:25:16
Speaker
Bye. Bye.
