Zack: And welcome back to the Next Guy Up podcast. After a great weekend of football, we have some stuff to talk about today. um Tense got the win.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Zach, hello.
Zack: the boys The boys have um rebounded a little bit this weekend. Not the Titans. They suck pretty bad. ah But everyone else, we're all winners.
Zack: Yeah, how we doing, boys?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, I avoided the, ah I mean, the Vols won Saturday. That's great. My fantasy team getting absolutely throttled right now. So, luckily the Jags pulled through for me or else ah vibes over here on this end would be pretty low.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I'd have to look up some refs again on Wikipedia.
Mason: Seven. ah did you Google any?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i I did preemptively look up the ah the crew today, Alex Kemp,
Zack: but
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um but
Zack: He's pre pre-gathering information just in case they decide to wrong him.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: just in case. But they they call it a pretty fair game today, so they live to see another day.
Zack: Yeah.
Zack: okay
Mason: Seven games ah went into the final minute with single-digit win or loss. like it was going and That was one of Tinsley's teams were playing in one of those games where it went down to the final minute.
Mason: A lot of blocked field goals.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, a lot of close games.
Mason: lot of field goals to win the game. so It was an exciting day today with NFL and college football.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: lot of really close games. lot of really high-scoring games. Shout out to, I think the Titans had the highest-scoring game of the day. Combined.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Like combined scores. So, shout out.
Zack: Wow, it's something. ah Here's the good news for Titans fans. I think Double Tank is now firmly back in play. I feel great about that.
Mason: you
Zack: We got the quarterback and we got the Double Tank going still. so you know It's not the worst thing.
Zack: We can still get some money.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You guys ah you guys ah looking at like mock drafts receivers-wise, seeing who you want? Or we going double linemen? You get another big guy.
Zack: wouldn't hate that. We've got to get some guys up front. you know i think at this point, looks like anyone.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah. me
Zack: Wide receiver? We definitely need wide receiver, I think.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: What's one more first-round offensive lineman? You already got Skronsky, JC Latham.
Zack: Running back?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: like It's just the third one.
Zack: Sure. I'm in. Take them all. ah Yeah, we don't have to any Titans talk. I don't think literally anyone wants to hear that. I'm not even sure Titans fans want hear it, so I think we're done with that.
Mason: Good call.
Zack: we We have a couple things we're going to go over today. We are going to recap this weekend in football. We are going to go over the highs and lows ah and some of our favorite moments from the weekend.
Zack: We are going to recap our best of the rest game, which, guys, I just have to tell you out there, um we are 3-0, and the overs are hot.
Zack: So be on the lookout because I think we have we found a wrinkle in the college football betting markets that no one knew existed, which is um we keep finding these teams with really close point spreads and all of the numbers start off really low, all the over unders. And if you catch them early, ah you can get some really good value and they are all hitting.
Zack: So three, we're three, know, on these on these kind of non power for games and they just keep hitting over.
Mason: cashed in the third quarter.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Well, we're 3-0 on the overs. let's not we We did bet that field goal bet that one game, but that doesn't count.
Zack: um man Don't worry about that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Mason: yeah
Zack: We tried to get a little cute. We got a little confident with that one. That was that was on me. um We should just went with the over. We all know that. so
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's always the over.
Zack: Probably will be this week again. i'm just going to give everyone heads up.
Mason: I think the over was 50 and a half. It climbed right to end.
Zack: Yeah. It ended up 50 and a half, but it ended up like 79.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Mason: But, but yeah,
Zack: Pretty good.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So, easy peasy.
Zack: pretty good
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Could have moved that line up 10 points and still been fine.
Zack: And it was a fun game.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It was. There was a bunch of pick sixes and all kinds of crazy touchdowns. So, yeah.
Zack: Those games just get wild. It's fun.
Zack: Okay. So, boys, where do you want to start? Where are we going?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Some, some categories let's go.
Zack: You want to hit it?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah Let's I don't, I don't have a big monologue or anything to review today. thought maybe of the,
Zack: Yeah, no overview? Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, I don't have any of that going on. I was kind of thinking Mason was going to be heartbroken and needed to review something on here and talk about how football is not important. I guess that's just a me thing.
Mason: It's important to me. I'm sweating out my fantasy and i hit some bets today. So still finding ways to keep from somebody that read group text with Tinsley saying football's dead. I hate football.
Mason: Football's the worst. I'm still enjoying football over here, even though my team's horrible.
Zack: those those are the words Those are the words of a real ball-nower, though. if If you don't feel like the world's falling apart when your team's down, you might just find a different sport, you know?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: oh
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Well, the the funny part was we were never down. um We were always winning and I was still...
Mason: you
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i just i thought I thought it was going to happen.
Zack: I that.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I thought we were going to lose.
Zack: Yeah. Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: i it just got to the point where we normally would. Under Doug Peterson, we would have lost today. and I would have been on here reviewing, i don't know, like so I got some barbecue Pringles up there. if I probably would have reviewed that. I've been screaming.
Zack: Okay, Mason, ah I changed my mind. Let's do 30 seconds on Brian Callahan and if he's getting fired or not.
Mason: Oh, no. Why? Nobody wants to hear this.
Zack: 30 seconds.
Mason: 30 seconds.
Zack: Yeah.
Mason: My favorite part was looking on social media to see all the boos in the crowd while he's walking. to It was dead silent. And then when he approaches to leave to go into the locker room, the boos, I was seeing people doing live ah reactions during the game. And one of them was like, why would you do a draw quarterback play on third and 12 or whatever it was? Like, just... ah it's a blatant obvious, like bad coaching.
Mason: And I think we're all tired of it going into now where it's done and over with week three. So I don't know, Zach, if you had any input or.
Zack: Yeah, the narrative is starting to come. It's like the, uh, I think fans are kind of calling for his head. I'm not going to last very much longer. ah He may be out this week.
Zack: I kind of hope he is. That'd be kind of funny. I don't think he was ever going to make it the season. And might as well just end it now and go ahead and get the things in motion.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Mason: didn't think so either.
Mason: start prepping for next season.
Zack: Yeah.
Mason: Hmm. If only somebody would have called this.
Zack: Or the yeah the other the other thought is you want to keep him around so we can make sure we tank hard enough to get the number one pick.
Mason: You don't want interim coach getting in there and getting the boys all hyped up and win some games.
Zack: Or we get an interim coach and my super i get to cash out my Super Bowl ticket.
Mason: Uh,
Zack: so
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Um, the interim coach would probably be Mike McCoy. Um, I can promise you guys that he's just as bad as Brian Callahan. So
Zack: Well, Tank, that's fine. Tank is on.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't think you have to worry about the boys rallying behind, an interim coach. Uh, he's just as lame and uninspiring as Brian Callahan.
Zack: Well, that's good to know. Thank you for that confidence, Tint.
Mason: We need to get... and My goal is that we get things right or getting in the right direction going into the new stadium.
Zack: Hmm.
Mason: That's what the double and triple tank was for. But when you hire a bad coach like this and now we have to go into the the kind the carousel of coaching next season, makes me a little nervous.
Mason: Now we're behind.
Zack: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But there was like eight head coaches got hired this year. So you probably won't have as many job openings.
Zack: Hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um So that's good. Maybe, you know, less job openings, you get a better candidate like a Joe Brady or that's really the only name I got. That was the guy I wanted. if Doug, if yeah if Doug, if Doug somehow didn't get fired last year, i was all in on Joe Brady.
Mason: That's the only one you kept texting. There
Zack: Thank you. thank
Mason: you go.
Zack: Okay, there's your Titans talk for the day, everybody. You're welcome. um Let's go ahead and jump into our categories. I remember our competition. If we overlap a category, this counts against us.
Zack: Me and Ten still only have have the only points of the day. um Okay, we're going game of the week first. Game of the week, Mason. What do you got?
Mason: Game of the week. I'm going to go Jets at Buccaneers. Mbuka had the insane...
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Good. i don't care that we have the same one.
Mason: okay. Okay.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Welcome to the point land.
Zack: Uh-oh.
Mason: but then you have two points.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't care.
Mason: Uh, and Buka had an insane one handed catch.
Zack: I like this.
Mason: Uh, you thought the game was over. So it was 23 to six at one point during the game. Uh, and then the jets score three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. One of them being a block field goal, a scoop and score with a minute and 51 seconds left.
Mason: Uh, and then Baker Mayfield led the team to, a game winning 36 yard field goal to win the game.
Zack: Thank you.
Mason: it was a, uh, fun game i was tuning in on it had it on red zone as well um so enjoyed that game quite a bit because it at first i was like oh this is over and i always enjoy those games where you think it's done and then we're like hold up the game's not over yet so tyrod game run for their money
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, the ah the the the Bucks are wearing their their white dreamsicle jerseys. Love those. um The orange ones are are the best, but the white ones are still good too with just a little bit of the orange.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um The Bucks coming in as a six-point favorite, even though they're missing like – their whole starting offensive line outside of their center. um So they're super banged up. Abuka's on a snap count.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You would just think like this is just a classic trap spot. The Jets come in and win. And they could have. they They took the lead with less than two minutes. And then Baker does it again. The Bucs are the first team in NFL history to win all three of their games in the final minute on ah ah for the first three games of the season.
Zack: Awesome.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Saw that stat earlier from Shefty.
Mason: Dang.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So that's crazy. I mean, all three of their games, Baker has led them down to win it last minute. So fun team, super banged up. They need to get healthy.
Zack: OK, my game of this, so you guys both have the same game of the week there.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yep.
Zack: Wow. All right. That's one point for Mason. Two for tens. I love that. Okay. My game of the week was um a fun one last night. Auburn at Oklahoma.
Zack: ah This was a a really fun game. This was my matchup to watch. I had um Jackson Arnold versus John Mateer. And this just made for a very fun game. Oklahoma kind of had had control of the game for most of it.
Zack: Both quarterbacks look pretty good. John Matier had 271 passing yards and a touchdown. He also had a rushing touchdown, which was pretty fun. He had a good performance. I mean, I think he's sitting still sitting there at the top of the Heisman rankings. That's the second big one they've had at home.
Zack: This year. So Oklahoma's looking great. um Auburn fought hard though. It was no easy game. The the most electric play of the game was at the end. ah The safety secured the cover.
Zack: ah So shout out to the safety at the end of the game.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Big shout out.
Zack: Yeah, it was a five points and it looked like Auburn... It kind of looked like it wasn't going to happen just because of the way it was. The game was wrapping up. You have to safety to get the two points to cover the six and a half point spread.
Zack: Shout out to to them.
Mason: I felt like college...
Zack: And so it's almost beating AI. We almost beat out of this week.
Mason: Almost.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: We almost did.
Zack: This was our best week so far.
Mason: I almost felt... or i felt like a college game day should have went to that game instead of the Miami-Florida with how much of a dud that game was.
Zack: Yeah, um they just wanted to go to Miami.
Mason: But that's just my opinion.
Zack: Yeah, that was not a very fun game to watch. um We might be talking about that later on, so we'll we'll save the floor to talk. um Okay. um Mason.
Mason: Zach.
Zack: Performance of the week.
Mason: Performance of the week. I went with Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rogers. Did you have that as well?
Zack: Uh-oh.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's two points for Mason.
Mason: Let me see your notes.
Zack: You love to see it.
Mason: I believe you.
Zack: Well, well, well.
Mason: Um, you told the truth.
Zack: Wow.
Mason: Um, great. like I guess. um Picked up a fumble, took it to the house for 66 yards and had to pick six for 87 yards.
Zack: wow
Mason: um more I was going to just do Vikings defense in general, but I want to go with a specific player.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Wow.
Mason: We always go quarterbacks. We always go like one hand catches, but I wanted to go with a defensive player that was literally just, and he, and I had Vikings defense. We talked about crazy score.
Mason: Like what did a, what did a defense score like 40 some points in our fantasy league?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Mason: So had a great performance there. Yes. Tens, go ahead. Add to it.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, no, scoring two defensive touchdowns, that's big time. i just His highlights were great. He has some good celebrations. I didn't think in any world anyone else would be picking him today.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um His name also, when I saw that, I thought he played for the Titans at one point, and that was going to be a dig, and then I looked it was not that player. That
Mason: Mm-hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: was going to be my other point.
Zack: That's a great breakdown, Tens. All right. my So I've got a new phrase to to coin today. um I'm calling it, we've talked about it a lot. i' I'm calling it the backup bump officially, the backup bump.
Zack: Will Hammond comes in for Texas Tech in the third quarter, gives a spark and pushes Texas Tech onto a big win. It was a very tight game up to this point.
Zack: It was back and forth. Utah missed some opportunities, but it was a fun game. I mean, they were just kind of, it was very defensive heavy. then all of a sudden, Will Hammond comes in, the backup quarterback, and lights it up. Those were a couple of touchdowns, and the game gets blown wide open. So shout out to the backup bump.
Zack: Shout out to Will Hammond, performance of the week.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, another backup. Carson Wentz came in, diced up, helped diced up the Browns a little today too. The backup backup quarterback bump is a real thing. And when you fall victim to it, you can't help but feel defenseless.
Zack: Jake Browning looked really good this week.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: just You just want to curl up. Yeah, you just want to curl up in the fetal position and cry.
Zack: Yeah, tough
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: hate backup quarterbacks so much.
Zack: it's tough. Okay. ah Fun game though. All right. a Surprise of the week, Mason.
Mason: Tens, I swear to my time.
Mason: going to go with the Browns winning the game against the Packers at home. Eight and a half point underdogs. You almost thought about doing that? Blocked field goal at the end of the game.
Mason: Flacco gets them in field goal range, and they kick 55-yarder. By the way, Brown's defense, every single time ah red zone kept going to them, Jordan Love was getting sacked, and I was like, I need to know.
Mason: Jordan Love got sacked five times in this game. I mean, that defense was all over them, and they it was a low scoring, what, 10 to 13?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah
Mason: Ended up pulling off the upset there. So, um yeah, that's my surprise.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Broke Josh Jacobs' ah touchdown streak. He had scored 12 straight games.
Mason: I saw him in a lot of parlays.
Zack: um
Mason: a lot of people were betting them.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Mason: Hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, no, that was an unfortunate game for some people who had them in their survivor pool. That was me. um And yeah, I almost did have them as my surprise of the week. And the Falcons, who I picked for surprise the week as the fraud.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: You'll see why I switched that just a minute. um But yeah, no, the Falcons were my surprise the week. A team that lost a very close game week one at home against the Bucs and then go and and play pretty well, beat the Vikings pretty handily last week.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But those games were in a dome. And some people are now asking the question, can the Falcons not score points outside? Are they an indoor only team?
Zack: a
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: They go to Carolina today.
Zack: Something.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Not a dome. And they lose 30 to nothing. And this is a Panthers team that is bad.
Zack: Let's track the stats.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So, I don't know. Falcons, the indoors only. Indoor
Zack: Indoor merchants. Dome merchants.
Mason: that was That was our one leg, by the way, in the AI parlay that they failed us.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: merchants.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, you go into the game. The Falcons defense has been creating all kinds of pressure. um on defense all year from the defensive line. Panthers lose two starting offensive linemen last week.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Panthers can't stop the run. The Falcons have, oh, I don't know, B. John Robinson, pretty good running back.
Zack: Never heard of him.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Kind of a formula. Well, they didn't hear of him today. They didn't never gave him the ball.
Zack: Got
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um So, yeah, I don't know. Just one of those fluky games. Divisional home dog. Should have went with the underdog there, I guess.
Zack: him.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: But shout out to the Panthers. I'm glad... I'm glad they won a game. but Bryce Young gets to be a quarterback one week longer.
Zack: Oh, it's tough.
Zack: Okay, my surprise of the week was a blowout in the Big Ten. Indiana 63, ranked Illinois 10. A 53 point blowout.
Mason: Mm-hmm.
Zack: ninth ranked illinois ten
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: a fifty three point blowout to Indiana. Kurt Signetti seems like he got the boys together again.
Zack: Got another good team on his hands.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Mm-hmm.
Zack: A lot of people thought it was kind of a fluke last year and he kind of just caught lining in a bottle with a pretty tough schedule or pretty not tough schedule. All of a Indiana's looking little frisky. Illinois probably never should have been ranked as high as they were.
Zack: It just seemed like they were probably not as good as their ranking was showing. But um all of a sudden now, Kurt Signetti and Indiana are looking like a team to beat in the Big Ten.
Zack: Their schedule looks like traveling to Ohio next week. And then they've got a big matchup with Oregon. So all of a sudden, Oregon has after Oregon's season has started super soft, they now have Penn State, Indiana.
Zack: ah Well, maybe not back-to-back. There's a bye week in there. But they have Penn State and Indiana coming over the next three weeks. So um some fun stuff there. Indiana also has Penn State late later in the season. So they're trying to kind of break up that big three currently happening in the Big Ten.
Zack: The Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State situation, um which I think is probably good for everyone. Big 10 schedule is just kind of gross, except for those three teams. So,
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: um yeah, I'm pretty surprised. Illinois. and
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: They had a lot of pieces and expectations.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: there was
Zack: Obviously, they they have a a quarterback who who can play and everyone's kind of looking to. Mm-hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, Altmaier played really well last year. Illinois was kind of kind of thought to maybe be able to sneak in with the Big Ten. Like maybe if one of those top three teams kind of knocked each other out, they could slip in kind of like Indiana did last year.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um But, yeah, no. So I was surprised by the final score because it was close. And then the second half, if it feels like Indiana just kind of just put their foot to the gas and just ran them out.
Mason: Thank you.
Zack: Yeah, you want to hear a stat line right here. Fernando Mendoza, name to watch, Indiana quarterback.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There's second in Heisman odds now.
Zack: Yeah, because listen to the stat line. 21 for 23, 267 yards, five touchdowns. one touchdown. So.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, that'll do it.
Zack: pretty
Zack: he's been ranked The Heisman Race boys is wide open. I'm just going to tell you.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, it is.
Zack: Matier has won some games, but he has not looked incredible. i mean he's He's played good, but it's not in anything special.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: um
Zack: I think this Heisman Race is totally open.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He's one bad performance away from... Yeah, I did too.
Zack: so Which is not... i mean it It has been like the last couple seasons, but it feels even more so. like There's not even really a frontrunner. Matier is there right now just because they've won two big games, but...
Zack: I mean, his stats yesterday weren't crazy.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Right.
Zack: had one touchdown.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, got to do better than that you want to win the Heisman.
Zack: Okay. That's how it goes.
Zack: All right. We are down to fraud of the week. Fraud of the week.
Mason: Our favorite.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Who's your fraud of the week, Mason?
Zack: Mason.
Mason: My fraud of the week is one Dustin Perry. You may be wondering who that is. That is the head strength and conditioning coach for the 49ers.
Mason: Let me tell you the injury report. Brock Purdy out. George Kittle hamstring. Juwan Jennings shoulder. Brandon Ayuk torn ACL from you know last time. Nick Bosa knee.
Mason: Today, Nick Bosa.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Ben Bartsch shoulder.
Mason: There you go.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Shout out Ben Bartsch.
Mason: There was a couple offensive line, but I just found the list with all the like the playmakers on it. um this guy and This isn't just this season, because you may be like, oh, how how's it his fault?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: The big names.
Mason: you know it It's just luck, bad luck, whatever. This has been going on for like five years. Chris McCaffrey got hurt.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: It's true.
Mason: Last year, i mean, we're having some injury problems in the past like four or five years. Look it up. And there's there's been quite a bit. So that is my look it up.
Zack: Look it up, guys.
Mason: Just look it up. ah Fraud of the week.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I personally...
Zack: The people come to this podcast and then Mesa just tells them look it up yourself.
Mason: Dustin Perry.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Look it up yourself.
Mason: Well, I gave you injuries for this season.
Zack: Trust me.
Zack: trust me
Mason: and Just trust me.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I don't think you put the torn ACL on him, but I do agree.
Mason: Look it up.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He probably does need to be replaced. Not this week, though. I would maybe start in like two weeks. Try something new in two weeks.
Mason: Why is that tense?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Let's just say um somebody's going out west.
Mason: Well, i looked at I looked him up and it was ah he he also holds the title of Vice President of Player Health and Performance.
Zack: room
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: I wonder there's so many injuries all across the league.
Mason: Sounds like the...
Zack: Not great.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Got guys like this in charge. He's the vice president of the IR spot for fantasy football.
Zack: but if What if he's just betting against the team against the 49ers? He's like, what if I just get out of this injured?
Mason: Oh, man.
Zack: That'd be fun conspiracy theory. Lift harder with your back only.
Mason: Stretching.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Stretching before the game, that's stupid.
Mason: Who needs stretching? Yeah.
Zack: Guys, trust me, the science is there.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: but
Zack: They say coming out fresh is better. Hmm.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah
Zack: Okay. Tins?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Poor old 49ers. ah My fraud of the week is number zero for the Houston Texans. I'll shot here. don't know how to say his name. He has a very hard name to say.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: This is the guy who famously absolutely destroyed Trevor Lawrence's brain last year on a late hit um was suspended by the NFL for three games.
Zack: him
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Posted a lengthy note in his notes app saying, if they want me to be the villain, I'll be their villain. Changed his profile picture to the Joaquin Phoenix Joker um picture.
Zack: Mm, horse shaker.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: like Kind of embraced this whole thing where he's he's misunderstood and he's a bad boy and blah, blah, blah, blah. blah Had his interview. to that During this week, lots of people asking questions about the hit to Trevor to Al Shear, asking if there was going to be anything happened from it.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Trevor's moved on to Nuz last year. We're just, we're focused on playing football. Algier said, if, you know, if people have something to feel about it, that's, that's on them. I'm just trying to play football. I like to hit people hard. It's what I do.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: And then he changed his profile picture back to the Joker because, He's that's what he is. He's a joker. He's a fraud. He did nothing today. He got up and celebrated when he got a flag for a late hit that injured Deami Brown.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Literally got a flag because Deami was already on the ground. and He came flying in with his helmet. 15 yard penalty. Good job, idiot. You helped your team lose by doing stupid things.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So you lost your fraud. And now we are all Photoshopping the, uh, the picture of you because you're number zero. Cause that's how many games you guys have won. So now you're own three.
Mason: what was the There was a dirty play last week that I told i like texted and said, of course, that guy got a...
Zack: Mmm.
Mason: he It was like a dirty hit. I feel like ah I've seen multiple. Is he just known for this?
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: There's the same thing with the helmet. He, yeah, he got, he's been, he's,
Mason: Oh, it was a late hit on Matthew ah matthew Stafford.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: on On Baker. Because they played...
Mason: It was against the ram or yeah was it the Rams or the Buccaneers. I think it was both.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He played the Buccaneers on Monday night.
Mason: Oh, yeah.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, he he gets flagged for this constantly.
Mason: oh yeah
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: he is He is a fraud. He thinks he's like some big tough linebacker because he flies in and just leads with his helmet all the time. He's getting his team penalized. He's bad at football.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: His best season to date is 48 tackles and one sack in a season. Congrats, dude. You are literally not that good. And your team is but good job on your profile picture.
Zack: yes
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: and he let And he let my quarterback come in and just like put, after they did the late hit on Deami, he got up and celebrated it and Trevor shoved him to the ground. I thought that was funny.
Zack: Great work.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: So anyway, he's he's a fraud, a loser, 0-3.
Zack: Fraud of the week.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: ah and three
Zack: Yeah, it couldn't be me being on three. All right. um My fraud of the week.
Zack: That would be your former Heisman frontrunner, DJ Lagway, and the boys down in Florida in Gainesville.
Mason: Mm-hmm.
Zack: What a tragedy last night that we had to watch on our TVs. Florida just getting destroyed by man. This specifically the Florida offense, but DJ Lagway in particular.
Zack: um Let me give you a couple stats here.
Zack: he went 12 for 23 for 61 total passing yards, zero touchdowns, 61 pass yards.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh, boy.
Zack: ah Maybe you're like, you know, he's a running quarterback too.
Mason: yeah
Zack: I bet he made up for on the ground, negative eight rushing yards.
Mason: Dang.
Zack: ah So he accounted for 53 total yards in the game. ah The Florida offense general generated a total of 141 yards total for the whole game.
Zack: 80
Mason: It's rough.
Zack: rushing yards, 61 passing yards. True, they scored seven points, so a great work on that one position. This was one of the worst offensive performances I've ever watched in my entire life.
Zack: ah DJ Ligwe, after the game, he looks totally defeated. um Billy Napier... are probably another loss away from ah from being out of town, if I had to guess.
Zack: And they are at Texas coming up. In the ultimate fraud bowl, DJ Lagwa, Arch Manning, former Heisman Hovles, playing each other.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: That's going to be a fun one to watch. So, yeah, things not going great down in Gainesville. My UT Vols have to travel down there still, which is always a scary thing.
Zack: But they could be coachless and... I know there there is kind of an interim coach bump as well, but and This one feels kind of cooked up for the year.
Zack: They may end up six and six They're one and three right now.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: yeah
Zack: Their schedule just gets harder as the season goes on, honestly. So not looking great.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, no, as someone who was very high on DJ Lagway going into the season, um this is a DJ Unglelelele situation for me where I was very high on him going into the year he was supposed to be a starter for organ earn for Clemson.
Zack: Yeah, it seems similar.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: me. he burned me I was scorned, and then I bet against him all the time. He was at Oregon State, and it paid off. So wherever DJ goes next year, i will get all my Heisman futures back because I will be betting against him so hard and heavily that it will not be funny.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Because he's bad at throwing the ball, which is pretty key part of being a quarterback.
Zack: Yeah, it seems like he's pretty bad.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: He's like an Anthony Richardson 2.0. That's not compliment.
Zack: Yeah, it seems like it. Yeah, Clemson lost again, and they're still not my fraud of the week. That's how bad this one was.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: Clemson also won in three.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Florida like was just never even it was never even ah game. like They were just never in it.
Zack: No, it was disgusting. Yeah, it was like Miami on a long drive. Florida's defense defenses fund is is good and they're stout. And this game really should have been much worse than it was, if not for Florida's defense kind of stepping up in the first half and just so fighting their tails off while their offense just had three and out after three and out.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: And the defense just had to get back on the field and go fight. and So they kept them in the game. It was like halftime. But I think Florida had like 25 yards of offense at halftime. I mean, it was just as bad as it gets.
Zack: So, fraud of the week.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Guys, I just hopped on ESPN to look at the score the game, and there's a hockey score. I thought hockey regular season just started on us. It's preseason. But that's wild. Sorry.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: That's just like, what are we doing with hockey right now? It's way too early for that.
Zack: So I think we can end up with a little bit of a recap of our best of the rest game of the week.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah.
Zack: UNLV at Miami, Ohio. This one was a ah barn burner. It came down to the last second. UNLV picks up the win 41 to 38. This one was back and forth. We had pick sixes. We had kickoff return touchdowns.
Zack: We had a little bit of everything, um but it was a very fun game. Mason, do you watch some of this one? i feel like you were all into this one.
Mason: I did, yeah I was i was dialed in i had that on the whole hold time It was a back and forth game High scoring You guys were right It was a good game
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, I mean, you feel like Miami of Ohio had the thing one, six minutes left in the fourth quarter, and they get to pick six to go up.
Mason: We got a little bit of a storm, so the internet just wrapped that on things.
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Oh, did it? Shoot.
Zack: you you dropped out for second it's okay
Next Guy Up Podcast Network: Yeah, it's like storming really bad here, actually, at my house. um i was just I was just saying, you think like Miami of Ohio has it, one, they get a pick six with six minutes left in the fourth quarter to go up 10 points, and then UNLV just storms back.
Zack: Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
Zack: ah We can wrap it up there. i think we have a fun week ahead. College football slate is looking very fun for next week. um I am ah excited to hear about the NFL slate as well. Things are picking up.
Zack: We're kind of figuring out some things about some teams. This is kind of where the season gets fun because all of a sudden we have a lot more information. So we know some more about these teams. We got a best of the rest coming your way.
Zack: and Another fun one. We are thankful that you guys chose to come and listen to the pod today. we will be back on Wednesday, Thursday morning. Sorry, we're going to record Wednesday.
Zack: We'll be back Thursday morning with a preview of the weekend of football ahead. So be with us there and we hope you have a great week. See ya.
