Speaker: What's up? You already know who it is. It's your boy Mitch Wilson on the ones and twos. And yes, I got a good show for you. Sorry, it's been a minute, man. Cooking baseball for a U -Trip team at 14U. On top of work, it's going to be very busy, but I'm so happy to be back to get an episode out.
Speaker: We got some things to go over because it's been a hot minute since we've been together. But we got, I know it's a little over two weeks. It's been a little over two weeks, but only for like a couple minutes. I want to speak about something that I never talked about on the podcast before. I'm going to talk a couple of minutes just about WrestleMania and how insane and amazing that was. Then we got Rose Baseball, baby.
Speaker: We're all trying to do something this year. Okay, so we got world baseball then We're gonna talk about obviously what we're gonna spend the majority of the time on today the draft and also particularly the Chiefs, you know their draft and The many scenarios from that we're not going to talk in the NBA today I know the playoffs have started but we'll talk a lot more about that and next week on the podcast. So Let's get right into it
Speaker: WrestleMania 40 I believe it was 40. I hope it was if not and I'm wrong, but it was the Coolest match I've seen in a very long time I am you know in my 30s and so I have not watched wrestling for a long time but for the match to have Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the undisputed
Speaker: title and you know a few months ago I started seeing clips of the rock coming back who was basically one of the most recognizable wrestlers of all time you had him coming back into the storyline and when he came back you thought he was going to end up
Speaker: going for the belt himself and going after his cousin but he ended up teaming up with his cousin and Cody Rhodes you know losing in last year's WrestleMania coming back and teaming up with Seth Rollins and to have that match and for you know and the crazy thing is I didn't realize is now that WrestleMania it's a two -day event like back in
Speaker: When I was young, it was into it like it was a, it was like a one night thing. Now it's a two day ordeal, which is insane. But for them to have an iconic match where you have Cody Rhodes, who, who I think the majority of people wanted to inverse from Marines who had been, you know, the, I believe the longest, like over a thousand days as champ. And for them to have that match and have those types of rules who were basically, there are no rules.
Speaker: To have Solo come in, help out Roman Reigns, and then for John Cena to come out, which John Cena is arguably also one of the most recognizable wrestlers in WWE. And then to have The Rock come out, and then have The Undertaker come out. When you talk about The Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena, those guys are from what
Speaker: Those who watch wrestling are the attitude era, which is arguably the best era of wrestling. It was almost like that match transformed me back into a little kid when I was watching The Rock, when I was watching The Undertaker, when I was watching John Cena. It was just a really cool match and I haven't watched wrestling
Speaker: in a very long time and it was just really cool to be interested in again. I didn't watch it live but I saw clips from it and it was just really cool how they were able to not only pull in the audience who watches them on a weekly basis but
Speaker: maybe people like myself who hadn't watched wrestling and I couldn't tell you how long it would be to be interested in the outcome of that match. I just thought it was really cool. And a lot of people are calling it the best WrestleMania match of all time. But it was incredible, the clips that I saw, just the crowd reaction from Cena,
Speaker: The rock and I think the clothing is an undertaker was not expected and I think that's why he got this type of What they would call pop from the from the? Stands is that I think a lot of people expected a different superstars don't call Steve Austin to come out and
Speaker: to fight the Rock but when you know Undertaker again one of those one of the most recognizable faces in WWE so you essentially had three of those guys in this match and the thing that makes the Rock Undertaker Stone Cold Steve Austin it's like the second that you hear their music you know that it's them and especially the Undertaker and Stone Cold because it's not a song it's literally a sound when you hear the gong
Speaker: You lose your mind because you know the Undertaker goes out, it's going to come out. And then you hear the gong and then the lights go out. Yeah, you know he's coming. And then with Stone Cold, once you hear the shattered glass, you know Stone Cold Steve Austin is coming out. So it was just really cool. It kind of reminded me of my youth in the cool way. So kudos to WWE and having a great match at WrestleMania. Moving on.
Speaker: talking about something we normally don't talk about because if they don't give us nothing to talk about but let me tell you now let me tell you can't see rules Bobby Witt, Salvador Perez they trying to do something now and I will say this that there was a poll before the season started and the poll was for the MLB players and one of the questions they were asked was
Speaker: who do you think is going to be the most surprised? Which team do you think is going to have the biggest surprise this year? And the number one answer was the Kansas City Royals because the Kansas City Royals, they had Bobby Witt, they had Sal Perez, you know, they had some young talent. They bring in some pitchers that can help bring in some under the radar outfielders that can come in and play. And all of a sudden,
Speaker: The Royals got something cooking that they got off to a really good start and it would have, it would have been even better. But unfortunately, Will Smith blew two saves in a row. How that happened? I do not know, but they've gotten past that. And currently right now the Royals are sitting in second place in the, in the AL Central with a record of 15 and 10. They are behind, they're just two and a half games behind Cleveland.
Speaker: Cleveland's 17 7 so and the world's have just Taken the lead in the series with the Blue Jays that they're in the they're in the tail end of a four game series with the Blue Jays At this moment the Blue Jays won the first game and the roles took then the next two tomorrow. They will play and if the rose come when they will win the series, you know, the roles are also coming off of a
Speaker: Hard series against the Orioles where they lost that series, you know two games to one and You know two games that were very high scoring nine to four They won that game then turn on lose nine to seven and then get shut out five to zero I think I've definitely been impressed with this team because you knew that Bobby Witt and Salvador Perez were gonna show but the guys that they've added and
Speaker: this last offseason have really showed up. And what I've noticed in the games that they've won, they've had a few games this year where they've won and they've scored a lot of runs and Bobby Wood Jr. has only had like one hit in that game. So they are doing very well playing team baseball and the pitching, and let's just be completely honest, the reason why they are where they're at right now, the pitching has been really good and the defense has been exceptionally good.
Speaker: And baseball, if you know baseball at all, if you pitch it good and you play really good defense, you're always going to have a chance to win a game. So I hope the Rose can continue to do what they're doing. Let's look at some stats real quick because I know that Bobby Wood and Sal Perez are definitely leading us offensively. You got Bobby Wood Jr.
Speaker: at a 3 .17 average. Salvador Perez at a 3 .48 average. However, Bobby does lead the team in hits. He's got one more hit than Salvador. And also, Bobby Woods also already has seven solemn bases on the year.
Speaker: You know, he is definitely a five tool player, a guy that can play defense that can hit and can run and, you know, great arm. So, man, we're just super lucky to have him in, especially the fact that he signed that huge contract. This, this last right before the season started, it was a, I believe 11 year, $277 million contract. I think that's awesome for Kansas city, awesome for the world. You know, he's a kid, a lot like, you know,
Speaker: I'm not trying to bring the Chiefs into it, but Bobby Wood Jr. is a lot like home to the fact he's from Texas. You know, Kansas City feels like a home away from home for him. And for him to take that step in the time that contract just proves that he wants to be here. But not only that he wants to be here, but he wants to win here. So may I tell you what? I'm excited about the rules. I'm actually, for the first time in a while, like I'm constantly checking that score of the game every day, just to kind of see where they're at.
Speaker: But it is exciting that the Royals are playing good baseball right now. There are five games above 500 and it is, you know,
Speaker: I know this is super early, but the way that they're playing with how well they're pitching and how well they're playing defense and selling bases and the team's quick, it's given me 14 -15 vibes. I'm not saying by any means that they're going to go to a World Series or anything like that, but through 25 games,
Speaker: their play is very similar to that 14 -15 team. So again, excited to be talking about the rules right now. Excited for them to be in second place in the AO Central. Hopefully they can continue to get better, especially our world players. Because like I said, Bobby Lynn and Sal Perez are leading the offensive charge.
Speaker: MJ Melendez could continue to bring his average up that would that would be fantastic also Vinnie Pascantino got off to a very slow start, but he is has played much better I'd say after the first week and a half of the start of the season. He's picked it up a lot He's starting to hit the ball really well, so if we can to just continue to get better I think the the rules would definitely have a shot to have an opportunity to play in this postseason which I
Speaker: I didn't know if I was going to be able to say at the beginning of this year, actually, let's just be honest. I didn't think that they were going to be in the postseason before the season started, but pleasantly surprised, glad that the additions are paying off. And again, I see you, worlds. So let's continue to do the dang thing, keep getting them wins. And so hopefully we can be talking about the worlds in August and September and not just in the spring and summer.
Speaker: moving on this episode is going to be airing the day of the draft so happy draft day but really quick before we get into the draft
Speaker: If you're a Chiefs fan, you've received some absolutely fantastic news just a day ago, or actually technically when this airs two days ago. The Kansas City Chiefs have extended Andy Reid, Brett Veach, and Mark Donovan through 2029. Let me say that again for the people in the back who don't want to hear that. The Kansas City Chiefs have extended
Speaker: Andy Reid, Brett Veitch, and Mark Donovan through 2029. As a Chiefs fan, talk about the early Christmas present. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. Clark Hunt. Clark Hunt wanted to make Andy Reid the highest -paid coach in the NBA, and it's all what he should be. If he wasn't, he should be. Back -to -back Super Bowls, been to five of six Super Bowls, so let's just
Speaker: let's just call what it is Andy Reid is the best coach in the NFL right now currently and it's not close and the reason why it's not close is because Bill Belichick is not coaching this year great news if you're a Kansas City Chiefs fan so let's talk about the draft now let's get into the draft draft is like to some people people like me the draft is Christmas
Speaker: in April. You know, it's so great. And for me, like, my birthday is next week. So it's just like an early birthday present every year for me. And I want to talk, I want to focus on the top 10 and then I'll talk about the chief. So obviously with the first pick in the draft, this is no
Speaker: This is no surprise, this has been the pick for ever since the Chicago Bears traded Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everyone is under the assumption that the Chicago Bears are gonna take Caleb Williams. I tell you what, my personal opinion, I like Jayden Daniels over Caleb Williams.
Speaker: Jay Daniels is the quarterback coming out of LSU. The reason why I like Daniels over Williams is because he played in SEC, he played better competition, and I think that he's more polished as a quarterback. And I think he's obviously more mobile than Kayla Williams, which that's not, you know,
Speaker: that does give him a better opportunity to get away from to evade sacks but I think he's a little bit more accurate and I dislike him me personally overall as a better quarterback than Caleb Lewis but then you know a lot of people depending on what mock draft you're looking at they have some people have the the commanders taking Drake May out of out of North Carolina some people have
Speaker: You know jayden daniels going to the commander at number two if i'm the washington commanders once caleb williams Is picked as the first overall pick I couldn't get my card for jayden daniels and fast enough so then you have You know the new england pages who are going to be looking for a quarterback And then number four this is where it gets this is where it gets interesting because there are a lot of people that
Speaker: Think that this is where the first trade is going to happen. It's probably going to happen at four or five Because at number four you have the arizona cardinals. They could obviously trade out if they wanted but if they stick at four
Speaker: You would have to think that the only option here is Marvin Harrison Jr. He is absolutely the best receiver in this draft. In my opinion, he's probably one of the best wide receiver prospects in the last probably 10 to 15 years. I mean, he's just so polished and it makes sense, you know, with his dad being Marvin Harrison senior, you know, his dad is a
Speaker: borderline Hall of Famer and He in and his son is Marvin jr. Is bigger faster stronger and just as good as ever of a rat runner coming out of college He is absolutely insane. So Cardinals probably go prop that if the Cardinals don't go Marvin has junior here I don't know what they're thinking then you have this is where a lot of people think the the Vikings gonna trade up with the Chargers and
Speaker: so that so they can get their quarterback but here's something interesting I just want to say and maybe talk about for a minute so you have the Vikings trading with the Chargers coach Harbaugh is in his first year with the Chargers depending on how much he loves Justin Herbert
Speaker: Because as a coach, you know, Justin Herbert was not his guy. I do agree that he isn't mentally talented, but Justin Herbert also is a below 500 quarterback. And yes, some of that is on the coaching staff and the decisions that they've made. But there have been multiple times in Justin Herbert's career where he's gotten the ball with two minutes left in the game and has not been able to go down the field and score.
Speaker: Is there any chance? Is there any chance? I know this sounds crazy. Is there any chance that Los Angeles Chargers trade Justin Herbert to the Minnesota Vikings? I know that sounds crazy. I know that sounds crazy, but just hear me out right now. If you're the Minnesota Vikings and you want to keep Justin Jefferson happy, is he going to be happy with their rookie quarterback? Or would he be more happy with
Speaker: a guy who he knows can win a league but maybe wasn't with the best team. We can all agree that Justin Herbert from a talent perspective is elite but when it comes to the win and loss column he's been below average. If you put Justin Herbert on a team like the Vikings
Speaker: with Justin Jefferson and TJ Hawkinson and Addison who they drafted last year in the first round, that offense would be absolutely electric. If you draft a guy, then it's going to be rookie and there's going to be some growing pains. I think if Jim Harbaugh, Coach Harbaugh, if he loves JJ McCarthy,
Speaker: because he was his quarterback at Michigan. If he loves JJ McCarthy as an NFL quarterback, this is what you do. You trade Justin Herbert to the Vikings, and you draft JJ McCarthy. Point is simple. That's what they should do. But I know that's probably not going to happen. But I'm just saying, it kind of makes sense if you think about it. Won a national championship.
Speaker: just won a national championship at Michigan with JJ McCarthy. But the only way this even has a chance of happening is, you know, Coach Harbaugh has to love JJ McCarthy as a NFL quarterback. If he doesn't, he's out the window, but he loves him. If he loves him as an NFL prophet quarterback, it makes too much sense for him to not even consider it.
Speaker: Those are my thoughts on that. So we got, you know, the Giants obviously are going to take, uh, projected to take Malik neighbors, which some people will argue that, that they like neighbors over Marvin Harrison Jr. Me personally, I like Marvin Harrison Jr.
Speaker: But some will argue that Malik neighbors is just as good as Marvin Harrison jr And then looks like it looks like the Tennessee Titans are are mocked to take Offensive tackle Joe alt and I'll tell you this, you know, if you're a cheese fan Getting this guy even though I know is no way. No, it's just not gonna happen But this would be a dream scenario
Speaker: because Joe Ault, Dad, John Ault, played for the Chiefs and was very good. And now his son's coming out and going to absolutely be a stud in my opinion. He's the best offensive tackle in this draft. He's massive. He is good. This would be... This...
Speaker: It's the type of guy who's going to be drafted and he's probably going to be protecting your quarterback's blindside for the next 10 to 15 years because he's just that good and it's in his gene pool. So the next we got the Atlanta Falcons mock to take Byron Murphy. I think that's a
Speaker: good pick for them you know Brian Murphy by far my opinion is the best defensive tackle in this class he's a guy that is going to demand double teams he has a very quick first step he's very much Aaron Donald esque in his his pad level how he plays at the ethylene and scrimmage and and like I said his quick
Speaker: first step you know he is very stout and is going to take up two blockers for sure some scouts say that you know this guy is the best defender in the class so we're going to see about that and then the Chicago Bears have two picks in the top ten and at number nine they have
Speaker: People have, a lot of people have Rumba Dunes a mock to Washington. I've also seen Brock Bowers mock to the Bears. I mean, I think that would be very good too. You know, you drop the rookie quarterback and you pair him with a legit rookie receiver or a very good tight end. You know, both are great. Me personally, if I'm the Bears, I think I go Brock Bowers just because
Speaker: Titan can be quarterback to best friend especially a young quarterback a working quarterback Titan can be the quarterback's best friend and then so then you have the Jets so out of a doomsday and Brock Bowers whoever the Bears don't take that's who's going at number 10 as People have mocked I would be shocked if the Jets if they just did not draft a Everyone with doomsday and Brock Bowers are at
Speaker: If Brock Bowers or Roma Dunsays, that never shouldn't adjust, do not take them. I would be shocked because on the Jets roster, after Garrett Wilson, they really don't have a legit receiver. So you can get a Brock Bowers or Roma Dunsays to pair with Garrett Wilson. And then with Aaron Rodgers, that offense becomes really good.
Speaker: as long as the as long as as the rookie plays plays well but I mean Brock Bowers, Romadunze, you can't you can't go wrong with you either one of those guys in my opinion so the Chiefs all right pick 32 because you know we all know why they're at 32 it's because they back -to -back suit ball chains baby so they're at 32 I've seen so many mock drafts I've looked at so many mock drafts and I will say this
Speaker: The, I feel like the most mock drafts I've looked at have had the Chiefs taking a receiver.
Speaker: or tackle, which I think is their two biggest areas of need. In this particular mock draft, I see they have the Chiefs mocked to take Xavier Leggett. Me personally, I've seen Lad McConkie mocked to the Chiefs. I've seen AD Mitchell mocked to the Chiefs. I will say this.
Speaker: The wide receiver class is super deep. I think the only way that the Chiefs trade up in this draft is if they trade up for a tackle. I think tackle is more likely to have a trade up than receiver because I feel like the receiver class is deeper. Now, me personally, if somehow, someway, Brian Thomas Jr. falls for whatever reason to that late, it's just not late, I'd say early 20s,
Speaker: If he falls to 2021, I would love the Chiefs to go get him. That's the only guy I would really like for them to go up and get. However, if they're at 32, I like them, honestly, I like them to take the best available receiver or tackle whoever is on their board.
Speaker: receiver a tackle and or corner if if there's a corner that they fill is Is worthy of that pick, but it's definitely got to be one of those three positions receiver tackle Corner, but I have a feeling it's going to be a tackle or receiver especially with the Rishi rice Incident going on don't know how many games he could possibly be suspended so I
Speaker: I think it's probably more likely they take a receiver here, but I think tackle though too, because I think the receiver position is deeper than tackle. Now me personally, if this was me, I'm a big fan of Keon Coleman, not at 32, but if we could draft him in the second round, so if the Chiefs take a tackle in the first round, I really love
Speaker: Keon Coleman and you probably asking like, well, why do you love Keon Coleman? The production that he had at Florida State, he's a big receiver. Keon Coleman is a big physical receiver. Keon Coleman is measurable. He's 6 '3", 213, big receiver. I will say he did run a slower 40. He ran like a 4 '6", 1. However, he ran a 4 '6", 1 in the 40.
Speaker: But when they ran the gauntlet drill at the combine, he ran the highest miles per hour during the gauntlet drill. And that tells me that that applies more to especially his route running ability, how quick he is, if he's running a route. And also, for him to hit the top speed like that, that tells me that he trusts his hands. And he's a hand catcher, not a body catcher. So I really love Keon Coleman.
Speaker: I think that deal situation, my ideal situation for the Chiefs, they get a tackle in the first round. A tackle falls to them that they really like at 32. They take the tackle. In a dream world, the Chiefs trade up and go get Roma doomsday. But that would just be too much capital to give up because a lot of people don't understand when you're drafting, letting the draft every year,
Speaker: You know when you're dressed in 28 to 32 is you know those those you know third round guys fourth round guys fifth round guys and As a chief friend, I know that like, you know, let Jerry Snead was a fourth round pick Isaiah Pacheco was a seventh round pick Jalen Watson was a seventh round pick Joshua Williams Was like a fifth round pick Brian cook
Speaker: Was a third round pick. So the reason why the Chiefs have been able to have success is They're able to draft guys in the mid to little rounds They end up making a difference on the team and make plays on the field So obviously the dream scenario you trade up and you go get a Roma dunes a bit at the end of the day or Marvin Harrison jr. But that's just too much capital to give up however the only
Speaker: player in this draft that I would be okay with him trading up for is the guy who I talked to earlier is Notre Dame tackle
Speaker: Joel because like I said, he's going to be the guy that's going to be playing left tackle for 10 to 15 years. That would be the only guy that I would trade it for. But having said that, they still would have to give up too much to get up into like the top seven, top eight to get him. But a guy like him, like I said,
Speaker: Probably just because he's obviously the number one number one rated tackle in in this draft class and we need to tackle and also during the fact that His dad is the former Chiefs player and played really well when he was here. That just would have been a dream scenario Again, he would be the only guy that I would Consider trading up for because he's gonna be protecting Patrick Mahomes essentially probably for the rest of his career and
Speaker: But man, I am excited for the draft. If I haven't said it already, happy draft day. It's draft day, baby. It's Christmas in April. So guys, man, that's all I got on the draft. Man, I'm so happy to be back on the pod. Just want to give a shout out to all those who listen. When you see the episode pop up, you can be like, hey, my bad, like I said, coaching, working.
Speaker: It is kept me very busy, but I'm so glad to be back on my pod And I will try to do everything on my power to make sure I get content out weekly To you guys because man we're starting to get into some some fun things obviously with the draft You know didn't talk in in the NBA. I know the NBA NBA playoffs I've started get more into that next week on the pod guys. Thanks so much for listening I truly do appreciate you and please remember always be kind
Speaker: Because everyone you meet is fighting a battle that you have absolutely no idea about. Until next time, fame. Peace!
