I’ve known Jamie for a long time from our work in the worlds of social innovation and media. Since then, we’ve each had our own spiritual awakenings and have been co-exploring everything from intuitive knowing to, (interestingly) financial systems!

In this episode of Currents, we connect with Jamie’s Essence in a conversation off the back of an Essential Self Energy Session. From my experience, Jamie’s core energy radiates illuminative awareness and openness and you’ll hear that in this episode as he shares his life experiences and how he’s navigated how to bring this awareness to areas of constriction to allow for more easeful flow and manifestation in his life and the lives of others. What’s more, he shares a bit about how this energy comes to life through everything from building AI to new financial structures.

Tune into this short audio session to meet Jamie and how he connects with and shares his essence and the lessons in it that may be helpful for you. 🙏

Here we are. I'm so excited to be here with my dear friend Jamie Lund. I'm pumped. Pumped. Pumped. We are just coming off an energy session that was all about connecting with our your essence and um it was super beautiful and I'm just really excited to have you here because it's been so sweet to get to know you on multiple planes of existence.
00:00:34
Speaker
and um to get to know your essence and how it expresses in so many um exciting and beautiful ways. And

Evolving Friendship and Essence

00:00:44
Speaker
so I'm excited to just have the space to share, for you to share just a little bit about who you are and your essential self and how that comes to life um in beautiful ways for yourself and for others. ah So yeah, welcome and thanks for being here.
00:01:06
Speaker
Thanks for creating this. Thanks for inviting me. And yeah, I'd say that you know we've we've known each other for quite some time, but now we're getting to know each other even better. So I'm

Childhood Reflections and Nature

00:01:22
Speaker
enjoying this. Nice.
00:01:24
Speaker
Awesome. So I'm so curious in this, just coming off of the session where you were connecting with your essence, uh, what it is that you were kind of feeling, experiencing about who you are. And, you know, even if you had a moment that you went to where you felt really just your yourself, like, what did that feel like?
00:01:52
Speaker
i I mean, the the feeling was definitely pure. So, you know, for for me, I have have like a handful of different necks under my belt, right? And

Channeling Delight in Life

00:02:10
Speaker
in the session itself, we went into i wanted to childhood. So my childhood was in Wisconsin. I grew up on a lake, lots of nature. And it was a lot of me just being comfortable with myself outside in nature. Nature was at a huge support system, I'd say, for me. ah So yeah, the feeling that I was in in in our session that we just had was
00:02:45
Speaker
just being comfortable with self and there was a playfulness to it and to bring more of that out in the everyday. Nice. Yeah, I'll just say that that's something that I've really been so grateful for and experienced from your energy is this invitation into delight.
00:03:13
Speaker
that is super rare and really um sweet and inviting and expanding. ah like I know I have a tendency to get a little bit serious sometimes, like you trying to figure it out or do the things. and um you know Even in just our conversations, but also just you know even in this last energy session, there was this feeling of like What if it's just more delightful?
00:03:49
Speaker
So curious, yeah. Yeah, that's... Well, I would say this. I feel like delight has been an easy guide for me. It's very easy to follow delight. And in in my years, I'm 45 now,
00:04:12
Speaker
Delight has always rewarded me well. And why not? you know and yeah even Even our sessions or sessions with others, um there there are two ways that you can approach it. You can approach it with delight or let's get serious. right The outcome's the same. The outcome's are exactly the same. ah So let's

Jamie's Journey and Essence

00:04:34
Speaker
go for the delightful route. Yeah, I like it.
00:04:39
Speaker
So I just wanted to back up a minute for those who are listening um to give like a little bit of context about ah also just you know who you are and how you feel like your essence expresses itself in You know, it could just be your day-to-day life, but also in the gifts that you share with others or that you bring to the world through um work or just conversations with people. um Yeah, curious how you feel like you're your essence comes to life. And I'll just give you the space to answer that, but you know, I have my own experiences of you too, so excited to reflect. Yeah, I'd enjoy that.
00:05:25
Speaker
So my, who am I? i i'm I'm a father of three, you know three wonderful kids, ah married to my my beautiful wife and we've gone through a lot of challenges as well. So that has been a a source of opportunity just in our trajectory and also my personal trajectory.
00:05:55
Speaker
um In terms of the the place that I play in, I would say you know it's a lot of it is within business, right? So marketing, I've built two self-made agencies. ah And when it comes to an expansion of that, that's advising.
00:06:17
Speaker
I do like to create teams. I do you like to co-create. I do like to get to the source of an answer within another. I find that to be an easy gift for me. And then you know the if we expand that even further, it's really just the, well, I would say this. There's other things that people come to me for.
00:06:47
Speaker
Right. I have no intention of them coming to me, but usually it is within health and wellness. And however deep that individual wants to go, I'm open to go as far as I want to go. and So it seems like there are times where if there is some trauma or discovery that another is seeking, whatever that may be,
00:07:17
Speaker
they tend to gravitate toward me. And I enjoy those conversations. Beautiful. Yeah, I am just holding the fact that you said your essence feels very pure. And I think I would agree with that. Like it feels like a very, um,
00:07:40
Speaker
bright, for me, my experience is like this like bright, soft, like white light um that also feels very illuminating. And my experience of um how your essence has come to life in support of me, too, is that kind of um illuminative like knowing um that that sort of like purity of presence ah offers ah like that you can just sort of see or feel or sort of know things and express and articulate them just really clearly like
00:08:26
Speaker
this, you know, without any attachment or judgment or, you know, um determinative direction or meaning or, you know, projection, um which I've found really, you know, potent, but also really kind.
00:08:51
Speaker
yeah i would um

Deep Communication and Openness

00:08:53
Speaker
You know, as you're you're saying that, and again, thank thank you for those comments and and for for reflecting that. I would say that if I look back and how that has been distributed within my day to day or even in in the past, it can it it is really like on a handful of different levels. So if we go from more of like a an operating
00:09:23
Speaker
place. When working with teams, it's really easy to understand how to interact with each individual. And then, you know, if we go into levels deeper, where are we going into like the f essence or a journey of another. ah So if we put this in relation to kind of our experiences together, it is
00:09:49
Speaker
I don't know how to describe it. I mean, it's it's just there, right? there There could be a lot of noise on your end, and it's just like, hmm. How about this? Or just like, hmm, let's just stop and you know be be with, make space for like really what needs to be said on your side. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Totally.
00:10:19
Speaker
Have you always been good at that?
00:10:24
Speaker
i I don't know. I mean, you don't know until you really know. Right. And and and even within me, like in in in that there is like some, there could be like some self doubt there where it's like, is that true? And to like how how far is one to take it? um But it's always been easy to communicate with people at any level. I'll say that. Whatever whatever whatever one's experience is, it's very easy for me to communicate. you know if you If you were to be in a room of 20 people that you didn't know, and I'd be the one just like striking up a conversation.
00:11:19
Speaker
and
00:11:22
Speaker
the the conversation won't be like necessarily boring one. I usually just start this like, you know, what's the rabbit hole you're going down today? right right Like your recent rabbit hole. I think those those conversations are best. And then it's just really fascinating. I feel like everyone has a sense of this in them and it's okay to let go of the surface level and just start to have, you know, the conversations that you really want to have.
00:11:53
Speaker
So that's, I feel like I can easily just, you know, crack that open. Totally. Cool. Beautiful. So I'm hearing like, connection and knowing and articulation and communication. And I'm curious like, you know, if you connect with that core essence, you know, you've gone through your own journey of,
00:12:19
Speaker
having you know multiple agencies and building lots of different things. like Are there ways that these days you're super excited about sharing you know like your essence and your energy and your gifts with others that feels like really alive?
00:12:39
Speaker
I guess the and i wouldn't say i guess um the way that I'm approaching it now And like the excitement that's driving me is being being open to what comes to me and feeling feeling feeling through it. um So previously, there would be a lot of directional ways of moving, right? It's like,
00:13:13
Speaker
I want this and then I'm going to spend the next three years to get to what I want. Eventually you can get what you want, but the things that I'm finding now is, uh, allowing a little bit of a release and I would say just like a dance, honestly, where things begin to naturally come to you and in the best way possible.
00:13:42
Speaker
Um, so, you know, there's, there have been a handful of examples recently. Uh, if we think of just in business or just like in occurrences of things just falling into my lap. Um, and those are, that's, that's the way that I'm operating, right? So one is within the field of AI.
00:14:13
Speaker
It's very fun and fascinating and comes very natural to me. for Another one is within financial systems, ah which you're also very aware of. And again, that was something that I pushed off for ages. I was like, that's not me, that's not me. And then I was like, wait, maybe it is me. Oh, wow. Things are coming really easy in in this space. ah So it's really just being open and not uh, self-identifying one, or at least previously I would say self-identify as like, I am just this type of person versus like this and, and, and, and it's a lot of fun to play that way. I'll say that. Yeah,

Handling Internal Conflict

00:14:59
Speaker
beautiful. I'm so curious just for those listening, like how
00:15:06
Speaker
How you did that like how because well one thing I'm noticing in what you're saying is that it's not sort of a reductive definition of self but more like a expressive like here I am and here's what's coming to me and it doesn't have to look x particular way but I can just receive this gift that's in alignment with me and it could be anything um and and there are certain things that maybe have felt you know maybe more true but um being surprised and again delighted by like how you know it might be showing up and um I'm curious you mentioned like going from
00:15:48
Speaker
Um, any, any, maybe like your journey or any tidbits of advice for people on like how you made that shift from, I'm going to do this and I'm going to do this for three years and make it a success, right? To like, now a sailboat has landed in my lap because ah but I asked for it. I'll share that, share that story. Um, so let me, let me, um, let me first answer the question and I can share the ah story. Yeah. Um,
00:16:20
Speaker
the The way that I would consider it is if there is a ah sense of conflict in your movement, if there is restraint in your movement, that's usually a a sign or a signal to be with that and understand what what's in it for you right here.
00:16:49
Speaker
So my old mindset was to power through it or input tons of effort behind it. And usually what would happen was more force would come back my way. ah And there may be a sense of relief, but a few months later it'd come back even stronger. And then I'd power through that. And then suddenly I'd power like the whole team around this, right? It's just like, you know, and So it's identifying that it's identifying where these friction points are and acknowledging one that they're there. And if there is something being told to you internally, it's very easy to identify, I would say within a career. Uh, it can be a little bit more.
00:17:45
Speaker
ambiguous when it comes to self or self-discovery. And i I guess that like those can also be mirrors. But that's the way that I would, um that would be the advice, at least the advice the the advice that I have been using. And it still it still shows up. And I still encounter understanding if that is something or if that isn't something.
00:18:12
Speaker
ah But usually, it may repeat itself, and then you'll understand, oh yeah, that's something. Let's let's see how we can feel into it and make sense of a better version or a better route or a better make. Beautiful. I agree with that advice. And there's something very um
00:18:43
Speaker
Aikido and direct, but also again, gentle about it and say, Hey, just look at it. Yeah. So let's, let's let's use the sailboat example. Cause I think it's a long example. Yeah. All right. So everyone listening, I have, I grew up on a lake. I learned how to sail at the time. I did not enjoy it. It was, it was basically like.
00:19:08
Speaker
you know, my summer camp, and it was a lot. And I always felt like I was missing out on other fun things to do. Currently, my kids also feel like the same thing with with their there's summer activities. So the the the evolution was of this, you know, three years ago, I was like, it'd be fun to have a boat. And I'd always take my family sailing, I'm like, you know, a little sailboat rental, bobby cap, take them out,
00:19:39
Speaker
And I would always look at boats and envision the Hobie Cat. you it's It's a fun size, kind of going in and out. It's open. It's pretty rudimentary, but it's fun. And over time, ah you know it started to think of like other big boats I'd see. I'm like, oh, that's a nice boat.
00:20:02
Speaker
That's not for me. Let's go back to Hobiecat. Oh, that's a nice big boat. That's not for me. So if we jump forward to this year, and it was you two months ago, and I was avidly looking at boats, and what occurred was just so so delightful is what it was. if i um A boat appeared.
00:20:32
Speaker
It was a newer boat. In boat age, it was from 1997. A lot of the ones I were looking at from like the 80s. So 20 years newer than what I was looking at. It was a Catalina. It was 25 feet. It was a big boat. And it could be an overnight boat at the same time. And it was listed for $500. They're like, huh. And I looked at the pictures.
00:21:00
Speaker
But the most important thing of the picture that I saw is the boat's name was Hajime.
00:21:10
Speaker
ah So i I'm mispronouncing it. It's it's Japanese. It's Hajime. and the And there's a few meetings, but one of the meetings is nice to meet you. So basically this boat was greeting me with my name and out and I you know said to my wife, like, this is the boat. this It says my name on it, right? This is the boat. So speak with the owner. Turns out he's a Unitarian pastor who has two boats and wants to get rid of one. And I met with him.
00:21:40
Speaker
And it was real, it was a hundred percent real. And he's just started gifting me motors and sails. And he just wanted to have like this in like proper hands and just like have fun. So that all lined up. And here I am with a beautiful boat that I'm looking forward to taking out this year and many years in the future. Amazing. Just let it land in your lap.
00:22:11
Speaker
Hard to do. I'll say that. It can be very hard to do. Totally. you know it It was something that there there was no effort in it. Right. Yeah. It was effortless. And ah there was no friction or tension. It just came. It just really just came.

Concluding with Gratitude

00:22:32
Speaker
I love that. I love that um that feeling. And it it does feel like you, like that.
00:22:43
Speaker
the the energy of that story and how that bow came to you like definitely feels like the current that is you. And just as we close, I'm wondering if you sit in that energy of you know your own essence and you know, shine it out to everybody who's listening.
00:23:02
Speaker
um Just what gift if there's anything just enclosing any final words or um expressions or offering or even just sense that um you have of your own essence, and you know, even describing who and how we are and feeling it as we say it can be a gift um to others hearing it and what they can receive from it. So wondering just, yeah, coming from that ah effortless place of effortlessness, like, yeah, if there are any final words that want to be shared with those who are listening.
00:23:43
Speaker
I would say, well, first, thanks for listening. Yeah. um But I would say like, identify the things that are creating struggles within within yourself or within your life. And maybe it's more about thinking about the simple things first. You don't necessarily need to tackle the the big thing right away. And if you find little friction points within the simple things and use that as your initial method to identify what that is, how to
00:24:22
Speaker
move with it versus move through it, that can be an easy step into some of the the bigger things. But again, I will say the simple thing and the bigger thing are equal, right? So in your mind, whatever is easy easier for oneself to do and address is really the the first opportunity to to look at.
00:24:51
Speaker
see Thanks so much, Jamie. I super appreciate getting the chance to sit here and just tap into and share your energy with you in our session and in this through this conversation. And I hope that um you know those out there listening have gotten to just get a sense of who Jamie is and his energy, because it's really special. So thanks for taking the time to share it here. And I hope that it serves all of us in this big, beautiful communal web that's being weaved.
00:25:29
Speaker
um of all of our spirits because it it's all about, yeah, experiencing all of it together and all the gifts we have to share. So thanks, Jamie. Thanks, those who are listening. Appreciate it. Thank you. Yeah. Take care.
