This week on Calcio Culture, Vos, Motts, and Logs deliver a powerhouse episode packed with news, analysis, and betting insights for fans of Italian football.

The episode kicks off with Quick Shouts as Udine secures hosting rights for the Super Cup, Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz captures the prestigious Golden Boy Award, and Ademola Lookman’s stellar season earns him the African player of the year. Adding to the buzz, rumors swirl around Roma’s interest in Massimiliano Allegri as their next managerial move.

It was a wild ride across Serie A during Match Week 16. Inter put on a dazzling display, demolishing Lazio 6-0 . Milan reshuffled their lineup, benching Theo Hernández while giving the armband to Rafael Leão, but they struggled to a 0-0 draw against Genoa. Napoli returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-1 victory over Udinese, while Fiorentina faltered in a 0-1 loss to Bologna. Roma suffered a shocking 0-2 defeat at Como, with Gabrielloni stealing the headlines, and Juventus remained shaky with a 2-2 draw against Venezia. Meanwhile, Verona edged Parma 3-2 in a thrilling contest to round out a dramatic week.

The Champions League served up high-stakes action as Inter fell 0-1 at Bayer Leverkusen, while Juventus stunned Manchester City 2-0 with a tactical masterclass at the Allianz Stadium. Real Madrid narrowly edged Atalanta 3-2 in a back-and-forth affair. In the Europa League, Roma cruised past Braga with a dominant 3-0 performance, and Lazio outplayed Ajax in a commanding 3-1 win. Meanwhile, Fiorentina obliterated LASK 7-0 in Austria during the Conference League, cementing their place as favorites in the competition.

Looking ahead to Match Week 17, the team previews pivotal clashes across Serie A. Can AC Milan bounce back against Verona? Bologna looks to build on their momentum as they take on Torino, while Juventus faces Monza in a must-win encounter. Como braces for Inter’s unstoppable attack, and fiery matchups include Napoli vs. Genoa and Lazio’s battle with Lecce. Fans won’t want to miss these critical games as the league table continues to shift.

Speaker
Ouchos everywhere. You really can't get away from it. Ciao tutti. Good to be back. Sorry about last week. Had a recovery. Had to recover from the week the week before. How's the laryngitis? Laryngitis is really tough this week now. I'm just going back to back sickness first. I'm just emptying my stomach all over the place and now I'm just off and up a along. So all my organs are out to play, but good to be back on it.
00:00:48
Speaker
Very nice to to know your health update logs. We appreciate that. I'm sure the Paisanos are very appreciative of that as well.

Personal Milestones Celebration

00:00:55
Speaker
I'm doing i'm doing good. We're healthy. All things healthy. Got the holiday party this this week for the for the work. So looking forward to that. Other than that, just kind of going through the motions. Big news from Vosto. Big news from Vost camp today or this weekend. we we have We have one of the longest shouts that we're ever going to have.
00:01:16
Speaker
Congrats to the Vos himself on the big engagement. Popped the question. Thankfully, she said yes. The ring is on the Fingy. Congrats, big guy. Congratulations. Yeah, we got we got diamonds on Fingy's over here. So it's grooming. Well, I guess we'll call it a success.

Calcho Focus Begins

00:01:36
Speaker
But we're here to talk about Cal show and let's get into it. We got a lot to talk about today. We got some Colby updates. We talked a little bit of champions league that we missed Europa league conference league. Then we got match week 16 to talk about. We have cool, but Talia midweek and then we have match week 17 at the week end. Pawn a ton to get through it now. Had an insane amount of competitions.
00:02:01
Speaker
The rose is back, so we got to bring back his his segment, Quick Shouts, and it's all you. Here we go. First Quick Shout kicking off this week. Quick Shout, Lecky. Congrats to Lecky as well. Another pie is on in the making. But in any case, onto our second Quick Shout. We have a kit check, kit check, kit check. Two kits this weekend were debuted.
00:02:26
Speaker
this first one out of Venice, Venetia. They've actually done this before. They went with a little light blue alternate third kit. Kind of steeze. Kind of steeze. Drake obviously having huge influence for Venetia these days. So, kits are looking fine. Their results out of the weekend not looking so far in usually. Mirths might have a different opinion this week. It was a great, great one. But but great kits, great to see that they're at least trying to stunt on them, hopes. Other kit that came out this weekend, which I'm not really a fan of, I don't really like that they did it, it's obviously just a huge throwback for them, but AC had a, happy birthday AC, 125 years old now, they had a new kit released, they had all their boys back, Alexander Potto actually was rushed to death in this kit, but still quite a new life. You just said you weren't a fan of it.
00:03:22
Speaker
well Alexander Potto was rocketed, but the rest of the squad was not looking like this. I hated it. It was one of the robot the worst looking kits I think I've seen in a long time. Do something way better. like You don't have to just make your kit look like it was built in 1915. I think that was the point of the dub. I know, but make it clear. Who's buying that? the point yeah who's buying that Yeah, probably nobody. What's with some like gold? You know what I mean? Like, gold in a kit always looks so good. Yeah, except some turk in vibes. I think there needs to be a rule that you can't throw gold in it unless you win. Once you won or something. Yeah. But yeah, gold always works. But even though, and speaking about kits, I think I saw UVA and Inter coming out with two more.

Kit Design Debates

00:04:05
Speaker
The UVA one is sick. It's like their third one, like that that one that has a collar. I don't know what it talks about but it's or what it's called, but it's with no collar.
00:04:14
Speaker
So I might have to put your gun that one that you should pull trigger on yeah and the inches got one too. That looks pretty nice ah It's all white with like blue lines on it. Pretty cool. Could catch me dead complimenting

Italian Football Highlights

00:04:25
Speaker
it intricate. So we'll true from there Another quick shout here just in the vein of growing the game The super cup has been announced and it'll be held in oodame. That is the home of oodame say for you folks back home Who don't understand what I'm saying?
00:04:41
Speaker
The lads are loving Italy these days. Supercup coming to Italy, the Italian national team on the up, Serie A, second best league in the world. I mean, best league in the world. Best league in the world. What can we do here? What do you mean second best league in the world? Best league in the world. By funding at least. Yeah, we don't have the best marketing, that's for sure.
00:05:00
Speaker
Yeah, I think the other thing that people don't know is know about the Oudenais Stadium. That's like a world famous, it's it's a legit stadium. This isn't like a, we'll throw this to some random team in the Eastern Bloc kind of thing. Like just a good stadium. It's a really good stadium. Really happy it's happening. The Italian national team play that regularly because of our bit of a stadium it is. So it's just cool culture is coming back to Italy. We're seeing it more and more.
00:05:25
Speaker
Yeah, this is one stadium in Italy that all the bleachers and seats can be filled. There's no section that's off limits. Okay, Corin. Very, very good. law Super important to fill the whole stadium. In any case, movie earned.

Golden Boy Award Discussion

00:05:41
Speaker
Now, I'll keep this to Motz because... Motz, what? Reiki Dink award did he yield these wins? And where did it come from? And why is this not part of the regular Ballon d'Or awards?
00:05:51
Speaker
This is not a rinky-dink award. This is a major award in European football. The Golden Boy Award. You look up the history of it. The last couple of winners were Holland, Jude Bellingham, Yimin Yamal. I'm trying to think of some others, but it's a it's a dreamy thousand it's a pretty prestigious award. Award that was given to Keenan Yildiz this year and they typically get it right in terms of who's giving it who they give it to Typically has a very very good career So little foreshadowing so it's let me read you the last one since 2017 that have won it and Bape was 17 the lit 18 jiao Felix 19 Erling hollering 2020 Pedri 2021 Gavi 2022 Jude Bellingham 2023 and Lamenia Mall 2024 It's pretty solid list
00:06:43
Speaker
Did La Minamole win it this year then? Yeah, La Minamole won it, but Yieldy's got like the, there was like a, you know how like the Ballon d'Or is like a, what's the right, like critics vote for it. That's like the golden boy. And then Ken and Yieldy's won the popular vote is the way like you're thinking about it. People voted for Ken on Yieldy's to win it, but the critics voted for La Minamole to win it is kind of how it worked. god Got it. Got it.
00:07:11
Speaker
I love Kenan and Yieldy's. Laminium all definitely deserves both. For sure. Yeah, I'm not changing. Yieldy's is cool. I think this gives us a second then to talk about Yieldy's because He has been a bright spot on UVA pretty much all season, I would say, and I think anybody that has watched him even slightly, especially Paul Scholes after this week, this past week, like you see what's there and it's going to get there. I think if you put him into a team that's a little bit better than UVA is right now, you even see that more so. I mean, if you put Yieldy's into what Barcelona is, I think he's probably doing similar things. So we'll meet him all, in my opinion.
00:07:49
Speaker
We'll get there with our team. Don't worry. He's going to get there. He's exciting to watch. he's And he's also, I think, because of where we're at, he's getting a lot of lot of playing time, which maybe at Barcelona, he might not get all this playing time. And same with, like, look at Artur Goulert and Madrid. He's obviously super talented, but can't get on the pitch because of all the talent. So I think, yo, this isn't a great spot. He loves UVA. He says he wants to stay here for the future. He says his idol was Alessandro del Piero.
00:08:19
Speaker
ah excited to see his future and how he grows in the coming years.

Managerial Rumors and Critiques

00:08:25
Speaker
Yeah, and he's only 19. So, but absolutely so which room to grow. But back to some real awards. The African Ballon d'Or was announced today. And Adam Luchman takes it home for his phenomenal 2024. The guy was all over the place. African Cup, I believe was earlier this year. Serie A team this season. You name it, he won it. And he's at Atlanta's best player at this point, aside from Rotegi.
00:08:53
Speaker
But i I think there's an argument. But the Ballandor African goes to none other than Luckman. Vos, I know you are a huge, huge failure. Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Look Man. I'm a huge fan of, I always forget what the African Federation is called. But I really like a lot of the African players and i I like when they get more opportunities. I think Red Bull does it really well. They bring a lot of those guys through. And I just think African players in general need to be more incorporated into like some of the larger clubs because they are kind of not a lot of time. I don't really know why.
00:09:29
Speaker
um where They just bring something else to the game and there just tend to be really good players that kind of go under the radar. Which is why I do like that they are kind of giving their own Ballon d'Or. Because a lot of times these guys aren't thrown in the mix because they do have a tendency to give the award to like a French player or a Spanish player over other people for some reason. I mean obviously Messi's been in there but there is definitely a bias and it's been there.
00:09:53
Speaker
But Lookman absolutely deserves this. I can't even name another African player that's head close to any type of season that touches Lookman. I mean, the last guy that did anything similar is Victor Ozzingman, and he's kind of...
00:10:04
Speaker
I guess, falling off the face of the earth a little bit. I mean, in the next month or so, we're going to have a bigger discussion on him, I'm sure, in the January window. In some clothes, it's going to make a big splash there. Technically, Mo Salah is in the... Yeah, that's you, Mo Salah. He's could have won it. I remember a couple of years ago, Sadio Manic, I think won it, or maybe Salah won it and Manic came in second. Those two tore it up a couple of years ago, and Salah just seems to be scoring every game.
00:10:31
Speaker
But Lookman did win the European ah or the Europa League, scored a hat-trick, obviously had a great season. So I think it's well deserved to go to him because last year Liverpool didn't do too much. This coming 2024, 2025 season, it seems like Salah's already got it locked down. He's got a re-mail.
00:10:54
Speaker
So congrats to Luckman, way to rep Syria, especially after Victor leaving and picking up the space there. Last quick shout from my end, and I'll end it off to monster breaking this news to us, but Roma in on Allegri.
00:11:12
Speaker
And I just lied to you guys. I think Vos broke that news, but I would love to hear Monza's opinion here because that is his daddy. I would love to hear my opinion first because this makes me and so mad. I can't even fathom.
00:11:27
Speaker
that not only that this was discussed in Rome, but the fact that it's been discussed enough and taken seriously enough that there are real links. Like, what are you thinking as a club? Like, you have a, you have a year to pick your next manager, to build the team that is very young. Like the core group ah at Rome, like you take out Diabala and like Montrini, some of those guys, but all the pieces that they've added are young guys that are going to build for the future.
00:11:58
Speaker
How are you not looking for a manager that is going to build this team over the next, I don't know, three, five, eight years. Like that is exactly what you Ventus are doing. And it you can see what's going on, how it's going to work. How, how do you go like, I literally can't even fathom.
00:12:15
Speaker
what like you're when you're selling this to the board we want allegory for x y z over pretty much name anybody else what is on the board of that allegory is going to get you that somebody else doesn't because i have no idea Yeah, and just piggyback off of that, i I would say, why are you making or trying to make this decision this early on? Like, you know, coaches and managers are going to be sacked this coming summer as they always are and more will be open to for hire. And right now you're making a decision with somebody who is open because he has no job, right? So
00:12:53
Speaker
It's kind of like why are you making this decision? Also just knowing who Allegri is, right? Does not ever play young players. Does not make them into becoming better players. He takes older guys and he can he's a man manager. He's not a developer. he needs You need to give him finished products for him to get the best out of them because he's not going to develop guys. And Roma are always developing younger players.
00:13:20
Speaker
And also, you're not going to like the way that he plays soccer. He's defend, defend, defend, defend. Ten men behind the ball at all times. It's not going to be fun to watch. I don't think it's going to be a successful appointing. If it happens, I think he'll fail there miserably.
00:13:35
Speaker
But maybe I'm wrong.

Roma's Managerial Strategy

00:13:37
Speaker
There were so many guys that I can think of off the top of my head that I would have rather gone down this route with that I think they could very much get, including Pioli. I think Pioli would be a great appointment for this team. He would play all the young guys playing in the right position. That's a much better point than Allegrian. Yeah, but he just went to Saudi and I'm sure he's getting... People go in and out of Saudi all the time, especially managers. But I'm sure he's getting like 15, 20 million a year.
00:14:01
Speaker
Yeah, but some guys, it's different. Like, they'll they'll take that as like a placeholder and then they're they're ready to come back. The other guy that I would even like more than this is Gilardinho, and he's never managed a major club. Like, I would have more confidence in that project than the Allegri project. And then number two, on top of all of this, what is Allegri doing different than what you got out of De Rossi? Not much. Like, obviously they're getting a result a different way, but the end result is what you would have had with Allegri. So what are you trying to do?
00:14:32
Speaker
I don't even think he would do as good as the Rosi because the Rosi made them score goals and Allegri's not going to do that. Maybe he'll make them win games, but the way that the game has changed and evolved, even in Italy, it's not Corto Musso, 1-0, win, score a goal and park the bus, or invite the other team to to try to score and try to break you down because they will eventually break you down and they will eventually score as we see so many times.
00:14:58
Speaker
and Allegri is very much 2010 soccer that and hasn't changed his philosophy and you saw that at Juventus and what would make you think he would change his philosophy? He never did it, he never changed it at UVA.
00:15:12
Speaker
i mean also move on just the so those moons I was just going to say also my point about you have to pay Pioli a lot. Allegri is going to demand a lot because he's won so much. Scudec doesn't so much trophies. He's not going to be a cheap hire. You're already paying three other managers. Right. So what like I don't it doesn't make sense financially. It doesn't make sense on the pitch. It doesn't make sense to develop players. It doesn't at any no matter which way you try to spin it or which way you turn. It does not make sense. And even though it's so much worse when do you look at what other clubs did in the summer, like Fiorentina went further down the table, got Palladino, Bologna, saw what Fiorentino could do with Italiano, got Italiano. Like, there are guys in the league right now, says Fabregas.
00:15:55
Speaker
great appointment at Roma. He would turn this team around I think very quickly if he got him a full summer with the team and I think that's something they could probably get done if they wanted to. Nesta at Monza is another one. Fabio Pachecki at Parma is another one. like These are all good coaches that are modern era, forward-thinking, developing your club into a super club that you want to be. If they hired Allegri, they would be set back a lot of years. And that's assuming they stay up this year.
00:16:25
Speaker
Yeah, know not to belabor this one, but I think you wait a little bit too far to the left. I think there's there's other managers out there where they can handle this kind of a spotlight. They have a little bit more of a track record than a Nesta or a Faber Gas.
00:16:41
Speaker
but they're not they're not granddads like Allegri. I'd be interested to see Deserby, honestly, come back to Serie A. I think that's a good name. Obviously, he's been struggling in Ligue 1, but his his time at Saas and his time at Brighton were certainly promising. I think that this will be a good next step for Deserby. I thought he was coming back to Serie A even for this season, but I think it'd be definitely interesting to see him come, get a ah fresh squad like this, get his hands on and some of those guys and see if he can't bring Deserby Ball to to the Capitol.
00:17:10
Speaker
I mean, that's what i that's what I said that they should have done this summer in our preview episode six months ago. I said that that is who they should have gone all in on and stacked the roster and they get it. But there's just there's going to be a guy in the summer that maybe shouldn't have been for sacked and was that you can scoop up being the club that you are as Roma that can push you to a better place than you are than a leg who's going to be able to.
00:17:35
Speaker
I mean, is Grand Potter an option at this point? I don't think so. I mean, even José would be bring him back before you do Alegria. Alegria is a worse version of lying. Yeah, exactly. Precisely. did This just makes no sense. It's like nauseating. I don't know if he's in charge or whatever. This is ridiculous, though.

Transfer Hypotheticals

00:17:55
Speaker
Let the people pick. Speaking of the people, Paisans, let us know what you think. Give us some shouts. Let us know if you want to be appointed in Roma. lot A lot of different takes here, so we'd love to hear from you guys. I have one more question for Paisans and for you guys. this has There's no good segue into this, but it's been plaguing me all week, and I want to give both your opinions, because I think it's a good question, and I don't know what the right answer is.
00:18:22
Speaker
I'll start with Mott's on this one. I don't know where where this question came from in my mind. As a UVA fan, would you swap Pulisic or Cambiazzo for Pulisic? This isn't a random question, I know. No. Well, do you as a mo Milan fan, would you swap Pulisic for Cambiazzo?
00:18:44
Speaker
I don't think that makes sense for U of A at all. Does it make sense for me, Lon? I think I would love it. I mean, the only the only selling point from a U of A standpoint is like, look at the look at the Americans going to work for U of A right now. I think it's just it's just automatic chemistry. You saw what Waya did with McKinney against Man City. I think that they can replicate it. And they're all boys from that sense. And to be honest, most of the weak points on AC can be also complaining all of them. They can play left back, right back, right wing. So like it'd be a perfect fit there. So from my standpoint, I would 100% do it because I think that
00:19:21
Speaker
not Not that Pulisic hasn't been phenomenal for us, but I think it's replaceable. yeah I don't think that the talent and in the skill set that Kambiaso brings is entirely replaceable. Being being that outside back in with with the ability to invert, but also being an attacking style player when needed, that's and that's few and far between. But an electric winger who can play the tenon and get hot, that's you can certainly find that.
00:19:49
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. Kamiaso can play left back, right back, center mid, right wing, left wing. We have, Juventus has enough right wings, left wings to go around. Like, Konstantin Sal is playing great. We have Yieldiz. Weias even stepped in and got four goals and two assists this season. Nico Gonzalez is injury prone, but he can step in and do that as well. So I would not flop that, make that switch. I was supposed to say, and I just don't know if this is, this might be well known, I don't know, this a hot take or not, but.
00:20:19
Speaker
I don't think it should be understated how important heavy Italians are on the roster for a Serie A team. Also, the way that Juventus bought Cambiazzo for like eight mil, that's like the best bit of business they've ever done in the history of Juventus, buying that guy and making him who he is. so cobra Oh, yeah, Pogba was really good as well.
00:20:38
Speaker
Yeah, it's an interesting question because the reason I was thinking about it is kind of the way, I don't know if it's Western media, that's kind of like your career, that's such a buzzword, but like the media has portrayed pool stitch. In my mind, I agree with you guys. Like to I would rather have ambience still.
00:20:55
Speaker
And we're like, pull us. It's just been phenomenal this season, but I i think still. It's like he's, he's good. Right. And Kombi also is like going to be a generational talent. We can see it now. And I i just think it's an interesting comparison because I thought, I don't know, similar level and pool stitches come to the hottest it's ever been.
00:21:12
Speaker
Yeah, also, Kambioso has been, and to your point about the generational talent, he's been linked to Citi and Madrid, and he's said, like, Juventus is my Real Madrid, so you don't want to let that guy that let that go. A guy with a mindset that, like, this there's no other bigger club that I'd rather play with than Juventus. He's gonna be the captain of Juventus in, like, two, three years.

Betting Success and Strategies

00:21:33
Speaker
You could see what he's gonna be and talent-wise, so no shot. Cool. Monster the stats, guys, so we'll move on to you here.
00:21:40
Speaker
Um, update on the Colpy, Colpy De Luna. Want to hit the button? Colpy De Luna. Oh, I forgot we had the one. Colpy De Luna. Big, big, big news out of the Colby points. Big win. Big, big news. Another win that makes two Colpys out of the last four, which means we're a three and oh. And what was our overall record, 20 and 24 last week? So that means we're overall 23 and 24.

Calcho League Updates

00:22:06
Speaker
We are 10 of our last, 10 and two in our last 12. So we are on a fire. No, that's insane. That's insane. No, that's insane.
00:22:18
Speaker
I mean, I don't know if we can keep this up. it i Like the stats say, yeah, me and Matz have hit our last four legs each. So eight eight of the last 12 legs, right? And I've hit six in a row. And I've hit five in a row. Yeah. So we're on fire. you're No, you're you're two of your last four. Like this is insane form. We had to make up for how poor our form was in the beginning of the season.
00:22:44
Speaker
Yeah, and I stopped rooting for Colmo in the Colpey, so we're in better terms, although... But see, what happens when you don't bet Colmo... Logs, you did throw. How much did you throw in the Colpey this week? I'm a stout $50 Colpey player. And how much did you win?
00:22:58
Speaker
We brought back in 329, baby. That's after that fanatics double, out the fanatics boost. Always put the boost on the Colby, because that's always going to give you a little little nice thing in the end. That's a haul. That's a haul there. I mean, we are clearly, if you took every single one, we're probably still a little bit in the negative, but we are almost almost there for sure in terms of being positive for the year.
00:23:21
Speaker
All that means is get earned the train or get run over by Culpe de Luna. Perfect. I don't think it could be over said how good 10 and 2 is in last 12. No, that's insane. not Not possible to keep that up, but we'll see. And that's why we're here. That's why we're getting into this next part of the show.
00:23:38
Speaker
We're talking about couch. We're just not talking about random bullshit. There's games that happened last week that we need to talk about. There's games happening this week. We need to talk about, that's why we're here. Um, and that's why I kicked things off with the European games we missed last week. Me and Matz came on the horn, I think Monday afternoon, Tuesday afternoon.
00:23:54

I think it was Tuesday afternoon. So we missed a couple of Champions League games, we didn't see the Europa League. So Inter Milan went to Leverkusen, lost that 1-1 nothing, made me look really dumb because they said they were way better than Leverkusen, they couldn't get it done there. But a 1-0 went away from home was bound to happen. I think this was their first loss in Europe. And it may have also been the first goal conceded in this game.
00:24:14
Speaker
Yeah, and it was. So they're still not like they got embarrassed. They were in the game. One nothing. yeah And they come they were probably going for a draw. That seems to have been their recipe so far this year in the Champions League is draws away wins at home. That's kind of what they're doing. It's very sad, right? That's kind of classic soccer. Real Madrid went to Atalanta. This game was a shootout. This was an amazing game.
00:24:37
Speaker
They at Atlanta lost three to two big point. Mateo Rotegi missed an absolute sitter in the last like five minutes that would have leveled it. And that's kind of been a theme over the last couple of weeks. He's been playing a little bit less and has been way less clinical. So something you just watch there. ah But this is a very telling story of what, what Adalanta was at the beginning of the season versus now. They kind of got their, their doors kicked in and the super cup before the season started. And now flipping and they play a round maturity again and could have won this game, should have drawn this game realistically.
00:25:11
Speaker
Yeah, also Vanishes was hurt for Madrid for a little bit. He did play this game and they obviously struggled to guard him because he's just so electric down that left-hand side. But listen, this is Real Madrid obviously the winner and defending champs of the Champions League. Not an easy team to go and they were away. Were they home?
00:25:29
Speaker
yeah they were going and home man Not an easy team to just play Real Madrid at all. They could have tied it. Ritaghi, you need to finish that. Doesn't matter the moment. like You need to finish that. Then you're coming away with the point and you are in fantastic shape. But nothing to like get worried about losing to Real Madrid.
00:25:50
Speaker
No, I think I think it's a great measuring stick, honestly, just from where I went into was the beginning of the season till now, certainly jelly more. And I mean, they when you play a team twice, even though it was a preseason game, but we'll call it preseason game. But I think it's, you know, it's really good to see them as they've.
00:26:05
Speaker
as they've progressed, as they brought in new players, they've had to rotate a lot. Obviously, a lot of their key players now were not here for the Super Cup, so ah good to see them growing. The point I'll make here is, is this what what does this mean for AC's comparison to Adelanta? Sure, Adelanta wins and then in the 88th minute against AC 2-1,
00:26:30
Speaker
A.C. handedly... Adalanta is way better than A.C. Valarme. A.C. handly radio and know at the Bernabao. So does that. I don't know. I feel like that means A.C. is a little better than Adalanta. It was totally in the San Siro. It was at the San Siro.
00:26:45
Speaker
No, no, no, no, no, okay. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Something to think about. Keep it rolling. Bologna went to Benfica, which I believe is in Lisbon, if I'm not wrong. They went to Lisbon, nil, nil draw. Bologna in the Champions League. It's going to be like...
00:27:08
Speaker
Let's rest players. If we get through, we get through. That's how I would approach it. And I think they should approach it that way. I think they should. I don't think we're getting through at this point. Yeah. I don't think they should. I don't think they should even really get through. They have a tall mountain to climb. I think they've gotten, what, one point, two points total.
00:27:24
Speaker
They're just not there. The squad's simply not good enough to compete, period. Correct, yeah. Also, Benfic is good. Let's look at this very, either. That's not a bad result, but they're just not accumulating points and not getting enough results to get through those results, and that's what it is. And their squad is vastly inferior to Benfica, like, period.
00:27:43
Speaker
Also, I don't think, I don't think that it's the end of the world if that they're focusing on two competitions, Copa and Serie A, they could end up finishing in the Champions League spot again with how they've been playing in the league. Yeah, definitely agree. AC Milan hosted Sivrena Tsbeida. I said on the last episode of Loaks is here, you got to watch out for those Eastern European teams. That's only when you go there. So at the San Siro, they left it late, actually, but they got it done two to one, which I don't love.
00:28:12
Speaker
As of like, this is the kind of game that we're going to get from Fonseca, right? Like you're playing kind of an inferior opposition. You're going to have to bring the game to them and they struggle, which has kind of been the story of the year.
00:28:24
Speaker
I mean, it's the second Champions League game in a row. We're playing a known a Eastern European team. And and you know we we could have dropped points here. I wouldn't have been surprised with a 3-2 game, the previous matchup, 2-1 here. you know I go into every game now for AC, expecting no more than a draw and being extremely ready for a loss. And it does not matter who we're playing. Yeah, you know, Fonseca, those Eastern European teams, now you're right on the grid.
00:28:55
Speaker
I'm never gonna stop quoting that. But then the shock result of the week last week, I don't know how this happened. I don't know. UVA's not very good that they beat Man City, who's also not very good. I was gonna say, I can tell you how it happened. Man City is not what they were last year. They are not very good. I think City's lost eight or nine straight.
00:29:16
Speaker
And yeah, good thing Yve didn't lose to them because you City can't seem to beat anybody. I will say City dominated this game. They probably probably should have been a 1-1 draw. d gregorio very very important save against Ireland to land on the ship. Yep. um And also, um Waya and Wes McKinney were subbed in and they ah Waya assisted Wes McKinney who had a fantastic goal
00:29:47
Speaker
pretty similar to his Barcelona goal that he scored two or three years ago in the Champions League as well. But it was the first time in the Champions League history that an American assisted an American goal scorer in the European competition. So that's good for USA, USA, USA, USA.
00:30:04
Speaker
um And then Pep had something to say, which was just insane. He was like, this Juventus team is the future. They're very good. They're so young, which I love that he said that. But he was like, it's almost impossible to shut us out. I took a look at City's last couple of games and everybody shuts them out. like So it was kind of funny, but love to get in the praise by Pep about UVA and how he sees what is coming.
00:30:32
Speaker
Uh, and good wins, good win. I think it's interesting that pep pep says that because right. We've been talking about UVA and comparing them directly to AC Milan and they have similar form in the league, actually worse form in Europe. And yet we've been talking about UVA is this project that, that is going to be dominant a year from now, maybe a year and a half from now. And it is very, it's different and we can see that. And the results aren't quite there. We talk about like what's the roadmap is like there had a schedule behind schedule.
00:31:01
Speaker
I'll probably say they're right on schedule right now. is how yeah can I mean, it it is crazy though, because if some of these draws, like if four of these draws are wins, it's a totally different story. I mean, the two that you can pull out so quickly, the calorie at home, dropping points and then leche, dropping points with leche. And this week as well. Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah.
00:31:23
Speaker
You win those three games and you are what, nine and nine I think or something like that around there? No, no, nine and seven. If you win those three games, you're equal on points of that Atlanta at the top of the table. And those were games that they had won, which is insane. Mm hmm. Yeah, I keep it wrong, but they didn't come out. Yeah, go ahead. Let's finish it off.
00:31:47
Speaker
No, I'll say it. after I'll say it when we talk about Finesse's theme. Okay, perfect. And so moving it on, Europa League, Braga went to Roma. Roma won that one three to nothing. You'd like to see some goals going in for Roma. That was five goals in their previous two games, which is pretty good, or even more than that, actually. I thought they won two, nothing, but...
00:32:04
Speaker
No, they smacked them. So a couple of good games around Yeri. Lazio went to Ajax, won that game three to one. I think that's kind of a more impressive result than it might seem on paper. Going to Amsterdam and giving it to Ajax is not an easy job. That's a really intimidating stadium. And that's a team that prides themselves on winning at home and competing in the Champions League. So I think that was a good experience for this young Lazio team. Good experience for Barone as well. So I like to see them getting it done. I still expect them to make a deep run.
00:32:33
Speaker
Fair. Cool. Yeah. Yeah. I mentioned that last week about the game, their game during the week, Lazios is going to be tough because they're going to IX, they're coming from IX, which is a tough game. And you'll, you'll see that obviously. Yeah, true. Conference league, Fiorentina hosting another team we don't know anything about. Lask. 7-0 Fiorentina beat the piss out of them. Interesting stat. They scored seven goals. Moise18 started and did not score one of them. Very tough.
00:33:04
Speaker
this is going to be Chelsea Fiorentina final. Well, it just didn't listen last week, but Mop said that every time we talked about Fiorentina in the conference league, that's what he's going to say. I mean, these are he's done it every single time up until now, so he might as well just keep it going. That wraps up European competitions for last week, which brings us into match rate number 16. This was probably the most Eventful week, I'll call it since, since match week 10 or the season officially started. There are a couple of surprising results, some weird score lines. And I think the place to start with is definitely the game that happened today on Monday. We recorded.
00:33:42
Speaker
Lazio hosted Inter Milan and lost six to nothing. in Insane. don't i don't I don't think anybody would have anticipated this happening. I did think Inter were going to win. That was my Colpi pick. But if you had told me that Hakan, Federico DiMarco, Nicola Barela, Genzel Dumfry, Carlos Augusto, and Marcus Tarang would all score, I would have not believed you.
00:34:09
Speaker
I mean, I mean, like it's crazy that they all scored in the same game. But if you think about it, like these are the normal goal scorers for Inter besides like Carlos Agusto, right? Like Hakan takes the penalties and always finishes them.
00:34:24
Speaker
DeMarco is their offense on the left-hand side and does is known to score goals. Taram, we know what he's been doing this season. And then Barela, we obviously know he scores. He scores some world-class goals, which his goal his goal today was insane. But typically, do they all score in the same game? No, but these are their scores, and then we all know what Dumfries does on the back post. So it does make sense that they all scored, but you don't really see six goals in a game ever, really.
00:34:52
Speaker
This was basically six goals in 45 minutes in the second half. based So the cons were in the 41st and then the rest came 45 plus. like Yeah, but the Marcos came on the on the before halftime.
00:35:04
Speaker
Oh, yeah, sure. But yeah, it's still in 45 minutes. It's just like a from a zero perspective, just like falling apart against a better team, I guess. And Bareilles and Dumfries were two minutes apart. So I feel like after that, Lazio kind of just kind of gave up and then Inter was able to get two more from there.
00:35:24
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it's it's hard when you go you go penalty and then they get another one right before the half. You go in the locker room, they're buzzing. You're absolutely devastated. They get two really early ones in the second half. It's game over from there. I mean, you're not you're not coming back from that. But the thing from me is.
00:35:40
Speaker
This is finally what I would expect out of Inter. I wouldn't have expected it necessarily against Alazio, who's been really, really hot. But you look at the score-learn, four out of the five goals, oh, four out of the five, four out of the six goals.
00:35:55
Speaker
assisted by their defense. Four out of the six goals scored by their defense. Very interesting. I mean, we're we'll call them wingbacks. We're going to call them wingbacks. That's what they are. That's their defense. like It's incredible that they can effectively run their entire attack from the back line. Granted, you have Taram who's second in the league in goals right now, and you have Lutaro who was Golden boot winner last year and it arguably a Ballon d'Or recipient contender, but they're literally they're pummeling a top six team in Serie A right now with their defense. It's incredible.
00:36:32
Speaker
This is the type of game that is why I'm still backing Inter to win the Scudetto. Even though you're an Atalanta fan? Even though I'm an Atalanta fan. because This is exactly why though. This is the type of game that Atalanta would like get into the gunfight with and sometimes lose.
00:36:52
Speaker
turn clean sheet away from home win. That's what Scudetto winning teams do. They go on the road, get it done, get it done, convincing me. An Inter have played the top competition this year so well and consistently and then have been, ah but I mean, this is off of last week when they beat Tarma three to one and destroyed them. Should have had a clean sheet in that one too. They can just do it to everybody in the table.
00:37:20
Speaker
and there isn't anybody I would feel confident beating them. Like Adelanto and any given week. It's a little bit scary. like they They might lose. like Some of the goals might not go and they're going to concede. And on Inter, you kind of expect them to not concede. Well, that's what I was going to say, is that, listen, 6-0 is a great win, but you can easily shut off after 5-0 or 4-0 and let in a goal or even two goals, which we've seen Inter do time and time again throughout this 15-16 games, right?
00:37:52
Speaker
and to stay plugged in and to stay concentrated for full 90 minutes to get the clean sheet, I think is not many people will talk about that because they're going to talk about the six goals obviously. But for Inter, I don't think it's ever been, scoring has been their issue this year. It's been staying locked in for 90 minutes in and executing a clean sheet, which even though it was six nothing, it's good to see them not allow a goal.
00:38:20
Speaker
it's yeah I mean, that for me, they're the best team in the league. And again, with Lazio, they are not prepared to compete with a team that this that's this good yet. They're a very good team. They look good against some of these other teams, like we talked about.
00:38:35
Speaker
with Fiorentina, like that was a great win. Like some of those games are great. They're not ready to be on the same stage as Ninja Milan. They are not that good. I think that there is a the game, they're middle of the week game played a factor. Like Iax is typically a Champions League level opponent. You're going to the Netherlands. You have to be focused for that game to get that win. They executed a great that game three to one. And then it's tough to come back and play a team like Inter. We've seen it even for a team like Inter.
00:39:05
Speaker
playing Manchester City and then playing a team like Milan, right? They lost that game. A team like Juventus going or having Manchester City come and then playing a team like Venezia. It's hard to have 180 minutes of mental, like locked in, no mental lapses in a game with those two big games back to back. It's tough to do. So yeah I think that plays me a little bit of a factor. They didn't beat Fiorentia, they beat Napoli. So they beat Napoli twice and then beat Ajax and lost to Andrew.
00:39:35
Speaker
yeah Yeah, that's a tough run. That's a very hard four-game stretch. Yeah. My thing here is when when you talk about why Inter is the best team in the league, I think it comes down to I look at Atlanta and yes, 100%. I know you said this before before the episode. Arguably one of the hottest teams in all of Europe, not just Syria. You look at teams like Napoli. Very, very good.
00:40:04
Speaker
You look at teams like Fiorentina, who had been on an absolute scorching tear. Same thing with Lazio. But all of those teams are in in a moment of time right now, yeah where they're just clicking. us And I think the perfect examples were Taghi for Atalanta. He was driving their team for a month and a half, and he slowed down. I think Atalanta slowed down just slightly. Obviously, you've still gotten the results that they've needed for the most part, the last five of their five. So and I think they're undefeated in the last nine in Syria. But believe they've won nine straight.
00:40:41
Speaker
Not only do they have one, they're nine and oh, yeah. ah Yeah, they haven't dropped a single point. But that's why I wasn't... I mean, I guess you when you look back at other episodes, were we worried about Enter? Yes.
00:40:54
Speaker
But that's where they proved us wrong in that this is where those that experience of this team and the consistency of this team, not only just this year, but year over year over year is kicking in because they're going to get it. I think they're just they're they were bound to get it. They're bound to make it click. And Matt, I saw that face. I'm not sure where it's coming from. But or before Monty, this is if this year over year over year, what are we talking about here? They want once. Yeah, but they I mean, they what was the last time they were out of the top three?
00:41:24
Speaker
can they okay they am my yeah in zaki's good dadto I'm considering the same team. Yeah, so they won twice. Yeah, they won twice. Okay, but they haven't. It's not my own expectations. Yeah, but what what I think to Logan's point yeah in something that we see with like great teams.
00:41:42
Speaker
is they give like with Manchester City is the best possible example. Every December, every January, apart from maybe this year, they might actually be dead. December and January, everybody's like, Oh, this isn't city's year, they haven't, they're in third place, they're two points off, three points off, they haven't been as good. And they just continue to get better. And it's kind of like with Yeah, I'm trying to think of the other. We've had this argument before. I agree. We've had this argument before and Juventus did that a ton in their nine year reign where it was like this is not Juventus' year and they somehow grinded it out. That's not Inter's DNA. It's really it's just not like flat out like they don't they haven't won enough in the last five, six, seven years to know how to do that.
00:42:20
Speaker
Yes they won it two years ago and four years ago but they haven't done that enough to be like we know how to do it like City won four in a row like they knew how to do it and I see your point and it makes sense and it could happen. I just don't think enters it's not in their DNA yet. I just think you're you're going to see more consistency out of this inter team when they hit a blip in the road.
00:42:44
Speaker
as opposed to if you do see Atalanta have a really bad game, that bounce back, I'm not sure, is is going to be there as much as it has been for Inter to hit some bumps in the road. They lost the meet line. They tied Gen 1 after being 0-3-0. But they've come back and they have results like this against Alazio. So I do think that Inter, that it was just bound for them to get back on pace. We'll see if the other teams will be able to keep up that pace. That's going to be the reaction. I agree with that. I don't think it's inter-dropping points as much as other teams going to simply outperform their expectation, which at this point in the season, there are a ton of teams that have done that. And that's the scary part, especially for U of A and AC, that you have lots, you have Fiorentina, you have at Atlanta playing the way that they have been. If they continue that trend, that's a scary situation for a lot of those fringe teams. And poor to note, game in hand for Inter, if they win said game in hand, they would be even on points with Atlanta in first place.
00:43:49
Speaker
would bring this into our next game. Atalanta went to Callery, notably hard place to play, and won it 1-0. I'm very surprised that Atalanta won this game 1-0. If you were to tell me it was going to be a 1-0 game, I fully would have guessed Callery won.
00:44:06
Speaker
The MO for Adelanta has been over two and a half. they it's hit Almost every single game that they played. So for them to hold a clean sheet, even though Caliari's offense might not be that great. I mean, that it's it's a tough a tough place to go to Sardinia these days. And so good for them to hang on in a situation like this. Because in my mind, that's a team that could easily have just given up a shit goal at the end and then you drop points in your and you're sitting tied with Napoli again.
00:44:32
Speaker
Yeah, also, just to read some stats here, Adalanta two shots on goal, Calgary eight shots on goal. So I think you could look at this game and they both had a total of 12. You could look at this game and say Adalanta got lucky that they got three points. It should have been. Calgary should have put one in at the end to tie it one to one. Not a very Adalanta type of game here, but all very, very good win for them. And this is what this is what I said before, like usually Adelanta would drop points in a game like this. yeah definitely This is how you win the Scudettos, win these types of games, games that you got outperformed in. You get all three points. Yeah, and it's going away, getting wins away from home is big. It's not about just getting a result, you got to get the wins. It kind of pull points off of where you're not supposed to pull points.
00:45:21
Speaker
And for Atalanta, this is the kind of thing that has hurt them in years past. Last year, two years ago, three years ago, Atalanta probably don't get this done and they probably do concede that goal and even maybe draw or maybe you even lose this game. And that's why they're top of the table. and We're kind of waiting, right, for Atalanta to be what they used to be. When are they going to slip up? And of all the teams we've seen here, we've seen Fiorentina slip up now, we've seen Lazio slip up now. Atalanta hasn't yet. We've seen Napoli slip up twice in a row against Lazio.
00:45:55
Speaker
Is Atalanta going to do it or are they going to run this through the whole year? and Nothing is saying that they're not going to do it because we've talked about how good they've been every game and the number of chances they've created and now have kind of sorted out the defense. Then we get Scalvini back soon. like it's getting it's this is the year if there was a year I would say yeah but what's so crazy what is so crazy is that they've won nine straight and if you just if Inter plays Ferrantina and they win they're in second place that's the insane. And I know I just said it's not an interest DNA to to know how to grind it out. But like, Atalanta couldn't be playing better. And they would still be in second if it wasn't for the game ahead. And Fiorentina is not an easy team to go win. So we can't just give into the three points there. But that's just crazy. Crazy, I think. Crazy. Nine wins in a row. I mean, yeah we when the min Napoli won the Scudetto.
00:46:50
Speaker
we were kept on asking ourselves like when when is that when is it going to break when is the system going to break when's inter going to come back through or are you going to come back through and and overtake them it never happened and i can totally see that this this season that that may be the case where Every other team around them are dropping points here and there. They're dropping points here and there. And Atlanta is just grinding out wins. Week in, week out. Not even really. I mean, a lot of these wins are not just a grind, but just week after week and just consistently grabbing those three points. If they continue that, this trend.
00:47:27
Speaker
through the end of January, which is not that far off. That's a month and a half and in the scheme of things and in the season. That's not a crazy amount of time. this This difference can grow very, very quickly. We saw it happening with Napoli originally. da've no They've now dropped a couple of points. They've dropped three points, four points in their last five.
00:47:48
Speaker
Atalanta have not shown signs of slowing down. They don't have a ton of holes in there and there their roster. And if they can just keep healthy, I think that this is Atalanta's league to lose. Quick question here. And I don't know how true this is. I was scrolling on Twitter and I saw it and it said that Gasparini would have taken the Milan job if they offered it to him. I saw it too.
00:48:12
Speaker
Why didn't Milan offer him? Do you guys think you would have taken him? Because we know that Gasparini obviously amazing at Adelance, but we know he struggled when he gets players with bigger egos like a Liao or like a Tio, or maybe a Morata and Mignon, right? He's better with developing younger guys. Would you want him at Milan? Do you think he would succeed at Milan? Make it quick, because I know we've got more to cover. The short answer is I don't think it's the right fit, simply because I don't think our roster is. is in a position to have a Gasparini. I think a lot of the players that that Gasparini excels with are not are simply just not on the AC team right now. And so he's I think that his best attributes would be muted on with eight with the roster that AC has today. So I think it'd be a waste. I would pay money if I was Milan to buy Gasparini and put him at the helm of AC Milan. Gasparini very simply is
00:49:08
Speaker
one of the best managers in the world. He is a better manager than Paulo Fonseca. He's a better, he's a better manager than Stefano Pioli. And he's a better manager than probably everybody in the league currently outside of Antonio Conte. So yes.
00:49:27
Speaker
Milan should have offered him the job. I mean, no, I i guess my my answer was a little misconstrued. Yes, we should have 100% offered him the job. I guess I was more speaking from Gasparini's side, to be honest. Yeah, for Gasparini, I would have said no. I don't know why it was, he was quote unquote, interested. I'm not sure that that that's even true. I did see those headlines and those storylines come out. But from my perspective of I'm Gasparini, I'm staying so fucking far away from that AC team. It's not even funny.
00:49:53
Speaker
i would I would relocate Atalanta from Bergamo anywhere else in Italy to get as far away from that AC Milanti. My guess would be that because of what happened this summer with Atalanta and all the signings they did make, this may have actually been like very close to happening. And it was, I'm either going to Milan or you're going to give me a better team. like That very much could have happened. and Yeah, he's i mean he met with Atalanta and said, like, I want players and I want to keep coop miners. And Islands obviously pushed to keep him and they signed a bunch of players. But I just want to, like, Gasparini has gone to a big, like, he did coach at Milan and was terrible. is The year after they won the treble, he he lost five games in a row. And people said,
00:50:35
Speaker
He can't manage people with big personalities. He succeeds in smaller clubs getting more out of them. So ah just curious to know, but he might not succeed. He might not have succeeded at Milan. So that could be the reason why they went with Fonseca over Gasparini.
00:50:52
Speaker
Perfect. Brings us tricks. Makes it perfect. Add the San Siro. Dropping points once again. 0-0 to Patrick Vieras Genoa. Notable things here. Teo Hernandez was dropped from the team. From Alex in Menez to play at Refback. And then Rafael Liao was the captain.
00:51:10
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, on the surface level, that doesn't seem that crazy. But when you really do think about it, layon's never I don't think Leo's ever captain in AC. So this was the first captain captaincy for Leo, which shows really how far he's come this season, especially from being previously benched and previously only having a couple minutes of minutes a game under Fonseca. So for him to come out and be the captain wearing the band, I mean, that's great to see. I'm i'm glad that Leo's back.
00:51:35
Speaker
Teo being benched, certainly not a surprise. it was It's been talked about. I don't even think this is the first time he's been benched this season. But thankfully, to a certain extent, his agent came out after the game and said that they respect the manager's decision and that you know the the the biggest priority for Teo at the moment is to renew with AC. So I'm hoping if this does really go so south and so sour,
00:51:59
Speaker
That day ends up leaving. We don't lose them for free. Like we've always done. We lost a con for free. We lost, um, uh, Donna Ruma for free. It's kind of been our MO for the past couple of years to just let people walk. But before I get into the game, maz you had something to say. I was just going to say another notable thing was that, and I don't know if I'm going to pronounce this right.
00:52:21
Speaker
matea Mattea Liberale started as well in the number 10 spot. Important message from Pulisic, Ruben Loftus Chee. They had to plug some holes, essentially, is what happened. A lot of injuries, Pulisic, namely, I think even even Tammy came up in half because he wasn't fully fit. So a lot of plug and play. I mean, my my three themes here just in order to echo myself from the last 13 weeks 16 weeks because it's it's the same fucking story over and over again. My biggest themes here are Warren Reinders I mean it's you cannot argue that Reinders is not a top three midfielder probably in Europe at the moment
00:53:07
Speaker
He is phenomenal. He gets the job done by himself. The only reason that this game was exciting for at any point in time was Reinders creating from any every, he created from everywhere in the pit. Whether we had possession in the final third, we were in transition, picking a pass, making the right run, getting open, taking free kicks. I mean, it was, he was, he did everything. Reinders is a world-class player at this point. but There's no discussion to be had there.
00:53:34
Speaker
And then my other theme here is that I don't know if it's really the right place or the term, but I do like Fonseca's openness to bringing our star young players up to the real squad. Camarda came into this game. He actually took off Little Rally. Little Rally started this game at the 10.
00:53:54
Speaker
so I don't know. it's That's bullshit. That's what you need to do. like That's an Italian thing where they you praise a guy for playing a young guy. like if he's an If he's playing in England, that's just he's going to play. The better player is going to play. like i i I want to be done with this, like oh, thankfully he's playing our young player. like he Play the better guy. he's like Give him the chance. He he scored 400 goals in 300 days. like He scores goals. like Play him.
00:54:25
Speaker
Well, but my one counterpoint to this is that when I have seen Camarda play in some situations in Liverpool, did it in this game as well, is that they don't have the presence that a a first team player typically has physicality on the same thing with you. That's that's 100 percent not their fault. These kids, these guys are kids. They're 16, 17, 18 years old. Yieldy's at the beginning of the season didn't have presence. Yieldy still gets spotted off the ball. He still gets spotted off the ball. Well, it's not even a getting by at the ball, but they kind of just get they disappear in the flow of the game sometimes Because they just get eaten up by it, which is totally fine I mean it's gonna happen but that's why you have to play them because they and Yieldy's has come into that is his own person over the season and it's it's happened very quickly for him I don't know if it happens so quickly for Camarda and and Zanoli I think is his name. Terichano hasn't been able to do it. But oh I've liked her actually
00:55:19
Speaker
I do like that. No, TeraTrono's good, but he gets eaten up by the moment as well, is my point. So in a game like this, where AC, this again, this was another must win for AC, you look at the results around the league, Fiorentina dropped points, Latio dropped points, Juve dropped points, Bologna warned. We needed to win this game.
00:55:40
Speaker
Right? We did three points out of this. And if we are, we're we two points back of Uwe with a game in hand. This is a game we need to win, so I'm not sure that's what that's where you are experimenting. Regardless, it's unfortunate that we couldn't get it done. We had a lot of chances, especially in the first half. Tammy fucked up a bunch of shots. Murata is a moron in the second half. It was like going from one bomb to another bomb.
00:56:09
Speaker
But that's what That's what they were expecting to be different. Hand up, hand up. let let me Listen, hand up. I was wrong. I had much higher hopes for this duo coming into this season just considering their past. And I thought that they were, you know, I had this whole thing about nose for goal and and that they were going to run away with this and have a really low floor. They have fallen through that floor into the goddamn basement.
00:56:34
Speaker
Murata in the second half, first of all, has one as one shot set up by Reinders on a beautiful layoff on his left and just completely fucking shakes it because he thinks he's Lilo Messi. He's not. and You need to just get that on frame. Then, a couple moments later, it's on his right foot and he tries to fucking mash it home from the six-yard box and goes off the crossbar from the six-yard box. I think a guy with Murata's experience cannot be doing that.
00:57:04
Speaker
Yeah, but yes, his experience from Morata is playing exactly how I would expect him to play, the way he's played his entire career, which is like good at getting everything ready to score and then not finishing it off. And Tammy Abraham is kind of the same thing, just a more athletic build. And not lot not as good on the ball or passing.
00:57:27
Speaker
i Listen, I don't want to spend too much more time on it because I think Logan really covered a very good job of AC Milan. The one thing that I'll say, and I probably should have said it when I interjected to about the changes, this is not the game you bench Tio. Tio is one of your most creative offensive players. Pulisic is out, Loftus Chica is out. This is not the game to go send a message to Tio because he doesn't get back defensively. That's who he is. He does he gets back for France because he's not their best player, so he knows I have to be more of a team player.
00:57:56
Speaker
Obviously, Liao and Tio are Milan's best players. They they have won the league single-handedly before with to Tonali with that year that they probably shouldn't have won, so they think that their shit doesn't stink, so they don't have to hustle as much.
00:58:10
Speaker
Yes, that comes with the two in a game like this when you're your most informed players injured and another player who last season had 10 goals and 10 assists isn't playing. You have to play to you have to play out because if they can create a goal like that. Like they did who they play last week that they scored. They scored in three seconds.
00:58:28
Speaker
Adelanta, right? Adelanta. Yes, Adelanta. You have to play them. You cannot bench him in this game. That's the one thing that all of a sudden- I don't think Teo has been bad enough where he deserves to be benched. Like, he hasn't been his best, but- Emerson has guarded that back post. Emerson Royale plays his single position and has an actual replacement, and he hasn't been benched. It's like, what message are you trying to send? because If you're the left back and you're playing at a better level than the right back and yet you're getting benched and he isn't, that doesn't make sense. Because when Calabria has played, he's been better than Emerson, but I mean, they're just sticking with Emerson for some reason. it's i mean it's It's clearly an attitude thing because you know he did the same thing with layout and he wasn't afraid of whatever game that he did it with, that he wasn't playing layout. So it's 100% attitude thing because like, okay, in what world are you playing Noah Okafor over layout?
00:59:24
Speaker
Um, again, not a great game to pick. I agree with you both on that point. I don't know if this is just fun. Seca, you know, just trying to pull a power move. I really don't know. It worked with layout. Maybe it'll work with Tao remains to be seen. It's, but again, I, again, I'm not, I belabored it. I said I wasn't going to belabor it, but I did it anyways, but it's the same. It's more of the same from Milan. This is, this is getting very close to it's a throwaway season for me. We're not there yet, but we're getting there.
00:59:54
Speaker
Pioli in off both side of things. That should be always gentle. Great result. Nil Nil at the San Siro is yeah one of the hardest things you can do. And especially for like a lower level team, any results at the San Siro you take as a win a hundred percent of the time. I mean, we can flick it moving on from there or low. Anything are you good?
01:00:14
Speaker
No, I mean, I was just gonna, you know, flowers to to ah so Patrick Vieira. Yeah, I think since he's, I forget when exactly he was appointed, but I'm pretty sure one of them in two draws have not lost yet, yeah. Part of me, we thought it was kind of weird that Genoa fired him at this point in time, but it might have literally just been Patrick, like they reached out to Vieira and he was just like, yeah, I'm kind of down, so like, all right, okay.
01:00:40
Speaker
Killer. Fire this guy, get this guy in. Keeping it rolling, another team. Fiorentina were the hottest teams in the league. Maybe the hottest. Not anymore. Went to Bologna. Lost one to nothing in the Vicenzo Italiano Derby.
01:00:57
Speaker
This one's got to feel good for Italiano. To get one over Fiorecino has been absolutely flying. A hundred percent. Certainly needed it. This game was actually much more exciting than a 1-0 win for Bologna. My biggest takeaway here, though, is two-fold. One, Dan and DeWitt, most of us, you've been saying it, but he's so selectric. I mean, the guy's been saying it. I'm sorry. I said it.
01:01:21
Speaker
ah before these months. Yeah, they was it euroes the all yeah you you been day you were a Tiago Murata, yeah. And Doi, he's just electric. He's so good. He's he's just a better version of Dennis Mann, and he's just he's awesome. The other thing I wanted to take away from this game is I know they lost, but there they should have scored a couple of times. If you weren't Tina's attack,
01:01:43
Speaker
is so fluid and like pointed. They're all in the same. They play Tiki Taka. They're so pointed and they just want to get to the net. I mean, from even from their two midfield, like two holding midfielders, which is usually Adley and Cataldi, I think. Yeah.
01:01:58
Speaker
I mean, they they move the ball so quickly from their own third to the midfield learn and then get a run in behind. They do it so consistently. Moisie Keene is always making a great run, whether he's offsides or not, is a whole other story. But I really do like the way this Fiorentino team plays, especially the offense. That's exactly it's Paula Deena. That's how Monza played two years ago for the last two years, but he just didn't have the same talent or the same caliber players as Fiorentina does now like Monzo. And I know it's not hard to do anymore, but Monza came in the last two years in the Allianz Stadium and beat Juventus two years in a row.
01:02:34
Speaker
And now you're just giving Paladino better players to do so. You can see how big of an effect he has on a team because Monza only lost Kompani and they're in relegation zone and and Paladino. And Fiorentina, whereas they didn't gain that many players. they Yeah, they got Gudmundsson and Puzi got...
01:02:55
Speaker
actually for intended to get players. What I'd say is that they got guys that Paula Dino's always wanted, right? He wanted Moise Kien at Monza for so long. He wanted these players and they got him and he knew that if I get these players I can get the most out of them.
01:03:11
Speaker
So it just goes to show you how good he is. But ah Italiano fired up the boys, got the job done, which ah coming off a tough tie to Juventus is good for Italiano to get that that three points. But at the end of the day, this game probably should have been one to one.
01:03:28
Speaker
I agree, but Italiano was juiced after the game. I just do love i know he should, but you got to love seeing the emotion of these guys. I mean, they especially Italiano with a rough start for Bologna to be in the position that they are and then get this get these three points out at home against his old squad. I mean, huge. thiss what This is what you live for. The bad things Bologna were doing, they're continuing to get better. And again, I'll say it, I still think they're better than you, Vane. I think they're going to overtake you but pretty soon here.
01:03:57
Speaker
There are three points behind them and they were game in hand. They're just as good in my mind. For Fiorentino, one thing I didn't like from Paladino is benching Satiel for Beltran, because I think he's been a ah real bright spot. And he fits kind of like a counter attacking player, I think a little bit better than Beltran. And I, my guess is that would have worked well in this game against an Italiano team that loves to be on the ball. But in us, it maybe made no difference. He wrote. When Satiel came in, he was really, really creative. Yeah, he's a really good player. i they They ran the offense through him the second time. I would say he's better than Beltran, and that's the guy that deserves to be dropped, although he's been... He was great in Gudmundsen's absence, but you're not gonna bench Gudmundsen. I mean, that was probably your biggest signing of the summer. Like hindsight, it's more as 18. But Gudmundsen was definitely the highest caliber guy they brought in. And he hasn't even been up to speed yet, really. Like, I think this was his first start in, ah like, months.
01:04:53
Speaker
You're on mute, Miles. Yeah, Gudmundsson has not been playing game in and game out. And he definitely was their biggest sign in the summer because he was part of the team of the season for the Serie A and Moisey-Keene scored one goal or zero goals last year, so.
01:05:09
Speaker
of a good win for Bologna. They're floored. Yeah, a couple of other games. Napoli went to Pudene. Won this game three to one. What I liked about this one for Napoli is they went down one nothing pretty early. And what I would expect from an Antonio Conte team is kind of struggle to get back in the game. Maybe like eke out a one to one, maybe a two one. Getting three goals is pretty big. And Ramelu Okaku back on the score sheet. Really important for the team if they want to make a run.
01:05:34
Speaker
Correct. Also very different game for an internal content team. 70% possession probably has something to do with them going down one nothing and having to battle back. But you also like to see when they got up two to one, they didn't sit back. They went and hunted to put the game away and Zombo was able to do that in the 80th minute got up to put the game away. Also, they were able to do it without starting Kavada or even playing Kavada. David Neres, I think first start of the season in terms of the Syria.
01:06:05
Speaker
um So that's good that they're able to get three points without one of their key they are key players. I mean, at the beginning of the season, we were going to say they might not be able to get the points. That's a big one. Keeping it rolling. Venezia, the team that has confirmed getting relegated, went to Turin to not play Torino. They played Juventus. Yep.
01:06:26
Speaker
And they they tied a 2-2 shootout. Should have won. They should have won, I'll tell you that much. Listen, I mean, it's more of the same from Yubei. They cannot score a goal from open play. They scored a goal off of a corner kick, which is a great flick-on from Taram. Ghati was able to put it away on the back post. Good finish. And then they just had two lapses defensively. Ghati wasn't guarding his man on a set piece.
01:06:52
Speaker
and And... And they should have lost. It was two to one going into the 90th minute. And Conseau put in a ball or put a shot in and the goalie saved it and he kind of hit it towards the side and it hit off of who I think was Douglas Louise's shoulder to then hit a Venezia guy somewhat on the hand, but it was on his body. Was not a handball.
01:07:18
Speaker
gave it to Juve, but still, even though, even though Juventus gets a handball and a penalty, you know that Dusan Blavic might not make the penalty.

Juventus's Struggles and Solutions

01:07:26
Speaker
So still a lot of work to be done to score the penalty. ah Thankfully, he did to barely get the point, undeserving point, because it wasn't a penalty. It was not a penalty.
01:07:37
Speaker
But listen, Juventus cannot score from open play unless it's Conseil São curling it in or just going on an insane run, taking on three men on the right and then sweating it, right? They just can't seem to score from open play. And I need.
01:07:53
Speaker
a lot of changes. I think that Yildiz should play the 10. I think that M. Bangula should start on the left wing. I would drop Koop miners or play him as a double pivot. I would no longer be starting him. I think he creates stuff, but he just doesn't... There's something going on where he cannot... And Yildiz was playing so good at the 10, the start of the season, and M. Bangula was playing so good as a left wing. So I get you spent 50 on Douglas Louise, who can't play, and 60 on Koop miners, who hasn't been doing a lot.
01:08:21
Speaker
But I you got to switch something up. I'd even go as far as this. I would play Locatelli at a center back and then in like a John Stones libero role where like he plays midfield, but he's as a center back because you may defend with three when they're on the ball and they're on the ball 70 percent of the time. I hate that. So Locatelli can just come up.
01:08:41
Speaker
right And he's great he's got great defense, so he can't defend. But Coop Miners, i you gotta switch it up. it's you can't We haven't scored from Open Play since, I mean, we did against City in the Champions League, but it's just so stagnant and so slow.
01:08:54
Speaker
Matt, let's just take a second, because I just want to first and foremost clarify that you just said, let's not play $110 million. dollars i I want to play Douglas Louise. Douglas Louise hasn't. He has. He's been injured. So we we can't play him because he's been injured. I want him to play. I would play him over Locatelli because I think Locatelli just is the reason why the game is always constantly so slow. All he wants to do is send a diagonal ball in the air to yield this. that's Or possess it and pass it backwards. I think Douglas Luiz is a forward player. He looks to play forward. I obviously want to play Koop Miners. I just think he's struggling right now. And I would try Yildiz at the 10 and a real left winger as a left wing because Yildiz, yes, he can play left wing. He likes to shade to the left, but he's more of a 10 than he's a left winger. And Bangula is more of a winger who wants to stay and hold that with. He wants to play on the touch line. Kiesa would have been good to have there too.
01:09:53
Speaker
Well, from as a guy who followed Tiago Mata very closely last year, as you as you did, as you did what why he struggling so much to to make the most out of what we thought was arguably the best midfield on paper in Syria? I think it's because what what my Why it worked so well last year for Bologna is because he had Endoine on the left and Orcelini on the right and those two loved to hold the width. They were real wingers and then he had Xerxes and Lewis Ferguson who were able to
01:10:32
Speaker
Luis Ferguson was able to play as a 9, and Xerxes was able to play as a 10. And Xerxes was able to play as a 9, and Luis Ferguson was able to play as a 10. So they were able to interchange so well and make in-cutting runs because you had to guard Orcelini in and join because they were so wide. We we don't have any width because Yieldis wants to be in the middle. Koop Miners wants to be in the middle. Kambiaso wants to be in the middle. We're all centered in the middle, and they don't move to for line-breaking passes. They just stand there. And Locatelli only passes it backwards.
01:11:02
Speaker
So that was the key is that they they had they were so wide and Xerxes and Louis Ferguson were so fluid. Doosan can't do what Xerxes can do and come back and play those passes in. Koop miners can do what Louis Ferguson can do, but if you don't have a striker that can leave the space to let Koop miners in,
01:11:20
Speaker
it's not going to work. And if you don't have a winger that wants to stay, like Conse Sal holds that with. He loves playing wide. And he'll cut in. And he's brought the best player on the team consistently right now. And he'll cut in with, yeah, he, by far, by far the most creative. And he'll cut in with the ball. And I also think as good as Cambiazzo is, and as I just said, I want to keep him, him playing that inverted left back coming in at center mid just takes up more space and makes Coop Miners not play as close to goal as he should be playing. There's a lot of shit going that they need to figure out. And there's there's a whole season to figure it out. So I'm not too worried. We haven't lost in 24, 25 straight games. So it's not like it's just the the sky is falling. We just need to figure out how to win.
01:12:01
Speaker
really, really important Nico Gonzalez is coming back in that he, I think Dusan is going to get knocked out of the team movie very quickly. Once they were Gonzalez at a hundred percent fitness, he can play that Xerxes role. Hopefully.
01:12:15
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, COO minors in Nico Gonzalez makes a lot more sense. to do song The only thing I'm a little nervous about is Nico is so physically small in terms of playing back to goal. Like, Xerxes is such a big guy and so strong and can hold the ball up. Can Nico do that? But he's definitely way better on the ball. So we'll see.

Como's Triumphs

01:12:35
Speaker
Yeah, I would I would hey you got tomorrow Juventus has Callery in their Copa Why not fucking mix it up play play in Bangula play yield is play but Try to play coop miners as the pivot play Douglas Louise and coop miners as the pivots play local tellers It's like why not why not right? It's who cares if you lose the game Who cares?
01:12:59
Speaker
ah Because that what I thought trophies are the most important thing. They are, but where right now you gotta play with the lineup and you you don't do it dirt you need to win the serial games, you can't do it during the Champions League. Or maybe do it at practice. Well, been in any case. In any case, we had a little battle at the lake. Lugs, what happened there? The little lads by the lake got it done.
01:13:24
Speaker
it was a It was honestly, if you watch this game, the first half was a spectacular game from a set piece standpoint. I think there was maybe 10 set pieces that were actually dangerous between the two teams, which is ah which is great productivity out of ah to set pieces. But this game really started in the 92nd minute. Colmo, Subzern, Gabriel This game started in the 92nd minute.
01:13:54
Speaker
Where? Now this man has been on Como from the beginning. I think he's 30 years old. He's been on Como since Siri D. He comes on the field and I think Nico Paz plays this ball in. Nico Paz had a great game. Plays this ball in for front post. Gabrielini, it kind of just hits him.
01:14:12
Speaker
I'm not even sure that he redirected it. It just hits like a Shingard in Meg Sphelar. But that is that brings him up to 1-0. Colmo in the 92nd minute, Gabriel fucking Looney goes crazy. He doesn't even know what to do with himself. He's running around like a chicken with his head cut off. He thinks he wants to pop the tarp, but then he doesn't, and then he climbs over.
01:14:33
Speaker
This is like metal safety net to get into the fans of Como. He's going nuts. He's the first player, I believe, to have scored for each the same team in Serie D, Serie C, Serie B, and Serie A, which is a crazy stat.
01:14:51
Speaker
Nonetheless, this game ended 2-0, because in the 96th minute, Gabriel fucking Loney's on a breakaway, by himself, and he's like the grandfather of the team, so obviously he's looking over his shoulder. Who does he see? Who's over his shoulder? Nico Pazzi lays it off to Nico Pazzi. Nico Pazzi gets on the score sheet 2-0. Little lads by the lake go crazy.
01:15:13
Speaker
Okay, enough with the play-by-play, right? the We saw the game. What I'm... I think what Roma's worried about is...

Roma's Formation Challenges

01:15:20
Speaker
Yeah, he didn't even say it very important that they beat Roma. Yeah, they beat Roma. Como beat Roma, turn nothing at home. At this point, it doesn't even matter who they beat, they finally won a game. I think what Roma should be worried about here is... I think they thought that they found something in this 3-4-2-1 that we talked about last episode, Bose, because they they deployed it and against what Braga in the Europa League, and it worked again, 3-0, right? But they had Pellegrini. We were wondering what role Pellegrini would play. They kind of had Pellegrini play in the Salamaker's role, and they had Sulei play. Oh, no, they had Pellegrini. Yeah,
01:15:58
Speaker
yeah And then this game again, they have three, four, two, one. And DiBala was that nine, like you said. And this game... they went back to it with El Shoraro and Salamakers and it didn't work. They they did change Enzo Lefey in for Paredes, but that's not too big of a switch. I know they changed, who'd you say? Mancini came out, but those aren't crazy switches, right? you wouldn't You would expect kind of the same product, but they only had one shot on goal in six total attempts. Well, Colmo had seven shots on goal. So clearly, this might not be the best lineup, but
01:16:35
Speaker
Do you change it up again? I think you've you stumbled upon something and it's not going to work every game because I just don't think Rome is good enough to do it every game. But I think you stay you stick with it. Yeah, they you have to stay with it. This is the only consistency we've seen from them. And to start again and run Yerry, I want you to kind of like re-figure out how he wants to play, who he wants to play. Because part of this now was important is he has people that he wants to play in specific areas for specific reasons, which we didn't really see with DeRosa and we didn't really see with Yurich.
01:17:11
Speaker
The other thing is you can't really change things because you're two points clear of relegation. And the system that you started to use got you a point, three points, which we haven't seen in a really long time. So you kind of have to stick with it. It is scary times for Rona. Like two points clear is really, really scary. And It's not really funny. like they They could go down. like we have we were we're all We're pretty much halfway through the season now. We have a couple games to go until we get there, but they're in the relegation battle right now, which is insanity, given their squad depth.
01:17:50
Speaker
Yeah. and Watching this game though, I mean, no one's thinking this should have been what they have going here. I mean, like I said, they for Como's first goal was kind of a fluke. He didn't really, he wasn't even trying to get it. It just hit his leg and it made the goalie. They gave him a second goal because they've got everyone forward because it's the 96th minute. They're trying to score. They're trying to tie it up.
01:18:12
Speaker
Roman was creating throughout the entire game. It just so happened that a lot of their shots either got blocked, a little bit off target, or they just couldn't get that final product going. But from what we've seen, there's no reason to mix it up from here. This seems to be the most consistent they've been all season.
01:18:29
Speaker
And Como just is eight shots on goal for Como. That's their MO though. They are, they want to get you. They want to get attacking. They're going to have shots on net, but they usually give up a couple here and there. And Roma just couldn't take advantage of that. Story of the season for them, but keep it a rolling. Empoli, Jose Torino, lost the game, won nothing. Really bad result for

Serie A Relegation Battles

Empoli. They have been sliding and they are back to Empoli that we kind of had anticipated. They're really dropping points left and right now. like I don't know what happened. I think they changed how they wanted to play. For Torino, they needed to get one. They hadn't had a winner in a long time, so big for them. Notably, Scotus Land, Shay Adams, 45 yards. Screamer for loads. 45 yards. Tragedy Long was the boy. He he put one away. It was a fluke, but a good goal for him. But it's a... it's a I mean, this was literally just a 0-0 game with one one shot from Halffield.
01:19:21
Speaker
Leger hosted Monza. They won that game two to one. Leger continuing to get it done against the teams that they need to beat. They got two wins in their last five, two draws, one loss. That kind of form keeps you up. For Monza, three losses, two draws, sitting on 19th place on 10 points, looking really dark there.
01:19:41

Keeping it rolling to another team you've been really hard on. Harsh on, I would say, is probably better. Hellas Verona, they went to Parma and won a 3-2 game there. This is a little bit of Parma from the beginning of the season showing immaturity. This is a game that they are better than Hellas Verona, I would say, and would have liked to see them get it done. But both these teams kind of sitting pretty now, I guess, Verona, not Verona, still down there, but they needed a win. Verona's one point clear of relegation, Parma, even on points still.
01:20:09
Speaker
So, so insanely tight bottom line still. Crazy. I mean, you just, you just talked about Leche. I mean, last time I was on, they were in 19th. It's been two weeks from, it's been two results from then. And now they're, they're in 14th. So this table moves incredibly quick down to the bottom and you cannot be just giving up loss after loss after loss, which is what Verona had been doing. They get one win, they're out of the relegation zone. Again, moves quick. Got to be on top of it.
01:20:38
Speaker
Ferris Bueller. Keep it a rolling. That wraps up match week 16. We got some previews that for this week. We have Copa Italia action in midweek. Motz kind of spilled the beans. Callery is going to Juventus. And Motz kind of wants to punt the league, I guess. The Copa Italia wants to punt. No, I don't want to punt it. We can just umut them we could beat them with the lineup that I set. I want to try it out. You're getting in the league with your favorite lineup.
01:21:06
Speaker
No, we I mean, I wasn't we didn't have yeah, but we didn't have the lamp that I just said to this to Just see what had drawn but I mean, I don't think I think Douglas Louise is injured already I think he picked up a knock in practice which is crazy because Douglas Louise and his what how many seasons that villa did he play those three and Two, three, three. He missed 10 total games at Villa. He has already missed 11 games for Juventus. It's crazy. Yeah, a little scary. It happens when you pay them in.
01:21:43
Speaker
Other games other times this week, we got Sesena going to Bergamo to play at Atlanta, Sam Doria going to roll to play Roma and Udenize going to the San Siro to play inter Milan. You would think the favorites should be able to get it done on the Copa Italian, but there's always one surprise there.
01:22:02
Speaker
Yeah, I think Sam has a chance for an Upsetty, or just based on Roma's recent form, but I think, uh... Recent form? I think you take a... I think you take a parlay here and you go, you, they, I don't know, it's a Roma we enter, then just call it a day. That'll never hit, that never ever hits all the favorites.
01:22:18
Speaker
Noted. No Copa Italian Colby either. Interesting. Ah, metric number 17 at the weekend.

Match Predictions and Expectations

01:22:24
Speaker
The big games. AC Milan. Don't jealous Verona. This one screams to me. Milan does not get it done. I will say Verona not really going to bring it to him. And I think Milan are going to struggle. Let's just, I just expect either a tire or loss every game. That's where we're at. You, you do Logan.
01:22:45
Speaker
You might just haven't lost the game in 24 matches, but they don't win either. So it's just ties. It's just ties. Like I go on expecting to draw every game. They're miserable to watch. It's very boring. hour Yeah, it's bad. But so that that one's going on. Bologna going to Torino. I think this is a good game for Bologna to kind of continue to build on what they've been doing and just beat a team that's worse. And them, Torino are still not very good.
01:23:13
Speaker
I mean, it takes a Shay Adams bowl from Hatfield to get them a result at this point. Genoa hosting Napoli, another big one for both teams, I would say. I think this could be an interesting game. I would expect Patrick Vieira to kind of continue to hunt for that draw. Sort of be interesting to see what Antonio Conte can draw up here. This is my dog of the week. Genoa to win this game.
01:23:36
Speaker
i yeah I just got a feeling. You heard it here first, the casual culture of calling. Logan's calling his shot. Jenna would have beaten Napoli. Andrew Colby, great dude. You won. Not really. Not changing. Leche is hosting Latzio. You would think Latzio should be able to bounce back and get done, but you never know against Leche. A lot of people struggle. But she's dangerous.
01:23:56
Speaker
Yeah, Rache is dangerous. ah and This is my Dog of the Week right here, this next one. In Rome, we have Roma hosting Parma. This should be an interesting game. I think the 343 of Roma is susceptible to counter-attacks, and Parma don't want to do that. Anybody susceptible for Parma's counter-attack, anyone can get got by Parma, and Parma's gonna be hungry after they just lost to Verona. Roma don't know their left foot from their right hand. I think Parma get this done.
01:24:30
Speaker
I want to be shocked. That would be a good one. My game of the week in Venice, we got Venezia hosting Calgary. I love this one. We got 18 against 20. It's gonna be a great game. I'm really excited for it. I think it's going to be a lot of goals. I think this is going to be like a three to two kind of game. I see Calgary pulling it out. So I'm really excited for this one. You guys can shake your head all you want, but I love the Cal show. I love the boys from Sardinia and I'm going to be tuning in.
01:24:58
Speaker
We appreciate you tuning in. I better get a play-by-play for that one, because I'm certainly not watching that game. No, your play-by-plays suck. Oh, dude, I just, wait, I just looked. AC Roma Parma 630 in the morning on Sunday. Oof.
01:25:13
Speaker
and Love to watch that one. What's the replay? yeah oh You'll figure it out. In Bergamo, we got Adelanta hosting Empoli. I don't see any way this is an Adelanta minus one and a half. I can't unchange what I've taken now. um But I feel good about Adelanta and this one at home. They've been really good there. ah In Monzo, we got Juventus taking a visit. I wish I was confident. I'm not. I might take the draw.
01:25:39
Speaker
I think it'd be great bet, huh? It's as bad. to you if you If I bet my $100 on the events to draw every game, i'd be because that's always plus like $250, I'd be so rich. Do it.
01:25:51
Speaker
put Put your money where you manage. I can't. No, I have been off of the the gambling training because Juventus has lost me so much money. All right, cool. Besides the Besides the sprinkler on the Colby. In Florence, we got Fiorentina hosting Udenese and Udenese team that I still think is going to continue to slide down the table. And I don't see Fiorentina losing two games in a row here with how much firepower they have and Gudinson coming back into the team. Fiorentina should have this in hand.
01:26:22
Speaker
Last game at the San Siro Inter Milan hosting the lands by the lake. This is the type of game that I could see getting out of hand like the Lazio game. Yeah, 3-0. It will get out of hand. Certainly will. I would love to see Como. I would love to see Como just to maybe show a little bit of maturity and not lose 9-0. Maybe just lose 2-0. That'd be kind of cool. I think this isn't for Como. I think this isn't for Como. Clean shade for Enter and a comfortable 4-0 one. Yeah, I would say 3-0 around there. It's not the end of the world for Como, though. And you're not going to beat internet Enter at Enter.
01:27:02
Speaker
No, they might. This is like we're going to a free ticket to that intergate for them. Oh, that's so that's match week number 17. Before we go, we've got the hottest segment this side of the Atlantic.
01:27:15
Speaker
call pluna Gold be Gold be 10 and two in the last 12, two out of the last four. We're trying to make it three out of the last five. If we go two and one, we will officially be above 500. We have to do it. I really, really like all of our picks this week. I'll kick it off because I picked the Friday game, which I will say picking the Friday game is sick because if you hit, you have a cash out option and then there's only two more lakes to go. Right. Also.
01:27:43
Speaker
No, that's basically it. Then you should throw more on the other legs or you can potentially hedge pending on it. So I really, really like taking the Friday bets. And so that Friday game is Verona Milan. And I'm going with what has made me hit five in a row or six in a row. I don't even know how many in a row because I just hit all my bets from now on. Made me battle back. I was thinking I was like two and eight, two and seven. Now I'm 500. We're going to be positive after this week.
01:28:12
Speaker
Classic mots over bet. Life's too short to bet the under. Milan Verona over two and a half coming in at 140. A little bit of value here. Went back to the minus 130, minus 140 that I've been riding lately, but that's okay because I've been hitting.
01:28:27
Speaker
That's a cocky month right there but you have you have the right. I mean five in a row. know It's not Atlanta status but you're getting there. I'm going with the value this week. I think that this is mispriced by the books. I don't think that they know this Bologna team and I think this plus 155 Bologna money line even though they're going to win.
01:28:46
Speaker
You got to take that. That's not Juventus. Not Juventus. Go to Sarin to play Torino. And plus 155 was just staring at me. This Bologna team's hot. Take it Italian or take it home. Yeah, that's a good one. I love that. That's a great bet. My pick, less value than I'm used to giving. now All the the last five that I've hit have all been plus odds. So I will say that.
01:29:08
Speaker
Pretty good. This one is not. I got lots of money line at Lecce minus one 45. They may have gotten beat up at the weekend, but I don't think this team is going to let it happen twice. Bounce back. Bounce back week. You'd help nerd, especially against Lecce. I mean, Lecce has been dangerous, but you you really do hope that Lecce can bounce back. Yeah. Minus one 45. Brings the full cold beat from match week 17 to plus six 25. Pretty fat one, honestly. I think Logs really boosted us there.
01:29:38
Speaker
But you guys know the drill. Take it singly. Arlay it. Round robbin' it. Sprinkle. Put your whole bank account on there. Take out a mortgage. Whatever you gotta do. You bet the Colby. We're gonna get it done. Plus $625. $100 down. Taking $725 back, baby.
01:29:57
Speaker
Solid one. But with that, guys, we're done um this week. Next week, we'll be touching base on what happened in match week 17, what happened to the Copa Italia, and we'll be taking you into Christmas and New Year's.
01:30:09
Speaker
Yeah, I was doing the same Merry Christmas, but then I realized we are recording before Christmas, right? Or no? No answer. I mean, we we're recording on the 23rd. We're recording on the 23rd, so yeah, we should be recording. But if not, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays from Caltrier Culture. Vos, congratulations on proposing. Paisans, like, follow, subscribe. ah Do not be a Gagoutz and Forza Caltrier Culture.
