Speaker: It was like 100, one of the two of the days and like 90 something high 90s.

Speaker: knowing my lifestyle and how I lived my life the past 31 years, it's, it's, it's up for grabs.
Speaker: It could be either or, you know, so I'm humble enough to be acceptive of whichever comes out as long as it's a healthy baby.
Speaker: It's a Sagittarius.
Speaker: So I'm super excited about that since, you know, it's, it's, it's, it's right there.

Speaker: I think it's like a week before my dad's birthday.

Speaker: a couple of weeks before mine so a little under a little over a month so super excited end of the year it's going to be slamming i'll keep you guys updated because i think we should still be in season maybe cut off like towards the end of it so but i'll definitely guys keep you guys um informed on that um and then like i said we do have the national championship coming towards uh end of this year beginning of next year i think it's like in january

Speaker: It was a guy that showed his experience on one of those carnival cruises, but it was on sale.

Speaker: So I was like, that turned me off to cruises a little bit.
Speaker: But, you know, I was talking to Monica and she was like, if you get a nice one, it's not that bad.

Speaker: So I had to go into the office like the day we were supposed to leave and like chamble in.

Speaker: zoom to the airport to make it in time or we was going to be late.

Speaker: But we definitely want to talk about something that has definitely probably changed the landscape of sports media.
Speaker: And that's the departure of Shannon Sharp from Fox News Undisputed.
Speaker: A little bit old.
Speaker: He's had his last episode already.
Speaker: It was his last episode following the NBA Finals.
Speaker: Shannon Sharp became a household name in the sports podcast.
Speaker: I feel like he was... There's a big three.
Speaker: Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharp, Stephen A. Smith.
Speaker: That's not in that order, but I feel like those are the three big names.
Speaker: I would say it's in that order.
Speaker: Maybe.
Speaker: You might put a Stephen A. Smith above Skip.
Speaker: But those are the big three, right?
Speaker: Those are the three names.
Speaker: When you think of morning sports talk show, those are the three names that are probably going to come right to your head immediately.
Speaker: And two of those names were on Fox, on the same show.
Speaker: So you can only imagine how big it is for Fox News or Fox Sports to say, hey, we're going to buy Shannon Sharp out.
Speaker: There's a lot of speculation.
Speaker: afterwards when it came out that he was leaving the why he was leaving um unfortunately i you know you guys know how i am about speculation i don't like to we get we're on here to talk about what we think might have happened but at the end of the day we don't really know what's gonna we don't know what happened and i'm sure one day maybe shannon sharp or skip may actually tell us what happened um but i do want to say that
Speaker: I feel like it's a little bit unfair to always blame Skip Bayless in the situation.
Speaker: I actually don't think it was Skip was the reason why Shannon left.
Speaker: I think more so is that I was doing a little bit of research into the situation, and then I'll let you throw your opinion in here too.
Speaker: But there's a lot of money being thrown around right now for these sports broadcasters from outside networks, like outside of ESPN, outside of Fox, FanDuel.
Speaker: now has their own morning show.
Speaker: You know, Pat McAfee show was part of FanDuel.
Speaker: And if you guys don't know anything about that, FanDuel, Pat McAfee show had a ridiculous, he had a ridiculous contract.
Speaker: It was like four years, $100 million.
Speaker: So whatever Shannon Sharp is making at Fox, even whatever Skip is making at Fox, ain't nowhere near that type of money.
Speaker: You know, that's a lot of money to be walking by, you know, and I'm sure Shannon Sharp,
Speaker: was getting those type of offers on the table.
Speaker: Hey, you know, come to FanDuel, come to here, you know, we'll give you four years, 120 million, your own show.
Speaker: So that's what I think really what it was, what it came down to.
Speaker: Shannon was like, hey, I get my chance to be on my own show or somebody's offering me something that Fox isn't going to be able to, you know,
Speaker: That offer is not, you know, they're not going to go tick for tack.
Speaker: If you know anything about the ESPN with Disney, their contracts are pretty small in comparison.
Speaker: A few people make in the million, you know, Stephen A and stuff like that.
Speaker: But most people making, you know, mid-tier money.
Speaker: So they ain't broke.
Speaker: Let's let's get that, you know, let's get that out of the way.
Speaker: You know, they ain't struggling.
Speaker: They're not, you know, if you follow any of these people on Instagram, they're all living nice lives.
Speaker: They're always on trips, vacations, whatever.
Speaker: They get to go to all these games for free.
Speaker: They're living nice lives.
Speaker: But.
Speaker: Living a nice, comfortable life with a nice pension or making, you know, 45 million for a year for four years?
Speaker: You know, which one would you choose in that situation?
Speaker: And it really just depends on your life situation.
Speaker: Shannon Sharp's older.
Speaker: He doesn't have any kids.
Speaker: So he's basically a 50, 20 year old.
Speaker: You know, when you're in your 20s, you usually pick.
Speaker: things that let you make a lot of money up front over, you know, family, then you get into your family, to your time, like King Diamond Eyes, and, you know, he's going to pick, you know, stability over a whole lot of money, you know, he's probably not going to choose a job where he is not home
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: At all.
Speaker: But yeah, he might get a whole lot of money, but he's not going to pick something where he's not at home and ever, you know, because that's going to be hard on his girl and his girl trying to basically raise two kids separately.
Speaker: Yeah, you might have a lot of money, but you miss a whole lot of things.
Speaker: So Shannon Sharpe's out of that phase because his kids are grown now and their kids, his kids have kids.
Speaker: So he's got grandkids.
Speaker: So he don't really got to wake up and worry about stability anymore.
Speaker: He made his millions.
Speaker: He moved on.
Speaker: He made more millions in the sports media network.
Speaker: You know, Shannon Sharpe's not broke.
Speaker: But I also, if you ever, I don't know how much people have watched him, but you see that he values money more than anything else.
Speaker: I mean, he always tells every player, take the money.
Speaker: Take the money.
Speaker: That's his thing.
Speaker: He's always been telling players, you know, take that money, obviously.
Speaker: So if that's what he's telling players, you know, I can only imagine that's what he would tell himself as well.
Speaker: Take the money.
Speaker: So if there's a chance that Shannon Sharpe is going to make some generational wealth on a different show, that's what I think he took.
Speaker: So that's what I think really happened at the end of the day.
Speaker: But, you know, there were some problems.
Speaker: You know, we've all seen throughout that there were some issues.
Speaker: Everybody saw the Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharp fight about Tom Brady where he insulted him.
Speaker: And I think a lot of that stuff was already worked out behind the scenes.
Speaker: And maybe it did hurt Shannon Sharp's pride.
Speaker: We'll never know.
Speaker: But overall, at the end of the day, it's still a big hit.
Speaker: And definitely it's going to be a shift.
Speaker: I don't know what undisputed ratings are going to be without Shannon Sharp.
Speaker: It did announce that they're coming back on air August 28th.
Speaker: So we will see what happens.
Speaker: But what do you feel like?
Speaker: How do you feel the climate has shifted or the climate change with the departure of Shannon Sharp?
Speaker: This changes the game completely for morning sports talk.
Speaker: I feel like, like, honestly, the moment that, you know, I used to be big on first first take because, you know, Stephen A and Skip Bayless, it was entertaining.
Speaker: Like it wasn't just like, yeah, you had your good sports talks, but it was also that, you know, you they feed.
Speaker: So I felt like first first take when Skip was still on there was like it was like the the sports soap opera, you know, you know, Stephen A's big in the soap operas.
Speaker: So it was like, yo, you got your sports topics, but then you also got a little bit of drama.
Speaker: But when Shannon Sharp, you know, made his little appearance on first take and then you saw like Shannon Sharp being Shannon Sharp and then it like it intrigued you.
Speaker: So when they moved to Undisputed, I totally disregarded first take.
Speaker: I was solely on Undisputed because Shannon Sharp is just one of those personalities that you just like.
Speaker: He makes you feel like he's a part of your family, like he's a family member.
Speaker: That's Unc Shea.
Speaker: Like, you know, you got to give him his love, his props.
Speaker: And the speculations between the drama between him and Skip, I take that with a grain of salt.
Speaker: And just because throughout my life, I played sports.
Speaker: I was in the military and stuff like that.
Speaker: And then, of course, you have childhood friends and whatnot.
Speaker: So...
Speaker: No matter how close you are, I mean, AB contests to this, you're always going to get into some little bickering, some little arguing, some little fight that makes it seem like you can't stand one another.
Speaker: But at the end of the day, I mean, AB's my boy.
Speaker: My teammates is my dogs.
Speaker: Like, my boys in the military, you know, I take a bullet for them any day of the week.
Speaker: So it's just like my boys from back home, it's like –
Speaker: I could call them everything.
Speaker: It's kind of like a sibling thing, too.
Speaker: Because even my sister, me and my sister will fight like cats and dogs.
Speaker: But the moment that you talk, somebody tries to butt in or tries to turn on one of us, then it's like we wrath on them.
Speaker: So that's just like family atmosphere.
Speaker: That's just like a sibling type thing.
Speaker: And even on the last episode, I made sure I watched that.
Speaker: You could see that it wasn't, there was no like,
Speaker: There was nothing towards Skip or Skip towards Shannon.
Speaker: Shannon was crying because that was his dog.
Speaker: That was his boy.
Speaker: He even said it multiple times.
Speaker: I'm ever grateful for you because you're the one that you allowed me to be
Speaker: you know, you allow me to be my personality.
Speaker: You told me not to change myself and stuff like that.
Speaker: And Skip was like, you could tell like Skip's hurt.
Speaker: Like, I don't know if it, like you said, we don't have the facts.
Speaker: We don't know if it was just, um,
Speaker: Shannon Sharp just was like, I'm done with Skip.
Speaker: You don't know if it was like, hey, this is a great opportunity for me.
Speaker: Can you match it?
Speaker: And Fox was like, oh, no, we won't match it.

Speaker: He's been there for a long time.
Speaker: His only team definitely has transitioned to a star level.
Speaker: I wouldn't call him a superstar.
Speaker: I will just say a star.
Speaker: Damian Lillard was one of the best point guards in the league, just flat out period.
Speaker: He's definitely in that top five point guards.
Speaker: And whatever team he decides to go to is definitely going to reap the benefits.
Speaker: It's looking like it's going to be Miami.
Speaker: It's a team at the top of his list.
Speaker: There's a lot of reports saying that they're basically saying, don't trade me anywhere else or I'm not going to play.
Speaker: uh type deal i don't know if that's true there's just i've seen it a lot going around i think damian lillard actually got on twitter uh and said that basically wasn't true but i think at the end of the day portland is gonna uh honor what he's looking for after 10 or 11 glorious seasons in portland and when i say glorious i mean mediocre

Speaker: They had a few playoff runs here and there, but nothing ever major.
Speaker: I don't think anyone ever honestly thought Portland was going to win a championship.

Speaker: Someone who's going to play defense and get you guys set up but doesn't need to score the ball because you're going to get enough points between Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
Speaker: There's nothing you can do to stop both of them, right?

Speaker: Them adding that, I mean, they're definitely going to score a lot of points, just like the Nets did.
Speaker: But when it comes to playing defense, they're going to have the same issue the Nets did.

Speaker: He did have five blocks, so a hefty amount of rebounds.
Speaker: But it's going to take him a while to get used to the NBA style game.
Speaker: This is no longer the G League.
Speaker: This is no longer Europe.
Speaker: Players are physical.
Speaker: It's a lot more physical.
Speaker: You got more people.
Speaker: People are way more athletic than they were down in the G League or down in Europe.
Speaker: People got hops now.
Speaker: So it's going to take him a minute to get acclimated.
Speaker: But as long as he has, I'll say, 18-10 season for the Spurs, I think they'll be fine.
Speaker: If he goes anything below that, then I think they'll be in trouble.

Speaker: I think everyone's like, oh, he's the highest prospect, you know, NBA prospects in Sobron James.
Speaker: And it's like, stop.

Speaker: And it's like you got to see like how they adapt to the NBA because it's like one thing I've noticed with European players is European ball is more sound.

Speaker: Like, they play, like, how basketball's supposed to be.
Speaker: Like, oh, we're going to set up these screens.
Speaker: We're going to, you know, do these picks or whatever.
Speaker: It's very sound.
Speaker: Where the NBA, it's just, like, we breed superstars.
Speaker: So it's, like...
Speaker: that aspect of the game sometimes is kind of forgotten.
Speaker: Coaching is like sometimes unrelevant in, in the America leagues, especially like with a, a you and shit like that.
Speaker: It's just, can we build a super team and then let take it against the next super team and see who's the better super team.
Speaker: I, there's really no coaching in those leagues.
Speaker: So when it gets, when the players get to, uh,
Speaker: the NBA or, you know, when they have to go against the U S it's like, how can we stop this?
Speaker: Like there's like, we play sound basketball, which sometimes, you know, can be successful when, you know, our teams are arrogant as fuck and they think they're just going to walk over to somebody.
Speaker: But when you have to play that night in and night out, it's a huge game changer.
Speaker: And I think he's going to have the same growing pains as Luca.
Speaker: When Luca first got in the league, you're going to see him crying a lot.
Speaker: I,
Speaker: I guarantee it.
Speaker: All European players, all...
Speaker: great European prospects that came from overseas.
Speaker: They all cry.
Speaker: Giannis cries.
Speaker: Luka cries.
Speaker: Victor's going to cry.

Speaker: Like when you, if you're a superstar, you're going to get more calls than being a non superstar.

Speaker: So he has potential.
Speaker: I'm not dig riding him like everybody else.
Speaker: I just feel like it's cool that he went to the Spurs because, you know, they are known for their big men's, you know, the Robinsons, the Duncans, and now him.
Speaker: So they'll see how well Pop can develop him and whatnot.
Speaker: But I'm pumping the brakes until I can actually see him placed consistently.
Speaker: Absolutely.
Speaker: It's, it's, I have for players.
Speaker: I give them the three seasons rule.
Speaker: I don't see any improvement by three seasons.
Speaker: Then you're a bust.
Speaker: But for now, you know, I'm not going to be like, Oh, summer league, he better have 30, 10 and five blocks every game.
Speaker: Like it's, that's just super unrealistic.
Speaker: So we'll see.
Speaker: Like I said, I think a good rookie year number for him would be 18 and 10.
Speaker: If he's a little bit below that, we'll see.
Speaker: They might be a little bit in trouble, but if he can score 18 points a night, it should be pretty easy for him because he should be their number one option and get them a minimum of 10 rebounds.
Speaker: You could say, okay, he's going to be a solid player.
Speaker: That's my prediction for him.
Speaker: But let's move on to the final topic real quick because we're going to keep this about an hour.

Speaker: out of nowhere by ESPN Disney, Disney reporting that they're trying to save money.
Speaker: So they're definitely taking some hits here and there, excuse me, that they definitely are trying to save money.
Speaker: Feeling the need to let analysts go.
Speaker: What are your thoughts?
Speaker: Are we seeing the collapse of ESPN or is this just a formality?
Speaker: How are you feeling about this?
Speaker: I feel like this is just everybody, every major company right now.
Speaker: They're not making as much money as they thought they were or they're making, they're not meeting their quota or what they expected to make in these years.
Speaker: So they're panicking and they're just going to start letting good people go so they can obtain the most money they can make.
Speaker: Some of those people, analysts, they weren't really big names.
Speaker: and then like it was some of them were somewhat of a big name but they just weren't like mussy i feel like like jaylen rose like he's a hell of an analyst but you know he can always do his little i think that him and some other dude have a little like a little podcast or a little little show um that you know they can take it to youtube or to these other networks so you
Speaker: you know, that's what I feel like.
Speaker: But, you know, ESPN's like that.
Speaker: Amazon was letting people go.
Speaker: I feel like that's just everybody right now.
Speaker: It's just because, like, everyone's in a panic because it's like,
Speaker: They expect everyone just to be spinning, spinning, spinning, because that's what we've been programmed to do for the last 20 years.
Speaker: And it's like, motherfuckers is now like, nah, I need to save this shit in case bad shit happens or shit like that.
Speaker: So because everyone's not doing what they want to, doing what the billionaires expect us to do, like good little sheeps, then they're all in panic mode and just trying to do everything they can to save their dollars.

Speaker: I think ESPN, you know, Disney in general has just been taking a lot of hits, especially with their movies and stuff.
Speaker: And I'm sure all the money budgets are all different.
Speaker: But overall, it's about making money.
Speaker: So if you're losing, if your movie side is losing money, you know, you got to make that up somewhere else.
Speaker: And I think that's pretty much what's happening.
Speaker: If you look at kind of the Marvel slates and stuff like that, they haven't been doing well, flopping a lot of them.
Speaker: Besides maybe like Guardians of the Galaxy.
Speaker: is about the only thing that is really done well.
Speaker: Everything else is pretty much... Avatar.
Speaker: Avatar was pretty shit.
Speaker: Yeah, that's true.
Speaker: Yeah, Avatar.
Speaker: But those movies cost a lot of money to make as well.
Speaker: So, you know, high...
Speaker: 200, 300 million dollar budget movies, you know, and they're only making 500 million plus advertising costs are still coming out at a loss sometimes here and there.
Speaker: So I think this is Disney's way of being like, hey, you know, we need to figure some stuff out.
Speaker: ESPN side is...
Speaker: Pemmerging a lot of money as well.
Speaker: You know, we got some of these guys making millions of dollars, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker: We need to let some of these people go.
Speaker: And that's pretty much what happened.
Speaker: A lot of these guys will bounce back.
Speaker: They'll be they'll find work somewhere else.
Speaker: Like you said, some of them have like their own little shows and stuff.
Speaker: And a lot of them were former NBA players and stuff.
Speaker: So they're all making they were making good money.
Speaker: You know, they're not.
Speaker: going to go into poverty or miss their next mortgage because they were let go.
Speaker: So overall, it's, you know, it is sad when people lose their jobs, but it is the nature of the business.
Speaker: So hopefully, you know, we'll see these guys somewhere else and, you know, thriving, doing their thing again, but it is what it is.

Speaker: So we just hope those people, you know, have, I wish them the best and hopefully they can find another venture that they can enjoy.
